I just had surgery and wanted some boba tea. Saw the sign on their window and decided to come here for it since it was close. Bad idea. I'm posting this just as a warning to not get their boba tea. Food is okay n all but not boba. A lot of the Boba's were undercooked and hard in the centers. And others were over cooked and too big for the straw. Do not suggest going there for boba at all until they fix their deficiencies.

This was the first meal I had when I arrived in Hawaii. The guy I was with ordered for me and everything was tremendous. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Rich flavors in everything and the portion was way too big for a normal person (but that's a good thing ) Definitely recommended!

This place was fantastic. The macaroni salad is soooo good and waaaay better than L & L's. The kalbi and slices of beef were really good. Too bad the kimchi is mediocre here. The gyoza was great but the zucchini egg thing was weird.

Won't take phone orders unless you WORK at NEX. smh.

I miss Yummy Korean BBQ SO much! I came here while vacationing in Hawaii. I wish we had a Yummy Korean BBQ here in the bx at Nellis! Haha. Their food is so on point. I got the bbq plate that came with bbq chicken and bbq beef. And when you order a combo plate, you have the choice of choosing your ban chan - and there are lots of choices! Yay! It's fab! Go try it!

  • Nadine J.

Yummy's has good Kalbi. I always get no rice so I can 5 side choices. I recommend the shoyu potatos, shoyu noodles, and bean sprouts. I don't care for kim chee but if you like it, they have it here. Some workers here are ok but others need to smile. At least they said thank you when they gave me my order.

Yes. yes. And yes. A million times yes. I love basically every single side dish they serve and sometimes just order the plate with that only. The BBQ chicken is awweesome. The short ribs comes next, and then the meat jun. MUST try the sweet potato, long rice, and dai kon. All to die for. Cannot rave more about this place. Been eating Yummy's since I was a chubby little girl. (No wonder) and since I've moved to the mainland I look forward to my yearly visit. Hahaha, no shame. Love yummys. So does all of my family too. (My bro wanted me to bring him back a plate lunch on the plane this summer) lolol. I didn't.

Average Korean food. A mini is ample. I usually get my Korean food without rice so I can get an extra side. The sides are average. Nothing too good nothing bad. I'd eat here again if I had to out of convenience.

My wife and I shared the yummy platter, which comes with all kinds of meat and four sides. It was great Korean fast food, but pretty pricey.

Food is great! Though, there were two ladies in there with nike shaped eye brows that were giving not only the customers an attitude but one of their coworker's, probably a new hire, a very rude look. But the food is great! As always! Thank you!

This is the based off of the NEX location. Hard for me to tell you how great the food is here, considering im not a frequent visitor of Yummy's. When ever i do, i always get the fish jun and smother it in both of the sauces. Yummy is a food chain so there are alot of other chain restaurants surrounding this place, but there is still ample seating at this location. The quality of sides at this location looked fresh, and the fish jun came out well cooked and not raw or overcooked. My sides were good as well. This location offers brown rice and mini plates. Which is a plus for those of you diabetics.

My mini plate was delicious! I had the Spicy BBQ chicken w/ a side of sweet potatoes, zucchini, and some rice of course!! Loved my chicken!!! It was very tasty! Only downfall is it's a tad bit pricey but normal price for living in HI.

Decided to have a quick bite at the food court before shopping. Among all the other choices, Yummy's looked to be the most inviting. We ordered the beef Kal Bi which came with 4 sides (yeah!!) and 2 scoops of rice. Was going to order something else but the portion was HUGE! Shared the meal with the hubby and we were both satisfied. Only complaint was the chap chae noodles came out to be a tad too salty. But not bad though, for a fast food chain.

This is the closest Yummy's to where I live so when I'm hungry and too lazy to cook dinner and craving for some Korean BBQ this is the spot. To me the food tastes the same as any other Yummy's. I always get the meat jun, fish jun or bbq chicken and they always taste the same. I dislike the fact that they don't have the garlic chicken like the Yummy's in Pearlridge (which is really fricken good btw). The service is okay but the wait can sometimes take a little while. I also wish they offered the egg as a side more often.

When we moved to Hawaii we had to stay in hotel over a month by the airport. We couldn't cook everyday and there was shuttle bus from the hotel to the NEX everyday. Every time we went there we got food from Yummy. Meat is good and love their side dishes! Now we live near the Schofield Barracks but army base doesn't have Yummy. I'm so sad:-( its so far and I'm craving to it.

Bubble Drink $3.50 before tax! Honeydew, strawberry, mango, coffee, taro, coffee and milk tea flavors! My favorite is the Beef or BBQ Chicken with your choice of veggies. I've always ordered the same thing and have not been disappointed!

