We had excellent service and food. The salad was delicious. The hamburger was large and tasty. The chicken was excellent. We had a blonde this waitress who had great suggestions and provided excellent service. It is a little pricey, but we expect that at the St. Regis.

A great pool bar. It's that simple. We had a great time here. Made some cool friends, had great service and listened to live music when a local band was rehearsing at the bar. Drinks were great and the burgers were spot on. TV's had the games playing. Prices were a bit high but expected at a resort pool bar. Still cheaper than Yankee Stadium. If you are visiting the St. Regis during the day, this is the place to hang.

What an expierence. Arrived 4:45 and noticed waitress was picking up all menus and silverware. The bar was empty and we asked if we could sit at a table and bartender said it was fine (Tables Dirty). The waitress took awhile to come by and she actually asked us if we were going to go to bar to get drinks or if we wanted her to help us. So now she had to depart to get the menu's since she had taken them off of the tables. In the mean time all of the tables had filled up as did the bar. She arrived back at our table and my wife ordered a glass of wine and I ordered a Mai Tai. In looking at the menu we realized the food service was to end at 5:30 and bar to close at 6? Our drinks arrived after awhile which I suspect was to try and have us avoid ordering food. My Mai Tai was all fruit juice to the point I could have given to the child at the next table. My wife's wine glass had lip stick on it and she the glass smelled like garlic. We noticed the waitress going around tables to reminding everyone that they better order drinks now or it will be too late. With us she just dropped off our bill without even assuming we might want another drink but since our service and drinks were the worst I think not. The worst Mai Tai ever! We went to Bar Acuda and I was served one of the best Mai Tai's (Kona Inn Big Island being the best and Merriman's Maui second). Hey and my wife's wine glass we clean!

  • Rafael Y.

Jeremy, an island native, and all the staff were very pleasant. The mai tai was the best on the island of Kauai (should be for $15). I had the ahi sliders which were quite tasty and filling with the spicy sencha thai hot sauce. I should have had the side of fries instead of the salad which was just red lettuce. The setting and view at this Starwood property overlooking Hana Lei' Bat was absolutely breathtaking.

a pool bar at a St Regis, 'nuff said

We had lunch here twice. The Ahi Sliders were excellent and the serving size was a good, but the Prawn Cocktail was ridiculously overpriced and small. I believe it was $19 for 6 measly shrimps. The sauces were just ok and the shrimp looked boiled. The cucumber-ginger cocktail was good but other drinks weren't as yummy. Two drinks each plus 2 light lunch options was close to $100. I realize that being near the pool and close to the beach means there is a premium price, and I'm ok with that. I just expect the food and cocktails to be good every time.

Sorry St. Regis, this menu needs to be overhauled. We ate here repeatedly, but never really had a good meal. The best thing on the menu is the pork slider app. The chips and dip trio are also a good way to go. I normally like a basic shrimp cocktail and this one was a little lackluster in its version of a pineapple cocktail sauce. It needed some serious heat and a different presentation. Please give me somewhere to put my tails if you are going to serve me four prawns in a martini glass. I asked the server where they intended patrons to put their tails, to which she replied, "good question" and brought us some small plates. I think the burgers are a pretty safe option as well. I actually did the chicken with chimichurri sauce, no bun, and a salad a few days. The drink menu, on the other hand, is fantastic. Yay! The Aloha Mary is definitely worth a try if you like Bloodys. The sea asparagus garnish is unique. I also love their Ginger-Lychee Caipiroska, the Antioxident Blues (3 oz pour!) and the Mai Tai. Be prepared to nap, or at least want one if you have a couple in the sun. The servers and hosts were all fantastic. Literally, the only thing wrong is the food. Just a few tweaks could make a big difference.

Food was alright. Not a teen friendly menu. Service was good, but not worth a return visit.

The staff at this pool bar provided meals for us all the way down on the beach!! There were so many days where you just want to lay out in the sun and relax.. and on those days.. you can count on the Nalu Kai Grill + Bar to provide you with tropical libations and tasty meals to keep you satisfied! The hubs and I opted for the pina colada, featuring the island's own, old lahaina silver rum, and I got the mango daquiri!!! To snack on, we got the kalua flatbread with traditional hawaiian kalua pork, topped with yummy caramelized maui onions, maui gold pineapple chunks and fontina cheese bits! We got this with BBQ pork sliders which had this GREAT mango BBQ sauce, served on a brioche bun! The flatbread tasted pretty solid, but the pork sliders were... OUT OF THIS WORLD BANGING. The tang and sweetness from the BBQ sauce and the soft brioche bun were fingerlicking good!!! We should have just requested two orders. 3.5 stars for the food, rounding up for the outstanding service by the staff!

