Good food on Molokai is very hard to find. The reviews were not great for this restaurant so we were worried. We both got the Molokai burger, his with meat and mine with a veggie patty. Burger, cheese, lettus, Terri sauce, BBQ sauce, mayo and onion straws. This pregnant lady was very happy and very full at the end of the meal.

If there was a Teddy's on Moloka'i, this would be it! Fortunate that a friend of mine wanted to fly to Moloka'i just to have lunch and we decided on Moloka'i Burger. The inside of this place looks exactly like Teddy's Bigger Burger. Very clean and spacious which made the dining experience very pleasant. Moloka'i Burger is located just at the beginning of Kaunakakai or at the Mile 0 marker of Moloka'i.. From the airport it is about 6 miles so plan on ground transportation if you are flying to Moloka'i, the island is bigger than you think! I had the Paniolo Burger Meal which was the a Moloka'i Beef patty with BBQ sauce and an onion ring. It was very good. I actually prefer this burger to Teddy's. The fries were thick cut and cooked with a nice crisp to them.. They offer you free fries sauce which i suspect is ketchup, mayo and hot sauce. It's pretty addicting if you ask me. You're gonna spend about 10-14 for a meal here, maybe a little more, but for Moloka'i what did you expect? The dollar menu? UHHHH, no. Come on their gas is 5.31/gal for regular. It's very reasonable and they take credit card! The ladies who serviced us were very local, very friendly, and very professional. The have a drive thru that they service so their attention is divided between the counter and there. But for us first timers, they were more than willing to answer any questions.. The only problem I had was with their menu, I wish they gave descriptions of what was in their more creatively named burgers.. I suspect if we ever have a flying session and do lunch on Moloka'i again we will be dining here again! Moloka'i Burger, She Go.

When coming back home to Molokai this is one of my spots for a great burger. My wife and I have no complaints when it comes to it's burgers.

First, we are long time visitors to Molokai. We love the fact that Molokai Burger offers veggie burgers which are quite tasty. Not even California's In 'N Out offers a vegetarian burger option like this. One suggestion, however--please turn on your air conditioner! It's way too hot to enjoy a meal inside. We used to love sitting in your air-conditioned restaurant at lunch time. I have a feeling if it was nice and cool inside it could increase your business, too! :)

Solid Burger FOOD: I just had a classic burger with fries, but it was a solid choice. The portions were decent, the veggies were fresh and it filled the spot. SERVICE: It's a fast food joint, but with friendly and speedy service for sure. PRICE: More expensive than you'd might expect on another island... but it's not another island.

One of the few chosen burger joints on the island of Molokai. While you have the option of sailing back or flying back to either Maui or Oahu for food, staying on Molokai to support the local economy made the decision to try a burger here most easy. Located in the town of Kaunakaki, Molokai Burger serves up one of the most tasty burgers I have tasted in recent memory. Forget Burger King or even McDonalds, they don't compare anymore. Molokai Burger uses homegrown beef grown and bred on the island, which makes it much special. Although the presentation seems just like any thing you would see at any other fast food joint, it comes with the territory I suppose. Similar to basically what you would find in L&L Drive Inn or somewhere in that industry category, it is what it is. Simple burgers and fries. I ultimately got the regular cheeseburger and fries. No soda pop for me. Pricing here can be expensive when you really compare to other restaurants and places you recognize and have been to in the past. However, you are on Molokai, so it's expected. I didn't think this place was overtly stellar, but it was nice to eat here. The service was good with a smile. It's nice to know that you are appreciated while traveling and you make a stop at their establishment, instead of being a machine drone working. The dining area was nice and clean, but we opted to take our meals on the road and do more sightseeing on the eastern edge of the island. What more can I say about this place. It's an average establishment that you can sink your teeth into, but I wanted to explore more around Kaunkakai during the brief time I had here, restaurants and eateries before making a sound judgement call. In the end, Molokai Burger is one of those places where you cant expect more than what McDonald's or Burger King would. But then again, you are in paradise / Molokai, so it's worth coming here and enjoying a burger or two with friends and a gorgeous sunset. Support local! B

Molokai is a difficult island to love, and an even more difficult place to find good food. With a tiny population and a struggling economy, most places struggle to stay open. So it was surprising to me to find Molokai Burger (and even more surprising that it was still open the next time I went to the Friendly Isle). Having had a terrible experience on Lanai (at Canoe's), I was hesitant to try another small island burger. It was even more surprising when I walked in and there wasn't a single other customer in the place. Maybe it was because of the drive-through. The beef was surprisingly good and I have to say that the Molokai Burger (no onions) was tastier than anything I ever had at The Counter in Kahala or Teddy's Bigger Burger. Everything had a wholesome, fresh taste and all the ingredients melded well. If you've read my other reviews of burger joints you know I'm a french fry snob; this place had great fries, though I'm not as big a fan of the 'secret sauce' (which looks like thousand island dressing?) they give you. Although I should be eating at the only Subway in town when I visit the island, I sure hope that Molokai Burger survives and is still around the next time I'm there.

