I've been here, there, and everywhere! But... Apparently, I still need to discover new places! Those who know me... Know I love everything Acai. Why, I am shocked I've never tried the Red Ginger Acai Bowl! Yes, I'm considered a pretty harsh critic of Acai, but first let's talk lovely Manoa. Red Ginger Health Café (love the earthy name) is located in Manoa Marketplace. Head towards the Long's Drugs side and it is located on the 2nd floor. Directly above the former Milano Freezer (sadly closed). Free parking is plentiful, so luckily this place is located in lovely Manoa. RGH CAFÉ AMBIANCE: Cute and efficient spot. Apparently it's been here for years, but under second owners. Whatever the case... It's clean (almost sterile), cute and efficient. Large "office type" window allows natural sunlight. About six small café tables, each with 2 chairs, scatter throughout the open area. Decor can be best described as "Crate & Barrel". Order bar is straight ahead with menu behind the counter. Asian knickknacks decorate the counter. Neko the cat and friends. Complimentary H2O is near the self serve utensils area. Just be careful as you step onto the natural door-rug as I almost ice-skated across the café floor! GRADE: B RGH CAFÉ GRUB: Healthy type of menu. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, Acai bowls, smoothies and other healthy goodies! Soup of the Day too! Complimentary H2O at counter. I went with my comfort zone: TURKEY CRANBERRY DELIGHT (per Courtney Y.)- Choice of wrap or sandwich. Shredded Turkey, Cheese, Homemade Cranberry, Cream Cheese, Lettuce & Tomato and a ton of Alfalfa Spouts:3 It all mingled well for a simple sandwich. More Cranberry would have been nice. I didn't LOVE it, like Courtney did, but I would definitely grub it in a heartbeat! RED GINGER ACAI BOWL: This surprised me! In a good way! WOW! I've been everywhere for Acai and this one definitely fell in my TOP THREE! Not as incredible as Diamond Head Health Bar, but dang it's a pretty good imitation and even topped with the scarce BEE POLLEN! Organic Granola, Strawberries, Banana Slices, Blueberries, a nice WAD of Acai, and honey. The honey seemed a tad chinch, but this bowl was a pleasant yummy surprise! A WIN! GRADE (SANDWICH): C+ GRADE (ACAI BOWL): A- RGH CAFÉ STAFF: College age group. Cute and earthy. Friendly and efficient. Never felt rushed as the lovely young lady patiently waited on my decision. After I ordered, I took a seat. Young lady pleasantly brought my sandwich over and later my Acai bowl. Both times she was super nice and told me to enjoy it! BONUS POINT for NOT CALLING ME SIR! GRADE: B+ Overall, I had a nice & quiet lunch at Red Ginger Health Café! Tucked away on the second floor of quiet Manoa Marketplace in lovely Manoa! You could say I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't expecting much here. Just remember this is for the health conscience crowd that loves good grub. I think on my next visit I might give a smoothie a try... But for now... I still need to discover NEW places! YELP REVIEW #178

Everyone recommended the turkey cranberry delight. I ate the wrap. Perfect lunch size portion. Fresh. Clean. Flavorful. Delicious. Healthy. Can't ask for anything more! I want to try their other sandwiches but I'm hooked on the turkey cranberry delight.

I used to come to this little cafe very often a couple years ago because it is located right in my beautiful neighborhood of Manoa. However, after they went under new management, I kind of stopped going because part of the reason why I would go there was because of the staff that I had grown to know and love. I just went back a few weeks ago and the food is exactly has it was when I used to go. The Acai bowl is a LITTLE smaller than I remember, but not anything to really complain about, it still isn't the BEST acai bowl in the world. The turkey cranberry wrap is the same, still served with tortilla chips. I tried something new this time, the Fruit Salad. It came with little mandarin oranges, chicken, grapes, and other fruity offerings on top of a bed of lettuce. I got it with papaya seed dressing on the side for dipping purposes. It was really fresh and yummy, a little pricey, but I would get it again if I am not craving a wrap. Space is limited, so try to avoid going during prime time, or get it to go.

**IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HEALTHY PLACE TO EAT, COME HERE NOW!!** Anyone who is anywhere near Manoa needs to go to Red Ginger! I give this place 4 stars for taste and 5 stars for service. It is located upstairs in Manoa Marketplace. Parking is free ane easy! I really wanted an Acai bowl but they just served their last one so I ended up with a veggie smoothie instead (which was pretty yummy). I would have been happy with just the smoothie but the guy behind the counter said he had a tiny bit of Acai left that he wouldn't mind giving me for free. I honestly thought he was just saying that to be nice because by the time my smoothie was ready, no one said anything about the acai bowl. Fast forward to my husband and I almost halfway across the plaza, when a woman points behind us to turn around. The guy behind the counter seriously ran down the stairs and across the plaza just to give me the free acai bowl!!! Didn't even make a big deal about it, just smiled, told us to have a nice day, and went back upstairs. I can't even begin to accurately describe just how touched I was! Places like this will ALWAYS have my business!

Over priced, awkward & unoriginal. Low quality ingredients. could have whipped together a better sandwich at home with week old left overs. The sandwich was sloppy and the chips were from Safeway or Costco. Service was pretty bad. The employees were loudly talking shit on each other...at least put some music on to cover up the terrible ambiance. Smoothie tasted like somebody curb stomped a bunch of strawberry gogurts into a plastic cup. The extra star is for the bowl of free Halloween candy at the front. Skittles were the best part of the meal:)

Kind of inconvenient having to find your way upstairs in a woodsy mini-mall, but those are some good sandwich wraps! Fresh, flavorful and delicious. Chicken salad w/ almonds and grapes. Rich and satisfying but not heavy.

Really, really wanted to like this place after reading some good reviews..and because I'm always on the hunt for new, healthy places to lunch. Unfortunately, it was SO disappointing. Starting with the good- my salad was fresh and it came out quickly. Other diners' meals also seemed fresh. But that's about it. For starters, portions are small. My salad was very small and the ingredients on it were very limited. For example, one of the reasons I chose the salad I did was because it had mandarin oranges. Well, it came out with 3 small orange slices :(. The salad also had chicken, but it turned out to be a very small scoop of cold chicken cubes like you buy from the grocery store. That goes for most all of the ingredients, including the dressing which was obviously store bought because it had that 'chemically' aftertaste. For a hole-in-the-wall place like this that markets itself as fresh and healthy, you'd think they'd be cooking some of their own stuff rather than buying it like everyone else. They don't sell sodas- only juices and water out of a pitcher- no ice unless you ask. Which brings me to the worst part of this place, for me, at least- the service is TERRIBLE. It's a few young girls that never once smile, don't greet anyone coming in the door, barely make eye contact...They don't even say thank you when you bring your dirty dish back to the counter when you're done to save them from having to bus the table you just used! If I were the owner, I'd be doing an attitude adjustment meeting or a quick change of staff. That in itself would make me more inclined to give it another try. But until then, there are SO many better options. Even the salad across the parking lot at Grilt is better in that they at least cook their chicken (it's hot on the salad) and make their own dressings!

The food here is always fresh and healthy, I would come here every day if it weren't for the shoddy service. The staff that work here are rude and standoffish to the point that I only come once in a while.

Yummy yummy acai bowl!!! The texture of this acai smoothie goes down nicely!! Also, a great light lunch spot, if you're feeling like a salad or sandwich. Nice selection of toppings and additions.

One phrase: Cranberry Turkey Delight. Or wait, was it Turkey Cranberry Delight? $7.50 for a pretty scrumptious turkey sandwich composed of a spread of cream cheese with a generous spread of their homemade cranberry sauce, plus alfalfa, carrots, and tomatoes. All on top of pretty healthy looking bread, and I'm feeling like I'm instantly a health-nut... A health nut that happens to love what she's eating! Pair the sandwich (which kind of reminds me of Andy's which is right in Manoa and a walk away from Red Ginger) with what seemed like pita/tortilla chips (I'm no expert) and you've got a fan! This is one of the things I always order here whenever I make my way to Manoa. Another side note, is that although I haven't really recently had their Acai Bowls, it was (when I had it a couple of months ago) pretty darn good! Though my absolute favorite is Blue Hawaii in Ala Moana, this Acai Bowl is a good second place, and it's a lot cheaper, too. With all that Acai Bowl talk, I am craving one. Definitely will hit up Red Ginger again!

