the drinks are good and not weak but the crowd makes me not like this bar. it's an older crowd of extremely obnoxious and loud people. they have added a tv showing sports and now blast music that all the drunks scream along to.
Very cool little hidden secret! It took me a few days to find this. Great place to grab a drink and watch the game without having to get out of the pool. Then up the stairs from the bar is a hot tub with a great view of the ocean. I recommend buying the souvenir cups because its like the best adult drinking cup in the pool!
My biggest problem with the Grotto Bar is that they serve food and you can eat in the water. Um that's gross. I witnessed nacho sauce and salad dressing being dripped inadvertently in the pool--straight up ew.

I really want this to be 5 stars but there were just a few minor issues making it a solid 4.5! Were arrived around 5:45 and were seated outside with a full ocean and sunset view as requested. Our waiter was new but did a good job. Our assistant waiter however was outstanding, some of the best service we have ever had. We started with cocktails which is my first complaint. Yes they are $17 which is fine, I am at Spago in Maui. However it must have been about 2 ounces. Look at the picture, I swear I didn't take a sip! We had the sashimi appetizer which was big eye tuna and hamachi, absolutely delicious. The fish was so fresh it was like butter melting in your mouth. For entrees we ordered the ribeye and "chinios" lamb chops. Both were cooked to perfection. The rib eye had just enough marbling and the lamb chops were very tender and flavorful. Here is my next little complaint, they had 3 options for sides Friday night. All three were vegetables, very strange. No baked potato, no mashed potato, no fries, no lobster mac, nothing...all veggies. They did have several dessert options which always make me happy. We decided on the "Sticky Icky" which is a date cake with ice cream. It was okay, a little dry and nothing spectacular. Overall it was a fantastic dining experience with an incredible view of the ocean and sunset. I will definitely return when back in Maui. ATTN SPAGO: I hope you are reading these reviews. Our assistant waiter Jansen provided us with some of the best service we have ever received in a restaurant. I felt like my best friend or brother was serving me. Warm, friendly but very professional. He needs to be promoted to waiter ASAP.
We made a booking here, with hesitation. We were staying at Four Seasons for 3 nights. After 8 nights in Lahaina at a private estate with 12 other family members, this was the true start of our Honeymoon. We turned in our rental car, and pledged not to leave the resort for 3 days! There were some unfavourable reviews for Spago, but we left it up to our concierge to decide where to start out our stay, knowing this dinner would set the mood for all of our dining at Four Seasons. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! Our receipt says that SMEGHAN was out server, I assume it's Meghan S. She was wonderful. Friendly, helpful, attentive. A true hospitality worker. We started with a cocktail each. Hot Legs, and the Locked and Loaded. Both just beautiful drinks! I love a cocktail that shows skill and effort! For Entre we had the signature cones and the ceviche. Both delicious. For Mains we both had off the menu specials. Neither disappointed. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Having had cocktails, we shared a half bottle of wine, just to accompany our mains. We shared the Truffle Cake for dessert. All up, it was $300, and we found this reasonable considering ambiance, location, service, and quality, We would go back, so we're glad we took the chance despite some mixed reviews online.
How anyone could rate this under five stars ins beyond me. Easily one of if not the best dinner of my life. Must visit. Excellent service and excellent food

My favorite place on the south shore. Good consistent product. Friendly staff and Kama'aina prices.
The coffee was delicious and the nutty Hawaiian is the best drink on the menu! The boy with the ostrich haircut was a great barista! He said his name was Aaron. More tips for Aaron!

