Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Probably the best 70s vibed restaurant in Ames. The second story restaurant has the perfect amount of late night lighting, plants caress the window sill of the entire back wall, relic posters cover the walls, and a vintage pacman video game sits in the dining area. As for the food it's pizza and similar eats, which is difficult to mess up or stray far from the expected. Totally recommended for a late night date due to the lack of customers that dine-in after 8 when ordering pizza. Enjoy this hidden gem!

This place? This place is adorable. Do you realize what you guys are sitting on here? It's a real life pizza parlor. Do you understand how cool that is? A few days after I went here I was in Wisconsin, and I found a real life soda fountain, too. The midwest is like a Disneyland fairytale. It's so cute and awesome, I almost can't stand it. We don't have pizza parlors in California. We have pizza hut and dominoes, and Italian restaurants, but no honest to goodness, polly-pocket-like pizza parlors. Anyway, I don't have much more to say about this place than that. My boyfriend loves the fried cheese balls enough that we made a special trip here to get them before we left town, so that must mean something significant. They changed their ranch since he last had it, though, and he was sorely disappointed about that. Apparently this place used to have the best ranch on the planet, and now it's gone. If the owners read this, please take that to heart. It was a big deal to him. Oh, oh, they have Micky and Minnie Mouse as gender markers on the bathroom door, and a big epic poster of the Starship Enterprise on the wall when you walk in. My inner Disney fan and my lesser known inner Trekkie is well appeased.

I ADORE Pizza Pit. My parents went in the 80's when they were in school, and I have become a regular as well. Their appetizers are awesome, my boyfriend and I love the garlic bread and cheeseballs in particular. Their sandwiches are delicious, I love the meatball sub. I also really love their drummies - always cooked well. Pizza is great too! Delivery is always timely and the food is always still delicious and hot. I'd highly recommend this place!

I don't care what anybody says, this place is a great place to stop by to remind me of the best years of my life while a student. Not fancy, but reasonable and consistent. Love the thick crust and the wings ain't bad. I will always come back.

The pizza was just alright but I must say that they had some of the best cocktails, shots, and specialty drinks I have ever had. My friends and I were only in the lower part of the building (21+) and it was great! It is cash only but there is an ATM in the room. The beer selection was decent. If you like sweet drinks, try the fucked up minnow farmer. All of the shots we tried were awesome! Especially the oatmeal cookie and the fruity white Russian. This was probably the best place we went to during our visit to Ames.

This is a Four star College town type of place. They offer 20" pizza! The wings also are very good! The only thing is that their hottest sauce, really isn't that hot. So if you live near campus town, give pizza pit a try. And go with the taco pizza!

Confession: I've never been IN Pizza Pit, and I find it slightly ironic that Pizza Pit is on the second floor and Welch Ave. Station is in the basement. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I have, however, eaten my fair share of Pizza Pit since they deliver! Pizza Pit pizza is simple and satisfying. It isn't pretentious gourmet pizza, but it is delicious. So, too, are the chicken drummies. I've heard good things about the hoagies as well, but haven't taken the opportunity to try one yet. Pizza Pit is quick and cheap and yummy. Delivery is free, plus you can order and eat it at Welch Ave. Station.

I've never been inside, because I have (very) severe agoraphobia and have everything delivered to my house. The food is always above par and the deliveries are always prompt, friendly and professional. My favorite delivery guy is some Greek (?) guy named Bebram (?). I love the food, especially the wings.

As far as pizza places go this really isn't much different than any other delivery joint in town, especially in a college town. With one exception, and it's the reason why it gets four stars. Inferno Wings. These are not sauced wings however they are wings with the spices already blended into the breading, and they are quite possibly the best wings around. If you want them even hotter ask for a side of the hot dipping sauce to go with them. I wish a Pizza Pit would open in Des Moines just so I could have easy access to the wings.

30+ years ago, when I attended ISU, I ate at Pizza Pit 2 or 3 nights a week. I always liked the thin crust, extra-garlicky sauce, and the sausage they use. Ordered with extra sauce, the leftovers wouldn't dry out in the refrigerator overnight and would be perfect for breakfast. I recently stopped in during a quick trip to Iowa, and the food and decor are exactly the same as they were after the place was remodelled in the early 1980s. The sauce, cheese, dough, and sausage were identical to wha they served 30 years ago. Fun fact -- under the paneling, the walls are covered with murals of iconic figures of the 60s and before. Everyone from Jesus to Woody Allen. Maybe someday someone will take down the paneling and restore the murals. It would be a lot more interesting than the decor that's there.

This is my go-to place for indigestion pizza. I don't know why I love it, but the over-salted sauce calls to me. Throw on some extra cheese and the topping of your choice and you're in heaven. (or I guess I am) I know some people don't like that the sauce keeps you up all night, but as a night owl, I'm a big fan. The actual restaurant is above a bar and is like any normal place but I usually get my pizza delivered.

Pizza Pit is an Ames institution. I remember going as a kid, when pizza was a rare and special thing. It is frozen in time, a pizza shop of decades past when wood paneling was cool. If you should find your self in PIzza Pit, take note of a few things. 1. That it looks like a basement (Despite the fact that it's on the second floor) from the 80's. 2. The diagram of the Enterprise (TNG era) in the entranceway. 3. The classic arcade selection. 4. The 100% incandescent glow that makes everyone and everything look like its covered in light varnish. As for the food, it's wonderfully archaic. The pizza is pre-chain (yes I realize it's a chain, but it doesn't feel like it), pre-gourmet, pre-rediscovering what italian food is all about. It's dough, sauce, and toppings. The crust is fairly thin, which means it's not overly filling, the ingredients are nostalgically plain, and yet for some reason I have to keep going back. There's a scene early in E.T. where they order pizza and it gets dropped and ruined, yet they peel it off the cardboard and eat it anyway. For some reason, as a child, I always felt that what they were salvaging from the dusty stepped-on box was Pizza Pit pizza.

Plain pizza, plain toppings, plain dining room. Didn't have to wait too long. Not too pricy.

Decent pizza and subs for cheap prices. They usually have a pretty good daily deal going on and coupons on their website. Also, free delivery!

surprisingly decent for the midwest. most places around here basically make tv dinner "pizzas" but pizza pit somehow manages to get the basic texture and consistency down. best way i can describe it: california pizza kitchen pizza halfway through metamorphosis into pizza hut pizza. nowhere near the real thing but still edible. also their cups are massive. that's pretty cool.

I have been a Pizza Pit fan. Extra sauce and extra cheese add a nice touch to any pizza combination. Long time community supporter, Pizza Pit has free delivery.