I came in here for tea on a cold rainy day. To my surprise, the decor has completely changed...for the better! New owners! Similar menu! They still have the brown rice salad with mozzarella cheese. They still have smoothies. They still have acai bowls. Plus they added breakfast. They took out all the fancy dark furniture and added more seating. Before it was hard if you had a group of friends who wanted to sit and have a cup o joe after yoga class. Best of luck new owners!

Red Ginger has been under new ownership for some time now and I decided to give them another try. The new owner, Scott, is super chill and friendly. His gorgeous girlfriend Jannet works the cash register and is really helpful at helping you decide what to get. They give a 10% discount if you work in Manoa Marketplace. I have to admit I'm still not a fan of salads and sandwiches but Red Ginger has some good options. I like their earth salad because it has a base of brown rice covered with melted mozzerella and the mixed greens, sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions on top. I like it with the balsamic vinaigrette. Another good salad is the Fruit Salad with spring greens, chicken, feta, grapes, green apples, mandarin oranges, almonds and dried cranberries. I really, really love their breakfast omelettes. They are super tasty and healthy. My favorite is the Haillie's scramble (I have it done as an omelette, though) with sundried tomatoes, asparagus, sweet yellow and red bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and cheese. It's a good portion with lots of veggies and perfectly seasoned. They also have coconut french toast and a bunch of other omelettes and breakfast sandwiches. You should try the breakfasts here!

If you enjoy a good sandwich and soup, definitely be sure to visit Red Ginger Cafe in Manoa Marketplace. I had the opportunity to meet a friend there for lunch yesterday. We both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our meals! It was such a cool, mellow place to sit, relax and leisurely enjoy our meal. We each had the soup du jour, which was the Tomato Basil Bisque topped with yummy garlic croutons and mozzarella cheese. We ordered a cup each, but it was so yummy, I ended up having another cup. We shared a chicken salad sandwich - full of grapes and almonds served on soft, wheat bread...this was delish! We also shared the spicy ahi wrap with spicy mayo that was another winner. And...how can I forget the acai bowl! The acai bowl was refreshing and creamy, unlike any acai bowl I've had before. Their acai mix didn't seem as tart as other places I've tried. The owner, Suzette gave us FABULOUS service and was very attentive! A+ for customer service and good, quality food, which is hard to find these days. Hana hou for Red Ginger!

Love this place. Great little spot for some healthy grinds. My favorite is the acai bowl with peanut butter. YUM! Their wraps are also really good. Staff is young, hip, and friendly. Definitely be back again for lunch!

Oh man, how could I not have already reviewed this place when I come here ~3 times a week? Whoops. Let's face it: they've got the best tasting acai bowl in Manoa Valley hands down, and probably within a ~3-mile radius. They have the Manoa Bowl for $7.50, featuring acai with strawberries, banana, granola, and honey; and the Red Ginger Bowl for $8.50, which is the Manoa Bowl + almonds, blueberries, and bee pollen(!). Both are very tasty, but in order to justify visiting as often as I do, I usually go with the Manoa Bowl for breakfast. Occasionally my friend and I'd come here for lunch and split a sandwich + acai. That way, cost and portion can be better justified, and they are so nice they would actually split the food for you if you ask. I also really like the Tomato bisque and Chicken aioli sandwich, though their sandwiches are a bit on the pricey side compared to Andy's nearby. It was a good deal (particularly for loyal customers) when living social had the $5 for $10 coupon, though otherwise I can't justify going "too" often. I also wish they'd have more outlets around so I could enjoy breakfast a little longer while working on my laptop, but it's not technically a coffee shop so that's probably ok. All in all, I'll definitely continue being a frequent customer at the Red Ginger!

I have a friend named Jen who is probably the most healthiest person that I know! She loves to exercise and eat healthy... two things I could definitely learn from her. After months of not seeing each other because of our busy schedules, we finally found some time to grab lunch and catch up. We were both in Manoa and she suggested Red Ginger Health Cafe. I've never eaten at this place before so I was super excited to try it :) This small cafe is located in Manoa Market place on the same side as Longs. When we first walked in, I noticed that there weren't any customers inside. My friend told me don't let that scare you because the food is really good. As we approached the variety of menus on the wall, I was happy to see a wide selection of salads, sandwiches, smoothies and acai bowls. I decided to get the Earth Salad and Jen got the Special House Salad. The weirdest thing was that some of the salads came with a bed of rice with melted mozzarella cheese over it which sat underneath the pile of salad. I was hesitant to try it at first but my friend told me it was delicious. You have a choice of choosing a dressing and we went with balsamic vinegar. The other choices were ranch, caesar and something else that I don't remember. My salad was very fresh and colorful. There were onions, tomatoes, carrots, alfalfa, mushrooms, lots of spinach and of course their special rice. The cost of the salad was about $9 which is a little pricier than what I am used to paying for but the freshness of the ingredients made up for it. After eating a little of the salad, the rice slowly revealed itself and the combination of the salad with the melted cheese tasted really good. It was different so it took me by surprise but I definitely enjoyed it! I really want to come back to try their sandwiches and smoothies. They accept credit cards and cash! Tip: Find the staircase on the left side of the building to get to the 2nd floor where the cafe is located :) 31 Yelps Review Challenge - 3/31

I just stepped foot into this place today hoping for some coffee, but apparently that's not their speciality. LoL. (The lady working was like, if you want coffee, there's Coffee Bean down around the corner...I was like...well, I wanted to come here for coffee...err....LoL.) Anyways, I ended up not getting anything this time around, but I think I'll be back to try an acai bowl or a ice cream sandwich!

I was thinking of a place I could meet my friend for a light lunch, because I had an afternoon meeting and you know what happens when you combine a heavy lunch and an afternoon meeting - kanak attack! Since we were both in the Manoa area, we decided to check out Red Ginger. I was pretty amazed at the decor, or should I say lack of it? The dining area felt so empty. Just a few tables and chairs. But that's a good thing because I would take that over a cramped dining area any day. I ordered an acai bowl and the tomato bisque soup. Sounds like a weird combination, but it was sooo good. The acai bowl satisfied my sweet tooth, and the tomato bisque filled me up. My friend's veggie sandwich looked good - it was filled to the brim with tons of veggies. This is a nice place to go for a relatively healthy meal!

Finally had a chance to go back to my FAVORITE Acai bowl place! My son was so excited to try it!! He also LOVES Acai bowls! I was quite surprised when I walked in and had to WAIT for someone to greet me! The OLD owners were always so FRIENDLY!! I was so stunned when I had to stand there for almost 5 min, practically tapping my keys on the counter!! ( just in case they didn't hear me!) but I'm sure they did , as they saw us entering before she went in the back ! I ordered 2 Acai bowls & proceeded to get my lemon water from the self serve table. The pitcher was empty, so I asked the owner if she could fill it. I was quite disappointed it wasn't cold! I wonder where that water came from? The kitchen pipe? No new ice or fresh lemons added! :( I took a seat and soon after our Acai bowls came out! My Red Ginger bowl was AWESOME!! ( lady in the back came out to apologize they were out of bee pollen) I was ok, just so happy to eat my Acai bowl finally ! Went to get a spoon , bummer! They were out of spoons ! Had to ASK for a spoon! My son was not too thrilled with his Acai ( with protein added) Looked so plain, compared to mines! Plus his bowl melted in less than 5 min !!! He wants to return and eat the Red Ginger bowl!! Although I LOVED my Acai bowl, the 3 stars only because customer service could be a little better! Hope the next visit is better !!

If you are in the mood to be healthy, organic, and granola-like, be sure to check out Red Ginger. It certainly will fit that bill and meet the needs while filling up your belly! Located in Manoa valley, it can be a bit of a trek since it is off the beaten path. It also is located on the second level of the marketplace so it really can be a secret find. However, it is part gift shop, part cafe which makes for an interesting ambiance. That being said, the picnic style tables almost makes it feel like you are eating outdoors at a picnic. The menu is more limited, however healthier fare. So it can be a bit of a challenge for the specific individual. However, their sandwiches, wraps, and salads are all quite lovely and interesting. Nothing truly stood out for me, however what I have ordered, certainly did not disappoint. The service is ok. I didn't think they were anything special, however it certainly didn't disappoint. If you are in a healthier kick, certainly check it out. It certainly was something interesting and different.

This is a great little place to either pick up or have a nice lunch with a friend or family member. The first time I came here, I got the "Pick Me Upper" smoothie (Coffee, frozen hot chocolate, Organic PB, Bananas, Organic soymilk - YUM) and the special salad (brown rice topped with melted mozzarella cheese, organic spring greens, clover sprouts, tomato, cucumber, carrots, sweet onions & grilled portobello mushrooms - OMFGYUM) This place is great if you want something healthy, yet super tasty. The salads seem to have some weird ingredients (brown rice with melted mozzarella cheese - What?!) But it's DELICIOUS. I swear. You won't regret eating here.