What a great evening. I wanted to pick someplace special for my birthday dinner - and I had seen an ad in the newspaper that Duo was participating in the Hawaii Restaurant Week. $39 for a 3-course meal at the Four Seasons?! Sure! We were a little early for our reservation (I wasn't sure how long it would take to get here from Lahaina), so we were invited to have a cocktail, but we decided to wander the grounds a bit and soak up the ambiance. Lovely. Just lovely. A great place to be just after sunset - tiki torches, lit-up fountains... it was all beautiful! We were seated promptly at our reservation time - the restaurant is elegant, yet totally casual and Hawaiian. It's open, breezy, and comfortable. We had a great view of the pool area and ocean beyond from our seat. Our waiter was helpful, prompt, and friendly. He helped my parents (who don't usually drink wine) pick out a very tasty Chardonnay and made recommendations for pairings with dinner as well. We all opted for the prix fixe meal. I chose the Maui onion soup for a starter (even in this heat!) and it was so good! Sweeter and lighter than French onion soup, but with all the delicious cheesy goodness of French onion. :) My entree was the braised short ribs - and you could add (for $10) either a half a lobster tail, a prawn, or 5 scallops. I thought I misread the type and it should have read "prawnS", but no - it was just one. One. Huge. Prawn. My mom was sure they messed up and sent out a lobster instead, but no. The biggest, juiciest, most delicious prawn ever came out with my ribs - worth every penny of that $10. The ribs were the most succulent I've ever taste. The only reason I had to use my knife was to push ribs and mashed potatoes onto my fork. We also had to add the white cheddar truffle mac n' cheese - all the reviews raved about it and now I know why! It was so decadent and rich! The truffle flavor was strong but not overpowering - and the mac n' cheese had the perfect crust with a little crunch to it, covering up a gooey, cheesey, al dente pasta. Delicious. We fought over that pan of mac! Dessert... ah, dessert. I wish I'd eaten less of the mac (well, no, not really). But there were two choices - a chocolate creme brulee with pink grapefruit sorbet (I hate creme brulee, but my stepdad said it was delicious!), and my choice: Island Trifle. Um... YUM. ladyfingers soaked in dark rum, layered with pineapple chunks, cream, and mango & lilikoi mousse. I wish I could have finished this one, but I was just too full. We had a fantastic experience - great ambiance, wonderful service, and delicious food. I would recommend Duo to anyone looking for a special night out in Maui.
Better steak than spago upstairs! Ate at spago last night and duo tonight and found the New York had much more flavor at duo than spago and $10 less per entrée Plus, who can beat cotton candy for dessert!
We are staying at the Marriott next to Four Seasons. It's a nice walk to Duo steak and seafood restaraunt which is located at Four Seasons. The Service is excellent. The pan seared Monchong fish fillet and Grilled Scallops were recommended.. Both were fantastic. The Hawaiian fish Monchong is a steak fillet mild flavor, very good, served with roasted vegetables and pasta. Grilled Scallops were equally fantastic. Grilled perfectly. The Riesling white wine was perfect. All in all I would definetly return maybe try breakfast next time. The outdoor oceanfront setting is beautiful and relaxing. Adds to the ambience ..oh and the pretty cotton candy they bring you at the end of Dinner is a nice touch. And yummy ..

Definitely recommend this small cafe for fresh deli sandwiches and fresh fruit. Think an expensive version of in-hotel Panera Bread. Would recommend for anyone staying at the Fairmont Kea-Lani. Try smoked turkey, potato salad, roasted veggies, tuna salad, fruit cups, pastries, and coffee. All delicious! 4 stars only because of price, if 20% less expensive it would be 5 stars.
