For us, vacations are just as much about awesome dining experiences as they are about seeing the sites. After reading many reviews I found few foodie type options in Kauai but eventually stumbled upon Kauai Ono. The farm/sea to table is a concept we love and all the ingredients are macro-locally sourced. The 5 courses we superb! We started off with whole prawns with garlic saffron butter, followed by a fresh kale salad, pan seared moonfish with Thai inspired noodles, pulled pork with a purple sweet potato, and a mango dessert to cap the night. You could taste the freshness in every bite. It's BYOB so plan accordingly. They provide ice bins to keep things cool. The servers where very friendly and knowledgeable on each dish. They have limited seatings so reservations are a must. We made ours 2 months in advance when we booked the trip but some of the folks sitting at our communal table made theirs earlier in the week. Earlier reviews mentioned bugs so we pre-sprayed with bug spray. But I'm not sure we needed it as bugs didn't seem to be a problem for us. Thanks Kauai Ono for a memorable night! Best of luck to you all and we hope to see you next time we're on the island.
Fantastic dining experience. We love the farm/sea to table concept and the fact they avoid ingredients not native to the island. Table was communal. It seems everybody there was from California, and folks were generous sharing their wine (next time we'd bring some bubbly, too). Dishes are relatively simple and straight-forward. Chef Justin began the evening with his philosophy, and each course was fully explained. Several of us lingered afterwards to chat. Dining is outdoors, under a tent. Gnats were a bit of an issue before the sun went down, but we were outdoors on a tropical island (we don't have many of those in Ohio and we still get bugs!). You can bring your own wine, or have it brought over from the wine shop in Princeville. You won't know the menu ahead of time (which is part of the charm) so select your wine accordingly. Servers were friendly, prompt, and unobtrusive. They prefer cash, and most folks complied with that. Overall, a great experience that is well worth doing.
Justin Kauai Ono is the mad scientist of food. The bottom line is that his food is incredibly tasty. We hired Justin to cater our 70-person wedding because we were looking for something different from the predictable wedding food or hotel food. He is a well-trained chef with a diverse background and his inventive, creative dishes reflect this. We discussed a general layout for the menu far in advance, but trusted Justin to roll with our themes based on what was in season and locally available at the time of our wedding. We trusted that whatever he created would be delicious and well thought out, and Justin totally nailed it! Every dish he made from the apps to the mains was incredible, and we had so many high compliments from our guests about the deliciousness of food, the simple yet elegant presentation, and the refreshing variety. In terms of customer service, Justin delivered exactly as promised. He showed up on time, the food rolled out in perfect succession at the right moments, and there were no surprises with the bill. We plan to hire Justin for any future catering needs while in Kauai.

Ate dinner here last night and it was great! No less than four people tried to seat us while we waited for table for 8. Service was attentive and our pizzas were excellent. I had the Rooster and loved it. The kids shared a small, which worked perfectly for an 8 and 2 x 12 year olds. Parking was difficult because it was so dark (after 7:30 pm). It was warm inside but not unbearable. May eat there again before we leave Princeville.
The pizza is really good. Especially if you are gluten free (best gluten free dough on the north shore). My only concern was with the bug issue. When we sat down, we were immediately covered in mosquitos. The staff didn't seem that concerned. We got up and asked for our pizzas to go. After our experience, I would only recommend that people get food to go and save yourself the annoying mosquitos bites that will remind you of your dinner for the remainder of your vacation.
What an experience. Pizza was ok, service was mediocre at best. We had a group of 7 and sat in the corner booth. We were immediately greeted by dozens of gnats and/or mosquitos flying over our table. When we told the server he said "yea we leave the windows open so they are pretty much everywhere because it's so humid and hot". We decided to each get a beer and order our pizza to go after getting bit 4 or 5 times. After all was said and done we felt like we got ripped off. We each had 1 beer and ordered 2 large pizzas to go. Our bill was $123 with a nice 15% tip came out to $147 total. So $21 a person. When we got home it turns out each person got 2 slices of pizza. $21 for 2 slices of pizza and a beer?! That's insane. On the mainland I could get a whole large pizza and a beer to myself for that. Overall the food was ok, the prices were too high and the bug problem was the worst. Disappointed after reading other reviews.

We had excellent service and food. The salad was delicious. The hamburger was large and tasty. The chicken was excellent. We had a blonde this waitress who had great suggestions and provided excellent service. It is a little pricey, but we expect that at the St. Regis.
A great pool bar. It's that simple. We had a great time here. Made some cool friends, had great service and listened to live music when a local band was rehearsing at the bar. Drinks were great and the burgers were spot on. TV's had the games playing. Prices were a bit high but expected at a resort pool bar. Still cheaper than Yankee Stadium. If you are visiting the St. Regis during the day, this is the place to hang.
What an expierence. Arrived 4:45 and noticed waitress was picking up all menus and silverware. The bar was empty and we asked if we could sit at a table and bartender said it was fine (Tables Dirty). The waitress took awhile to come by and she actually asked us if we were going to go to bar to get drinks or if we wanted her to help us. So now she had to depart to get the menu's since she had taken them off of the tables. In the mean time all of the tables had filled up as did the bar. She arrived back at our table and my wife ordered a glass of wine and I ordered a Mai Tai. In looking at the menu we realized the food service was to end at 5:30 and bar to close at 6? Our drinks arrived after awhile which I suspect was to try and have us avoid ordering food. My Mai Tai was all fruit juice to the point I could have given to the child at the next table. My wife's wine glass had lip stick on it and she the glass smelled like garlic. We noticed the waitress going around tables to reminding everyone that they better order drinks now or it will be too late. With us she just dropped off our bill without even assuming we might want another drink but since our service and drinks were the worst I think not. The worst Mai Tai ever! We went to Bar Acuda and I was served one of the best Mai Tai's (Kona Inn Big Island being the best and Merriman's Maui second). Hey and my wife's wine glass we clean!