First off, I will just say this. Red Ginger has the best açai bowls. There, I said it. I know everyone has their favorites, but I really think Red Ginger competes with the big players, especially for a small shop in the back of Manoa Valley. The other smoothies are also really delicious, too -- I like the Pick-Me-Up, a coffee-and-peanutbutter concoction that wakes you up and delights your tastebuds, too. The grape sloshie is really refreshing, as well. Red Ginger also has some really solid sandwiches and wraps, although I think my personal highlight is the salads. There is a wide selection of different salad types (which are all very customizable) as well as a build-your-own option. The ingredients are always fresh, there is a good selection of options and dressings, and you will come out with a HUGE meal in the end, even if it is veggies. And, of course, they are all quite healthful and full of delicious greenery. I haven't tried many of the newer breakfast options, but what I've tried has also been really awesome, too. I wish I could go back more for breakfast, but I'm rarely available during their breakfast hours :(

Red Ginger is an awesome place for those looking for a quiet place to enjoy a nice healthy meal. Their sandwiches are super ono...I usually get the turkey cranberry delight. The salads are really good too. But what you gotta try are their smoothies! My favorite is the cucumber slushie. I know, it sounds weird, but I'm telling you, if you like cucumbers, you are going to love this smoothie. Its really refreshing. They also have this veggie smoothie that's super ono too. Get choke veggies and fruits inside. It is a small whole in the wall space, so seating can be sometimes a hassle, but with this kind quality food, it's worth it. So go check um out!

I know this place is tucked away on the second floor of the Manoa Marketplace but I can't comment on the ambiance or service of Red Ginger because I didn't personally dine in or pick up food from there. I had a meeting a couple of days ago and the lunch fare was from there so I can only comment on what I had. We actually got to pick what we wanted off of the menu so I eagerly ordered their signature Chicken Salad wrap. It came with almond, grapes, Swiss American cheese, lettuce, tomato, organic carrots, and clover sprouts. The good news is that there was definitely a nice ratio of chicken to veggies. The bad news is that clover sprouts made up half of my veggies and I found out that I am not a big fan of clover sprouts when there's no dressing on them xD. In any case, the chicken salad part was quite tasty and the entire wrap felt very healthy. I wouldn't mind making a trip there to try some of their other wraps/sandwiches, famous tomato soup, and awesome-sounding dessert (I mean, come on--"Tropilicious Haupialani Sorbet"?! How can I not try something with a name like that?)

I got a strawberry banana smoothie and turkey and avocado sandwich and my friend got a wrap, forgot which, but it's one of the worker's favorite. My friend liked her wrap a lot. Then again, she seems to say everything she eats is delicious. Some of the things she eats isn't even good lol. My smoothie was good, could've been better if it was more flavorful. The sandwich was ok. They serve it on wheat bread which is ok but i was expecting it to be a baguette. That bread reminds me of homemade food, which I could've made for a lot cheaper. The avocado was good. The sandwich as a whole was plain. It tasted ok, but too healthy for me because of the bland taste. They put carrots it in which was weird, tomatoes would've tasted better and a lot juicier. I asked my friend to come try it but the name of the place was already a turn off b/c of the word "health." I don't think i'll come back either. Too "organic" for me.

Went back for lunch this weekend had their Yummlicious tomato bisque soup. Wished I got the bowl instead of a measly cup - it's that good. LOL Had the greek salad as well. It was the first time I had their greek salad and it's not a typical greek salad with calamata olives, but it was still delicious. Greek salad comes with warm grilled eggplant. Yum! The only bummers thing was when I went the A/C was broken. It was a little uncomfortably hot. Luckily I was getting take out.

I've only been here for breakfast but it was delicious. They have some tasty scrambles. The SMO scramble which has onions, mushrooms, spinach, and cheese was great. But they do have smoothness, salads, and sandwiches. One of the best things about this place is the customer service. Scotty, who usually works behind the register, is phenomenal. He is really nice and does his best to please the customers.

Decided to revisit and give the place another try since I read it's under new ownership. I stopped in today to find it pleasantly cool inside and surprisingly empty at lunch. The decor is still nice and chic, but the space felt roomier and somehow more welcoming. I think they removed the extraneous bookcases where merchandise used to be sold, which opened up the floor to be more spacious and offer more seating. Good call! Maybe it was the very laid-back counter girl that made a difference too. I got my sandwich to go, but ended up eating there since the vibe seemed way more chill and inviting now. While I was waiting for my sandwich, I relaxed at a table, grabbed a magazine to read (they have a bunch to choose from, which is cool!) and poured myself a cup of water (infused with lemons) from their self-serve pitcher. I decided to try the Turkey Cranberry Delight for $7. After ordering, I started having buyer's remorse since I never usually eat the cranberry that accompanies most turkey meals (what was I thinking?). But I'm so glad I tried the sandwich now. It was so DELICIOUS! And the homemade cranberry sauce is actually what made the sandwich so darn yummy. Wow!!! I'm definitely getting that again next time!! I enjoyed the organic tortilla chips that came with the sandwich, and appreciated the eco-friendly container. I also appreciated that I didn't have to ask for a package for my to-go sandwich. You'd think it'd be a given, but it wasn't before. The sandwich was just the perfect size to me. It didn't seem as 'beefy' as the other turkey sandwiches I tried under the previous management, but it was BETTER (much tastier and not super bland, dry, & stringy!) and just right all around in proportion (meat/condiments/veggies/bread). So good. Even the wheat bread was so soft, fresh, and good. I'm craving the second half right now as I type this (because one half of the sandwich and the chips was enough for me!). Good food, good experience. Glad I stopped in to try this place again. :)

Its a hole in the wall on the second floor. First impression I'm like where is this place then i looked up.. AAAHHHH there it is. on the second level.. now how do i get up?? oooh theres the stairs hidden.. wonderful. When i walked in i expected more then i got. the environment is a little on the dark side very Mediterranean chic.I automatically think health cafe okay theres gonna be variety of healthy like how whole foods have being that its a cafe i think my thinking had thrown me off. There were maybe 7 small tables set for 2 or 3. The ordering system is like a walk up order pay they bring your food out. The menu was very plain written on a board and self explanatory. We had the TURKEY BLT.. it was phenomenal yummy and came with tortilla chips(homemade) the girl said. very tasty and big.. ooohhh ssooo yummmy However i wish i had the Acai bowl but it was a good experience. Parking: mall parking. Bathrooms are down the hall pretty far from the eatery.

Having eaten at Red Ginger for lunch over 5 times now, I have had some good meals. The staff is good, with friendly service. The food usually comes in 10 minutes of ordering, but occasionally up to 20 minutes when crowded. For organic healthy food, the prices are little high, but the portions are good. Their smoothies are yummy and ready for your vegan picky friends. Also a note, a vegan friend of mine mentioned she would love to see they expand their gluten-free menu, as well as eliminate white flour and processed sugars.

I really wanted to like Red Ginger, especially since it seems like they really make an effort to be healthy and "green," but I've tried it twice and just don't get the appeal. The chicken salad in my chicken salad sandwich with almonds and grapes was thin and messy -- it was as if the chicken salad had come from a can and hadn't been drained well. The almonds were factory-cut slivers, so they totally lacked crunch, and you could hardly tell the grapes were there. I also tried the peanut butter/banana/honey smoothie. It was very runny and lacked flavor. Pretty disappointing, especially when you consider that my total came out to over $12. It's really too bad that the food and beverages here are subpar, because the service is excellent. The girl at the counter is always friendly. It's too bad I probably won't be back and can't honestly refer any friends.

