My family and I always come here since they have a convenient location and can accommodate large groups. Ginger House is one of the cleaner and tastier Chinese Restaurants I've been to. Their restaurant is pretty well kept and not too cramped like other restaurants can be. The ambience is pretty typical of a normal Chinese dine-in restaurant.. Casual, family-friendly, average noise. Typical circle tables with the lazy susan in the middle.. Fits about 8ish people comfortably. Their food is always yummy!! My family loves their crispy gau gee and shrimp canton. My personal favorite is the Honey Walnut Shrimp!!! What I really love about Ginger House is the size of the shrimp that they use. These are by far the largest battered shrimp I've ever had and they taste delicious!! Plus they don't try to make it look bigger with extra batter.. the size is really the shrimp meat! Noms!! You may want to make a reservation because they tend to get busy around holidays and dinner time.. You can always do take out but the workers are definitely nicer to the dine-in customers...

i have roast duck on rice (lunch plate) for almost $12.00 today and i'm very disappointed for what i got.. one small scope of rice with choy sum, the roast duck was too dry and so dark in color not because of food coloring, i think they have re-heat a few times before.. I think this is the only Chinese restaurant that don't give you complementary hot tea but if you need one, it will cost you $1.00 more My wife has fried rice with oyster sauce chicken (lunch plate) and she's not happy with her tasteless fried rice. . We are from mililani, but i think they will not see us again eating there.. Service is ok

I don't know how rice with egg is classified as fried rice. Where's the vegetable??? The pot stickers were barely like warm, and the Mongolian beef tasted like it used the sweet and sour sauce as a base and they only added spice to it. I've never been anywhere that gives you a pot of tea but charges per person. We won't be going back, big disappointment.

I give 5 stars because my husband and I have been going to Ginger House for about a year now and we have never had anything other than excellent food and service. Everything is always fresh and hot and the facility is clean. Keep up the good work :)

Pretty good for your average Chinese restaurant (3 1/2 stars). You can find your average Chinese fare here - nothing that really sticks out. Flavors are good and prices are a tad higher than your typical Chinese restaurant. Their lunch specials are pretty good considering they are a "complete" meal. They come with 2 potstickers. When I went, the ladies were filling these in the back, so you know they are made in-house (although probably pre-cooked). I ordered the steammed fish with vegetables for $8.90. Along with the potstickers you can also choose soup or soda (never heard of this one before) as well as white or fried rice. They really should call it "egg rice" because it's just rice with an egg fried up in it and maybe some seasoning. I think they do themselves a disservice by saying this is "fried rice" because if people think this is how their actual fried rice is, I doubt you'd ever order it. The steammed fish was simply cooked in a light sauce. The veggies inside included a few choi sum, carrots, water chestnut, baby corn and cabbage - nothing too exciting. I doused mine in shoyu/chili sauce anyway. I didn't get it but they have signs on each table that tea is $1 per person, which I find strange... isn't tea usually complimentary at Chinese restaurants?

This is the place I go to when I'm craving Chinese and don't want to drive very far... But don't get me wrong, this is one of my favorite places for Chinese food on the island... PERIOD!! Ginger House is a family-style, sit-down Chinese restaurant. There's an abundance of parking because it's located inside Mililani Town Center. It's right next to Just Tacos Mexican Grill & Cantina. The place looks like a typical Chinese restaurant, but very clean. I'm not saying that Chinese restaurants are typically dirty, I'm just saying that this one is very clean. LOL Literally, everything I've tried on the menu is really damn good!! Just some of my favorites... Honey Walnut Shrimp: Shrimp is cooked perfectly and not too greasy. Sauce is not too overpowering. Honey walnuts compliment this dish very well. An amazing dish overall!! Steamed Fish with Green Onions & Ginger: The flounder in this dish is cooked absolutely prefect... So soft and flaky, but doesn't break apart easily. Ong Choy with Beef & Ham Har Sauce: Not on the menu, but you can request this dish. The generous amount of Ham Har Sauce makes this dish so flavorful... Ong Choy is cooked perfectly, and the beef is so tender. My list of good food from their can go on and on... You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes here!! Everything is reasonably priced, and service is great!! And the best thing about it... It's only minutes from my house!! This is definitely my go-to place for great Chinese food!! I just wished they had Dim Sum!! LOL

We ordered our normal take-out order of minute chicken cake noodle only to find out WHEN WE PAID that they ran out of cake noodle and replaced it with some other noodles. They had our phone number and a half hour between our call and pick up; they could and should have called to inform us. Unbelievable. We said to call next time so we could cancel the order - if there is a next time.

Everything in the menu is awesome! Always come here for the steamed ginger fish and salt and pepper pork chops. The service is great to. Very friendly and proactive making sure your table is okay. Definitely recommend everyone to come here.

FRI, 7-10-15 at about 12:45 pm Nice, clean restaurant with pleasant employees and decent food. I ordered: Sauteed fish with ginger and onions: very tasty, maybe cut down on the amount of round onions Sweet Sour Spareribs: not bad, but I wouldn't order them again because the taste just wasn't to my liking Oyster chicken with cake noodles: very good, excellent quality cake noodles, chicken was a bit dry Honey Walnut Shrimp: nice, large shrimps, but I wouldn't order this again. Despite the great reviews for this particular dish, the batter is a bit too thick and tough. A bit too expensive to not be a perfect dish. Overall, Ginger House provides consistently good food and good service. Prices are very high for Mililani, but most of the dishes have been good. Aloha.

