Bought lunch for the boyfriend since he was craving korean food... just like your average Tasty's... he got the kalbi and chicken which he stated had flavor... sides had flavor as well... I don't think they have the best long rice though... either it's super bland or it has a funky aftertaste... but that's just me! I'd rather go to Yummy's in Pearlridge! Prices are comparable to other korean plate lunch joints and there is ample parking in the lot... enough seating inside but it gets super busy during lunch. Staff is nice...

I love me some Korean food but this place will charge you for everything they can and then some! I think their AC is out because everytime i go there it is blazing hot in there. The wait time is decent and so is the selection.

This was a disappointment. I had eaten food from this eatery before (employee appreciation, fundraisers) and it was not good; food dried out, bland and thrown together. But hey, the meal was either free or for a good cause so no big deal. I thought it must be good when ordering in person, no? NOT. Obviously most people have a good experience here but not me. I walked into the "restaurant" at 11:00 a.m. on a Monday and there was only one employee working the front area and she was on the phone, probably taking an order. There were several people waiting for their food and one person in line in front of me to order. When the employee took the order of the person in front of me she worked at a snail's pace even though she was a young lady. After five minutes she finally acknowledged me and I ordered a mini BBQ chicken plate. I asked if they served brown rice and in one breath she said, "No, $8.25." Wow, laulau, where's the Aloha spirit? So I gave her a twenty, she gave me change and order number and she asked what vegetables I wanted, all without even looking at me once. Subsquently another worker rushed in, obviously late from lunch or the start of her shift. The first thing she did was answer the ever-ringing phone. A cook came out from the back and looked like she had just butchered a cow. Yikes. Then the two front employees were having trouble sorting out the orders. Surprisingly, my number was called. The late-arriving employee gave me my order and she, too, did not even look at me even when I said "thank you." The two employees started laughing and yacking together in their native tongue. I get much better service from a ten-year-old selling newspapers from the curb. Anyway, when I got back to the office, I found my order was made partiallly wrong. I got cabbage and cucumber kim-chee for vegetables when I ordered zucchini and bean sprouts. It was probably another person's order. So, for 8 bucks there was a small scoop of rice, one dried-out piece of chicken, and one undercooked piece, plus the veggies I don't like. It was obvious the chicken had been pre-cooked and just thrown on the grill to warm up. I would have given it a one star only for the overall experience, but true to its name, the chicken was tasty. I was still hungry as I could not eat the medium-rare or cardboard portions of the chicken (my fork broke!). With so many options in the shopping mall, I'll be eating else where I am treated with aloha, get a quality product, and receive better value.

I don't know much about the Korean culture, so I can't tell you what's authentic or not. Like Meat Jhun! Apparently it's not 'real' Korean food. And you know how corn is an option for your banchan? I didn't know corn was a Korean thing. Anyways, I love this Tasty's. Okay, it's the only Tasty's I've been to, but they seriously PACK on the food! I think it's because they're true Filipino ladies, you know the ones that always make sure everyone's well-fed, even though they're not hungry. One regular plate has been enough to feed my sister AND her two kids. My mom and dad always share a plate, and there's still leftovers. For some strange reason, whenever we order from here, this ravenous monstrous feeling comes over and I feel like I can eat the whole plate by myself, stuffing my face like I haven't seen food in weeks. It always defeats me, I usually eat only half. (And trust me, I can eat a lot. I've consumed an entire entree of Chili's Steak and Portabello Fajitas in one sitting. I'm quite proud of that record lol.) I've weighed this plate. It comes in at over 2 pounds! Combination plates are less than $9, and they throw in this mixed vegetable tempura-looking thing that I never eat and a man doo. I always get the Meat Jhun and Kal-Bi, but the first thing I eat is the man doo, crispy and tasty. I have issues with their Meat Jhun. Half the time when I bite into it, the egg coating comes off. I've made Meat Jhun in my high school food science class, and sad to say, ours tasted better. We probably marinated it longer though. But their sauce is good. It doesn't taste like just shoyu (like Yummy's in Pearlridge). Kal-bi is always good, not too sweet, but of course nothing beats that other cut that I call King Kal-bi. And their banchan is delicious! I've had bbq from other Korean places, and they are so generous here. If you get sweet potato, they'll give you 4-5 pieces. I used to go to King's BBQ in the Waimalu Shopping Center (called Ohana BBQ now), gave ONE potato, but I don't know if things have changed. The Yummy's in Pearlridge was soaked too long, almost completely brown, with an overwhelming shoyu taste. Their long rice is the best I've had so far. Lots of meat and mixed vegetables, and not too saucy. There's a reason they always run out, so get it earlier in the day, because later at night you get somen (good, but not the same). BBQ King's one was oily. Again, Yummy's in Pearlridge had too much shoyu taste, and there was no beef, and hardly any vegetables! I love it how these Korean places are named after synonyms for delicious. But for a good, very reasonably priced value meal, skip the McDonald's nearby, and head here. You'll get more than twice as much food for just a few bucks more than those burger and fries combos.

