4 Stars for now...only because I haven't tried very many sweets from this place. Today was my first visit. I gave into my craving for cupcakes. Usually I drive the 30 minutes to Cake Couture in Aina Haina but I decided to try this place. I ordered the chocolate chip with organic peanut butter frosting cupcake and a red velvet. I can never pass up red velvet. 1 word...AMAZING. The cupcakes were so moist and sweet but not too rich. When I want these flavors...this will definitely be my spot. For more cupcake options I'll be driving the distance to Cake Couture. And the best part, I still have half of each one to eat tomorrow! Mmm I definitely recommend trying it!

Ordered my birthday cake from here. Cheesecake, which everyone likes, with an island lilikoi flare! It was delicious and beautiful!

I have to say, I really liked this spot! It was a great surprise! We were having lunch close-by at K&K BBQ and we randomly saw this place. They have a decent menu of deserts and we selected the Macadamia Nut Bread Pudding, Chocolate Covered Cheesecake and Chocolate Truffles. The bread pudding was great - moist and flavorful with the right amount of those macadamia nuts; it wasn't too sweet, which I really enjoyed. The cheesecake was amazing - first of all, it's not just a plain cheesecake - it's actually a cheesecake with a layer of red velvet cake and it's incredible! It was decadent and rich and fresh. I'd never had anything like that before and I thought it was so clever. The truffles didn't do much for me since I'm a purist when it comes to chocolate and rum was added to the truffles, which really didn't do anything for me. I was very pleased with the most of the desserts and I can't wait to sample some of their other offerings. Definitely try out this place - it's a diamond in the strip mall rough!

I could never seem to get to this place while it was open. But I came across a table at the farmer's market and tried it out. I liked the peanut butter cupcake, but the red velvet didn't taste like red velvet I'm not sure what it was. I guess if I really need a red velvet fix when I'm in Kailua, I'll stick to eating the pancakes at Cinnamons. As for this place, I'm not sure if I'll be taking another shot at a surprise taste.

My friend is getting his wedding cake from here and he urged me to check it out since I was going to the Kailua open market. At first I didn't think they were at the open market but then I saw it! Had to get me a red velvet cupcake. One word. ONO! It is now my favorite place for cupcakes. I must go check out her shop to see what else she got. Since the other reviews mentioned haupia I probably going check it out tomorrow. Only draw back was that it was kind of expensive. But oh well. Good thing I live in town.

Joslyn came highly recommended, so was happy to order a cake for a friend. I wanted a nine inch round white on white buttercream with a rasberry filling. I asked for a light pink ribbon on bottom, and sent her a pic of the real orchids we wanted. The day before our party we confirmed, and the said fondant..i said i didnt order fondant. She insisted..but i never order that, but time was of the essence now, so i just hoped for the best. She would not do happy birthday which i dont understand, but again, i was ok just write my friends name nicely on it. She did deliver for me to kahala hokus resturaunt. When we got to hokus, the hostess gave me a look like i should see this cake..i was mortified..althought the flowers were very pretty and the ribbon was good...the writing was like a tube from safeway..single stringy green..really small..like a six yr old did it. Fortunatly for us the staff at hokus whisked the cake away, scarped off the awful writing, and prettied it up, and plated it after we sang. But...it was tasteless..and the bottom layer was brownish green, and the fondant was like styrofoam..ugh. The staff at hokus had to add some flavor drizzles to the plate because it was bad... I guess what bothers me most, is that i sent her an email explainng my dissatisfaction, and i never got a reply. That would have saved her from this review. I would have felt better if she maintained communication.. as i know that not everyone has good days all the time..gave two stars because the flowers were beautiful.

Went to buy sweets for dinner...The door was locked when I got there...I called and the woman was rude on the phone..I told her that her website said they were open and she said "Ya..we need to update that." Thanks for wasting my time..spent another hour running around trying to find something.

Is it possible to marry pastries? I'm in love! Someone brought some pastries to a get-together tonight and I got to sample Sweet Stop's haupia cream puff and New York cheesecake. Both were small bite-sized portions, perfect for sampling. The cheesecake was smooth and creamy and the haupia cream puff, oh my god, the haupia cream (more of a custard consistency vs. a true cream) was silky smooth, and coconuty (is that even a word?). There were other pastries/desserts that I wanted to try, but I had to refrain from turning into a little greedy piggy since there were others present. Damn them all to hell. I'll definitely be making a stop next time I'm in Kailua.

Stopped by here when it was closed, but luckily the owner saw us and opened up her shop. Since she opened up for us, I felt compelled to buy at least one thing, but I ended up with 3. Got the red velvet cupcake, the petis four pack, and the chocolate lovers pack for my mom. All of them were delicious!! The red velvet cake was perfect as it wasn't as sweet and the frosting was exceptional. At first glance, the petis four looked alright, but every single one was great. Me and my gf ate it all in one sitting, and I thought I lost my sweet tooth in college. This place might make me get it back again. As for the chocolate lovers pack, I don't know how good it was, but it was all gone within the day, so go figure. Price was a little bit more on the expensive side, but I hardly eat sweets anyways, so once in a while is alright to splurge. Not to mention if you eat these things at a restaurant, it would probably be more expensive as this is fine dinning quality desserts. I definitely will be back again.