Don't waste your money. Worst Chinese food I ever ate. Tasteless, over battered, greasy and way over priced even if the food was decent.

Ginger House's preset menu for groups is not bad, we got the one with Chinese Chicken Salad, Crispy Gau Gee, Gon Lo Mein, Sweet n Sour Pork, Jumbo Shrimp, Crispy Chinese Chicken, Beef Broccoli, and either Tapioca pudding or Mango pudding. My faves were the Crispy Chinese Chicken and the Jumbo Shrimp. This place is perfect for group dinners, it was about $150 for 10 people. I just wish they switched the Gon Lo Mein for cake noodle or gravy style gaugee mein.

Ordered takeout and was informed there would be a 45 minute wait, 45 minutes later went to pickup and was told they ran out of food. Unbelievable! How does a restaurant run out of food?! If they couldn't fulfill our order they should have called.

Don't know when this place opened but wished I knew about this place sooner. I've only been here twice, but both times, I left full and happy. It's never too busy (well, when we went), and service is great (which is rare in Chinese restaurants mostly located town side). Our food came out pretty quick too (10 min for the first dish), and the time between each dish was only 3-5 min. My family wanted to go with the pre-set menu, which I was reluctant to do bc we weren't familiar with all the dishes and we can't substitute any of the items either. Buuut, I was glad we did. We got egg drop soup, pork chops, walnut shrimp, orange chicken, ginger fish, cake noodle with seafood, volcano beef, and more (but I forgot. Sorry!). Everything tasted great. My favorites were the pork chops, walnut shrimp, and ginger fish. The side veggies were also delicious. Oh, and it comes with dessert, either the tapioca or mango pudding. Mango pudding... on point! The price was very reasonable, too. I believe the pre-set menu was less than $100. So, it was about $15ish for each person. There's more than one pre-set menu to choose from as well. This place has become a family favorite in an instant. We'll surely be back soon :)

The service here was horrible! The waitress did not check on us, claimed to have only one diet coke. I will say the food was ok. They acted like they did not want our business, we will not be back!

Great service & food was great! We had Beef & Choi Sum Cake Noodle, Honey Walnut Shrimp, & Sweet Sour Spareribs. We each had a bowl of Jasmine rice. I never had the spareribs before & was pleasantly surprised. For Labor Day, it was not busy & we enjoyed ourselves.

This place is pretty good but I think it's pretty pricey compared to other Chinese joints. $17 for honey walnut shrimp, $12 lunch special, $1 for tea per person, $1 extra for cake noodle/look fun. Order the crispy gau gee mein with cake noodle....it's yummy!!!

The beef tenderloin is amazing. Best fried rice we've had to date on Oahu. The wait staff is super friendly and the restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Honestly I'm never that thrilled when my co-workers decide to have lunch here. It's not particularly bad or anything, just not terribly exciting. The food is average. I had one of the lunch specials. My plate consisted of oyster sauce chicken and fried rice. You can choose between a soup or salad. I always get the soup. It's always egg drop and a tad on the salty side, I think. They also give a couple dumplings with the specials. I'm sure they make them way in advance because they are pretty cold. All in all a decent experience for about $10.

Love the roast duck here!! Just watch out the noodles that you buy especially the seafood combo with cakes noodles, which is my favorite. Unfortunately it's the second time we found a worm in the dish after eating just about everything.

We have been eating here since 2009. They are the same owners since 2009. Still love their salt & pepper pork chop and steamed fish with ginger and green onion. Still the best Chinese food in Mililani!

  • Mili-Lani D.

NEW OWNER ALERT The previous owners had excellent food. They've been there for a long long time, probably opened it. When I went in I noticed a younger couple. They're very nice and enthusiastic. I like them. I got sweet/sour pork and ginger chicken, my staples. I've been ordering the same order for a long time. I was so disappointed that their ginger chicken was salty and bitter. It was awful. I threw it away.Bitter and salty not a good combo The pork was still as good as the older ones. I just hope this is growing pains as they get their act together. But beware. New owners = New cooks = Different recipe.

Best Chinese food I've had in a while! Honey walnut shrimp was perfect and used the real deal jumbo shrimp. Chinese beef tenderloin was a new addition to our usual Chinese restaurant order and it arrived sizzling and the meat was nice and tender. I was pleased to see that they didn't drown their shrimp canton in sweet n sour sauce, but instead had it on the side. And their minute chicken cake noodle wasn't hard but the soft-crispy that it's suppose to be. And I can't forget the hamhar ong choy. You could taste the real hamhar flavor. All in all, this is our new favorite Chinese restaurant. And we recommend everyone to come and experience it for themselves. You won't be disappointed :)

I hadn't been to a sit-down Chinese restaurant in a while (Panda Express doesn't count!), so I was looking forward to trying Ginger House. It's located in the Mililani Town Center across from Pricebusters. Around 5:00, there was only one other party in the restaurant, but it soon filled with other patrons and people ordering take-out. My party ordered several dishes, including sour soup, a fish dish, honey walnut shrimp, eggplant, pork chops, and minute chicken cake noodle. The soup came out first and was a great way to start the meal. I really liked the tang of it. Out of all the plates, my favorite was the honey walnut shrimp. I'd had it at other restaurants before, but this was by far, one of the best I've had. The shrimp pieces were huge and they were generous with the sauce. I also enjoyed the eggplant dish. I liked how they accommodated my friends with children by giving them both high chairs, along with their own kid plates and cups. Water and tea were also constantly refilled. I would definitely go back again. It's convenient for me and it wasn't overly crowded.

