L&L Hawaiian Barbecue Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Just average, nothing to write home about, but not bad. Would eat again if I was in class in area and needed lunch variety, but would not seek out.

I don't normally eat at L&L but a friend wanted to go here. Now I remember why I don't eat here. Not sure what the big attraction is. I paid $8. for a stew bowl that had 2 large chunks of carrot, 2 large chunks of potato, about 4 or so chunks of dry chewy meat, a pile of rice and gravy that didn't have much flavor. It wasn't bad but it sure wasn't good and for the price I could have eaten siamin at mcdonalds for a lot less and been just as satisfied.

Prices are high for minis and even higher for the regular plate. I can see if the quality of food was better than I would understand the higher prices but the food is ok. I wish this place would serve the Chinese food for longer hours.

I've been here multiple times since my first review as I said I would and things have definitely changed! I regularly order a mini loco moco with a sunny side egg and extra gravy and let me tell you, they definitely improved from the first time I had it. Their beef patty has more flavor and they don't skimp on the gravy, which tastes good as well. I like their mac salad as well. Always been a big fan of mayonnaise! Guess that's a personal problem, haha! Also, on a previous visit, I ordered their cold ginger chicken, and the ginger sauce was delicious! Wish they gave more! The food comes out pretty quick and service is friendly. The ladies that work in the front get the job done! Thank you L&L! You definitely changed for the better! I'll keep coming back if you continue to deliver!

Not a bad place for local kind grinds but can be hit or miss on service. Have had quick service and rather lengthy too. Recommend calling order in and avoiding a wait. Menu is huge and a little overwhelming. Have asked for modification or substitution and denied. Saimin Burger, novel concept, decent execution, will only get the once I tried , not a favorite.

This review will be specifically for the Saimin Burger. The 1-star rating should be a precursor to what is ahead. The Ramen Burger craze brought this Saimin Burger idea to L&L. I wish it didn't! Apparently, L&L uses its saimin noodles from the same company (Sun Noodles) as the ramen burger creators, but saimin and ramen are totally different noodles! Saimin is more dense and more thicker than the ramen noodles, which is exactly how the saimin "bun" felt like during the consumption of this burger. Not only that, the saimin had zero taste, and all you tasted was the oil it was pan-fried in. The burger patty was a thin, sad piece of beef that had no beef taste, any char, or salt crust. It was similar to a McDonald's hamburger patty. The saimin "buns" were thicker! The sauce was confusing to me. It seemed like it wanted to be a teriyaki sauce, but switched to an oyster sauce, then changed to a yakisoba sauce, and it just became this odd brown gravy mess. The taste was strange, and it did not add anything to the burger other than a weird salty taste. The other accompaniments in the burger were some chopped green onions, and a few strands of lettuce. There were so little of both that you couldn't even tell they were in there in the first place! Overall, this was a mess of a burger. It was basically eating a hamburger patty with strange sauce in between two bigger and denser saimin patties that had no taste besides the oil it was pan-fried in. At $5.95, you are getting mightily ripped off. A mini-plate of anything is way better than this awful saimin burger. It's obvious L&L rushed this saimin burger out into the public because of the ramen burger craze, which wasn't even a craze to begin with. This is exactly similar to the Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks situation: he was receiving major hype from the media, and L&L created the "Lin-Katsu." Where is that now?

Horrible service. Myself and another guy got here at 8:50pm on a Wednesday. The place doesn't close for another 10 minutes and we both get turned away because they are closed! But the sign clearly says Hours Monday - Friday 9am - 9pm. And as I'm writing this review another 2 people walk in and get turned away. Talk about lazy chefs that don't want to make money I suppose. That's ok, I'll take my business elsewhere.

The young lady was rude and needs to be properly trained on how to say hi or bye, or F U or something! She doesn't say anything to me when I step up...Ummm okay....So I say do you have kalua pig and cabbage...She says yes with an attitude... Can I get that with fried rice? Ummmm, I don't know, let me ask...She goes to the back...Comes out and says yes... Cool, I'll take the bowl please with fried rice.... The food was good but COLD....After reading the entire menu, I see the sign that says you can substitute fried rice for 75 cents but she charged me $1.25... I can't lie, I'll go back because I love the pig and fried rice and its hard to find since lots of places don't have it as a daily dish.