This place is a joke. Bought a voucher online to this place, when I went to Kailua to us it the company was no longer there. Don't bother with places like this.

I don't know much about bakeries or cakes, etc etc. I stopped in on my way to the beach for a quick snack - i.e. cup-cake. Overall it was just OK. Nothing spectacular, nothing to make a special trip out of. The shop is a bakery and not really a Dessert Shop. So, don't expect much as you enter.

Joclyn is a sweetheart; I stop by her stand whenever she's at the Kailua Farmers Market and this last time I was just exhausted after work, a doctor's appointment and being pregnant I was ready for a treat and my bed, she was so friendly in hoping I got a break soon (HOORAY, LABOR DAY) and conversational. I got the cupcakes, one red velvet with cream cheese frosting and one chocolate with peanut butter icing and chocolate chips on top. They totally hit the spot! The red velvet was moist and decadent, the icing had great consistency and had just the right amount of sweetness. And peanut butter and chocolate. well, I am a sucker for anything peanut butter & chocolate so that was definitely a winner too. Don't underestimate these bad boys though, each was like two servings for me.

Although i give this place five stars I actually hate them. I have no willpower, and it is close to my house. I am going to be fat in one week. curse your cupcakes.

heavenly! i couldn't decide what to get so they actually have sampling trays you can buy! mini versions of some of their most popular desserts reasonably priced! my tray included: truffle - not a huge fan of truffels in the first place, so gave that to my friend cream puff - yummy! pecan pie - absolute favorite thing here! fruit on cheesecake/red velvet - interesting & not as heavy as you'd imagine key lime pie - really tart! but good coconut/caramel bar - ehh, good have done without i also order a hot chocolate to wash it all down. all of this cost me $11, bot bad for the selection i got and the friendly, patient service. i am a huge sweets fan and i couldn't even begin to decide until she pointed out her variety trays. love LOVE this place!

I stopped by the Sweet Stop to order a birthday cake. I agree with Renee W's review that Joclyn was unfriendly and off-putting. I told her I wanted a two layer cake with chocolate and vanilla layers. She asked me if I wanted fondant and I said no. Well, when I went to pick the cake up, it had fondant on it and it was 4 layers. But, what REALLY bothered me, was that she REFUSED to write HAPPY BIRTHDAY on it. She said she could write my son's name but not "happy birthday". I was shocked. She said she had made a business decision 8 years ago not write happy birthday on cakes and "if I looked around her shop, I would see that none of her cakes of those words written on them". When you pay over $100 for a cake and 15 small, round sugar cookies, you expect to have whatever you want written on the cake. I felt the cake was overpriced and the customer service was seriously lacking. I will not be ordering birthday cakes from that store again and will be sure to tell all my mommy friends about my experience.

I love wedding cake! Not only is the cake beautiful from Joslyn at Sweet Stop it is amazingly delicious. The cake was moist and her designs are gorgeous. You know how some wedding cakes look gorgeous but then they are dry and taste like crap. Joslyn's cakes are oh so good. Everyone was amazed at how good it tasted because they are so used to dry yucky tasting wedding cakes. I was not too picky about what I wanted for my wedding cake but my mom went a little overboard. She wanted a 3-tiered cake but there was only 20 guests - we had a lot leftover for the $500 cake. It blows my mind that a cake can cost that much but my mom was paying for it and wanted 3-tiers so what can you do. Joslyn makes a sketch of the cake you want so that everyone is on the same page. Between me, Joslyn and my mom we kept getting the design mixed up but the end result was perfect and Joslyn was extremely patient with us. It made things even more difficult since I was in San Francisco trying to plan a Hawaii wedding and my mom in Hawaii doing most of the work but it all turned out fine.

When I met with Joslyn to taste sample wedding cakes, I was put off by her unfriendly manner. She seemed so distant and uninterested. I did order a cake from her because I felt they tasted good and I wasn't interested in shopping around for a wedding cake since this was the last task I needed to complete before heading back to Oregon and I wanted to get just a few minutes in at the beach :) We did discuss several designs for my cake and I felt like she rushed me through it. I finally decided on one style. It was a photo from a Martha Stewart magazine. I was very specific about how the cake should look and she agreed to decorate it just this way. Well, when I saw the cake on my wedding day I was completely mortified! It looked nothing like the cake in the photo I showed her (and I left the photo with her at our first meeting too!) and it was the WRONG color!!! It had purple flowers on it when my wedding colors were pink and white. Did the cake taste good on my wedding day? Well, I don't know because I didn't want to eat it since it was so ugly! I definitely do not recommend Sweet Stop!

Joslyn's desserts are broke da mouth. Sweet Stop in Kailua and JJ's in Kaimuki are my two favorite cake/dessert places on Oahu. Both places are not cheap, but the sweets are so ono.
