Ordered the Korean garlic chicken mini lunch plate which are breaded fried boneless chicken pieces then topped with sweet sauce, and included a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. I got really full really fast, I don't know why. They give you a good serving of chicken/rice/mac. If this is a "mini" then I'm afraid to order a "regular" or "full order" because this "mini" isn't a miniature scoop of rice/mac (at least not to me) unlike some places that are really skimpy with their mini's. Pricewise is affordable. I guess it's what you can consider "fast food" because it's quick and affordable although it's not a drive-through sort of place. Food was ariiiiite. Seating is open-air/covered right next to the Bakery. Sort of like a walk-up McDonald's with no enclosed walls or playplace.

Haven't been here since my last review & boy, I wish I didn't come. Waited approximately 10-15 minutes with two other families & NO ONE said anything to any of us. All of us were getting antsy just waiting around for someone to come by but we got nothing. Countless servers looked at us & just walked away. Customer service here is obviously not their main priority, neither is their food quality. My hash browns were so tiny, I ate it in about 3 bites. Absolutely despise this place, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I love Zippy's, I really do but this location is truly a hit or miss.. and this is why. Their food is bomb, i mean, there's my favorites, the Korean Fried Chicken (I get it with salad), their saimin, (which I used to get all the time when I was in middle school at their Kalihi branch) and their loco moco (who doesn't love a loco moco?) Bottom line, they have good food, which is why they even got stars but their service, especially at this location, needs a lot of improvement. I came here after work around 9:45 so the restaurant was pretty empty. It was not busy at all but there was no host working at the front counter so even though the restaurant barely had anyone, we had to wait. I don't mind waiting but if there's all these empty tables and there's not that many people, why weren't we seated? By this time, a good 10 minutes has passed and we still didn't get a table. Finally, a guy comes and seats us. Unfortunately, we weren't given water or menus. He sat us down but didn't take our order and no one followed up after him to take our orders and give us menus / water either. I really just wanted to eat which is why it was so frustrating that we weren't served. I looked around and the staff stayed in the back, and i don't know if they were just there to talk or whatever but no one was out in the dining to even check up on the customers. We were frustrated and so we just left. It is unfortunate that this happened because my family comes here often and we've never really experienced terrible service but this one just really took it home. Other zippy's locations such as Nimitz and Makiki are good when it comes to service but at this location, it is inconsistent. This location does have nice workers and all that and that is why this situation really bothered me. Maybe they had an off night? but seriously, good food at a restaurant is fantastic to have but service is what really makes a difference.

Wow!! I can't believe that the service here at Dillingham is really bad. Upon arriving at the restaurant, no one to greet you and we literally waited for 5 minutes or maybe longer for someone to help us. Two waitresses sees is waiting and all they say is "we'll be right with you". Mind you we were the only ones waiting for a table and it was just me and my daughter. Finally after my daughter giving the pissed off look, someone finally assisted us to our table. Next we sit down to look at the menu, again another 5-10 min go by and no one comes to take our order. So we wait patiently until finally one of the waiter/waitresses came and took our order. No "thank you for waiting", just I'll take your order. I have been to many Zippys locations and this is by far the worst service. At least we didn't have to wait long for our food!!!

Business breakfast with a coworker. Service is fast and food was good. Always more food than you can eat. Waitress kept my coffee cup full which is always a bonus first thing in the morning. Only issue was large amount of flies all around. Kept swatting to keep off of our food. I know open air restaurants struggle with this but this seemed to be more than usual.

To Monica C: Last visit was September 10th. If reports are even getting to the manager, obviously he/she can't fix the problem this location has. All you have to do is look back at comments from all the other customers about the lack of attention/service.

I used to go to zippy's all the time, for many years. Recently, I've stopped because I didn't want to eat so much fast food. I came back a week ago because I was tired of cooking and wanted to eat the chili frank, a longtime favorite of mine. I got my chili frank to go. When I got home, I opened it, ready to dive in! Put the chili into my mouth and ate it. I thought, wait, what is this? Why does it taste like this? Is this how it tastes now a days? I was thoroughly disgusted. I tried to take another bite with a hot dog this time. But I just couldn't, I immediately lost my appetite. My grandma ordered a wun tun min. Because I couldn't eat my chili frank anymore, I took a bit of her saimin and wun tun. I mean, how can you screw this one up? I ate the wun tun..and again, disgusted. What the heck is going on?! It did NOT taste good at all!! I am so upset by this experience. I probably won't go back to Zippy's unless it's for breakfast...because I think it's tough to mess that one up...well at least I hope it doesn't happen......

Terrible service, very slow. Didn't get our drinks or utensils until 15 min. Ordered complete meal and got my soup with the meal! Savannah was our waitress. Do not sit in her section!! Didn't refill soda, didn't check up on us!

Called my order in. Waited about 10 minutes to pick up my food. Got there, stood in line. It was extremely hot. Everyone in there kept saying how hot it was. Especially with this summer heat. Mind you it was night time. Lol myself along with everyone else was pouring with sweat. Lol anyways. Waited about 20 more minutes in the line to pay for my food with only 2 people in front of me and it was hot as hell and I was getting impatient. But anyways, food was delicious and customer service was A+. The cashier was super friendly and apologized for the wait. :)

Saddened to see that this zippy's has the lowest amount of star ratings compared to the others. This was my first time dining at this location with my husband, daughter, and in-laws. I wish we had gotten our waitress's name! She was wonderful. Even though it was busy and they were short handed, she came often to refill our coffee and water and made sure we were taken care of. I've been to several different zippy's restaurants where we have always been neglected, this was the best one we've been to. I'm unsure of how the take-out side is, but the dine-in service was perfect. Why only 4 stars? Well, the women's restroom was the filthiest restroom I have ever been in! I almost took my 2 year old daughter elsewhere to do her business. One of the stalls had diarrhea all over the outside of the toilet bowl and no toilet paper! Then as I was going to wash my hands another customer had told me one of the faucets wasn't working. It doesn't end there, the automatic paper towel dispenser was broken. I had to stick my fingers under to pull it out. Yikes! Please do a renovation on your bathroom, zippy's! It's quite an embarrassment.

