Very knowledgeable staff. Very friendly. I like that you were able to sample coffee before buying. Purchased the Peaberry Medium roast and Dark roast. Wonderful coffee. We purchased coffee to be shipped and it arrived within days. Will order again online.

HUGE disappointment! This shop has gone dramatically downhill since the last Kona vacation I had 6 years ago. I'd come here every day back then. I'm embarassed to have bragged to my husband about it, because we are sitting here now and it's absolutely TERRIBLE. My iced latte is watered down and burnt. His mocha is watered down and burnt. $11 for both and they are undrinkable. The girls are dressed unprofessionally, standing outside and trying to lure you in with pushy sales tactics, and then try to sell you everything under the sun, including tattoos (Seriously? Wtf?), clothing, vacation rentals, etc., etc. An unbelievable turn for the worse. It can't possibly be the same owners as before, back when they won all those awards. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I have to totally agree with Somefood G. Pushy sales people, (you want some real estate with that?). Overpriced coffee. Tastes no better than the worst supermarket coffee. Worst 100% Kona Coffee ever. Dont buy it. What was in that bag anyway?

Hole in the wall, but best coffee I've had on the Big Island, and super friendly staff (who offered tastes of several blends before I ordered). Tried the dark roast Kona peaberry (both drip and then an espresso shot) -- round, almost no acid, hint of chocolate, very slight woody note, medium-long finish. Also tried of my wife's decaf latte which was similarly yummy.

I had a great experience tasting coffee and chocolate here the week of the Ironman triathlon. The Peaberry Dark was phenomenal, especially as an espresso. All of the smooth flavor up front without any bitter aftertaste on the backside. Well worth it!

I am surprised by the low-ish ratings here but I have had excellent service when I transacted with Kona coffee cafe. Like many, while wandering on Ali Drive, I just ran into this store. Did not know what is so special about Kona coffee before that but now I am hooked. I got Hazelnut and medium blends, both were very tasty and unique. I now understand what is so special about Kona coffee. Please do yourself a favor and do not pay $$$ to non-Kona coffee in supermarkets. I have had coffee shipped from this place instead: at least I get what I pay for.

We were trying to find some quick food on our way to an early scuba trip, and the word "cafe" caught me eye. They don't have much for food - some pastries, and I got a sad bagel. It was 6:45AM and the lady kept trying to sell us bags of coffee, not to mention tattoos and whatever other businesses they run. It was ridiculous and it took forever, and my wife's "fresh fruit smoothie" was basically just a milkshake. I'd avoid this tourist trap - there are plenty of better coffee shops on Alii, so you might as well find somewhere with a barista who isn't trying to sell you a bunch of crap you don't want.

We had the opportunity to try some of their coffee exactly a year ago while vacationing in Kona. One word: Delishhh!! So smooth, perfectly roasted. We bought like 5 bags for friends, but kept 3 for ourselves! A must try!

Decent coffee (considering it's ON KONA!). I bought an iced coffee - indulged in free internet, and got plenty of work done before I headed out to a friend's coffee farm nearby. Drink Kona on Kona - it's a must. Ignore the cafe part of the name (food isn't great) - just get coffee and drink it black! :P

Avoid. Over priced, pushy sales people. The packaged coffee I brought home tasted stale.

Came here out of super thirst. Slightly disappointed. My frozen coffee was too dilute, and the fruit smoothies were watered down with milk. MORE FRUIT PLEASE! Also 50 cent charge for using credit card. You are aware this is a tourist area, and you charge for charging?

I've been enjoying their 100% Kona coffee since 2001 when my job brought me to Kona (I'm an airline pilot) for the first time. Trish and her staff are always friendly and they provide free samples! They don't try to hard sell the coffee; they let the coffee sell itself. They will will ship any order and you can also order online. Once you get on their e-mail list, they regularly offer specials. Their best is the Peaberry, but we also like their flavored beans such as the Macadamia Nut and the Chocolate Macadamia Nut. Yes, 100% Kona coffee is expensive, but I found their prices comparable to other shops on Alii Dr. I have not been to the Big Island for a while, so it was a pleasant surprise on our last visit to find that they now offer free internet. It allowed me to enjoy an iced coffee and passed the time online while my wife looked around the neighboring shops.
