So in my personal opinion when you are hungover you either crave two options. Option A is something light, not to filling, and usually in some sort of liquid form this includes but not limited to Pho, Ramen, and or something healthy. The other option is to go the direct opposite and just eat the most greasiest, fattiest, artery clogging, and starch- laden meal. Another variable into this whole formula is also if you had the chance to stuff your face in your drunken state or did you just pass out but that's a whole another story. The way I see it, your body is dehydrated and looking for calories to form energy to sustain so why not choose the latter. And one of my go to places (considering I live in the boonies) is Loco Moco. I almost always either get the lemon chicken, garlic chicken, mochiko chicken, or salt and pepper pork chop or combination of the 4 aforementioned choices( yes for an extra charge you can combo your meal). Yes all options are fried cause well fried foods are just good. Mac salad is a must and then you know you can opt for brown rice to make it somewhat healthy. There Loco Moco is pretty good as well. Another thing I like to do is call in my order so its a quick stop and I'm just picking up my food and heading back home to feast and then take a nap. Portions are very generous and prices are very similar to any other plate lunch place. Maybe it's convenience cause they are the nearest plate lunch place to where I live , maybe its cause I want fried food, but Loco Moco is always there for my pick me up when I need it.

what: a tiny, local style, plate lunch spot! something good: so after moving from town to waipahu, my family and i could not find a quick place that we loved for food. loco moco was the first place we found with friendly, polite staff that take care of their customers well! the food is delicious, i'm not kidding, that even the egg on the loco moco was made perfectly! something not so good: i don't really care for the interior, but hey, we always call in our orders and take-out anyway... so i'm not complaining :) something to try: loco moco and french fries.

I had the mini house special garlic chicken and i'd say it was pretty ok. The chicken itself was somewhat good, better than ok at least. they also give you the sauce on the side which was ok, tasted kinda like the katsu sauce but not as thick. overall i'd prob order it again since its near my neighborhood and when im hungry. =p

The food here's good most of the time. May want to think twice about going when they're really busy, though. The consistency of the food send to falter when they're busy. The BBQ chicken is usually really good, but tonight, and a couple other times when we've gone during a rush, it's over-cooked and the edges are really hard.

We love the loco moco from here but I'm starting to think its NOT worth the drive something is always wrong with my order and we just let it go...until today. Got myself an empty plate instead of the loco moco I ordered. That meant one of the five people I was feeding wasn't gonna have lunch what makes it worse...I asked the cashier to make sure we had everything cause something is always missing and she said she checked! Sooooo upset!!!

3rd times the charm, so they say(who ever they are?) NOT!!! My friend ordered a mahi plate and wanted with fries no salad 1 scoop rice instead of mac salad. Holy crap...its pretty much an easy thing to understand, nope she didn't get it. Reorder mahi plat w/fries side (1) scoop riice. OMFJ My order garlic shrimp chicken wing oh you can't mix thr order like that, WHY? Cause no can, whatever...chicken katsu then w/fries (1) scoop salad. Easy enough. The bottom of my plate all mac salad :( grrrrrrr. Yup there goes the 3rd time. I AM SO SOO SOOO DONE WITH THAT PLACE!!! I WILL NOT RECOMMAND any loco moco place. NOPE NO NO NO NO....

The loco moco is delicious && the BBQ chicken plate is above average a must try. Chicken katsu, below average . I have to say; this place is the better *not best* place to eat in kunia. Kunia needs an upgrade of food chains; the ones here suck.

We live close by and it's our go-to place for a fast ono meal. We usually order teri burger, loco moco, spicy eggplant, mahi mahi, and mixed plates (the stews are good too). Always pleasant customer service and never a mistake on our takeout orders that are fresh and hot when I pick them up.

Went to this place yesterday and ordered a BBQ chicken with fried noodles to go. I didn't bother to check the bag on the way out...big mistake. HOW DO YOU FORGET THE BBQ CHICKEN? Either they don't listen or don't care...both of which make for horrible business. Note: This was at the Waipio location.

Their BBQ cheeseburger and seasoned fries are the bomb! Thats pretty much all I order. But I have tried the furikake mahi mahi and it tastes pretty good too. This is the only Loco Moco I go to, and I'm not a fan of plate lunch spots either, like L&L (bleh). This place has better selections than anywhere else I've been to. Oh and they bring you your food when you're seated. Plus.

