I've been away for two weeks and miss the staff already. They know my name and know my various drinks by heart. I recently went to the Ward Starbucks where the treatment is very impersonal. Now I appreciate Koko Marina even more. The store itself is always air conditioned nicely--a good refuge from work on a hot day. Anyways you guys are wonderful!

Staff is super nice! They always remember my name and are always in a cheerful mood! Super fast, friendly and Great customer service over all! Pleasant environment to study in =-)

First off long line but went by fast. The cashier unfortunately was rude. We (my dad, my bf and myself) were next in line and the cashier bypasses us and asks the guy behind us to take his order. When asked if he was just going to skip us, he responded with I thought the other cashier was helping you. The other cashier was no where near. He could have at least asked us if we were being helped before asking another customer, being that we were right in front of him. And he shouldn't have assumed we were all together since we were all paying separate. But our iced lemon pound cake, and our passion teas with Thai walls were delicious, as always! :)

I don't really think Starbucks coffee is that good but I come here often to take advantage of AC, which I lack at home. I noticed that someone that works in this Starbucks location has music tastes that I appreciate and wanted to give them a good review for it. Twice now I've come here and heard a range of songs from bands like Ride and Pavement. I was pleasantly surprised. Whoever you are, keep playing this music while you work!!! It is appreciated!

This Starbucks has such a great team of baristas rocking out the work week. And they do it with flare! I love stepping foot in here before my 11-hour day to see the familiar, friendly faces: Dane, Trey, Didi, Jiji, Jim, and so many others. Baristas have a tough job. They need to work fast. They need to memorize every little nuance, abbreviation, allergy, and food item. Their job will directly affect the rest of their customer's work day in a good or bad way. And they ALWAYS have to sound chipper no matter how long their day is. I have a secret soft spot in my heart when people remember me by first name. Sure, it's written on my scrub so if one were to "cheat" and take a millisecond glance, I wouldn't hold it against them! But remembering what I like to order takes my affections to a whole 'nother level! How do they do it?? They see hundreds, if not thousands of faces every week and can remember my tall mocha and everything bagel like clockwork! Jiji impressed me yesterday when my unspoken order rolled right off her tongue like we were long lost sisters. I wanted to jump the counter and give her a BEAR HUG! Dane always has the best responses to my salutations. His above-and-beyond customer service attitude is most commendable and will enthusiastically bring my food order to me in the waiting area no matter how long the line is. High five Dane! Didi and I go way back when we worked together at Alan Wong's so we always have a few laughs to go around. I have nothing but love for this team. One word of advice would be to give ample time for pre-work coffee runs when there is a new barista manning the front. Sometimes, the line can get insanely long and it's best to just come back at a later time or give at least 7-10 minutes before you start your shift. Their food items are yummy. I usually order the steel-cut oatmeal with agave syrup, fresh blueberries, and fruit-n-nut medley. They also have a spinach feta wrap if you're trying to eat healthier than their ham and cheese croissant sandwich. Love the team, love the coffee, definitely returning tomorrow!

I very much like this Starbucks. There is usually a place to sit and the service is fast. I like that the staff here really focus on working as a team to get the customers order out verses chatting in the back to the point where they forget what they are mixing together. I have to say that the customers are quite friendly as well. Every time I have been here some one exiting the store will say hello to me as I walk in! Perhaps it is the neighborhood and other Starbucks are like that - but I definitely notice that here. Both reasons keeps me coming back to this particular location.

Any Starbucks you go to is an automatic win. Fresh beagles and a wide selection off coffee. Iced Caramel Macchiato. Mmmmmm. So good

This Starbucks is probably my favorite when it comes to good service, good ambience, and good drinks. Service -I am usually here in the evenings and night and have had awesome service each time I've been here. The baristas are friendly when taking your order and even offer suggestions if you're stumped. I've had great conversations with many of them and the drinks are out quickly. Ambience -I'm a sucker for Starbucks ambience and this one does a good job at keeping it up. The cafe is clean, spaced out well, and always has low key music playing. One thing I'd like to point out is that it can get really cold in here- bring a sweater!!! Drinks -Starbucks drinks....they're pretty much the same everywhere. But what I love about the ones at this Starbucks is that the baristas offer suggestions to customize the drink to what you are craving at the moment. The drinks aren't overloaded with ice like some other Starbucks cafes. *For people who spend a huge part of their lives here doing work...the important information is that they have wifi and outlets (four main ports in the store). The current wifi network is called Google Starbucks. Hope this was helpful to those of you in the area and in need of a Starbucks! -Cecilia C. twitter.com/ceciliaucc

rude rude rude! i waited over 10 minutes for my drink. they ignored me and the 10+ ppl behind me got there drinks before me! do not come to this starbucks! service sucks i didnt even gey my drink filled when i asked about it, she got mad.???great service- be rude to customers so they don't come back The girl next to me needed the code for the bathroom- the young snobby Asian man behind the counter told her she had to wait in line to get the code? Unbelievable!