Growing up in Hawaii, Zippy's is a staple part of your diet. Everyone knows of it, everyone eats it, it can be found anywhere on the island and there is always something that you will like on the menu. Best of all they are open 24/7 and they are cheap. They serve just about every local plate lunch item around, as well as breakfasts, soups, chilis, and all types of good stuff. Rather than review each and every dish (because let's face it, we've probably all tried every item on their menu), I'll just list my personal favorites: Chili - The famous Zippy's chili, I prefer to get it as chili rice with cheese. A little tabasco on top and it's perfect. Portugese sausage sandwich - Only available after 11pm through the morning, this is filled with cheese and sausage and is absolutely delicious. Korean chicken - Sweet. Crispy. Great. Orange bang - So smooth and so sweet, try this as an orange bang shake if you really want to rock your world. Overall, if you're in Hawaii, you have to eat at Zippy's at least once.

What can I say about Zippy's that no one already knows. They're a favorite of many and the go-to place for comfort food. We frequent the Dillingham location for breakfast that some of our regular waitresses already know what we're going to order and that my husband eats everything with chopsticks; even pancakes! They always have the chopsticks in hand without us asking haha The morning crew are awesome and we always get great service. We always get great service from Loida, Erlinda, Ana and Daniel oh gosh I can't remember the other ladies; I can see their faces in my head and wanted to mention them also; argh so fail on my part. I will edit my review once we go back when I get their names =). Best night waitresses are Naomi and Char!!!

    (4)
  • Maria R.

Another great place to have in town. I frequent here a lot because my boyfriend gets off super late in the night and what better way to eat dinner at a 24 hour place? The night workers here in this location know we come here about 3 to 4 times a week, down to our orders and all of them have very great personalities and service. Loida, Ryan, Jessica, Naomi, and their newest employee Guillermo are the ones we're familiar with lol so give them recognition! Customer service is great, but sometimes the wait for the food can be super annoying because it takes really long. Other times the food comes out quickly. Hence the three star, because of the wait. The food is always great though. Dining Area: Open 24 hours. Open outdoor seating. Sometimes it gets super busy in the dining area and the wait can even be more excruciating especially for those who are extremely hungry (which is why we dine in the restaurant). The outside dining area is always clean but sometimes I'd see a rat pop out of the bushes because its an open seating area. I have no problem with it; its understandable, just as long as it doesn't go near me. Restaurant: Closes at 2 am. Great services from employees and food comes out quickly at this area. Food is always good here. My only problem with this location is that sometimes it smells like mold and lots of moisture, not sure if there's something wrong with the AC unit but the AC broke a couple months ago so idk if that has to do with that. Parking: Lots of parking available! We always get the Surf Pac and the Korean Fried Chicken here. I also love the way they make their hot chocolate here!

SO COLD. Cold. Brrrrr. It's soo cold. Cold. Cold. Cold. Cold. Winter is coming! The night is dark and full of terrors! Cold. So cold. Cold. Cold. I had the Korean chicken salad, and it was soooooo yummy! (Shiver. I'm cold.). The chicken was so tasty, I hardly used any salad dressing. (Brrrrr. Shiver). The greens were a mix of tender baby greens and were a delight. ( brrrrr). Jeff had spaghetti. It was good.

  • Chris O.

I always come here for one of my favorite omelettes! It would b kinda expensive 2 buy an omelette w/so many added fillings like I like-so I just buy a veggie omelette and a side of ham! Then I ask the person who takes my order if they could kindly chop it up & put it inside as well! Of course they're more than happy to do so!!

  • Rhesa S.

Although I frequent here due to location, I continue to be amazed at how the customer service continues to be way below expectations. I wonder if their management cares about the poor customer service, dirty restrooms, and s-l-o-w service for food & drink. I've been to other Zippy's locations and this location is--hands-down--the worst in customer service. The food is okay--breakfast menu items are always spot-on. Tip: Order as soon as you're seated. When your food finally arrives, ask for the check and be prepared to pay when he check is dropped. Otherwise--and trust me on this--you will wait forever.

I came here to pick up a quick lunch to take out. The hamburger steak plate was $8.75 and came with two scoops rice and macaroni salad. The rice grabbed my attention as it was a little undercooked. The macaroni salad was okay. The hamburger steak was below what I have had at another Zippy's location. It needed a little bit of a grilling to give it that crust. As it is it was very plain even though it came with onions and gravy. The gravy and onion was good and is the typical gravy you'll get at a drive in. All in all, I won't be ordering this again.

    (2)
  • Nadine J.

The food here is the basic local food. Teri beef, hamburger steak, chilli frank plate, Portuguese bean soup, and the chilli that they are known for. Prices are good. There's a drive in and a restaurant. There's also a bakery that sell good doubash cake and apple turnovers.

    (4)
  • Kerstyn T.

I love the local favorites here every time I come. Fruit punch is by for my favorite drink! Saimin is so delicious as well! I would bring a jacket though because it gets cold in every single zippy's restaurant I go to. They don't like turning down the A/C for anyone. Lol

    (4)
  • Veronica B.

I wanted to eat at a place the locals eat. Yes, I'm here visiting and I want to see the the tourist attractions but I want to feel like I'm experiencing real Hawaiian activities as well. Eating like a local is always on my list. This place was filled with locals and although it had mixed reviews about the food, my friend and I were really happy with our meals. She ordered the mushroom burger wich I tried also and was very tasty and I ordered the curry chicken katsu, and I loved it! The small portion was perfect for me. I was very satisfied with the food, the service was also good.