Ended up in Manoa because we were trying to find the Crepe place. (Which we found out later is a block down) - I enjoyed the music (they must have changed it since the spa days) - I enjoyed my wrap, could be due to the dipping sauce (Caesar dressing) - The "something" Pick Me Up sounded good...but after asking what was in it, it sounded like a Peanut Butter Moo'd from Jamba Juice. So I passed. - The parfaits looked good & refreshing (happen to see it on another table) however, looks can be deceiving. ha ha! If I was in the area, I might stop by for a quick lunch. The portions seem fitting and more "light" then say, the other places found in the Manoa Market Place (pizza, plate lunch, etc)

I was a lucky kid, I have awesome parents. My dad would make me lunch for school almost everyday. But being a kid, I couldn't stand it when he would put alfalfa sprouts in a sandwich, or mix brown and white rice. Anyone else with me here? Well, things change. Now I love brown rice and handfuls of alfalfa sprouts in my sandwiches if they'll fit. Even if they don't and they're spilling out from the sides. Red Ginger's sandwiches and wraps are packed with fresh veggies and they are generous with the fillings, spicy tuna, pulled turkey (not cold cuts), chicken salad, etc. The food is delicious and consistent, and you actually feel good after eating. What a novel idea! Do you hear that sound? Yeah that would be the sarcasm dripping off the whole "novel idea" thing. In case it wasn't obvious. Build your own salad or go with a hearty "Earth Salad" that sits on a bed of brown rice and melted mozzarella. Or try my (and apparently many peoples) favorite, the chicken salad wrap/sandwich. Best I have ever had. When I want a light and healthy lunch I get a half chicken salad sandwich and a cup of soup. Oh yes, the soups! They only make one kind everyday, but I don't care because each one is a treat. Chicken Mulligatawny, tomato basil, my favorite the carrot mozzarella, or the ever-popular portabello mushroom. I don't even like mushrooms, but I love this soup. I don't do acai bowls but I see a lot of people ordering them. The only downside to Red Ginger for me is their hours, they close at 4pm. After writing this I am craving it--and they're closed. Bah! It has a very light and serene atmosphere. It's always clean and cool inside. Sure, you gotta walk up some stairs to get there, or take the elevator that's a ways off. But hey if you're health conscious enough to eat here, I best not hear you complain about a few extra steps. Or are you that guy or gal that orders a diet coke with your Big Mac? Mmhmm.

If you're looking for something deep fried, battered, or smothered in nacho cheese, this is not the place for you. Red Ginger specializes in healthy sandwiches, wraps & salads. Here's a few examples of the items on their menu: turkey cranberry delight, the ultimate veggie, grilled garlic portabello wrap, earth salad...you get the picture. I met a girlfriend at Manoa Marketplace while she was on her lunch break & she suggested this cute, little spot. I ordered the turkey & green apple sandwich, minus the clover sprouts (barf). The turkey was of the shredded Thanksgiving variety, not the processed, slimy cold cut kind. The crunch of the crisp green apple added great texture & a hint of sweetness. Healthy & granola-y, yes; tasteless & cardboard like, no. Who said eating on the lighter side had to be boring & mundane? Tons of parking, they have highchairs (a plus for any mommy), & friendly service. I'll definitely visit Red Ginger again the next time I'm in Manoa & feeling like having a meal that won't give me a muffin top.

Yum! Awesome wraps, smoothies and salads. I especially love the Cobb Salad, which is a generous helping of fresh greens, crisp bacon, a hard boiled egg, cheese and half an avocado with your choice of dressing. For $9, I consider this a good value. The staff was super friendly and the food was made in about 5 minutes. The cafe wasn't too crowded when I went, so I was able to grab a table and enjoy my meal very efficiently. I'm definitely going to be back. It's a great spot to enjoy a tasty, healthy and reasonably priced meal. The free post-meal mints are a nice touch, too. Keep up the good work, Red Ginger!

I eat here for lunch pretty often before work, and it's amazing! The acai bowls are the best I've had, with acai, granola, almonds, honey, and fruits of your choice. I get it with strawberries and bananas :) I also get the turkey avocado wrap which is super yummy as well! perfect if you're in the mood for something healthy. Staff is always super nice and welcoming. Downside, they close around 3PM. I wish they were open later!

One of my favorite places to eat! Everything is always fresh and delicious. The menu is a good range of healthy sandwiches and wraps to build-your-own salads to smoothies. If I'm ever in a sour mood or just need a sweet treat I love the peanut butter and banana smoothie. As far as sandwiches go, my favorite is the turkey and cranberry and the spicey tuna wrap. The staff is also very nice and friendly. Yumm!

Came here on a rainy day and had a sandwich and salad with a friend. We shared the Cobb which was delicious. We also shared turkey avocado which came with our choice of cream cheese or mayo. Delicious food. They have aqai bowls and smoothies as well. Delish!! Try it!!

Red Ginger Cafe has my ideal lunch menu: salads, sandwiches, soup, and wraps. Lots of fresh and healthy options that won't weigh you down! The turkey cranberry sandwich has probably been my favorite so far (real turkey--none of that processed deli crap!), but there are a ton of menu items I am yet to try. Their salads are big and delicious, and if you don't like one of their specialties, you can create your own from a long list of ingredients. Their breakfast menu also looks awesome and I can't wait to try one of their omelets (granted I'm ever awake and out the door before 10:30!). I do think this place is a tad overpriced, considering their vicinity to Andy's. However, if they were next to Bogart's, they'd be dead on, so I guess its all in how you look at it... It is tucked away upstairs in Manoa Marketplace, and I only wish I'd found it sooner! Red Ginger Cafe is definitely worth a try for a yummy lunch that you won't feel bad about after!

This is a nice place for lunch if you're ever in Manoa. It's located in Manoa Marketplace, upstairs of Bank of Hawaii. I came here around noon with my work supervisor and was lucky to get a table, since there are only a few tables inside. Just had the turkey cranberry sandwich for lunch. It came with fresh pulled turkey, cranberry sauce, cream cheese (yum!), sprouts, and tomato. It was pretty tasty, but not worth the price. I also had a cup of the tomato basil bisque which was also very good. They had a special coupon where you can get a free passion fruit iced tea with purchase of a sandwich or salad. I really liked the iced tea...didn't need any sweetener. The sandwich and cup of soup came out to about $9.50. My supervisor got a make-your-own salad, but he said that I got the better value. Portion-wise, $7.50 seemed pricey for a salad. I would come back here for the iced tea and maybe to try the chicken salad sandwich. The people working at Red Ginger were very friendly, and I appreciate any cafe with a kind staff.

Got the chicken salad wrap and peanut butter and banana smoothie for about $12. The chicken salad wrap was pretty good, but not worth the price. I did not care for the smoothie as it was served warm and in a small covered cup. It was also expensive and not worth the hefty price. I can't really justify going here when Andy's is right next door. I would probably try here again if they were to lower the prices. The high prices do not match up with what you get.

I would've gave them 3 stars for being just okay but after reading all these fake reviews, I will no longer patronize this place. Olivia is right, I can make better smoothies at home. Now that I have my vita mix. Go to Costco, they have a deal on them.

One of my favorite place to go for a healthy lunch wrap. My personal favorite is the turkey apple with cream cheese. The staff is also super friendly. To avoid the crowd go a little before the lunch hr or after it. The closing times also vary depending on how busy they are but it usually closes around 3:30-4.

This place was suggested to me about a year ago from one of my friends and fellow yelpers... And since the first time i tried it i have to say i would totally trust anything she suggests! This place is a winner! Ok so ive heard about all the different lists for "Hawaiis BEST Acai Bowl" and ive even tried most places on those lists. But I have to say that personally my favorite Acai Bowl is from here! Something about those almonds and organic honey that just put the "icing on the cake" to their smooth frozen acai... Eat in or to go ill take it either way! They also make great salads! Well... its a sort of create-your-own but they have wonderful ingredients and everything is always super fresh! Organic mix with chicken, feta cheese, sundried tomatoes, sprouts and onions... Ohhhhhhh sooooooo good! Ive tried their home made soups a coupe times before and they do a great job with that too! Also try their smoothies... Every time Im in Manoa, if ive already eaten, i at least run in there for a PB & Banana one! Its not too thick and what i love is it tastes exactly the same every time!

Went here for lunch. They are known for their turkey and chicken salad sandwiches. I had half a turkey cranberry with portabello soup. Very good. sandwich was on wheat bread with bits of rye and seeds in it and had sprouts and carrots as well! The soup was very creamy and had nice big chunks of the mushrooms in it. Very boutique feeling, they had designer and green books you could purchase and was very clean and simple. We came from a hike so I felt slightly underdressed, but they didn't seem to mind too much. They were nice, but not friendly if you get my meaning. They also had smoothies to try, maybe end up going back for one of those!

I'm not too fond of healthy food but since I was recently diagnosed with Diabetes I try to make the effort. I was in the area and ate their once and enjoyed myself so I decided to go back and try something new. The last time I ordered the Spicy Ahi wrap which was good so this time I decided to try the Turkey Avocado sandwich. I was reluctant to eat the brussle sprouts but did anyways and to my surprize it was very subtle and complimented the sandwich very well (If there were more I would probably feel otherwise). My girlfriend and I split an acai bowl which was great and the female working the counter gave us a free shot of some type of peanut butter pick me upper which was pretty good too. I would have to say that this place is suprizingly good. Healthy food that taste good......weird. I'll be back to check out what else they can surprize me with next.

