Such a fabulous dinner! We had a large group of about 12 people. We made a last minute dinner decision on one of the busiest weekends of the year in Davenport, but The Phoenix was one of the only restaurants to give us a reservation for a Friday night. Beautiful pianist playing who you can hear throughout the restaurant. Wish we sat closer. Bring some cash to tip him and have your song requests ready! Food was delicious. I had the pork chop plate with a sweet bourbon sauce along with mashed potatoes and it was wonderful! I'm not sure if it was the drink, but i got a blackberry mojito. I've gotten mojitos before so I know there are mint leaves in the drink, but the drink was filled with blackberry "stuff" is all I can think to call it. Kept getting in my straw, couldn't drink from the glass because I didn't want the leaves or all the "stuff". Just wanted the actual drink. I drank about a quarter of it before just setting it down and not drinking anymore. I honestly should've taken it back. Aside from the awful drink, the food is too good to not give 5 stars along with our awesome waitress. We will definitely visit again!

So I didn't want sesame seeds pressed on my Ahi Tuna entree. The Chef came out and wanted to make sure that I knew that sesame seeds were in his sauce. Not a problem Chef! Delicious Ahi, seared rare the way it should be, and your vegetables were fantastic. And since Kelly the bartender was also my server, my meal and dining experience was friendly and awesome.

This review only concerns the drinks, since my companion and I did not order any food. The martinis were delicious. I ordered a "Ginger Bear" which was comprised of Mississippi River Gin, ginger beer, lemon and blueberry muddled. The combination of flavors and textures was phenomenal. I also appreciate that they highlight the Mississippi River Distillery spirits from up the river in LeClaire.

Loved this place! Ambiance is perfectly suited for downtown davenport with exposed brick and high ceilings. My date had a martini and I had a Cosmo- both perfect. We ordered 3 appetizers instead of full meals: fries, bruschetta, and artichoke dip with pita. All were excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised at the spiciness of the dip. A small loaf of fresh bread came before our order, served with three types of butter-- a nice touch. Good service and on the night we were there, a pianist who was marvelous and sang a great mix of contemporary and oldies (Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Chicago, etc.).

There was a group of 4 of us that ate here on 1/17/15; there was a party downstairs, a couple of birthday celebrations as well as a guy playing the piano upstairs. I'm not sure if they were understaffed due to all this but the service was really slow, though there were empty tables on the main floor. The food was great. I had the Drunken Port Wine Sirloin and really enjoyed it. Also had a Purple Moscato Martini that was good but it took an extremely long time to get a drink. I ordered a second drink, a beer, when my food arrived and never received it. My biggest complaint was the fact that the kitchen/grille is in the center of the room and the grill smell was very overpowering and clung to our clothes. A lady stopped by a couple times to make sure we enjoyed our food, I assume it was the manager and I always appreciate it when this occurs. The waitress did bring us cheesecake on the house which was really good too. For spending the amount of money we did I was disappointed with the timeliness of the service and the smell. Also, and I'm sure it was a simple mistake, but we were overcharged. What we wrote down on the receipt for the total including tip was less than what showed up on my bank statement. It was only $2 but it was the principle of it that irritated me. Based on the food alone I would rate the place higher but it was everything else that has me giving it a lower rate.

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding last year and arrived to Davenport kind of late. We decided to head downtown for a few drinks and stumbled onto this place. We loved it!! It may be because I am from Chicago that $11 martini price doesn't phase me, but I think they're more than worth it. We sat at the bar and were served by a friendly bartender who happily answered any questions and made suggestions for us. I can't remember her name but she was awesome and seemed to be manning the bar almost entirely by herself. I had the Purple Nerd Martini and the White Gummy Bear. My boyfriend had the S'Mors and the Pumpkin Pie... and maybe the Chocolate (the martinis are pretty big so the details are a little fuzzy, haha!). All of them were delicious! If we're ever in town again, we will definitely be going back.