    (4)
  • Po'u L.

Loida the server was so nice, genuine. That's the kind of service that makes you wanna come back. Tried the mushroom, choi sum omelette. Not bad. Saimin, chicken, grilled cheese. Always good choices. Thank you!

Location: convenient (across City Square) Parking: in a strip mall so not a prob Ambiance: it's like a miniature restaurant. Booths are low and so is the ceiling. You can see cars out from the left side window that cars are parked higher than the booth. Strange "antique-y" posters (think paintings of creepy 1920's era dolls) and fake plants. Service: was seated quickly, but after that everything was downhill. Took 10 min to get water. Ordered drinks and waited another 10 min before asking for it. Food took another 20 min (with maybe 5 other tables there). Had to wait another 15 min to flag down waitress for the check. Food: typical Zippys fare. My dad was so irritated he gave less than $2 tip

  • Raquel C.

There's a sign on the sliding door now, to make sure to close up right away, so that's good. However the woman at the counter was highly lacking in customer service. She messed up my order twice and never apologized. I waited 25+ minutes for 2 saimins and a sm chili w/rice. The manager came to help her and he didn't even acknowledge me or apologize either. At least one of the counter ladies was pleasant. I think im done with this zippys.

    (3)
  • Charity S.

This zippys isn't a place to eat, first to start off the night manager on the fast food side is so cocky! I told her that my meal wasnt supposed to have Mac salad and she said "it's okay put it on the side" then I was like um no. She said took my plate back and took it off her self then gave it back. Not only does this look bad, I was an employee for zippys &' if your customer wants a change you throw it away &' stay new.

    (1)
  • Kayla B.

Had the corn beef hash with eggs and strawberry waffle... The corn beef hash was OK had good flavor but was a little burnt and was not a patty lol... The strawberry waffle was good waffle wasn't burnt and was cooked perfectly... Our server was very sweet and attentive..

    (3)
  • Mary B.

Hmm.. Why does their Sierra Mist taste so weird?!? I think they need to clean their machines!! Also, if our waitress paid a little more attention.. She'd notice that my glass of soda was still completely full and should ask me what was wrong... I didn't wanna have to pay for it but we paid anyway... That was where tip went! Other than that, food is always good. Just stick with water.

    (3)
  • Edmund G.

Hands down this has got to be the worst service Zippys on the island. Took them a while to seat us and than a lot longer to serve us. The host had to bring us water and take our order. I like Zippys but apparently not this location.

    (2)
  • Tim K.

Two stars only because our waitress, Loica, was so kind and apologetic for the amazingly long wait. Started at breakfast and by the time the food came it was well into lunch time. Seriously, Zippy is not. Hire more or faster cooks.

    (2)
  • What No Flying Cars Yet ?.

First and probably last experience at this location. The super long wait to sit down should have been a clue for us to leave. The food came out cold, even the chili. We were there about 15 minutes before getting acknowledged. The sad thing is it was just ridiculously chaotic, the staff was trying but management was non existent or invisible if there were there I never saw them. This was 1 1/2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Yes, it took that long at this Zippys, for 4 people. Lame

    (1)
  • Evan H.

I always receive rather good service from the wait staff inside. Be sure to be wearing a jacket if you get sat near the windows. The AC gets super cold on that back side of the restaurant. This zippy's gives me everything I look for. Easy parking and high level of consistency. I never eat in the take out side because it's ghetto and you'll be hassled for change.

    (4)
  • Al D.

Friendly service. Not the fastest service but not the slowest. Foodwise, there's always something for everyone here. Not Roy's but you'll be satisfied. Parking lot is a bit of a mess these days.

My cousin and I decided to try out the outdoor eating area of this zippys while waiting for her clothes to dry. Shes a big fan of zippys and so am I usually. I ordered a hot chocolate and she ordered the somen salad. Her somen salad was good. The workers weren't very friendly. Maybe they were stressed out and tired?idk. Anyways when I got my hot chocolate I noticed there was no whip cream in it. I decided to let this pass, what I couldn't let pass was that it was super watery. I plucked up the courage to get back in line and ask if they could in any way put more chocolate/another packet in. When she stared at me blankly I pulled out some money and was like "I'll pay you..." the older filipino lady then turned to the local gal next to her and said "she wants more chocolate" To which she responded with a little more attitude than I thought was appropriate. "Why"?! She turned to me and was like "you have to stir it"... Apparently they couldn't be bothered to stir my hot chocolate. I am not usually one to complain but I didn't come out to eat to stir my own hot chocolate. I wouldn't have cared if they were at least nice about it. They could've just said something like, so sorry about that, we've got some stir straws right over there for you! I don't mean to be picky, but being a server in the industry, who always attempts to give the best to her customers, I know that the small things are make it or break it for your business..... might give them one more chance, maybe they were having a bad night?

    (2)
  • Tiffany L.

Not the best Zippys on the island. Would take little longer here on the outside. It's also silly that you can order croutons with your salad in the restaurant and they don't have it available for take out.

    (3)
  • Chad S.

This is one of my favorite "go to" places. How can you live in Hawaii and not love Zippy's? It's our "Denny's" just a lot better! It's certainly NOT a cousine of any sort, but it's tasty, and not terribly expensive. The dessert selection in the bakery is always a plus, too!

    (3)
  • Sheldon A.

This is a generous rating! The oxtail is bomb but the customer service is always in question! Although this zippys doesn't have the greatest service, it's still WAYYYY better then the others on the island! Zippys will always be the go to spot tho

    (4)
  • Lei N.