Amazingly tasty salads for lunch. I'd recommend the salads in place of the wraps or sandwiches which can run a bit dry. The salads are a boost of energy and healthy, leafy, green things. And red. And yellow.

I am giving Red Ginger 5 stars for the chicken salad wrap. Oh My Goodness... the BEST chicken salad wrap I've ever had! It was sooo yummy. My boyfriend and I went there and split the chicken salad wrap and the vegetarian wrap. He ate his half of the chicken wrap while I ate my half of the vegetarian wrap. As soon as he was done, he was already trying to get me to give him my half of the chicken... of course I did not allow this, because obviously it was really good. I usually like unique chicken salads like curry chicken salad or ones with more unique ingredients.. this one seems like a basic chicken salad but it is soooo delicious. I seriously think about it often, but I am rarely in Manoa and I think they're closed at night... The vegetarian wrap was good too, but just a basic veggie wrap. There's only so much you can do with veggies! My tip: Do not share the chicken salad wrap... you just may regret it.

So I've been here twice already, first time I had called in a take out order of their turkey avocado sandwich and a cup of their soup ($2 when you order a sand or salad) of the day (cream of portabello mushroom). You get a choice of mayo or cream cheese on the sandwich, and I requested "light mayo". The sandwich was pretty dry - maybe cause i got light mayo, but it was still good! It's stuffed w/lots of veggies and it's real shredded turkey. The cup of soup was really, a cup of soup. maybe less than your basic coffee cup, but it was very good! Today was the 2nd time I ordered from here and the "earth salad" really intrigued me. It's described as brown rice w/mozzarella cheese melted on top w/all your basic salad greens on top of all of that! You also get your choice of dressing, I just asked the girl what she suggests, and she said the vinaigrette is good for that salad, so that's what I got! This salad, was soooo freakin' good! It might sound weird, but everything goes so well in that box! There's other items that I would like to try, like the spicy ahi wrap, but at $9.50, I had to ask my co-worker if it was worth it. She said it's good except that they make the hot sauce separate - so you have to dip it or spread it on yourself and that it's not really worth the $9.50 price tag! The space is quite small, when it's full - you'll probably bump in to someone in there, and I always get this weird vibe when I go in there for some reason. But the girl behind the counter has always been very nice to me :) I will go back and try other things, but I know that the earth salad will always be my go-to meal from there!

I work nearby in Manoa and have eaten here probably 50 times. One of the few healthy places, high quality food places in Manoa to get lunch. I am a very big eater and this is one of the few places I can get a ful,l healthy meal. I particularly like the chose my own salad or a sandwich with a cup of soup and fruit cup. They also have a high chair so I sometimes bring my 1 year old here on the weekend and it is one of the few places she doesn't get bored. Staff is very nice too.

I bought a living social deal and I went to the location three times only to find out they were unexpectedly closed during their normal business hours. Highly recommend you call before you go. I got my living social deal refunded because it was too much of a challenge to use it.

Just discovered this place in Manoa Marketplace and been back three more times with friends! My friends like it, too. Great, fresh food, nice atmosphere, in spite of being a storefront restaurant where you order at the counter. Personable and efficient staff. Haven't gotten past the turkey wraps and sandwiches, which are always overstuffed with real turkey, as opposed to pressed lunch meat/deli roll turkey. On the other hand, the baked nacho chips that come with sandwiches are dry and could use salsa, dip, or something to perk up the flavor. Not sure what else was in the Tropical Itch smoothie, but there was a powdery feel in with all the fruits. Skip the Coldfrye ice cream cookie sandwiches which had an "icebox" taste to them. In spite of the above comments on the side dishes, those turkey sandwiches eclipse the deficiencies. I'll keep going back for them. If I can break the turkey habit, might try their salads. You can even build your own. If they expanded the menu a bit, would consider five stars, as long as the excellent quality is maintained.

I had their daily special. chicken salad and salad? whatever it was the chicken salad was delicious.. as soon as i tasted it i felt like martha stewart made it. that kinda vibe throughout the whole place. i ate in the restaurant, wish they would change the spa music. it was KILLING me. Does anyone know the hours for this place? it's been closed over five times i checked. Why did this place open up right after i moved from manoa?? typical. at least i have another place to eat besides andy's! (though andy's is still my fav).

Looking for something light and fresh then this is the place to go. Its hidden on the second floor in Manoa Marketplace. They have soups, salads, sandwiches and smoothies. I had the soup of the day which was a tomato bisque. The soup was really good. Creamy and flavorful. The croutons were real good as it was crunchy and seasoned well. A good pairing with the soup. There was a decent amount of cheese in the soup, it was a little too much for me. But for those who like cheesy things, they soup would be heaven. I also had the Red ginger salad and added some roasted turkey on top of it. The salad is light and fresh, with a lot of veggies to top it. There was cucumbers, carrots, sprouts, avocado, and turkey on top the mixed green. The dressing was a balsamic dressing that was rather tasty. We got the ice tea and it was slightly flavored with a passion flavor i think. It was freshing and worked well with the lunch. After our meal the worker gave us some berry smoothy, and it was really good. Not too sweet and was nice and thick. I am not sure which one it was but if I return back it is something that i would definitely order again.

Amazing breakfast! I got the Turkey Bacon sandwich and my husband got the Coconut French Toast and everything was very fresh and flavorful. These dishes alone are enough to hook me, but the real star of the morning was the Strawberry-Banana smoothie, the best I've ever had.

Red Ginger was OK. It feels like a clothing store/living room turned cozy coffee shop. They have some environmentally friendly nick nacks you can purchase and a lunch menu that caters to the Organic crowd. We tried- Peanut butter and banana toast - basic but good Cheese pretzel - overcooked, too hard Caesar salad - Classic caesar, tasted great, only problem, I don't think this was organic Coffee - Good Kona coffee and they kept refilling! and bought some shopping bags - 3 nice shopping bags that fold into a small pocket Would I return here, yes but it's not high on my list. It was good, I just don't know what I'd get next time, and for me Manoa isn't exactly convenient.

I've been dying to find a good health food place so when I saw a deal on groupon for this place I bought it instantly. I went with 2 of my friends and when we walked in one really greeted us so we didnt know if we were supposed to go up to the counter to order or sit on a table and wait for someone to serve us? We ended up going to the counter. I was going to order a turkey sandwhich but they were all out of turkey so my only other option was chicken. So I went for it. I also decided to try one of thier smoothies. All of the tables were taken except for one. But there was dishes all over it from the last guests. No one cleaned it off for a good 10 minutes and we felt weird standing around in the small restraunt so we decided to just sit down at the table and clean it off ourselves. After we were pretty much done cleaning it someone came out and grabbed all the plates. I was the first to order and got my food and smoothie last. A guy brought it out to me and he was the only one that had good customer service and was friendly. not sure if that was the owner??? Sandwhich was pretty good! I like how they shredded the chicken and it came with chips. very healthy tasting and filling. Smoothie kinda tasted more like a shake though. Id go back only for the food.

Come here if you want something fresh and healthy. I love that they use different veggies like lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, and alfalfa which create lots of crunchy, crispy texture and then they use use hummus or cream cheese which adds a nice creamy texture. Great place! Super nice and friendly people! I like the turkey, cranberry delight :) Yum!

I've heard so much about the Acai Bowls at Red Ginger Cafe in Manoa, I just HAD to try it! I also ate the turkey with cranberries sandwich! yummy!! it was so HUGE I had to take half back to my office, which I graciously shared with a co-worker. the BEST part was the ACAI Bowl!! OMG!! one bite... I was in ACAI HEAVEN!! I have been craving it ever since! I'm dragging the whole office down there next time! thank Red Ginger for your delicious HEALTHY foods that you serve!

