We come here for the Caramel Fried Ice Cream and Da Kine. It is delish! Although the portion size looks a little smaller compared to before they remodeled.

Delicious and extremely sweet staff. Loco moco was huge and tasty. If I lived in Hi, I would be here all the time.

The food tasted horribly, super salty and worst of all a small was dish with no one in the place took 18 mins. What dish took so long a mini won ton min. Stay away from this place.

I'm easy to please. HUGE PORTIONS, perfect. LOW-ish PRICE, nice. MEAT, amazing. But at some point you have to realize, deep fried covered with sauce served over rice is the safe road, but it's incredibly bad for you. If you're looking to shed a few pounds, DON'T GO HERE. If you're happy with who you are, then by all means, come here and go HAM, but you might eventually turn into one :-/

You can get lunch for breakfast which was pretty great! Even at 7:00am in the morning. Taking stars off because I called in my order 35 minutes before showing up and it was still not ready. Ps it was a regular fried saimin plate. Nothing big at all.

I am a sucker for great customer service. I ordered two medium pans; one chicken katsu and one BBQ chicken for my daughter's birthday party. The young women at the shop were very patient with my constant calls to see if the food was ready. And, when I arrived at the store, they were very pleasant with me: provided chopsticks, and a worker walked me to the car with the other box of food. AWESOME! Oh, and it's a plus when the katsu and BBQ chicken are a hit. Yum.

Stopped to get the loco moco. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. I will have to say that this is not the best loco I have had but it was well done. The meat and gravy were really good. The fried rice was not as good. It wasn't bad but had no spam or sausage in it and wasn't "fried" very much. Almost as if it were rushed. But it was good and well prepared, served hot. Definitely worth the stop. By comparison, the Koa Pancake House just a few doors down has much better fried rice but the meat and gravy weren't as seasoned well. Give it a try, it's a matter of taste, it is a good loco moco.

I've been coming here since they first opened a long, long time ago. I even worked here when I was in high school. The food is the same as any other local food establishment. The workers here are okay. Sometimes on "good" days they actually don't look like they got a stick up their...well you know... They really don't look like they like their job and when they take your order they look at you like "hurry up already". At least they don't dress like they're working at a hostess bar like L&L at the strip mall next door. I come for the food not for the environment.

Sorry but lacking in food quality & flavor here. I used to come here alot because my son love his bbq chicken plus I always eat his leftovers plate, but this time the food I ordered take out as usual got home opened it up & it looked alot less appetizing than usual not enough bbq flavor it looked as thought it was quick cooked. Customer service is always plesant there but it didn't make up for the food quality or taste. What happen to you guys? I once loved coming here but for now i'm switching elsewhere. They surely went downhill don't waste your time go elsewhere.

Ono Loco Moco! Every time charred perfectly...gravy so good over rice. Go after school. Show your student id for a discount. Everyone so friendly too. Loco Moco supports our school and community. See wall photos. Mahalo Reynold!

Came here for a quick late lunch... the staff was very friendly & greeted you with a smile. What you see is what you pay hmm that's great! The prices are reasonably price. Order at 147pm the wait is kind of long for food on the down side... but understanding since they were people before us, but it seems to me that it looks like only one cook but the food came out in a timely manner and delivered to the table =) I got the mochiko chicken (mini plate) with a small raspberry ice tea it came with decent amount of chicken to rice and mac salad ratio. The taste was yum, the chicken wasn't dry or burnt it was fried to perfection. The mac salad wasn't to bland or overly dressed in mayonnaise but it wasn't the greatest. But no complaints Dad got the fried chicken mini plate he said it was good Mom got the mini garlic shrimp and she devoured it, u had a piece and it was good I mean you can't compare it to like Northshore but it was good For three people 25.50 that's not bad I'm full and satisfied enough said will be coming back if I'm lazy to cook or need a fix of chicken lol

Totally agree with May, they bring the food to your table. Very nice service and good casual food. The workers are happy so that helps huge.

I've been coming here for years and I love their garlic chicken I'm glad they haven't changed their recipe.

  • Terry L.

Everybody loves Loco Moco garlic chicken! SPOILER ALERT!!: not Kapolei's Loco Moco. We ordered a small pan of it for a potluck and when I asked if they could put the sauce on the side, they said NO! Picked up the chicken and it was soggy with too much sauce! By the time we ate at the potluck, it was even worse! The reason I asked for the sauce on the side is because I ate there a few days ago and the garlic chicken had too much sauce on it then, as well. Go to Mililani Loco Moco or any other than Kapolei. You'll love the garlic chicken!

