Alright, let me set the scene: My buddy and I were at a pre-screening of a yet unreleased movie at Ward Consolidated Theaters. Security was tight. They searched everyone for recording equipment as we entered the theater. They required each of us to completely turn off our phones as part of the search. They displayed a warning slide about how recording the movie would constitute a criminal offence and they would be using advanced monitoring equipment that could detect electronic devices. The usher made a similar announcement just before the movie started. Then, he had a seat by the door where he could watch us all. I'm not sure, but he may have put on night-vision goggles. So, as the lights went down and the movie started; I broke out our two pre-made Starbucks sandwiches that I had somehow luckily smuggled through the security gauntlet. Let me be clear: we do not do this as a matter of practice, but APEC traffic slowed our trip to Ward enough that our dinner-first plans had to be scrapped, and I wasn't about to eat movie theater hotdogs and/or nachos for dinner. Starbuck was right downstairs and those pre-made sandwiches looked fast, easy and surprisingly good. I was not aware that Starbucks wraps their pre-made sandwiches very well in VERY noisy plastic wrap. The noisy plastic wrap combined with the theater security goons, and what might have possibly been the world's quietest start to a movie made for several minutes of intense awkwardness as we both unsuccessfully struggled to quietly unwrap our sandwiches. After what seemed like an eternity, KABOOM!! There was a most welcome onscreen explosion that filled the previously uber-quite theater with enough noisy mayhem to mask our noisy sandwiches wrappers. As if on-queue, we both simultaneously ripped into them and laughed uncontrollably. I'm pretty sure the explosion was loud enough to hide the noisy sandwiches wrappers, but I'm doubtful if it covered our seemingly inappropriate laughter. For the next several minutes, we both enjoyed our pre-made Starbucks chicken-salad sandwiches.

Totally busy during the happy hour special frappe promotion but otherwise they were on it with the drinks.

Starbucks is always raising their prices and yet, I am an avid customer. This Ward Entertainment Center location has been my best friend for the past several months. The team of barista are friendly and helpful. I love my morning run of iced cold coffee.

I've had better, like the one down the street, its hip, its live, its...Yay welcome! At this one, oh boy...know which sbux i wont be visiting soon.

Ah! My favorite Starbuck's! probably because there's a cute local Japanese hapa looking girl that works there and remembers my drink and name every time I come in. Now that's customer service. Again, I will give 4 star's because there's always room for improvement.

what: a coffee shop, each location is slightly different but the drinks are always consistent~ something good: this location is my favorite one. i don't like when it's too busy and crowded with tons of people. this one is a little more mellow and no one really bothers you. i like how the seats feel like they are out of the way and you can really relax and do what you are trying to do. i just absolutely love that they have free wifi! something not so good: it's a small location, so if you come during a busy time, they may not have seats! something to try: hot panini roasted tomato and mozzarella (5) & bottled mocha drink (3.50)

Hey, I was just here, at 10:15PM. Saw they are open until midnight! I thought they all closed earlier. Anyway, I was hungry for something light and was craving a turkey pesto melt. They were out for the day, but the friendly guy at the counter suggested the roasted tomato and mozzarella. It also has spinach and basil pesto on it, on a piccolo roll. It was so good warmed up, so the cheese is melted! I also grabbed a strawberry & blueberry yogurt parfait for breakfast- love these!

Visit: 5/4/09 - Had a caramel Machiatto. I was here waiting for my movie to start. The drink was okay. Nothing special. I guess I need to be a better mood when I drink Starbucks.

You've been to one SB you've been to them all. NOT! I went to the one next to the Ward theater and was treated as an intruder...like I was impeding on their time. Will NOT return. I was so taken back because I am so use to being treated with a smile and by people who seem to love their job. Not this time. :/

This is probably the busiest SBUX in the state! you're always able to find colleagues and people you haven't seen in forever mixing and mingling here!! Staff is super friendly though they mean business! In and out in under 5 minutes... Awesome SBUX to check out!

This is my go-to Starbucks location. Although there has been some turnover over the past few months, most of the baristas remember my name and my favorite drinks. There are usually tables open and service is fast. The friendly staff is what keeps me coming back.

