came for the $22/pp breakfast buffet, which consisted of an omelette station and the various food staples you would expect at a breakfast buffet. the one complain is that the coffee tasted and felt watered down.

My wife and I stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort. We ate here a couple times. For breakfast we had the buffet ($22). This consisted in unlimited coffee and juices. The buffet line included pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, croissants, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, and a make your own omelet station. This was good the first time, but was a little bland the second time around. I would of preferred to order one of the breakfast meals. Service was a little slow. I had to get up a couple times to ask for more juice, so I decided to ask for two juices at a time. We went to dinner July 30th. The server was very friendly, I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and added chicken for $3.00 more (literally 4 pieces of chicken). I was very disappointed with this plate. The Alfredo sauce that gives it its flavor was extremely watered down, as if they ran out of sauce and added water to make more. I informed our waiter and he was more than willing to give me another plate, but I kindly declined. Overall, the service was better for dinner, but I would of preferred to spend my money elsewhere.

Nice place to eat at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort. We had dinner and the breakfast buffet here during our stay. The service and food presentation are great. I had the Kalbi Flank Steak for dinner - not quite what I expected, but I still enjoyed it. Instead of the normal kalbi flavor that I'm used to, this seemed more like teriyaki steak. For the breakfast buffet, make sure to stop by the omelet station. You can choose whatever ingredients you want. There's also a lot of other things available at the buffet such as fresh fruits, pastries, bread pudding, bacon, fried rice, etc. And there's POG too!

A mediocre menu trying too hard to be "fancy". The service from our waitress was impeccable, but unfortunately our experience was ruined when the food arrive. My ahi tuna was way over cooked leading to a hard to swallow piece of fish bathed in a underwhelming mango sauce. Also, the menu described the ahi to be "crusted" with macadamia nuts which was not. The macadamia nuts were chopped and tossed on top of my fish which is different from "crusted". The salad bar was basic. It's a shame than the Hawaiian cuisine isn't really showcased in this place. My tip: get in your car and drive somewhere else.

DO NOT EAT AT NAUPAKA! If you are staying at Kauai Beach Resort and it's late and you need food, resist the urge to eat at Naupaka. It is more worth the drive to go carry out a pizza in Lihue. If you need an in depth description, please read Richard S.'s review. Service was terrible, food was worse. My girlfriend waited 10 minutes at the prime rib station to be served while servers looked at her and walked by. We were on plate #2 before we had our drink orders taken. Salad bar was scant. Mahi was dry. Food was cold. Paid $100+ for 2 people for a buffet that was worse than Golden Corral. It is painfully obvious that any 4-5 star reviews in this entry are actually employees trying to counteract the lower and more correct reviews. Please, for your own good, do not be deceived by the positive reviews. There is so much better, fresher food on Kauai.

Naupaka Terrace is the main food option at the Kauai Beach Resort and although it was so convenient for me to get some food, I was really disappointed in the food quality. We checked in late in the evening and of course I was starving so we decided to have dinner our first night there. Typically, most food tastes great when you're starving. I had the chicken alfredo pasta and was dismayed at the lack of taste the dish had. The chicken didn't even taste like it had any seasoning on it; it was just terribly bland and so was the alfredo sauce. I decided to give them another try for their $19.99 breakfast buffet and wasn't as disappointed in the buffet as the chicken alfredo meal but I wasn't impressed at all either. The customer service was pretty good but the food was mediocre. They had a nice variety of warm food (bacon, eggs, sausage, etc.), cereal, oatmeal, dessert and bread but like I said, not very impressive. The setting of the restaurant, however was nice. They are located right next to the pool area and have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor tables have umbrellas and provide a nice view to the pool. Overall, the customer service was good but the food, meh, I'll pass. P.S. They offer a Kama`aina discount.

5 floors down from our room right in the lobby, wow what a treasure to find! I'm usually pretty "iffy" on resort or hotel restaurants but man this one shut my mouth! Excellent STRONG drinks, and then the food came out. Thank god I was sitting down because the presentation and taste would've knocked me off my feet. So glad we stopped here and the prices weren't bad either. If your in the area do yourself a favor and check it out, you can sit outside by the fire or torches too its really nice!