Complaining about the service and the language barrier at a Chinese restaurant is like complaining about the heat in the desert. With the exception of this place. The service here is great! The staff is always friendly and I've always been greeted warmly as soon as I enter the place. Now for the food; best honey walnut shrimp IMO, and the steam ginger fish will make your day! The roast duck is also very flavorful. And you have to try the sizzling beef! I highly recommend this place.

All of their food is so great. The Honey Walnut Shrimp is amazing. The Saigon Noodles are really tasty as well. This place is surprisingly inexpensive. It is a must try if you are in Miliani.

The food is pretty good here. Tried the sizzling steak with onions, steamed fish with green onions and ginger, seafood crispy noodle and choy sum with oyster sauce. The steak was very tender and tasty. Food here is pretty good but a bit salty in my opinion.

dined in twice, for me mililani is a far drive... anyway, seen a special on their specials board. Honey Garlic Chicken, wow... it was a winner. not the kind of chicken that is heavily battered and deep fried.. most of the skin was removed... marinated and cooked to perfection. My dad liked it so much, he kept raving about it to our relatives. Singapore rice noodles were awesome and a generous amount. Roast Duck could have used a little more seasoning but skin was crispy. if you are in the Mililani shopping center area. it's a must try if you like Chinese food. Who doesn't like Chinese food?

Little local Chinese restaurant. Always nice smiles from the wait staff and very efficient. Try the Volcano beef it is great. Also pot stickers are made when you order them really good.

  • Val D.

The only decent chinese restaurant in the leeward side. Same kind of taste as in chinatown, but pricier. I can't rate the service because we ordered take out: Cold Ginger chicken - 3 stars - chicken is ok and ginger sauce is tasty, but not enough ginger sauce. Ginger onion fish - for $12, the fish is fresh, but the size of the order is the same as any other restaurant that sells this for a little less. I'd order from this restaurant again only if I don't feel like going to downtown to eat because although the food is the decent, it's much pricier.

I don't like Chinese food or restaurants, but I tell you... I make exceptions for this place. Great food and ambiance.

  • Kimberly S.

In Mililani this chinese restaurant is the best for chinese food. My family, friends and I have been dining here for 9 years. Ginger House truly has the best pot stickers around, the ingredients are so fresh being made with chicken and veggies. Its not greasy and has a wonderful flavor to it instead of pork. The pot stickers are refreshing plus there is a great dipping sauce. My families favorite is the beef volcano. A must to check out. Update: On the corner straight down from the Ginger House a Panda Express is is going in, it will be interesting to see what happens between the two!

I've walked by this place a million times. I'm sorry to say the best part of the experience was our entrance. We were greeted upon entrance and seated. We made our order and despite being the only ones in the restaurant we sat for quite a while. The orange chicken and garlic honey chicken were rather bland and on below par in comparison to Panda Express or Manchu Wok which is kind of disappointing. For a price just a little too high there's just a little too little given.

When it comes to great tasting, authentic Chinese food, I play follow the leader with my Aunty Judy. Aunty's a serious cook and knows her food... 'Especially Chinese food! 'She leads, I follow... 'With chopsticks in hand!... 'And a big appetite!! Aunty Judy knows the staff pretty well, the head chef is from Hong Kong. The restaurant itself is rather spacious, can easily accommodate 75 - 100 people. It's well lit and clean. Where to begin?... It was my last lunch on the aina before I had to head back to the mainland, ono food, great company, good fun! There were six in our party and we had a pretty decent size spread of plates laid across the table. (See uploaded photos) I wish I had paid more attention to what was ordered but I was too distracted by the amazingness of all the ono kine food! Everything was good, broke da mout'! Several times!! That's just not a broad blanketed statement so that I don't have to go into a thorough review... It's the truth! Anyone familiar with my reviews, know that having a lack of things to say is not a problem I have. 8) The one dish that I remember with great joy was the Kau Yuk!(Pot Roast Pork) You know how unhealthy it is by how amazing it tastes!! You enjoy it with Chinese buns, the same ones used for Char Siu Bao.(Steamed Pork Buns) It's sort of like a Chinese Sloppy Joe, it's the "Sloppy Cho!" Kau Yuk: Great! Oooooooo'noooo!! (Good!!) Cold Ginger Chicken: Very good; great flavor Salt & Pepper Calamari: Very good Sweet & Sour Pork: Very good Salt & Pepper Pork Chop: Great! Tofu w/Bok Choy(I can't remember the "real name" but that's what I'm sticking with!): Very good; tasty *There were a few other dishes that were ordered but as I mentioned before... I was too distracted by all the "amazingness!" (See uploaded photos for all of the above dishes) I was able to find an older menu online that I uploaded to photos as well. - Nov 2008 *It may not have current pricing but you can at least see what they offer. (Well, if you can "see" the small-ass type.) 8/ I know there are a mixed amount of yelp*views and so maybe Ginger House doesn't excel in all areas but for being my first time here, "Ono'licious!" I'd suggest possibly coming here with someone that knows the menu. Otherwise, you can skim the yelp*views, take a few notes, and "GEEV'UM!" Mahalo Aunty, Uncle, & the rest of the o'hana for a great lunch w/plenty Aloha! - Big Aloha! Food: 5 Ambiance: 3+ Service: 4 Value: 5