  • Mac J.

There banchan portions are significantly less than the Dillingham Yummy's. The wait time is not too long. Unlike the Dillingham Yummy's, there's no free refill for drinks. It gets very busy during lunch do order to go because seating is limited.

I will give this place 4"*s because the food was delish. For $9 we got a full plate. My cousin and I barely finished it. Wait, we didnt finish it. All the sides were bomb, and the cucumbers were so good... omg I am feening some so if neone knows where to get some mit jun here in SD can you please let me know!?!?!? I like this place tho... maybe its bc I do not have anything to compare it to. I'll save that for my next trip!!!

  • Brianne T.

Love the food, my body can't take the fat and oils in some of their entrees/sides. Very good variety and portion sizes for the price. Employees are fast with orders, so don't be discouraged if you're caught in the lunch and dinner hour line. You'll get your food within 10min. If you can't wait that long, you deserve Taco Bell.

    (3)
  • Kelly G.

Portions were decent, but not big enough for me to split into two meals. The bi bim bap I ordered had many of the familiar ingredients with the sauce on the side. Food quality was good but prices kind of high for a chain. The other plates come with 4 side dishes that I would like to try next time. Yes, there will be a next time. Maybe at another location?

Not much to say about a Korean BBQ joint, you cant throw a rock in Hawaii without hitting one. Yummy's though, I have found, does an awesome job packing in as much food into styrofoam as Lady GaGa packs on her body. you've seen one Korean BBQ, youve seen 'om all. Spicy BBQ plate with four mounds of sides and rice = $10. thats about as cheap as it gets for lunch in Hawaii. the best thing is its not a freakin sandwich from Subway and you can stretch Yummys out to two meals without feeling hungry. They should advertise as the 10 dollar, 10 dollar, 10 dollar cubic foot. take that Subway and your $5 subs...errr, $6. this is probably the shortest review I have ever written.

Parking-Bad. Food- Amazing! Bit of a wait, and no seating. BBQ Chicken with mac salad, and watercress salad- so good!

  • Tyler J.

Good Korean BBQ, easy to eat at NEX mall food court. Better chicken than BBQ outside by Commissary, they tend to overcook chicken but Yummy is pretty good. Good portions, sides are fresh.

I believe that if i'm going to pay $8 for a mini meat jun then I should get my money's worth. I waited for a majority of my break to get a plate of rubbery, un-cut meat jun on a bed of mushy rice. Thanks for the salty namul too. I couldn't believe the number of people who got their orders before mine and the clerk serving them up did nothing to check on my order after i asked since i was waiting 10 minutes already. 5 minutes later I get my plate of crap. Never going here AGAIN. Not yummy at all.

I didn't realize there were so many Korean to go places till i went to Hawaii. We stopped here to grab some quick lunch before we got on our flight. The small shopping center is minutes away from Honolulu airport, which made it perfect to grab and go. The food was tasty with all your typical Korean meats. I ordered the BBQ chicken and 2 sides. The portions were good to even fill a hungry guy like me and I ordered their mini lunch plate. I wonder how much food I would have gotten if I ordered regular plate. If your in sorta rush to the airport and wanna grab a cheap lunch check this place out.

Love this place, when away from home, this brings me back. Good eats affordable prices, fast, clean. No, it's not a restaurant, it's fast food... This one, close to the NEX is better than the Yummy in the NEX - friendlier service and they have the hot sauce out for you to use! What's Korean food w/o hot sauce?

    (4)
  • Reuben R.

Its... okay.... It lost some stars because I think the cooks have changed or they're just not doing things right anymore. The Curry Chicken Katsu used to be crisp and delicious... but now its... its... sad, and oily... oh the agony of good food lost to a chef who is but a phantom now. Come back whoever you were! I don't like curry that tastes like the maruchan chicken flavor packets!!! curry hurry: time and change can be unkind. I still give 2 stars because I like the sweet potatos

  • Allan K.

I always enjoy Yummy's on my visits home to Hawaii. Its the fast food Korean style/Hawaiian style. I always get the Veggie meal, basically its 2 scopps of rice and you select 4 veggies items. It always tends to be way to much food, but so delicious.

    (4)
  • Erica C.

When you walk into this place, it gives a very "fast food" vibe. But the food tastes home made and just all around YUMMY! :) My boyfriend and I got the Kalbi, it was tender with little to no fat on it! The glass noodles were something new for me, i liked how they were kinda cold and sweet! for my second side, i got the cucumber Kimchee(sp?) It was spicy haha I wish i had some lemon to go with it.

