The mochi ice cream from here is very good! It was my first time having mochi and it was delicious. Service was great, but it was a little pricey for what we got. However, it was worth it!

Typical coffee shop with mochi ice cream, which is a plus. But no bathroom.

YES, they have some popular flavors (6) of mochi ice cream by Bubbies!!! We kept passing this location so we stopped a couple times on our recent vacation to the island. It's a small but convenient location, with coffee, tea, and pastries, and our main reason for stopping in, Bubbie's. We didn't get to go to the actual Bubbie's location so this was just as good, for us. The staff was nice, the store was clean, there were chairs outside, al fresco, so that was nice, enjoying our Bubbie's- it's a small but satisfying snack, and our little one likes it, too. Also, there were samples of the blueberry scones on the counter.

I've reviewed one of their places in Santa Monica and I tell ya I'm sold on The Coffee Bean. Starbucks could learn a few things from this business in my opinion. Great service, the best store hot chocolate around and they have always been very friendly at each store. The store is clean, the location is great. Even though it's always 70-80 degrees in Waikiki, if you're looking for a hot drink look no further than this place.

IF these fine folks made it up to Seattle, WA, Charbucks would be in some serious hot water! I luv'ed this java, pure, simple, yet bold, and didn't taste overly roasted! I heart this place.... Heck, we even brought some of this stuff back to Seattle with us!!! Yo! Howard Schultz aka Mr. Starbucks, you bedda watch out bra, these buggas from Southern Cal, going to take ova!!

I like coming to TCBTL because it's just across the street. I'm all about quick fixes that will satisfy that hunger pang come noon! I'm not all about those coffee shops because i can't stand to drink all 300+ calories in one drink! SB doesn't satisfy me as much, overkill on the drinks and overprice on the food (which it's all that). TCBTL has an array of sandwiches, salads, & pastries alongside their blended drinks. I like it cause it's not over priced and it's not an overkill on the calorie count... leaving myself feeling less guilty and more satisfied I ate healthy! Note: Lemon Bar is TOO decadent... cream frosting is really thick... good, but to rich my buds. Parfait is huge and really good! A must have! I'm all about service... and some people their just need a few snaps of the finger to get things going. One guy kept on drawing out a conversation with me... trying to make me smile... even went beyond the boundaries to pronounce my last name. Sorry dude, you aint going to have a convo with me or have me smile. (SEE the ring... it's on the left hand for a reason). Another guy can't multitask for dear life. I mean, take my order, grab it, take the card, swipe, while in processing, grab a to go bag and utensils, stick my order in and by the time your done packing everything, card has been processed and I'm out the door! No--- seriously FAILED! Today, Ava, she saved the best service for me today. Smiled, greeted me, took my order, offered a bag and also offered a stamp card! Yay!

Always come here before work for breakfast..the greek yogurt, bruschetta, bagels, and mochi ice cream are my favorites. Staff is so friendly and always smiling and greet me at the door. They know what tea I like to order and the stamp card is a plus also, although I think it expires soon. Love this place!

I come here a lot. Always the same service. Its always great. The workers are nice and are okay with me taking forever to make up my mind. I love coffee but I also get tea here. I love the dark chocolate ice drink and the special tea blends they have. Its small but they have seats inside and out side to sit. The food is fresh and tea is made fresh everyday. Come and check it out for yourself :)

(Visit on Saturday, 05/02/15) Our first time trying CBTL and we weren't disappointed. Service was great and the Caramel Frappucino and Mochi Ice Cream was good. I see reviews where they mention the Mochi Ice Cream was hard. It took my daughter time before she got to the Mochi Ice Cream so it probably soften a bit, but she like it very much.

I've been coming here for 5 years. The employees are awesome. They know the definition of customer service and quality. Whenever its busy they always get everyone one quickly. love coming here! I live in Pearl City but will come a the way here then the closer locations. Better customer service will get you far and keep loyal customers. Their beverage and food choices are so yummy.

I'm normally a fan of Coffee Bean stores, but the ones in Oahu have mochi ice cream 3/$5... SO good! The pumpkin, green tea, and white chocolate raspberry were amazing! This kind of mochi ice cream is different in that it's not sticky, which normally turns me off to mochi ice cream. Love!

How convenient -- this location was just two blocks away from our hotel. We stopped by nearly every day of our trip. Prices are a tad higher compared to the mainland, but on par with every retail/eatery in the area. Also a good option for tourists who are tired of eating out all the time and are seeking a quick bite!

  • Lina F.

Well hands down this is my place. But i guess they carry different drinks in different states so.. but i still love it..even more than Starbucks..

While in Waikiki, we were thirty and want some morning coffee. At first we decided to walk down to Starbucks but when we got there, their line was already out the door. At that, we figured, why not try here. It took a while before we ordered since the people before us was taking a while. When it got to us, I ordered their hazelnut blended coffee (~ $6). They have the same set up as a Starbucks. They sell some of the same products. No big chocolate chip cookies though. They also sale mochi ice cream! They got our drinks quick, and offered a stamp card. Might as well, right? My friend looked at it, and to obtain the free drink you must get 50 stamps = spend $50. Compared to Starbucks, Starbucks has the better deal. I did enjoy the coffee, just no whipped cream next time. Seating: Indoors - one table with two chairs and bar stools Outdoors - tables and chairs I'll probably start coming in and looking at their different drink and food options.