I have been here twice and I enjoyed it each. To be perfectly honest, we found this place when Woodfire was too busy. It was right next door and to be more honest, I like the food, service, and building better than Woodfire. The food is good and the price is not inflated like Woodfire. You are getting good food for a good price. The beer is great too! This was the first place I had an Uncommon Stout and it has left a lasting impression. I would recommend this place over Woodfire if someone was new to town and looking for a good restaurant with a good atmosphere.

We went the day before Valentines day and had absolutely no issues. The food was incredible, the waitress was delightful and very attentive. Not to mention, the cheese cake was life changing!

The only reason this gets two stars and not one is that the food (dinner) was decent and the dessert (cheesecake) was amazing. But it was hands down the worst service I've had in years, anywhere. Dreadful. The waiter claimed to be "new," but they could have hired someone off the street that minute who had more knowledge, ability, and charm... and I say this as someone who has worked as a server and has a lot of empathy for the hard work they do. He did not know if they had beer specials at happy hour. He did not know what they had on tap. He'd never tasted any of the food in the place, and had no recommendations for anything. He forgot many parts of our order, and had to be reminded of things constantly. The restaurant was not at all crowded and yet each part of the order took forever to reach our table - what was essentially a pub food meal (we ordered burgers) and dessert took THREE HOURS to complete. No apologies or comping from the server for the forgotten parts of our meal, no notice from the management that we were there for THREE hours... I will never recommend this place to anyone and I hope they step up their game.

My husband and I come here for special occasions, and we always leave feeling wonderful! The food is sooo delicious, the drinks are well-crafted, and service is perfect--timely, attentive, and friendly. We would recommend to anyone!

Was visiting from out of town and would go back to the restaurant. Classy restaurant with great Martinis. I would give the food 3 stars and the drinks 4 stars. Highly recommend the Oreo martini.

Went there for dinner with a group of friends and the service we had was not very good. It clearly was not busy as we were the largest and one of the handful of tables there. Never asked us for drinks or really acknowledged out attempt to put in drink orders and would walk away. This was relatively consistent throughout the night. Forgot to put in my order of a glass of wine, didn't ask the table if they wanted anything, just took one persons drink order then walked away. Once we got the food, my steak was actually pretty decent but the vegetables were a sad attempt. My girlfriends soup was barely luke warm and not that appetizing. I gave it a 2 because I would never care to return there and my friends 2nd attempt and said it was bad the first time. I was not happy that they automatically added a $10 tip since there was 9 of us, but the tip wasn't justified by our experience. Great service would warrant $15+ tip, but in this case little to no tip was justified. The two bartenders however were fairly attentive and made a decent old fashioned. However there were a number of glasses from previous customers that were sitting there for almost 30min before they were moved away from us. For as little number of people that were there, they didn't keep the bar top that clean. That was a turnoff.

Service was good bartender tried to be helpful, I had a lemon drop it was ok, my friend had a apple martini and it was terrible. Gets two stars for trying

Can't say I agree with the older reviews of this place. Never had a bad experience. Serves food late and at a decent price without sacrifice on quality. Good bartenders. Cool atmosphere. Live pianist frequently.

I was here for a bachelorette party...reservations were made for 7:30, table was not ready for us and when we finally did get our seat it took them an hour to get our drinks to us. We finally placed our food orders 45 minutes into our time there, and were told 10 minutes after that that our food would not be ready for an hour. The staff and manager were rude, and thought that it was acceptable to have people wait that long for food. There was never an apology for their poor service, just excuses. They were not that busy either...many empty tables in sight. Food came back good for most with an exception of one of us that ordered the fillet minogn, that came to her rare 3 times when it was ordered medium well...the third time the manager brought it back to the table was actually after we recieved our checks to pay! So 2 hours into this event they were still scrambeling trying to bring food to us and they wanted her to pay the full $31 for a meal served 1 hour after it was ordered when we were getting ready to leave. Above that I found the martinis to be over priced and not good at all at $11 a piece. The manager regularly rolled her eyes at our party throughout the evening. Very poor service at a very high price. On the flip side, the place was beautiful inside with a live person playing piano and singing for dinner music. My food was fantastic... This place has great potential, but I think new staff is in order to bring it up to where it should be.

