Love these people and this place! It's right by my work place so I can swing by and pick up my coffee fix on the way. They sometimes know my order which makes it super easy for me. They can be busy but are always working hard to get everyone their coffee. 5 stars for sure!

my number one go to spot for my boost of energy in the morning or anytime of the day! I love CBTL..it is my favorite place to go to for my iced americano! Strong, bold flavors just the way I like my coffee!

I experienced THE WORST service here today. I saw the sign for the new Thai iced tea blended drink and asked the barista NAHELE if it had any coffee in it. She then very rudely and condescendingly responded with "uhhh, well its TEA so NO it doesn't have any coffee in it (as if I was the dumbest person in the world and was completely wasting her time by even asking). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a barista's job was to answer any questions you may have about their menu items. After she told me the total, I decided to change my drink to a larger size. They hadn't even made the drink yet, but Nahele still felt the need to give me a dirty look and roll her eyes. The whole experience made my drink unenjoyable. Nahele probably shouldn't work in the service industry if she hates dealing with people as much as it seems.

Great location, good coffee, great food selection, and friendly staff. I come in 1-2 times a week, about half the staff knows my name and my order. I generally like to get my coffee from local places but the convenience and friendly faces of this place always brings me back. It was Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf who taught me not to drink iced coffee, but iced Americanos so you fresh espresso. Super idea.

I love my Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Food Pantry. Of course I wish it were bigger like the Harding location, which by the way, is fabulous! April, Tate and Heather make the best drinks ever. I will not step foot into a Starbucks, stopped giving them my business over six years ago once I discovered CBTL.

The workers here are AWESOME, the brownies here are AWESOME, the vibe here is AWESOME the only reason I can't give this Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 5 stars is because the parking here sucks. I understand that it is no fault of their own, so I have to go with four stars All in all.

Probably the worst of the CBTL locations. Very small so good luck finding a table inside. There's tables outside if you don't mind sitting out in the heat and breathing the exhaust of the traffic passing by on a major boulevard. Not to mention the constant roar of the freeway overpass. As for the service, the quality is not consistent. There are very good servers and then there is a manager who gives TERRIBLE service. This place needs some work on the management level.

The coffee and tea is ok. Service is pretty good and friendly. There aren't enough seats inside though and they keep the air conditioning cranked so you get cold if you stay a while. Maybe that's the point?

I was never a fan of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, until now. I am used to Starbucks and McDonald and Jack N a Box coffee. Now having to try the Coffee Bean & Tea leaf's coffee and tea, I can say its amazing. I love this location because its on the way to my work. They have a good selection of coffee and teas. I love ordering the caramel affaogato. This is a caramel blended coffee that is toped off with a shot of espressos. They also a have selection of sandwiches...however you'll have to go early to get the best choice because they might run out. They offer stamp cards if you are one of those returning Customers. I wish they would have a card like Starbucks. But I guess the stamp card will do. When you fill your stamp card your next order will be free.

I usually love Coffee bean & Tea leaf and I'll choose it over Starbucks all the time. I come here for the delicious Plantation Iced tea, pretty simple you know? Anyway last night wasn't busy at all, no one was there! Which was cool to me cause I was in and out. However, I ordered my XL plantation iced tea light ice, and my friend also ordered the same thing. We get our iced teas and it taste like ICED TEA..... We did order plantation which obviously has pineapple juice in it, but tasted HORRIBLE. I was in a really good mood too so I decided hey whatever you know. I then gave it to my sister because I was just over it lol. I know it's my fault for not going back to say something about the taste, but next time I will if they continue to make it that way. I've ordered from here before the same exact drink and it's never tasted that way. So I'll let it slide once lol. Anyway I'll be back. Perfect to pair with a poke bowl on a hot day.

I've been lured into trying the different featured drinks, dulce leche this or pumpkin spice that, but I always regret it. Nothing else compares to my hands down favorite Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf drink, a hot Dark Chocolate Latte. If you want to, you could add an extra shot for more caffeine or ask for less dark chocolate powder to reduce the sugar. It is a sweet drink, but the dark cocoa flavor balances the sweetness. So yummy. I would also get a tea. They carry a variety of loose leaf teas and brew them fresh. If you prefer a cold, blended drink, their Ice Blendeds are icy-er than other places, more like a frosty than a shake. They also have baked goods and grab and go for quick snacks.