  • Stacey T.

Chili loco is ono. And so is the Garlic fries. The staff is always nice and they bring your food to you. Once in a while it's loud due to kids being in here. But that wont stop from always coming back to eat here.

Sweet workers and great food. They bring the food to you when your order is done and the workers are very friendly. Will be coming to this one more often than the one in my area.

What do I like about this place? Their menu is pretty good and while I was waiting for my food, I was surprised that she brought my plate to the table which I wasn't expecting. Cool. I had the Denver omelette. It was tasty and filled with luncheon meat, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and some other stuff. It was just the right size to fill me up and still be able to work. Next time I am down there I'll probably hit them up again.

Definitely get your moneys worth! Big plate lunches!! Great customer service!! My favorite is the Teriyaki steak and any of the combination plates. The curry plates are also good, even though I cannot finish the whole thing. Overall I prefer this place my must go for plate lunches in the Kapolei area.

Loco Moco Kapolei Yes, all the dishes on the huge menu is delicious, but come enjoy the great customer service! The Loco Moco employees greet you with a smile and a "Welcome!" They are very patient while you scan the many choices on their electronic menu boards and even bring your order to your table! The employees keep their restaurant clean and well stocked. Upon departure, they even make time to call-out a "Thank you",..now that's customer service! Good job, Reynold!

I remember coming here in High School to get the Katsu Curry, and it still hasen't changed the restaurant still looks the same and the Katsu Curry still taste as great. I really can't comment on the environment since it still looks the same after all these years. Service is excellent and quick, but the past part is the Drink sizes. The have the biggest large cup i've seen. If you live in Kapolei you definitely know this place.

  • Grace B.

Love the renovation. I'm totally addicted to their Garlic Chicken and my daughter loves the Chicken Katsu. Prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of their food. And don't forget to order the Fried Ice Cream ... it's so onolicious!

Always come here if I need a plate lunch fix. Service is great and the food is delicious every time I go. Very consistent

For the sheer fact that I was lazy one afternoon, I decided to give this place a try. Upon entering this little shack, I asked the waitress, "So what's good here?" I figured she'd say "loco moco" hence the name. She replied...combination plates, breakfast special (which is available all day). You basically get two eggs, rice, and a choice of meat for 5 bucks and some change. Not bad. I went with their Combination plate so I could try an assortment of meats, namely, teriyaki beef, mochiko chicken, and furikake fish. Let's start with the good. Mochiko chicken good. My daughter practically ate all of it leaving me to wonder truly how good it was since I only had a bite. Gggrrr...! Onward. The furikake fish was nicely fried. The flavor of the crust was great, but there was something about the fish that I can't quite put my finger on...was it old? I dunno. Something was "fishy." I saved the best for last! The teriyaki beef was rubber beef. I kid you not! I broke a knife trying to cut it. I punctured a hole on the bottom of the styrofoam plate several times. I finally gave up and let him win. This sucker refused to be eaten! FINE! He won. I give up! The flavor was fine...just couldn't bite into it! I looked around to see if anyone was watching the free comedy show I was providing. I also looked around to see if anyone had the same problem. Nope...then again...no one ordered the teriyaki beef. Noted. Order anything besides fish and beef. I also ordered "da kine" which is two scoops of vanilla ice cream, slush puppy in your choice of red or blue flavors, li hing mui syrup, and heaping mound of whipped cream. What I got was old vanilla ice cream, tons of cherry red slush, no li hing anything, and a whole can of whipped cream, topped with red syrup. Normally I don't order this kinda thing, but it was a small celebration of my daughter's tear free 1st day of preschool and that calls for a celebration no matter how small. She vigorously ate it, while I just tried to calculate the millions of articles that advised against this monstrous bowl of naughtiness. I guess it's not bad if you share it with..oh 4 people on a hot day. I would come back to try their other stuff. Lunch time was busy ....so these folks must be coming for something good. I will tell you one thing. If I'm looking for some dirty construction workers...i know where to go. Loco Moco Drive Inn has no shortage of blue collar local boys looking for some grub at lunchtime...that's for dang sure!

Sh!tty service! How do u hand a paying customer the rag to clean off the table?!?! My husband was nice enough to do it! Then start sweeping the floor with dust and crap flying around as we eat. That was the final straw. NEVER AGAIN. NASTY!!!

  • Marc M.

