Nothing at all like the one at the Lake! We were seated right away, about 4 tables full on. Friday afternoon about 1. The service was awful, she didn't know the menu, we repeated our order several times. Some of the food was so so, some was just bad! The burnt ends were in were some kind of disgusting sauce. Totally inedible. Of the 7 orders, 3 came out right. No apologies. We will not be going back.

Tried out Wobbly Boots tonight for the first time. The atmosphere and staff are great and friendly. Our server, Cassie, recommended the Pulled Pork Nachos or Wings for a starter - we tried the nachos and they were fantastic. I tried the two meat plate with smoked turkey and briskit burnt ends with "smashed potatoes" and gravy. My fiance got the chicken fried chicken. The portions were enormous and the prices were very reasonable. The food was excellent and doing really well for being brand new. This place is just going to get better!

Three of us for dinner for first time today. They were a little short staffed for the crowd so though there were empty tables, we had a 15 minute wait. I ordered the ribs and wow---you get a lot of ribs and they are loaded with meat. Have never seen a slab of ribs that big. Shared with others and everyone loved the rich smoky flavor. Our table had the onion rings (huge), baked beans (very good), baked potato (size of my foot), cole slaw (fresh, crunchy, good), and brisket sandwich. Brisket had a nice smokey flavor and was sliced thin such as you get in the south, which is how I prefer it. Everyone was happy with their meal and my huge rib platter which I shared with them and still had a half slab to take home. Would return. Because there were many open tables but we still had a wait, we debated leaving and going over to Bakers Square, but ultimately were glad we stayed and gave it a try. They get your cell number when you check in and text you when your table is ready. You can check your place on the waiting list by downloading and installing an app but I found doing that kind of tedious and didn't necessarily like giving my phone # and email address to do that.

Cheesy Corn with Ham!!!!!! OMG I also had the brisket sandwich for lunch & it was awesome! Did I mention the Cheesy Corn with Ham? Service was great atmosphere perfect for me! The smell of the Cheesy Corn with Ham was to die for & taste you thought you were dead & in heaven! All around not bad for my first time here! Lots to decide from & I will be going back soon to try many other things in the menu!!

Wobbly Boots has a great menu and a very friendly staff. Some days I give them a 5 star review because the food is great! We enjoy the baked potato soup and my son cant get enough of their mac and cheese! Plus, I always get the boneless wings and they are always great! The problem is, they lack consistency. If you go on a "5 star day" you wont be disappointed.. But if you go on "a 3 star day" you might be feeling a little disappointed.. Or like it was ok.. Could have been better, could have been worse. The consistency of the mac and cheese and the soup is different from day to day. Unsure if it is because of different cooks or what. If they maintained their strong consistency, they would be one of the better restaurants in the area. The environment is great and kid friendly. I am never disappointed with the staff!! I enjoy going to Wobbly Boots, but I would enjoy it more knowing it will be "a 5 star visit" everytime!! So much potential!!

We had an okay time here. The staff was friendly and the service was good. I got chicken fried chicken and it looked good. The chicken, gravy, and green beans tasted good but the mashed potatoes were not good. They had a glue like consistency and were not what I would call smashed potatoes. My fiancé had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and said it was good. Would I eat here again? Only if others really wanted to. There are better places to get similar food.

We were not aware this place was open for business until we received a gift card. We went on a Thursday evening around 5:30 pm. The restaurant looked totally different than the previous one; wide open concept with several TV screens. We started off with bacon wrapped shrimp and ordered a slab of baby back ribs to share. For the sides we ordered two house salads for additional $2 each. The bacon wrapped shrimp tasted great. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, but the bacon could have been a little more crispy. The ribs were delicious. They were my kind of ribs that do not fall off the bone. The salads were not very fresh. Good service.