Really good burger, tasted like they were in the olden days before fast food took over.

Really cheap prices and the meat isn't too bad. Not very greasy but the bread was a little heavy. Relaxing place though. No ac.

Had a regular cheese burger, fries, and a small drink here. They have a special sauce that goes on the burgers and comes with the fries. It's a mix of ketchup, horseradish, and mayonaise with maybe finely chopped pickles and was quite tasty. The burger was good and the fries were even better. The next time I go I'll try a char-broiled Molokai burger. The wait staff was not overly friendly but after smiling a lot at them I got a small smile in return. We had heard mixed messages about travel to Molokai as far as how we would be welcomed (or not welcomed). But so far people are nice enough.

Yes, it is good. Propbably the best place on Molokai. But if youve been to Molokai, you know thats not saying much. Good enough place to eat. I actually did love my order and so did my son. The special sauce was amazing!!

Given Molokai's reputation as the Most Hawaiian Island -- unspoiled by rampant development -- I never expected to find a drive-through fast food place. Boy, was I delighted with what I found. I had the Molokai Burger, which is basically a California cheeseburger with their own special sauce. It was amazing -- cooked perfectly, fresh beef, and very satisfying. The fries were served with a side of the special sauce, and were crisp and delicious. Let's just put it this way: I was on Molokai for three days. I visited Molokai Burger twice. The drive through service was a little on the slow side, but hey, it's Molokai. What's your rush?

This was my first time to Moloka'i Burger. I had the Paniolo Burger with cheese (bbq sauce and onion ring) and it was alright. I don't know if the beef is local or not but it was on the thin side.

Decent and decently priced, relative to the island's other popular take-out/eat-in/drive-through places. I came for a quick take-out order on the way back to where I'm staying, just as Hurricane Flossie was bearing down. (The power went out minutes later, so I'm glad I went early!) Fairly empty, more employees than customers, but maybe because of the impending storm. A few regulars came in and ordered burgers with sweet potato fries, which I'd not thought to try, instead getting their ($10) dinner of Molokai bacon cheeseburger (thick, medium-well - wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, but it was fine). Came with a thick burger, several slabs of bacon, cheese, and a 1000-islandish bit of dressing. Normal fries, popping hot but basic fries. Along with next-door Molokai Pizza Cafe and a few other local favorites for more diverse food (Peddler's, the Cookhouse) this place is regular go-to for lots of folks, convenient location, friendly staff. Nice little seating area outside (and lots inside) as well as a drive-through window.

Had breakfast there. The sausage mcmuffin clone was pretty tasty as was the hash browns. The omelette wasn't all that big. Pretty ok food for reasonable prices but nothing that special.

  • Trudi K.

The hamburger buns are tasty and so is their special sauce. Most of what they cook comes to you pretty greasy though and they sometimes put too much sauce on their burgers causing it to make food difficult to eat without getting it everywhere. Most of the staff is friendly. Service can be slow even in drive-thru.

Fast food. That's what it is so don't expect something fancy. That being said, their burgers and fries are good. Small soda is exactly that. Service was good and the food was made fresh. I had a Paniolo burger which has bbq sauce and a couple of onion rings. I didn't notice until I sat down but they also have the same burger but with soda straw fried onions. That might work better since my onion came out in the first bite. My wife had the Molokai cheeseburger which was really good. (I had one bite.) she said it reminded her of the Snow White Drive Inn she lived near when she was a kid. She asked me to add that "they had excellent burgers!!"

When I think of Moloka`i, I think of deer meat and fish because the people are awesome hunters, fishers, and farmers. The island of Moloka`i doesn't have a lot of restaurant options because the people use the forest and ocean as their refrigerator, which is awesome. I don't usually think of restaurants, but Molokai Burger is one that I keep on going back to. Molokai Burger is conveniently located in Kaunakakai town as an affordable option for your eating out cravings. They have fast food choices such as a variety of burgers and fried chicken, as well salads and full meals. I ordered a Molokai cheeseburger, which was a basic cheeseburger with a special sauce (mostly ketchup and mayo, I think). It didn't look very big, but along with a side order of fries, I was satisfied with my meal. The burger was $5.10, and the fries were $2.50. I was visiting with a friend who is gluten-free and soy-free, so you wouldn't usually think that a burger place would have options for her, but she was able to order a salmon salad, which looked really good. I wanted to try some, but I didn't want to steal any of her gluten-free happiness. The clientele is a mix of both locals and tourists, and there is free wifi and air conditioning, which was pretty nice considering that the summer is HOT and there's not always cell phone service around the island.