Dined in with some friends. Got seated right away though there was a lot of people. I mean it was lunch time. Our waitress was nice and always came to check up on us. I wanted so many different dishes! Settled for the mini spaghetti with garlic bread and corn. ( instagram.com/p/aO-vVynt… ) It was filling though it was a mini and I got extra corn from my one friend that happened to order the same thing. Love corn!

Loida the waitress gave the best service I ever had at a Zippy's. Friendly, attentive and helpful.

The go-to place for those late-night hunger craves, when you just don't know where else to eat, or are just too lazy to think of where else to go and just want to eat! If you're a kama'aina, then you know about Zippy's probably since the day you were born. If you're not, it's one of the few places where you can eat ANYTIME you feel like it 24/7 (like Denny's and another local fav Anna Miller's). This location is generally pretty good. The restaurant is seldom super-crowded where there is a wait for seating and the wait staff is pretty good. Food comes out pretty quickly. My favorites are the Won Ton Mein, Spaghetti w/Garlic Bread, Hamburger Steak, Zip Pac and occasionally the Oxtail Soup (which a lot of others love as well). Prices are "ok", although depending on what you order. The food is pretty consistent, so you can expect it to taste the same everytime you order it. A good family restaurant.

  • Randy M.

Restaurant - Its a mixed bag whenever I come here. Had to wait awhile to be seated. There were empty tables but I guess they were understaffed. Once I was seated, my waitress came right away & took my order. I expected another wait nut BAM! my food arrived in less then 5 minutes. She came back every so often to check up on me which I appreciated. When it was time to check out, that took awhile. I played with my phone to occupy my time. Finally she came by & apologized for the wait. So overall I'd still come back though if the weather is nice I prefer going to the dine out portion in the front.

  • Juliene C.

This was our first stop straight out of the plane. We made the cab driver stop here before he dropped us off at home. My husband put in a phone order. I love how this is considered fast food, but its more of a Denny's to me. Anyway, i always order the surf pack with a side of sunny side up eggs. It consist of white rice topped with furikake, spam, fried chicken, fried fish filet, & teriyaki beef. I think it cost $9+. I could really do without all the meat & just eat it with the egg & fish though. But if you want something quick & filling this is the place!

    (4)
  • Suzette G.

Just left from there and the wait was horrendous at the fast food. Receipt time was 5:58pm and I didn't get my food until 6:20. This is definitely NOT fast food! Very annoyed right now more annoyed than hungry!!

    (1)
  • Jesse R.

The food at Zippy' s is pretty much always consistent, but I really wish they would do something about the birds flying in to the dining area, other than that I like to try the different special entree's whenever I go in there. Had the chicken katsu curry, the roast pork is good, and you can not really go wrong with the hamburger steak. If you can not get the hamburger steak right then that's a place I will not return to. I also been ordering the chilli without the beans lately, I guess there were a lot of request to take the beans out, I never really liked having the beans in mines so I am happy you can order without them. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE BIRDS!!!!

  • Edwin F.

Poor customer service on a an early Thursday morning. I get how it can maybe be busy and understaffed to where orders aren't being sent out on a timely manner. But what I do not get is how can a phone order that has been taken 10 minutes prior to arrival and be paid for, take another 20 minutes when its fully staffed and other people's orders are being sent out ok. It does not take almost half an hour to make a mini hamburger steak and mini katsu plate, let alone a regular chili rice altogether. I had to approach the counter girl and say that the order that has just been packed and been placed on the side was alreadh paid for, yet it was not taken into initiative to be called out. Lack of communication, thats fine. Just try to improve next time. Lastly, good thing I checked on the order, my mini hamburger steak wasn't gravy all over like i called for, and I noticed that one of my pepsi drinks looked like rasberry ice tea.....it was. Lets go Dillingham. I work at kapahulu and I won't tolerate this ever again. I usually do not do these kind of things, but how will you improve if someone didn't keep it real on how your standards go. Deuces

Food is ok...not as good as some other places. Their dine-in area is small and service is slow.

  • Otda G.

Restaurant side just had some remodeling or touch ups done to it. Ordered some Sierra Mist the other night and it tasted as if the machine needed cleaning. No bueno. Major health hazard. Saimin noodles tasted old too. Those are a couple signs of much needed quality control.

  • Mary A.

Worst service ever. Got ignored, Cant get the order right. Takes forever and still didnt get it right. Dont waste your time. If i could it would be zero stars.

    (1)
  • Heather C.

I wonder why yelp doesn't let people give zero star reviews... Anyways, we have been waiting 40 minutes for two chicken chilli plates because they have to refry the chicken. Wait, what? Does it really take 40 minutes? And why don't you just offer us another plate as a substitution instead of a 40 minute wait??? Ughhh. If the hubby wasn't so hungry I would totally just ask for a refund right now.

    (1)

Waited in line for 12 minutes with only one person in front of me while the cashier kept getting the order wrong. Finally placed my order and then waited 22 minutes! !!! Unbelievable!

Seriously, my son and I ordered a mini chili chicken, Korean chicken plate, and a large likikoi and it takes 16 minutes? Are you kidding me?

  • Brandon M.

I've never seen such incompetent workers at a Zippy's before. I phone in the order, the woman answers the phone and gets the order correct twice while repeating it back. So I would think that my order would be correct upon arrival. I order a chili moco and I get a loco moco, I order a Sierra Mist and I get a fruit punch, I order a Teri burger with cheese and get no cheese. What's funny is, the woman who took my order on the phone was the same person who rang me up. I received a completely different order, on top of that, she looks at me like a deer in headlights like "Welp sorry, next" doesn't even make eye contact with me after giving me my mystery order. This Zippy's needs to take notes from the other ones around the island, idiots.