First off, the kalbi was very dry and it had no taste. It seems like they just took the meat from the freezer and threw it on the grill. The chicken tasted the same thing, except it was badly burned. The only thing tasted good was the kimchee, everything else was horrible. To top everything, the tables were dirty and sticky. In a nutshell, the restaurant needs major cleaning. In addition, step up the food quality.

We were still tired from flying, etc so we picked up dinner to go from Tasty last night. With any of the regular size meat plates, you get the meat, 2 scoops of rice, and a choice of four sides from the selection in the hot case out front. So much food! I regret being greedy and ordering a regular when the mini would have been plenty! I ordered the Meat Jun plate (sliced beef dipped in egg and fried) and chose mac salad, potato salad, fried zucchini, and this funny "veggie tempura" that was more like slices of chewy dough with veggies tossed in. Yes, I know I am a greedy carb-whore. But I learned my lesson. The meat was just piled in, but it was really good. The mac salad and potato salad were just eh, mostly because they were so creamy and heavy. The veggie tempura was ok. The fried zucchini was very good though. I thought the price was great for all that food- about $8. I barely made a dent in it last night so it really could last a couple meals for someone like me. If you like meat jun, check it out!

Food was good, went there with 4 other people and we all enjoyed our food. I would go back. Yes, the place is old but dont mistake old for dirty, I am every picky about my food and this place was an average mom and pop shop.

Always coming back for more. Tried other Korean BBQ places, but can't seem to shake this off. Ono!

Portions are big at this place and plates run about $11 (main + 4 veggies), but they also have minis (main + 2 veggies). They have the usual Korean fare and sides. There's a secret entree that only those in the know ask for: spicy pork jun, but on occasion my friend was told that it wasn't available. The sides are a bit salty, but not as salty as some other restaurants. It's an easy go-to place if you're craving Korean food in Waipahu.

Ordered "Seaweed Soup" to go. While having soup at the office, said to myself, "they put lots of black pepper in soup". After finishing about half of the portion I had in the bowl, I put my reading glasses on to look at computer screen, looked at the soup and said to myself, "that's not black pepper". Checked with magnifying glass and it turned out to be lots of "Black Ants" in the soup. Naturally, I grossed out. Called Tasty BBQ. They said bring it back and would give me another. Took my name and number down. No Call back. After work took the balance of soup back so they could see. Girl behind counter took the soup back into the kitchen and came back out and asked if I wanted another soup. I just asked for a refund which she gave me. She was not very polite. Would think that the cook or owner would at least come out and "apologize" for the "ants in the soup" and the inconvience it put me thru. Its a shame, no class on their part. Seems they did not care. Their food is very tasty, although, the prices have gone up. Used to probablay visit once or twice a week, for years. Now will have to step back and think about ordering takeout again from Tasty BBQ. They did have the Board of Health's Green "Passed Inspection" sign on the door. So...Why ants in the food.

If you're looking for local style fast food Korean, this is the place! I love these Korean bbq places. It should be noted that this is a Hawaii thing though... when I went to the mainland and South Korea, this type of restaurant would be considered Korean fast food with a Hawaiian local flare. Of all the Korean bbq places that I have tried in Hawaii over my 30 years of living, this is probably my favorite place to go. I got the kalbi and meat jun plate and it was awesome. The portions of meat were very filling... I even had leftovers! There was a lot of flavor in the meat jun, which is hard to find. Most places I've tried taste like egg thrown over meat.... which is essentially what it is, but this place must marinate their meat in something and use a slightly thicker cut of steak to keep that flavor in. The sides were amazing too and they were very generous. I always try to get the same meat with the same sides so that I can accurately compare places. I would say this place has the best cucumber kim chee of these korean bbq places that I have tried. The staff seemed friendly and helpful, explaining to my husband what each side was. The price was great for the value received. Will definitely be returning!

The name suits the place I love the meat jun here. Better than any other korean take out I've had. On top of that the lady who was helping us was AMAZING. There was a line half way out the door and a pair of AROGANT ass customers that were giving her a really hard time but she still held her composure. Its not easy keeping your reserve, listening to bitching, answering phones and serving customers at the same time.