They are always smiling and greet you. i love the service at Starbucks as much as i love coffee. This starbuck is little smaller size inside but the outside has more table for you to sit and enjoy outdoor view. Just like other starbucks this place does have full menu and it offers hot food and deserts too. i love to get green tea lemonade , passion fruit with strawberry w/ thai wall and 2 pumps of sweeten, and when i'm not craving something sweet i get a joy tea. I like this location because it's close to movie and i like to sit at the coffee shop while i wait for the movies. coffee place is perfect place to have a chat with friend or family.

In the first place, i don't really go to Starbucks. But when i do & if i'm in the area, i come here. I always find parking in the lot where the old Nordstrom Rack use to be & this location is not that busy (at least when o go). I never had a bad experience so far. I guess i was just disappointed that they seem to not really know about the new flavor frappuccinos that recently came out. There was no advertisement about it which led me to believe they didn't offer it at this location. I had to ask & the guy at the cashier was like, "ughh yah i think we have it." So, i ordered the lemon bar frappuccino with coconut milk & my daughter ordered the cupcake frappuccino. My daughter & i were looking forward to trying the new flavors out since we first heard of it. We were so disappointed! My lemon bar frapp had no flavor. It tasted like water w/ whip cream. My daughter's cupcake frapp tasted like a sugar free vanilla bean. I don't think the barista really knew how to make these drinks. We ordered minis & we ended up just throwing them away. I wouldn't say i won't come back here, but next time i'll just order the standard drinks.

Normally I wouldn't review chain companies but this one deserved a review... Starbucks - known for their tea and coffee, right? But this review is all about their ice! Oh how I love their ice: not cubed, not crushed... Melts gracefully in my mouth. This location blessed me and my friends' drinks with a ton of it. MY FAV! More than half my cup with filled with ice! I'm so glad I finally found a Starbucks that isn't stingy with their ice. For the low price of $4, I got tons of ice and a splash of milk and matcha! But seriously though, while I am completely aware of the fact that you can customize drinks with "light ice," (and I usually do) I don't think drinks should be half to 3/4 filled with ice!!! Ridiculous. (Picture attached: the liquid contents of a "31 oz" TRENTA peach green tea lemonade with Thai walls transferred into a 17-18 oz bottle, ice removed. Imagine how much ice it took to diminish 31 by practically a third!) Ignoring the ice, the drinks themselves are made decently and I appreciate that. I wish I had ordered the drinks myself so I could've seen which barista made our icy drinks.

Quaint and quiet little store with friendly service located at the base of the Ward Consolidated Theaters complex. This little shop is tiny and you won't see the "usual" student crowd or folks planted at tables with their electronic devices. It's actually quiet and restful in here even though there are only 4 or 5 tables indoors. What else GOOD can I say about Starbucks that I and many others haven't said before? I like this location for its proximity to the theaters so I can grab a quick bite or drink before or after watching a movie. Their baristas are friendly and efficient like all other locations. Perhaps because they're not a full-sized café works to their advantage as there is hardly a crowd that lingers yet they still offer the quality Starbucks experience that you come to expect from other locations.

This location is at the opposite end of the Ward shopping complex (whatever they call themselves these days) from the much larger and much, much busier location along Ward Avenue. In the evenings, when that other location is packed, this one often has seats available. Granted most of the seating is outside with no electrical outlets so furiously working on a laptop for hours isn't practical but for actually being able to sit while drinking coffee, tea, or whatever suits your mood at the time, it is perfect.

  • Krysten I.

This is a very tiny Starbucks, so there's not very much inside seating area, especially when compared to the other ward Starbucks. It's unfortunate because all I want is to sit in the nice AC of a Starbucks for hours and hours.... This summer heat is almost unbearable. There is a good flow of customers at this location and there are always plenty of baristas and cashiers, so even if there is a line, it moves quickly. The baristas here are also very pleasant. Not all Starbucks barista are friendly, unfortunately. I like coming here to get venti iced teas to sneak into the theaters (I have a big, flat bottomed purse specifically for this purpose). Usually I'd feel bad sneaking food or drink into another establishment, but when I buy a $13 movie ticket and $7 bag of popcorn, I refuse to force myself to drink soda or buy a $4 bottle of water.

