Great family owned restaurant. Food made from scratch...The bread is like no other and the sauce is amazing. I LOVE the Italian meatball on garlic bread! Can't beat the price...lunch special is only $2.75 for 8" sandwiches snd $4.25 for spaghetti with bread...best believe I am a devoted customer.

This place always makes me happy with the great food and old fashioned manner. They can be slow at times but perfection is worth the wait

I was really impressed by the food at Grinder's - didn't expect it to be so good just from looking at the appearance. Unfortunately, the past two times I have been to Grinder's I have found hair in my spaghetti. The first time I thought it was just a freak accident. I was there again and had the same problem. Suffice to say I won't be going back.

Well first I survived Sat. night dinner here. I had food poisoning from eating there. 2nd I'll be reporting it to the health dept. tomorrow when they're open. We always eat at the Bettendorf one, which is excellent and the Moline restaurant too. This was a 1st & and a last time to this place. We both found it odd that the food was steaming when it came to the table. Dead giveaway of microwaving. the spaghetti steamed, the sauce wasn't, hmmm? It wasn't steaming hot. The spaghetti also hadn't been drained properly either. So we both had puddles of watered down slop sauce. I made the HUGE mistake of ordering extra sauce, which the girl @ the front took the order and we paid for it, and it didn't arrive with the meal. The extra sauce was the kicker. It is what made me very ill when we asked a bus boy who delivered our meal where it was. We also order a soda and a water. No water. Slop on foam plates between 7:30-8 p.m. for almost $20. I barely made it home less than 10 mins. away, and hit my bathroom. Thank God (sorry gross) I threw it all up) and had awful stomach pains for over 2 hrs. I was doubled over lying on my living room floor. I came very close to going up here to the hospital, it was that bad. My friend did NOT have the extra sauce, I think that is why he wasn't sick, he did have terrible indigestion though. I am always unbiased in my reviews, but I am going to tell the truth. And this is the truth. They were so close to closing, they were picking up all the salt and pepper shakers off the tables. I think the food had been set out to cool before putting in a walk-in, if done properly and we ended up with microwaved spaghetti sauce, improperly held @ correct temp or it was left to cool, I don't know. As far as the service and the food go, the service was lacking. The employees didn't smile one iota. The girl taking the order answered one question of ours, turned her back to us and was drinking out of a cup and ignored us when we were ready to order. We did NOT feel welcome there. I went to the restroom to wash up before our food was delivered to our table and the garbage bags from the restrooms were thrown on the middle of the little hallway floor....really. Not charming. So no we will never go back there again, the food making me ill, the lack of making customers welcome there, it was just off in all ways. They are way overdue for a health inspection. I'm calling tomorrow!

This place was a staple for me in college, as it is right down the road from St. Ambrose University. Also, it's very cheap! Cheap is always good for college kids. Aside from those two good qualities, I love this place because the food is great. It's pretty simple in presentation, but it's always enjoyable. I'm a big fan of their ravioli and tortellini. Their garlic bread! Oh, don't get me started on that. I'm pretty sure I could eat an entire loaf (or two) of that in one sitting. It's so, so good! The presentation is pretty simple. Food is served on Styrofoam plates. The decor of the restaurant itself could use some updating. It's definitely not trying to a be a fancy restaurant in there. Food is ordered by walking up to a window (which can make for a long line when they are busy). After ordering, you are given a number and you pick out your own table from whatever is available. The wait for your food is usually pretty short, so that's a definite bonus. Overall, this is a great place for a quick and cheap lunch or dinner. The food is very good, but the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired. It's not terrible or junky, it just needs some work.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