It bums me out to give this place only 2 stars but I just can't say that my experience here was good enough to compensate for the shitty food. They really REALLY push the all you can eat buffet, and why wouldn't they, it's like $50 per person, but oh, kids are free. Probably because kids won't really want to eat ANYTHING on the buffet except the ice cream. On this night they had the seafood buffet. I'm pregnant, so this did NOT appeal to me except they had crab legs and prime rib. After looking over the menu, and looking at the All I Can Eat prime rib, I chose the buffet. So, I'm 99.9% sure that everything on this buffet came from Costco. I like Costco, so what's the big deal? Well, nothing except I think the only reason they had an all you can eat buffet was to get rid of all the shit about to go bad in the kitchen. The ONLY thing that tasted edible was the potatoes. The prime rib was so tough I had to ask for a steak knife, the crab legs were puny, cold and didn't come with butter, I couldn't eat the rest of the buffet because I'm not allowed ,but my husband said "no bueno!" We went back to our room and ordered room service. I'm not even joking. So, we basically blew $100+ on a shitty dinner in a pretty restaurant. That is definitely why this place only gets 2 stars.

Can I give 0 stars?! First off let me give a shout out to Richard S and his review including the picture of a toilet bowl. We too spent the night sick! It was by FAR one of the worst meals of our lives. It was low quality, greasy, weird, over priced garbage. The resort keeps you captive with this being the ONLY food option for dinner. What an expensive mistake. You've been warned.

I need to preface this review with a reminder that I could not select less than one star. Truthishly giving this disaster of a 'meal' one star should be considered a tax deductible donation. I write this review as I introduce my brand new wife to the worst smells a man can make. You're welcome sweetheart, that shit can't be bought for less than 44.95 a plate. *pause for explosive diarrhea* I suppose I could write a thank you note to the restaurant for finally helping me lose those last pesky 26lbs one night before my honeymoon is over... Instead I will take the moral high road and warn the remainder of the population against this vomit factory. Shit, did I feed the cat before I came on my honeymoon? I'm only reminded of this because the first thing I saw was catfood wrapped in uncle bens and black construction paper... Which apparently passes for sushi here. Delightful! After about 5 minutes of wondering why I couldn't master the chopsticks (seriously, I wasn't that drunk), I realized I was using two of the succulent crab legs. I don't even care about how unsatisfied I am, I just feel bad for the malnourished crabs who were sacrificed at the height of their anorexic lives in a bold attempt to fool the 70 and over tourist population who can no longer remember what real crab legs should look like. After tasting roughly 7 of the exquisite seafood offerings, and suicidal thoughts growing with each bite, I thought the deep fried something would be a welcome change of pace from the 'fresh authentic cuisine.' Wrong - long john silvers '1' - over priced, make you wait 20 minutes past your reservation time on your honeymoon, vomit factory - '0' I would love to chalk this up to another overrated, unsatisfying, waste of an evening and a hundred plus dollar meal - but due to the impending remake of 'aliens' about to take place in my stomach, I feel compelled to alert the rest of the yelp population against this flavor hating money grabbing toilet store of a restaurant. The only satisfying moment of this meal was warning an unsuspecting young couple of the atrocities that laid within as they approached this pit of culinary despair. Sadly we chose this as our expensive meal of the trip, when instead we could have spent $15 in a frozen food aisle and 5 minutes at a microwave and been much happier. On a positive note, pepto stock has risen 4 points, and we now know ourselves better than any other recently married couple ever should. Don't. Eat. Here. Ever. For any amount of money. Poop.

after church we figure we try Naupaka terrace's Sunday brunch. Hostess who I'm pretty sure was the MOD was very pleasant and actually because of her we were sold to eating there. FOOD actions stations- Flank steak carving station, meat dried out and no one there to attend Omelet station- same, no one there, flies in condiment containers. No egg whites, but YES to egg beaters. FRUITS FRIED MAHI- ok breakfast sausages biscuits and gravy yogurt station toast station a wide array of sweets an some salads on the side nothing to WOW you, kids might like the yogurt machine. Run down and poorly maintained. We never spoke to our server, who never came to check up. i asked for water and even had to get up to settle my check as we were walking out, I noticed everyone liked to hang behind the door in the kitchen. Maybe they are embarrassed to show their faces, or not comfortable to engage with their guests, maybe they get paid a lot of money to not even care about service. Whatever it is, we won't go back or recommend it. You can find a way better $30 brunch/ breakfast.