This starbucks is quite nice because it has a huge parking lot and the seating area is pretty nice as well. Only downside is the storm of people during morning hours that occasionally occurs...

As another yelperson said, not the cleanest Starbucks, but it may be because many hawai'i Kai Tweens, teens, college students, miscellaneous business folk / gamers / cheap couples hang here. Emphasis on HANG. So yeah, pretty busy & dirty, but lacking the shiftier (mentally something) elements of some of the ward / auahi store. The crew tries to clean regularly, so it's not neglect, but greater & younger traffic. Good mixmasters with off menu stuff. Chocolate smoothies -- not too sweet. Thai walls, etc. Kudos to Bryce who remembers your name & engages custoMers in friendly convo!

  • Ryan M.

Starbucks is awesome! Drinks are consistent across the board; it doesn't matter if you get one in Hawaii Kai or in Seattle; they all taste the same. We got here about 10 minutes before they closed and it was empty. We were able to order the drink and within about a min or two, our drink came right out. I must say it was one of the fastest turnarounds I've experienced. I guess, it pays to come when it's about to close. That way you don't have to deal with crowds or long waits!

  • Michelle M.

A trenta iced coffee costs 48 cents more here than in Town... I get that it's all about location, location, location...but having a captive audience doesn't warrant the extra if the coffee is going to suck. Disappointed in my bitter bean tasting iced coffee today.

  • Jin K.

I brought in my own cup and these idiots put their sticker on my cup leaving the sticker residue behind. This is the first starbucks that I've been to that actually put a sticker on my cup. The other ones use the removable papers or a sleeve...but nip not this one. I'll never come here again. And if I can't get this sticker off I will make them responsible to replace my cup as starbucks no longer sell my cup.

As far as Starbucks locations go, this is in the middle to lower category for me. Sometimes I get amazing coffee here but most of the time it's really a fail. I'm not saying the barista's are less than capable or anything, but if I wanted burnt coffee, I could do it far cheaper at home. I just don't enjoy this cave like location. It's dark and the coffee is never quite right. I admit I do go here rather regularly because my over exhausted self needs a caffeine fix stat, even if it tastes burnt. The one plus is that there is a decent amount of seating and that it's one of the more quiet locations I've been to. It's never really busy which is another plus. If the coffee was better I'd give it more stars but sadly, for some reason this location is blah at best as far as taste goes.

Heartbreaking, really. There are a few places that I go to simply because they are consistent. McDonald's, CPK, my bathroom for my own Brazilian wax, and usually, Starbucks. This day was no different except that it happened to be MY LAST DAY IN HAWAII BEFORE MOVING TO HOUSTON FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!! But I digress.... I ordered my seasonal usual, tall pumpkin spice latte, soy, no whip thank you very much. Not lactose intolerant, straight up allergy like hives and un-cuteness. Venti vanilla latte for my hubby who is waiting outside, wrestling our Pomeranian into something quieter (fingers crossed) A few minutes later and our drinks are handed over to us cheerfully. *sniff sniff* Something is different. I take a sip. Dishwater? Dishwater with a little coffee in it? I take our drinks to the Starbucks condiment bar hoping to salvage my latte and the day in general to no avail. I now have dishwater coffee with a crapload of nutmeg and cinnamon. My husband suggests I take a Mulligan and have them remake it, but I fear the moment is over. Tragic, because it was pretty damn amazing the day before! Consistency. It's key.

Every Starbucks is a key place to go so if u been to Starbucks then u know the standards. Great selection of food but I wish they carried more of the panini tomato basil and cheese one. Yum is my short description of Starbucks. Make sure to stop by when your around

I think it's the best starbucks on the island. I come here to grade papers at least once per week. All starbucks coffee is the same, and you can get a "really big" latte anywhere, but this place just feels good. The average customer here is moderately to extremely beautiful....if I compared myself to them I would feel bad, but fortunately I'm quite secure with myself and just enjoy the show. As I write this I'm looking at at least 2 guys who got fired from Abercrombie and Fitch for being too handsome and 4 award winning surf company bikini models...the place is ridiculous. On top of that, everyone is awesomely nice, there's always a table and almost never a wait.....I used to drive all over Honolulu to find a workable paper-grading space, now I just drive straight here. It's proximity to the movie theater and Kona Brewing Company is just another bonus. Hope to have a coffee with you sometime.

