Yesterday, I was in disbelief they had my favorite pinapaitan na kalding. It was really good!!! It was so good that I ordered for take home .Exceptionally delicious!!! It brings back the good all days. Genuine taste, hats off to the chef !!! That is what I was longing for. I came back today , there was none. I hope they put this in their buffet selection everyday. Since their specialty is KAMBING, and that's what they name their restaurant for, Therefore, they should include this delicatessen on their menu. I've been a long time regular customer in this place and for the first time they had this pinapaitang kalding only yesterday. HEAVEN Goodness!!!

Small family owned restaurant. They serve variety of dishes that would accommodate everyone in your family. Give them a try, you would be happy you did. :)

If you want Filipino food in a hurry then this is it, hence the name express. My sister, causin and I ate here today since we were craving some Filipino food. We checked out Thelma's first but it was busy and we didn't feel like waiting a while. So we went next door to this place. One choice is $5 and they give you a decent amount of your choosing with 2 scoops of rice. It's not the best filipino food I've had but it wasn't bad and the staff there needs a lesson is sexual harassment.

My mother always likes coming here and I only come here only with I am with mother. I will do my review in two perspectives 1) from a non-Filipino/local/local-Filipino/Filipino-American and 2) from a Filipino-Filipino. Location It is located at the Westgate Waipahu Shopping plaza area. There is parking in front of the plaza area but it gets filled up very quickly especially during the day time. And it is especially busy during the lunch time hour because there are several other restaurants and food places around. As for 1), the experience can be interesting especially if you are unfamiliar with Filipino food. Basically, the restaurant is run like typical Filipino family style. There are a couple of options that you can pay for. One of them is a buffet for a certain price. They have ala carte options. And they also have dine in and take out options. Ordering food could pose a challenge due to cultural but maybe more so language implications. Because of those challenges, the experience and situation could result in a possible unfavorable staff service. However, the food in my option is on point and most of it is pretty legit family style and homestyle Filipino cooking. On one side you have the vegetable options and the other side, you have the main entree options with all of the meats and soups. You can also even order several desserts on the side which are right next to the cashier. If you decide to dine in, there are several table and seating areas and they have a TV up but they only show Filipino news and stuff. Again. the cultural and language barrier might be an issue but hope you enjoy it nonetheless. When you are done with your meal, you can just leave the food on the table, no problem. The prices go from 5 dollars up and that is for a small item. An average meal will be from 10 to 15. As for 2), when you come in you can pretty much feel at home right away. If you are dining in then you will have to grab one plate. They have the vegetable dishes on one side and all da high blood kine stuff on the counter. Ask the Titas there for the special or if they are any specials. Feel free just to serve yourself too. If you are dining in, they have TFC up so you can catch up. They also have videoke but not sure if it is still working. It looks pretty old. I don't know what else to say in this section. But yeah overall when you come in here it's like dining at a restaurant in the Philippines almost because of the food, vibe, and atmosphere haha. Just some side notes, they do not have a restroom. They have a wash area where you can wish your hands if you are eating by hand with any food. Some of my favorites here are the pinakbet, chicken tinola, and pork gisantes but mostly everything is good.

Cascaron is delicious! Service is another story. I am second in line to order and when it's my turn, one worker leaves and the other goes in the back. The second worker comes back out and just leans against the counter without any acknowledgement, what so ever. Then he decides to take the order of the person behind me. After he's done with her, then he realizes I'm there to order. I wouldn't have gone there if my mother didn't want some cascaron.

I don't eat here, but only pick up Cascaron!!! So yummy and fresh... it's hard to find Filipino dessert, especially Cascaron that taste this good.