Newly renovated! Has awesome new choices and staff is really great! This is by far my favorite loco Moco out of allllllll the ones of the ones I've been to on this island! All servers are polite!

I've been a resident in the Kapolei area since 1994 and used to love this place. After tonight's experience I don't plan to go back any time soon. I ordered two regular plates, an order of Gau Gee and 2 cheeseburgers. From order to delivery was 28 minutes (got to love those time stamped receipts). I do like the flavor of the cheeseburger but definitely not worth the wait. I think it would've been okay if I didn't see three people that ordered after me get their food first. When my order was delivered there sure was no apologies for the wait. It's nice to know though they could still talk story and laugh about things while you sit waiting for the food. After reading other reviews, poor customer service has become the norm. Since this is how they choose to treat their customers I will just spend my money elsewhere. Thanks for the past, but sure can say there is no future visits for me.

Service is great and even the prices. The food on the other hand needs improvement. Found something foreign in my hotcakes and it wasn't even edibe. But overall... great environment with an "Aloha" feeling.

  • Cy K.

Customer service here is always good. I love that the cashiers walk out your plates to you! ;) They have the same menu as any other loco moco, but not all foods are cooked the same =| Example: their garlic chicken is horrible!! I always can't seem to remember which loco moco has the better chicken and I always end up getting the garlic chicken from here forgetting that THIS is the one that's horrible! The chicken isn't really chicken! They give you pieces of fried skin soaked in garlic sauce. There is hardly any meat! And if there is meat its rubbery and hard! They might as well name this plate "crispy fried garlic chicken skin" As I sat there eating skin, I heard a lot of people ordering the garlic chicken. Maybe they like it that way but I'd rather eat pork grinds than that!!

  • Nichole F.

Personally, this Loco Moco has got to be my favorite out of all. Reasoning being is that the girls that work there are so friendly! I love the menu there compared to the others. I also like how they would deliver the food to your table. Even if I'm from Waipahu, I don't mind driving all the way to this Loco Moco.

Don't eat at the kapolei loco moco. The owner rips off their customers. I paid $7.75 for a regular hambuger steak and only got 1 scoop of rice. The worst part about the whole experience is that when I ask the cashier about the plate having 2 scoops rice, she actually had the nerve to lie to me and tell that it is 2 scoops of rice when I can clearly see that theirbis only 1. I asked to see the manager, and this sloppy looking guy comes out and Asus me Thats wrong. By then, i've run out of patience and ask for my money back. Loco Moco now rips off and I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Go to L&L instead.

Wandering around Kapolei after a long day of shopping, I was pretty hungry. As "the bag carrier" I knew what I was getting into. Push the cart, carry bags, and park the automobile. I kind of threw out there that I wanted something local plate lunch style, so the girlfriend Yelped up Loco Moco Drive Inn on her new phone and off we went. It's located in on of Kapolei's first strip malls. A small little place that is a bit gritty, but those are the best places to find great local food, right?! I ordered one of their meaty specials that had bbq beef, bbq chicken, and a kalbi rib. It comes with a side of mac salad and two scoops of rice. The chicken was really tender and nicely flavored. It was light and not "old" tasting like some restaurants pre-cook their food. This one tasted like it was fresh off the grill and seemingly it probably was. The kalbi ribs were just as tasty, the only drawback being that I got only one. It really left me wanting one more at least. The bbq beef wasn't too good. This one was tough, over cooked, and did seem like it had sat a bit. I also had a sample of my girlfriends mochiko chicken and it was pretty good as well. It had a light mochiko flavor, but was nice and crunchy. Overall, I would definitely stop by again. The parking is plentiful in the strip mall lot.

Okay with a nickname Cy Da Local Guy, I have to check out a place called Loco Moco Drive in in Kapolei. Okay before I continue here is a deep thought. I always wondered why they spell it Loco instead Local. Loco is defined as crazy in spanish. So actually Loco Moco is Crazy Moco. Okay I must be crazy for even thinking about this, alright sorry back to the food. WIth a name like this I better try the Loco Moco right. Nope I was heading to a get together so I wanted something small so I ordered Regular Chicken Katsu Plate for $6.25 (yes I know it doesn't sound small but I didn't eat it all I promise) Okay the chicken Katsu was okay. They gave a lot but the katsu had a lot of breading (I want more meat) and the katsu sauce was bland. So they received a 3 star because if you want a typical plate lunch, then here you go. They have an extensive menu of local food. They have a lot of specials especially for breakfast. In the words of Cypress HIll, "I think I'm going Loco". Well maybe if I'm in Kapolei.

