We have a timeshare at Ko Olina and cannot wait to drive here each time to dig into their fabulous kalbi beef and beef bar-b-que. Both are grilled and seasoned to perfection, and the meat is a good quality. The "sides" are very fresh- tofu, cabbage, long rice, kim chee and other veggies are replenished often by efficient, friendly staff. The place is clean, and there always seems to be at least one 400 lb "local" eating their with their family. Lots of Locals is a good sign.

This is the best Korean restaurant on the west side of the island. Big portions and very friendly.

It's okay. I wouldn't go out of my way though. Meat Jun and BBQ beef combo is decent, but still can't beat a plate from Dong Yang. Not much else to say about the place. Kapolei Korean Barbecue is very forgettable.

I've drove by here so many times and never gone inside. I ordered the BBQ spicy pork to go and I think this is the first Korean restaurant I've encountered where they offer 4 sides with the entree. The portion size of the pork was fairly big. And the wait time was pretty quick I waited about 5-10mins.

Food still tastes good. Actually the best Korean in the Kapolei area. However, GETTING SKIMPY ON PORTIONS! Come on Kapolei Korean BBQ! You guys keep cutting back and you'll loose us.

This is the only place in Kapolei where I buy my korean bbq from! Always good service, consistent great tasting food, and pretty good prices.

I don't really care for the sides but the generous portion of bbq chicken and kalbi was enough to satisfy me and hubby.

  • Lee A.

ok this place is not bad. their bean sprouts were yummy. however, the corn was cold and had no flavor. the bbq chicken was not marinated well. it was so bland, hard, and chewy, as if it were reheated. however, the spicy pork is true korean spicy, tender, and charred well enough. oh and i must add, the sauce for the meat jun has a garlic flavor to it, which i am not used to. on the other hand, i could not taste any garlic in the meat jun egg batter.

The best Korean Take-out on the island. We stumbled upon this establishment one night, unintentionally, about 6 years ago. We continue to order from here regularly. With fast, friendly service and extremely tasty and generous portions.. you cannot go wrong!!! Never disappointed and always wanting to return!!

great BBQ!!! total local joint here. 4 stars due to no bathroom. How are you supposed to eat Kalbi without washing your hands before and after?

  • Jill Y.

Lies. Not good. Less than average. Why would you come here? Buy your own food at Safeway and make something better in 15 mins.

Sometimes when I'm not in the mood to cook, I'll get dinner here. I love the kalbi. Oh man, their kalbi is wonderful. So sweet and tender and perfectly charred. The kimchi is nice and spicy. My husband likes their spicy BBQ chicken. The kimchi cukes are addicting, as are the spicy radishes. The rice is just ok. It's not that sticky and is a little mushy. Overall, some really delicious quick Korean food.

I was expecting dry bbq, salty side dishes, and wannabe Korean food. Bit don't let appearances fool you. This place looks like a fast food teryaki joint but they make pretty authentic and good korean food. My whole travelling party of 16 were so impressed that we ate at this place for 3 consecutive days. The meat is well marinated, the choices are plentiful, and the prices are very reasonable. The best dishes were the spicy pork and the spicy squid.

  • Vanessa N.

Has the bbq chicken plate with 4 sides. The bbq was most however the mac salad, bean spouts and cabbage was loaded down with so much pepper that it over took the veggies. My guest and I ended up throwing away everything but the chicken and rice.

This is the best Korean BBQ in Kapolei. I always eat their Kal-Bi and Meat-Jun. The staff is very friendly and they automatically know to put 3 extra Meat-Jun sauces haha!

Kapolei Korean is the best!! they give really big portions so it makes up for the price (around $10.00 a plate) and everything is very good. My favorite korean food for sure!

Been coming here for a couple years...I stopped eating here because I worked next door and was over it. Now that I don't work near by, i decided to stop by and pick up a meat jun & bbq chicken plate and a meat jun & shrimp tempura plate. The chicken and meat jun tasted like it was pre cooked and thrown in the microwave when I ordered it. The food tasted terrible! I spent $25 on two plates that we didn't even eat...food has gotten crappy. oh and not to mention the awesome counter help!! (sarcasm) who when I walked in was yelling at someone on her personal cell phone & didn't bother to smile not once!