I ordered a mini roast pork with brown gravy -mushroom (their special). Each time I order this at any restaurant, I am never disappointed. But for some reason, I was disappointed at this location. The portion was great though! Only problem was that, they served me MAINLY fat pieces. I did not bother to finish my plate. But the seafood platter there is also awesome! So that made up for it.

This place is awesome. They give big portions for the price you pay. It's not the best quality but it's still good. If you're quick to go somewhere and need a good meal, these guys are good.

All right, when I think MOCHIKO CHICKEN, this is my go to place. I like chicken in general and it's really hard to go wrong. It's chicken after all. And with great chicken comes great responsibility. In this case, I love the mochiko chicken at Loco Moco Drive Inn, namely the one in Kunia. Actually writing this review is making me crave it right now. For lunch. Never mind that noise. That's just my stomach rumbling from thinking about the chicken. There's just something about the chicken here. The right amount of moisture is absorbed by the batter and the juices just burst in your mouth when you take a bite. And the batter is deliciously crunchy and chewy at the same time. The flavors and seasonings are the right combination of salty, with a hint of sweet. And the tender juicyness of the chicken meat just feels and tastes amazeballs. And going beyond the mochiko chicken is another tasty treat that I always order here. CRISPY CRAB CREAM PUFFS. It's a won ton, filled with cream cheese, mixed with crab meat. I'm actually a picky eater and normally wouldn't eat something like that. But somehow, it made it's way into my belly and I've been hooked ever since. I would recommend waiting a few minutes before biting into this goody, though. The won ton shell may be warm, but the filling will still be rather hot. But it's worth the wait. Imagine creamy crabby goodness, wrapped in a tasty fried won ton shell. Local style grindage at it's best.

I love this place. Very friendly. Great delicious food. Big portions worth your money. Menus huge. Short wait. I just love coming here. Drive all the way from town for this place. You gotta come here and find out for yourself.

I'm giving Loco Moco 3 stars because sometimes their food is amazing and other times, not so much. They have an extensive menu with everything from burgers and fries to chicken alfredo to a roasted duck plate (which my boyfriend absolutely loves). Yesterday, I ordered the shrimp burger deluxe which was ~$3 and onion rings ~$3. The food came relatively fast. The shrimp burger was huge! It had three pieces of fried shrimp which is pretty generous (some places would've only given one piece). The thing is, I couldn't finish my burger because some parts of the battered shrimp tasted a bit under cooked. The shrimp was pink but the breading was a little soft/mushy. About two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I ate here because he was in the mood for a roasted duck plate. I felt like eating eggplant but their only option was a pork eggplant plate but I don't eat pork :( Luckily, they're pretty flexible with their menu. I was able to get just the eggplant marinated in a spicy garlic/shoyu type sauce. I LOVED this! and it was a pretty big plate for a reasonable price. Overall, this is a pretty good place to eat if you're short on time, looking for a cheap place to eat or just don't feel like cooking. If you do decide to order the shrimp burger, just ask for it to be cooked a little bit longer than the usual cooking time :)

My favorite location over Kapolei (which is closer to us) and Ewa Beach. The menus are the same but the flavor just seems to be at Waipahu/ Kunia Loco Moco. My favorite things to order are the garlic chicken, the garlic mahi (which isn't on the regular menu but is ALWAYS on the daily special menu, lol), and the crab rangoon. My niece ordered the loco moco and I wasn't sold. The hamburger patty had no flavor and the gravy was just blah and thick. I'll stick to my regular menu items.

If youre looking for a good plate lunch place, Kunia Loco Moco is an OK spot! They have what a lot of the diner places have, but this one seems different. It actually seems cleaner than other Loco Moco's or L&L's. I used to be a long time L&L fan but ive made a switch to Locos. Anyway, The plate lunches are always really large. Even if im not hungry, I tend to get the regular size plates because they are SO much bigger than the Mini Plates. You can always save the rest for your next meal. But one discovery that ive made lately is the Nachos Supreme. Its tortilla chips topped with chili, cheese, olives, sour cream, etc. Its a pretty big plate of nachos that people can share! But other than that, the Chicken Katsu Curry is always a good choice too! Or the Garlic Mahi thats on their "specials" board!