Sucks! This place was recommended to me by the cab driver who took me to the airport when I visited Oahu last September. I was visiting again in October so I said to myself, ok, I'll go there when I return. I did. And I'm sorry I did. Having driven from Waikiki, I walked in and there I saw two buffet stations. No plates or bowls or silverware at either one like you would expect from a buffet restaurant. So I wondered how to proceed. Went up to the counter and there was this guy on the phone yapping away. Waited for him to finish so I could ask him how the buffet worked. Then he gets off the phone but immediately gets on another call without even acknowledging me, a customer. Then, while on the damn phone, he hands me 2 little bowls and a plate with a cup size serving of rice. This was my que I guess to get my food. He gets off the phone and walks out of the restaurant and a girl takes his place behind the counter. She takes my money. I was so goddamn pissed and I was ready to leave but then I decided to stay to try the food. The pork adobo was good, the pusit in the pusit adobo was gummy, the vegetables in gata was good. But all I could think about was the bullshit service. Then someone decides to watch some loud techno concert on the TV. It was so damn loud! I wanted to taste more food selections but I was so disappointed with the people who work there so I chose to leave. The food was not enough to save this place. NEVER AGAIN Kambingan!!!! I'll take my business to Thelma's next door next time. -------

When my mom was in town last month, an uncle ordered take out from this joint. I liked the dishes because I can't help but salivate over Filipino food, but most of what I ate from this place was on the greasy and salty side..so you know what that means -- lots of rice to absorb all of that! I would probably eat here again if someone pushed me to, but can't say I'd pick this spot to enjoy a meal. I can't give less than 3 stars because I helped myself to second servings, so it's not that bad. Karabasa (pumpkin) = A little on the salty side but yummy. Balatong with Paria (mungo beans with bittermelon leaves) = The mungo beans were cooked properly and flavored nicely but a tad salty. Still, I'd eat this again! Pork Adobo = Salty, greasy, lots of fat chunks. Pinakbet = Salty too! But delicious.

My coworker pick this spot. Decor of restaurant is nothing fancy and if u like chicken fight they show it on tv from Philippines. The food on buffet is reasonably price 15$. The white rice is cook perfect not crunchy or dry. I had six dishes from buffet including balatong, pinapaitan, adobo pork,Kau yuk stylepork, shrimp with squash and a artichoke vegetarian dish with garlic and such. Pork dishes are cut large but the meat not dry. Balatong was good no meat in it but delicious. Pinapaitan was nothing to rave about little salty but overall good. Shrimp dish was with small shrimps but most salty of all dishes. Artichoke dish had perfectly cook artichoke softest I ever ate. Overall I enjoyed the food very much I guess I eat here again someday.

It might not be shiny. It might not be in the most glam area but the food is truly authentic. It's delicious. I ate the buffet several time and come here everytime I'm on the island. Best Caldereta and halo halo.

This place is located at Westgate Enterprises. It is the same building with Ewa Nails and Thelma. This place is great for fast take out Filipino Restaurant. They have breakfast is served all day any meat you like with rice and egg, omelet, and adobo fried rice. They have a lunch buffet for $11 per person, plate lunch 1 choice $5, 2 choices $7.75 and ala carte/side orders, desserts and beverages like bubble drinks. I am Filipino and I enjoy eating Filipino food. We never had a problem and we come here quite often. As a kid, we use to come here a lot for take out. I think we came couple times for the buffet. Quality is ok. We normally come for the goat. I know, I know, goat sounds weird, but it is actually not bad. They mix it with onions and calamansi juice, black pepper, and ginger. It is good like that, but my mom likes to add more chili pepper vinegar and soy shoyu. Staff is friendly. While you dine, you can watch Filipino shows from the Direct TV access. This place is a place to check out, but like it would help if you are able to speak or know Filipino because the dishes are not labeled and the people who work here speak Filipino too.

Every time i visit Oahu, I make sure I stop to eat here. The dishes are very authentic to where my parents are from and how they cook at home. And the large portion of Halo Halo and their Biko is to die for! Love this Place!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Is there anything lower than one star? Of all the places I have been, this place is by far the worst in my entire yelping and dining experiences. My friends and I get here with the intent to purchase two buffets, a single entree rice plate, and a Filipino Breakfast Plate of Tocino. The buffet runs at about $14 a person, the single entree plate and breakfast platter run around $6. We order and everything is fine. I am then informed that there is no Tocino, but rather Tapa or Longonisa. I really had my heart set up on the Tocino plate, but I went ahead and ordered the expensive buffet and traded the substituted breakfast plate to my friend. Minutes later, after paying for the expensive buffet, one of the workers casually informs us that they do indeed have the breakfast. Wow that could have been brought to my attention yesterday! Now let's talk about the buffet. Probably a total of 14 stewed dishes ranging from Adobo, fish, pinak bet, and that list goes on. I asked them if the Lechon (roasted pork) was available and they said no. I asked if the tilipia fish was available, guess again!!! They claim that desserts are available too. Sure one of four items displayed, no babinka (rice cake), no casava cake (yucca rice cake), but rather you get ONE banana leaf wrapped steamed rice. Also the dishes taste terrible, with the exception of the adobo (chicken cooked in soy sauce and vinegar). I bet my 10 year old cousin can't mess up this dish though! Kare Kare (stewed ox) is full of fat and the sauce is awful. Caldareta (marinated goat) was over seasoned. Terrible... Here's the kicker! The kitchen completely lost my brother's breakfast plate (which I had previously traded to him). The male cashier then came over to argue with us, claiming that we canceled the breakfast rather than accept the substitution. We said "okay that's fine" and somehow he heard "no need"... wow... Terrible service, terrible food, DON'T COME HERE!!!