I decided to check out Red Ginger Cafe today because I noticed their gigantic banner in Manoa Marketplace and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere of the restaurant. The interior is very home-y feeling, and overall I really liked the vibe that the restaurant provided. Now on to the good stuff... I'd like to preface my review by saying that I am not particularly fond of healthy, organic, etc... types of food. I love fast food, greasy fried foods, and everything that is bad for me. With that in mind, I ordered the spicy ahi wrap, with sprouts on the side (I despise sprouts, but thought they might add to the flavor of the wrap). After I was done ordering, I asked the hostess/server/waitress/cashier/lady about some other options on the menu, including their Acai bowl. She was friendly, helpful, and overall really represented the restaurant well. The spicy ahi wrap was really, really good. Basically, it's spicy tuna salad, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots in a tortilla wrap. The flavor wasn't overpowering, and everything went well together. While it was a tad bit pricey ($9), I didn't mind because everything tasted really fresh. I mentioned to my friend that I went to RGC for lunch, and he said that their Acai bowl (cup?) is amazing, so next time I stop by I'm definitely trying it. As a side note, I always try to frequent local business, especially in Manoa. Everyone in Manoa (and around the island) should try to support these small business, especially during tough economic times! Rating: 4/5 Pros: Good, HEALTHY food, nice people, great ambiance. Cons: A little pricey, but understandable as they try to provide fresh and environmentally conscious products. Also, for those not familiar with Manoa Marketplace, the second floor is somewhat hard to find.

This place has perfectly acceptable, if slightly expensive, wraps ($7-9). The selection is pretty standard wrap shop fare, which is actually a teensy bit rare around here. There are sprouts, if you are into that sort of thing (which I am). Also, to-go containers are made out of the lovely biodegradable substance which on top of being good for the planet is also microwave safe.

Red Ginger is a hidden gem. Although the seating is very limited, it is a nice and cozy and decently decorated cafe serving simple food like sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads and smoothies. Personally, I always go there for a wrap which always comes with corn chips. The only reason why I don't rate it 5/5 is the service. More smiles and customer service training would do it.

  • LesliAnn K.

What pushed Red Ginger over the edge to 4/5? Its clean, its quiet, they use fresh, organic ingredients, they are eco-friendly, and they promote local products that are on display throughout the cafe. The atmosphere is the kind where you feel like you can hang out, read magazines, and eat a light, refreshing lunch. Its on the second floor so its somewhat sheltered from a lot of foot traffic passing by. Been here several times. Highlights include turkey cranberry wraps, salad specials with papaya seed dressing (mozzarella and brown rice is a pleasantly surprising combo), portabello mushroom soup, and COLDFYYRE all natural ICE CREAM sandwiches. I tried the all natural, no preservatives mint chocolate ice cream, and that stuff is AMAZING! its so manoa chic.

I work nearby, so I eat here somewhat regularly. The price is a bit high, but the food is really worth it. I usually have their fruit salad, ahi wrap, or a pick-me-up smoothie (really quite good for a bit of caffeine in the morning or late afternoon). The staff is very nice, and they usually get food out within 10 minutes.

I was surprised when I met a friend for lunch at Red Ginger. Has this place always been here? It's so hidden...and so healthy... It's nice that there's a couple of veggie-conscious alternatives in Manoa now. I had a house special salad which had organic greens, tangerines, tofu, tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers, melted mozzarella, brown rice, and a whole lot more. It was about $10 (yikes!), but at least it was huge. It was pretty great. I just wish that Red Ginger had existed back in my pizza (college) days.

hmmm.... By reading some of these reviews, it seems to me that if you are young, immature, only want to eat unhealthy food, complainer, arrogant, small minded person, then this place is not for you. Red Ginger is a place for those who want to eat healthy, sit down and read a quiet book, receive excellent service, and create a great atmosphere by having positive energy themselves. I have always loved their selection and they also give generous portions. If you are going to be negative....go to Mcdonalds.

After seeing the lack of stars for this place, I just had to write a review. I absolutely LOVE this place! They make the best acai bowls in Hawaii and whenever I get it, it never disappoints. What makes it quality are the fresh ingredients they use, plus the high quality granola and honey that makes it extra special. This is my go-to acai bowl place whenever I'm home (I live in LA now and I get major cravings for this that I have to go at least like 5 times whenever I'm home)!

i remember this place had so much buzz when it first opened on yelp. i finally decided to give it a try today since i was super curious... cute interior. i like that they use biodegradable containers. i ordered the cranberry turkey wrap. it was kinda small for the price. i liked the turkey, cranberry sauce, and the lettuce. everything else that came with it didn't quite work taste-wise. tomatoes, sprouts, carrots, cream cheese, and cheese. i'm just not a big fan of sprouts and i got tired of the flavors pretty quickly. the wrap also came with organic tortilla chips. like olivia d. mentioned, "good concept, bad execution." i would come back to try something else like the spicy ahi sandwich/wrap. their coldfrye ice cream thingies looked really good but i have no idea how much they cost since it wasn't on their menu.

This is a great little place! Although kinda hard to find--being on the second floor of Manoa Marketplace--it is definitely worth seeking out if you are in the mood for a yummy lunch. They have a good selection of sandwiches, soups, and smoothies, and often have specials of the day. The ladies who work (and I presume own) the place are very sweet and you can tell they enjoy what they do. I only come every once awhile (due mostly to their limited hours, kind of a bummer) but when I do eat here they normally remember me and take the time to say hi.

Went there for the first time recently. It is clean, the music was playing at a nice level (you could carry on a conversation), and the staff was friendly. I had a turkey wrap, which was good. My wife had the veggie wrap, which she said was so-so. The chips on the side were salty. Price is a bit high, but not that bad. Overall I like it, but it's not first on my list of places to revisit.

I wanted to try this place because it was highly recommended by someone. This person suggested the wraps and the pick me upper were her favorite. She just loves this place, so I decided to give it a try. I got the ahi wrap and pick me upper. The ahi wrap was just ok, but the chips that came with the wrap was good. I also, got the pick me upper and it was too sweet and thick. A few months later, I decided to give this place another try. I got the chicken salad wrap and it was good. Although, it had mayonnaise it still felt healthy and price for the wrap was very reasonable. I would go back for the chicken wrap and the chips.

My favorite spot in Manoa!..The acai parfait with fruit is amazing, better than Mocha Java or places I've tried on the north shore..The granola is homeade and fresh..and the Acai is very creamy and cold..I always top mine with strawberries and blueberries...Also, the chicken salad sandwhich is great!..everything is super fresh..and the two ladies that own this place really care about making delicious and healthy food...YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ACAI!

This is definitely a health bar-- I lost three pounds in one day! FROM ENDLESS CRAP EXPLODING FROM MY BUTT. My friend had heard good things about it so we went and although the salads/wraps did sound really yummy we were all really thirsty so us three had an acai bowl, a tropical smoothie, and what I had: The Pick Me Upper smoothie. The smoothie was a risk being that it was chocolate, banana, and peanut butter but it sounded so yummy at the time! The workers were very unfriendly and the service was terrible-- the three things took FOREVER. Not to mention the prices were pretty high for what it was. The acai was very disappointing: the hard icy kind that doesn't seem real. The tropical smoothie was very yogurty and gross. My chocolate smoothie tasted kinda weird but it was okay in the beginning so I drank about 3/4 before I started to feel really sick and disgusting and threw it away. And then it was like I had taken 20 laxatives and felt nauseous the rest of the day. Don't go.

Oh Yummie! I love this place...i order there turkey avacado wrap with the spicy dip and finish off with an acai bowl and leave there as happy as can be. Everything is so yummy, fresh, and healthy...the acai bowl here..with the combination of organic granola, almonds, bananas, strawberries on top drizzled with just the right amount of honey...once a wk atleast since we have to drive into Manoa but well worth the effort.

Red Ginger is one of my new favorite places to go with friends! It's a perfect new eatery! I love the food! the smoothies, the soup and salads are all tasty. Only complaints are the decor, and the lack of outdoor seating. I'd love to hear some soft music outside on the patio, the place is too cold from air conditioning! But I think everyone should support new local healthy cute cafes! We need more here like this! Only other real critic is that they close at 5 pm! I wish they stayed open for dinner!

I was in Manoa recently and stopped by the Red Ginger Cafe. I had the chicken salad with grapes sandwich. The sandwich came on wheat with tortilla chips. The taste of the sandwich was very good, had a large portion of chicken salad seasoned just right. The cheese and vegetables fully complimented the sandwich. The service was fast and the staff were very friendly and had the nicest smiles. I will be back again.

To be honest, I think the food is just OK. But my girlfriend LOVES the place. She goes at least once a week and orders different things. But her favorite is the Acai bowl. It's huge, lots of great granola. The service is great and the people who run the place are as nice as can be. If you like healthy food, it's worth a try!

Stopped by for a quick snack after my daughter finished school. Ordered an acai bowl (I think it was about $7.50 or so) to split with her. It was very delicious (mostly bananas on top, not many strawberries). It was a nice light and refreshing snack to tide us over until dinner. The young girl helping was so cute and polite (not sure if she's the owner's daughter)? Her customer service skills were far beyond most adults! Water with lemon is self service on their counter as well as utensils. Located in Manoa Marketplace, there is ample parking. Park close to the right side of Longs and go up the stairwell between Longs and the building to the right of Longs. It's just a few doors down when you get upstairs. Can't wait to try their smoothie with coffee and peanut butter in it!