Thumbs up to this restaurant! We enjoy having meals here because the waitresses are so very courteous and friendly. One day last week we decided to try the new Liliha Bakery on Nimitz and it was so busy we thought we'd go next door to Zippy's on Nimitz. We walked in stood there at the reception area and the waitresses just glanced our way and ignored us not one of them acknowledged our presence so after a few minutes we left the restaurant. We will not return there again as this is not the first time this has happened. However, we've been to Zippy's on Dillingham quite a few times and there are wait persons who always greet and acknowledge us with a smile. We would like to especially thank Loida, Erlinda, and Milah for their courteous and efficient service - it makes our dining experience a pleasure. This is our local go to restaurant.

Zippy's is good food at all hours, and the staff are friendly. Nothing "wow" or great, but it won't disappoint any craving you have, anytime of the day. Napoleons bakery is pretty good too!

i always come to zippys & order their short stack pancake & saimin & steak. great prices. friendly services & clean place to eat with family & friends. i super duper loved their orange bang drink, i always need to have that drink whenever i order food from zippys. I also order that as a regular drink on a very hot day too. Wonderful workers & great environment place to have a great meal with your special someone or friends or family members. The bathroom is really clean & neat. they always get my order right on the screen. Its closer to my job to get food on the go.

Phone ordering sucks. They don't get your order right and it's never ready when you get there. AND some of the ladies that work there are rude.

I've been a customer here for as long as I can remember...eat in, take out, or catering. Just need to be patient when it's busy and be sure to tip your waitress good. You'll arrive hungry and leave satisfied.

UGH, it seems like every time I enter Kalihi, something goes wrong. From that sneaky 3 foot deep pot hole on liliha st (that thankfully got filled in recently) to the traffic I always seem to encounter, to the witnessing someone's car getting broken into as I was getting into my car (yes, I broke the law and called the authorities while I was speeding away). OH, BTW THIS ISNT THE "KALIHI" ZIPPYS, it is the DILLINGHAM Zippys.....Anyways, I was in a rush, and I'll have you know, I'm usually a very laid back kind of girl. I had to repeat my order 3 times. I don't have an accent. I am a college graduate. I teach math and am used to having to repeat things. BUT REALLY? To order something that is on the menu and have to repeat myself....slowly.....3 times? -___- I was sitting on the bench waiting for my breakfast, eagerly waiting I might add and see what looks like mine come out of the kitchen. It waits on the counter for a good minute before the zippys lady packages it up. And then she walks away just leaves it on that counter between the kitchen and the pick up window. What the heck??? Is it mine?? is it? is it? is it? (remember, I am in a rush and stressed out). I give her a few seconds and she comes back and just stands at the pick up window.....I go up and point to the bag and ask if it is my number. Zippys lady: "What?" Are you freaking kidding me? How do they not understand anything I say? This was a different lady from the one who took my order. -____- It ends up it was mine. -____- again.

I love going to Zippy's for their chili. This location is 24 hours which is even better when I need my fix!

Let me just say that out of all my experiences at all the Zippy's (which is quite a lot) I have never had such excellent service from a Zippy's staff until now. I believe she deserves to be praised for her customer service. My friend and I were at this Zippy's location on Sunday, April 14 at around 7:30 and it was steady traffic. Our waitress was Winnie and she answered all our questions regarding our order and even suggested a few plates and asked if we wanted our bread grilled. I asked about my order of the Garlic Miso Chicken and she explained the sauces especially when I wasn't particular about anything that was mayo or anything cream of that texture. I was also impressed with her tending to details regarding our needs such as giving us a little cup for our ketchup, more napkins, and even take out boxes for our meals and she did this without our requests. It felt like we were being taken care of not just for our meals but for our dining experience! My friend also appreciated that Winnie gave him a cup so that he could take out his fruit punch. I rarely give 5 stars but this Zippy's definitely got it because of the service.

I just ate my 4th Surf Pac/Zip Pac since coming back from Hawaii on Monday. I live in LA. Two things can be concluded from this statement. (1) I brought 4 things of Zippy's back from Hawaii, right before my flight, because it was so damn good. (2) They keep amazingly well - 5 min in the toaster oven for the fried chicken (best fried chicken in Hawaii) and 2 min in the microwave for the rest. Aloha

PARTY of 2 ENVIRONMENT It was a little late and I was in the mood to try out zippys at their restaurant. It's a little old, but it was doable. FOOD I ordered the Zip Pac. Basically if you never been to zippys before, this dish is with fish, fried chicken, steamed rice with furukake, spam, I hope I didnt leave out anything. It's really good. I remember always ordering this when I was younger living on the island. Brings back memories. SERVICE Our waitress was very nice. She always refilled our drinks and kept on asking if we needed anything else. She was extremely nice. zippys has always been a local favorite. I need to go back and try out the chili again. I use to live on Hawaii and zippys is always one of the stops to eat.

Worst Zippys experience ever. Will never ever go to that location. The host was friendly, but when we sat, table wasn't wiped very clean. She should've checked before sitting us. Waiter was okay, took our order and laid the silverwares. How could he not see that the knives were filthy. I asked for straw. He never came with it. Asked another waiter, he wasn't thrilled to give us. Food tasted burnt..think they had a kid as chef that night.