The thing that makes this place far superior to me than all other korean restaurants is in the choice of SIDE vegetables, especially the the ZUCCHINI JUN. It's the thing that keeps me coming back I love it so much and no other korean restaurant I found serves it as a side dish you would have to pay another $9 just to get some. I mean come on!!!' Zucchini same price as meat jun in other korean establishments that is just cray cray!!! My favorite plate is the kalbi meat jun combo with ALL VEGETABLES. Yahhh baby giving you a choice of 5 YES F I V E side dishes NO NEED THE RICE haha. They also have this sauce in the front where you push a button and it comes out almost like sweet Au Jus I love that too!!!! And to the person that said the vegetables are salty! Whaaat!?!? At most times I am pissed at other korean restaurants because they don't flavor their vegetables enough. From all the times I've eaten there the place is acceptably clean and I have eaten here A LOT so until they do not meet my expectations I still will be a loyal customer.

If you haven't eaten this type of food before, think local-style food with Korean sides typical of Korean take out, but there is some seating if you choose to eat there. Opted for the Chicken Katsu. No complaints about the breading but a few pieces had bones left in which is unusual for chicken katsu, making it a slight challenge to eat. Tofu was fresh but the rest of the sides weren't necessarily as. Nothing to freak out about though. It's difficult to get excited about take out, or maybe it is just really hard to do amazing take out. 3 stars though because I have long since been jaded about take-out chicken katsu and this place proved that you can still get a decent version of this dish on this island. The menu is big enough that I'm sure there's other options that'll be even better.

I've been coming here for almost 20 years, and this place always provides good quality comfort food. Their meats are always well marinated and full of flavor, but one item I always look forward to ordering is their vegetable tempura. definitely a must try.

This place is tucked away and I only found it because of Yelp. We decided to try it out. First impression - the facilities are old, run down and dirty. It made me question the food safety and quality of the food. Despite this, we still ordered and enjoyed the meal with no ill side effects. However, I cannot get over the the first impression. Will I visit again?... probably not unless I'm in the area.

This is basically Yummy Korean BBQ since they both taste exactly alike. However, since I love Yummy's, I love this place! I did the full pig-out session here. I ordered the bbq mix plate which has chicken, kalbi, and beef, with one scoop mac salad, one scoop kimchee, one scoop potato salad, chapchae, and some mandu. I'm pretty sure my plate weighed 5lbs. Everything was super ono and I finished over 50% of my food. Talk about kanak attack! I could've taken a nap right at the table.

  • Mary D.

Super ono food. I love the kalbi and meat jun. The food never fails me. You pay a pretty penny for the tasty food here and for some reason, they always seem to get slammed 5 minutes before closing. The meat jun is perfectly marinated and cooked just right. The dipping sauces compliment the meat well. The kalbi is tender and full of flavor. I've been coming here for years and the food still tastes just as good as I remember growing up. The side dishes are also yummy also. Just be prepared to pay about $8-$10 a plate.

  • Tevita A.

I used to love the taste of Tasty's BBQ but not the flavors are very bland for expensive prices. I think it's because they cook everything on the same grill, so the same flavor is picked up by all the dishes. The Kim Chee used to be really great but now it;s just saugy. The Potato Salad has way too much mayo so it's basically you're eating Potato with Mayo on it. The BBQ Chicken was good before but now it just taste like oil and grease. Nothing there I care for anymore. Used to be good. What happened tasty's.

  • Mac J.

Do not go to this place. I ordered their BBQ plate and found some fly eggs on the meat. The lady did not acknowledge my complaint and said they weren't fly eggs. I know fly eggs when I see them. I did not eat their BBQ plate. I lost my appetite. Customer service needs work. This place deserves no stars in the rating but Yelp will not let me post it.

Everytime I crave Korean, I always come to Tasty's. They give a pretty good amount of food. (depends whos making it) I love their choices of vegetables. I absolutely love their sweet daikon and taegu! Their food is tasty, guess thats why the stores called Tastys. LOL I usually get a meat jun/chicken combo and i can eat that in 3 sittings. So you know the portions are huge! I love their bbq chicken. So much flavor and its very tender. Easy to chew! Unlike the rubbery kind. I recommend you call in your order. They usually get busy around 4-6pmish. If you do order in theres probably about a ten minute wait time for your food. Which isnt so bad.

126/365 More like 3.5. Came here a while ago because I was craving for some korean food. Their meat jun is pretty good, not the best but still good. Their bbq chicken is also good, but again, not the best. I def want to give their other items a try, like their bi bim kook soo and bi bim bap. Their side dishes are also good, however they are a bit skimpy on the portions. Overall, definitely satisfies your craving for some korean food ;).