I finally got to try this place since Tasty BBQ closed and we were in the area. Got the spicy pork and I liked it. Big serving with lots of vegetables!!!

The service was prompt but it was just okay. Unfortunately, the food tasted pre-cooked and warmed up as well. It wasn't terrible but both my husband and I got sick later that night.

Gosh the customer service here sucks...the past 5 times we been here we just tolerate the really junk customer service because the food is good.

Came here for lunch with the siblings while running errands - sister found it via Yelp when the brother was craving for BBQ. Place wasn't hard to find, but going in was not what we expected to find. It's a hole-in-the-wall kinda restaurant with honestly ono kine food. Korean BBQ is nothing new to us, but we've gotta admit... When we just told the cashier what sides we wanted, I noticed the plates going to the kitchen for re-heat. I was terrified that the flavors would be lost, but I was wrong... Everything still came out good! Prices were reasonable for 3 meals too, and we felt comfortable eating there. Was kinda surprised at the amount of people placing orders for pick-up, but I was listening to the cashier greet her regulars, so you know this place has got loyal patrons. When I go back home to visit the cousins in this area, I'll be sure to go back.

The Kim Chee Fried Rice is amazing. The veggies are always fresh. Although they take a bit of time to prepare, if you have the time, it's worth the wait.

I tried this place once before and I wasn't impressed with their mini bento (I think it came with veg coroquette, fried mahi and stuff). All the fried stuff pretty much tasted like from mass produced freezer items, and they prob were. So this time I tried their Kapolei BBQ special. It comes with BBQ chicken, teri beef, meat jun, 1pc kalbi. I liked the BBQ chicken and teri beef. Meat jun was good but it was hard to bite off....I think Corner BBQ in the same mall serves better meat jun. Kalbi could be more tender too. But all in all, I had a better experience the second time.

    (3)
  • Greg Y.

Every neighborhood seems to have one of these places. Nothing fancy, just serving the local Korean favorites. Some dishes are better than others, but in general, portions are generous and prices reasonable. The Kapolei Korean special is huge and can easily feed two, maybe even three. I thought my bi bim kook soo was on the wet/watery side. While dining in is possible, take out is more prevalent.

I love that I'm finding all these great places to eat in Kapolei. My boyfriend and I were on a Korean BBQ craving for the whole week and we decided to come here after looking on Yelp. Clean space, great ventilation, your typical Korean BBQ menu. I ordered the Kapolei Special which came with everything, mandoo, kalbi, etc. etc. After I ate the meat jun I kind wished I got that plate instead. The meat jun was moist and juicy not over cooked which I loved. The dipping sauce could've been better but man the kalbi was marinated so well and it was tender. I feel like that's hard to come by these days at Korean BBQ plate lunch spots. Big portions, definitely had left overs. I was bummed by the customer service, the workers or owners were arguing right in front of us which turned me off so when they took our order they weren't friendly at all. That just messed up the whole mood and ambiance of the place. I was going to give 4 stars but since the service was like that I took down one star. I hope next time I come back they'll be on better terms so I can enjoy my food.

  • Len F.

I have eaten here once a week for the last 6 weeks! Their food is consistently good! The taste of each item is distinct and delicious! I have tried the meat Jun, Kaibi, and BBQ chicken and beef, not too mention all the fixings!

  • Chelsea K.

First thing I asked was whether they still use MSG.....unfortunately they do. Ordered a mini hamburger steak for my daughter and a kal bi/bbq chicken plate for me. I was so disappointed with the quality of the food, the taste, even the rice was dry. I'm a stickler for good Korean food and was truly saddened by the whole situation. The only reason I ate it at all was because I paid $25 for it.

  • S Y.

