One of the few locations in Kailua that offers late-night service, Jack in the Box is an old stand-by that shines in a few areas but has a long way to go in others. On the plus side, they're open 24/7. They have a handful of menu items that are actually kinda tasty. The service at this location has been unfailingly polite and cheerfully friendly. On the minus side, they are one of the most expensive fast food joints, offering only a miniscule "value" menu. Their service is typically slow, so not really such "fast" food after all. They suffer from inconsistent quality control, so you never know if your food will be fresh and hot or cold and meh. If you're coming here for a cold drink on a hot day, go for it! If you're looking for something tasty and delicious, it's a gamble, and a kinda pricey one at that in the realm of fast food eateries, especially since there are other choices in the immediate vicinity.

Never again will I eat at this location. Got there and only one car ahead of me, things were looking good. Ordered a breakfast jack combo with two breakfast jacks on the side. I ate one of the sandwiches on the way home and it seemed more greasy than usual but I knew it wasn't fine dining. Upon opening my second sandwich at home I found a hair in the greasy wrapper along with the sandwich. Decided I wasn't eating that sandwich and would try the other. Surprise, mystery garbage on the bun of my other sandwich. At this point all I have left is the hash brown. Is was like a sponge saturated with oil. Pictures below show this miserable $10 "meal". At first I was going to call the manager but decided this is something that needed to be brought to customers attention. BUYERS BEWARE! Pics below

Person taking order at drive thru was really rude. I ordered a buttery mushroom burger with no onions. Got a buttery burger with no mushrooms either. Called to speak to manager, got supervisor instead. He took my name, apologized and said, "Next time you go, they'll take care of you." Not sure what that means but will find out on my next visit.

Got mired in weekend traffic trying to get to Whole Foods, so I reluctantly stopped at Jack to stave off starvation. In hindsight, starvation might have been preferable. I ordered one of the "buttery" burger meals minus cheese. The staff decided to withhold lettuce as well, so all my surprisingly dry burger had was a sorry slice of unripe tomato and a thin puddle of "buttery" sauce somewhere in the middle (I didn't find it until almost halfway through -- a far cry from the photos that make the burger look like it is completely coated). The quality of the "meat" itself was appalling -- more like ultra-processed factory effluent. (For comparison, I occasionally eat and enjoy McDonald's Bacon Clubhouse Classic, which seems like actual beef.) The soda from the fountain was watery, not very fizzy, and had a heavy tap water aftertaste. At least the curly fries were hot, crispy and fresh, but I didn't appreciate being upcharged for them. I'll be spending the next several days eating yogurt & Kefir trying to replenish the gut bacteria wiped out by Jack. How does anyone actually consume this "food"? I hereby propose all Jacks in Hawaii be demolished and replaced with Chipotle. Who's with me?

I usually come here in the middle of the night after coming home from doing whatever around the island. I'm also usually the only one in the drive-thru so it's always nice and quick to order and get my food.

I wouldn't even give any starts to this Jack in the box! I've given this jack in the box 2 chances and they screwed it up. I'm never going back to this Jack in the Box. First incident: around 10 pm and I was the only car in the drive thru and it took about 1 minute for someone to take my order through the intercom. When placing my order, the worker kept cutting me off. She sounded like she did not want to be at work. She came off as sassy to me. After placing my order, I gathered my money before driving up to the Window and heard the worker telling her coworkers to hurry the heck up. I felt bad for her workers! When I drove to the window, I wanted to look at her name tag so I could write an email to their main office and I noticed it said 'trainee'. I was astonished! I would be ashamed to be yelling at my coworkers if I was just a trainee. So anyway, paid for my meal and it took her about 6-10 mins to give me my food because she said 'they were so busy'. Mind you that I was the only drive thru customer there and I didn't see anyone inside the restaurant. After 10 mins or so, she shoved my meal in the bag and handed it to me. She rolled her eyes at me and said that's you're order. I checked it and I was missing another meal so I waited for them to get it. I waited for a couple seconds and someone with a different colored uniform asked the trainee 'what is she waiting for?' So she asked me 'is there something she forgot?' I told her yes, and I told her what it was and she said 'oh okay, anything else?' After getting my order, I left really upset. About a month after the incident, I decided to give them another chance. Long story short, I felt my first experience was wayyy better than my second. I'm never going back to this Jack in the box.

Worst Jack in the box by far. It's like they don't follow the quality standards. It's been this way for years. Every 4 or 5 months we check to see if they have fixed it but nope, still the same! My sourdough jack was so ridiculous we laughed at it and took pictures for Facebook where everyone there laughed to. When I first looked I thought they forgot the hamburger because it looked like two pieces of bread only. When I opened it, it had the worlds tiniest patty. It was only slightly larger than white castle. There was an inch of bread all the way around. And what was worst is it tasted like old meat. Sadly this is always my experience. Bad tasting meat and inconsistent preparation. Corporate needs to get on this place, I'm surprised they haven't gotten in trouble for false advertising.

The people taking the orders in the Philippine call centers must be instructed to upsell the tacos because no matter what you order, they ask, "would you like to add two tacos for just one dollar." So, they've stumbled upon the most ancient of fraternity-broseph wisdom: wait until people are drunk, suggest that they put things in their mouths that they normally wouldn't while sober, and sooner or later someone will take you up on the offer. Dude! Bro!

I used to love the sourdough jacks here. Also good were the monster tacos, but ever since I started eating healthier to improve my life, I haven't had an appetite for them since. The drinks here are huge! The large is almost a half liter! I don't think I've ever eaten in the restaurant part because the only time I went was through the driveway late at night with my ex-boyfriend. It's a good place for drunk food, but spend your money at a decent place for a nice lunch with friends.

I rarely eat fast food, but sometimes you just get those cravings for something completely unhealthy and greasy.. and usually, those cravings come late at night. That's when Jack in The Box's 24 hour drive thru is a glorious thing. Two tacos, with sour cream.. and sometimes a spicy chicken sandwich to go with it.. maybe some curly fries w/ buttermilk sauce. I feel my cholesterol levels rising just writing this. Anyways, Jack In The Box foots the bill when it comes to those late night fast food cravings in Kailua.. your choices are pretty limited otherwise.
