Restaurant temporarily closed but the bar is open, stop by and make friendly conversation with the hotel manager, Michael, some of the locals that work on the property (ask David about the flora on the grounds), and relaxed hotel guests. Nice spot to catch a sunset. Come Friday night for the luau & live music. See clear across the channel to Lana'i.

Unhappy with the food poisoning I received here at the restaurant. I had three days of runs and no eating thanks to Hotel Molokai.

We ate here because it's about the only place to eat if you're staying in town! Needless to say, you pay for that monopoly! We went on a saturday night and had drinks at the bar first...our bartender was awesome! She made the best Mint Chocolate Love shots! Like drinking a Thin Mint! So ono! We had the opakapaka and the hawaiian plate for dinner. All was good, but you def pay for it (~$25 for a plate). The Mai Tais are REALLY GOOD too! Great entertainment/hula on Saturday night! :)

OMG! This place is simply awesome! Yes, I will admit that the food is just okay, nothing special. Ate breakfast one morning and late night dinner on a couple other occasions. Really can't complain because there really is not much else in the immediate area. Besides, I came here mostly for the bar and entertainment which this place is known for. Lovely view of Lana'i Island from the bar and lounge area. The best sunsets that I have seen in a long time. They have live music every night here and the musicians are very talented and very outgoing! The staff at the bar are great and a lot of the customers that frequent the bar are residents of other nearby condos that are the friendliest people I ever met! They go out of their way to greet you, talk story and some even bought drinks for my friend and I! If you ever head down to Molokai, you gotta check out this place!

The ambiance at Hotel Molokai is great as well as the wait staff. My issue is with the quality of food for the price you pay. I had the eggplant parmesan which consisted of one slice of eggplant breaded and fried and put on top of a pile of noodles and covered with spaghetti sauce that tasted a lot like Ragu. For $16 I expected more. The Friday night sing along is great so go, have a drink by the beach but if you want good food head to Kualapuu Cookhouse for dinner. The view isn't as nice but the food is ohhhhh so much better.

Stayed here for a week. As far as the room, I was a bit annoyed that we had to pay extra for air conditioning (we're in 2015) but ok. Two of the seven nights I had to battle a cockroach/waterbug, but accepted it for what it was since I was on an island. As far as the hospitality and the manager, I would rate it as exceptional. Everyone was warm and welcoming and the location and views are breathtaking and relaxing. However, the food on the island is horrid. There is no restaurant which I still don't understand why. Beach tree properties need to get with it. I understand that people want to preserve "old Hawaii" on the island but I don't agree. You definitely need a car to get around. I'd probably visit again but for a shorter stay. Met some good people and new friends there during my stay.

Perks - One of the few restaurants open after 8pm, they've got live music, and the drinks are cheap compared to Oahu. (Paddler's is cheaper if all you like is a drink.) The menu is okay and the food is just okay. The servers are nice, but really don't expect to get in and out. Just enjoy the view of the ocean and Lanai! The portions were really large, much larger than expected. To me, it was a little pricey for the quality of the food. This place is a last resort, but decent.

Basic and rustic. Rooms a bit shabby; clean in the middle but the corners need a good sweeping. Restaurant is adequate, bar is fine, lots of music a night but after ten PM it quiets down considerably. I had no trouble with the noise and i was staying in the Oahu Wing just behind the pool area.

Restaurant has been closed for 2+ years following huge fire. Finally they have permits to rebuild (July 2013) and management says they are rebuilding imminently. Meanwhile visitors and guests can enjoy light meals and Maitais by the pool and live music Friday afternoons 4 to 6. (Hawai'ian elders, ukelele, slack key guitar, hula, vocals.)

The Hawaiian Plate had a good variety but way overpriced for the low quality food.

Four of us stopped here yesterday, we took the ferry over from Maui to spend the day cycling on Molokai. We stopped by the hotel for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. Food was good, we had omelets and other egg dishes. Their pancakes were lovely, with banana and macadamia nuts. My coffee was cold but the waitress was good about replacing it with a hot cup. After our ride we stopped by the bar for drinks and as other reviewers said, it was a very friendly place with a good bartender. We liked the vibe of this place and would go back. It's Molokai after all, not a lot of choice, but that's part of it's charm.

Coconut shrimp was good, pretty much the best view you could get... but really, crystal light lemonade?

Normally a review of a hotel restaurant would be fair to middlin, especially one on a far away island, not frequented as much by tourists, but this is an exception. Our three meals thus far at the Hotel Molokai have been just awesome. I am, in fact, in the midst of enjoying a steaming hot bowl of creamy and thoroughly delicious seafood chowder. The traditional Hawaiian platter we had last night that included a very traditional but completely scrumptious Kahlua pork, was divine. We can't wait to enjoy a meal every day we're on this incredible island of Molokai!

way overpriced and not very good. but, it's one of the few places on the island open late so, i guess theres not much of a choice. don't splurge on seafood, stick with cheaper basics. seafood tasted funky, rubbery. stick with basics. or opt for pizza if their still open that late.