Gave this franchise a 2nd try. First time calling in for a take out beef broccoli and eggplant combo. When I got home the egg plant was cold and portions were very "skimpy". so my second try at this rest. was another take out order for dinner. Called a beef broccoli plate. The lady said one choice? Yes, I replied. When I got there, this time I open the plate to only see a very small portion of beef broccoli in the (salad section) and two big scoops of rice in the main dish section. And they wanted to charge me full price? I will not give this place a third try ! Very poor service and no quality control. Rather go to pandas or Mauka Chinese rest.

This is the most slowest and un friendly l&l there is. You ask them for toss salad and you get a piece of lettuce with a tomatoe wth is that?the topping for a burger???? The young girl that works the register needs a slap in her face. She has the most ugliest sassiest face ever and on top of that the portions here are a rip off compared to pearl citys l&l (my fav). Even if you phone order you still come in and wait another 20 minutes. And i have gotten food sickness after eating a shrimp curry here. I recommend to take the drive to pearl citys by wal mart.

Second visit to this location, everyone knows whats what with L & L. This one though the food is below even L & L's standards IMO. First visit they weren't able to serve the chicken cake noodle on the menu because they were "too busy?" Second try, got the cake noodles and it's utterly tasteless. Also got a chicken cutlet plate, all rice gravy all over, (typical local boy order.) Rice was obviously old as it had a crunch to it, the chicken and gravy had no taste. While it is more convenient to stop by here on my way home, I think if I want some L & L I'll be heading to the Mililani Marketplace location instead.

  • Leon H.

First off this location is very clean and more chinese style inside. The location is in good quiet location. I don't want to be overly critical but the Service was not happy and nice. I walked in to a Korean lady that was in appropriately dressed and didn't say hi.. she looked like part owner. The food was another issue, the bbq sauce was the same for all the meats... the teri meat was over cooked, the kalbi bbq was not up to par. The chicken was good but tasted like the same bbq as everything else. I hope they can improve their food because this is a great location.

I gave this place three tries before I decided to write a review. My first visit was pretty alright. I ordered a Loco Moco, all rice, and the wait was pretty short considering it was 10:00 in the morning. It tasted okay. Just an average Loco Moco, nothing special about it. The second time I came, I ordered the same thing- Loco Moco (all rice). Pretty simple right? Again, wait time was pretty short. When I got my food this time, I noticed there was some mac salad. I guess the cooks accidentally added mac salad and removed it after realizing this order consisted of rice only. Or should I say CARELESSLY removed it. If you're going to make a mistake like that, at least try your best not to leave any trace of it behind. There was a pretty sizable amount of mac salad still on my plate. I know, it's not a big deal, but I absolutely hate mac salad and I do not like the taste of it on my rice or on the meat. But I figure it was just a small error. No big deal. The third time, I ordered the same thing, again. I'm very consistent when it comes to what I order at places. This time, I called in a phone order. I specifically said all rice, and the girl taking my order repeated it back to me, "Regular Loco Moco, all rice." I thought, okay, we're on the same page. When I picked up my food and brought it home, low and behold, a nice big scoop of mac salad! How hard is it to withhold the mac salad? Really, a simple request. So simple. All in all, I'm disappointed with this L&L. I've eaten at many different L&Ls and they were always able to get my order right. Waianae, Ward, lower Mililani, not a problem. However, the customer service is alright. I give them that. I just hope they fix their small errors because even if they're small, if the same errors continue, they become rather annoying.

Very slow service forgot all about my order mini chicken katsu . No communication between cook and counter ladies, your food just sits there waiting to be picked up. Now flavor in Katsu sauce there is none, also tried a mini Hamburger steak a week ago. gravy also has no taste looks just like white corn starch gravy, flavor less come on cooks, taste what you make. will not purchase another plate from them.....

  • Kiva Y.

$1.25 for brown rice? Really? Zippy's doesn't charge extra for brown rice; neither does the L & L in Pearl Ridge. Geez. The food - ordered the teri-beef plate - it was okay, and the teri-sauce was more salty than sweet, and they don't cut or shred the meat into smaller slices like the Pearl Ridge location does; and the PR location's sauce is more sweet than salty.