This place was formerly Tasty BBQ, not to be confused with Kapolei Korean BBQ even though both are in the Kapolei Shopping Center. $14 for one piece chicken katsu & two pieces of Kalbi? In the past I guess I was lucky to get two pieces of chicken katsu with two pieces of Kalbi but I verified with them that the combination plates only come with one piece of chicken katsu. Had I ordered Kalbi & BBQ chicken combination I would've had two pieces of chicken with two pieces of Kalbi. Does it really cost that much more to make chicken katsu rather than BBQ chicken that they have to withhold one piece of chicken katsu in their combination plates? I was a loyal customer for years but will be hitting up Kapolei Korean BBQ instead.

They actually close at 8:30 on Sunday, not 9pm like it says on yelp. When I showed up at 8:28, they refused to serve me. Fair enough, but the manner in which they dismissed my business reeked of the stereotypical of the apathy and laziness found in people who are content with doing the bare minimum and rewarding mediocrity. Oh, and they claimed that they had already put the food in the freezer. Either that's a lie or they are habitually serving reheated frozen leftovers.

    (1)
  • Addie L.

Note the change in name but the food and prices remain the same. Expect gigantically portioned food, decent sides and reasonable prices. A good choice if you are on that side of the island and craving for local Korean BBQ.

We eat here a couple times a year, when we are in Hawaii -- and I look forward to it all year! The menu is quite varied and offers a lot of options -- we've had the chicken BBQ, the meat jun, medium spicy fried squid and other main dishes there -- everything is cooked to order and delicious. The sides are different each time, and you can choose what you would like. We've had the cold noodles, the potatoes in sesame, mac salad, broccoli, kim chi (it is awesome!), and many others -- everything is good and made fresh. It's always busy when we've been there, so we order food to take out. If you eat in the restaurant, the seats are pretty small plastic chairs, so not so comfortable for larger people -- also, the only restroom is outside and down at the end of the strip mall -- you have to get a key.

I enjoy the food here. I always come back to this place for their bbq chicken. Favorite spot for Korean bbq in kapolei. The reason I'm not giving a 5 star because the service can be little bit better.

    (4)
  • Lydia B.

The portion sizes were very generous. The seasoning less so. I think their only seasoning is shoyu...don't think I'd come back. Very disappointed as the other yelp reviews were excellent.

  • Doloris H.

Bean sprouts are always my TO GO side when it comes to Korean BBQ. However, the bean sprouts here have so little flavor, its missing that sesame taste. Chap chae is good though!! We ordered a Kalbi Chicken. and they forgot our chicken :( and they dont give receipts so...boo hoo. no refund or replacement.

There are few things more satisfying in life than good Korean BBQ! That happy moment when succulent, but tender spicy pork is happily complimented by a smorgasbord of mouth watering sides. The shrimp tempura is lightly fried and not heavy and is also worth checking out. Sides highlights include the Kim chi, potato salad, these luscious soy soaked potatoes, and of course the tangy, but delicate Mac salad. Like a fine chorus, when eaten together each element adds to a satisfying meal which makes the tastebuds sing. The staff is friendly and knowledgable as well as willing to help any undecided customers thinking about sides. Come for the spicy pork and leave a happy person!

Service of OK for a plate lunch place. But 3 min after they took our order our food was done. That's impossible unless they reheated it which I believe they did. Kalbi and meat jun take more than 3 minutes to cook. When we got home to eat the meat Jun tasted fresh but the Kalbi we could tell was reheated. It's our fault for going for what's easy accessible without driving out of Kapolei but for $12.95 a plate it better be cooked fresh.

  • Joni P.

I just had their fish Jun, which I thought was alright. They over cooked it a little, but other than that it's pretty tasty. I would have to say that their prices are a little high for their portion size. They're definitely squeezing on their vegetable choices. I would eat there again, but not anytime soon.

  • Derek B.

Family meal here is the bomb. $30(or maybe a little more, I can't remember exactly how much I paid) for a huge spread. A few generous pieces of all their meats, some gyoza, a ton of sides and a bunch of rice. My wife, daughter and I worked on it for like 3 days...soooo much food. and soooo delicious. I'm a fan. Great spot.