This CBTL is my favorite location. Friendly, quick baristas are awesome! They have steel cut oatmeal with our choice of toppings including: walnuts, bananas, honey, brown sugar & raisins & I usually get all of the toppings & add a sprinkle of cinnamon & splash of cream. My favorite hot beverage is the hot English breakfast latte. I think their secret ingredient is their vanilla powder which adds flavor & some sweetness. Lots of baked goods & sandwiches available too. As others have mentioned, parking at Market City can sometimes be very challenging (due to lack of available spots & inconsiderate drivers). Lastly, don't forget to get a stamp card, where you get a free beverage with maximum size of a large cup, when the card is full (after 50 stamps). You receive 1 stamp per $1.

Why am I drinking coffee at 5:15 p.m.? I need coffee to study and I am beginning my studies late, now what will I take to help me sleep tonight? I think this is going to be my new go-to spot for studying (outside of school). The parking lot is busy depending on when you come, but have patience you will find a spot. Free wifi! Yay! There are two real table inside which seat three people but there are 5 bar seats available. I saw five tables outside if you don't mind sitting and listening to traffic. The service is great and delivered with a smile. I have been here a couple of times and never had to wait in line or deal with employee issues. I do also want to mention that I phoned them to find out if they had free wifi before heading here. The employee answered the phone promptly and was curteous which is always a bonus. The variety of food is small compared to some larger Starbucks locations that I've seen but there is definitely something to satisfy your appetite. If not this location is adjacent to a Foodland and there are a number of food places in the area. Believe it or not I actually prefer The Coffee Bean flavor over Starbucks. Maybe it's just because I'm not one to follow the crowd, I don't know but I do like the flavor their coffee. Time to bang out some school work so I can party in the mountains this weekend!

I never paid really much attention to CB&TL before. My wife gets coffee before work a lot. I am not a coffee drinker so I usually don't get anything. One day she brings out an orange icy drink. She says she got me a Li Hing Lemonade. First sip and I was HOOKED. Its so good, saltly, sour, sweet and refreshing in all one sip. I almost went here 3x in a day to get my fix....sooooo good.

I choose CBTL over Starbucks ANYDAY & I especially love this location. 1. Their drinks taste GREAT 2. They are cheap! Only $5 for my large iced white chocolate latte. My coworker always gets the plantation tea & it's only like $3. 3. They are CONSISTENT. I am here for the same drink almost every single of the week, for at least the last 3 weeks & it has been on point EVERY time, no matter who's working. 4. I am not a hardcore coffee fanatic but their coffee is strong enough to keep me going at work 10-12hrs/day, 6days/week. 5. I hate going to Starbucks & seeing people lounging around, wasting table/chair space for HOURS. This CBTL is so tiny & they only have barstool style seating inside that it's impossible to do that. It's like this shop was tailored just for me! 6. HUGE variety of teas! I don't drink any of them but they're there The only cons I relate to this business are: 1. Even though I literally work 5mins away, I refuse to walk here. Too much homeless all over the place in this area. 2. The parking SUCKS unless I come early in the morning before work. Still giving 5stars because the cons aren't CBTL's fault!

Fast friendly service! Conveniently located next to food land so you can grocery shop and grab you coffee at the same time!

Automatic at least three stars if outdoor seating so I can bring ollie the dog. Add one more star for polite service and yummy cheddar bacon scone. Decided to have breakfast here and hang with the dog while the hub is doing grocery shopping at foodland. Not very many places that are dog friendly here in Honolulu so always glad to patronize places that are. It's noisy next to street but whatever I'll take what I can get. Chairs and tables are fairly clean and maintained.

I got helped by a worker named Lori. She was rushing us and quick to just finish our order. She just assumed that the drink I ordered was the largest size. And when she read our order back I was like excuse me I wanted the smallest size. She gave me an attitude like why didn't you tell me earlier. But despite this incident I'm a true converter from Starbucks. I don't really like going to this specific Coffee Bean location Im only giving this location TWO STARS. But if you take a drive down Kapahulu Ave and take a left when you're at the Waikiki Wall there is another location on Monsarat St.