Over priced smoothie, slow service! Lunch break and I want a smoothie... Since Manoa has no Jamba Juice I decided to try out Red Ginger since I've heard good stuff about it. It's $5 for a smoothie, which is pretty steep but I was like whatever it sounds good, and I'll support a local business. What a mistake!!! Not only did it take a long time to get it (they even had to ask what I ordered because they forgot), it tastes TERRIBLE. I can taste that it's made from the frozen bag of fruits from Costco, and they wanna charge me $5 for it! There's nothing special about it, hell Starbucks makes a better smoothie and it tastes fresher! I'm writing this review, as I have to force myself to drink it because I don't want to waste it. Save your money and don't make the same mistake I did.

Please learn some customer service and at least figure it out. If a customer calls to place an order and "suddenly" you're out please do not wait until the customer comes in to pick up their order after 20 minutes. Have the initiative to contact me back or at least make the effort to try to tell me you have something else all ready. People get busy and even hungry the last thing you want is a hungry customer just wanting to pick up their order. Have a little empathy to those who come in and pay you to help your business thrive. It's too bad that's no longer your priority. I've experienced this not once, not twice but this is strike three. I thought hey it's a new place give them a chance... So much for that. Never returning.

I was very skeptical of the $8.50 Acai bowl, but I really wanted one so I got the Red Ginger Bowl, and it was definitely worth it! The pretty presentation, slivered almonds, and tons of granola, make this so tasty! Usually they're really stingy on all the add ons, but not this place. I also got the Red Ginger sandwich which was $10.00, and so yummy! Definitely going to come back.

Not too little, not too much, just right. I love my grease like the next guy, you can tell by my reviews, right? But sometimes you want something lighter, sometimes you want something more nutritious, you know, less "stick-to-your-gut vittles." But does "healthy" have to taste bland or only like Subway? Of course not. This has been proven many a time and Red Ginger is no exception. Met a good friend for lunch at Manoa Market Place and because I got there early I checked my trusty Yelp phone app. and perused the nearby offerings. There were the usual suspects but then Red Ginger popped up. I went to take a look and this what I found: Red Ginger is located on the second floor of the building that has Longs Drugs as the anchor ( the other main bldg has Safeway and is only one story). There is a pretty good size banner sign hanging from the second floor proclaiming it's existence but it is still pretty easy to miss. Touting itself as being a healthier alternative to some others in the shopping center, Red Ginger offers soup, sandwiches, acai bowls, salads and smoothies as primary offerings. Since neither of us had tried Red Ginger we decided to come here for lunch. The interior is clean and does not have a large seating area but is pleasing to the eye and not sterile, very inviting. There are outside common tables as alternative seating if they are full. The staff is very pleasant and will go over the offerings and choices with you as there are quite a few choices including vegan options. My friend had the Red Ginger Sandwich which consisted of shredded roast turkey with avocado, grilled portobello, romaine lettuce, shredded carrots, clover sprouts, tomato, Swiss cheese, mayo and papaya seed dressing. ($10.00) I had the turkey avocado which also came with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, carrots, sprouts and either cream cheese (which is what I took), mayo or hummus. ($7.50) The sandwiches came on conventional type bread slices and were filled with just enough turkey filling and supporting items to make it a nice size offering. They do not fill it with so much stuff that it explodes off your plate, just the right amount. The dressings are not slathered on too heavily either to make a soggy mess, not too much, not too little, just right, and all sandwiches include organic corn chips. The taste is reminiscent of what you could get at say, a Down to Earth, and it turned out to be a very satisfying meal. The sandwiches had just the right amount of each ingredients to strike a nice balance of flavor and quantity to satisfy most eaters. We finished by splitting a Valentine special acai bowl ($8.50) which tasted fresh and delicious and contained acai, peanut butter, granola, strawberry, apple banana, chocolate drizzle and chips- anything with chocolate and peanut butter is great. We both enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back again.

The Red Ginger Acai bowl is actually pretty good, especially considering the price ($8.50). I love that they include new pollen and shaved almonds

Yum! The red ginger special was a delicious and definitely made my lunch great! My only regret is that I wasn't able to try a smoothie!

This little gem is located on upstairs of the Manoa Marketplace. Bf and I were craving for something nice and cold, and heard that this would be the perfect place for some healthy, refreshing acai! A huge parking lot, so parking is guaranteed. It's pretty chilly in there, so it's a perfect place to be on a typical hot day in Hawaii :) We ordered the regular Hawaiian acai bowl. The acai was perfect. Very smooth and not overwhelming. However, once the top layer with honey is eaten, the rest of the acai is quite flavourless. There were tons of a bananas and a few strawberries, so you never have to worry about the uneven fruit-to-acai ratio~ There isn't really a service. It's just order from the counter. The lady just plopped our bowl on the table and left without a word. Great place to go for acai, give it a try!

Red ginger has taken new ownership since the end of last year. It used to be one of my favorite places in Manoa. Lately I felt like everything about the place seemed off and tasteless. I had no idea and wondered why the tomato basil soup tasted different and the salads and the sandwiches seems a little different as well. The tomato basil soup is no longer creamy and flavorful but watery, oily and salty. It used to be the BEST tomato basil I have ever had. I was so disappointed the soup did not taste like it used to... The amount of avocados in turkey avo wrap has significantly decreased. A couple months ago, they forgot to put avocado in my turkey avo wrap. Special daily salads do not taste like it used to be. It went from 8 to 4. Their salads used to be really filling to a point where I can't even move and would put me to sleep but the new salad barely filled me up and I was still hungry and had to finish the soup I had. They don't give enough rice and mozzarella in their salads anymore. The rice was rather cold and hard. Before the new owner, the rice would still be warm underneath the salad and cheese. I am rather apprehensive to get anything else on the menu for a fear that it won't taste as good as it used to be. I've been coming here for many years and everything seemed to be consistent until now. I'm so sad the old owner sold his place but hope that they can try to improve on some things I have mentioned... I have to give 3 stars for great friendly service though.

Turkey avocado sandwich with hummus. Omg amazing. The corn chips they usually have was like kinda weird. Like the Costco brand big bag of tortilla chips. Lol. But this time they had blue corn chips so it tasted better. I think if they're gunna use corn chips they should give some kind of dip or something. But I love red ginger and so does my sister

Went here today for lunch. I ate the turkey avo sandwich with mayo. Bf ate the chicken salad wrap. We shared the earth salad. The earth salad has brown rice, melted mozzarella, greens, organic tomatoes, cucumber, tomatoes and sprouts. Dressing was papaya seed. The salad was awesome. Everything was fresh. Will definitely go again.

Instantly calming and peaceful atmosphere. Clean and spacious cafe with expansive menu of smoothies, sandwiches, soups, salads, and acai bowls. Very healthy servings of veggies, fresh bread, and spreads in the sandwiches that also come with a handful of organic chips to snack on. The veggie sandwich I got could either come with a cream cheese spread or a hummus spread. I got the hummus and it was delicious but I can imagine the cream cheese spread also being a good pairing with the fresh veggies and sprouts. The side of chips was nice to include as well. Priced at $6, this is definitely a very affordable sandwich shop! Manoa is so lucky to have such affordable sandwich shops, with Red Ginger and Andy's both being great choices in this area. In Kaimuki where I live, the sandwiches will run you upwards of $8 without any sides at all. Boo!!! I will make any excuse to venture into Manoa to get a sandwich now! I also got a peanut butter, banana, and honey smoothie that I thoroughly enjoyed. The service was one of the fastest I've had and the employees were friendly and helpful. Super happy to have found this little spot and will definitely be back for more!

We need more restaurants offering ORGANIC, LOCAL choices and Red Ginger Health Cafe is helping to fill that need! Tucked upstairs at Manoa Marketplace (above Manapua Factory and Subway, around the corner from Longs and Safeway). I just took my grandparents there for lunch after hearing my hubby rave about the food. We all loved it! Grandpa REALLY enjoyed his turkey cranberry cream cheese sandwich and grandma and I loved our turkey blt. We also shared a Manoa Bowl Acai bowl and it was perfect - not too sweet! Met the woman who is taking over as new owner and she is very friendly, helpful, and professional. I hope more people discover this gem!