I have written many papers and studied for many tests here. It has enough tables/chairs/outlets and it's not too popular of a spot, so I can usually find a good place to set up camp. There is usually lots of parking as well. I've never had any service/quality issues here, and it's the closest Starbucks to my house, so I stop by in the mornings for my coffee. Love the free Wi-Fi! Also, the close proximity to 24HR, Chevron, Kozo, Subway, and other Koko Marina shops makes it very convenient.

  • Ian T.

Nice spot - generally quiet but with a full spread of chairs and outlets for work. Definitely has its morning rush but they're fast and well-staffed. Ample covered seating outside is also available for those who'd like to dine and sip al fresco...admittedly facing the parking entry and Chevron station across the way

This is my local store in Hawaii Kai. The staff are always nice and I am definitely a regular there. It's nice when you walk in and they already know what you want! My fav is the vanilla soy latte ... yum!

Nice atmosphere with a blend of Oldies & CW music. Plenty of open tables and outlets a plenty for those who still need to "plug in"

Your typical Starbucks! Parking can be a challenge due to the surrounding shops and gym down the way. Busy location and lots of traffic!

    (3)
  • Dennis W.

Nicely remodeled. Expanded seating area, need to make the table area more individual tables rather than community style, since people then to sit at "front" of the row which makes sitting in the interior area difficult due to spacing and inconsiderate patrons!!

This Starbucks still surprises me, and not in a good way! I walked in add asked for a Venti Dark Roast. I paid for it then they told me that they didn't have any more dark roast. Would I like medium or light roast. I said I wanted a dark roast and the cashier said that they weren't going to make any more, implying it was that time of day. It was 10:30 am? I said I would wait for her to brew it and she then said it would take 15 minutes to brew, again acting as if they didn't want to do it. I informed her that I had never been refused a coffee order at a Starbucks. I asked her do a small brew for me. What looks! I just in amazement that I was apologizing to them for being such a bother. They poured a medium roast and then the cashier said no that I wanted them to brew me a dark roast! Never had to beg for a cup of coffee before.. especially at a Starbucks! They have newly remodeled and it looks nice. I hope they keep it that way!

Atmosphere: bench seats, a couch, coffeetable, and armchairs in the back with a couple more armchairs in the front, about 5 tables with normal chairs in the front too. Tons of outdoor seating as well. While it's decent for studying (there are outlets along the wall for the tables, but only one of the bench seats has an outlet), it gets really cold after a while. Bring a sweater! They also have a bathroom in the back. They also sell starbucks paraphernalia (lots of mugs and cups for sale, and they ALSO have a clearance section, which I particularly enjoy). It's located near Walgreens, Chevron, and 24 hour fitness. SERVICE: The baristas are really nice--they give genuine smiles when you walk in the door! I'm indecisive (and cheap), which can spell death at a place like Starbucks where you have multiple sizes, syrups, milks, whip/no whip, coffee/tea/smoothie/frapp choiceschoicescombinationsofchoicesgaloretimesamillion. I just stand there mesmerized like a deer in the headlights and then usually end up ordering my go to--passionfruit iced tea with raspberry. cheap and tasty, just how I like it. lol Anyway, he was trying to recommend a drink for me based on what I like, which I thought was a nice touch. I like that kind of service, you know? It says, hey, we're not just a big corporation that has stores everywhere you go, we actually want you to enjoy your coffee, so we're going to help you find the drink that says simply: "Jenny". Love it!

I was recently in Oahu for vacation and one of my favorite things about going is that Starbucks has coconut syrup!!! Be still my heart....Anyways, I had gotten a drink from a licensed store (should've known better) and it was TERRIBLE. I hopped into this place and they fixed me right up with a different, delicious drink, no problem and friendly. Just what world class customer service is all about!

  • a p.

Nice Starbucks. The employees talk so loud you know all about them. They were having inappropriate conversations that every guest could hear! The female Manager is not professional at all. She is yelling across the store talking about her personal life. Other than the loud staff, like the place. Cold AC

  • Sam T.

The Baristas handle a large volume of customers with a high degree of professionalism and skill. I have been an irregular customer for years and have always been very impressed by the cohesiveness of their team work as well as their apparent comradery. Earl Grey Tea Latte is always so tastey, and they don't even looked phased despite what a pain in the ass it must be to make. Thanks guys!