Slow service, inconsistent staff. We went here for breakfast during our stay. Everything is slow, from the time it takes someone to serve you coffee to the time it takes to place and receive your order, even of the restaurant is largely empty. In Hawaii rice is often served with eggs, we asked for soy sauce both times we ate there but it took over ten minutes to get any brought to us. Odd that they just don't provide condiments right on the table. It would be much more efficient to have them on the table rather than wait until your food is cold for the waitress to actually bring any. Food is ok but slow service brings this place down in my book.

  • Koko L.

Way over prices. And the ambiance is pathetic. There were only a handful of tables occupied while we were there. We would only eat here because we were so tired from an all day hike and kayaking and got too lazy to go out after a nice shower.

Very below average. I agree with another, not sure what people are rating. The bread is good, but that is it. Honestly, we will never stay at this hotel, or eat at this restaurant again. I have had good hotel restaurant food in my travels......NOT HERE!!!!!!

Excellent salad bar. The New York Steak came out sizzling, and was prepared in a manner similar to Fajitas...but WOW was it excellent! The deserts are plentiful and very delicious

QUICK REVIEW: Overpriced mediocre continental breakfast. DETAILED REVIEW: Went to Naupaka for breakfast after reading ad in Kauai dining magazine. Overpriced ($20/person), very limited choices (only one breakfast meat selection no breakfast potato dishes, no veggie dishes whatsoever, and nothing really island style except for fruit, not even coconut syrup), some items were cold (french toast, bread pudding, and bacon) some of the food tasted like it was from a can (brown gravy), and some tasted like it was a pre-packaged box item (fried rice tasted like a rice-a-roni mix). This was basically a hotel continental breakfast that you get charged for, not a "resort" style dining experience. Complaints were given to waitress, who was understanding (must not have been first time hearing this) and she said she would get a manager. The waitress came back and said the manager was "sorry" and gave us the kamaaina rate...$2 off/person. Unfortunately, we are local and would've gotten it anyway. The manager never did come out...and we will never go back.

Breakfast was way beyond disappointing. .. And for the price too! !! Hot dishes were cold and not much to choose from. White rice or fried rice are 2 of the "hot" potions???? Seriously? What about offering more gourmet choices for my gourmet cost? Never coming back here again.

MUST READ! I'd actually like Yelp to allow negative stars .... this one deserves negative 5. If you're staying in or near the Kauai beach resort, then ssssstay away from this place. I order the "fresh fish" (Ono) which was over priced. Ironicly named as the fish tasted very "fishy" but being as hungry as I was, I ended up just smothering it with more of their sauce they provide and ate all of it. BAD IDEA! Woke up the next morning at 3 am to throw up and couldn't stop until noon. It was excruciating! Ruined a helicopter tour we had at 8am that morning! Couldn't eat fish the rest of the vacation. Worst experience ever. Restaurant stated that I was the only one to mention getting sick from the Ono so it must not be their fault. Mind blowing! Stay away

Breakfast Buffet. Very nicely done, plenty of food but not an overly extensive menu or layout. Price is right for Hawaii and, in this case, you get plenty for what you pay. Service was good and timely even though you help yourself for the most part. Highly recommended if you are good for breakfast basics like cereal, eggs, bacon, fruit, etc. If you are looking for an extensive choice including fish, meat, etc. this is not the place.

