It was 8:20pm and me and my fellow coworkers were eating at the BBQ grill and the owner came out and was swearing at us saying its too late and that he wasn't going to take this (explicit swear word)!!!! He gave no warning and seemed drunk!!! Our company always has someone in one of their rental rooms EVERY WEEK!!! Mind you we weren't even loud. This will be the last time we stay at their hotel!!!

We stayed at the Kauai Inn on a recent 8 night vacation in Kauai. We were all four a big fan of the Inn. It is a great budget inn with rooms starting around $99, which is pretty good in Kauai. It is off the beaten path some, but is is only 3 miles from the airport, two miles to Costco and close to a lot of food in Lihue. The rooms are solid and they do have a fridge which was awesome to be able to go to Costco and stock up on a few items. They do also have a laundry room if you happen to need it but I hear the dryer takes awhile so you would have to be patient! The staff was all very friendly and willing to give suggestions. The inn is located about in the south side of the island which is a good location as it will take you similar time to go to the end of the road in each direction: north to Ke'e beach and west to Polihale beach. I recommend the Kauai Inn if you want a simple, laid back place to stay that doesn't have anything fancy that will cost you more than necessary.

this is a great gem of a hotel i didn't find on my usual sites but through a local friend. for the price it is perfect! they were super friendly, the room (i believe the least expensive) was so nice and spacious even with a big tv, mini fridge, and microwave which is rare for an inexpensive hotel! the pink towels for some reason really put this place over the top for me. so cute!! the people complaining about wifi and roosters seem like they should just not go to hawaii lol. YOURE IN HAWAII. there are roosters literally everywhere and also get off yr wifi geeze. there is spotty wifi and if you need to 'gram that bad or something you can walk over to the office or area with 24 hour coffee & tea. anyway. this was a great place A+ will recommend for sure.

My husband and I were in Kauai for a wedding and needed to find a hotel to stay at that was closer to the reception than where were were originally staying(which was about an hour or so away). We came across this place that had pretty good reviews and was inexpensive. The service was excellent. The woman at the front desk was super friendly, very informative and helpful. We needed a taxi to take us over to the reception and she ended up calling over 10 taxi companies until someone came to get us. She was so great.(we learned later on that finding a taxi in Kauai is VERY difficult) They had water, coffee and tea available at all times and even a free breakfast in the morning the reason for the 3 stars was due to the fact that our room did not have air condition which is a must on those hot Kauai nights, the beds were not very comfortable, and the rooms were small. But overall, a good, easy place to stay that is close to town you cant beat the customer service here!

I booked Kauai Inn Resort for one very short night, for right after our late night flight into Kauai. When we arrived, there was staff waiting for us and she was so pleasant even at that hour! She even gave us a short tour of the facility. After finding out we would be leaving too early to enjoy the continental breakfast, she said there would be a few bananas out for us to grab in the morning! So sweet! The resort was busy this Memorial weekend and we were bumped up to a nicer room which included a nice indoor tub. This was a godsend after the flight and the late hour (meaning closed pool/jacuzzi). Sheets were smooth and the bed comfortable, which was all we required for that night. I was even later emailed with a thank you letter from the inn that also offered a 20% discount at our next stay! Amazing. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future!

My 5 star rating is based on overall value. You are not going to get free Mai Tai's at check in. There is no hula show or Luau. There is no room service. If you're looking for in house spa services... this place isn't for you. If you're looking to visit Kauai and are on a budget but are not willing to compromise safety, cleanness, and friendly service... This place is definitely for you!!! You will get a friendly smile at the front desk. A clean room. Free continental breakfast. Free WiFi and free parking. There are no hidden fees!!! I found similar priced hotels in Kauai during my stay, but they all had those hidden fee's. WiFi $10. Parking $15, etc... You don't have to worry about that at Kauai Inn. Plus, the location is ideal... If I ever come back to Kauai, I will ALWAYS stay here. Spend your $ on helicopter tours and dinner sails to the Napali coast... not over priced hotel rooms. Those with children, very safe place.