Its good but the one at the nex is way better which is crazy considering they are only 1/4 mile apart.

  • Caitlin T.

Yummy is not so yummy. Yes you get a ton of food for your money, but it is not good food. My husband got the Kal bi plate from here with 2 sides of kim chee, some noodles and marinaded seaweed (not sure what the real names are). The kim chee tasted old and just not good. The noodles that I had were ok since the kal bi was sitting on top of it so it picked up the flavor. The seaweed was just slimy and gross. The kalbi isn't marinaded long enough to have good flavor. I got the the Man Doo Kook Soo since it is essentially the same as won ton min. It was ok, nothing to write home to mom about. We prefer to go to Soon's for a little less good food for less money.

A nightmare of a dinner. Ever wondered what shoe leather tastes like? I would probably liken it to the meat jun and Kalbi at Yummy. I've had some bad Korean food but this one topped all of them. The Meat Jun was the shoe leather and the Kalbi was the sole of the shoe. It was horrible. I've gone here before and it was decent but I went yesterday and it got worse. The Meat Jun was covered in an egg batter that was all egg, like an omelet. I know not everyone can make it like Young's or O-bak but this was just bad. Then there was the meat. I actually had to take a break because my jaw was getting tired of chewing. It was also flavorless. Kalbi was equally horrible. After eating the bad meat jun I thought maybe the Kalbi would be the saving grace. Nope. Still, a nightmare of a meal. Chewy, tough, and tasteless. Again I had to take a break from eating because I was just plain tired. The sides were ok but not great. I liked the corn but it was CORN...probably from a can. Chop Chae was ok, run of the mill. The Potato salad was good but a rip off from Yoony-son in Kaneohe. Yoony-son makes it way better. There was one thing that was ok was the fried shrimp. It might have been frozen from a box but I liked it. golden and crispy. A bright spot in a food nightmare. The horror didn't end. I was in pain from a stomach ache all night and couldn't sleep. Mere coincidence. Possible but I really think it was the food. I usually try to give every place a chance and try to see one good thing in a place (maybe the shrimp). This place was really bad. I need to stick to Soon's down the street.

Food is good. Seaweed soup, BBQ chicken, kalb and their sides are really good and flavorful. Big sizes are a must when i'm doing korean food...when i feel like i want to slip into a food coma then i'm definitely satisfied. The only thing is that this location has really slow service. There was no line but took 3 mins to take order and then i waited for about 10 minutes. By then I was about ready to chew on the booths!

Great selection on delicious sides, better than L & L. Minis are big portions.

Not the best Bulgogi I have had. But it fixed my craving I was having being on vacation. Kimchee was okay.

Discrimination?! There's some sort of discrimination going on here. I didn't think anything the first time but the second time I went that's when I knew that there was definitely something weird. I noticed that because I'm a girl I get less of the side dishes than the usual (male) customer. While waiting for my order I've observed the difference in the quantity I received than the usual (male) customers. I don't understand. There's no difference in the price. I'm never going back to this particular place. I believe it's just this location.

Decent place to go for a quick bite to eat. I've tasted better Korean food at other restaurants or homemade stuff. It gets super loud and busy at the NEX food court location. A full plate is too much for me. A mini place still can be too much, depending if I had breakfast. Prices have increased over the years, a little too steep I think. I try to get there before the lunchtime crowd, if I'm already shopping at the complex. Otherwise, I avoid it and go somewhere else. Waiting and having to deal with people before you who cannot make up their flippin' mind what they want annoys me to pieces.

My bro was returning to P-Town yesterday & only had an hour to spare before he had to be at HNL. We settled on Yummy Korean BBQ, as I'd never been and he missed eating decent Korean BBQ. I ordered a regular plate that came with a choice of 4 veggies, 2 scoops of rice & a protein selection. I went with the BBQ chicken, which was charbroiled with a delicious sauce, cabbage, some kind of green grassy veggie, kim chee & broccoli. They scooped all my veggies & rice in a styrofoam container and slid it under a medium sized hatch to the cook. It was busy during the lunch hour but the counter staff and cook were speedy. I waited for about 4 mins before my container marked #3 swiftly glided back across the threshold. As we sat in a booth, I felt like I was a foot away from the table and wondered why there was so much space. Then I realized, the portions are big and they want you to eat. And eat a lot. So, if your table is too small, you couldn't possibly eat your weight in meat, veggies & rice...OR they got these tables at a discount outlet b/c the assembly worker cut the tables too small to begin with--your guess is as good as mine. My veggies were cool to the touch and the rice & chicken were hot but chewable. I don't know what seasoning/sauce they put on my veggies but really enjoyed that they were prepared slightly 'al dente'. The vegetable prep complimented my BBQ chicken perfectly and my tummy was happy. While it sounds like a lot for $8.79, my strategy was to avoid cooking dinner later. I think I got 4 pieces of chicken and was able to stretch this styrofoam box lunch into 2.5 meals. Would definitely recommend!!!

