Food is great. I've had the italian beef, gyros, and souvlaki and all were amazing. Its a greek / chicago style restaurant. Its not fast food so I don't recommend the drive thru.

We ordered baklava. Received our order. Instead of baklava wrapped in tin foil it was old disgusting moldy meat. Called the restaurant and they wouldn't refund us but give us a credit for next time. Never going there again so I refused the credit and demanded a refund.

Chicken Breast Plate for 8.49 Two pieces of chicken marinated and char-grilled was tasty with fresh lettuce and tomato, and peppery vinegar dressing. I liked the lemony rice. The Greek fries a bit too oily for my taste. Clean and friendly. I'll return.

Awesome Food. Went in to grab a quick bite to eat (take out) and waited 17 minutes for my order; which is not exactly quick. Then got home ready to dig into my Gyro platter and found it without the fries. Called them and told them I was coming back and once I arrived had to wait another 5 minutes! Like I said, the food was delicious, but don't go if you're in a hurry...

The food here is fantastic, but make sure to go in store or pick up. I just waited literately two hours for delivery on a Sunday night. My food was obviously cold.

a fair amount of greasy but dry gyro meat. burnt pita bread and a ton of onions and under ripe tomatoes. staff was far from friendly. was craving a good gyro and left dissatisfied. but not craving anything. I was here a couple years ago and now remember why I hadn't returned in so long.

Been here twice and disappointed each time. First time was to check it out. The second was because Petra's was closed. The second time was worst than the first. I guess if I was drunk walking home from a football game and needed food, this place might suffice but barely. The gyro platter is total crap. Rice was greasy and the Greek potatoes was horrible. I would avoid at all costs. How this place manages to stay in business is besides me.

Nice Greek food, it's not Greek Town in Chicago, but good clean Greek food. I like the chicken Greek Salad. It's a fast food ambiance, great for take out. Nice mobile app.

I like the Italian beef and sausage very much. The French fries are very good. typical Chicago style sandwich shop. the Chicago dogs alright little overpriced

i was in chicago last weekend and i'm walking by portillo's and contemplate getting a beef and i decide i'll just get a beef at sparti's when i get back. now that i'm back home and got sparti's, i do not at all regret my decision. sparti's has the best beefs in town. make sure to ask for it dipped. oh yeah -- all the pros get theirs with mozzarella cheese too. now go get yourself a beef! NOW! and if you're extra hungry, ask for a chicken skewer on the side. and to avoid being arrested, also ask for mild sauce. (it is a crime to not get sparti's mild sauce when consuming chicken skewers).

I recommend the gyro with everything on it. Great sauce, generous with meat, overall a good value!

Not great food, but also not bad. Wouldn't come here voluntarily, but would eat the food if someone offered it to me

Fast food this isn't. It was not particularly busy, but it still took about 26 mins to get our gyro. The gyro meat was tasty and the portion size was large enough to share. Price was reasonable and there was a "deal" available to unlock on Yelp for an order of fries. Restaurant was clean and so were the washrooms

Me and a friend go out once a month to different places. She said here. My 1st ever experience with Greek food....It was GREAT! I can't even guess how to spell the name of the foods...I tried 3 different sandwiches...ALL great. You can't miss with this great place for food. Went back for a 2nd visit and tried some more off the menu,.Also awesome. I can't spell or even pronounce it...but some great Pita bread...some chicken bits on scewers..some beef slice thingys...LOL...so far..two visits...8 different items I can't pronounce...and they were ALL great. The food is usually good. Once and a while I wonder if the cook took the day off and someone is filling in. My favorite is the chicken platter with rice. Tastes like old Greek lady from church made it. The rice pudding is also very good. Would have given higher rating, but the food is not consistent.

We stopped in here on our return trip to central Iowa after fueling up and on the lookout for something a little more exotic to eat in an area dominated by common fast food places. We were two of four total customers in this place and it took almost 20 minutes to get our food, a chicken souvlaki sandwich and a gyro. The help seemed a bit spacey and aloof. The food itself was solid, but I would probably not recommend this as a timely option for "road food."

We stopped in tonight for the gyro combo, a gyro sandwich, big bag of fries and a 20 oz. fountain drink. There was plenty for both of us to share. Crispy fries, not the fresh cut kind, but tasty. They do Chicago style gyros here (my fav) with grilled pillow-y pita, lots of meat, onions, tomato (I think there was tomato) and tzatziki sauce. The sauce was too runny for my liking, see pic. The real deal breaker for me was the pre-sliced meat. Are you kidding me? I've had Gryros this good in the frozen section at Aldi. Who has the best Chicago style gyro in the corridor? Try The Gryo Hut in Cedar Rapids. Yes, it's a little dive in the hood with no sit down area, but so worth going out of your way. Real, big chucks of gyro meat cut right fro m the cone. Just $5.99 for the most generous gyro in the area plus fries and a can of pop. yelp.com/biz/gyro-hut-ce…

As far as fast food goes, this is definitely a cut above the franchises, even if it's not quite as fast. Their chicken pitas are great. If you like feta, try the greek fries. Delivery is an option, but you're better off eating in or doing the drive-thru -- delivery to Iowa City is often slow in my experience.

Good gyros, not what I expected when I went in however. This is the first gyro place that is set up like a fast food joint. That said, the food was actually pretty decent. The size of the gyro was ample and the falafel was pretty decent. Worth checking out if you're looking for something quick on the strip. Also, they deliver which is legit. Order yourself some happiness and they'll deliver!