Hey Ginger, who's your realtor? Tell them to write up a sublease because I want to move in right now so I won't be too far from excellent Chinese food. I hope the furniture and food is included in the listing because they are just my style: great for families to share and tons of flavor. When we plan my house warming party, I want some Gon Lo Mein, Crispy Gau Gee Mein, Crispy Gau Gee, Honey Garlic Chicken, Boneless Chicken in Black Bean Sauce, Beef With Broccoli, Roast Duck, Tea, Potstickers, and a whole lotta people. Loud Jolly Chinese people! By the way Ginger, I love what you've done with the lunch specials. They're getting better and better! Actually making MTC a destination. I just don't know how you deal with the Mexican Bar next door, don't they get pretty roudy? Oh you love your neighbors? Then I do too! Maybe we can do a little fusion potluck cookoff kinda thing?

Honey walnut shrimp is amazing! The service is really good when eating inside the restaurant, and it's also really easy to order take-out. I've never waited to pick up my take-out or waited long to get my food while dining in.

Came here 3 nights ago and decided to eat in since they weren't busy and we didn't feel rushed at all. I agree with many of the reviews where the service was good. The ladies were really nice and accommodating, especially to toddlers (they provide a special kid's bowl, spoon and cup for water, which entertained my daughter for a bit while we waited for our food). Maybe I'm spoiled by the food in town and Chinatown, maybe I had high expectations because I'm Chinese and although I haven't had the best, I have had Chinese food where I would definitely go back for. Sadly, I probably wouldn't come back here no matter how close it is to where I live :( This place, not sure if it was an off-night or what... but the mushrooms were canned and definitely not fresh. The beef chow funn had more onions and bean sprouts than the funn itself...and it was bland. I could make better just with the dark shoyu ingredient alone. Mabo tofu was ok, but it doesn't beat my dad's cooking. Even my husband, who isn't even Chinese, didn't care for this place. You can judge a lot by a Chinese restaurant by their chow funn... it's kind of hard to mess up. Everything else we had was honestly, just o-k. Their menu had good options which makes you know that it's kind of like an authentic Chinese restaurant, but the quality just isn't there. Their cake noodle, however, was pretty tasty. I'll say that much. I really tried to like this place... but there's better tasting quality Chinese food elsewhere not in this area (I'm not talking about Panda Express- I'm talking about REAL authentic Chinese food).... Sad that I still have yet to find a place around Mililani to eat some actual good Chinese food. Overall, a lot of the food here is over-priced and not really worth it.

I think I was too mean on my last review. I say this because for the food I've had in the past, it's always been delicious. I think I was unhappy with all that was wrong with that day's situation and wrote accordingly. I will return to them again someday and give them another chance. I give them 4-Stars above because for the food we had, it was delicious. Thank you.

I want to give this place a 3.5, but cant so I'll stick with A-OK. Yesterday was the third time that I have had food from here, but the first time I ate in. The service was fantastic! 5 Stars. The waitress was kind and knowledgeable. She took our order and left us alone. Our cups were never empty and we were well taken care without any awkward small talk. The food was ready in about ten minutes. The meats were great! someone got the "volcano beef", delicious! Others got pork, chicken, and fish. All very good. We ordered a noodle dish and it was incredibly bland. I ended up putting salt and pepper on them, but it just was not good. Anyway, Ginger House is a fairly safe bet for decent Chinese food. I don't know if anyone would say it's the best (I doubt it) but its acceptable and like I said the meats were good. Thank you Ginger House for the nice meal, I will be back, eventually.....

First time here, portions were very small and it doesn't come with rice. The service was poor, & unfriendly, it was like we and the other tables were being rushed, all they wanted was there tip... roaches crawling on the floor, we sat by the bathroom hall way. The S&S spareribs were dry and vinegary and the other dishes had so much msg it made us so thirsty afterwards, We won't be going back to this place. I think when the first timer's goes there they don't return....Zippys is right around the corner..... way better than this place.....

I normally am not a big Chinese food fan, but I absolutely love the food at this restaurant. The flavors here really compliment each other. For example, we ordered honey garlic chicken. You would think that combination sounds a littlr bit weird, but it was delicious. The gaugee was also very impressive. It was not your ordinary tasting gaugee that you would expect. The best dish that I have eaten here so far is the steamed ginger fish. I do not like ginger, but this was delicious. 5 stars, highly recommend.

We came here for my Grandma's surprise birthday dinner. We chose this restaurant because it was the most affordable and the closest for all of us to get to (since most of us live in Wahiawa). I had eaten here once before, but didn't really know what to expect. The staff was very accommodating, and let us bring in our own cupcakes and decorations. They even held the cupcakes in the back for us while we ate. The food came out pretty quickly, and all the dishes were delicious. I especially like the chinese chicken salad and the salt & pepper shrimp (which were HUGE). We also got chow mein, sweet & sour pork, beef broccoli. For dessert we could pick either mango pudding or tapioca. I chose the mango pudding, since that's my favorite. This was one of the best Chinese dinners I've had out on this side!