Hazelnut latte extra hot is the best here! I've been getting it here for the past 3 yrs and it never disappoints. Very fast service and everyone is very nice.

  • Arthur S.

This coffee bean and tea leaf is small. There are a handful of chairs inside and some of the chair are really tall, so one cannot just simple lay out and relax. Although being near the shopping center it is in a convenient location which rates it to have 3 stars!

    (3)
  • Emily S.

Great spot! I came here for some ice blended drinks and left satisfied. My only problem is parking but it wasn't too bad. There were tons of people here because of the supermarket next door. Would be back!

  • Kelly V.

The ice blended drinks are much better than Starbucks. I used to be a diehard Starbucks customer but decided to try out Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and I'm hooked now. I even got my husband hooked on it and now we go every morning. Its our thing :)

The countertops were really sticky and the employees were goofing off and talking about personal matters with their friends. So unprofessional!

I'm normally partial to Starbucks, but after getting a gift card for Christmas for this chain of coffee shops, I was happily surprised! I really enjoy the much more extensive list of available teas that the Coffee Bean offers compared to Starbucks. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come here for coffee though. They also offer a sort of rewards program, where every dollar you spend equals on point on a stamp card. When you finish off the stamp card, you get a free drink, but I haven't finished one yet, so I'm not sure what the restrictions are. They also sell a small bit of food in the normal coffee shop display case. It's mostly pastries and the sort, but I do believe they also have small sandwiches if you're interested. It's good for a quick morning bite.

  • Nat N.

I will take CBTL over Star**** any day of the week. Their coffee doesn't have that burnt taste, and their pastries are 500 times better than Starbucks - in taste and selection. My new favorite pastry to go along with my coffee is their apple cinnamon crumb cake (ask for them to warm it up). Sooooooo good! This particular CBTL is the place to go in the morning because the staff knows what they're doing and can kick out your order in no time.

  • Jim M.

I go to WAY too many coffee places. On the whole, I prefer local coffee shops or smaller chains to Starbucks. That is one of the reasons I like Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Their selection of sandwich and pastry type items is very good. The regular coffee is better than Starbucks (not as bitter). I have often ordered a Cafe Mocha here and only recently learned that they do not use espresso, but rather regular coffee. Order an Espresso Macchiato if you like the chocolate, but also crave the extra caffeine. On a hot day, though the Malibu Dream strawberry banana drink hits the spot! They have a nice (but a bit noisy) outdoor seating area on the side of Foodland. My main complaint with this Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is the parking at Market City. Sometimes, even getting in and out of the parking lot can be a challenge.

  • Ashley Y.

If you drink ice-blended beverages, you know that the Coffee Bean Ice Blended's are the best. Way better than a Starbucks frappuccino. And their daily iced teas are full of flavor, and never bitter, which happens when tea is over steeped. That's perfect for me, since I usually reserve my sugar consumption for coffee-based drinks, not tea! I'm pretty obsessed with their plantation iced tea and lychee iced tea though, since those can only be found here in Hawaii! I can't have them on the mainland. The service is okay, usually good but sometimes just passable. The training program must be good though, because even people with bad attitudes ask all the right questions and my drinks are very consistent! They always warm up your muffins or scones, and if you eat in the cafe, it's served on a real plate! All said, I'll definitely keep coming back.

Went in for an afternoon treat, but they weren't serving the blended ice mud pie I thought I saw advertised recently somewhere. the server said it was for a limited time (seasonal).huh? I guess for spring, now it's summer. Anyway she suggested the cookies and cream with Oreo in either chocolate or vanilla.I got chocolate, it was a good change from my regular caramel blended. Servers were friendly.

I am definitely getting over the big box retailers for coffee! I am obsessed now with small boutique coffee shops where the coffee is an art form and tastes amazing without having to be covered with all that sugary and milk crap! I used to love their ice blended coffees and lattes here but I would have to say I'm done! It just doesn't taste good! I do think that Coffee Bean is better than Starbucks though, without a doubt, but I'd rather support the high quality coffee shops that really take pride in what they're doing!

Nice change from the everyday Starbucks. Tons of pastries and cold sandwiches. The staff was friendly and happy to serve all customers. If there where more of these around Starbucks would be in trouble!

