What a magical moment! It was my first dive and my godmother who has more than 100 dives wanted me to discover the world underwater! I wasn't disappointed. First I felt very secure surrounded by professionals. The vibe on the boat was great! We even saw a Whale! After learning all the basis on the surface Mary brought me 44 feets under! Woooooo it was great! After few minutes down there Mary taped my shoulder and as I turned around I see this huge Manta Ray! It was not only a simple dive, it was a really beautiful experience that came from the heart. I can't wait to go back!
Great trip! Everybody was awesome, Steve and bob were very knowledgable and funny. I would definently do it again. We saw an octopus!!
We were referred to Sandwich Isle by a friend who'd been diving with them for many years and we could not be more pleased with them. Friendly start time (8:30am), small groups, great knowledge of local spots and what's there when you are there, snacks between dives, will take your BC and tank from you while you are in the water (so you don't have to climb up the steps with all that gear!), and a great positive attitude. If you're diving in Kona, you can't beat diving with Captain Steve and crew.

Really loved this place plan on going back before we leave. Very friendly and Chris was so helpful about things to do on the island. My husband had apple wood bacon cheese burger and was very please! I had the plablano pepper burger and thought it was the best burger I have had.
We have been watching this place get ready to open for a while, and were super stoked to go in and check it out. The burgers are AWESOME! You don't realize how much you miss a chargrilled burger until you have a delicious one. Had the South Point burger, which comes with Jack cheese and poblano peppers, along with a poblano mayo, and it was perfect! Onions rings were on point, nice and crispy without a ton of doughy breading. You can tell, chatting with the owner, that he is really excited, and proud, of this place, which is refreshing. Only 4 stars b/c of a few little kinks that I think will be worked out in time. But, I can't wait to go back and try the hot dogs and the Spicy Big Kahuna dog. Hopefully they don't add a chili dog, or I will be going there so often that I won't be able to squeeze through the door. To summarize... Get there now! So ono, like the name says!
They have great quality food, and you will get more value for your money at this restaurant than most others in Kona. While we stayed in Kona we went here twice. We ordered the problano and pepper cheese burger, BBQ Kalua pork sandwich, grilled cheese, and teriyaki chicken. The onion rings were also excellent. We watched the cook in the kitchen make our onion rings from scratch. He was actually dipping real onion pieces into a batter and then dropping them into a fryer. That seems to be a rare experience in a world full of frozen factory food. Highly recommended!

I had a latte and their Acai bowl (which is an odd combination) but both were great! I was especially happy with the acai bowl because it was full of flavor and they didn't skimp on any of the ingredients.
What a great little find! Pink Mocha Cafe is a cute coffee shop in the Kaloko industrial area of Kona. The menu is pretty standard as far as coffee shops go, with your mochas and Italian sodas and the like. The staff are very friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. Don't know what to order or curious about one of their offerings? Ask! The drinks are well made, and while the food options are limited the food is quite tasty. Definitely coming back.
Great ambience, nice views, good coffee, and friendly service from the BARISTA with long BLONDE hair.

Glad we waded back further off the street to find this place. We were actually looking to eat at a sushi place closer to the street but it seemed like service was slow, or at least seating people seemed to be taking awhile. My uncle was pleased to hear it is part of the family that owns Teshima's. Didnt make it there this trip, but really enjoyed the food here. We sampled lots of menu items and everyone was very pleased with the food ( girls didn't want their Spam, so I got lucky with extra servings!) Whatever you do, add an order of the tempura fries! We devoured two orders of them. Everyplace should have these on the menu! No alcohol here. We probably didn't need any more after the trough of Mai tais we just finished up drinking. Get off the sidewalk and come try this family run and super friendly place.
This is not Japanese food. Actually it's Korean style Japanese food. I was little disappointed.
It is an amazing place if you want a bowl of warm soup and delicious Saimin. It is so good and the price is affordable. It is especially good for Asians traveler who misses home food and just wants something warm desperately. Highly recommend the Saimin and sukiyaki!