A convenient place to get a quick deli lunch or breakfast. They have sandwiches, pizza, dessert, and other items. They also sell snacks and souvenirs. There's a nifty service where they pack a picnic basket for you. This is a great option if you're heading on that long trip to Hana and want to picnic at one of the waterfalls or sights. They have a $55 basket and a $50 basket. We opted for the $55 basket which includes 2 sandwiches, 2 salads, 2 liter walers, chips, etc. I believe the other basket has fried chicken. They pack everything in a soft cooler with a few ice packs, utensils, and condiments. I got the Italian sandwich and it was huge - it was enough for 2 people. In another trip, I got the coconut gelato which was delicious. As with anything inside a hotel, the convenience will cost you =P
Great little grocery/deli/breakfast spot in the Fairmont Kea Lani just inside from the adult pool. The fresh pineapple is a sweet deal (pun intended) where you get a quarter of fresh pineapple in cubes for only $3. Also available is melon, papaya and other fruits. Many salads, wraps and sandwiches including customer made sandwiches are available for purchase to go or to eat at the limited number of in and outdoor tables. There's an ice cream selection, speciality coffees and juices. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent as are the selection of pastries. This was my favorite casual restaurant in the Kea Lani and the prices are extremely reasonable.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about the Grand Wailea. We were upgraded to a huge suite with ocean and mountain view, a full living room, huge patio and club access (club access gives you breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktail hour). We only went to the adult pool and it was GREAT. No screaming kids, no splashing, no bullshit - just a quiet, enjoyable time at the pool. The service at the pool was a little bit slow for drinks, but the Basil Watermelon Cooler was worth the wait - so delicious. And seriously - it's not so hard to wait for a drink when there are no kids screaming around you. Have I mentioned that there were NO SCREAMING KIDS?! Beautiful. Oh yeah, one negative - the food here was horrible. I'm not taking a star off for this, as the restaurants are separate in my eyes. I'm only rating the accommodations and resort itself. Do yourself a favor and venture out to Leoda's and get some of their delicious sandwiches and amazing banana cream pie. No matter how hungry you may get the room service will be a big fail. This is true with most hotels, sure, but at a place like the Grand Wailea you do kinda expect a bit of a step up from junk. Lower your expectations if you do order. As much as I hate repeating vacations, this is one place i could totally see visiting again.
The honey and I got a fantastic deal off of Hotwire for the Grand Wailea + Hawaiian Airlines tickets and ended up paying around $2500 during early September for the Garden View room package. Because this was a resort I'm going to do this review a bit differently than I do my usual reviews. Right below this is going to be a list of the stuff I'd love to see changed, and after that I'll go into more detail on the services and our experiences with them and when possible a link to that particular attraction. Major to minor requests: * A bracelet for 21+ guests. Expecting people to carry an ID, or better yet a passport into the Grotto or on the slides is silly. * Rent the cars by the hour. * Sell stamps at the gift shop. Standing in line behind everyone checking in and checking out is exhausting. * Change all cabana towels every day. * Add further Spa Grande signage during it's renovation. Next to the 3rd floor Chapel Wing elevators would make a world of difference. * Create variation to all menus or bring back the sushi restaurant. The food was across the board awful - it and the drinks are the reason we won't be buying a membership and are unlikely to return. Okay - for the people who have no dietary restrictions and don't mind eating really bad food or renting a car the whole time, this next section is for you. THE FOOD: Is simply bad (and the main reason we won't return) and about $19-30 dollars a plate on top of being awful. Here are my various reviews of the different spaces. Humu's is probably the best food you can get onsite, and between them and the Grotto they have the best blended drink selection. The food at the resort is VERY similar and basically consists of 3-4 salads, 3 flat breads/pizzas, several mahis, nachos and a couple hotdog like bar foods at Vocano/Grotto. yelp.com/biz/grotto-bar-… yelp.com/biz/cafe-kula-w… yelp.com/biz/botero-bar-… yelp.com/biz/volcano-bar… yelp.com/biz/bistro-molo… THE DRINKS: Run about $17-22 dollars mixed - again very disappointing since the alcohol content is almost nil and most are not blended. I finally started ordering wine. THE ROOM: Our Lagoon wing Garden View room had one large rather downside for me personally as it had no heater (no rooms do). Not an issue until it was dark thankfully and really only one night was "cold" but still, I was glad I brought an extra blanket with me. Conversely, our bathroom was huge and the balcony super cute. I don't think anyone was in the rooms next to us until the last day as we never heard anyone else through the walls. It was lovely. I will say that because our room was where it was, it was on the quieter side and we could hear the waves at night. Some of the rooms in the Lagoon wing though could be really awful right now depending on how unlucky you were. They directly faced the slides and the entryway was through a small corridor currently under jackhammering renovation that everyone used who had a room facing the garden. Some other amenities we enjoyed: THE CABANAS: Were fantastic and worth every penny! Seriously! Pricing also varies on how early you rent it and what day. yelp.com/biz/cabanas-at-… SPA GRANDE: Nice but with the renovation not necessarily worth the money for the experience. yelp.com/biz/spa-grande-… THE RENTAL CARS: We chose the mustang convertible (white) which made for a bit of hilarity as twice other patron's using the valet mistook it for their car and were about to drive off with it before we caught them. Apparently it's the most common car on the island. They also ran about $150 ($30 insurance) a day. It was totally worth it as my favorite aspects of the trip were going off site. THE SERVICE: The service at the Grand was fantastic with the exception of the food. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We asked for mouthwash, it was there within 10 minutes. We requested bottled water brought to the room - it showed up 5 minutes after we got back - for free. After having some near miss slips we put several pool towels on the floor in our bathroom and on the 3rd day they gave us a rug. I'd also inquired about membership prior to the trip and on the second day we received a gift basket with water and some goodies for considering it. Super sweet! If the food and drink had been better it would have been a perfect experience. As it was, the pools were wonderful but due to the food and drink issues we probably would not return.