  • Keola S.

I've been eating at this place for years now, through all the name changes and whatnot, and still to this day the food has not changed. It's good, but it's not "slap yo mama" kind of good. The kal-bi has always been my go to thing here, it's exactly what you'd expect it to be. My wife likes the meat jun but then again she always gets meat jun from Korean places. I've tried their other offerings and nothing really jumps out at me and screams "this is the one!" They have a nice selection of sides for you to choose from but as it was said by another reviewer, if bean sprouts are your thing try something else because it really does lack that sesame flavor.

  • Russell K.

I come here all the time. With so many choices in Korean restaurants I come to this one often. I always get the same thing, the Tofu Soup. It's is always really good and they cook it how I like it, spicy with no onions. Since you get the four sides with the meal I don't think the price is too bad. I can never finish eating it all cause the portions are so large.

Customer's not always right here!! ZERO STAR! I ate here today, 'ordered the shrimp & kalbi for $13.50 and requested to have the meat on the side. The cashier announced my request via microphone. But right away the Korean owner lady yelled, "just separate the tempura it's easier!" So I corrected her that I want the meat on the side and she me gave that look like Im costing her $$ for a piece of foil. (Really?!) The cashier didn't mind but seemed scared because the stingy owner was around. I talked to her after my co worker and I finished eating and asked what the problem was? Was it the extra foil? She said that they've never encountered a customer with such request. I told her "um I don't eat meat hence no meat juices on the rice, if the extra foil was the problem then I'll pay!" She also reasoned that owner was under a lot of stress and she can be b*tch at times, even to them. Overall, the service sucked, the tempura (3) were over battered, the side dishes weren't the best and I'm not sure about the kalbi (2) my daughter ate 'em. It took the cook awhile to make it. I'm just hoping they didn't spit on my plate but you just never know. But I'm never ever going back here-

Friendly and affordable, Kapolei Korean barbecue has a menu that will please your palettes. On a cold day the mandoo kook soo hits the spot and the vegetable choices that come with the plate lunches are all delicious. My husbands favorite is the spicy pork (it's one of the more popular dishes) and another favorite of his is the bi bim bop. When our daughter comes to visit, she usually stops off here to bring us dinner, which prompts the owners to call out, "hi, special number 2?" (Which is another favorite of my husbands)

  • Annie W.

I read a whole bunch of reviews and quite hesitant to give it a try since it was a mixed bag of opinions. It's Korean BBQ and so how bad can it get? Do you agree it's the standard seasoning that really makes the barbecue meats taste so delicious? Okay, so I already know it's not Gina's, but I need food and I'm already on this side of the Island. Kapolei is limited, there are choice, but obviously not a whole lot compared to Town. For the less obvious, this place is clean, tucked at the corner, accepts credit card and there's an abundance of parking. Overall, I feel the meat was decent, tasty and does the job.

Sadly there are restaurants out there that aren't that awesome. The quality of the food isn't worth what you pay, but they do substitute that for quantity. I had the chicken katsu today, I thought it was ok, but while I was eating I found a black hair... Sucks to have a bad experience.

First of all, we live in Mililani. Yes, it's CRAZY that we drive all the way to Kapolei considering the insane traffic on the H1, but admittedly one reason why we LOVE this restaurant and are willing to drive the extra mile (literally) is because they ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS--- which just simplifies our life that much more. I love this place because the food here is DELICIOUS. I was addicted to their fish jun which is pretty much the best the best I've ever had-- and I've tried many Korean restaurants here in Hawai'i. Now I'm really into their BBQ chicken which is equally flavorful and best of all: it doesn't have all the black burn marks that one usually encounters when ordering BBQ chicken--- yes this sound counterintuitive to ordering barbeque chicken in the first place, but I just don't need grill marks and soot on my food! The banchan here are awesome. We REALLY appreciate the VEGETARIAN jap chae--- other Korean restaurants make a more traditional receipe and toss in beef. Well, for our purposes this extremely flavorful delicacy made from sweet potato noodles is even better because there is NO meat! Another reason why we LOVE this place is because the woman who owns the restaurant is very kind. She appears to treat her employees well and with the respect that the deserve for working ever so diligently. The dedication on the part of her employees makes the food and experience of eating here that much more better. So if you're heading out West, or living down the street, or just holoholo towards Wai'anae, I encourage you to stop by and eat! And all you tourists staying at Ko'olina: come pig out and enjoy some awesome Korean take-out food!