This poolside restaurant at the St Regis Princeville is exactly what you would expect and want it to be. You can sit at the bar, tables, or your pool chair for service. The menu includes some healthy items such as salads and fish, as well as a hot dog and hamburger. My husband and I both ordered Mai Tais and mahi mahi tacos. They were so good! The server was very attentive and quick. The only reason I gave it 3 instead of 4 stars is the prices were a bit high; which is expected at a resort like this.

  • Vina O.

Probably the worst dining option at the St. Regis. The only good thing about this restaurant is the service, but really... all St. Regis employees are incredibly friendly and helpful. I had their burger, which for over $20 was one of the most mediocre burgers I've had. My husband had their Kahlua pork and pineapple flatbread, which he stated tastes like it was defrosted in the microwave.

  • Bobby Y.

Wow this is probably the quickest update to a review, but our last simple food order here took exactly 1 hour and 5 minutes to arrive at our poolside table. A Kale salad and a Turkey Burger - that's all we ordered. Downgrade to 3 stars for inconsistent service. Ended up taking my salad to go, as I had to run to a meeting.

Get the cucumber ginger margarita! Delish. The special bonus is that it comes with 2 pieces of ginger candy. Yum. Staff were so warm and welcoming and helped us think about fun things to do while in Kauai. The gluten-free Hawaiian pizza was very tasty -- mostly thin and crispy. Laid back bar environment with a beautiful view of the beach. Very expensive but I guess that's expected at the St. Regis.

    (4)
  • Briget P.

The coconut smoothie was excellent! It was very sweet but after the ice melts, it's refreshing. Beautiful view of the beach and sunny patio seating. My fish tacos were disappointing and flavorless. I would stick to just hanging out and having drinks.

This bar and grill is located at the St Regis poolside. They have tables to sit at or at the bar but you can also have your food brought to you at your chairs along the pool and beach area. Try their Aloha Mary which is a Bloody Mary made with Clamato, wasabi and sirracha...very tasty and lighter than a regular mary. The Margarita with cilantro and chili pepper is very good too. For lunch we had the MLT which is grilled Mahi Mahi, Lettuce, Tomato and Bacon (my SO got my bacon). It was very good. Shout out to Frank and Noah for taking such good care of us as well as the bartenders, other servers and pool staff.. Oh...they have a TV at the bar so you can watch sports, look right to the ocean and Bali Hai. yelp.com/biz_photos/0nik…

Do not pass Go, go directly to foodie jail for misrepresenting your Mediterranean tapas night to be anything like either modifier. Now is when I wish I were bulemic....and what is the late Steve Jobs issue with the spelling of bulemic that my iPad cannot accept the word? Was his estranged sister bulemic? Ha, I've forced the iPad to comprehend. But I digress so that at least you get some humor from this. 5 sticks of wimpy asparagus with two shavings of Manchego and two figs in balsalmic which didn't go at all. Mushrooms said to be Ali'i from Kona and compared to oyster mushrooms were more Iike wood ear and had a little parsley, pepper, garlic and olive oil on top. Blech. I only them because I was raised to eat my vegetables. The poached egg hamachi was inedible (Steve didn't like that word either), the hamachi smoked and cooked, not delicate, tasted like bad canned tuna. My cats would decline this dish. 3 ok but totally unimpressive prawns with a little garlic comprised my 4th dish. Ok so? $15. Not worth the suffering. And so it goes. I will spare you the rest... Ok, not entirely. Only mediocre wines by the glass. Chip in my glass. Terrible service. They did remove two items from bill....the horrendous egg dish and the crappy wine I took two sips of. Going up to the St Regis Bar now for a few appetizers and a much needed margarita to numb the pain.

  • Lauren F.

Even though Nalu Kai is in the St. Regis, one fact remains-it is still just a pool bar. The cocktails here were pretty good-I loved the Aloha Mary and a Blueberry/Lemonade Antioxidant cocktail that I tried. Actually, I pretty much enjoyed all the drinks I had here. The food, however, was hit or miss. The pita chips and dip were very good and came in a huge portion. The Ahi Coconut Ceviche though, not very good, it just didn't really have any flavor. It is very convenient if you're just laying out at the pool all day, but considering what they are charging here, if you have a car I would drive to the Princeville Shopping Center or into Hanalei for a good meal instead.

I didn't have any food from them, but I had quite a few Tai Chi mai taus, which were great. Service was quick. Great for the pool.

Came here w really high hopes, despite some sad reviews. The setting is great, but the food is straight terrible. Skip the tartare, its like they cant be bothered to create a dish, for 18$ you get a small pile of tuna and some stale taro chips w soy sauce packets. Coconut shrimp is very blah, 5 pieces on a sad leaf of lettuce, dry, blah for sure. Flatbreads are a joke, not only does it look like something a kid made in their microwave but it tastes like that too, small soggy and unappetizing. All those calories a total waste. Turkey burger is ok but a slice of cheese on it would go a long way. Service is sloooow. We didnt get set ups, asked for them, it toook 5 minutes to get them, our food got cold, i had time to walk over to bar and grab some forks! Service is very polite and very inefficient. Major disappointment with an 80$ price tag, especially as i love the st. regis brand.