  • Matthew P.

The BBQ chicken and rice was really good. The vegetable sides didn't make much sense to me. For some reason I thought they were going to cook them when they sent my box to the back, but I ended up getting a ton of raw salty vegetables that just went in the trash.

First place I ate after arriving in Hawaii. Great price with generous portion sizes. I ordered the BBQ Beef combo and had the broccoli, bean sprouts, kim chi, and cucumbers as sides. The beef itself was delicious. Meat was tender, flavor was full, albeit some pieces were a little dry. The sides were very, very bland. Must have been the most bland tasting kim chi I have EVER had. Final verdict: Big portions, decently priced, sides were greatly lacking in flavor, beef was good. I'll go with 2.5/5.

BIG friggin' update: Their food SUCKS now! What the hell happened?! Was it because i opened my big mouth? Cuz i YELPed for joy about it? Well, damn, that's the LAST time I have anything nice to say! If this means you're gonna make my kal-bi taste like rotten dog meat (i'm assuming that rotten dog meat tastes bad?) then FORGET YOU! I'm gonna leave the 2 stars up cuz 1) that potato salad is still good and 2) i MAY give you one more chance... even though this is the 3rd time my food tasted NASTAY.

  • E N.

I was hoping this place had decent food because it seems clean & sanitary... unlike some mom & pop's around in this area. But unfortunately the food sucked. I ordered the Bi Bim Bap... and was treated to a virtually raw fried egg (the white part), low quality, overly seasoned beef & pedestrian panchan.

I do love me some Yummy's and have for many years. Yummy's has your good ol fashion Korean BBQ with some local favs like their Chicken Curry Katsu. You start by ordering your dish/plate. From BBQ Chicken to Meat jun the food here is constantly good. You can pick from a big selections of veggies and starches to compliment your protein. They have Kim-chee to sweet soy-sauce potatoes (a kid fav). The portion of meat is the same each time and generous as I can never finish my meal. The portions of veggies and startches are a hit and miss. It really depends on the person dishing it out and the time of day. If there is a lunch rush they wanna make the stuff last so you get extras. If it is slow and they are required to replace the dishes to avoid spoilage they will dish-out big helpings. My friend went close to closing and they always load him up with huge portions or else they gotta toss-em. There are a ton of Yummy's Korean BBQ's located on the island of Oahu. Honestly the only reason why I go to this Yummy's Korean BBQ over others, is this Yummy's is located in a military strip mall and thus is held to a higher military standards as far as routine health inspections go.

Service was good, food was ok but way overpriced for the quality and portion size. The bubble tea was a joke. I will not go back.

A decent Korean place but it's on the higher end price wise for a plate lunch.

What happened to the good chicken Katsu curry they used to have before the renovation? It was definitely watered down. Tofu tasteless. So sad!

  • Tiani D.

I dont think I can write a review thats anymore positive. The food was great for $10 They literally PACKED my plate with as much food as possible. The service was great, and the wait time was about 10 minutes. The coffee bubble drink that I also got was absolutely delish! Unlike other places i've been, they either make it too sweet or too bitter. Definately coming back to this Yummys soon.

Yummy Korean BBQ at the NEX was a real life saver on my recent trip to Hawaii. The day before my visit to Yummy, all I ate was a bowl of ramen, chicken wings and way too many Mai Tais. Needless to say, my energy level was low. After walking around the huge NEX, we stumbled upon the food court where I spotted the Yummy Korean BBQ. Perfect, I got the Yummy plate and boy do they pile the food on. I got to pick my four banchans, cabbage, potato, cucumber and tofu to go along with the Kalbi, bulgogi and chicken. They also load you up with two big scoops of rice. The banchans were first rate, especially for a fast food place. The meat was really good and I even had some leftovers. Yummy KBBQ should expand to the mainland, they would do really well in Southern California.

  • Vitaly K.

i am writing this review for what this place really is - a mall food court joint. in that capacity it is fantastic. the portions are gigantic (you need two people for a "dish?"). the sides are the bomb. they are fresh and flavorful with a great verity for either the health conscious or if you just want to let your inner fat kid play- i have done both versions. the hot sauce is a nice touch too.

