Don't even know where to start! Workers can't even speak English! Had to wait over 30 min for chicken strips. Do NOT recommend this stupid Popeyes.

The food is decent, but the customer service is extremely lacking. This afternoon, we picked up the 5 piece special from the drive-thru. The 5 piece special consists of 5 pieces of chicken, 2 small sides, and 2 biscuits. In spite of the obvious fact that the food is served at warm temperatures, the employees tossed 5 pats of butter onto the WARM packaged food. The butter is not encased in anything, each pat of butter rests on a waxed cardboard square and is covered by a piece of wax paper. The sides of each pat are exposed. This means that as each pat of butter melts, the melted butter drips onto EVERYTHING in the bag!! When I called the manager, Gina, to explain what happened, she seemed disinterested. After a long pause, Gina asked if the butter was placed in a french fry bag. When I explained that the butter was not placed in a french fry bag, Gina apologized; and then there was another...long...pause. I explained to Gina that the protocol of placing butter in a french fry bag is not a good practice because the butter will still be exposed to the warm temperature of the food thereby causing it to melt, and the melted butter will then seep through the french fry bag and cause a mess. I suggested to place the butter into the styrofoam container that the small sides are placed in, that way, the butter is in an insulated container that can keep the butter cold. I also mentioned that if the butter still ends up melting, the styrofoam container will prevent a buttery mess. Gina said nothing and simply apologized, and then added that she would "talk" to the drive-thru employees. Disappointing.

Love this Popeyes, The chicken always comes out fresh and crispy. Sometimes the skin to meat ratio is more for skin / batter than actual meat but thats okay I just throw away the skin / batter and just eat the meat. I personally like their chicken of KFC anyways. KFC is way to salty most of the time. I like spicy chicken and the spicy chicken here is a little bit more heat but its what i love about the spicy chicken. The specials that are on the glass window is very good deals, check them out before ordering. Ill be coming back here for sure.

This is mom's goto for fried chicken. The 2pc plate of fried chicken with one side for $7.99. Gabriel B. and I took the 4pc meal with one side, cole slaw, for $9.99 and ordered 2 extra sides, mashed potatoes with gravy and corn on the cob, for $1.98 each. The parking is a little confusing here but I got a spot infront of the store. We were greeted by everyone in the store no matter where they were standing. Kinda different but it was said so half heartedly. Better to just do a regular greet instead of a mass greet if it's going to be like that. Our order was completed quickly. We sat to enjoy our meal on the more quieter side where not too many people like to sit, the right side of the store. The food is good. A thigh and drumstick was served for the 2pc meal. My mom chose biscuit and asked for rice that the gave complimentary I believe. The 4pc meal included a drumstick, a thigh, a wing and a breast. Half a chicken. The coleslaw and mash potato portions were small imho. When I think about it, I could've gotten a whole cooked chicken from Safeway or Foodland for a little less. It would've cost less too. We would've been full on that and have a few pieces left over. Store is very clean with nice Tex Mex deco of oranges, browns and yellows. In almost every area you look is a sign letting you know you can get 25% off your entire order if you text "chicken" to 44777 to get the qualifying code. One code per phone. Not a bad deal especially if you put in a big order. Really good to do for a potluck or a big gathering of some sort. So, the point docked here is for the halfhearted greeting, the confusing parking and, their prices being over value. When I think about it, it does seem like the fastfood chains are pricing themselves out of market. It use to be cheap to feed a family of four. Now the cost is up there with regular upper scale restaurant. How much longer can they survive I wonder?

Location: They are located in a shopping center in Waipahu where there is Longs and Seafood City. It's located next to Taco Bell. Parking is minimal next to the restaurant. Drive Thru: There is a drive thru at this location. Food: My mom likes to order the giblet and liver. It's not on the menu but they do have it just ask. The giblet and liver is cook to order. We normally buy the 20 piece special and its hit at parties especially with children. The adults love the giblet and liver. Price: Prices are reasonable. We paid $40 for a 20 piece chicken bucket, an order of liver and an order of giblet. Overall, the chicken is crispy and the wait time is short. If your lazy to cook, check this place out.

While having lunch here for the first time, coming in from a Muggy Weather State, the AC was broken and I've noticed several fans blowing hot air, the staff is very friendly and professional, the Sweet Ice Tea was amazing, the Shrimp Popcorn was ok, very small size, something for small kids. These eateries needs to ensure a comfortable experience for their customers and with the AC broken, that's a major part of the experience.

I love their chicken but some people need to understand the drive through should not block the parking lot. It took me having to force my way out. Also the drive to through line was longer than the line inside sometimes getting out of Ur car is quicker than staying in.