Service at every single Loco Moco Drive Inn location is the same...horrible. Everyone always seems to be miserable working there and don't seem to care about anything dealing with the restaurant. This particular location I tell people to stay away from. My reason is this: Walk in late (about 30 minutes before closing) and notice an employee sweeping that seemed angry I walked in. Order take-out. Sit and watch a couple come in and receive a hug and warm welcome from said employee. Okay whatever. Couple orders takeout and receives food first. Okay, perhaps my order takes longer to cook. Watch a cook take a very large order outside to his car. See the cook start cleaning up his station. Ask where is my order. The counter guy looks dumbfounded. I've been sitting at a table near the door for my order that they never even started cooking. Cook makes my food. Counter guy gives me a free small drink cup to make up for my time wasted watching him clean around me as if I was sitting there wait on god. Get order 15 minutes after closing, wasting about 45 minutes in this place. Never Again. Been to this specific location total of about 3 times over the span of 8 years and every time it got worst. This was the final time I wasted money on this place and its horrible service. Food is 2/5. Hope it goes out of business.

I came here at 12:30pm on a Monday. The parking lot was very crowded, so I ended up parking closer to Longs. Similar to the Ewa location, there is a minimum charge for credit cards. The minimum is only $6. I ordered one of the daily specials, a regular honey garlic chicken for $6.95. The plate didn't live up to my expectations. It looked almost like a regular piece of fried chicken speckled with a lot of pepper. The honey and garlic taste was very faint, which made me sad. I love the taste of honey and garlic. The portion was decent enough that I had enough leftover to satisfy me at work for dinner. If you're in Waipahu looking for a decent plate lunch, you can come here and get some Hawaiian Miles in return. Next time I'll be ordering something other than the honey garlic chicken.

Ordered the BBQ Mixed plate and surprised by the amount of food on the plate. Sauce was very savory and tasty. Two massive scoops of rice, One scoop Mac Salad, 2 pieces of BBQ Chicken, One large piece of Teriyaki Beef, and one BBQ shortrib. Good enough for lunch the following day. Will be returning again soon.

I love their ginger chicken, but then again it taste the same as if you were to go to L&L. Their food is consistent and they customer service is decent.

I am begining to see a tend that I just cannot understand. Chain fast food resteraunts with no restrooms that offer just okay food at reasonable prices. No seems to love it but a lot of people eat there anyway. As you look at the reviews for all the drive inns you will see what I mean. It weird bevcause no one seems to really lovethese places, yet they do good business and have locations everywhere. As for this particular place I will say that I wa sthere on a sunday evening because I was hungry, it was getting late and honestly I wanted to check out a "drive inn" to see what all the fuss was about. The menu is huge, which could be considered a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you are. They offer everything from breakfast sausages, pancakes and hashbrowns to katsu chicken, loco moco (of course), spare ribs, teri chicken, curry and shrimp. I had the mini garlic chicken which came with a scoop of rice and scoop of macoroni salad. I am not sure hwy it was called garlic chicken because there was no hint of garlic at all. It was more like fried chicken. The rice and pasta salad was grocery store quality. Don't get me wrong it was not gross, I DID eat almost all of it, but I would not go out of my way to go there again.

First of all, one star is too much to begin with. I was appalled by my experience here. I was looking for place to pick up quick lunch and we happend to be in the area, so we decided to give it a try since the other restaurant was korean and we had eaten korean food way too often. I ordered the garlic shrimp mini and wow, it was oily and the skin was left on. I don't mind eating the skin off the shrimp as long as it is crispy but this was far from that, just an oily garlic mess. I also give them a negative star on the fact that the place was a mess. I've heard of hole in the wall places that have excellent food, but here I had a hard time keeping my food down. And as soon as I found the table was crawling with ants, I couldn't even imagine that the kitchen was any cleaner, so that was the end of my meal. I couldn't wait to get out of there as soon as possible. So for all you yelpers out there looking for a decent place to eat, sink your teeth in elsewhere..seriously!

From what I've experienced, this is the worst location of the entire chain of Loco Moco Drive Inn restaurants in terms of food quality.

If you live local food, this is probably the best place in Kunia. I always order the loco moco, it's delicious!
