The Saimen Burger This is what I came for. I was very disappointed. It looks as though the saimen bun would have a crunch, but it's far from that. When you might into it, it's just a soft mush. I suppose like eating saimen just formed into a round patty. Not sure how it keeps it's shape, but I'd rather eat my saimen in a bowl with a patty on it. I'm not really sure what the sauce on the burger is, katsu sauce? While the food looks kind of cool, the taste is something to question. I also picked up my usual-kailua pork with cabbage plate. Can't go wrong there, right?

The cashier didn't welcome us nor smile. She said hello in a lower voice, took the order, repeated it and closed the bill. It took about 10 minutes for the order to come out. Only two other customers. Ps: while waiting for the food we were watching the Rachael Ray show on their tv. Interesting tips about the summer. The cashier changed the station to the food network without checking if anyone was watching nor asked. The tv is for the customers or the workers?!?!

My previous reviews said that my past orders of the healthy choice brown rice chicken combo had always been done with the rice sitting on the salad and the chicken separate, but this has been fixed. After it was brought to the attention of Nikki, I got my order right. Thanks, Nikki! :D

Each l n l is not equal. They are 1 name but serve different things. . NOn crinkle fries and lot of batter on Hamburg steaksteak. Nasty. I called and advised the owner and she said each o e is different so don't expect the same food. Well that would be like a McDonald's franchise that served different stuff. The name should mean a source behind its food. Gross and never going back. U suck

The food was good as expected of any L&L as long as it's not spoiled or cooked improperly like other places (another L&L in Kapolei). The customer service was great! The cashier was very friendly, courteous with much aloha present. There were lots of people there at the time, but we got our food in a timely manner. Will definitely be a repeated customer.

Excellent food & service!!! Their garlic chicken & chicken katsu are extremely good. They accept credit card which is very convenient for me. They serve some Chinese foods such as beef broccoli & orange chicken that I always order for my parent. I love L & L for my breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Located across Wal-mart, behind Times Market. Came in here just 5minutes before closing, I could tell the cooks were pissed off, the way they looked at us..PSSH! I don't give a damn! I'm tired of every other fast food, and I'm going to order! They wouldn't want to lose money i'm sure. We ordered Loco moco, and chicken katsu, mini's. Since we were the last ones, we got regular size, guess they would've just thrown it away. Glad they upgraded us! :D We didn't eat inside, even though I wanted too because they were closing and I could just TELL they wanted to go home and get the hell out of there. The food was alright, huge amount given. That customer service though, rude but in the end served us well.

This place is disgusting! Grade F quality at best! In fact I've tried 3 different locations... I hate to say this, but I'd suggest Panda Express over this place (that's a low blow) service is crappy-unacceptable. The meat was so bad I went vegetarian for a month after wards, Seriously, I did! Do not go here!

The Good: Serving size - you hungry, you will leave filled. Choices - if you are looking for local flavor, you'll find it here. Cost - moderate and reasonable considering what it would cost and time to put the same together. Location - well easy to find right off the main hwy The Bad. Quality - maybe its you get what you pay for but that doesn't hold true for Asian fast food. Meat quality appeared to be of the frozen variety. Vegetables seemed fresh enough. Cooking oil was a bit greasy. Flavor - good flavor, not the knock you tonsils silly kind but not bland. A little on the salty side. Again the oil is greasy but a huge contributor to the overall flavor. Atmosphere - OK let's all be honest. No one goes to a local Hawaiian flavor fast food joint to get white linen or cloth napkins right? The restaurant gets crowded quick especially around lunch or dinner time. Staff - same as atmosphere. If you want great cater to you every whim service , look elsewhere. Maybe I have low expectations, but they took my order and money. Got my order to me quick enough. Got a smile or two and made eye contact. Good enough. Interesting the L&L drive in back in San Francisco East Bay has roast pork. This isn't on the menu here in HI. Too bad, I like it. Recommended for quick simple local flavor.

I live in San Francisco (the mainland) and the L&L Drive-Inn here does not COMPARE to the L&L in Hawaii. First of all, L&L in the mainland is so bland and off tasting... it pales in comparison. I think perhaps it's because of the Hawaiian salt. Hawaiian salt tastes much different than regular salt. But I digress... I like this location because it's more affordable than the ones near Waikiki. Most of their plates are reasonable priced around $8. The staff is pretty friendly, too. Yes, it looks kinda ghetto inside but honestly I really like the food. My favorite dishes are the Kailua Pork and the Lau Lau. Curry Katsu is good, too.

Twice I bought take-out and twice I was disappointed. First time I had lemon chicken and Teri beef combo. Teri beef was dry and lemon sauce was strong. Second time I ordered take-out again and had veal cutlet and brown gravy. Cutlet and gravy were very salty and the mac salad tasted old and sour, spoiled. Not ever eating there again.

Food taste better at the L&L back home in Cali. I ordered the BBQ mix plate and my beef was overdone and dry. The short ribs and chicken were good though. My wife orders the katsu chicken plate and the chicken was over fried and the sauce was lacking something. Both plates macaroni had way too much mayo! We settled for this place because there isn't many places to eat near Aulani Disney Resort. Koa Pancake House next door is way better but they close at 2pm. :(

Well I was hoping to reminisce of my younger days when I first fell head over heels from the original L & L cheeseburgers, but sad to day so Very disappointed. This one was right down the street from Makakilo and my parent's and my girls decided to see if their burgers had that special tasty sauce. Almost every L & L I've been to including 3 I use to eat at in Las Vegas had a tasty burger. Well this place was not up to par and missing that hmmm..."je ne sais quoi???" I actually ate at the Loco Moco Drive-inn near there and their cheeseburgers were Awesome and very memorable! But hey it's the nostalgia I was hoping to relive and well atleast my mom's and pop's were with us like back in the days.

after all these years of serving delicious affordable plate lunches to feed the grinders and pounders that hawaii breeds, they finally also serve healthy solutions for those watching their waist. same onolicious menu but with the new option of brown rice to substitute white rice, and veggies to substitute mac salad. and even a menu made specifically for the health conscious crowd. after getting back in shape and mourning how many years it's been since i could eat those cheap delicious grinds again, i can finally go back. and this location is conveniently located in the kapolei shopping center with tons of parking. very clean, and staff is on point. just as expected from the business L&L that maintains a reputation for the standard of "best plate lunch in hawaii"

There's another one in Kapolei Commons by the new Foodland that is much more cleaner and efficient. There is a TV. Everything about it better than the one located on Farrington Hwy. Again, a 2nd location in Kapolei, along Kapolei Pkwy. in the Kapolei Commons.4850 Kapolei Pkwy., #B-3, Kapolei, HI 96707 - Phone: (808) 674-2277. While I live closer to the original L&L in Kapolei, I go to this one for my food.

There are many of these with not much distinction. This one like all the rest make good plate lunches but not the best. Good price and a go to place anywhere around the island if you are in need of a plate lunch.