I love Popeyes and it always beats KFC or any other fried chicken place hands down. It is a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. The batter is always crispy and tasty and the chicken is always moist and not overly dry. And I love that there is a spicy option. The sides are always good and have more taste than their competitors. The mashed potatoes with the Cajun gravy, Cajun rice, and coleslaw all compliment the chicken. They also offer other items like their shrimp and chicken sandwiches. Get the sweet tea for a drink instead of your regular soda. The drive thru is always fast. I just recently ordered a big box of chicken for a party at the drive thru and was told to park in the front, but it only took 3-5 minutes for the box of chicken to come out.

The workers need to work on their communication skills, especially through the drive-thru. LOL But I was pleasantly surprised with the food, I love their chicken! Their biscuits are hitters too. lol It was fast service for my food as well.

Had a BOGO coupon for a two-piece meal, so one day my bf and I decided to come here for lunch and use it. The bf wanted to try the chicken biscuit, so we ordered that as well. Once we got our order, we were eager to try the chicken biscuit only to find a regular biscuit instead. I looked at my receipt and saw she charged for the regular biscuit. I could've sworn I told the cashier chicken biscuit. Upon ordering, I said chicken biscuit and she repeated "biscuit?" I said yes and she inputted my order. I thought, man maybe I should've said "chicken biscuit" again. I also got charged drink for the 2-piece meal. I'm totally aware that the drink would be a separate charge, although it would have been nice to ask if I wanted a drink with my free meal. Tried the sweetened iced tea, only for it to be watered down. I ended up getting water instead. This place does not have AC. Came here on a hot and sunny day, expecting it to be cool but noticed it still felt hot inside. Also, there's no public restroom but there is a restroom for patrons only.

Great customer service everytime. Meal is always nice warm and steamy. You can find good deals/coupons for an even cheaper place. Dont' really have any complaints. I prefer popeyes over KFC any day and this popeyes is great! One of my go-tos when I get lazy.

Stopped in for a quick bite. Ordered the "2 can dine": 3 spicy and 2 mild, red beans n rice & onion rings. Sweet tea was smooth-yum-went 1/2 sweet 1/2 unsweetened. Food was ready in less than 3 minutes. Came with 4 pieces of onion rings-just OK, small container of rice-good with a little bit of a kick, 2 biscuits-smaller than KFC & same texture, 5 pieces of chicken-2 drumsticks and 3 thighs- great crunch on the skin, tender meat! Was cheerfully greeted upon arriving. Place was clean, had a worker wipe the tables, sweep the floors, and take food trays in a timely manner. Visited around 130pm on a Monday.

Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen had a $54.99 turkey only deal for Thanksgiving. This is Cajun style fried turkey - yes I said fried! We looked around and basically a turkey only deal was going for the same price so we had to chance it. You order thru corporate and pick it up and pay at your nearest Popeye's. It is pre-roasted, fried, then delivered to the location thawed. Just take it home and reheat. The turkey was a decent size - 12 lb! It was super moist, super ono, and super convenient. We'll do it again when it's available. We highly recommend it. So why only 4 stars? There's no option for stuffing and mashed potatoes and biscuits need to be purchased ala carte at the restaurant. No pies either.

FIRST and LAST time at this location. I was with my friend and she wanted to buy some chicken, she suggested that we go through the drive thru because it is faster. We proceed through the drive thru and she places her order for MIXED pieces and spicy. The girl on the other side taking our order was giving us attitude and said that we have to wait 5 minutes because we wanted spicy. After my friend paid she said drive to the front. We waited longer than 5 minutes. When she gave us our box of chicken she goes back inside then walks back out and says "Oh, I'm sorry I gave you thighs and breast you wanted mixed right?" my friend says its okay. We were so annoyed by the rude worker we just wanted to get the hell out of there.

Kinda disappointed:( I love popeye's....shoot i use to work in the one in schofield barracks on base. This location is at waipahu, the one that i went to. i order a 3 pc. chicken strips with fries, customer service is great but the food wasn't, maybe cause i went after the lunch rush and before dinner so the food wasnt really "hot". Also when i was eating the chicken i thought i was a nugget.......but when i bit into it...it was "crunching"......it was a pc. of a broken chicken... :( i was mad as hell. I also asked for ketchup and honey and it was stuck together... ALL OF IT! what the hell, you couldve as least clean it or wipe it down. Over all i never encounter any problems in the past, ill continue to go to this location because that the closes popeye's where i live (kunia)

Since my BF works in Waipahu... I was in the neighborhood to drop off some tools to him and then run some errands. It was getting close to dinner time, and since I was off of work... I thought it'd be nice to buy dinner for my parents and give my Mommy a break from cookin. My parents really like Popeyes... so since there was a location across the street, I decided to buy dinner here. I love the fact that they have a drive-thru, but since I usually don't eat here I'm not too familiar with the menu so I opted to park and order inside. The parking spaces are tight here but luckily at the time there weren't too many other cars around. Taco Bell is next door so the lot can get busy. The restaurant is clean and smells soooo good! The staff is so patient and friendly! I ended up ordering Daddy and Mommy a 2 piece meal (each) with mashed potatoes and cajun gravy, biscuit, and a drink. Daddy likes his chicken mild and Mom likes her spicy. The food was ready to go in less than 10 minutes and you could tell it was still HOT and fresh... and gosh it smelled so good! The total for everything was around $15. They do have coupons that come out in the Midweek... so grab those and you can save some money! I'll be back to try their wings... mmmm fried chicken wings...