  • Kerrie C.

this seems to be our work lunchtime go-to place when no one can make a decision where to eat. I usually split a regular size combo plate with a friend because it is way too much food for one person. I adore their cold tofu and that is the reason i keep coming back. the food has always been good, and the sides are fresh, not like some of the other Korean bb-q places i've been to. I think i'd be happy eating a plate that consisted totally of side-items because they are so "yummy"... *pun intended*

Located in the NEX Mall at Pearl Harbor, it is accessible to everyone (upstairs in the food court). Plates come with meat, rice, and 2 or 3 veggies. Meat dishes (bbq beef, chicken) are tasty Veggies very tasty. Large servings

Great fast food Korean, prices seem high until you see how much food you get. Dont miss out on the mondu! Gonna miss this place!!

The kalbi here was tough for my liking but the salads and kimchee were good. Try side street in kalbi. It cost more but you get more too.

Cleanest Yummy's we've been to--and we've been to more than 5 in a few months. Not sure if the regulation by the military facility has anything to do with it. However, anyone can eat there, regardless of military affiliation. Veggies seem fresher also, and portions are larger--unless you're going an hour to closing time, in which case we have had servers start to oddly ration the servings (guess they were worried about running out before closing and didn't want to make a whole new batch). Plates are reasonable for this chain, since their prices have skyrocketed in the last few years. You DO get a lot for the money. Big eaters we've taken here are usually satisfied (the Yummy's Special), and smaller eaters always go home with a plate more than half full. I personally make the Yummy's Special into about 3 meals--it's a lot of food!! Clerks are typical for this chain--not really friendly, but not mean, either. Just busy. Downside: drinks don't have refills, and are pricey. Get drinks from another vendor in the food court who offer refills, but get your Korean fix on here. Lots of seating--including an open air lanai. Lots of free parking in the NEX parking area. Comfy for kids; there are high chairs scattered all over the food court, and plenty of noise enough that if your little one yells, no one is going to look at you twice. Plasma TVs on the wall in some locations, also. Handicapped accessible. Even has an elevator in addition to the escalator by the waterfall, if you have a stroller or just want to distract your little one. :) Cool mural in the rotunda; people often take pictures of it.

I eat here all the time and the food is always good. Pretty easy to get two meals out of one $10 plate. I normally get BBQ chicken or combo chicken and meat jun with no rice so I get one extra veggie side. They have a good assortment of sides so even if you're not in to kimchee and watercress you can opt for corn, broccoli, potatoes, Mac salad, etc. Maybe because I stick with my favorites but the poor reviews seem out of character for the dozens of times I've eaten here.

  • Andrea T.

Mmmm delicious meat jun. The Korean veggies are always fresh, and they have the best potato salad on the planet. I never eat anywhere else when I'm at Pearl.

Really good Korean fast food. I got the yummy plate special which comes with rice, korean bbq short ribs, beef, and chicken as well as four sides and a fried dumpling and fried zuchinni. I got the napa kim chi, bean sprouts, cabbage, and omelet for my sides and they were all as good as any other korean restaurant I've been to. The bbq was equally awesome. What's even better? The plate cost only $9. Definitely had leftovers. It hits the spot after some crazy shopping at the NEX!

  • Keane L.

I love Yummy's and I love the Pearl Harbor NEX! I remember when the Hickham AAFES was the place to be. Thanks to the Pearl Harbor NEX, Hickham is a ghost town. This is such a great place to be. I've searched all over and cannot find a BBQ beef this good (and don't get me started with the sides). This is the only plate lunch I love more than L&L's Chicken Katsu.

i haven't eaten here in a while and the other night i took my haole husband here. we both loved it!!! i make him try a lot of our local asian influenced foods here in hawaii. most of them he loves. i always get the vegetable plate and he tries to get anything with meat. the sides are my favorite. mac salad, potatoes, tofu, cabbage, long rice.. all ONO! i think we'll go back tonight! hey what ever happened to tague (tay-goo)? am i spelling that right? i can't find any korean places that serve that anymore. did you know that the koreans in the mainland (ca) don't call it that? it's called something else. when i tried asking them if they had that they were puzzled and i had to find it at a korean grocery store and it was named something very different. please tell me why?! anyways if you haven't tried this place yet please do so! btw.. i'm not talking about the one at the nex i like the one at moanalua shopping center near ruby tuesdays.. aloha!

We were hesitant to try Yummy Korean BBQ; after all, it was in a fast food court. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Yummy was actually pretty yummy. Try the bip bim kook soo spicy. Their idea of spicy isn't that spicy. Hours are posted here: greatlifehawaii.com/Acti…