Looking for something to give you the extra pep in your step when you are living with your parents in an "transitional" moment of your 30s? Starbucks! Do you have to wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual because traffic from this end of the island is way crazier than where you were living before? Starbucks! Would you like a cheerful smile and people that remember your face, name, and that you like a decaf cafe mocha with skim milk hot with whipped cream? Starbucks! Have you been craving a bowl of real steel cut oatmeal but don't want to take the time to boil it up yourself? Starbucks! What something sweet that will crash your diet or undermine your caloric intake allowance for the day? Starbucks! This particulate Starbucks is great...friendly, quick, and tasty as it should be. But I am spoiled with the Kaneohe drive thru. And that is the only shortcoming of this particular Starbucks. I'm so glad they are here and open so early for my rise and shine moments.

This starbucks is always pretty empty when I go. There is usually ample parking too, so it makes for a quick grab and go starbucks break. Even though there are numerous spaces and the spaces are relatively large, people have tried to crash into my car on more than one occasion. Maybe I'm unlucky or maybe Hawaii Kai is concentrated with bad drivers, but just be careful when you drive through this parking lot. This Starbucks is located near the entrance to the Koko Marina Center. There are a few clothing stores and take out places nearby as well as a theater and other restaurants across the parking lot. This is the only Starbucks east of Kahala mall before you reach enchanted lakes, so it's a wonder it isn't busier. The baristas aren't the friendliest here. They get the job done, but they don't put in the extra effort I've seen at other starbucks locations. They also run out of salads and sandwiches often. There are a few tables and chairs inside as well as seating outside. It definitely makes a nice air conditioned oasis when it's super hot outside.

  • Jenn T.

One of the only starbucks I know of in Hawaii Kai area, located in the Koko Marina shopping center. It's pretty convenient, with a side parking lot nearby since the main parking lot can get really crowded with the theaters, 24hr fitness, and the popular restaurants. It's a decent sized starbucks, lots of tables for sitting, studying. The staff is friendly, fast and has always gotten my drink right. There's also bathrooms for customers inside.

Two people working at 6:30 am really this location is poorly managed. Twelve people in line , took 15 minutes to get a regular coffee

I frequent this Starbucks pretty often and although they constantly mess up my order, I don't really say much until recently. I overheard the batista Chantel say, "All of these drinks and they don't tip?" Well, I apologize if constant makes of my drinks deserve a tip? I always order the same drinks and yet they can't seem to get the order right. Most of the workers have really bad attitudes. Maybe they need to drink more coffee to wake up and be more enthusiastic.

Me:"Can I have a Venti Iced Thai with Soy" Bar: "Venti Iced Chai with Soy" Me: "no, Venti Iced Thai with soy" Bar: **blank stare** "Venti Iced Chai Thai with soy?" Me: *stabbing her with my eyeballs* Venti. Iced,THAI. with Soy repeated myself 5 times with a long ass line of people behind me. Then I get a starbucks text asking if i'd like to leave tip from my Gold card.. we're just g2g ahead and decline this text.

It's always crowded, so expect a wait. But the veterans that work there seem to be customer oriented. Today, a barista jumped in to assist on some guy being totally annoying with his EIGHT drink orders. Then a (I'm not sure what she was) but a Caucasian woman told another person to ring, since the line was getting so long. I wish I got their names because they totally got the line going! Coffee, as always, is what was expected. New renovations are way better in my opinion!

After giving up coffee for about 7 years (by choice), I visited my buddy in Long Beach and he and his family are hardcore coffee addicts. I did my best to handle the wonderful aroma when around them drinking coffee and did very well. But, on one day trip his sister kept on telling me how good this particular roast was and for me to take a sip. I politely declined but they egged me on by saying "It's only a sip." I took a sip and realized how wrong that move was... I do enjoy my coffee and will stop by Starbucks every so often. This past weekend after hiking Koko Head, I was supposed to meet a friend from out-of-town to try CrossFit but had about an hour to kill. So I called a friend who lives in Hawaii Kai to meet up for coffee here. It was my first time at this location and it was your typical Starbucks - - very upbeat and just LOVE the aroma as you walk in. The staff here were in great spirits and greeted us with smiles. It was a muggy morning so I opted for the iced coffee this time and was asked how many squirts of simple syrup I wanted. I didn't know how to answer this question so the staff explained for the venti size it's usually 6 squirts. I like my coffee on the bitter side so I requested for 2. The baristas behind the counter were cranking out the drinks quickly and it didn't take too long to get ours. My drink was great but I'm an extreme person as I like my food and drinks how it should be temperature-wise. I understand that if they put too much ice it'll be watered down so after drinking about 1/2 of my cup I went back up to ask for more ice. The only problem I noticed at this location - - the air conditioning was too high!!! My clothes were still soaking wet from my double Koko Head hike and I was freezing so we sat outside instead. Overall, a decent experience at Starbucks.