It always sounds better than the experience actually delivers. I like chicken, and so does my daughter. Today we were headed to the AYSO Rainbow Tournament at Waipio Soccer Complex and our first choice for chicken, Tanioka's, was sold out. So we scampered down the street to the Waipahu Popeyes and ordered a 4-piece meal to share. The buiscuit and the chicken were hot, but a little more greasy than we remembered. We had a large drink and a side cole slaw, all for about $10 total, but still left a little unhappy with the quality of the meal. That, and the fact that everyone behind the counter yelled, 'Welcome to Popeyes' in some pre-determined cadence, made us feel a little weird. It didn't feel genuine. At any rate, the price is about right, but the chicken at Tanioka's is about 10-times better! I would have tried Jolly Bee's, but I didn't know where in Waipahu they were located. Darn.

I frequent this location because it's closest to home. I ONLY eat here when I have a coupon and the midweeks coupons are huge deals. I always leave them in my car and some in my wallet for the last minute bites. I prefer Popeyes over KFC just because the flavor is much better. I love the crispy skin and their mash is way better. I've never had an issue with this location. The food is always hot and the biscuits are always fresh. One comment I must make is, the other night we went through the drive through and they appeared over staffed. There were so many people in there and it was obviously not that busy because there were a few (3-4) of them horsing around and inflated a glove and made it flip the bird. ALL by the window. My husband even made a comment about how "professional" that was. There was a woman with a pink polo shirt who I'm guessing was the lead or maybe even manager. She did nothing. I know, its a fast food joint, who cares, right? I do. My kids were in the back seat and could see everything. Play around on your own time, and IN THE BACK please. Not in plain view of the customers. And for the frequent chicken eaters, SAVE your receipt and do the survey. I got a great deal with the coupon code and saved even more money!

I love this location of Popeyes! They have never gotten my order wrong and the food always comes out fresh. I love the crispy skin of the chicken and the biscuits are sooo delicious! I always look forward to my next visit. Sadly, I am always so excited for the food that I overlook the service lol.

Used a $10 for $20 deal here this past weekend, and their chicken is pretty good, along with some other side items. They are trying to portray this place as a Louisiana themed food place, so some of the items are spicey, but not too much. Their gravy mash potato side had some spice to it; which was good; their butterfly shrimp was good with the cocktail sauce, along with their chicken, which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The service was great; even the manager had us sample the shrimp when I just asked her how good it was. Overall a good place for fried chicken; I would go back again! :)

Reasonable prices with the coupons that come out each month in Midweek but kinda pricey otherwise. The bone-in chicken is pretty good, kind of like Church's but with better flavor. The strips, on the other hand, don't have much taste. The curry is a little spicy, which I like, but seems a little watery to me. The fries are only OK but the gravy for the mashed potatoes is really good. Has a nice kick to it. Would seriously get some gravy to take home and keep in the fridge for when I get a Costco chicken but they don't sell side orders of just gravy.

Go to Popeyes for a hearty meal, it is very much worth it. But beware of their drink machine. When I went, swarms of flies were flying out from the slot under the ice. It also smelled like something died out there. Upon further inspection there was also a thick layer of scum in the little tray where the ice falls to the bottom. I warned the staff about it, but they looked puzzled. Let'a hope a health inspector comes in to inform them about the threat to public safety.