Very chill atmosphere. The problem I had was with the Bubbies mochi ice cream, which I recommend to never get it here (Just stick to the Bubbies location on University). They were rock hard and the barista told me to "hold it in my hand to warm it up for 2-3 minutes."

Yummy Mochi ice cream...chocolate/peanutbutter!! And Dark chocolate iced latte. ...God I love chocolate! !!!!!!!!

  • Sarah J.

WAYY better than starbucks!! Even though it is a few more cents for their ice blended v.s. the fraps, the flavor is unbeatable. This is what coffee should taste like. Their staff is so friendly and useful and their pastries are sizable, inexpensive and delicious. Don't forget the mochi ice cream!!

I'm already a fan of CB&TL loving their ice blended drinks more than Starbucks' Frappuccinos. But they gave me one more reason to love them today as I walked past the store window at the Beach Walk - Bubbies Mochi Ice Cream!!!!! They carry a handful of flavors and we got the Mango, Chocolate Espresso and Green Tea. Yipee! Thanks CB&TL for making Bubbies within reach for those of us in Waikiki without a car!

MOCHI MOCHI MOCHI! They're huge and delicious! Strawberry and coconut are the best!

As a former employee, I guess I have certain expectations from my neighboring coffee shop. Ideally located right down the street from my work, I like to stop in for a cheap thing to eat ('cause let's be frank-- cheap is hard to find in Waikiki). I'm always disappointed at the selection of foods in their case. They don't have the staples I'm used to from other CBTLs, and it also doesn't help that the case is always a wreck. Their employees look a bit sluggish, lounging around at night since it's slow. It's frustrating because often my drink takes too long, especially disappointing when I'm the only one in the room. While the food itself is comparable to other CBTLs I've been to, the drinks have a serious inconsistency. Often my iced teas are watered down or lacking ice all-together. My usual quad iced espresso + dark chocolate (half powder) always comes out way too sweet. The varying results in beverages has kept me from ordering them for several months now. I know that their competition on both ends of the street really limits their share of the coffee market, but I'm continually disappointed in the service and product at this particular store. Despite this, you couldn't keep me away thanks to the penne pesto and red velvet cupcake bargain.

This store in Waikiki is centrally located in the beachwalk of Waikiki Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and Sheraton. The coffee of the day was okay and pretty standard. If you prefer Starbucks, it's right across the street.

Not much of a coffee drinker or tea, however they sell hardboiled eggs (2) for $1.49. Great protein kick and right by beach on the Waikiki Beach Walk.

I adore this Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on Lewers Street in Waikiki! Like many other Coffee Beans, this Lewers St location has a great selection of drinks and wide selection of sandwiches and pastries, which is far better than StarBucks or other coffee places. I also love that they have Bubbies mochi ice cream on hand... so yummy! They always provide great service with a smile and they're very gracious and prompt when serving their customers. They also keep their storefront clean and looks just as spic and span in the afternoon as it does in the morning. Definitely a BETTER option than Starbucks!

I go here all the time. Can't believe I haven't Yelped. Only thought of it as I was nibbling on my leftover snack from there. I usually am all about the tea here because its a great selection. The staff is always friendly and Im such a regular they know what Im having most days. Oh and they make a bomb chai tea. ( Just that with soy sub it comes to $6, oh my)

AWESOME! CB&TL next to my hotel! What more can a coffee girl ask for? I know - Kona! If only my fave coffee spot served some Kona, I'd been in coffee bean heaven. Kona & CB&TL in the Hawaiian islands... what a wonderful way it would be to spend a vacation. All of my favorites rolled up into one. Someday CB&TL, someday.... please?

Just another not too bad place to get coffee after walking around waikiki or bronzing on da beach. The thing that makes this place da place to go is they got BUBBIES!!! For all you all who haven't been exposed to the awesomeness that is mochi ice cream, do yourself a favor and try it here and then maybe take a trip to the actual Bubbies.

Being the exceptionally nice dude I am - or my caffeine addiction :| - I decided to return. I come back on the regular now. Service is back to the usual corporate chain brisk competence. Maybe my bad experience last time was just a fluke. I dig this place and the baristas. Cheers!