No Pike at 7:45 in the morning? Really? Oh well, I guess it was Pikes turn. I see David T. couldn't get his Dark Roast at 10:30am on 9/25. Watch out Blond! You're next! Enough said. Settled for Dark Roast and walked away. First time in my life I have gone into a Starbucks and not been able to get my Grande Pike.

Starbucks in Hawaii is the absolute worst place to have the whole experience of consuming designer coffee. Why? Because they do not have restrooms for their patrons. They will take your hard earned money and allow you to fill your bladder with expensive beverages but they don't have the human decency to provide customers with a lavatory in order to relieve themselves. ARE YOU SERIOUS?

    (2)
  • Erica W.

I go to this location for two reasons: (1) location, and (2) the employees are nice. For the most part the cashiers and baristas know what I am talking about when i order but once in a while I have to explain what I requested.

    (4)
  • Marie F.

Newly renovated! Looks great! They opened up the place by getting rid of the little tables and installed bar deck and stools. It improved the flow of the place. Service is still just okay. Oh, and Pumpkin Spice is back early this year!

    (3)
  • Jessica C.

This is the most ridiculously slow Starbucks I have ever been to in my entire life. Set aside 10-15 minutes to get your drink, even if there are only a couple people ahead of you in line. Terrible.

    (1)
  • Emi H.

Well Starbucks is the same everywhere you go right? WRONG. All Starbucks are not built the same and this Starbucks is very long and narrow. Initially when you walk in this coffee hut looks very small but if you walk past the counter area towards the lone toilet there's a whole area in the back with some nice couches. My BF and I are sipping on his usual SB drink, an iced venti coffee with three pumps of white mocha. It tastes stronger than usual but maybe I'm just not used to Starbucks coffee any longer. Ack! My BF and I are now departing from Starbucks because there is a man here with the worst B.O. and I actually think I just threw up a little in my mouth. It's the kind of B.O. that clings to everything around it, much like the Seinfield episode where Jerry had to get rid of his car because of the B.O. that was attached to it. Does he not realize that he stinks and that he smells really offensive? Is this a cultural thing or is this just rude? A bit of both I believe. Run everyone run! The B.O. is going to disintegrate us and eat us alive! Worse than that. We're all going to have this horrid B.O. stench on us and we'll all turn into nasty B.O. zombies! B.O. everywhere, you won't be able to get away from it and there will be a nuclear holocaust because nations will fear the B.O.! In the end the machines will be the only ones to survive because they have no sense of smell. Starbucks: Please make a no B.O. policy or kick this guy out and I'll be happy to come back in and enjoy your lovely coffee. But will the B.O. still be there when he leave?

This is the Starbucks where I can just spend the day and not be bothered. With my iPhone and charger, I can work all day if I wanted. I am here after a good session at the neighboring 24 Hour Fitness on any given night. This Starbucks is great, since the have comfortable chairs at the window to sit and relax in. I'm glad that they don't tell you to leave when don't buy anything and take up space in the store. Even if I am a Gold Level member, they are appreciative of the fact that I still patronize them when I am just working on my iPhone (and not buying anything). This location is certainly my favorite, but it's farther away than the closest one to my home @ Kahala Mall. Kahala Mall tends to be crowded lately, so I defer to the Hawaii Kai location to suit my needs for quiet and relaxation. Love the ambiance of this location. I normally get a venti coffee or a random frappuchino flavor while working. Sometimes I get a trenta ice coffee sweetened with milk. it all just depends on what my mood is for the day. The parking situation tends to be ok to worse during peak times. I agree that its a typical Starbucks, but it doubles as a library, since its quiet and I need that, when I don't want to do a real library on a given day.

This is a large Starbucks with plenty of seating and a bathroom that all the other stores in Koko Marina send their patrons to (I know, because another store sent me there). Most times the baristas are friendly; one gal was even a super-good salesperson for Via and I thought she should go into sales! But one time a few months ago, I got an iced coffee here and there was a leaf floating in my ice, thus I am eternally suspicious and usually try to go to the Starbucks by Costco, which has better parking anyway. ALSO, no free wi-fi. Well, I guess there is, if you register a Starbucks card prior to going in. Otherwise, you're required to pay about $4 per hour for Wi-Fi. I found this out after ordering and paying for my drink, so I asked for a refund and canceled it because I had to go somewhere else to work.