A couple of MO friends took us saying that it was amazing and they have been there multiple times since they moved into town. Went in about 7 on a Friday night. We waited about 25 min to get seated as the place was packed. We started with fried pickles which were thicker slices. This I thought was better than the stupid thin pickles that many of the places carry. I enjoy the pickle spears the most but these were okay. I ordered the meat platter. 2 meats. I got pulled pork and the burnt ends. I was told the mac and cheese was good so that was my side with the curly fries. Without extra sauce the meat seemed a little dry to me but the burnt ends were actually pretty good tasting and they had a lot of sauce and were not dry at all. Ok so half and half there. The curly fries were nothing special and just a filler. The mac and cheese was close tasting to velveta shells but kinda hit the spot. My fiance got the three meat platter so I got to try his pork and ham. I guess I just wasnt enjoying it to terribly much. He also go the unique side of cheese corn with ham. That I was not a fan of, but I am also not a fan of corn in mac and cheese, whoever thought of that mix was nuts. So overall I walked away full from the meal but I know I have had much better bbq around town and even at home. The staff were very nice and I didnt have a problem with the place at all just mostly not impressed. It did seem to take a long time to get our food and it wasnt piping hot when it came, but it was still hot enough. My fiance loved it so I am sure we will go back but I know I will be eating something else next time, unless its just the burnt ends, cause I did enjoy those.

Here in Des Moines doing business, and I am from Texas, so thought I would check this restaurant out bring hungry for bbq. Horrible...brisket was sliced thinner than even roast beef that I have been served, and there was absolutely no taste to the meat. Serve leather next time, better value, I am sure. The coleslaw was so dry, they should have just served me the head of cabbage. The mac n cheese was just passable, therefore yielding my two star rating. I am not evaluating this place compared to great Texas bbq, they just definitely need to check their food for taste. Service was good and the beer I had was cold. Yuck!

My husband and I stopped for a late lunch and we're glad we did. Our waiter, Bryan, was the best. We ordered onion rings, a brisket sandwich, and prime rib french dip. The onion rings were enormous and fabulous. My french dip was wonderful and was accompanied by a mound of curly fries. We'll definitely return to Wobbly Boots.

Came here a while back with the men-folk in our family and found it to be Duhrivative. I honestly did not care for my meal. I ordered a burger & fries, some hot and spicy thingy, and it just didn't impress. Both of my sons, who were very excited to try it, left thinking it was marginal. For franchise-style BBQ, if you must, I'd prefer Famous Daves.

Went for lunch. I asked how the brisket was and the server told me it was great. Not so much... It tasted like yesterdays smoked brisket microwaved for today. I told the server and he was very understanding but told me they didn't have a microwave. He offered me a different item. I chose the wings which tasted ok. You can tell they use gas grills. The service was great and the beer was cold. Two stars for service 0 for food.

Stopped for lunch on Saturday. I liked the looks of the place, nice job on decorating. Sat at bar and ordered lunch. Good selection of taps, nice local brews. Food was just ok, not great but not bad. Burnt ends, sausage, pulled pork, beans and Mac cheese. Appetizer of crab stuffed mushroom. Beans need work, sausage ok, everything else just lacking something. The owners may need to stop at a few local bbq places around Des Moines area and compare what they are offering. They may need to step it up. If food is just ok, you need to be in a great location, which this place is not. If food is unbelievable good, your location could be anywhere and place would be successful. We will give it another try, maybe just off day.

Stopped in for the 1st time last week. What a great atmosphere.laid back and quieter than other BBQ joints. The food was absolutely amazing! And great portion sizes! I'm early looking forward to going back.

Ate lunch here during the work week with colleagues. Given the fact that this location seems to have the kiss of death I was curious to see what had been done with it. What I learned is that the inside has been totally renovated leaving a western-themed interior that is a little over-the-top, but tolerable even for those not into cowboy boots. The bar seemed well set up and featured a surprising number of draft beer selections. Service was friendly and did a nice job. This was the most memorable part of the experience. Meals ordered were all variants of smoked meats on sandwich buns. My brisket was better than expected (decent smoke ring and thinly cut, ok flavor), others seemed to enjoy the turkey and pork more. The two of us with brisket both agreed it was OK but there is far better to found in Des Moines. No one was overwhelmed with the quality of the meat. In short, expect a clean establishment, average food with passable flavor, and good service. This is an ideal place to take your in laws. 2.5 stars