It's by far way better than Tasty barbecue in my opinion. I usually order their kalbi and shrimp tempura combo but today I decided to go with the kalbi and chicken katsu combo. Any combo u decide to go with u can't go wrong. But here's a tip. Don't get there macaroni salad. It's just plain and mayonnaisey. But other than that. Any other vegetable choice is good!

    (4)
  • Bliss T.

I really love the bean sprouts & kim chee here. The sprouts and crisp and lightly seasoned- a perfect nibble between bites of their BBQ chicken or meat jun. The kim chee is spicy, salty and crunchy. Potions are generous. The place is very clean and the service is friendly.

    (5)
  • Jonathan C.

Spicy pork and meat Jun are awesome. Love this place because of the vegetable choices too. TIP: ask for the taegu (tay-goo) when u pick your veggies. You won't be disappointed.

  • Lon M.

We love Korean food! So it was awesome to find a great Korean restuarant 5 minutes from where we live. They have very tasty meat jun & killer kalbi! Their vegetables are fresh too. The portions are quite generous as well. I usually never finish my plate in one sitting. The staff is always friendly and the food comes out quickly. A great place for a quick meal at a reasonable price.

  • Marisa S.

If you want Korean BBQ, you should definitely come here! Try the spicy pork, Kalbi, or meat jun. You won't be disappointed!! The hamburger steak is also delicious, as well as the chicken katsu. Everything on the menu is great!! Friendly staff, and actually owned by Korean people!

Not bad. I think I like Tasty's sides better but that's just me. Portion size was good. Up charge .50 for brown rice. Shoyu potato too salty....and they ran out of tempura zucchini. It was just good.

It looks more like a Yummy's than a "real" korean restaurant, but Kapolei Korean BBQ delivers the goods. Let's eat. SPICY BBQ PORK Good flavor and not covered up by too much spice so BBQ flavor comes through as well. BBQ CHICKEN Chicken was a little dry and not too flavorful, nothing special. Portion size was a bit lacking as well. The pieces were thin, which is probably why it was dry. Normally BBQ chicken is my gauge for a good BBQ place, but since the BBQ Pork was so good (see above), I haven't had the chicken more than that first time. I would need to try it again to make any fair conclusions. Then again, Bob's BBQ had me from the very first time, so it may be awhile before I order the chicken again, especially since the BBQ pork is more than satisfying. FRIED MAN DOO If Kapolei Korean made man doo like Soon's or Kim Chee 2, I would visit here much more often. I'm not sure if they make it from scratch, but the fried man doo is pretty standard plate lunch fare-- that is, fine but not lick-my-lips-just-thinking-about-it-amazing. You get a decent amount in a side in a side order (~10 pieces), which is nice. FISH JUN I've only just started trying fish jun at Korean places. I think I'll stop. Might just not be for me. Kind of flavorless, but it's egg and white fish, so there's not much flavor to begin with. VEGGIES Side veggies were fresh and tasty. You choose what veggies you want. I like to substitute rice for veggies and they give you another 1-2 choices of veggies. Broccoli, choi sum, kim chee, bean sprouts-- all good. They pile on the veggies too, which is nice. CONCLUSION The portions are generally good and the prices are not stratospheric (most plates just a touch under $10). You can sub veggies for rice and the food is quite good. Definitely the best plate lunch in Kapolei.