This Starbucks is one of the nicer starbucks, its less crowded than the ward starbucks near sports authority and there's even outdoor seating

i love getting coffee/tea here!!! The cashier Lacey is the best cashier ever! she is super friendly and helpful and knows almost everyone who walks in the door (obviously regulars) and she is always happy and cheerful. My absolute favorite Starbucks to go to hands down!

How does this place do it. My previous visit started with spectacular service when I requested my Green Tea Frappucino but a bit thick like a shake and now six months later I ordered the exact same item that came out super think without any requests. I've ventured into Starbucks from Tokyo, Okinawa, LA, Chicago, Boston, Florida and downtown HNL but never have I had it so good as this place. Anywhere else its partially watery and never like a thick shake. The girl making my Frap hit it spot on... I will be back again!

  • Brooke N.

I like Starbucks because no matter which one you go to my no water chai soy latte always tastes the same. My only disappointment...whenever I get a bagel I ask for it lightly toasted, no cream cheese. I usually don't get a receipt to save the trees and it never fails they give me a knife and cream cheese. It wouldn't be so bad if it were free but they charge me an extra 50 cents plus tax. I guess that's Starbucks way of maintaining their empire. Extra wasted charges. Either that or no one listens to me when I ask for no cream cheese...so I tried it where I didn't say anything. Yea they still gave me the cream cheese automatically and of course it came along with the automatic .50 cent charge too.

Everytime we come here the staff isn't so friendly. I know once we just stood around waiting on the side an extra 5-10 min and they didn't bother to call our name for our drinks and by the time we came around the corner to see if our drinks were done it was just sitting there melting :(. They weren't busy with anyone...so not sure why they couldn't let us know?

  • Lisa F.

The barista there used my reward on the cheapest item (grande iced green tea) valued at $2.75 instead of redeeming it for the snack pack for $5.95 or my turkey pesto for $4.95 like the other locations do. Wats up with that?!

My fave barista works at this 'bucks. He is fabulous, wonderful and always friendly. He always remembers my order, and that makes my experience there all worth it. :) It's so important to have great customer service and this Starbucks always delivers.

You can see them make their new soda drink, FIZZIO. It was too sweet for me and not worth the price. If I'm gonna drink soda, I'll stick with the regular brands like coke or pepsi products. Very pleasant counter/cashier worker. I like that they will give a free cup of water anytime you ask.

My tip: Really nice staff but there are some real strange peeps that I see hanging out whenever I stop in #justsaying Located right on the corner of Ward (near the theater) next to Men's Warehouse, I can always count on this Starbucks for a decently quick-moving line and my drink made just the way I want it. There's never really a good selection of desserts or food items, but if you are headed to Starbucks mainly for a beverage, then don't worry about it. As I stated in my tip, you can always count on a few strange peeps nearby, but they mind their own business, which is probably why they get to "hang out." One guy is always unraveling cigarettes and collecting the tobacco (that's my guess) and making the biggest mess on the same table every time I stop in. I guess if he's buying a cup of coffee, he's a patron (no matter what). There's tons of parking around if you are willing to make a short walk (because there is no parking right in front of this Starbucks). But a great alternative Starbucks when the bigger Ward location is bumpin'.

The best Starbucks in Hawaii, atleast the Oahu Island for sure. The biggest Starbucks store with the largest collection of products and highest amount of seating capacity I believe, both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor there are also sofas for lounging and chilling. Open for the longest hours, I think upto 1 am. Once I was until midnight and there was no request or rush to close down. Highly recommended, huge coffee shop.

I have 3 fave starbucks spots and its one of them. They are always clean, on time and friendly! They always get my order right, one time the girl got me the wrong size ( i asked for small but she gave me grande) but corrected and didn't make me pay the extra $$. Its a great place to kill sometime if you are a little bit early to the movies or your boy is shopping at the Mens Wearhouse or even working out at World's Gym. I would say sometimes THERE IS some weirdo's hanging out around the place but its not Starbucks fault! that area that they are located at have a lot of creepy people/residents roaming around.

this 1 star is for the older white lady with short blond wavy hair... you should not be working at Starbucks!! you have ZERO personality, you don't know your product and you have been there for a while. You take 10 min to make a simple tea drink and I was the only one there basically. You should not be making drinks! every time I see you at the bar, I turn and go to the other location. you don't know how to even ring up drinks or write it correctly on the cup. Let alone read the drink on the cup when making drinks. you had to remake drinks before me because you messed up. Starbucks is all about personality & speed! people have to get to work. Your manager is an idiot for hiring you and keeping you. it's been almost a year and you still don't have it down... that's bad. I should know, I used to work for the company.