Deceiving... you'd think it was a Mediterranean or Greek restaurant, but the menu is more reflective of a Chicago food cart. Everything from polish sausage, CHI dogs, ital beef, burgers, salads, chicken, pitas, souvlaki, gyros, hummus, fries to baklava. Prices are decent, food is prepared in a timely fashion, plenty of seats, staff was friendly. I typically get the CHI dogs and fries. Which are pretty good for a lunch. They do have a drive thru, but I'd prob just go inside to order.

  • Matt B.

I definitely like their gyros and italian beefs.. Pop's, the food cart downtown, has better italian beefs, but Sparti's are also good. I usually get a gyro, because they are absolutely huge and a much better deal than any other gyro place in town. Avoid the drive thru, as gyro and sandwich portions are much smaller compared to the "dine-in" version. I've had a variety of side dishes - spanikopita, greek potatoes, fries, cheese balls, etc....all are just ok. Nice because they are different, but definitely could be better prepared.

Great food, quick service (granted this was middle of the week...no one else there). I loved the sauce for the beef Gyro. Also, the beef was excellent. Would go again.

Excellent gyros. Their valpak coupons make it even better! But... How can a hot dog be "Chicago-style" without Vienna beef? Blasphemy!

The food was great and prices were good although we had it delivered and the food was on the cold side

This is a great fast food option. My bf loves that they're generous with their portions of meat on the gyros. I love that they make the food fresh and delicious. I would recommend going inside to pick up the food rather than using the drive-through though; every time I have gone the wait has been a bit long...but maybe that's b/c they're making the food to order?! Love grabbing Sparti's for lunch.

I stoped yesterday in sparti's, i ordered gyro sandwich, big bag of fries and a 20 oz. fountain drink. There was plenty food, Crispy fries, not the fresh cut kind, but tasty. They do Chicago style gyros here also, lots of meat, onions, tomato and tzatziki sauce. The sauce was too runny for my liking, see pic. The real deal breaker for me was the pre-sliced meat. I've had better gyro before, but this is not to bad

0 stars really. No choice for 1 star. Walked in, place looked like a sports bar. Selling cheeseburgers and all this other crap, along with gyros? I think not. I doubt the authenticity of their so-called Mediterranean food. Guy at the cashier was rude, did not greet. Just stood there watching us with some dirty look. Guess what? We walked out. Ever heard of customer service? I doubt it if the Pita Pit is authentic, but the kid who works there has more manners than the grown ass man working here. Sad.

All I've ever gotten are the gyros, which are good. You get so much meat on the gyros, it's simply American. Order an extra pita ($1) and the gyro sandwich will feed two. There is also the gyro "plate" which has even more meat. I think if you are able to single-handedly finish the gyro plate, you should get a T-shirt or your name on a plaque or something. It's something between fast food and a real restaurant. I'd say it's more of a place you would go for lunch, but not for dinner.

It's about time Iowa City/Coralville got a real greasy spoon. This place does it like it should. Chicago style dogs, thin sliced gyros off the spit, Souvlaki with a smokey greek flavor to it, greek fries with a lemony cheesy flavor, and a menu worthy of any appetite. I kid you not, this is the best retaurant in the area for Gyros by far. Tzaziki sauce is a little but runny for my taste but the gyros are made right. The plate is huge and you get plenty of food. Also convenient drive thru and comfortable dining area with flat screen tvs. Not necessarily the best burger in town but the Gyros make this place worth the trip.

I can't say that I can really review this restaurant. A friend told me about their Baklava. Sounded pretty good. I've experienced Baklava several times at various places. I would say that their is average. The price is $1.99 for a triangled half square. I ordered 4 of these to-go so that we could share them with others. I could see that there was a sign on the counter inviting customers to sample the Baklava. When the employee opened the container I could see 4 nice full sized pieces in the back of the container and about 4 smaller sized (half height) ones near the front that were sitting in paper wrappers for easy grabbing by the customer. I assumed that these were the samples. But instead of the employee giving me all 4 of the nice full sized ones for my $8 he put 2 of the them and then 2 of the samples sized ones in my box. I, of course, felt cheated. This was just my experience. Your's may differ.

wasn't expecting a greek/gyro joint to be set up fast food style...however the food wasn't bad- good tasting, but being a fast food establishment, don't expect anything fancy- paper plates, plastic utensils, etc. good food, but i've had better. i recommend this place if you are craving greek food and you gotta have it asap: they deliver! they have a drive thru window too haha.

Found out about this place from my boss. OMG! This place has amazing Chicago style food. I go there once a week since moving to IC. I try different things every week and still loving it. So far, the Gyro sandwich and Chicago style polish dogs are awesome. They have a drive thru and motorcycle specials on Monday. What more can you ask for?

The gyros are delicious. The wait in the drive-thru can be a little long, but it's worth the wait.

Great gyros and Chicago style hot dogs! In an earlier review someone mentioned that the gyro meat is presliced which isn't true. If you eat inside the restaurant you can see the spit rotating with deliciously fresh meat.

Pretty bland Gyros. Coming from NYC, I was really disappointed in this place. Get the Philly sandwiches. Avoid the Gyros.

$14 for a few slices of animal product that were lukewarm gyro heresy.

Pretty good. Had the Gyro Plate. Huge portions. You coudl get one place and split it between three people. Missed the lettuce that you usually get with a Gyro plate and the tomatos were very good and fresh but not grilled.

Large portions great price, Good food fast. If you like Greek and Chicago comfort foods you'll like it and it's much easier than driving to Chicago.

My first impressions: the service was helpful and friendly, the gyro sandwich I ordered was fresh, tasty, and was perfectly seasoned, but the cheese fries were soggy and greasy. I strongly suspect the "cheese" they were smothered with was actually some sort of liquid polymer (I jest, of course, but seriously: it was awful). I'll go back to sample some more of their menu, but I'll skip the fries next time.