Wow Popeyes... I haven't seen it get this bad in a while. Normally, my family and I choose Popeyes over KFC because we like the flavor of the Popeyes chicken better. However, it's not the food that was all bad, it was also the service... FOOD: Don't stray away from the regular fried chicken! My family and I got half Spicy, half Mild. The pieces were huge, and the skin was nice and crispy. Definitely liked the Spicy flavored ones the best - had a kick, but not too much. 11 pieces of chicken for $13.99 is not bad... The one complaint I had about the food, of course is not about the chicken, but about the SHRIMP. I've seen the ads for the Butterfly Shrimp, and the Shrimp are huge... However, looks are deceiving. We got the Butterfly Shrimp combo which came with a drink, biscuit, 1 side, and 8 pieces of Butterfly Shrimp. However, we were poorly mistaken when they gave us 8 super small pieces of Shrimp (practically popcorn shrimp size), a kids size fries, a biscuit and a drink. When my mom described it, she said "A toddler could eat this..." She was right. That was a total rip off for $8.99 + tax. For my drink, I got iced tea. There are two types: Sweet and Unsweetened. I tried the Sweet which was TOO SWEET. So, I mixed both Sweet and Unsweetened so it would even out. Shoot, I should've just got a Coke instead... SERVICE: the Filipino girl at the register was very grumpy and not accommodating. She didn't ask what kind of flavor sauce I wanted (I figured it was by request only) so I kindly asked her "Does this come with sauce?" She tersely says "Yeah." I gave her a blank stare until she asked me about what kind of sauce I wanted. I asked for BBQ. When we finally got our order, my mom opened the bag to check it. She only saw one packet of BBQ sauce, so she asked for more. The lady at the pick-up area gave us 1 extra packet... Yup, that's right. 2 small packets of BBQ sauce for 11 pieces of chicken... We just shook our heads and left the restaurant. OVERALL: I'm soooo dissapointed. Fried chicken is this location's saving grace. I'm not sure if the unexpectedly tiny shrimp was because of the location or because of the brand, but I'm super disappointed because of what we got for our money... The service needs work too... Good thing this place is close to our house. We are definitely not going back to this Popeyes for a long long time... and if we do, it will only be for the chicken and biscuits.

I guess it's not uncommon for one to love eating deep fried food right out the vat, doing that *hot HOT!* mouth motion while fanning it, huh? Popeye's, like a lot of food, usually tastes better when its settled and cooled down just a bit. But who the hell can wait when it's right there, smoking and smiling right up at you, RIGHT? Chicken skin crunch? Sounds like (though thank gawd it don't taste like) Grape Nuts breaking in your mouth. Biscuit? Just like most places but I have always come here for the red beans and rice + apple pie. Beans are in re-fried form and has a nice, mild smokey flavor to it. The apple pie here is superb and a lot of the time, is already sold out. Just imagine the fried apple pie from McDonalds, cept covered in cinnamon (already dusted) and with a thicker, crunchier shell crust. Similar to the one at Rainbow's Drive In, cept better. As for the chicken itself, there's a nice spice in there. But you don't really get to taste it unless its been sitting a while. At least from my past experiences. I usually go mild instead of the spicy, for flavor sake. A 4-piece meal will run you about $7.99 with drink, side and bizznit. Though don't forget to ask for jelly. An extra side order (I got an extra beans and rice) $1.99. Their awesome-possum apple pie is $1 and gawd funnit, I ate IT ALL! Talk about slowly making my way to those blasphemous, yet crunchy battered gates of grease in the sky. 4 stars Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits in Waiii-paw-huu

Took advantage of a coupon special. Got the 8 Piece (Spicy) with 2 Mashed Potatoes for $11.99. Regular price is $20.99. Cannot go wrong. Chicken was moist and tasty. Loved the Cajun Gravy on the Mashed potatoes. My wife ordered a container of Cole slaw and she said it was very good.

Dayam!!! I didn't realize Popeyes Chicken tastes soooo good...better than KFC!! We had the mild chicken...cuz my daughter wouldn't like the spicey stuff...but I want to try it soon. Im sure to visit again......CHEEEEEE HOOOOOOO!!!!

I didn't want to waste my 2010 Entertainment book and there were these coupons for Popeye's. They didn't have any naked, grilled, or baked chicken. It was all fried. I figured that with the pot of brown rice that I had at home, along with a cup of hot green tea, it should balance out the fried chicken. Their chicken doesn't come in a bucket. It comes in a big cake box, with a lid.

My grandma used to LOVE the drumsticks from this place. But I could never appreciate tastes as I rarely ate as a child. Now that I am an adult I can put it down like an animal. Although a mainland chain, this is one of the places I like to eat fried chicken from. I normally don't buy lunch out but I had to meet someone here to sign something and boom! The smell! Oh goodness! I could not resist. I ordered a number 2 with two pieces of heaven oops I mean crispy fried chicken (ordered it spicy) and mashed potatoes. I ordered it to bring home so I could annihilate it. I slowly peeled each piece of chicken skin and took tiny bites of it. So crispy and yes I know so unhealthy with oily goodness. Anyway, sadly I ate it so fast I felt sick but for a good solid 10 minutes of eating I felt amazing! Now off to work out to sweat out all that oil and fat!

  • Alex G.

Ho popeyes is mean!! This place pwns kfc and church's chicken. The chicken is so crunchy and the Cajun fries are bomb, even though it's anything but Cajun. If you're nice to the cashier, they even give you a couple pieces extra on the #7 meal. After eating here i feel like I'm going to have a heart attack....but no matter cuz we asians need our fix of fried chicken. #swag.