Yes, a little pricey so that is why I deducted one star. However, we were staying at the hotel and didn't want to leave to get dinner one night. We showed up 30 minutes before the restaurant was supposed to close so I was a little apprehensive about the kind of service we were in for. However, our waiter didn't rush us at all and our food came out at just the right intervals. Our waiter was super charming and gosh I wish remembered his name... he was certainly one of the best waiters we had on our trip in Kauai. Since it was so late we ordered small. My husband and I both had the French Onion soup, which was absolutely delicious! Not too salty, cheesy and the best I've had ever. My husband had a cheeseburger, which he said was great, and I had the salad bar. The salad bar has great variety. We shared dessert and left very happy and satisfied. The next morning we had breakfast, but this time in of the lanai's of the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was free for us so I was little worried about the quality. However, there was great selections and lots of fresh and healthy options. The sun moved while we were eating and exposed us uncomfortably to the sun, so I would recommend eating in the restaurant during breakfast.

Terrible! I have traveled all over the world and eaten in the best and worst restaurants - this was the worst meal I have ever been served. I ordered off if the Valentines Day special menu, ordering the prime rib medium rare. What I got was a slice off of a low grade rib roast that appeared to have been boiled or flat fried, Was well done, and cold to the touch. It was disgusting. The au jus was pasty thick and tasted like burnt gravy. We were a party of four and two elected to do the buffet for the crab legs. They were small snowcrab legs, over boiled, were cold, and were very fishy tasting. Our overall experience was absolutely terrible. The bill for dinner was $350. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The breakfast buffet is pretty impressive and the dinner salad bar is good, but way overpriced. But that's par for course when you stay at a nice hotel resort. The kalbi dinner came out sizzling and looked great, but it was actually hard and tough, not tender and juicy.

Um not sure if the other reviewers of this place have ever had a decent meal...awful food We stayed in this hotel for our last night on the island after staying in a beautiful rental house on anini beach on the north shore. I can accept that kauai is not really known for its epicurean experiences, but we had some decent meals during our week on the island(had some good BBQ at garden island BBQ in lihue). After a busy week, we decided to have a quick dinner at the hotel restaurant. A quick check of yelp showed a rating of 4stars. We had: -tuna sashimi(not horrible but had much better tuna from the local grocery) -calamari(too much batter and no lemon) -strip steak(cooked to the right temp and decent cut) -swordfish(overcooked, bland, came with mash potatoes with bacon bits lol) -tofu with curry and soba noodles(bland curry, tofu was mushy..bleh) Overall, the food was really sub-par. The server was really friendly but screwed up our drink orders(I asked for a gimlet as got straight gin over ice) All entrees came with a salad from the salad bar. Iceberg lettuce and ranch dressingtastic! If I'm paying bank for a meal I kinda expect for my salad to be made for me thank you very much. The worst part was that all the entrees were $$$ (I don't mind paying $30 for an entree if it's well executed...but this place was way off the mark) Take your buisness outside the hotel if your hungry

In a hotel so it has that hotel restaurant feel. Cool bar is just next door with good music. But we ate at Naupaka one night and it was Great Local Food. I had the kal-bi. They just reduced prices.

With all the convenience of a hotel restaurant, this is one that I would recommend even non-guest come try at lease once. It has a wonderful plantation inspired dcor. The menu is a pretty extensive selection of Pacific/American food. It is however pretty pricy. My husband and I had a dinner bill of $70+ for a meal of 2 entres and a appetizer, no alcoholic drinks. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and the view to the hotel pool/courtyard is delightful. It is over all a very good experience.

Server had NO CLUE about their coupon/ deal on YELP. We showed it to her and she didn't know what to do. It was for a free starter too which is like a $16 value at a report. Food was ok. Server was nice but I more than likely would not return. Setting nice but as in Hawaii expensive .

Seafood Buffet (Saturday nights) is worth going. Kamaaina discount 12% with a valid Hawaii I.D. Our waiter Everette was awesome. He made sure that we were satisfied and that our son had a happy tummy. Their Mother's Day buffet is the best on the island. They cater more toward the local pallet and kids who are picky like my son. Thanks Everette my tummy was super happy.