I was drawn to this place because of the name, and they definitely live by it! Their food is good! It's basically just like any other local Korean Restaurant. I prefer Yummy's over this place but if you live in the area and don't want to go too far, Tasty is the place to go! The price is about the same as any other Korean local spot as well. The sides are the same as Yummy's, but the portions are not as much (IMO). The last time I went here, they overcooked my kalbi so it was hard. I never eat inside of this establishment either just because they seem to have a lot of flies inside. It's not as clean as some other places.

  • C C.

Really enjoyed the BBQ beef and BBQ chicken combo. It was really good. Had a good amount of flavor. I really liked the spicy pickled radish and kimchi. Wasn't a fan of the cucumber kimchi too much. I like mine crunchy and it was just too soft. My 20 month old son loved the chicken. Big portions for a good price. Would def. come back

Used to eat here a lot until a few years ago when I discovered a massive, bambucha cockroach in my plate. UGH! I don't know how they could've missed it. I was in the middle of eating my BBQ chicken plate then I lifted the chicken to cut it and gross..under the chicken was a dead, big ass roach. You know the flying kind. Don't tell me they didn't see it! OMG never again. BTW does this place have a GREEN PASS?

Always come here when were In a rush and just need some veggies. When we do order plate lunch the portions are great and you can pick out 3 different sides. My absolute favorite here is the macaroni salad, it's a must!

  • Jade N.

Ate lunch there and ordered the Kalbi plate regular. No mini-ing. This place seems to be getting a little runned down. (I'm not even sure if that is a word). Meaning the place was not all that clean. I mean it's bearable to sit in though so please don't get me wrong. Staff. They were nice and friendly. Food was given to us at a reasonable time. Food was good.

NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN! I contacted the restaurant to put in a phone order for our business for a lunch run. Mind you, our total was over $110. I called and spoke to the girl and slowly read her the orders and advised there are 11 plates. She sounded confident and took the order but did not read it back at the end. I didn't ask because she sounded confident and I took my time. We ran to pick up the orders and came back to the office just to find out they didn't include a plate. Called them and the girl said she never wrote it down and to have me come back and pay then pick it up. Why would we make another trip then pay for it if you messed up? That's two trips?!!!! I said to hand the phone to someone who knows what they're doing and who can authorize the order. Spoke to the owner and he said he trusts his coworkers. So pretty much saying the customer is wrong. No matter the slogan we were RIGHT! We spent over $110 for your business and you treat us like liars?!! The reason why we're calling is not to get a free plate but to inform the business owner of the mistake and to fix it, where is the INTEGRITY in your business? I then informed the owner "You know what, it's fine, our company will never order from you or your business and would rather eat Kapolei Korean, your competitors." Honestly, the food is better at Tastys but we're about customer loyalty and respect and we rather go somewhere else where the service is remarkable and customer appreciated! In conclusion, thank you Owner of Tastys Kapolei for losing great high paying loyal customers, your business will not run off of your food yet off of satisfaction!

ZERO STARS!!! Parents went to pick up 3 plates from them and when we got back home to Ewa Beach, one of the plates only had the vegetables and was missing the main dish!!!!

Tastys are awesome....all dere food is..tasty, hahah....I would reccomend dere kalbi and bbq chicken, my fav, and its cooked perfectly. One order that i got that i didnt like aas the meat jun, the egg coating kept coming off and the egg wasnt bright, it was like old and dark, so i wouldnt get that again. Besides that, its one yummy restaurant

I love tastys :) spicy pork is winnahs. They give good portions of the sides, and I really like that. Dude, pile on the kim chee and bean sprouts. Their kalbi is good too...but I always go for the spicy pork. It's not that spicy, but it definitely has flavor. oooh, i suggest getting their meat jun, as well. I just wish they gave more sauce for their meat jun. i hate it when i have more meat jun than sauce. it makes me sad.

Had take out from here last night. Here is what we ordered - Korean Miso Soup...had this last time but this time my daughter orderd it. Healthy portion with lots of squash and pork. Steaming hot the way I like it. Ordered Extra Spicy but was still alittle mild for me. Side dishes included Bean Sprouts, Potato Salad, Shoyu Potato, and KimChee. - Kim Chee Soup (Extra Spicy)..Piping hot the way I like it. Lots of goodies and so much that I could only eat half. Will be doing the other half later this week. Side dishes included, Pancake, Bean Sprouts, Jap Chae, and Shoyu Potato. All were tasty. - Meat Jun/Spicy Pork Combo... ample amount of food on this one. My wife had enough to make her lunch for the next day. Nice touch with free Mandoo and all the side dishes. This our favorite Korean take out joint.