I ordered two items that have been mentioned by many others: Volcano Beef and the Honey Walnut Shrimp. I've never had Volcano Beef before but I found it to be mushy, peppery, and somewhat gritty in texture. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was ok. I found it to have a lot of batter and air so it looks like the shrimp are huge when in fact they are just medium sized shrimp. Flavor was as expected but wasn't the best I've ever had. The breading is just too much and is oily. I also wasn't expecting the high prices since I couldn't find a menu. These two dishes cost about $40 total. Oh, and the dishes do not come with rice. I will never dine here again.

Today, my command made a food run to Ginger House Chinese Restaurant. This was our first time eating there and, after reading yelp, we thought that this would be a higher quality/more authentic Chinese food experience. Sadly, that was not the case. A few people in my division took two bites and then started a Maui Mikes run because they could not finish their food. Another person ordered beef fried rice and they added ground beef? Chinese/Mex? ^^; As for my food, I ordered the Beef Choi Sum with Cake Noodles. Honestly, it wasn't that bad but the cake rice was a bit overcooked. The vegetables tasted fresh and the beef was tasty. However, the gyoza tasted microwaved. One of the pieces could have used a few more minutes. ^^; Also, I ordered Gau Gee side and they were served in a paper bag which had grease soaking through. These were cooked perhaps too long because they were extra crunchy. The prices are a bit high for what you were getting (to say the least) and the service was a little intense. I felt like I was bothering them by placing an order. Also, they did not accept cards on military food runs. We had to pay cash only. When all was said and done, out of 8 orders, most were thrown out or picked through and several people told me how bad it was. Needless to say, we will go elsewhere next time.

We just had my grandma's 79th birthday party here. We had about 60 guests and were able to customize our menu the way we wanted! We've had many family gatherings at other restaurants over the years, but this had to be the BEST experience ever! At chinese restaurants, there's usually a rotating platform (lazy susan) so that the tables can enjoy their meal "family style." The problem we had with other restaurants, is we run out of room on the platform as they bring out all these big plates! Ginger House Staff was very quick to unload the food onto smaller plates so that we wouldn't be crowded or have a hard time turning the platform. All the food was fresh and tasty! Our guests were so happy with the turnout of the menu and Grandma (the birthday girl) was so proud of the great job the staff did! **btw the HONEY WALNUT SHRIMP IS HUGE!! They use bigger size shrimp than most places and the flavor is just.. amazing!! The staff was quick at helping us in any way possible and so friendly to all our guests! At all times were our waters filled and enough napkins provided, even for the children. My boyfriend and I like to eat here, whether its dine in or take out, but a lot of our guests haven't been here before. Everyone said they will be back! Thank you Ginger House for helping us make grandma's birthday the best yet!

We order Hong Kong Style Crispy Fried Chicken, Steamed Fish with Green onions and ginger and Szechuan Eggplant with Beef. The food was delicious! We opted for take out rather than dining in. The restaurant is small but looked clean. I would recommend this restaurant for any who likes Chinese dishes. We can't wait to try the other dishes.

It's a shame because this place was delicious (the dish I got anyway). My husband didn't even get to have his meal by the time my dish came out and we finished it. Slow service but like I said it's a shame because the beef with snow peas was good.

My parents love coming here for "special occasions", and the impromptu family reunion was as good a reason as any to gather together and eat at Ginger House. The restaurant is usually quite busy, so you might have to wait for a while for seats, but once you're seated, it's a good dining experience. We typically order from the preset dinner menus for groups, and this time was no exception - we chose from one of the "Dinners for 10". I might forget an item here and there, but here was our menu: - Chinese Chicken Salad - Crispy Gau Gee (10 pcs) - Gon Lo Mein (almost like chow mein, but the noodles had a little more substance, kind of like a ramen noodle) - Jumbo Shrimp - Sweet & Sour Pork - Beef w/Broccoli - Chinese Crispy Chicken Add-ons (b/c my dad has a tendency to over order ALL THE TIME): - Egg Flower Soup - Choi Sum with Oyster Sauce We all loved it. Aside from the Gon Lo Mein having a lot of veggies (more so than noodles, it seemed), no complaints at all. There was a mini-debate on whether the chicken was duck or chicken, but it tasted good. Some of my relatives didn't care for the jasmine rice, but hey - more for me. I had WAY too many rice bowls piled up next to me by the end of the meal. Drawbacks: may have to wait for seating, especially during the busy meal hours, prices somehwat high (for Chinese food) Positives: clean/comfortable dining experience, good service, a LOT of food gets served All in all, a good experience, and I'm definitely looking forward to going back the next time someone has a birthday/celebration/excuse for Chinese food.

Service was horrible and the manager was incapable. I went there to eat dinner for Chinese New Year. I called to make a reservation. They said they weren't taking reservations and that it's first come first serve. When I got there I saw people being seated that came after me. So I asked where I was on the list. The lady said that those people that were being seated ahead of me made reservations. WHAT!? That was the beginning of a bad experience. When my wife and I were finally seated, we got this really tiny table. I thought it was cozy but a bit small. I ordered only three dishes as the main course and I had ordered appetizers. They all came at the same time. I literally did not have room on the small table to put my plate down. Holding my plate in my hand, I looked at the waitress and I told her to please take one of the dishes away while we eat the appetizer so that we can make some room. The waitress acted angry and said, "You ordered this food!" Yeah, I know I ordered the food, but you can see that we don't have room. Take it away and bring it back when we're done eat some of the other dishes. I can't even put my plate down. She walked away looking confused and quite upset. The manager looked over at us with a look of "I hope I don't have to get involved" look. The waitress came back. "We don't have room. You want it or not?" So I told her to give it away, but I'm not paying for it. I tried my best to eat as fast as I could. After that diatribe between the waitress and I, it seemed like she refused to come and refill our waters. I was glad to eat and go. I suspect this review won't matter in a sea of reviews... but if you're looking for a place to eat and you suspect that it might be crowded... don't go to this place.