Must Order: Ultimate Mocha, Ultimate Vanilla or Hot Chai Tea Latte I'm going to write this with the risk of being stoned by hardcore Starbucks fanatics. I HEART CBTL SOOOO much more than Starbucks. I'll also have to give you the disclaimer that I like the frou frou mixed coffees, not much of a straight-up coffee kinda gal so this is going to be based on mixed coffees. I personally prefer CBTL's blended drinks over Starbucks. Something about them makes it so much better whereas with Starbucks I feel like it's overly sweetened with syrup and sometimes makes me feel yucky after drinking it. Ultimate Mocha/Vanilla: I LOVE these. Ground up coffee beans in my coffee blended drink? YES YES YES (Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally style). These alone helped sustain me through some of my busiest weeks at work. I requested to have one of their baristas follow me around to whip them up for me whenever I needed but unfortunately their Twitter response was: "Hahaha, we wish". No guys, I wish. Hot Chai Tea Latte: This is a very creamy latte and kind of tastes like animal crackers, which is probably why I like it so much! It doesn't quite have that chai spiciness to it but it's definitely the coffee I crave when I need a pick-me-up on a cold day. However the ice chai tea latte tastes different and has more of the chai spice to it but I prefer it hot. Note: if you follow their @TheCoffeeBean & @CoffeeBeanHI you get their tweets w/ promotions. Occasionally some of their national promotions do not extend to Hawaii (go figure).

Yay! A new tea place for me! Although this is my least favorite parking lot EVER, if I need to come here and buy groceries, I will definitely walk on over and grab myself a tea. It is my reward for braving the parking lot and waiting probably five minutes for a stall. Anyways... the employees here seem more relaxed and at ease... not like another certain competitor... ahem... I was new customer to the tea leaf recently and the girl behind the cash register helped me find the exact decaf iced tea I wanted. Now it's my fave! Such great customer service. Now I stop here at least once a week if not more. I also love that they have a punch card. Great job, CBTL!

Wanted Kona coffee or something local and I was sad that their roasts are only 10% Kona... Still better than Starbucks which I don't like, but my vanilla latte was way too sweet and it was really only an average coffee. Would give it another try and order something else but not another latte which is what I usually drink.

Dear Starbucks, I love you, too, but I'm sorry, the Bean has got you beat on the pastries and food items. You are near to the Coffee Bean in Manoa Valley so depending where my friends go, I will split my caffeine fix between you and the Bean... Anyway, back to my Bean review. Love their pastries and food offerings - my favorite go-to pastry has been their chocolate chip waffle. It is embedded with chocolate chips and yes, it smells like a waffle, shaped like a waffle, tastes like a waffle, so it must be...a waffle and must be toasted, please. Although I'm a crunchy cookie kind of girl, this reminds me of a chewy chocolate chip cookie - warm and oooh, so yummy. It has the perfect chewy, mouth-feel, perfect amount of sweetness and chocolatiness that will go perfectly with a warm or iced coffee beverage of your choice (yes, don't say it, there I go again...food pairing). It's also a very easy/neat thing to eat on the go while you're zooming to work in the morning. Everything in their pastry case is a winner - salted caramel bread pudding, carrot cake, chocolate cake, red velvet cupcake (not a fan but know it's popular), and anything else that starts or ends with cake. Okay now to the food, how many times can I use the word "love"? Many. Love the assorted wraps - apricot chicken, tuna artichoke (my fav), salmon, chicken Caesar, etc. A nice surprise for the price but most definitely for the taste is my ultimate fav there and that's the Chinese Chicken salad and it's under $4 - this is My Happy Meal! It hits the spot when you're craving something crunchy, fresh and green, or when you finally need to eat some greens when your cheat meal turns into a cheat day (or cheat week *sigh*). An added bonus for you frequent visitors, you need to get a stamp card and fill up your card with each drink/food purchase. A filled card can get you a free drink of choice - ANY size, style, iced, hot, tea, coffee, blended, etc. Just their way of saying "thanks"! Convenient parking (not a problem for KOP and QOP) and friendly staff (at all the Coffee Beans I've been to so far). Thank you Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf...where have you bean all my life?!

