The XXX was okay the food that we got was good but not great. However it was extremely overpriced even by Maui standards. So much so that on our second day we went to deli across the street and got sandwiches from there. However, the drinks are reasonably priced during happy hour and a stop here is worth it for the sunset. The reason I give this place a 3 is because of the servers based on food it would be a 2 but there servers are outstanding, they were some of the best we had on Maui. Susan gave us dinner suggestions both days were at the pool and both of her suggestions were great. Unlike the main concierge she suggested restaurants throughout the area.

We came to the bar as soon as we checked in. Coming from LA, we were overwhelmed by the staff's friendliness and helpfulness. We had a couple of beers and shots and fries plus the orangesicle (which I absolutely love!) and were pleasantly surprised by the bill. It was way below what we expected. We didn't know that they have happy hour deals. We kept coming back for the orangesicle and other drinks to go for the beach. We had the wings and shrimp cocktail, too but no real meals. So, 4 stars for the delicious orangesicle, convenient drinks for the beach, great service, happy hour prices and the view!

Located inside the Wailea Beach Marriott We Ordered a Chinese chicken Asian salad And a Mauka burger And Mai tai poolside Food was delicious and presented well. Came out quickly and hot!!!! Choices are plenty and Yes prices are expensive but it is menu off the resort and poolside, it comes with the price. However, jonboy our waiter was amazing!!!!! We had such a great experience here that it made everything we spent worth it!! Defientely a must try when staying at this resort

Your standard poolside cafe. Good: -Tropical iced tea, w/lemon AND two fresh pineapple wedges -Chicken sando, substitute the ciabatta w/wheat toast, no not WHOLE grain, but less calorie dense and greasy than the former. Lots of avo and bacon! -Solid fish tacos, hard, not fried corn tortillas, kind of strange, but plenty of creamy guac -Nice huge side lushly GREEN side salads for $6! -Bartender will make you the smoothie dairy and juice free for the same price, just WHOLE fruit and ice Skip: -Ahi sashimi, it was bad, real bad -Chicken lettuce cups, super bland without the sauce, chili sauce was goopy and overly sweet Watch out for all the birds, they will nibble at what you leave on your plates or drop on the floor. If you want to skip the birds & have no kids, I would head to the gorg Serenity Pool and order at the comfort of your chaise.

The food was better than the atmosphere and better than expected based on the other reviews, but it was still definitely over priced based on the quality.

Came here for a wedding and we stayed at the Wailea Marriott so visiting the bar was out of location. Food was okay, service was good. Just nothing memorable. Awesome views of the beach!!

I gave the extra star i would've taken for slow service, bc Lino(I think his name was) was such an awesome waiter. The food was terrific, no complaints there. Loved the fish sandwich, great bread, greater kettle chips- yum. Sat for a long time before anyone came over, and the food took way too long for the fact that only three other tables were occupied and it was not during regular lunch hours. View: amazing. Vibe: amazing. Walked the grounds a bit after, sat in the hammock, generally enjoyed it.

This is day 7 of our Maui vacation and we're trying to make the most of the sunshine so we had lunch at our resort. We were hoping for a quick lunch but it took over an hour to get our sandwich and quesadilla!!! Our server seemed to be intentionally avoiding us and we had to place some of our order with another server and ask the table busser for silverware. The food was awful and the service was horrible (both were the worst of the 20 meals we've had in Maui this week). Avoid this spot even if you're looking for the convenience of not leaving the resort.

Awful and over priced no flavor at all. Ordered a jerk chicken quesadilla and tasted nothing !! No jerk taste at all my wife's fish tacos were also very bland

Had a great time at the pool yesterday and was extremely pleased with the great service we received from the bar. Delicious drinks and excellent service!