I love this place. Great food! Reasonable prices. I have yet to find something I don't like. I try something new each time. Local beers, good drinks, music on a few nights (weekends I believe). I go to the Phoenix about once every two weeks. I recommend The Phoenix often!

Stopped by The Phoenix for some early Friday night dinner while in town for business. The bar was hopping but the restaurant was empty-ish. There's a nice upscale feel to the restaurant, and there are some nice architectural touches, like the exposed bring and restored ceilings. Since it was Friday night, my friend and I started out the evening with a $10 martini. Yes - $10. Seems a little steep to me - BUT - it was pretty strong. There were a couple vegetarian options for me on the menu. I started off with a mini greek salad. It was fresh and the olives were really good. For my main meal, I got a pasta primavera dish. It was pretty underwhelming. There weren't many veggies in the dish and the sauce was sort of bland. My coworker really enjoyed her jalapeno burger. It was a little spicier than she expected, but she really liked the way it was seasoned. If I were to be in Davenport again, I'd probably stop by for some drinks and to enjoy the ambiance but might skip the food. Overall a nice place to stop for dinner and a drink, though.

We went here with another couple on a Saturday night. We made a reservation and arrived essentially on time. They sat us in the back of a generally nice room. The look of the restaurant is really nice. The open kitchen is always confidence inspiring. However, our waitress was totally flustered and they were out of practically everything. They said it had been unexpectedly busy all day and they ran out of tons of stuff. I guess it happens, but its a Saturday night! They seemed understaffed and didn't clear dishes off any of the tables around us. The entire meal. Actually when they cleared out Applebees-quality first course, they ditched the dishes on the next table over for us to look at for the rest of the night. Our server actually fell up the 2-3 stairs leading to our section with a big crash. We asked if she was okay and she just continued to complain about how busy it was (didn't seem busy to me. I've been a server for 12 years) and acted all stressed and impatient every time she was at our table. The bottle of wine was nice, but all the food we got ranged from just okay to totally unappetizing. I'm not a total food snob or anything, and I don't know what the culinary bar is set at in Iowa, as I was just passing through, but I was really disappointed. My water glass was empty most of the night. I indulged on a Mediterranean pasta dish (a rarity for me), took two bites, and stopped. I just fished out the total of 4 olives and ate those, and skipped the rest. Wish I tried Woodfire next door instead.

Ordered the teriyaki chicken slaw salad. Specifically asked if it would have peppers in it and was told it did not. The menu did not list them as an ingredient. It did and I have food allergies. We'd ordered the artichoke spinach dip as an appetizer only to find peppers in it as well. This was not spelled out on the menu either. I don't know if we'll be back. If so, I will be sure to say "no peppers" to everything I order. P.S. dress warm for eating here in the winter. The bathrooms in the basement were about 15 degrees warmer. Nothing like shivering through dinner and leaving ice cold.

The wait staff is the only thing keeping this place from having a two block line. The food and drinks at this place are unbelievably great. I have yet to have a bad experience other than occasional slow wait staff. A great way to rehab a downtown building in the middle of all the action. You know everything is fresh and well prepared by good chefs as well because there are only so many of each entree available on any given day. This is really a high quality place.

The waitstaff is terrible. The food was only ok, but the martinis are great good luck getting the waitress to bring u a second.

Very original food for the Quad Cities, and very tasty. Service can be a little slow at times, but it's worth the wait.

Took over an hour to get our food, had a rude waitress, and watched groups around us all receive food to their tables at different times. Also a tiny menu, and nothing extraordinary. Manager did comp for the wait for the food, but I still was appalled.