9-17-2014 This place gave us a upset tummy, we know it is from this place d/t we all got sick. The bbq beef had old rice on it like it was from left overs and it was cold meat. The choices that is in the front to be picked out is left open where they TALK over the food. The kalbi & chicken was burnt, and the table had baby roaches crawling along the sides by the soy sauce. Nasty place, I won't recommend this place.Yuk sucks is the nick name.... oh and who ever is writing these reviews that it is good must be their ohana's....

I been eating here since they opened. Food has changed a little bit since then. It's still a good value for the price.A for service A for food, A for cleanliness. A for friendly. I usually get a combo platter it's pretty good. Most BBQ places taste the same but for se reason this place is a little different. Sorry if I seemed biased. Kapolei BBQ is a norm.

  • Arthur T.

The good here is always consistently good and the best Korean good in kapolei. The workers are always very nice here. My favorite is the spicy pork,or the pan fried Kim chee, but everything is good here.

  • Terrance Y.

Strange...I read the reviews and I can't agree with the 5 stars or 4 stars, Granted maybe it was a bad day? (Nobody in the place) I found it to be quite expensive but I was hoping that's because they would give a large portion... uh nope sorry it was actually smaller than the places I go where it is cheaper... not a good sign. Okay now the taste the BBQ chicken was kind of bland the meat Jun very thin but was okay. Sorry maybe this one of the best in Kapolei but not anywhere else. I have to at least say they were friendly though.

standard fast food korean bbq for standard prices. I would have given this place 3 stars but their chapchae was the worst I have ever eaten.

    (2)
  • Tammy S.

The food is really good for a take-out korean food place. Chicken and beef combo and a bento box with japchae, tofu, seaweed, and zucchini tempura. The meat was good and I personally liked the seaweed and japchae but I think all the sides tasted as they should. If I lived here, this would be my to go to place for a fast meal.

My favorite Kalbi in Kapolei, maybe #3 on Oahu.

    (4)
  • Chelsea O.

The kimchee is amazing. The perfect balance of spice and vinegar! The kalbi wasn't my favorite, but the meat jun is the best I've had on the island so far. I will repeatedly go back to Kapolei Korean BBQ because it also offers a brown rice option! Yum yum yum!

    (4)
  • Olga F.

(drafted from earlier today) literally just consumed our first meal of our Oahu trip.. and it was deeelish! we got the kalbi & chicken rice plate with broccoli, bean sprouts, Chinese broccoli & vermicelli noodles! YUM! loved the veggies 8) my sister got the kimchee beef fried rice, sampled the spicy pork as well from my cousin's plate... ALL YUM! Thanks YELP for this delicious find!

    (5)
  • Clarence F.

The Kalbi meal rocks. Not only do you get the rice, but you also get to pick out 5 choices of kim chee or other side dishes. it is adequately priced and made to order. The taste of the Kalbi is delicious. Everytime we are in town, my wife and I always make a stop there and usually there is extra to take home and eat all over again.

On this rainy Sunday, the hubby was jonesing for some Korean soup--hot and spicy-- to make up for this rainy and chilly weather. So what's a fellow Yelper to do when the only Korean place we know of on the west side is Yummy's?! And truly I wasn't feeling it for Yummys. So we found Kapolei Korean BBQ on Yelp and decided to check it out as it had some really positive reviews and my girl Christie even reviewed it as a great find, so figured we would try it. We had nothing to lose. The place was easy to find, not too crowded and the food looked fresh so I felt good already. My hubby ordered a Yook Jae Gang soup which he said was just spicy enough. It came with strips of thin beef and veggies. The amazing thing was that it also came with 4 sides as well, just like a plate lunch! Bonus! So the hubby got shoyu potato, Taegu, Mac salad and Kim chee cucumber. For the rugrat Teri chicken mini plate and for me a shrimp tempura and fish jun combo. I was impressed with their sides. It was definitely fresh, tasty and delicious. I amusually suspicious when it comes to food sitting out in silver trays atop ice to keep it chilled however their sides were yummy. Whew! Overall it was affordable, tasty and plentiful.