Service - We had to wait a little over five minutes for our menus to come. And another couple minutes for drinks. They weren't really that busy. The server was really kind and friendly. She refilled our drinks quickly without request. The food took about 10 minutes to come, which isn't bad at all. Food - The food was amazing. We ordered the Korean Barbecue Wings and they tasted really good. After that, I ordered the Kumu Burger which was ok, but not really worth the price of $18. Overall - I don't think I'd come back here if I ever had the chance to. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was fine. This isn't that amazing restaurant that you'd always look forward to coming to though.

The food is very overpriced, and the menu is not great, which is super disappointing since it's the only lunch option at the Wailea Marriott. I stayed at this hotel three years ago and the food at Kumu was much better at that time, and they had a much more interesting and delicious menu. This trip, the food was so disappointing that I found myself walking to the Wailea Shops or nearby hotels to avoid eating at Kumu more than once. I don't recommend it.

We stayed at the Marriott for our honeymoon, what a fantastic resort! For lunch we stopped by the Kumu grill for a quick bite. We had the Korean hot wings and the Ultimate Grilled cheese. The Korean hot wings are medium in size with a nice crispy batter. The sauce is sweet and not at all spicy. Overall I enjoyed them and would order them again when looking to fill a craving for hot wings. The ultimate grilled cheese is fantastic. It comes on a rosemary bread with four kinds of cheeses, tomato and bacon. I would definitely ordered this again. To drink we had the Huapia and the Plantation iced tea. The Huapia is the super creamy coconutty sister of the pina colada. The Plantation iced tea was not pleasing to my pallette and I would not order it again. Korean hot wings- 4/5 Ultimate grilled cheese-5/5 Get it!!! Haupia-5/5 Plantation iced tea 2/5 Service-5\5 View 5/5 Prices- excessive

I had lunch here on a cloudy day simply to avoid leaving the resort. I had the shrimp tempura salad. The salad was big but was pretty much 90% mixed greens...very stingy on the veggies. The shrimp was good but for $20+ I expect both more meat and veggies. It was just a bowl of lettuce. It was ridiculously overpriced. But I guess I should have expected that given it was a resort restaurant/bar. For this salad and a pint of beer, my bill was $32. Ridiculous!

OK. This place can be very busy, or a bit slow so give the wait staff a break, people! The food is VERY good at Kumu. We have eaten here twice this week and are sure to eat one more time before we (sadly) depart. Ordered Fish Tacos (spicy and good!) and a REALLY tasty pork quesadilla with wonderful Maui brewed beer. Happy swimmers and vacationers are we!!! Marriott staff are the best anyway ...friendly and SO SO informative! Side note: Terry (poolside waitress) is vibrant and fun loving and works so hard to please everyone.

This is your typical over-priced resort bar and grill. So why the Four Stars?!?! Because we had an awesome server that helped us forget how much we were spending at the bar! We were usually here during Happy Hour and there were specials at 3-4-and 5pm. Specials ranged from cheaper drinks to half priced appetizers. The bartender made the drinks well and the server brought them out fast. The gorgeous view from the pool/bar also wasn't bad!

they use canned cheezwhiz on the nachos. seriously? While the pork was decent i've had better nachos at a bowling alley. the calamari was pretty decent, not tough and chewy like many places. kudos to paula (i think?) she was a fantastic bartender!

Husband and I came here for a drink after an afternoon shopping next door. We love the our door bar with great drinks and good food. Now I adjusted the good food because it is a pool bar. I don't neccessary expect the food to be as good as in the restaurant upstairs but it did hit the spot. The view from the bar was incredible. We were able to see migrating whales in the distance. The bartender was friendly and efficient. The Wailea Marriott is one of my favorite properties in Maui and it is my go to because husband and I were married at a very small and romantic cove not too far from here.

Pool side service doesn't start until noon! Fish Tacos, dry and very bland even with the salsa. Buffalo Wings were good with plenty of spicy sauce, carrots and celery. The $15 poolside drinks were OK. They usually have a daily drink special for $9.50.