We're diamond... and our stay included our brother in laws' family as our guests plus my parents. As such we get around a bit and have visited many dozens of good as well as epic properties for business and pleasure. This occasion was a first time for us at the Grand Wailea - and it impressed us in most regards. Our kids had a nice time in the water with the lazy river + pools and water elevator. Endless fun, really. The resort grounds were extensive and varied - my spouse and I had memorable strolls on several occasions... and service was generally top notch. Our rooms were a good deal using points on this occasion - however I would not hesitate to return at almost any cost as this was one superbly pleasant visit. I guess the only obstruction to returning here is we have family on the island who have a large estate under construction where we might stay on our next few visits? Or if not then I assure you that the Grand Wailea would be our home away from home on Maui! Otherwise - among the many varied details I could comment on - I'll concentrate on a simple concluding remark - I love this place!

Humo's is at the Grand Wailea and is very convenient if you are staying here. The view is nice the service always good but the food is mediocre. As you would expect on Maui it is expensive and may be worth it at sunset.
This restaurant was so. much. fun. It's on stilts in a lagoon with fish and stuff underneath. The ambiance added so much I would almost forget the food. But the food was delicious too! If you're in the area, it's not to be missed.
Beautiful view and food is awesome! Great spot and would definitely return! Our best dining experience while on Maui including Duo, which was very good.

Great salads and a killed grilled mahi mahi wrap with guacamole in a sun-dried tomato tortilla are delicious. My favorite salad in the Volcano Ahi salad with fresh ahi, greens, tomatoes, vegetable curls, green onion, delicious won ton chips and a sweet sesame vinaigrette with a slight kick. Dining next to the pool in a location with views of the ocean and the Fairmont's luxurious grounds is a great way to spend time in Wailea. Fresh pineapple, orange or guava juice are also available. To top this off is an awesome cocktail menu featuring a "PIYI", (pronounced pie-pie). 151 Rum, creme de cocoa, coconut, POG and pineapple served in an actual pineapple is an excellent choice.
Let's get this place in the Yelp world!! Fantastic dishes. Not just burgers. In fact there are only two burgers on the menu. Service is great and the food is freshly caught and brought every day. Ahi is our favorite and they have a few dishes with the Ahi. You cant go wrong.
I'm a little surprise this place only average 3.5 star reviews. We came this place 3 times in 7 days to lay out, swim in the pool, drink, and eat while watching NBA finals. The service is excellent. We follow the server/bartender's recommendation on food and it was excellent( especially wings and the burger). Drinks were good but sometimes a little weak.

I must admit I was a bit hesitant to dine here with all the iffy reviews. However, I'm glad we dined here. We ordered the prawn, the pork chop and the burger. OMG all 3 was cooked to perfection. The pork chip was moist and it just melts in your mouth. The burger was tender and the prawn was flavorful. I'm a a major foody and this definitely exceed my expectation.