Dear Zippys, I've never told you this but my husband has never liked you. In fact, he says terrible things about you when you're not around and I've spent the last six years defending your honor. You and me, we go waaaay back. I've seen you hundreds if not a thousand times in my life and so many of my childhood, teen, and young adult memories include your smiling face. I've always said your chocolate pudding is the best, your french fries are super crisp, your chocolate shake rocks my socks and your zip min is YUM. So when my husband starts griping about you I smack him and say "Shut yo face!". No, I don't really, but sometimes I imagine this in my mind as my eye twitches in his direction. However, I can't help but notice you've gone a bit downhill. Your service has been extremely shoddy, servers at three different locations messed up my groups orders, and your food quality is just not the same. In fact, you once forgot us completely, which was amusing as there were 9 of us and we were sitting smack in the middle of the restaurant. You would think someone would have noticed that we had neither menus nor drinks nor food for one HOUR, but it worked out well as we were all full and only present as Assagios wouldn't let us stay past closing. Anyhow, a few days ago I dragged my husband to your Dillingham location and was so very embarrassed for you AND me. His burger patty was smaller than a McDonalds cheeseburger, my loco moco was less than mediocre, and the banana royale had banana pieces that were black in the middle! Plus my kids pudding and jello came out with no whipped cream, which is just so wrong. I'm sorry to say that I can't defend you when you're not going to hold up your end of the bargain and serve tasty food. I can't speak for every location and I only hope Zippys in other parts of the island are still the establishments of my childhood. Suffice to say I will only be able to find out without my husband as he refuses to ever eat at Zippys again. Sincerely, Angela

I'm surprised that no one has Yelped the Dillingham location. This is usually the first spot I hit after I get off the plane heading east from the airport. You can expect this local diner chain to open late and all your beloved favorites from the chain are guaranteed to be served. Most people opt for the casual to-go/eat in option in the breezy covered patio. There's also the sit-down restaurant portion. The food is a bit different - a little fancier - but then you have to pay tip and behave with your real utensils and white plates. What I always get at the counter: The Zip Pac: 1 piece of korean fried chicken, one piece of breaded fried mahimahi, one slice of cooked spam, a handful of teri beef (teriyaki for the mainlanders), a bed of rice with furikake seasoning on top, and a slice of daikon (pickled radish). What I don't understand is why the Surf Pac has no fish while the Zip Pac does. It makes more sense to link up Surf and fish. I also get the regular Chili (locals eat Chili with rice and this one is served so) and a large Lilikoi (passion fruit), easy ice. Orange Bang! would be a close second but I have yet to execute that option. All chains of Zippy's have Napoleon's Bakery stuck next to like conjoined twins, and this one on Dillingham is no exception. I find their sweets a bit too sweet and heavy though. No trip back to Hawaii begins without Zippy's for me. Once I get that Zip Pac in front of me, I can safely say that I'm home. (Home is loosely used since I don't live there anymore)

Waited 20mins for a kokua pac, mini fried noodles and 2 pieces of chicken..so sad..come here if you want to wait long and have a cashier who doesn't greet and smile at you not once but three times when I'm here..GUARANTEED will NOT refer zippys..

This location is aight. They don't advertise too much specials as much as the other Zippys I guess. I've been to the restuarant side a couple times and it's aight too. The service is aight. The food is aight. I like Zippys food though. It is good to me. Conveniently located in the Dillingham Shopping Plaza area you can go to many other places. I kinda like the atmosphere of the outside dining area. Some people don't like it but I like it. The dining area and even location kinda reminds me of the Liliha location. Restuarant staff are aight. I remember it took a long time to get food one time. Usually it takes a while to get your food in most cases anyway. Most of the time I come here in the night time for a late night snack or meal before going home. Yelp 365 Challenge #12/365

All Zippy's are not created equal and this one is just down right scary in my book. I had a workshop at HCC down the street and Zippy's seemed like the fastest lunch option. My BF ordered the teri beef sandwich combo (teri beef sandwich, saimin, soda) and I ordered the teri beef sandwich with a large orange bang. I am addicted to those damn orange bangs and I don't know why!! Our food came fairly quickly and we looked for a table to sit and eat at. This Zippy's is really dirty and had to create a tablecloth out of napkins. What really put this Zippy's down the drain (literally) was the bathroom! I went to wash my hands after eating a very messy teri beef sandwich and refused to close the door while rinsing my hands. GROSS. Go here when you're drunk, go here when you have no other option. Or do what I'm going to do and don't ever go here because you're a germaphobe and you need to be able to sleep at night. I am currently being awoken by nightmares of that bathroom.

I've never been to this zippys location before and it's probably a good reason I didn't. We first arrived to the sit down restaurant side around 9:30 pm and was told that it would be a few minutes and that their cleaning the table so we said okay we will wait thinking it would only be five to ten minutes. After fifteen minutes went by I check with the server and she said their almost done. Thirty minutes went by and still no table so I ask another server what was taking so long. Remind you other people was getting sat and they checked in after us. Come to find out there was no table being cleaned and the server literally lied to us which pissed me off. I asked for a manager and complained to him and all he said was "I can't tell a table to hurry up and leave" which I understand and told him that next time the server shouldn't say a "couple of minutes" when they didn't have any table available for us. We left and decided to go to the vineyard location where the servers are excellent and service is at 100%.

Every year Napoleon's Bakery at the Zippys on Dillingham has not failed my family on Christmas day. Napoleon's bakery has always been the reliable back up to Dee-Lite Bakery in Kalihi (closed on Christmas day) of where my family likes to purchase desserts for holiday get togethers. Open from midnight until noon on Christmas they are always well stocked and staffed so the line moves quickly. There is always also a manager around too asking of what needs to be restocked at the display counter at the front. Minus one star for the homeless creepos that are wandering around in the parking lot but every year I know my dad will say on Christmas "we don't have enough desserts for dinner we need to buy more" and I know Napoleons Bakery on Zippys will be my reliable go to for those last minute purchases.

Very disappointed in how long it took to get a sandwich out. I ordered a mushroom prime Burger with onions and it took TEN minutes for it to come out and there were only 2 orders prior to me, which came out 2 minutes after they ordered. Burger was mediocre with little to no flavor.