As a guest at the St. Regis, I was forced to try the Nalu Kai for lunch as this is the only option pool or beachside. I was shocked by the prices and the lack of major selections. I ended up getting a simple Cheeseburger and fries ($25) & an "Aloha Mary" ($16) x 2 for my wife and I. Thats $95 with tax & tip! Sadly, the burger was average and the Bloody Mary tasted like a salt lick dipped in tomato juice. Never ate there again in my ten day stay.

Poolside dining and drinking, this was an amazing experience. Our waiter Mark was very attentive and the food and drinks were excellent. Coupled with the views, then you can understand the price they charge but it is worth it. The St. Regis is a crown jewel of hotel-going and anything there is great, highly recommend!

Located by the pool with a nice ocean breeze. The service was good, food was good, pretty pricey, and they had a good wine list. I was bummed they were out of all draft beers both days I was there. The ahi nachos were delicious!! Watch out for the birds, they are super aggressive and will take your food.

  • Keikilani S.

Very pricey, no real bang for the buck. $22 glass of house wine (Hess) was a shock, but enjoyed poolside nonetheless. Faux glassware for pool area was a classy touch versus regular plastic. All service personnel were awesome!

Originally, we came to enjoy the sunset from Kauai Grill at The St. Regis, but since it was a 45 minute wait, we decided to go more laid back and hit the Mediterranean grill, Nalu Kai Grill, poolside. Beautiful setting! The mountains are on one side, the pool on another side, and the beach in front of you amidst a garden with tiki torches and tables with thatched umbrellas. Tapas are usually a nice change but it was nearly impossible to share some of these mini plates. The seared ahi citrus tuna was by far the best tasting thing we ordered. The lamb "stew" with almonds was described by the waitress as being like slow cooked pork. Although I pictured a stew, the meat itself was tasty but on the drier side which is much different than stew. My husband ordered the anchovy and caramelized onion pizza (about the size of a personal lean cuisine microwave pizza) which had a perfect thin salty crust. Since I'm not an anchovy fan, I found that placing the lamb on the pizza was actually quite good. I also ordered a kamachi avacado tapa which was 3 small thin slices of fish, sliced similar to how nigiri sushi is sliced but without the rice. The kamachi was okay but I'm not sure for $16 it was worth it. The ginger lychee caipiroska cocktail was my favorite thing about this place. Next time I would order this $16 drink and the $24 seared citrus tuna "salad" mini skewer which would be a good appetizer before going somewhere else to eat.

You can't beat the view I will say that. Expensive drinks $16! Mediocre service. Waiter forgot toppings for burgers and fish on the salad was not the correct one. Dry and tasteless hamburger. A dot of ketchup comes with your burger & fries. Should be much better for a St. Regis hotel!

    (2)
  • Tyler C.

Chips are stale, salsa pale...Of course, the main attraction here is the view, liquors, and ale. We enjoyed a late lunch with great company, beautiful views, and attentive service! We had a delicious lava flow that enhanced our meal.

  • Cynthia M.

Unfortunately, this was a letdown for me. Service outside by the pool and beach was extremely slow. The attendants and servers seemed almost overwhelmed and confused, which was shocking for a St. Regis level property. Also it seemed like they let anyone use the facilities which I feel should be limited to those staying at the hotel. If you are staying at the hotel, I recommend skipping the pool service and enjoying drinks and snacks on the terrace or at the st. regis bar!

  • Steve B.

We didn't stay at the St Regis so this is only a quick in and out for lunch. First the location is absolutely beautiful, nooked between the mountain, river inlet and ocean it has a spectacular view. Regarding the food the Cheese Burger was an excellent choice if you are in the mood for a burger, it was one of the best burgers I've had, nicely seasoned and cooked just right. You will pay extra here regardless it is the St Regis, really one of the better views we captured was here on our trip to Hawaii.

This bar next to the amazing pool is a great place to relax. There are plenty of comfortable large wooden chairs with thick cushions set up around the bar. Their is a TV above the bar that plays sports all day. I was able to set the TV to my favorite sports channel. The food is actually good. I had the quesadilla and their pizza here. The portions are not very big, just good enough for one person. The drinks are always good. Beer is served in a chilled glass and the Mai Tais are above average. Most drinks run around $15 each If you like, you can relax poolside and a server will come to your lounge chair and delivery your beverage or food there. I actually found the service poolside a little more attentive than at the bar. Kind of weird considering there was two severs at the bar. Overall, it was my favorite place to relax i the hotel. You just can't beat watching sports on a TV at the St Regis and having a beautiful view of Bali Hai over your shoulder!