I don't even know where to begin. So, so disappointed with this place. I don't generally write bad reviews but this needs to be said. I can honestly say this is the worst restaurant experience I have ever encountered in my life. Grab the popcorn guys, this is gonna be a long one. I was on my way out to Hilo one morning when I stopped in. It was around 8 am and the place was dead...now I know why. However, I didn't think too much of it so I decided to swing by with some friends thinking it would be a quickie breakfast. Boy, was I wrong. There was 1 party of 2 women ahead of us and we heard their order. 2 iced coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches. Doesn't seem that complicated, right? Then we ordered. 2 coffees and 3 breakfast sandwiches. We didn't realize all their food was microwaved until after we had paid. Oh well. There was one guy and one woman working at the time. The man had taken our order and I believe the woman was the owner. We went to our table to check out the view and wait for our food. After about 20 minutes we started wondering what was taking so long so we went inside. The 2 girls ahead of us were still standing there waiting for their food too. We looked behind the counter and they were opening frozen packages and there was something in the microwave. Weird that not one sandwich had come out yet. I mean what does it take, 3 minutes or so? We went to sit back down. Not kidding, another 10 minutes passed and we went back in. Not surprising, the 2 girls were still there. The man was setting 2 sandwiches down on the counter. He pointed to us so we went up and looked at the sandwiches. We told him we had ordered 3 sandwiches but he didn't believe us so we showed him the receipt. He actually had trouble reading it! Still couldn't understand so we pointed them out and he said he would start on the other one. We grabbed the 2 that were ready and went outside. The bacon looked totally raw...and when I touched my sandwich it was barely luke warm. No way I was going to eat that. My friend was equally grossed out. She grabbed our sandwiches and took them inside. Mind you, we were quite agitated at this point so our demeanor may have changed a little. But we were still very polite to the end. She returned the sandwiches and explained that we weren't going to eat them and that we would just like our money back. She was told that they couldn't refund us because we paid with a card. When my friend came back she was actually in tears. I know it sounds dramatic but we were so hungry and had been there for almost an hour at this point. So I went in and asked for a refund. The women that had ordered before us had finally gotten their food and were leaving. There was a third person working at this point. It took the 3 of them to figure out how to issue me a refund and I ended up just getting the cash back after standing there awkwardly for a few minutes. I ended up going to Burger King and getting the exact same thing I had ordered from them in about 2 minutes and for cheaper. It actually pained me to write this review because I am in the restaurant business and I hate to leave bad reviews. But I hope this was just a bad day for these guys and that they step it up.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the view! Barista was very friendly too. However, I paid about $6 for a small caramel macchiato which seemed a bit crazy.
During my visit to Kona I made a few stops here because it's a quiet little place with a friendly atmosphere and fast WiFi. I'm not much of a coffee fan in general, so the four-star rating is based on its service, location and delicious ice cream. I tried both the coconut cream and macadamia nut ice cream. I only regret that I don't have time to sample every flavor. The ice cream is great! I'll try to stop here one more time before I leave.

Awesooooooooome!!!!! I'm from LA so I know Mexican food! And let me tell you, this is the real deal. I went in a bit skeptical that there wouldn't be any Mexican food worth having in Hawaii but I was dead wrong. This place is very clean and really cute! Very nicely decorated with a big painting on the wall. They even had free samples of chips and guacamole! I loved the salsa bar! Really cute and fully stocked with good stuff. They had jalapenos, carrots, limes, a mild and a hot salsa, and one other thing I can't recall at the moment. They kept it full and very clean. I love that because a lot of places leave them kind of messy and for me, that's a big no no. But I didn't have to worry about this one. They had a very extensive menu for a quick serve place. They have everything here! And they also have daily specials...I think last night's was tamales. They also have pozole! That is a big plus in my book because a lot of places don't carry that. I didn't try it last night but I definitely will next time I go....maybe today? I had the al pastor burrito. Sooooo good! It's packed with beans and meat and pinapple and delicious-ness. The meat was very flavorful! And the tortilla was really good too! Pair it with the hot salsa from the salsa bar and you are set! Can't wait to try more stuff from this place!
After a day of snorkeling, my boyfriend and I were craving some good Mexican food. We are spoiled in San Diego, but we were hoping to get our fix here on the island. After yelp led us here, we saw that the restaurants decor and menu looking promising. I ordered a carne asada burrito and my boyfriend got a California burrito. Both of our burritos were very salty, the carne asada meat to be specific. I did like the beans in my burrito, but I found myself picking out the meat to even continue to eat it. Pros: clean, quick, meat tender, salsa bar Cons: meat salty
Alright, delicious, fast and convenient! Staff could be friendlier, and I laugh at the 'sample' area where you are asked to only take one sample, on the day I was there it was a tortilla chip and guacamole. Not a fan of their styrofoam take out containers but if you eat in its paper plates so I think they are trying to be earth friendly. Pretty good Mexican for a small town. They would earn a 4th star if they were just a bit friendlier.

It's okay. Turned off by the flies always around me and my food. Not just one fly but a few. Unsanitary. The Lau Lau burger was okay but it had no butterfish and I would expect butterfish for the price they charged with no fries. Kimchi burger was not a kimchi burger....not spicy or any kick to it. Teri burger was gross. Too expensive.
Writing this as I wait for a rainbow shave ice. So far it's been more than 20 minutes, lots of flies flying around. Really... how long does it take to make a shave ice. Sad and grossed out by all the flies. Even more irking is the ridiculous waiting time for a shaved ice. Will let everyone know how the shave ice was whenever we do get it.
Best food in Kona. We came from Waikoloa just to eat here. Everything was exceptional. I had the Kalbi this time and it rocked. And I'm a Kalbi snob. Already planning our return trip.

Surprisingly good! If you can even find this place in the first place. Had the urge for Fish and Chips and found it on Yelp. Parked the Ferrari in the back, was worried about the lack or crowds, but no autograph hounds here! Tried all 3 types of fish, and liked the Cod for tenderness and Mahi for local flavor. Chips were good too. I'll be back.
Really good fish and chips as well as chicken nuggets. The Churchill dog was also good. Very friendly owner-operators.
Sadly I could only rationalize giving two star. The portions were meager-I ordered a regular sized fish n chip meal that portioned out 2 small pieces of mediocre fried fish and soggy chips to accompany them. For an establishment that has such a limited menu I would expect them to have mastered their primary focused dish. Cutting costs by portioning out your dishes so drastically is hurting your business as well.
