To be honest, I would rather avoid this one out of all the L&L Drive-Inn's I have been to in my lifetime within Hawaii and in California but sadly, it's in my hometown. Sad panda! So the food is edible but I will have to say that I do not detect the freshness that comes when I dine at other establishments or even order from other L&L's. This does scare me a little, especially when I save it for leftovers. Knock-on-wood that my family and I have not gotten food poisoning yet, but it is a possibility that lurks in the back of my mind from time to time. Given the state of the food, the pricing does not matter at this point, only that it should be priced cheaper to match the quality. I am not saying that L&L has to serve gourmet quality meals, but there should at least be a standard for preserving and handling the food. Maybe it's the way it's cooked? Anyone know the number for Kitchen Nightmares because I definitely think Chef Gordon Ramsay would have a thing or two to say about this chain in the establishment. I normally get the Chicken Katsu Curry or the regular Chicken Katsu plate. They have been good but the chicken is sometimes a bit tough to bite. Definitely does not seem fresh when thought about but normally I'm too hungry to be really picky. My friend's Cheeseburger Deluxe was actually not that bad. The veggies tasted a lot better than what I had ordered for some reason. The service definitely does not attract me to this place at all. There is a bit of a language barrier but I do not see any effort being put into the service provided which might also explain the lack of effort that may be going into the food. A happy restaurant normally has happy workers and higher standards for the food. Don't get me wrong. I really have no idea of what is going on on the inside but from what I perceive, I really do not enjoy visiting this L&L. I will give them props on being organized and pumping out the food in a decently timed fashion. That much I cannot take away from them since they are efficient at making sure the clients do not wait too long for their orders. The layout is basic but definitely has not changed much over the several years I have been back to visit. It is your basic layout but I just do not get a very clean sense when I walk in. In fact, I don't even want to sit down with my order. Just pick-up and go back home. Definitely says something when clients get that sense that eating there might not be the best option. Overall, I personally do not enjoy going there unless I am craving for some Chicken Katsu Curry or something with local flavor and fast. It is edible and I have yet to get food poisoning (so once again, knock-on-wood), but I would recommend investing a little in other places to eat until the standards pick up a bit. Mainly in their customer service which, to me, makes or breaks any business. Sorry, Kailua L&L. I just hope for the best in the future.

Horrible!!! The place smells like urine. The cashier is so rude. Any question we asked her regarding a dish was so tasking for her she rolled her eyes and yelled a lot. The place was so filthy we decided not to eat plus the smell of urine was nauseating. Did I mention it smelled like urine!!!

This L&L is one of the best ones on the island. They always get my order right. And I only order standard stuff when I eat and little plate lunch places. Who orders sweet and sour spare ribs from l and l. The service is great if you are cool with them they are cool with you. I always tip a dollar and now they remember me and hook me up so good luck.

All the nopes! Why did I come here even? That's a good question. When my husband gets hangry he is difficult and less decisive than when's he's not starving. So, we came over to Enchanted Lakes to actually go to Round Table, but it's being renovated and they had no chairs. I suggested the new Greek spot, but my hangry husband said "NOPE!" and we ended up at L&L because, options. Also, it's one of those Hawaii staples that you feel you NEED to try while living here. My mistake. When you walk in it just looks like a greasy shit hole. The girl working the counter hates her life. She also doesn't understand English, so get ready for a unpleasant exchange of describing what you want, and hope you like getting the wrong order. I ordered the katsu burger, what I got was the katsu chicken and a EFF TON of fries. I went back up to the counter to tell the woman that I ordered the BURGER and I got this look like I was Satan for wasting food that I didn't want. I really really tried to be pleasant, I didn't even get an attitude with her, but she was still rude. Whatever. She works at a shitty restaurant, I'd hate my life too. After I got my katsu burger it was the greasiest, nastiest pile of food I'd ever seen. A bun, a too big tomato, lettuce, some sorta thousand island dressing and then a greasy fried hamburger patty. I'd rather eat from a 7-11. I just threw it away. My husband liked his food, but he was, like I said, hangry from the start, so he would have eaten a shoe with hot sauce on it. He had some sauce that came with his order that seriously tasted like a shot of gross whiskey. I don't know what it was, but don't use it on your food. Unless they are trying to get your drunk so you don't realize the crap you're ingesting. The prices were cheap. Everything in there seemed broken and dirty. If you like rude service with cheap shitty food, you'll love L&L. Me, I won't be back. EVER.

Ate 2 Saimin Burgers! Onolicious. The teriyaki sauce mixed with the onions and green onions was fantastic! The only problem was the burger fell apart easily. I reverted to a fork and knife which didn't work well either. They need to wrap the burger in foil or wax paper so we can eat it like a burger and it won't burn our hands or fall apart. I've had stews here before and the meat is actually tender, unlike most other L&L's I go to where the meat is so chewy you have to spit it out. People are friendly and you can see the kitchen. This is my favorite L&L.