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse in Clive. I went into it with mixed expectations since I'd only seen mediocre reviews at best. I found the service excellent. Our server was a gal probably in her early twenties...jet black hair...pony tail...dark eye liner...and a nose ring. I wish I could remember her name... Fantastic. I looked over the menu; there's A LOT of things going on...some things you wouldn't expect. They're definitely not confined to a smoked beef or pork menu. I asked for a recommendation from the server and ended up ordering burnt ends with sides of mac-n-cheese and seasoned curly fries. My companion ordered the smoked turkey with sides of cottage cheese and mashed potatoes (served with a brown beef gravy). Okay...this is going to get me in hot water. I found the burnt ends better than Smokey Ds and her smoked turkey was a light smoke and was very good. I thought at first the house BBQ sauce left a little to be desired...but the longer it sits on your tongue the more it warms up...but even at it's hottest it's not more than above a medium heat. The mac-n-cheese was awesome. I know that was a recent thread here by itself...given the option and a little more flair (add bacon or chicken) I'd order their mac-n-cheese by itself. Overall I thought the meal was VERY GOOD. Better than Smokey Ds (without the variety or BBQ sauces though) and almost rivaling Hickory Park. With sodas and two plates our dinner came to just over $26 before tip, and we were both full. I'll definitely be going back. Maybe the crew there is more seasoned now that they've been in business longer? I can't say really...I can only rate them on my experience. Two menu items that caught my eye for future visits are the crab rangoon flatbread and the mushroom, ham, and swiss burger. However...I'll make sure to ask my server for their opinion first. As a side-note...not everyone has the same palate or taste...take a server's recommendations for what they are. Just an opinion. I actually do this a lot when I go to new places where I'm not familiar with the menu...and let's face it...your server wants you to be happy. Happy people leave bigger tips. ;)

Wasnt a fan of the sauces. The meat was bland and lacked the smoke flavor. I might give a tenderloin or wings a try if i ever end up back

If you're looking for really good bbq, this is not it. This place has a lot going for it... Good service, great local beer selection, short wait, good location, reasonable prices. I've seen a few restaurants come and go at this place. It's a cool building & I'd like to see something survive here. The food is average to good, but there is way better bbq in dm. We had brisket and ribs which were average, but good enough that we ate everything. It's a solid meal, but not stellar. Looks like they'll have a nice patio in summer.

I wanted to love this place- the inside is adorable and the staff were polite enough. However, my ribs were very tough and dry, and there was hardly any meat on the rack of ribs I ordered. The potato salad was pretty bland, the fries were "eh", and my boyfriend wasn't happy with his entree either. Probably won't waste money there again.

No wait upon arrival and very friendly staff. They were actually genuinely happy to be there. Our waitress was excellent and did everything right. Our food came out very fast and it was delicious!! The bathroom was spotless and it was an all around great experience.

Despite being a barbecue restaurant, there is no smoky, meaty aroma inside or outside the building. My lunch partner had the brisket sandwich with mashed potatoes; I had the rarebit burger with cheesy corn and ham. The rarebit was great. Everything else underperformed. The brisket was tender and had a small burst from the vinegary Kraft Foods-like sauce, then faded to nothing. The mashed potatoes and gravy were standard institutional fare. The rarebit burger was cooked to my preference and served on Texas toast with cooked onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. I asked for no peppers. The sauce had the texture that I expected and had a spicy tang rather than a cheesy tang, which the server informed be about before ordering. The corn looked like it had cheese, but I tasted no cheese; it tasted like canned corn. The menu name included ham, but the ham was very minute in amount and flavor. The atmospere is OK -- like you are outside with chairs from a classroom. The music was very loud so we couldn't hear the staff very well. The furniture was treated to appear worn, but the distressing was applied in nonsensical places, like on the rungs where a person would not rest her/his feet, where a backside would not have contact with a seat, where a hand would not grab a chair to move it. Many flat screen TV's were hung, but there was no closed captioning.