I have been going to this Zippys for a long time. When I was younger and Kam Bowl still existed next to Kamehameha Shopping Center on N School St, my family would go here after those bowling league nights. My dad was in the league and they would usually finish around midnight. My family would go to this Zippys, sit in the restaurant and have breakfast. That was my fondest memory of this place. As I grew older, I have mostly eaten at the restaurant with my friends. After seeing the City Lights every year late at night, this would be the first place we would think to go for late night munchies. Even after those nights out in the bars and clubs, my friends and I would always seem find ourselves meeting up here. Fried chicken, Korean chicken, omelettes, french toast, loco moco, chili moco...to name a few favorites that satisfy my tummy and sends me to bed a happy camper.

Zippys is one of my favorites! However the last few times we have been to this particular one the service has been extremely slow and our order has been wrong more than once. Food quality is still good, and it is a clean restaurant.

I've been here a few times, sometimes parking is good and sometimes not. It's the same with the service, sometimes it is good and sometimes it is not. The most recent time I went there I was craving for some popcorn chicken and I guess I haven't been to Zippys in years I was disappointed to find out that they discontinued it and replaced it with chicken nuggets yuck.

I'm being generous with this rating and it's because this is our favorite Zippy's to go. First off, why do I like going to this Zippy's? Well, it's conveniently located in Kalihi on Dillingham, which for me is great because if I'm coming from town then it's a nice pit stop on the way home (I also like the Nimitz Zippy's but not the 'crowd' or atmosphere as much, and the Vineyard Zippy's is too far mauka and horrible to boot). Also, the restaurant side (we never eat at the 'fast food' side) reminds my girlfriend of a dollhouse. It has something to do with the low windows, wooden frames, and paint job--but it makes her giddy for some reason which always makes me smile. Plus, I just get a good vibe in general being there...almost like the feeling I'd get eating at Bob's Big Boy in Mapunapuna (before the tragic fire) or Wailana (minus all the annoying tourists and Waikiki crawlers). I think it has to do with the layout, look and design...something retro-ish like a diner almost. Very cozy and relaxed. Why do I say I'm being generous? Well, the service here is really hit and miss. And I do mean hit and miss. Sometimes we have great attention and prompt service from the waitresses here. Then other times, like my most recent visit, the service is horrid. Such as having to wait to sit for ten minutes because nobody was at the front (or even checked). And having to wait for things like water or checks for extensive minutes when we were ready to leave 10+ minutes ago. It's things like that which sometimes make me question coming here...but I do really love the atmosphere (of the restaurant side). It's homey, cozy, laid back with a throwback sort of feel to it. It *is* my favorite Zippy's. I just wish the service was more consistent.

On Wednesday night, June 12, between 9 - 10 p.m. I ordered the Somen salad dish. The lettuce was old and was not able to eat it. I hardly saw the waitress so didn't tell her about it. This was my 2nd bad experience with a Zippy's Restaurant. 1st one was at McCully Zippy's. Those 2 were a real turn off to Zippy's.

Next stop after dancing all night long and downing shots of patron? Zippys!! My friends and I usually go here because I am the DD and my friends live in Kalihi so this is the closest thing to them and the only restaurant that is open on that side of town. We went here to dine-in because... 1) we thought we would have better service 2) less drunk people 3) more comfortable seating area but we quickly learned that there was no difference in there as the take-out area. We knew that it was going to be a long late night dinner when we had to wait 20 minutes to get someone to come to the front door and get us seated. This is around 3 in the morning and it is so empty that you can hear people outside talking in the parking lot. I wish that they had a bell at the entrance so they know that people are actually waiting. So we get seated and I hate when I get to the table that is still wet from the stinky towels that they wipe the counters with and the chairs. It just ruins your whole experience when you get that perfume of that towel, yuck, can't they use another one for every 2 tables that they wipe down? I guess not! The wait service was nothing grand, it was the usual no wait-help, slow service, rude and very pushy with everything. She must have been assuming that we were all drunk and that we could not function but dang lady you don't have to be so rude! So we finally get our check and I get up to pay for it at the entrance with the register because I did not want to wait another minute for our waitress to come back to our table, so I get there and another waitress/manager is at the desk and she tells me that she can't ring me up. Really? Why? her excuse... only your waitress can ring you up! What a bunch of crap, so yeah I was gifted with more patience. Only if our late night cravings would consist of chili mixed plates, saimin, orange bang, or korean fried chicken! Only if.. but until then we are gonna go to zippys no matter what kind of bogus service we got!

A whole week in HI and no Zippy's? Yup, guilty. Unfortunately, it's just not a must for me when I visit. If I end up here, I'd so much rather hit up Napoleon's bakery than anything else. We were contemplating getting food to bring to the airport and stopped at this location after Best Buy and welll, let's just say I walked in and walked out when I remembered Hanks was just a couple mins away! Sorrrrry, Zippy's!

I've been going here since I was little. Every time I would enter the dining section, the service is alright. The waiters & waitress are mostly nice, but some of their abilities on waiting on people are just not quality service. Sure their nice, but they won't walk around a lot to see if you need your glass of water to be filled. If you want fast service & not want to deal with their waiters & waitress I suggest going to the take-out area outside. Just to order the food, I really wouldn't consider eating on the outside tables either just because the tables seem to just be dirty & unwiped at most time.

too bad there is no negative stars that can be dished out in reference to there phone orders... had called to place an order and upon arriving to get my dinner, the guy at the window said he didn't have my name or order. *I'm like, r u serious?* Then the guy asked if i called this restaurant. I'm like duh. Then he asked me what number i called?. This place is going downhill