What can I say? I've been eating the goat dishes here ever since I was little and loved it. All the other dishes are okay, just the typical Filipino food that grandma can make. But the Goat Kalgareta is something else. If you have tried lamb before, it pretty much the same thing, but a little more gamier. Check this place out if you want to try some authentic Filipino food. They also have a buffet which starts at $13. It's not too bad considering you variety of choice ranging from sinigang and pinakbet. Yum!! In the heart of Waipahu!!

I saw Tony Solis on his TV Show, Eh! You Da Kine, Eh? sampling different Filipino dishes at this restaurant and just had to try it for myself. Well, we had lunch there today and opted for the buffet as everyone in the whole place was having the same. Now, I'm not Filipino, but my wife is and I've eaten lots of Filipino food here in Hawaii as well as in different parts of the Philippine Islands. Both my wife and I agree that the food here is the best and most authentic Filipino cooking that we've had in any restaurant on Oahu! With about 30 different dishes, all freshly prepared, you can't get a better deal anywhere else for a mere $11.00! No kidding....about 30 different dishes from Pinacbet to Adobo everything was tasty and fresh. Even the Kaldereta was delicious! We couldn't sample everything, but the variety would satisfy anyone's taste buds and appetite. One last thing, all the other customers on every table were Filipino people.

Is it me or are these previous reviews really serious about what they're raving about??? Met up with family at this place to have lunch. Thought this was going to be a hearty type Filipino cuisine type of grubbin'. We're talking about the same Filipino Express Restaurant Kambingan @ Westgate Center right? I love how they had an easy access to a sink where you can freely wash your hands. The restrooms were relatively clean. They had a next room with cheesy music on rotation that I think Filipinos love which is also used for banquets. The restaurant itself is set-up cafeteria style and has a tv tuned to TFC. Otherwise, this hole in the wall filipino restaurant was something I had never experienced before - Buffet food but it was more of the type of dishes that are more authentic to a province. I closely relate many of the familiar dishes of an Ilocano to eat. Lots of fish stew type dishes as well as lots of vegetables, like diningding (boiled vegetables dishes). Although I grew up eating this type of dishes, it just wasn't appealing to me. I ended up ordering a one choice order entree of adobo chicken with rice. It was very tasty. I also ordered halo halo - the worse I ever had. It had to sweetness at all to it, it tasted bland and like water. Very disappointing. At least I tried this place out.

The staff pretty cool its like eating in your own house, they dont tell you you cant sit in the private room and they dont bother you. We had a small foursome birthday party they gave us plates cutlery to serve our outside bought cake. Didnt charge for the cake plates like assagio or kunio so it was like having a party in your own house without the clean up. Food was ok you can eat alot of those filipin vegetables that otherwise would be expensive to cook all at once. They keep taking out new things so you can stay for a good amount of time and for that Im giving four stars.

I had my heart set on doing the hole in the wall tour of Honolulu during my 1 week vacation. After 1 meal at this place, I was inspired to do my own tour... and I kept coming back to this place. Unlike other Filipino resturant, each dish was completely different than the other. Fresh, hot, huge variety in entrees, sides and desserts! The ox tail soup, something I've always stayed from, was addictive and comforting after a long day of snorkeling. Friendly, homey service, very helpful. Definitely our best hole in the wall find on Oahu!