First time at this location. Not much to say. I placed my order, got my item and enjoyed it. Service was nice and friendly, order came out fast and correctly. #Yelp 365 037/365 Date Visited: Tuesday, September 6, 2011

This is the closest Starbucks to my office, but I agree with other reviews about this location. The service is inconsistent among the Batista's, but there are a few notable employees that provide the kind of high quality service that you expect from a Starbucks: friendly, professional, and tries to remember your order. I am Starbucks junkie and have been to every location in Hawaii, so I should either buy stock or work at a store to subsidize my habit :) If you are worried about lines, the other location is by far much worse.

I just love SBUX, so automatic 5 stars. Plus, this location is darn convenient for movie goers.

    (5)
  • Scott T.

This Starbucks is so convenient when you want good coffee or tea right after a movie or a meal. It's usually not that crowded and the workers there move the line pretty quick. The place itself isn't as big compared to the Starbucks at the other end of Ward Center but it's nice and I'm glad they made one here.

Slowest and most disorganized Starbucks I've been to in recent memory. Between waiting in line to order and waiting for the drinks to come out, my husband and I waited for over 20 minutes. Also, the baristas didn't take down any names, so the drinks became mixed up when the orders were similar/the same. They might have been able to salvage another star with friendly service, but it wasn't even remotely friendly. Slow + Disorganized + Unfriendly = not a stellar Starbucks visit. This was for yesterday during the late afternoon.

Even though I drive by this Starbucks location every day while I am on my way to work, I don't frequent this Starbucks to get my cup of coffee. However, today on a whim I decided to stop in to buy a caramel macchiato latte. Ordered a tall caramel macchiato with soy milk with the cashier and he rang up my order and I paid with cash. It was until after I left the store did I realize I was overcharged for my cup of coffee. I don't believe I ever paid $5.18 for a cup of coffee. Ever! By holding the cup of coffee, it did not feel like it was a full cup too. Felt more like it was three-quarters full. Come to think of it I am not sure I will ever go back to this location again.

Shaken not stirred, please... I love their Shaken Passion Tea Lemonade. My honey and I will usually come here when we are at Ward Center to pass the time before we head into the movies. Each time, we're never disappointed. The service is quick and efficient. The baristas are customer-service friendly. The ambiance friendly and sooo intellectual. I am not sure if any of you feels this way when you sit there with either your laptop or book...you just feel a little smarter ;) I actually think the atmosphere boosts up your creative juices, which enables you to finish your paper or be innovative with your friends, learning team, or business partners. All in all, if you are in the Ward Center area shopping or waiting for the movies, stop by this Starbucks. It's worth it.

I really only come to this Starbucks nook if I had any business in the Ward area. It's located towards Kamake'e Street next to the Big City Diner - still in the Ward theater complex. Great for post movie drinks and whatnot. The Starbucks location is very small, with only 3 tables to sit on. While I was there, I could just get my drink, since there was a line and people were sitting at the tables already. Hmph. This Starbucks is not the location to chill and stretch out from a long day's work, due to its limitations. The staff,. as always is friendly and fast. I normally get my choice of strawberry & creme or double chocolaty chip frappuchino (venti). Never ever disappointed with Starbucks. They know their deal.

For my first purchase here I found this place to be a pretty chill Starbucks. It wasn't busy when I came in the afternoon time. It is conveniently located next to the whole Ward Center area and other shops and food places. I always get the green tea frappuccino which is my favorite drink. I also like their cupcakes and scones. The staff and customer service is cool. They have a couple seats inside and outside. If you sit outside just don't mind the people in the walkway/pathway if it bothers you. Like all other locations, free WiFi is always da bomb. Yelp 365 Challenge #05/365