  • Justin R.

I gave this place five stars mostly because of my own personal reasons: 1. It's close by 2. It's next to a Foodland (LOVE THEIR POKE!) 3. They offer an oreo drink (Cookie Crumble, whether or not they advertise it) 4. Great place to study 5. Love their choice of music 90% of the time Overall, my go-to place to get some work done. Parking may be a bitch (Market City is known for that)--but if you go at the right time, parking shouldn't be a hassle. Also, if worse comes to worse I think theirs like two levels of parking (there's a lower level where other restaurants like L&L and Ben Franklin's at).

Hurts to leave my first negative review but I found a piece of metal (small screw) in my ice blended green tea drink today. Manager did replace my drink and offer a drink for free on my next visit (via coupon) but I will have to stay clear of this location for a little while.

  • Sean Q.

New fan of coffee bean. Their bags of coffee are a little pricier than the average Hawaiian coffee you'll find in the store, but so much better! Beyond the better quality coffee you get a free drink and free coffee filters (usually I have to ask) with the purchase of a bag of coffee. This on top of all the stamps on my card I cash in on a lot of free drinks in the store, and great coffee in my pot at home. LOVE coffee bean!!!

  • Sara T.

I'm generally a loyal Starbucks girl, but you can't beat the convenience of this place right next to Foodland. I ordered a large iced decaf Americano, which was the same price as an iced coffee (Starbucks, it's slightly more expensive unless you get a Venti). I had always remembered TCBTL's coffee to be weaker than Starbucks' so I was pleasantly surprised by the bold, dark-roast flavor of the Americano. The crushed ice is different - I'm not sure whether I like it more or less than cubed Ice, but it made the drink a little more interesting, almost like a coffee slushy. Service was quick and friendly. I'll be back next time I need to go grocery shopping at Foodland!

  • My S.

Their hazelnut flavor is to die for! Every time I am in town I make sure I stop by to grab a Hazelnut latte or if it's blazing hot I order an ultimate hazelnut (it's like the sbux frap meets Dairy Queen's blizzard.... But WAY better. It's blended just perfectly so you can still taste just a hint of coffee bean (like a mini spec of chocolate sprinkle). This is my best friend on a hot sunny day. Don't forget your stamp card. It adds up real fast to your free drink. :)

  • Mrs. M.

I love Coffee Bean! They have no sugar added chocolate so I can order their mocha coffee without added sugar. Their mocha coffee also tastes 100% better than Starbucks. Their mocha flavor is delicious but it seems not all Coffee Bean locations make their ice blended mocha the same, Some places have less mocha flavor. The Market City location makes the best ice blended mocha coffee!

If you simply looove .. 1.) Having a good variety of teas for tea lattes, 2.) Enjoy free wireless internet connection, 3.) Picking up a zesty chicken salad for only about $3, 4.) A coffee/tea place that's open a bit later than most places (until 10pm), 5.) Warm, friendly service, 6.) Knowing it's right next to Foodland for more treats .. Go there! ^_^*

  • 'Alohi G.

The coffee is good, although I prefer dark and it's not offered after 12p. Service was ok. The girl was nice, but gave me a crappy cup that sloshed HOT coffee all over me as I walked back to work. Made me wonder how she thought I'd be able to get the cover back on securely after adding my cream/sugar if she does this as a job and couldn't. I mean come on... So what if you waste a cup? Take the initiative and do things right. I just wasn't impressed.

I hear that they have a couple civil rights lawsuits pending against them for their treatment of mentally challenged and gay customers. I have witnessed such treatment myself, they need to get training for their staff.

You can enter this store from either the street end or through Foodland by taking a left upon entering. I am not a huge fan of coffee, so I am very lost when it comes to ordering. Luckily, the "Barista" that assisted me was a young male who was extremely helpful and patient. He took the time to listen to my needs and explained the different coffees, lattes and how some may be too strong. Even though there were people behind waiting, he did not make me feel rushed. Ended up ordering the medium Hazelnut Latte for $5. It was very delicious and I was also given a card that is good until August 2012 where if you spend $50 you receive a free drink. Definitely ask about it, if you are not offered one. They also have a bunch of other goodies near the window from teas, to coffee mixtures and bottles with their logo for on the go people. I didn't have the time to browse through all their selection, but if you are a coffee/tea person they have quite a variety to choose from.