Con: Not Fresh. Not like any of the photos that are posted above. It was slop. It was over priced. Not fresh. Tasteless. I ordered the herbed chicken, pilaf, grilled vegetables. When it was served on the table I gasped. Then when I tasted it I started laughing. The pilaf was ice cold & old, the chicken was a frozen, breaded and fried. Then topped with a sauce that was out of a jar, compariable to that gravy the markets sell at Thanksgiving. Pro: Only reason this place deserves one star. The hotel is great. The employees are great. I believe the waitress and bus boy were embarressed and knew they were serving slop. My daughters and husband's meals were just as bad, I don't want to waste your time or mind on the details. Most importantly the chef does not care that he is serving slop. Here on Kauai a beautiful island were FRESH food is abundant... what this chef and restaurant are doing is a CRIME. Our bill was $88 and THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. It was very sad.

If you're staying here you may as well eat here for breakfast. Lihue does not have a lot of great breakfast options that I have found, and it does have some pretty bad ones... The dinner here is expensive and not particularly good. There are lots of great, better options throughout the island for dinner...

Attended a lunch meeting in the Plumeria Room and it was really Nice. Loved the historical paintings and antiques that darted the room. From Salad to Dessert the Food was Fantastic. Everyone was in awe, as the Aroma accompanied the sound of the Sizzling Steak Platters, Perfectly done as onions and mushrooms still sauté in front of me. The Servers most Excellent, kept me not wanting. Everything was so good I made sure to keep room for the much anticipated dessert... Bananas Foster w a twist of Chef Sassone. Thank u, Chef and Crew, who came out for an appearance, giving us the most Delight, of his great company and of course, Words. Mahalo.

Our free breakfast buffet vouchers were for Naupaka, so we ended up here for three breakfasts. The buffet is a good one, with a variety of options that rotated during our stay: pancakes or french toast, bacon or sausage, potatoes, eggs, fruit, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, bread pudding, dry cereals, and an omelette station. Kiddies breakfasts were not free with the room like the adults, and theirs were $7.95 each, a pricey option but expected in a resort. Service was friendly on the wait side, but the hostesses seemed a bit distant. All in all, if it's free it's fine, but we didn't opt to dine here for dinner.

Good food, really great service, wonderful ambiance. Eat outside next to the Koi ponds and torches (at night). The prices were a bit more than we budgeted but while staying at the resort, we took advantage of the Monday - Thur specials or just had the very fine 14.00 soup and salad bar.

No, this review is not about the Naupaka Terrace at the Ihiliani Resort, instead this is about the Naupaka Terrace at the Kauai Beach Resort and while they have some similarities in their name, ambiance, and that they are at a hotel....that's pretty much where the similarities end. This Naupaka Terrace Steakhouse is an Asian-fusion take on a steakhouse style menu and while it makes a good effort, it ultimately falls just a bit short of making it truly wow. In the end, they offer a decent menu offering, good service, and a truly gorgeous ambiance. The menu features a good selection of steak, seafood, pasta, as well as some combinations should your taste buds do the talking and you can't decide what you might end up wanting. The steak is well cooked and full of natural flavors while the fresh catch was quite nice with their cream sauce. The cream sauce was a tad on the heavier side, however still quite a nice complement. That being said, it wasn't anything truly wow-ing or mind blowing different that would make me say, I have to come here for this. It's more a, its a convenient nice restaurant so I'll dine there. Service is good with the staff coming by and checking in on you. However food didn't arrive in a careful orchestration nor were we asked about appetizers. Not that we were really in the mood for it, but at an establishment of this nature it would be something I'd come to expect. Call me nitpicky but the small details add up. The ambiance is certainly gorgeous with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor tables overlook a pond and the pool area complete with its large waterfall. As the stars fill the sky overhead, it truly is a gorgeous sight. However, it appears they are still going through some of their renovations and the carpet hasn't quite been laid down yet. All in all it was a good dinner, not wow. In places like Kauai, you truly need wow to have the locals check it out and for the tourists want to dine there every night of their stay.

Really nice ambiance! One of the "sleepers" here on Kauai and you can tell they are really trying. It's almost as romantic here at sunset as Hukilau Lanai, and that's saying a lot. But...really need to get a less traditional menu. I'd ditch stuff like prime rib, pasta, and put in place more grilled fish, maybe a wagyu shabu shabu or other fun things and move away from old school steak and lobster. Make it more like Morimoto and less like Red Lobster. But still, I live here and coming here for drink with my wife and carefully picking lighter fare we had a fantastic time! Not crowded because local people don't really have it on their radar.