My wife and I stayed here for 10 days for our honeymoon. I really recommend it. If you want peace and quit and clean rooms come here. The staff are amazing and super nice. They have a bbq in the back that you can use anytime. Refrigerator in the room as well as a microwave. Best stay I've ever had in any hotel

Really nice stay. Older property but well maintained. Staff exceptionally friendly displaying the Aloha Spirit. Complimentary Continental Plus breakfast with at least 5 fresh fruits, bagels, bread for toast and assorted sweet muffins. I'm not a coffee aficionado but even the coffee was delicious. Rate reasonable- off old wharf area and would pass by the cruise ship of the day heading while heading out to explore- Napoli coast gorgeous and many venues to see it.

I thought this was an amazing deal. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and prices were very reasonable! The room was spacious, clean, beds were comfortable, they had a microwave and fridge in the room, which for someone traveling in a budget is is a great thing... Costco was nearby. they serve breakfast in the am, but they start kind of late. 8am. It is very late when you wake up at 6 am because of the roosters singing by your window (yeah the whole island is full of them, the hotel area is not different) and is ready to hit the beach by 7am.... Service was friendly. They offer beach mats which was very convenient. You must have a car, it is sort of in the middle of nowhere. You drive by a very industrial ugly looking area before getting here. The area is very peaceful overlooking some gorgeous green mountains.

Great place for a weekend getaway. The staff are fantastic, the location in good, the grounds are beautiful, the price is right and it's easy to find. The only negative is that the beds could use some replacing. Other than that I would recommend Kauai Inn

Have stayed here around a dozen times over the past several years. Super location central to everything. Love the free breakfasts. Staff is super nice - am on a first name basis with many of them. They had great Internet access years before others did. I don't give it a second thought - I always stay here when I'm on Kauai.

We stayed at the Inn a week in Feb. 2013.We had never been to Kauai so was unfamiliar with Lihue's streets. The Inn is 3 miles from the airport, but it took us at least a half hour to find it. Not the Inn's fault, it appears local authorities don't spend much money on street signs. Many small streets had no signs in the neighborhoods or at major connecting streets. Check in was easy, the staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean with microwaves and a small frig. Had memory foam mattress. Staff would make beds and straighten up daily if needed. Has a nice tropical pool area, pool unheated. There is a great terrace area where we had complimentary breakfasts (policy ending 2/28/13). There are only 48 units in 4 two story buildings. Its cozy and close to the cruise ship harbor, in a residential area. Half mile to Lihue's beach and fun area. Lots of shops, restaurants, beach rentals etc. Wild chickens everywhere on Kauia, due to past hurricanes. Roosters start crowing about 3:30 am, so shut your windows and turn on the a/c fan. Otherwise the trade-winds were wonderful, always had windows open. Occasional spotty rain, plenty of sun. Kauai is the most beautiful of Islands, the north coast looks like scenes from South Pacific. Lihue is halfway between everything , so is a good central location for sightseeing. Its not a 5 star resort, but thats not what we wanted. We will stay there again. Not sure what we paid as it came in a package, which we considered a good deal. A tip for houskeeping is the right thing to do.

This place was great. Everything about it was all that I could ask for. The people were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, the breakfast was fresh and delicious! It's set back from the highway which is nice, but it's still not too far away from food and tourist attractions. In fact, if you stay here Menehune fishpond is right up the street, so check it out! They offer a Kamaaina rate so if you're local or military make sure you ask for it! We had our infant son with us and they already had a pack n play with a crib bumper, blanket and receiving blanket set up for us, all of it was clean and safe which meant a lot to me. If you like cats make sure you check out the resident kittens they're really friendly!

I stayed here for three days. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were okay - but they were clean which I appreciated. It is little off the main area of LIhue but you can walk there in about 20 minutes. Their pool is tiny but you do get a great view of the mountains. They have breakfast in the morning which was ok but it's free so you can't complain. They have free wi-fi but it doesn't reach to your rooms. You get the best reception out in the common area. It's a great place for the bargain you get.