You're not going to find a lot of restaurants on Molokai. Molokai Burger is one of the five or so you'll find on the island, and in this incarnation I use the term "restaurant" loosely here, folks. This is a local cheeseburger/hot dog/french fry/grindz meets casual American kinda joint. Think a whitewash, diner-ish ambiance, raw burger patties formed by hand and thrown on the grill. You order, get a number, wait a bit, they call said number, you enjoy casual eats. Molokai Burger rocks a basic but delicious cheeseburger! It feels sort of like a local Culver's, if that means anything to you... Cute & right in the heart of "downtown," too!

No... just no. We ate here for dinner on our first night in Molokai. I ordered a ramen burger which ended up being tasteless. My daughter ordered the hamburger kids meal and half way through the meal she became sick and ran to the bathroom. After examining her burger, it was extremely pink in the middle. She ended up having a 2 day stomach ache and didn't want to eat anything for the remainder of our trip. She was pretty miserable. The only good thing about this place was the fries w/ the sauce.

Overall, it was a medium level of goodness. I had a fresh Ono sandwich which was mildly fishy, under-seasoned and definitely under-grilled (by a lad who looked like he might be underage), but then I slapped my onion rings unto the sandwich with some Fry Sauce from their condiment area and lo and behod, it was delicious! Gotta be creative when the food really isn't hacking it. My pal had a breaded chicken sandwich and complained of flavorlessness the whole time. He refused the "drown it in Fry Sauce" suggestion. His loss. (The onion rings were TOO crispy, btw.) Notable: There was a charming woman with gray hair who we found to be of lovely disposition, and an older caucasian male who attempted friendliness but was only half successful...but a point for effort, though it seemed minuscule. The rest of the staff were Hawaiian natives and couldn't have cared any less that we even walked through the door.

Nothing bad to say of this place. The food is made upon your order so it's nice and fresh and warm when you eat. I had the chicken with onion sandwich and loved it! Their French fries and tarter tot portions were small but I was full after eating everything. My husband had the double cheese burger and liked it as well. Good service as well. Located at mile marker 0

These are definitely the best burgers on Moloka'i. Using locally raised grass-fed beef for all their burgers, they do burgers right. My favorite items on the menu are the BBQ Bacon Burger, the mushroom burger, the Teri Chicken Salad (or plate) and the sweet potato fries with their special fry sauce. Their fried chicken is also excellent and probably one of the best fried chickens on the island. I appreciate that they have really friendly staff, clean bathrooms and free wifi. The only thing I wish they had was an unsweetened Ice Tea option (they only have a sweetened one) and they seem to never have onion rings, which is a major bummer. But for sure the one thing that is keeping this from being a five star review is that they stopped serving their cole slaw. I heard it was because the cost was too high (really? Cabbage is like the cheapest vegetable around) but I'd be okay if they raised the price a bit and offered it again. The reason I like it isn't because I want to eat it by itself. It's because their pulled pork sandwich went up to a whole new level of deliciousness when they used the cole slaw in it. It was AMAZINGLY good. But now, without the cole slaw? It's just okay. Please bring the cole slaw back! Your pulled pork sandwich isn't the same without it!

I had the chicken teri platter. It was great! Service was friendly and they let me bring my bike in while I ate. Good eats and it was nice to enjoy the a/c for a while after a long ride. Thanks!

WOW!!! The food is exceptionally good. I ordered the boca burger with cheese not expecting to have one of the best burgers. Soft, delicious bun and fresh, flavorful toppings. The sauce is perfect. My husband ordered the cheeseburger which vanished into thin air... I think he liked it. Very clean burger joint with good music! Highly recommended :)

I had the paniolo burger. It was very flavorful and delicious, but the onion ring it had on it was firm and required some serious gnawing from the teeth. Their fries were crunchy and warm on the outside with soft insides. Mmmm. My mom had a chicken sandwich and had to smother it in ketchup just to get any flavor. Besides that upset, everything else was good! One of the more affordable meals we had while on the island. Their sodas are extra small and are 75 cents to refill. They do take credit cards, so nice change of pace there. They also have free wifi! Better wifi than Hotel Molokai had. Somebody in front of us had spring rolls put on their tray. I didn't see spring rolls on the menu, but after seeing them, I sure wanted some of my own.