It was our first night at the grand Wailea and we did not want to drive anywhere. Very casual atmosphere and open air dining. We made a reservation and came early. We were seated right away. I ordered a guava jalapeño margarita and my husband got a Gin and tonic. He decided to upgrade his gin to Tank10 but did not realize until we got the bill that it was a $19 G&T. My husband had the Kurobuta pork which was grilled over creamy polenta and garlic broccolini with a mushroom bacon Demi glaze. That was well prepared and very tasty. I had the catch of the day of mahi mahi over sweet potato mash, garlic broccolini with a mango citrus sauce and basil oil. The fish was good but I was not liking the sweet potato mash with it. I kept stealing the polenta from my husband. Overall a good meal. Service was very good too. Add photo
The negative reviews here are no where close to what we experienced. The fish n chips that I got with Maui onion rings were great and tasty. It was made with Mahi-Mahi...not the cheap stuff Tilapia all other places use. My wife had the tuna poke wrap. What can I say? Wow! That was great, yummy and unique. That was the first time I had poke in a wrap. We then had the banana split boat and some brownie dessert dish which we shared with my best friend and his wife. Couple this with great service and a great view of the resort and ocean; I rate this a solid 5 stars.

Reviews:
Cafe Kula is where you go when you're desperate. Desperate for booze ($9 for a small rum mixer) because the bar hasn't opened, desperate for drinks or quick food. It's a glorified overpriced convenience store with a small "grill" in the back and it's what convinced us to get an uber and head to an actual grocery. 3 dollars for a banana is outrageous. And so was the line for one small pancake. On the plus side they do have quite a bit of seating, so grabbing an overpriced coffee and sitting here isn't such a bad idea - the view after all, is gorgeous.
Resort cafe that is a nice stop for lunch. Outdoor seating with grand, and I do mean Grand views of the surroundings, the ocean and some of the other islands. Good mix of Hawaiian and American food fare. Servers are pronto and efficient.
Cafe Kula nearly saved my life. Here's how: I have the combined appetite of a Billy Goat and Shrek, so waiting for everyone to get ready in the morning really stirred up those hunger pangs. When everyone was ready, my Dad and sis decide that they'd much rather swim than eat. OMFG. My stomach nearly ate itself while waiting for them to get ready.. and they decide to go swimming instead of eat??!!!!!!! I almost busted out some Half-Korean Incredible Hulk action. asdfjkl; Thankfully, Cafe Kula was near enough to where my step mom could look around at the shops while I stuffed my face with goodies. Although not the most complicated of dishes or the most gourmet, the food was still good. It was basic health-conscious breakfast grinds... Good, and expensive. Thankfully, I was able to just charge it to my room. (Thanks Dad!) Really basic breakfast runs from 6am-11am: cereal & milk, granola & milk, pastries, bagels & cream cheese, lox & bagel, fruits, etc. Hot, cooked breakfast runs from 7am-11am: breakfast pizza, quiche, sausage biscuit, breakfast burritos, french toast, waffles, etc. EGG WHITE, SPINACH & TURKEY BACON BURRITO With cheddar cheese wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla, served with salsa and a side of fresh fruits yelp.com/biz_photos/cafe… This wrap was pretty thin for my liking, but still tasty and fulfilling enough to keep the Korean Hulk quiet for an hour or so. I loved this combination of ingredients, especially with the salsa. (Even though I had to do my own sprucing up of the salsa with some tabasco.) PORTUGUESE SAUSAGE BURRITO Scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage and cheddar cheese wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla yelp.com/biz_photos/cafe… This was perfect with the added spinach I requested. This was thicker and much more filling than the other egg white burrito. The thick chunks of Portuguese sausage were juicy and extremely flavorful. These bad boys are what made this wrap as great as it was. And it paired perfectly with my spruced up version of the Cafe Kula salsa (and the Mango Strawberry Rita I had poolside). VERDICT If you're looking for a unique dining experience with epicurean-type twists on traditional favorites, then this probably isn't what you're looking for. BUT if you're looking for a convenient, health-conscious, feel-good, "I don't have to run a marathon after eating" kind of meal, then heyyyyyyyy now... this may be for you. But even though I wasn't really looking for a healthy meal, and I was looking for something tasty enough to settle my hunger pangs, Cafe Kula did it for me. Two thumbs up for that. 31 Yelps Review Challenge - #04/31