The food is awesome just what I expect from a local plate. I love their bbq chicken and their garlic shrimp. If you try their garlic shrimp, you don't have to drive to Kahuku for Giovanni's shrimp truck. It is cheaper and more tasty. This L&L also have the chinese food counter which provide more variety than any other L&L's. Keep it up and definitely going back again for more shrimp and their grill mahi. Yummy!!

So good I had to yelp immediately! Good location, fast and friendly service, and the food is top notch!! I called in a phone order at about 750pm, arrived there at maybe 755pm and was out of there by 8 or so. We ordered cold Ginger chicken plate and a chicken katsu plate all rice. Everything exactly as expected. Two plates packed snugly in a plastic bag with lots of napkins, two forks and our sauces secured in plastic containers. The klutz I am, dropped both sauces twice and they held up fine lol. Open up my chicken katsu plate and it was LOADED! Even the bf couldn't get enough they tasted so good and super crispy. So with him snatching from my plate, my 3 kids filling their mouths, and me stuffing myself til I can't breath... there is still chicken and rice left on the plate as I type. Amazing if you ask me. It was enough katsu on my plate for me to consider it a small party platter =] I didn't even get a chance to try the bfs food so that is all I have to say haha. But I won't forget to mention the fact that I only paid a little over $15 for both our plates. This place will definitely be one of my faves from now on

This L&L was our first experience with them, and unfortunately, we will never again venture into one of the L&L Restaurants ever again. Service was incredibly rude, and I do mean incredibly. The food was sub-par, at best--- flavorless, greasy, not fresh... But then, I discovered a thick black hair in my macaroni salad. My son then also pulled a black hair from his orange chicken. We were disgusted, and will not be back.

This review is specifically for the chicken curry katsu. I'm giving it five stars because it was delicious, hot, and my to go box was filled to the brim. It also came with a side of macaroni salad which was equally as good. We waited less than 10 min for our order. My husband ordered a cheese burger with egg and he said it was good. So I'll be returning to try the rest of their menu!

We have been here many times and I have this complaint. We have come for dinner many times at 8:00pm and we know they close at 9:00pm. We'll sit inside and eat and before 8:30pm they'll be cleaning around us like they're closed already. I don't enjoy smelling cleaning sprays and seeing bags of trash being dragged next to me while I'm eating. They've done this too many times that I can't go without saying something. If you don't want to pay your employees to work past closing time, then you should stay and clean up yourself after you lock the doors at 9:00pm.

My dad just went today to get his dinner to go. Went home, opened the box and a fly flew out!! NASTY!! So my dad went back to see if they could correct it and instead of fixing the issue, they just gave him a refund and not even an APOLOGY. This place got bad manners, service, and now fly infested food. I've been to many L & L locations and this one is pretty bad. Good thing there are other choices to eat around them because I would choose any of them in a heartbeat.

  • Kama A.

Came here as a last minute dinner choice and ordered a regular chicken Katsu plate ($7.99). The Katsu sucked and had 70% Katsu and 30% chicken. Dry, tuff, and bleh. Both the Mac salad and Katsu sauce has no taste...totally forgettable. Plate took 10mins to he ready and when I asked for extra Katsu sauce she said $.69 and didn't say please or make eye contact. I just walked out. This l&l Hawaiian BBQ sucks. Save yo $$$.

    (2)
  • Camille B.

The first time I went here my chicken Katsu was good, but the brown rice was hard and grainy. My boyfriend got the "cold" ginger chicken, but it was piping hot when he got it. Today I decided to try their Kalua Pork and cabbage and I was greatly disappointed. The Kalua Pork by itself is okay, but the cabbage was barely cooked.. practically raw.. Very disappointing.

    (2)
  • Greg L.

I ordered the bbq chicken bowl since it reminds me of Yoshinoya (probably not a coincidence) and for less than $6 it's a good, quick meal. I notice this location seems to use a good variety of fresh vegetables, at least the day I went. The Pearlridge Mall location clearly uses frozen mixed veggies like the kind you buy from Costco (the yellow squash slices and cauliflower make it a dead giveaway). I would return for this particular meal set as long as they continue to use fresh veggies and provide a good portion of protein.