We found this via the internet and were a bit skeptic considering rate is $99 per night. It is a very quaint inn with a family run vibe. Rooms are clean with all the necessary amenities....and you can't beat the prize. A bit off the beaten path which just adds to the charm. Looking forward to staying there next year

This is my new favorite Kauai hotel. The reason? NO CROWD, NO RESORT FEES. To all the people complaining about not having a corkscrew supplied for free at your demand or closet doors that don't slide right or noisy air conditioners or noisy park across the street. THANK YOU. I can now stay in this beautiful gem of a neighborhood hotel in peace. I mean only a handful of guests all week. A couple nights all to ourselves!! Our room (302) has the most amazing patio with mountain view. It's the best at night. 'The warm wind blowing the stars around', the palm fronds softly swaying, the distant night birds. It's magic. The best thing is the pool. Yes, it's older and only 3 feet deep but the view from inside the pool is to be experienced. Do not skip the pool. You can swim in the pool all night long if you are quiet. They don't care. The breakfast is fine. English muffins and pineapple and oranges. The coffee sucks. I mean they grow the stuff here so why isn't it fresh? Even the management had outside coffee on the desk. The park across the street had a party. A graduation party on a Saturday night. It was heard but I feel it added to the neighborhood vibe. Just run your air at night you won't hear anyone else or any roosters. Also, we had the most amazing pineapple upside down cake and sweet potato pie from the party the next morning at the breakfast. The hotel worker said we should have stopped by the party. That's aloha. Those baked items happened to be cooked by a cook from a well loved egg cafe in town and they were amazing. We loved the huge flat screen tv, the drive by the small boat harbor to the hotel. Yes, it's an industrial area road leading to the hotel and it's interesting. Not a tiki lined sugar coated road. This is real Kauai. Just up the same road (just left from the hotel) is the Menehuene Fish Pond. It's seriously one of the most beautiful spots on Kauai and it's a block away. A royal spot with few visitors. The microwave and fridge are great. Our room also was steps away from the BBQ area. Lighted at night. 2 large CLEAN gas grills with BBQ tools. A variety of dishes are available in the breakfast area along with 24 hour juice, tea, icy lemon water and coffee. This is a HOTEL. In a real Kauai neighborhood with real Kauai Aloha. If you are spoiled rotten stay away from here. Thank you.

This place was perfect for my husband and me. We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay while we celebrated our honeymoon and we didn't care that it wasn't a high-end resort because we were not planning to be at our hotel at all during the day. Why go broke for amenities you don't plan on using? All we needed was a comfy bed at night. The fridge and microwave were great for our drinks and late night snacks. I agree that the location was not quite what we expected, but it is a great place because it's quiet and laid back. The staff was very friendly and our room was cleaned every day when we got back. If you want room service and all of that then this definitely is not the place for you.

Conveniently located within 10 minutes of the Lihue airport. They offer clean, spacious rooms and complementary breakfast which includes an assortment of delicious fruit. The people working at the front desk go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. When we first checked in, they lent us a guide book on Kauai. And one night when we needed the washer/dryer after the laundry room hours were over, they were very accommodating. Was the perfect place for us to recharge after a day of sightseeing/hiking!

Let's just talk about customer service for a moment. Of course a great hotel needs to do what they say, but every now and then... you need a little extra. That little something that sets you back a moment. I have heard it called the "Wow" factor before. Well, that's what the Kauai Inn Resort means to us. They went above and beyond when we needed a little help. There willingness, flexibility, and ability to help us was simply amazing. With people taking care of guests the way Kauai Inn Resort does, to stay there again is a "non-decision". They made friends for life out of us with their simple, kind, and gracious service. Enjoy, you'll love it. Five Star Rating? Uh... Yes, without question.

Quite a cute hideaway. Beautiful grounds. Friendly innspeople. Breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee and cakes was perfect and was perfect for a light breakfast. Very close to the airport. Clean but in need of some loving repairs and heat for the pool.
