Basically just like any Starbucks... It's reliable, and convenient. The staff is either really lovely, or seemingly miserable, depending on the day and time. The drinks and food are pretty consistent, and so far I haven't had either an amazing, or awful experience.

Im kinda disappointed in this Starbucks. I always order the same drink at every one I go to. For some reason its $.50 more here than at any other store. They also never make it properly. When I got mine today the whip tasted and smelled spoiled. I'm just never impressed or happy with my order here.

I'm not sure why this Starbucks has the low ratings that it does. It's a fantastic location, and in fact, it's one of my favorites. If you come during high-traffic times (morning, right after work, or right during lunch), do expect to spend some time in the drive-thru or in the line waiting. It's not an unreasonable wait, though, and unlike other Starbucks chains I've been to, this one does a pretty good job of keeping up with orders. I've been here at least a hundred times, and I've never had a particular complaint with my drink. Sometimes it's sweeter or a little less sweet, but it's within my idea of "acceptable" variance for a hand-made drink. Staff has always been friendly, and after I became a regular, they did remember my drink and my car, and that's always a nice touch. Very friendly staff who seem to know what they're doing. Interior is clean, but since this is Ames and this is really the only stand-alone Starbucks in town, it can be hard to find a spot to sit at - especially in evening hours. They have table areas with chairs as well as general, single lounge-like chairs. Great arrangement with furniture, though. Even in the single, lounge-like chairs, they have a little sidetable next to each chair where a coffee could be placed. I've done work here before with absolutely no problem. It's peaceful and enjoyable. They've done a good job of keeping up the interior and exterior, and everything looks quite nice and modern. In the warmer months, they do have outdoor seating as well. My biggest complaint is that I absolutely HATE the parking lot layout here. It's hard to explain, but if a car entering the parking lot isn't watching, it's very easy to back into another car. Some cars really come barreling into the lot (because this business is off Lincoln Way and some people only have a tiny opportunity to make the left-hand turn), and it gets dangerous. The parking lot starts only about a car's length away from the road itself. It also only has room for a single car to be driving around at once. So if there's a car trying to turn left onto Lincoln Way from the parking lot, you'll be stuck waiting behind them even if you only just want to turn right. This also means that, when the drive-through is full and backed up all the way around the building, people in the parking lot pretty much can't pull out and escape. I avoid parking here as much as humanly possible because I really do just hate the parking lot. One of the better Starbucks that I've had the pleasure of enjoying on a regular basis. If they fixed the parking lot, I'd be a much happier camper, but there's only so much they can do with the limited space they have off Lincoln.

I came to this Starbucks last Sunday afternoon, looking for a Wi-Fi signal (my digital life), a NY Times (a long time analog tradition), and of course a small cup of coffee (black). This Lincoln Way outpost was a little quiet and I easily found a nice comfy chair in the front corner for me and my iPad. Service was fine, the coffee was good, and the work I needed to do got done.

I go here often. But the few times I've got my small order messed up is enough for me not to give them any higher then a 3. I try to support local but sometimes all you need is starbucks. Half off Frappicinos great. I am a gold member so free refills inside. Great place to study or for chatting if its not the week before finals.