I love that this is located inside Foodland. If I'm shopping, I'll literally park my cart inside to grab an americano or chai tea latte. They're always so friendly & they have a punch card!

Disclaimer: This review score is based soley on my 2 last visits to the Bean and only on ONE food product. I will not be making comments about customer service, the drinks, this location or anything else. Let's begin. I visited this particular Coffee Bean on Tuesday and yesterday of this week. They (and I'm sure this applies to ALL sites) have new menu items. One of which caught my eye. The belgium waffle. I wish I took a picture, it comes in vanilla and chocolate flavor and the sign says it doesn't require butter or syrup. I ordered one of each and they asked me if I wanted it toasted. I said "yes please" and then waited for my order. This waffle is about the size of your palm and about a quarter of an inch thick, but OH-MY-GOD PACKED with flavor. I don't know how they did it??? It was delicious, sweet, crunchy, chocolalety, vanilla-ey, fantastic, awesome, and it didn't require any butter or syrup just like the sign said. SO YUMMY. I'm going on Paleo so I won't be able to enjoy it again for another 30 days, but when I can...I'll be back for more. GO try one.

Great espresso. iced vanilla latte was not flakey or clumpy at all. perfect iced latte from barista. had my coffee ready for me almost as fast as i had paid for it! great in store ambience, very clean environment. Very few coffee shops with this level of cleanliness. Good Job, 5 stars

Twas the perfect day for iced mocha latte light on the ice! The establishment is small but clean and bright. Got me my coffee fix when I needed it and was satisfactory. Nothing extraordinary.

  • Murray B.

The coffee is alright (better than starbucks but not as high quality as Glazer's) and the service has been quick. I have not tried their espresso drinks. While they have the expected breakfast type pastries, they also have other assorted food items including dessert (ex: carrot cake, cupcakes). Although the store is adjacent to Foodland (caffeine boost before grocery shopping anyone?), it is also right next to Harding and the freeway. This can make their patio area quite the noisy place to enjoy your beverage.

    (3)
  • Forest F.

The coffee at this location is constantly bad. The espresso drinks come out so hot, it takes a week for them to cool off to a temperature that is consumable. For what ever reason, the iced espresso drinks taste like cheap blended McDonalds coffee drinks. Also, the food they have there is boring and not much selection. I hate to say it, but I would rather drink coffee from Starbucks then this place.

I prefer their teas to the coffee though both are delicious. This location is clean and the baristas are so fast and know how to make a good drink! Their edible treats helped to satiate my appetite when I was rushing and hungry. The prices are fair and it's a nice break from the usual Starbucks.

Okay so I was in search for a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf that was still open because I was craving for their Morrocan Mint Green Tea Latte. So as we search the internet on our phone we quickly find that the Market City one is open daily till 10:00 PM. Amazing! Not even the ones at Ala Moana are open that late. Anyways we head over to Market City and order our Morrocan Mint and Japanese Cherry Green Tea Lattes. Ahhh! It hit the spot! That is my absolute favorite green tea latte. I actually crave for it. Anyways, just a heads up that this location closes at 10 which is the latest we found that was open. Service was quick and their location is pretty clean. I dig Coffee Bean a little more than Starbucks.

Coffee overall is a rich smooth non-bitter (compared to Starbucks)tasting coffee.Love the stamp program. Just cashed in my filled card, and made a drink worth over $10 free!

Two Americanos here were not so good. Staff was ok, but seemed less than thrilled to be there. It was later in the evening so maybe they were tired and ready to close. I do plan to try it again and hope the first time was a fluke.

At this location of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf they have super barista's that are consistent and friendly! I frequent this location usually on the weekends and even if it's busy they are fast. I love that they are consistent when making their drinks. It seems some other coffee places have their good days and not so good days. Since it is located in Foodland it's convenient if you need to grab anything from there before starting your day!

I get my ice americano here everyday! The staff here is awesome!!! As soon as I walk in the door, I get a first-class treatment from everybody (Lori, Becca, Rachel, Stacy, Cindy and Dell). It's always nice to go to a place where everybody knows ur name. :)