You may be asking yourself: But Dave, why coffee bean? You don't drink coffee! But you are super cool... so it must be the coolest place to drink coffee! and to that I'd say, let's take it down a notch. I put on my pants just like you do: by making my roommate hold them and doing a triple back handspring landing feet first into them. What? Oh we don't put our pants on the same way? Then yes, go on about how cool I am then. I decided to review this coffee bean because besides it being my favorite coffee joint on the island, it's not starbucks and the people working here are really great. Example: I will, on occasion, drink an ice blended coffee, or more often than that, a chai latte. So reasons it's great: 1) you can get stuff blended in your iced coffee, such as oreo, peanut butter, butterfinger, etc. It's like a blizzard minus the ice cream and the guilt, you know, 'cause it's skim! Try the Dark Chocolate Blended with peanut butter. It's D... wait for it.... lightful. Next, the people here rock. Today I wanted to try the red velvet blended drink (try the hot chocolate). When the girl asked me if I wanted coffee in it, I asked if it was good or not, she said, and I quote: people say the one with coffee tastes like crap. That's what I'm talking about! THAT is customer service my friends. So if you're in Manoa, on Lewers or in the Mall, pass starbucks, pass seattle's best, and hit up the coffee bean!

Ignore the two Starbucks within 100 yards of Coffee Bean and get your beverage here. The espresso and lattes have a lot more flavor than Starbucks' watery and burnt varieties--I own stock in Starbucks too, so I'm not just a hater. The staff here is also outgoing. I've been staying across the street for a week and they already know my order.

Good location if you're around the Waiki area. It's in the middle of all the hotels and shopping. I didn't find the blended coffee special - it was refreshing and did the job.

Friendly staff and the ice-blended drinks are great, but the lattes here have a bitter aftertaste. Kind of annoying.

Ok so this place hands down has the best coffee I've EVER had! Soooo Yummy and a must try for sure! I'm partial to the iced hazelnut coffee made with almond milk and whip cream! Omg you won't be disappointed in whatever you get! Starbucks is trash compared to this place! Customer service is always on par.

Excellent service today! The young lady was so pleasant & friendly. I always enjoy the food & the Bubbles mocha ice cream. Ordered a lychee iced tea & a lemon crunch cake.

I am a pretty loyal CBTL fan and a few stores down from this location is a Starbucks. It makes me a bit sad that not many people shop at this store. The Starbucks next to it is pretty busy all the time while this store can be empty sometimes. I ordered an affogato ice cream and it was my first time having any sort of affogato shot. And i've never had espresso shots with ice cream before. It was strong at first, but I quickly got used it and it became delicious. I spooned the espresso over the ice cream to create a thin frozen shell, then I took a bite. As the serving was lessening, I mixed the rest of the vanilla ice cream with the cooled down espresso and it tasted like coffee ice cream or a shake. Good tasting from beginning to end.

Worst coffee. Worst service. Worst experience I've had a coffee shop in a long time. Got our order wrong. Made our drinks wrong. It was all bad, smh.

Id hate to give a bad review but honestly within the past two years service and the quality of their drinks went down. Majority of the people there are rude and grumpy !! I have a handful of bad incidents (being that I work for a nearby hotel) from myself and fellow coworkers. Here is a list of them: - I went in on a whim and asked the barista for a caramel macciato and instead I got chocolate. -I went in on a separate occasion , and asked to have my green tea sweetened with classic syrup....but the barista insisted that they "do not sweeten our drinks" , ?!! -I don't know if these people were properly trained , because my drinks are either way to strong or way to sweet. - My most recent encounter ..I got a green tea of the day and when I received my drink I had no ice inside !! I am speechless !! When I asked for ice the barista replied telling me that she did(she had attitude)!! Ugh I can't believe this horrid customer service !! I won't be returning ever , and I won't reccommend them to my clients either ..ill be walking the extra distance to Starbucks

Yes, it is coffee bean. But it is a really great one. They have Bubbie's mochi (get one!!). Also, they have a ton of delicious splurges (chocolate peanut butter brownies, anyone?).

  • Tiffany C.

Great place to just grab a quick bite in walking distance from the hotels. They have a nice assortment of pastries and drinks. My husband had a coffee cake and a red velvet latte. Which he quite enjoyed. I did apple juice and a bagel. The staff was nice but disregarded my request for light cream cheese and strawberry jam even though I had asked if they had any. Instead I had it with regular cream cheese and guava jelly which is not my fav. So I gave it a four star experience.

im a huge fan of chain store coffee shops. starbucks, coffee bean, peets, tullys...whatever...their all the same to me... but then, i stumbled into THIS "particular" coffee bean... all i wanted was a cold iced coffee to help ease the pain of my hangover... hungry and hurting, i ordered my iced coffee...then i saw the sign...BUBBIES MOCHI ICE CREAM. sunlight beamed down on me thru the clouds and i immediately stared wide eyed at the janky sign taped to the cash register... this was exactly what i needed... my favorite 2 things...mochi ice cream & iced coffee. im sure that many other places also sold bubbies mochi ice cream all over the island...but in that one moment in time...this particular coffee bean became the entire reason why i came to hawaii... "paradise" LOLOLOLOL

  • Stacy M.

It's as good as any other coffee bean out there (and they're all pretty yummy), with a better location. Great shopping in the immediate vicinity is a plus. Walked here from my hotel when I got up freakishly early one morning in Waikiki and enjoyed having my coffee at the tables outside in the amazing weather.