A bit pricey, but surprisingly decent food considering its a resort restaurant. We went there twice and each time enjoyed the food. Even the vegetarian options were tasty. Don't overlook it just because its a resort restaurant - it's better than Dukes!

This place was unfortunately the last place we went out for dinner on our vacation. My sweet mother-in-law thought that since they had so many options, it would make everyone in our party happy. But for $38 a person at their Friday night buffet, they made less of an impression. Since she was gracious enough to pay for the bill, I didn't deviate from what everyone else had, which was the buffet. As pretty as the food was, it all was just the run of the mill buffet food, with nothing spectacular. Don't get me wrong, it was all fresh, but everything from the crab legs, to the prime rib, to the desserts were just ok and I certainly wouldn't pay $38 a person for it if it was just my hubby and I. They did get an extra star for the service and the drinks however. They got no complaints there. Once again, when your vacationing with in-laws, go with the flow.

We've had breakfast at this location for many years, back when they had the very large Portuguese pancake that my wife liked. We had always had a good breakfast there so we thought we'd try again. Well, I have to say that I had the best Eggs Benedict that I've had in the islands. And they don't even call it that, they call it their Sunrise breakfast. I'm an Eggs Benedict aficionado and rarely find one that I like. Often, what places pass off as Eggs Benedict doesn't have Canadian bacon, doesn't toast the English muffin properly and has too cheesy a Holandaise sauce. Naupaka Terrace toasts the muffin so that it has the right crunch, uses a thick slice of Canadian bacon and has just the right ingredients to the sauce where it is not too lemony or cheesy. I have to go back again before we leave to have it again. The only thing more they could do is to have some hash browns to go along with it. My wife had pancakes that came with fruit and macadamia nuts. Usually they put those on the top of the pancakes. She asked them to serve the fruit on the side and include the mac nuts in the batter, which they did with no problem. Very first class. And the service was very good too. Now being in the Kauai Beach Resort, one does pay resort prices. But even so, with our coffees, the total with tip for my Sunrise breakfast and her pancakes was $35. I have paid less elsewhere but at a quality that didn't approach half of what we received here.

The restaurant at the Kauai Beach Resort. Beautiful facility. Best seats are at the window or on the patio overlooking the pool. We ate breakfast there a few rtimes and did the buffet for dinner. The buffet was decent, appears to be a local favorite. Breakfast was OK too. If you don't want to leave the resort, you'll get an OK meal here.

We celebrated my inlaws anniversary with a part of 13 on a Sunday night. Even though we had a reservation we had to wait 15 mins to be seated. But from then on the service was great. We had 4 kids in our group and their food showed shortly after returned from the salad bar. Which was nice so they didn't get antsy. Everyone enjoyed their food, even grandpa which says something! Everything was priced very fair. We will recommend.

The staff is so nice, and the service is great. The restaurant and view of the pool, garden, and koi pond is also very nice and relaxing. The food was excellent! I had crab cake Eggs Benedict and it was so yummy! Good coffee, and I didn't have it but everything at the buffet looked good too. My only complaint is that it's a bit pricey, but it is in a beachfront hotel, so I guess you should expect resort prices.

This restaurant was in the hotel next to the time share we stayed in, so it was convenient to get to. While the prices are definitely on the higher side - like hotel restaurants usually are, they have the most extensive salad bar, which on some evenings sufficed as a complete meal for me. My husband had several of the steak dishes and I tried them too - all great. The service was always friendly too. It's hard to find a really good salad in Kauai...

It's hard to find a really good salad in Kauai...

after church we figure we try Naupaka terrace's Sunday brunch.

Poop.

Thanks Everette my tummy was super happy.

came for the $22/pp breakfast buffet, which consisted of an omelette station and the various food staples you would expect at a breakfast buffet. the one complain is that the coffee tasted and felt watered down.