Once my pops said we was taking my grandma out to dinner, I knew what we was eating and where. Chinese food and the place, where else but Ginger House. This place went through so many owners, names, themes, menus, etc. it was hard to keep up. Along with all those changes, I also had many memories. I remember this restaurant as the place I ran into my football coach the day me and a couple of friends decide to cut school. "Valenzuela! Double laps tomorrow, you got it?" "Yes, coach..." I answered, knowing I was caught. It was a different name then and the setting was total opposites compared to its present stage. The setting is much nicer, cleaner and "feng shui-ed' compared to my days in high school. Then, it was more a Takeout, styrofoam plate and paper napkin, manapua type of place. Now, its ala carte, porcelain china, napkin over your lap, "where's the manapua?" restaurant. A must order with my fam, roast duck. I love duck. I don't care if its boney, with little meat. Have you every tasted duck? Its one of those dishes where you can't have enough of. A dish where you keep eating it even when you are full just so you can taste it again. Yes, duck, I love your delicious flesh. I have never had a bad roast duck. Its consistent everywhere. We also ordered some noodles. Wish I remembered what its name was just so I can Yelp about. Yeah, to me, noodles are forget-able. I ate around the noodles. I just took the shrimp and char siu. Schezuan eggplant was another dish we ordered. I love this dish but it taste just like every other Schezuan eggplant. A big hit was the salt and pepper calamari. What was weird was the fact that it wasn't part of the ala carte section. It was listed as appetizers. And the amount was just tad bit more than the other ala carte dishes. It was simple, look and tasted similar to shrimp canton, but instead of shrimp, it was calamari. Get it? I had to read that sentence twice just so it made sense. After dinner, we asked for pot of tea. I love tea. Especially after a heavy meal. I like it better than coffee. My grandma has a sweet tooth so we ordered around of mango pudding. I love everything about mango. It my favorite fruit. It was light. My mom had to say it looked like cheese. I looked at it. It kinda did. That turned me off a little. Still didn't stop me from polishing the bottom of that dessert dish! Its not often I get to eat with my family, so every time we do, I have a great time.

Really clean place. Food is a little pricey, but it's in the Town Center, soo... They get really busy on Sundays.

I am upping my previous rating to 5 stars because after not going to this Restaurant for what I thought was a long time (Probably more like 3 weeks) they still remember my order. I walked in during lunch hour and it was pretty crowded. The waitress sees me and waves. ME: Ni hao! HER: Ni hao ma? ME: Wo hun hao, xie xie. (this is pretty much the end of my Mandarin) HER: chicken fried rice to go right? ME: yes that's right and shrimp balls please. HER: Sorry we're out, we'll give you pot stickers on the house. ME: Great!!! Xie xie ni. 15 mins and I was gone with my food and a smile on my face. Great service!!!

We love ginger house! But be aware that the menu in the photos is outdated. Prices have gone up about $3.

This was a very disappointing dining experience. The three of us had Shrimp Chow Fun, Chicken with Broccoli, and Orange Chicken. Not a single good dish in the bunch. The orange of the Orange Chicken tasted like pure syrup. The Chicken was extremely bland. The Shrimp Chow Fun was greasy salt (and not in a good way). The tea was great. The service was fast. But the food was enough to drive us away permanently.

Went for lunch with my family. The best thing I can say about this restaurant is that the three of us spent less than $30 for lunch. Sadly, it was the only money they will get from us, as the food was simply not tasty. We ordered three completely different dishes. Chicken and broccoli-overly greasy and rubbery chicken. Orange chicken- syrupy sauce but well cooked chicken. Shrimp chow fun- the best of the three, but the strongest flavor was grease. The lunch special came with soup and very tasty potstickers, so I might suggest just ordering the dumplings. The service was fast and friendly, and the tea was very good, but there just isn't enough there to warrant a return trip.

Henry's restaurant after Salt Lake drive inn days is pleasing. Honey walnut shrimp was puffy, crispy and yummy. Oyster sauce chicken in cake noodle was a little salty but tasty. Seafood combination was delicious. Good tea. Good service. Good.

Moneyball: tasty chinese food, dine-in or takeout Makes: good food, convenient location, fast, prompt and friendly service. Misses: none, just not 5 stars because nothing exceptionally special. Food tried: cold ginger chicken (very flavorful), roast duck (moist, tasty), fried rice (I like my rice/fried rice on the moister stickier side), Szechuan eggplant (the only time I will eat eggplant!), house chicken (I don't care for it, kind of dry), beef Choi sum cake noodle (my fav), salt and pepper shrimp (eat the whole thing, so Ono), honey walnut shrimp (the actual shrimp is small but it's very good), steamed fish with ginger and onions (soft, moist, tasty, another fav), volcano beef tenderloin (recommended, not spicy), beef broccoli (ok).

I've been here several times and this time I'm extremely disappointed. I ordered the Mongolian Beef and it was disgusting. It tasted like it was made with Heinz 57 sauce. Chinese food should not taste like it was prepared at a steakhouse.