Red Ginger Atmosphere/Service/Parking Red Ginger is a small little restaurant in Manoa Marketplace. I actually never been here even though I've lived in Manoa area for years. There is ample parking except during the lunch rush which can make the parking lot quite busy. This is mainly a lunch place as it closes by four and it's not open on Sundays which is a pretty big negative. Food I came to Red Ginger as I heard the Acai bowls here were really good. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed and that they were only "okay". They gave a big portion of it, there were a couple of pieces that were still frozen and really couldn't bite into. Didn't have much of a taste compared to the ones at Jewel or Juice or Diamond Head Health Bar. I didn't try any of their food, but based on what I saw I would probably just go to Andy's across the street to grab a sandwich. Price Pretty standard price for an Acai bowl. They did give more than say Blue Hawaii in Ala Moana for the same price, but again, there just wasn't as much of a taste. Overall I wasn't very impressed with this Acai bowl, but because I live pretty close to here I would come back to give it another shot. Hoping that the Acai was just a little over frozen that day...I still feel Jewel or Juice is has the best Acai on the island!

I had the Red Ginger Sandwich and Red Ginger House Salad, with a bite of the Dorothy. For the health conscious luncher, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is fun and a good size space for smaller groups. All the ingredients were noticeably fresh in appearance and taste. The red ginger house salad was the size of plate, with plenty of avocado, sprouts, and other veggies included. The papaya seed dressing went very well it too. The red ginger house sandwich was excellent as well, with a hefty portion turkey on top. Served with a side of tortilla chips, I really enjoyed the entire meal at a very reasonable price for the high quality organic produce.

The Acai Bowls at Red Ginger are GOLD. The granola is the perfect texture and the acai is not too bitter and just the right sweetness. The portobello sandwich is also amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and the establishment itself is very nicely arranged. Kristen, one of the employees, is one of the best workers there. She is hardworking, polite, and provides excellent customer service. She always has a smile on her face and is great help when navigating the menu. Great place!

I ordered a veggie sandwich with avocado, which was fresh and delicious. I like having the option of hummus or cream cheese rather than mayo. My mother can sometimes be difficult to please, but she definitely enjoyed the turkey cranberry sandwich with cream cheese. We also had a Manoa acai bowl. The thicker consistency of the acai was perfect. The portion is generous and the price isn't too bad ($7.50). The walls are painted with an original bamboo theme, giving it a calm atmosphere. It was rather quiet with no music; a small speaker and Pandora subscription would give the overall experience a boost. We'll definitely be back for some takeout!

Wow just got 3 wraps from here, and we really enjoyed it! I ordered the turkey cran delight wrap and the chicken salad wrap while my boyfriend decided to got the BLT wrap. Each wrap had a unique flavor profile, and I was blown away at how HUGE the wraps were, I mean FINALLY a place that makes wraps that will actually fill you up, they give you soooooo much meat. The turkey cran wrap is your quintessential take on Thanksgiving dinner, and man with the cream cheese enveloping the entire surface of that wrap,it just had a flavor that was rich and decadent, but light and refreshing thanks to the homemade jam that they executed very well. The BLT wrap and chicken salad wraps were really good as well. Loads of bacon flavor in the wrap and the celery that they put in the chicken wrap compliments the creaminess of the mayo. The chips were delicious; nutty, not overly salted, addictively good. I couldn't give this place 5 stars because the portabello mushroom soup was not very good. It had no cream, just water and mushrooms, and just wasn't worth what we paid for.

This place is great! I came in with several of my workers and Tai was very accommodating and patient! She helped us put together some tables so we could sit together & explained the menu to us. The food is great & reasonably priced. The smoothies are awesome & it's awesome that they use haupia sorbet. Definitely going back here!

This place reminded me a little of Kissaten because of the ambience. It was a cute little cafe located on the second floor in the manoa marketplace. I ordered the turkey cranberry delight sandwich and it was delicious. The cranberry sauce & the cream cheese made a good combination. I loved how it was so refreshing but tasty. My friend ordered the veggie sandwich & that was good as well. I took a bite & I loved the onions included in them. This is definitely a hidden gem in the manoa marketplace. I've been trying to eat healthy so this is an excellent alternative ^^

The new owner Tai is amazing. It started to get busy while I had my meeting. I had the chicken avovado with portabella mushroom sandwhich and my co worker had an acai bowl. Red Ginger Cafe is located on the second floor at Manoa Market Place.

When I was a child, I used to wish that I could become invisible so that no one could see me and I would sneak up to them. Or sneak into stores or movie theaters and enjoy my solitude. Now I found the perfect place to realize my fantasy! Enter Red Ginger Health Café! I walked in this afternoon wanting to try this place since fellow yelpers had a good meal. Entering, no hello......no acknowledgment and I'm standing 3 feet in front of them at the ordering station. Waiting..........waiting.........waiting. One of their friends comes in a few minutes later and they say "hi, how are you?" to her and start to chit chat . Then from behind me, I hear a voice from one of the 3 customers sitting at the tables. "Excuse me.......is my order coming soon?" I turn around and I know the person. I ask her how's the food and such. One of the staff says that they forgot her order. Really? Only 3 people in the café and you forgot? So I go back to the station and the 2 guys are doing this, doing that, and not even looking at me. My cloaking device is really working today!! yahoo!!! Then the 2 staff members walk back into the kitchen. I turn to my friend and say, "I guess they don't want my business" and I walked out. The food might be good but service really is non-existent. I don't waste my time at places that are not customer friendly. My friend is probably still there, waiting for her order...........

My husband said this place was good, but after we ordered the salad and two turkey sandwiches, we learned that it wasn't that good... We got our order to go and found that the salad had old spoiled lettuce. I decided to pick out the disgusting pieces and try to salvage the rest. Bad idea. After consuming that and the sandwich I felt horrible all day and night. The sandwiches tasted okay...bottom line... Never going back.

Chicken salad wrap, yum! Turkey Avocado sandwich, delish! Both come with chips, could have used a dipper for the chips, but loved the Sprouts loaded on both. The owner is a young couple, the female is going to school for Business and his is her first business venture. I would recommend peeling the skin off the lemon before putting it into the water pitcher, other than that good menu variety, could be a better location, plenty of parking & love the healthy choices . They are moving to a new location soon, be advised.

I know I'm being difficult and I will probably write an update (when I have a better experience), but my co-workers decided to give Red Ginger a chance. We saw the sign outside posted the soup of the day was Cream of Portobello. Anything with mushroom anything calls my name, so I thought, why not and suggested it to my co-workers. So you can guess exactly what I wanted....I ordered a cup of the soup and a turkey avocado wrap. My co-workers ordered a caesar salad and a cobb salad. We paid and took our seats.... About five minutes later, the cashier tells my co-worker, "We're out of caesar dressing." Hmm, well, isn't a caesar salad without caesar salad dressing simply just a salad? To top things off, a few minutes later she walks up to us again, "Yeah, um, we actually don't have Cream of Portobello soup today." (Grr...I thought, "Then maybe you should scratch that off your sign outside....and maybe know what's going on ten minutes ago!" I know, I know, calm down.) Anyway, the food was just ok, nothing worthy of a 5-star review. Maybe I'm an Andy's snob, so be it. And anyway it's only a hop, skip, and a jump away. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed because I chose Red Ginger as an option because I had been wanting to give it a try. Maybe next time, Red Ginger...

Wonderful acai and great food! This little cafe is my go-to if I'm in the Manoa area. Their sandwiches are delicious, packed with fresh veggies, and are not too filling, which leaves room for dessert! Their acai is one of my favorites on the island, especially their Red Ginger Bowl (which has bee pollen and almonds for an extra crunch). Their acai is perfectly sweetened, and it's big enough to share (if, for some crazy reason, you'd want to do that).

Love this place. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, great menu, and the food is always fresh. For the quality of the for they provide I'm surprised it is so affordable too. Definitely not a dollar menu kind of place, but well worth every penny.

Update: been here twice since my original review for acai both times... Not as good. Diamond head is still the winner! Acai is very icey here. Tastes like their freezer is set too cold

Red Ginger is a gem tucked away on the 2nd floor of Manoa Marketplace, above Milano Freezer. So you have to work a bit to get there, but it's totally worth it! They have a few tables in a small, classy interior, but you can also take out, which I think is what most people do. Truthfully, the five stars are mostly for one menu item which I nearly always get: the Candy Apple Salad. One of the best salads I've ever found, anywhere. Warm grilled portobello mushroom slices, candied walnuts, feta, green apple slices... SO GOOD! They also serve other salads (you can build your own) as well as some tasty wraps and sandwiches. They source a lot of ingredients locally. Winner!