Got the pork chop plate which had two huge pork chops deep fried with brown gravy on the side. Nice place to eat good fast food service. Workers have always been nice and welcoming, one of my favorite places to eat.

  • Joe E.

Best plate lunch I've had in years and great Hawaiian breakfast. If I could I would take a giant back hoe and scoop this place up and drop it on top some mediocre place near my house in Seal Beach if I could. Then I would eat there often, if not more. Maybe I would drop it on one of those nail places we don't need any more of. I would drop it on the Fairy Tea Cottage but then I'd have to find a new place for my quilting group and those buzzies don't take well to change.

I was in the area and my little one was hungry. OK, grew up here so Loco Moco I have eaten before typical local food. It was around 1 or so and they were already cleaning the floors with WATER... mind you they are still open with people in there. OK, whatever order. Ordered the Cheeseburger.... sat inside to wait for food to go outside and eat. OK, people not even 3 minutes the girl walks outside with a salad and I am like I hope that's not mine. Since, shes young you would assume she would remember what I looked like 3 minutes ago... PLUS I was looking right at her. Yes, it was my salad. She walked back in and gave it to me.... AIIII...SOOSSSS!!!! got our food and went outside. Burger was pretty good. Top of my salad dressing was not on right it spilled on my jeans..and the ground... NOT HAPPY!!! Half way finished the owner and worker or whatever comes out with a bucket full of soapy water and says, oh we got to clean that cause management going walk around and see. I am like SO OVER THIS PLACE... I am a country girl and older and refused to let the GHETTO out in front of my little one. Got our things and left. The funny part is my little one says, RUDE... Mom... This place is JUNK!!! LOL!!!! Sorry LOCO MOCO KAPOLEI... FAIL!!!!!!

    (1)
  • Lisa A.

WORST fried rice...ever. $4.50 for a mini which contained miniscule portions of breakfast meat, diced carrots and green onions. That's IT! Very disappointing.

  • Nani C.

"Kapolei" Loco Moco is obviously franchised out. It is understandable to have different cooks, yet they need to use, and stick to a tasty recipe because the food taste different everytime. It is upsetting when it doesn't taste great like the first time you tried it. It isn't good that their food lacks flavor period. The macaroni salad lacks taste all the time. Don't let this location think less of the original "Loco Moco".

  • Masayoshi S.

Came here for lunch with my girl to see this place is newly renovated which was a plus(1star)..the customer service is excellent(2 star)..the wait time for your food is horrible!(-3 stars) **I ordered a katsu curry which was hard n dry and the curry was junk with all the vegetables(potato/carrots) mushy. **my girl got the kalua pig n cabbage which was salty n no flavor. Bad first impression..probably won't be back any time soon

  • Kimberly H.

I got the garlic chicken, hubby got the spicy teri pork...you really can't go wrong. The simple mac salad is good, the Teri pork was better than my chicken, but I was not disappointed. Good stuffs! The spam musubi was not bad either.

  • Steph L.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Wow, we came at 7:45 and the lights were off. They close at 8 so we walked in and they told us they're closed already. Bad business. Bad customer service. Looks like these damn kids just want to go home already. As we were walking out I heard the girl say they turned off the grills already. I sure hope that wasn't the manager that told me they were closed. She definitely shouldn't be the manager!

I went back to Loco Moco Drive Inn after 9 month and the inside looked totally different, which made me think I was at a wrong place! It is completely renovated with nice seating and illuminated brand-new menu on the wall. The food came out very quickly and the girls at the counter were very nice. They are open early and the only good place to eat I found so far in Kapolei. I definitely will be going back often.

  • Woodrow B.

Super, super slow service. Don't come here if you are expecting fast food. We ordered three regular plates and it took well over 30 minutes to get them. Food might be good but I couldn't say because it took so long to get it. Won't be coming back anytime soon. Going to go to a place that has faster service.

    (1)
  • Elisha T.

I ordered a bowl of Loco moco for a quick lunch. The taste was fine but the bowl was smaller than expected for the price we paid (7.50). You should definitely get a plate instead to get decent size portion here.

  • Julianna I.

I don't feel entitled to criticize this establishment, because their (Hawaiian)food is good. The food that is bad though is Hawaiian food in general. Not bad tasting but super bad for you! If this is Hawaiian food, then there should be more obese people in Hawaii. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious but of course it is going to be delicious when the food is all carbs, starch, sugar, fat, and....al ot of it. The portions are just ginormous. Dieters, beware.