This Chinese restaurant is very clean! The service is good...the thing that I didn't like is that they didn't bring all the food out at once. So, by the time all the food came out the first 2 dishes were cold. Other than that...the roast duck was AMAZING, the beef chow funn wasn't too tasty, the egg fu yung was good and the veggies were a little too gingery for my taste. Other than that...the over all experience was good. A little pricey...good to eat once in a while!

Terrible. Flaky rice, tasteless orange chicken, chewy shrimp, and what the hell is up with the baseball size honey walnut shrimp? More batter than shrimp. Waste of money and time.

The first time I came here I really enjoyed the experience; since then I've noticed that I really only enjoy certain dishes that others might not like. For example, I really enjoy sweet Chinese dishes, so I often get the orange chicken, or sweet and sour pork. The problem with these dishes is that they are SO sweet that my tongue is literally numb by the time I'm done eating. I enjoy the sweet, I really do, but it is a tad too much, even for my sweet tooth. And if it's a tad too much for me, then some poor unsuspecting soul is going to try it and realize they are diabetic by the time they swallow their first bite. Yeah. It's that sweet. As for the other dishes, I've had their kung pao chicken and it wasn't even tasty. It was really bland. I don't know how you can take a traditionally spicy dish and make it bland, but they did. And I hate having to say that about some of their dishes because I absolutely love the service here and think all the workers are fantastic people. But something must be done about the kung pao chicken. And if there is one great thing I will say about this place besides its service, it's that their restaurant is super clean and elegant-looking. I very much appreciate that.

Decided to try out the Chinese Restaurant in Mililani the in-laws rave about! I guess when it first opened up the prices were expensive and people weren't coming in. Now they lowered the prices and this place is packed! We decided to get the dinner for 4 for $38, which was a deal! 1) Gau Gee, 2) Soup-sweet and sour, 3)Choy sum, 4)Salt and Pepper shrimp, 5) Sweet and sour chicken, 6) Gon Lo Mein. The place was packed, so we waited a little bit. But the service was great and were quick with our meals! The hot tea was soo good, it was almost perfect! I will be back...for the amount of food we had, the dinner for 4 was a total deal!

They have the best peking duck buns that I've ever had. Their other food is good too, but nothing else really stands out to me besides the duck. I swear though, I have dreams about this duck.

Went here after a movie at the Mililani 14... The Hot and Sour was pretty good...but most of the meal was just ok. Ordered the: Spring rolls--oily Chow Fun-decent, over cooked veggies :( MaPo Tofu--OK Maybe if I ordered meat, I would have been pleased. The ambiance is nice. Very clean...very spacious.

Best Chinese food on this side of the island. Szechuan Garlic Eggplant is delicious; Hong Kong style kau yuk is perfect - order the buns on the side too; crispy fried chicken is the best. The staff is always extremely courteous and the restaurant is spacious and clean. What more can you ask?

I enjoyed the clean environment and the wide open atmosphere provided by the large windows that allow passers by in the Mililani Town Center to see you putting down that orange chicken lunch special. However, on one particular Sunday afternoon, I had the Mongolian beef lunch special, and I was surprised by the spongy texture of the meat. That's right. Spongy. I'm not sure how much of that was meat, how much was fat, and how much was...? I KNEW I should have been a little wary of a Chinese restaurant that doesn't serve salted duck egg. The potstickers were okay.

I really like won ton mein. I've tried many places but Ginger House's won ton dumplings are the best! When you bite into the dumpling, you taste shrimp (a whole shrimp in every dumpling) and the meat filling. The soup is flavorful but not too salty. I think they changed the noodles recently because the color and taste is alittle different (I prefer the other one) but they are still tasty. They also give enough greens to balance this soup. I've tried their other dishes, off the main menu, and everything has been good. My Dad likes their cold ginger chicken and I enjoy their shrimp canton. The shrimp are large and not too much breading on them. The restaurant is very clean and the service is friendly.

Ive been here more than a dozen times and service has been consistently good. Ive had many large parties here and have been served within 10 minutes. I like that restaurant is clean, not like the typical chinese rest ive gone to before. My faves are Ginger Chicken - best ive had so far. i could just eat the chicken Shrimp Balls - equivalent to giant shrimp shumai comes with a creamy dressing Salt/pepper porkchop - tender and spicy Volcano Beef - tender loaded with fresh ground pepper Walnut Shrimp - ohhhh man!!!! so worth the 2lbs you'll gain

Have walked passed this restaurant many times and finally decided to try it last night. While the service was excellent, the taste of the food was not to my liking, the quality was merely OK, portions were average, and the pricing was too high. I order Szechuan eggplant with pork and asked for it to be served on mien (not cake noodles). The menu quoted a price of $10.90 for the entree. At other chinese restaurants like Wah Kung in Manpunapuna, House of Dragon in Pearl City, Golden Wheel in Aiea, etc., when you ask that the entree be served on mien, they do not charge you extra for the mein or if they do, it's a dollar or less. So when I asked for the Szechuan eggplant and pork served on noodles, I was not expecting much of a price difference. When I got my check, I was shocked to see a bill for $14.55 with tax, and before tip. This place had the gall to charge $3.00 for the noodles. I felt this was an outrageously high price for a meal that was definitely run of the mill. So unless you don't mind over-paying for Chinese food, stay away from Ginger House.