Usually, this is my go to place to pick up lunch or dinner. It's usually been the case where I've always been satisfied with their food, service, choice of sides, and their prices aren't too bad also. Recently, I ordered take out and as soon as we opened it at home, I noticed this small roach at the bottom of the plate. Disgusted and disappointed because this has never happened before..I called to let them know. a little upset that when I called to let them know, she insisted they didn't have any roaches. Almost as though I'm lying..but why would I lie when I went there so many times prior?! Anyways, she told me that I could get that plate free then next time I came..didn't matter when and didn't have to be soon. I haven't gone since, and call me stupid..but I wanted to try again just because I've always enjoyed there. I called explaining my situation of what happened last time and what's been said..and they said that we couldn't that plate free because they didn't hear about it from the boss. I'm disappointed and sad because although this was my go to, I won't be back and will look for another Korean restaurant.

Maybe I got just a little carried away with my last review... but not by much. I still love this place. I went there tonight and it was as good as ever. I really think that last review must be shibai... I looked at everything quite closely and it looked as clean and fresh as ever. My family orders the same thing every time: Kapolei special plate 2. My family of five shares 2 plates and tonight we had some left over. We all love the kim chee cucumbers and get several orders of that and are never disappointed. I'm pretty sure the family owners were running it tonight... I've seen them before... and they are always friendly. One add on too: avoid the fried rice.... NOT good. Good items: Meat jun, barbecue chicken, Kal-bi etc...

We came here ten years ago when they first opened. Recently came back to try. Still as good. The owner is friendly and gives generous portions. Would recommend.

I'm a giant piggy, and I eat about 2 to 4 times the average human. The fella that works there is always super cool and he will also give you good suggestions. I usually get one of the specials and I can barely finish the meal. So, if you are a normal eater, you could easily feed two people with any of the plates that you order. In other words, "Doh, they give a ton of food!" As for quality, I think they tend to use better quality meats and it shows. Soooo, to sum it up - worker peeps are cool, the food is delicious with great quality, and they overload the plate with food. Oh, and the veggie choices are fresh, too. 5 stars for you! for making me get back to work 5 pounds heavier...

Owned and operated by a Korean family, it is a great place for a quick sit down or take out Korean BBQ. I like it better than its competitor , Tasty Korean BBQ, down the mall, because I think it has more authentic Korean flavoring. The ban chan (side dishes ) are definitely better here. Their Specials combo plates are the best value with Kal bi, chicken, meat jun, rice, etc, etc. I am almost always amazed at how much meat they give, Their soup dishes have tons of MSG so you might want to stick with their BBQ fare.

Went here for the first time but it taste just like Yummy's korean BBQ which is in the same shoppiing center. The fish Jun tastes old like a sponge. I would eat there again I just wouldn't order the fish Jun.

excellent service! the food? not so much in all honesty, there's nothing wrong with the food, it's just not as good as what you'd get from the more mainstream franchise chain korean bbq stops. they do offer brown rice as an alternative to accomodate the healthier crowd which is a plus. but for example: if you ordered some meat jun, it wouldn't really taste fresh fried, it would be a solid yellow (egg) just like the musubi with egg at your local 7-11 drying under a heat lamp served at room temperature. same as the meats such as bbq chicken and beef = dry not fresh tasting. doesn't taste bad, it's just mediocre. so the rating really is for the food. because other than that the seating is really nice and cozy, location is great, food prices are about the same, and the staff is very friendly. but i'd still rather eat at a tasty's or yummy's

Honestly, whoever says that tastys and yummys is better must be mentally challenged! This is the closest you'll ever get to real authentic Korean food from a takeout restaurant. I've been to Korea many times and I've noticed that a lot of places in hawaii are just too salty. But this place is very fresh and healthy. I must admit the BBQ beef is a little dry, but that's really all I can complain about. I really recommend the spicy pork, hamburger steak, kalbi and the bbq chicken. One thing that I like about this place is that the cooks are actually Korean unlike everywhere else.