I thought we could just lounge in our bathing suit and enjoy the pool and nice view of the ocean and order lunch from here. Big mistake! Our lunches were mini sliders, Caesar salad, some kind of lettuce wrap, and a sandwich. All of them sub par! Huge disappointment. Over priced + bad food = a very unhappy me! Once again DON'T be lazy. Throw on a T-shirt and walk next door to the shopping center or drive a few miles to get better food.

The fish tacos were horrible! Very fishy and not very fresh as you would expect. My husband and kids food were not great either.

Unbelievable horrid quality of FOOD! How can anyone ruin FRIED food? Fried calamari tasted like unevenly burnt Magic Rub sliced erasers! Onion rings for a side to a burger or sandwich were extra 6.50 for 4 burnt oily unedible ri GS even a kid would not eat. Overpriced Marriott burger was only touched by two bites before hungry kid said lets go..I don't like this....DON'T go here even if you have to drive out of resort or settle for chips and soft drinks from the gift shops or the nearby Shops at Wailea. DISAPPOINTMENT even though we gave them 203 chances!?!!!!!!!!!!

Burger was ok Crab and shrimp sandwich was not good at all, wife dumped the crab mix and ate the toppings Onion rings were great, all be it insanely priced at 6 for 6$ Overpriced lunch as expected at the resort. Lunch for two was 75$. Good thing it was free with my stay. Eat here cause your tired and hungry, otherwise get in the car.

Only had the pork nachos and lots of drinks here, but they were both very good. Price is high, but it is Maui and you're at a resort so what do you expect.

Excellent Mai Tai, one of the best I had on the island, definitely the best at a resort. Bar staff is friendly and talkative. They had the World Series games on the televisions so we spent some time here in the afternoon. Beers on tap are mostly Kona and Maui Brewing.

Kumu salad with Kula greens (mixed greens), cherry/grape tomatoes, chicken (thigh), cucumbers, shelled edamame. The greens were a nice change from the usual mixed greens that you get at most restaurants, but the tomatoes and cucumbers were kind of standard; edamame was an interesting change, though I don't think it necessarily added anything to the dish. I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was really moist and juicy, like thigh meat instead of the usual dry breast that's served in salads. The papaya seed dressing intrigued me, but it tasted like some slightly-sweeter rendition of ranch dressing. My bf liked his veggie flatbread--like a thin pita pizza with some kind of savory spread of tapenade, atop of which was layered slices of cucumber, tomato, small blobs of goat cheese and slices of red/Maui onion. I like those ingredients individually, but they didn't really come together for me. I would have liked the flatbread alone with the tapenade.

Hamburgers are huge! They are good but not the best that I have I had. Pizzas are not recommended. I had a mushroom pizza but barely any mushrooms were on the pizza. Ok for a poolside bar and grill. Definitely have been to better at other resorts. Staff is friendly.

While staying at this hotel and based on a recommendation for this place under another review, I had their BBQ Pork nachos with queso. It was wonderful! I had them twice during the week I was there and thought about them the rest of the time. Plus the bar's haupias (order with chocolate syrup on the bottom) were wonderful and available for poolside delivery!! The sweet potato fries and fruit plate with honey yogurt dip were also okay. I did not like their buld-your-own lettuce wraps, but my friend did.

Thought it couldn't possibly happen twice now but it surely it did! We live here and walk the wailea beach path quite often and decided to stop by Kumu for a quick over priced sandwich and drink. Didn't get service while sitting at the bar for 8 minutes - not even a hello/aloha, head bob or be right with you. Decided to take our business to the Grand Wailea. Now, a second time which happened to be more recent, same thing happened but this time at the poolside tables. There were 4 other tables getting served all around us but no server came by ours. The water guy did which happened to be very friendly - Ronie I think his name was. Again, waited, waited, and waited a good 8 minutes and said screw-it. Not twice now! Headed down to the Grand Wailea where I was greeted immediately and over-paid for my turkey burger. Thanks Marriott - I'll be sure to tell everyone about your wonderful service down by the pool - NOT