A group of coworkers and I ate here after work one day. We were seated in the dining room and our waitperson took our orders. I was planning to get a Chili Bento, which comes with one piece of fried chicken, one piece of SPAM, chili, rice, and mac salad. My order went something like this: Me: "I'll have a Chili Bento." Waitperson: "Sorry, we don't serve that in the dining room; you can only get that outside." Me: "Can I order a side of SPAM?" Waitperson: "Yes." Me: "Okay, I'll have a Chili and Chicken plate and a side of SPAM." Waitperson: Are you SURE you don't want a Zip Pac?" Me: [thinking...her suggestion seems so random] "Yeah, I'm sure." After a while, our server brought our food including my Chili and Chicken plate (chili, two fried chicken thighs, two scoops of rice, and mac salad) and three, count them three, pieces of fried SPAM on the side. I was glad I found a workaround for their arbitrary no-chili-bento-in-the-dining-room policy until we received the bill... Coworker: "Your side order of SPAM is $5!" Me: "What? Let me see that." Me: "I'm going to ask for their biggest takeout container for my leftover piece of SPAM just to spite them." Coworker: "That's so wrong." Me: "$5 for 3 pieces of SPAM is wrong." Coworker: "I can't believe you would take home one piece of SPAM in a big container. That's not being very green." Me: "Being green is no fun at all...okay fine, I'll wrap it in a napkin." Coworker: "I'm proud of you." After driving home, I got out of the car, walked to the lobby of our building, caught the elevator to our floor, and went into our apartment. My wife was sitting at the dining table... Wife: "How was dinner?" Me: "You're not going to believe this. Zippy's charged me $5 for ..." At that point, I realized I left the SPAM in the car, so I caught the elevator to the lobby, walked to the car, etc. All the way to the car and back, I kept thinking that if I had the big container, I wouldn't have forgotten the SPAM in the car. Being green is so much extra work. When I walked back into our apartment, my wife was about to eat a slice of bread. "What's that?" she asked pointing to what was in my hand. "It's a SPAM," I replied. "Put it here," she said holding out the bread. I placed the SPAM in the bread, and she ate it as a sandwich. Perfect timing. Lessons Learned/Useful Tips: 1) Never, ever order a side of SPAM at Zippy's, 2) Pay attention to your waitperson's subtle hints, 3) Being green is no fun and causes extra work (same can be said for being forgetful), 4) You can order a Zip Pac with any of its items replaced with another item at no extra cost. For example, you can replace the fish with a chicken and get a "Surf Pac" with furikake (usually $0.75 extra) for the price of a Zip Pac, 5) The fish in Zip Pacs is Hoki (aka Blue Grenadier or Whiptail). It is also one of the fishes that McDonalds uses in their Filet-o-Fish, 6) You can't get a Zip Min outside, but you can order one to go in the dining room.

Wow, I see I'm not the only who thinks this is the worst Zippy's ever! I mean, Zippy's in general sucks, but this location is just so, so bad. The food was just disgusting, the place was dirty, the wait was incredibly long, and to top it off, it took forever just to order because the cashier was on the phone for a very long time. Right there at the order window with a line forming! Granted it sounded like a business call rather than personal, but she should've passed the phone to another worker instead of making everyone wait in line forever. Avoid at all costs. Oh! And don't be tempted to order the new garlic fries like I did. Most disgusting garlic fries I've ever had.

Just left there after finding a hair under my food and also stuck to the plate. Meaning to say that the hair was on the plate first before the food. Wth?! They tried to give me a new plate but c'mon.....who would roll the dice a second time on that? Not me. They comp'd my food but damage is already done. Stay away from that crappy place!! Not to mention the service was slow.

This place kinda sucked. The food was soso. Let me explain. I asked for my order then she asked me to repeat it. Then asked for my guys order he ordered his meal plus a side of cheese fries. Then she repeated our order back to us wrong. We finally got our food. We didn't get the fries that come with the order we just got a side of Chili fries not cheese fries the egg was over cooked it was not worth what we paid. At all. We got a cheesecake dessert which is the only reason it got 2 stars. Instead of one. It was amazing! We ate outside instead of getting waiter service. We'll probably try again at a different location.

Out of all the zippys... this one is the worst! The take out area has rude workers who just interrupt everything. & the food.... taste weird. i got a won tun mein. really how junk to you have to be to mess up on a saimin. it had no flavor in the soup and it had a weird chemical after taste. the dine in area is good though. just dont go to the take out! i LOVE zippys (i literally eat at a zippys once or twice a week), but the dillingham one is the worst! =/

Oh man Zippys!!! Long time nevah go here!!! Man i miss it!!!! OK lets start with the place. Its not bad pretty good but you know its a local place not a fine dining restaurant. So if you haolis looking for a fine dining place go Waikiki. Ok da food!!! My long time favorites are the Korean style fried chicken with the sauce on the side, Fried chicken, Bento, Loco Moco, Zip Pac. Pretty much everything here is really good but those are my favorite. I used to like the katsu but i got sick of it. Somtimes the chicken wasn't that great and was filled with more batter then chicken. Still good though when you hungry. Overall Zippys is one of best places to eat on a budget but there are still better places around. Oh and the bad thing is they still have MSG in DA food. But this is what make good food taste good!!!! :P

imma usual zippys regular at another location. but this was down right bad. first off while we first go in a party of 4 girls were waiting. then we were next. no one was there to greet us. then a mad rush of people came to pay for their bills. no one was there .. so a cook from the kitchen came to cash out all the customers..... then another manager came to assist.. them after 20 min or so someone finally came to sit the people be4 us then is was our turn.. i ordered chili moco. my friend ordered loco moco. food came out really fast.. as i was mixing my food i noticed some mac salad in it. which is not suppose to be in it.. but i just ate it anyways .. our service from our waitress was not so great . diddnt check on us too much... after we finished eating we just left.. i guess not ever zippys is the same.. ill try to stay away from this one in the future