After about a 15 minute wait for my burger I noticed the older woman who was making french fries was scratching her ear, her nose, and pushing up her glasses with her gloved hands. That was bad enough until she started eating french fries out of the cooked French fry reservoir, she never changed her gloves before she resumed preparing food for the patrons. In the meantime while my hamburger was cooking they had placed my fries on a tray underneath the fan to be getting cold as I was waiting for my hamburger to finish cooking. When they called my number I asked them to replace my fries with some fresh hot ones and although they did do it, it was grudgingly. Believe it or not there's more... They have a TV in the dining area which was playing an adult movie. There was a full on sex scene on the screen in front of children on the dining area. While one family didn't mind there was a second family who very much did mind and had to get management to come and shut the TV off. I have been to the pizza/cafe next door to this hamburger joint I suggest you go there.

We ordered a ramen burger and a fish burger. The hamburger patty and the noodle bun were too dry. The fish burger was better, although not the best.

During my visit to Molokai, I actually ate here twice. I had burgers both times. The first time was the Molokai Cheeseburger and second visit was Molokai mushroom burger. I liked both of them. I even chowed down on the husband's fries and liked them, which is weird for me as I'm not a big fry fan. They give you a dipping sauce which I suspect is ketchup and mayo mixed together, but what do I know? The large drinks are HUGE... 44 ounces! I also really like that they carry both Pepsi products and Coke products. KUDOS for that! The staff was pretty friendly - not overly so, but appropriately so. The location is quite clean, including the bathrooms. We got a kick out of the fact that the decor was so In-N-Out-esque! They have free wi-fi and a drive through. Definitely a good addition to the limited dining options on Molokai. I recommend!

At mile zero, this was the local hangout. It looked like the hamburgers are pulled out of the freezer and plopped down on the grill; I also saw them put patties in one of those rolling toaster things. We arrived just in time, because within minutes of sitting down to our table to wait for our lunch (even though the meals are made to order, it took about 15 minutes to get lunch), it became packed to standing room only. It was not the best hamburger I ever had, but not bad. Just average. No military or other discounts.

  • Tracy W.

Complete crap. All our burgers buns were soaked black with grease. Fries were super soggy. We ate right away at the dinner and still it was all soggy. They stare at you while you look at the menu it's so uncomfortable. Drive thru takes forever. Cashiers have a hard time giving change lol

The walls look like California's In n' Out restaurants and the burgers, well, they aren't as good as In n Out but they are good burgers. Good, not great. Some of them are a complete mess and other's are not a hit but just a miss. My best advice is to keep things simple by ordering cheeseburger or maybe even a mushroom burger. Their teriburger is good but other places have it better. They have a BBQ burger which is a complete mess. One extra star because of their space. They have a dinning area where you can eat in an air conditioned room and bum around and relax. However, the tables are filthy and sticky. The owners need to encourage their employees to do a walk-through every 30 minutes with a wet towel. Personally, Molokai Burger actually holds the award for the worst burger I ever had. Whatever you do, do not order the Ramen Burger. They deep fry their ramen as their buns which completely ruins the texture of the ramen itself and as a result, the soft, textured ramen buns tastes like really stale crackers. I've had ramen burgers before but this and the quality of the meat gives Molokai Burgers my award for the worst burger I've ever had. Ok, enough said.

Local In N Out burger (west coast) or Five Guys (east coast) although they put MAYO on everything thing and NOWHERE as good as the mainland places. Decent food again for Molokai. Fries were thicker and ok. Nothing special about this place and not any better burgers than you could grill at your place on Molokai assuming you had a grill. For the cost, you could grill your own burgers with the fixins for about the same cost.

We have been coming to Molokai yearly for over 12 years. We never know what the restaurant situation will be. It's a depressed economy that seems to prefer it that way. Molokai Burger is a newer enterprise and hopefully they will survive. Very clean and looks like an island In and Out. Not really a fast food place as they cook it when it is ordered. That would explain a slow drive through. Burgers are quite good. Fries also. They were out of the pulled pork but I will try another time. They also have a more expanded dinner menu, baby back ribs, Kalbi ribs, etc. They also accept credit cards; a novelty at Molokai eateries.

Ordered the mushroom burger and fries, delicious food great service and it's a lot more cleaner than the molokai drive inn, will eat again i have heard the ramen burger is pretty good. Great place to stop and have a bite or order out with the islands only drive thru.

    (4)
  • Michelle K.

It's not amazing but the burgers are decent. For a quick meal, this place is one of the best on the island. The burger patty is heated up once you order it so it's not fast service, but it's quick. The service was good. They were nice and helpful to us. And the prices were good for this island. The special sauce is exactly like "fry sauce" in Utah. People in Utah obsess over it. I don't like it though. And it contains dairy for those that do a dairy-free diet. Overall, support the local Molokai economy by eating here for lunch or dinner but don't expect to be wow'd here.