I feel like an idiot not reading all the prior reviews. My favorite dish is Chicken Katsu. How can anyone ruin this?! Even the sauce sucks. I threw it all away. It's not even worth complaining about and asking to fix. Alternative: There's a MUCH better L&L right down the road at the entrance of Waimanalo.

Food wasnt that bad but I lived in japan for three years and could understand most of what they were saying about me and started talking back to them in there japan/hawaian slang and they shut the fuck up rather fast because im twice there size..Ya..Why? wtf did I do to them? I was just trying to get a plate lunch! Lucky I was in a good mood or I would have beat the shit out of them right in the store..Stop the race hate and maybe I would go back..

Too bad I can't give -star. Of ALL the L&L places I've been to, this is BY FAR.....the worst! Half cooked rice, the sweet sour spare rib look like prison food ( nasty, fatty... nasty). The other places had really good sweet sour spareribs which is one of my favorite. I opened my container and just stared at it..."wtf is this? " On top of that, they want you to pay. 25 to refill your soda cup with water from the container they had left out. Seriously? ? Most places leave a jug of water. Just need to buy the cup. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE Someone posted "hospitable. .friendly. . best looking crew"....Are you freaking high? Either you work there or family.

Honestly this place isn't bad, service was fine nothing special and nothing horrible. I think people are over exaggerating. Food is a typical cheap eats L & L BBQ. If you want better quality then go to a high end plate lunch place and pay twice as much for your meal. I give it 4 stars because it's average.

There are so many eating places in the Enchanted Lake shopping center in Kailua, but when you are eating on a budget, look no further. Be sure to stop by this L&L location. The service he is decent, large dining area, but this place is older than the other location next to Blockbuster. The food menu is a little cluttered by old, faded pictures of stuff on the menu (which hasn't changed in over 8 years). My favorite item is their shrimp curry plate with two scoops of rice and mac salad.

I would have rated the place slightly better if it weren't for the fact that my companion's shrimp was not properly cleaned. The dreaded black line of grossness was fully intact on one piece. It's a shame since I liked the owner. My plate of Schezuan eggplant with a fried egg on top was decent. If they can't even clean shrimp I'd hate to imagine what other things are lacking. One of the employees actually explained that the reason that there wasn't a public toilet because it was "hazardous with all the stuff in there". I appreciated her honesty but I'm certainly avoiding this place from now on no matter how desperate I am. Go to the Waimanalo one instead. The place looks thoroughly clean, the food is better than the average L&L and there isn't any screaming employees.

You can always count on L&L Kailua on Enchanted Lakes to give a fast and satisfying plate lunch at an affordable price with friendly service! I especially like their fried saimin with bbq chicken, chicken katsu just right. I find the staff almost always cordial, they may be stressed if several customers all come at same time, but it is fast and never disappointed with the choices I have tried!

Service: a big fat ZERO/5 Food: 1/5 (only because I didn't get sick) I'm pretty sure the woman taking our order was talking bad about us the entire time we were ordering and then waiting for our order. She kept yelling in another language at the cook. I mean, I know this is L&L and I'm not expecting spectacular service but come on now! I'm providing you with business. Stop being rude. Very unfriendly. I would recommend that NOBODY eat here.

I love coming to this L and L! My opinion is that the food is always good here. The chicken katsu is what I normally order. I love the fact the sauce that they give is not the liquid version of what every other L and L offers. The owner modified the sauce. It is thicker and much like ketchup that has been spiced up. This L and L can get very busy at times but the food comes out rather quickly. The parking is great and normally you can find a stall. Sometimes the staff talks in a different language and can seem rude but I don't think they actually are rude. They just sound like it. Other than that the food menu board has been updated and I like ordering plate lunches from this place!

I came here with my brother and nephew a while back and must say it is the MOST DISGUSTING L&L I have ever been to. The cashier was extremely rude and got an attitude with me because SHE gave me the wrong beverage! Next, I ordered tossed greens and it came with no salad dressing. When I asked her for some she gave me the tiniest bit, which only covered the bottom of the tiny cup and all I got was attitude when I asked for more. On to the food...awful. My fried mahi was seasoned with Old Bay (gross!). I usually order the fried fish when I go to L&L and never has is tasted like that! My brother ordered the hawaiian plate...the laulau was dry, the kalua pork was dry, and everything was tasteless! My nephews locomoco was decent, at best. Also, they were allowing patrons in without shoes, the tables were filthy,and the cashier looked like she hadn't bathed in days!

I've never been disappointed with the food here. Pretty good. If you think the people are being rude, I wouldnt take it personal. They're Vietnamese and just come across as mean but their not. I always to to speak Vietnamese to them but I get this look like I'm wearing a bebidee on my head.

This is just like every other L&L, except a little seedier than the rest. Small restaurant, old tables and chairs, and overflowing trash cans. I think Eddie Flores (founder and CEO of L&L) put is best when he said he doesnt even eat the food at his restaurants.