This was my second time eating here. Lots of room for lunch but the place fills up for dinner. Prices are slightly higher than other Chinese restaurants in the area but the quality seems slightly higher. The service is very good. Kau Yuk -- Very Good, moist with lots of sauce and the right amount of meat and fat. Chinese Chicken Salad -- Very Good. It looks like your ordinary chicken salad but it was very tasty. Shrimp with Vegetables -- Everything seemed really fresh but the taste didn't stand out. Beef with Black Bean Sauce and Noodles -- OK I will be back to try other dishes that were highly recommended.

HONEY WALNUT SHRIMP~!!!! YUM YUM YUM!! It's one of my food weaknesses. Actually, ANY good food is my weakness. Hehe. Ginger House's honey walnut shrimp is the right size, has just the right amount of flavor and something about it just gives me an orgasm in my mouth! With every bite you get a piece of shrimp so you know they're not skimping out on the size. Well, enough about the shrimp. I came here with a group so we ordered the Set A for a group of 10 people. If I remember correctly, it included soup, peking duck, roast duck, chicken, honey walnut shrimp , volcano beef, fried rice, crispy noodle with broccoli & char siu, fish (melts in your mouth), and two types of dessert: tapioca or mango pudding. Each dish taste scrumdiliumcious with the exception of the sauce that came with the chicken dish. It has a unique taste and I'm sure some people like it but I'm not one of them. Regardless, I definitely recommend anyone and everyone to bring their hunger to Ginger House and leave satisfied! WARNING: Fainting or orgasm in your mouth may occur due to the yummilicious food served. I will not be liable if this should occur.

We usually visit this place for lunch during the week. In my opinion, this place offers the best lunch specials in the area - for $9 you get a main entree with white rice or fried rice, 2 potstickers, and a choice of egg drop soup or a soft drink. What I like best about the food here is that it isn't the typical oily and overly-salted chinese food. My favorite lunch special is the fish sauteed with vegetables with fried rice. Generous amounts of lightly seasoned fish (I believe it's halibut/flounder) sauteed with veggies in a mild garlic sauce. The fried rice isn't anything special, more like some scrambled eggs tossed in some rice. I am always satisfied when I leave this place, the portions are very generous considering the price and all the freebies you get. Finally, the service is always great and the restaurant is very clean!

I wish I had tried this place a long time ago. It took five years to finally get some decent Chinese food on island. The hot and sour soup was by far the best around, and the char-siu was excellent as well. My wife got some mushroom/vegetable dish with zero complaints. We'll be back!

Friendly staff, clean tables. Best cake noodle on the island. They use the skinny Hong Kong style noodles. We order the oyster sauce chicken cake noodle all the time. The roast duck is also usually very tasty, tender and meaty. They have lunch specials that comes with a drink or soup and two potstickers. We also order the sweet sour chicken that is pretty tasty too. The shrimp they use in their dishes are pretty giant looking too, maybe 16/20 size? It isn't a large restaurant, but there are about 6 tables for 10 if you want to go their for a special occasion. But hands down the best cake noodle!

IF YOU LOVE TENDER BEEF; My favorite dish at Ginger House is Volcano Beef. Tender, Flavorful beef with just the right amount of spices. And the Jasmine tea is great too!

Speedy service but the food is average. Double check your orders before you leave as they have a tendency to change meats and substitute without your knowledge. Sweet sour pork there is better than normal, but their black bean chicken is terrible. Generally a give and take, one really good item one bad one.

Returned for a birthday celebration. A small group, 4 adults and one child so we ordered the special for 4 (I think choice D) plus two orders of a noodle dish (cake noodles, of course). Again, the food was delicious with quite a bit of "left overs" to take home. We shall return. Btw, we went on a Friday evening and the place got quite busy...people had to wait for a table. Need to mention that the service we received was excellent...unlike some other restaurants

We really liked this restaurant and bummed we didn't go there sooner. The service was very good and the food was excellent! We started off with the "Wor Wanton Soup". A very large serving...plenty for 4 people...and the server pours serves each bowl in front of you. The next thing we had was the "Honey Walnut Shrimp": Huge Pieces Of shrimp, lightly breaded with tasty sauce...and caramelized pecans...could have had a bit more pecans with the serving. A very large serving by itself. Garlic/Ginger baked Chicken, very good, and we loved the garlic spinach. There was a lot of food on our table....more than enough for 4 people... and we only paid $58 ! Awesome Deal! Don't need to drive into town for good food! Aloha!

Decided to stop in around 430, not a single customer in. Pretty quick service, very pleasant employees. My wife ordered a custom dish which was no problem for them. I ordered the orange chicken, fried rice, and shared a won ton soup. The orange chicken didn't overpower you, the won ton soup was very good, also presentation of all the dishes was good. Id recommend.

The bf and I just finished off the fish fillets mixed with choy sum, cold ginger chicken, chicken salad, honey garlic chicken, and the house soup.....delicious food experience. As always, the service was great (I rate service not just on food, but also on how often they come to fill my water). Me and my honey are happy little gluttons.

Ginger House was a pleasant dining experience. I recently celebrated my wedding there and the service was excellent. I ordered a preset menu for ten and everything was ready when I arrived. The food was excellent. The Volcano Beef was an interesting and novel experience. The Walnut Shrimp was excellent. A very pleasant experience and great service. It was my first time here and I came based on the reviews here.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