My family always goes there and shares two plates (we have 5 of us). They pile on the food - always tasty and affordable. Our fav korean place in Kapolei!

As I dodged traffic in the Kapolei area doing my errands and shopping, I had a hankering for filipino food. 1st thought was JulieZ's. Drove past and couldn't find any parking, 2nd drive by I saw that there was a looong line inside. So, I settled for 2nd best. Korean fast food (across the same parking lot). Got the bento, Kapolei special and spicy chicken wings. Side dishes were- shoyu potatoes, bean sprouts, choy sum, mac salad, chap chae, cucumber kim chee & deep fried zucchini. The fish in the bento tasted very frozen and bland, meat jhun and bulgogi was ok, the vegetable croquette was the best item in this one. The special had the kalbi, bulgogi & chicken. Nothing to do cartwheels for. The spicy chicken wings were not spicy and a little soggy. The potato, choy sum were the tastiest of the sides. The cucumber kim chee was tangy like japanese pickle style, bean sprouts, mac salad and chap chae was tasteless. Definitely not enough seasoning. The deep fried zucchini was alright. Quantity was large and the 3 plates came out to $26. Average price for korean food. BUT, not worth the drive thru traffic for so-so food. Next time, I'll wait in line for JulieZ's.

Kapolei Korean Barbecue offers diners tasty Korean food and generous portions at an affordable price. My wife and I shared the Kapolei special #2 ($9.95+tax) and it was enough food for the both of us. It included 2 pieces of bbq chicken, 1 piece kalbi, 1 piece bbq meat, 6 pieces of meat jun, 1 fried mandoo, 1 zucchini jun and 5 sides since we passed on the rice. Everything that came with the plate was tasty and well cooked. The sides were better then at other Korean take out places. If we're in the mood for some quick tasty Korean food we'll be back..

I think they have the BEST MONDOO ever! I love love love the mondoo there! The food is better then what you would find at your typical Korean plate place. My family and I really enjoy this place. Its pretty pricey but worth it. I especially enjoy their kim chee too. The place is always clean. And the customer service is good. If I could afford it more often Id definitely be there more. If you go there though, order the mondoo! So good!

Holy Goodness! Came here on a lazy weeknight where I didn't cook. First time here and according to the Yelp reviews it seemed pretty good. I ordered the mini meat jun plate and the husband got the mini meat jun and mandoo plate. They cooked it up pretty quickly and it was time. Time to take a deep breath and feed my face (seriously felt like that). Amazing meat jun! It was thinly sliced and I could cut it with my fork. I loved it. I chose a side of the bean sprouts and mac salad. The husbands mandoo that I snatched was also delish. It's like I was repeating the sequence of my face feeding. Grab piece of meat jun with some rice. Feed face. Grab bean sprouts and mac salad. Feed face and repeat. Food taste was great! One usual deal breaker for me for a restaurant is cleanliness. I am almost certain it was the owner but she was spraying and wiping down the booths, tables, and chairs. This restaurant is super clean which is a very big plus in my book. This is my new favorite place to grab Korean food.

I've never been really big on Korean side dishes, but this take out place gives you up to 4 choices of various sides to go with your combo plate. I was surprised when I got my plate...how was I to finish this mound of food? All for under $10 w/drink. This was more than just a plate meal...this seemed like a double serving. The kalbi and bbq chicken were quite tasty. I barely touched the bbq beef...it was too much for me. I got some clear noodles, spicy cucumbers, macaroni salad, and some choi sum for my sides, which I surprisingly enjoyed every one of them. I was unable to finish...which was a shame, as I hate to waste food. Not a tourist stop, but worth trying if you're in the area.

Driving home from hula, starving, I called in an order literally on the Kapolei freeway exit 5 minutes before they closed. I parked, walked in to immediately pay for and pick up my BBQ chicken, all veggies plate (that also lasted for lunch the next day) and head back home to feast. After a long day, it soooo hit the spot! Didn't taste like the absolute last plate of the day either, if you know what I mean.....if I'm gonna do fast food, this is a reliable stand by.
