Last week I was jonesing for some Korean, so somehow we found ourselves in the ward center area for lunch.......and Pearl's Korean BBQ was the place to be for our lunch break. Yeah, make know mistake about this...........this is definately "Korean fast food".........not fancy expensive Korean food like at Budnamujip! But what can I say about this place.........you get the food fast, it's fairly cheap, and it really fills you up, as the portions are real generous! Also, Korean food (depending on what you pick) can be healthier for you, than eating a greasy hamburger, or a fatty oily slice of pizza. The one thing that I like when ordering Korean fast food is the - BBQ chicken (and I'm pretty consistent about that). I just love Pearl's BBQ chicken, as they do a pretty good job with the marinade on their chicken...........it kinda reminds me of Peppa's Korean BBQ too, as they have a great marinade too. For my lunch I picked the mini BBQ Chicken plate, which came with one scope of brown rice, two selections of sides (I picked Kim Chee & Broccoli). My co-workers picked a Korean soup dish called "Yook Gae Jang", and it came with your choice of starch (brown or white rice) & 4 sides. Restaurant is clean...........there is no wait service (this is fast food), you order food, then pickup your food when they call your number, then find a table to sit down to eat. Parking is plentiful, there is lots of free parking in the private garage parking. Stop by if you're in the Ward Center area...........a great location to eat & shop!

My parents and I were on the hunt to find a different restaurant before we gave up and ended up here. Luckily, it turned out to be a pretty good experience. I had the spicy garlic chicken entree (it's fried, BTW), which came with 4 sides. The chicken was pretty good but nothing outstanding, and the sides I chose were all pretty bland (but that's been my experience with all fast-food Korean joints in Hawaii so far). My parents ordered the spicy bbq pork and the bibim gook soo (spicy noodles). The bibim gook soo was surprisingly delicious--they definitely got the sauce right! The portions are very generous here and the space is very clean. I'd say once they get their sides right, Pearl's would be a pretty fantastic place!

Our group of 8 each ordered Bobas of different flavors. What's really funny is ,that we all stated; it's was the WORST Boba ,we've tried. The ice was still in chunks;about the size of a dime. The flavoring was very weak and virtually tasteless.Normally, we would bring it to the managers attention. However, there was still a late lunch crowd and we didn't want to scare away their customers. **** I hope their meals are better than their Bobas ***

The fish jun was excellent, light and fluffy, with the right balance of egg batter and fish. Unfortunately, it's downhill from there. It's the worst sides that we ever had. Bean sprouts, cabbage, broccoli and Korean version of choi sum was completely flavorless. No salt or sesame oil used at all. Chop chae was way over flavored. Potato was ok. At least they have the buy one get one plate at 50 off coupon. You will need it, plates are way over priced @ $10 and over per plate. Service is good and place is clean. Portions are generous.

Very good choice selection of combos to choose from. .I really liked the lady who was really nice and helpful especially when I knew what I wanted to order and she was on it. She asked me any veggies? I love the shoyu potatoes and I got it 4xs and their food is broke da mouth! If you are in the Ward area before the movies, then you'll love the generous servings and u will be full after..and for brown rice lovers, they don't charge for brown rice since it is better than white rice. Enjoy

As the rating goes, I have most def. experienced better. Customer service is nice of course. The food? ehh not so much. I ordered the Bi Bim Bap, the amount that was given was VERY generous, but everything lacked in flavor. This place looks exactly like Yummys Korean BBQ but even that place is better, the Kimchi wasn't also all that great. Sad life. We DID however, enjoy the milk tea boba! I think that was the best thing they had there, but nothing great that stood out or even the menu is almost exactly the same as Yummys.. That is all, if you want real Korean BBQ might as well go to Sikdorak!

Just got here to Honolulu enjoying the sites and we wanted to find a place to eat and decided to stop here. Just picked a place. And after dining on authentic Korean foods by way of actually having been to Korea, this place falls short. I get it, you will almost never have food as good as it is from its place of origin, but I've had food closer to authentic Korean but I was not impressed. I ordered the Bi bim bop. First off, it was served in a party style styrofoam container as opposed to the stone bowls most other Korean Places serve theirs in. This seems to be a chain restaurant, highly advise if you are looking for better tasting Korean food, go some place else. I am not a fan of chain restaurants.

Came in and the place was very clean which is always a plus. Service was friendly, the food came out in a good time, and the meat jun was pretty tasty. Will be back.

This Pearls location is very clean and the service is good. The lady that helped was very polite and she was wiping tables in between. She probably works often because she recognized frequent customers . We ordered a Pearl's Special and a mini chicken katsu. Food was tasty and fresh, including the sides! I'm not a fan of many restaurant's macaroni salad, this one was eh, alright.

There are not many places that get this but this location deserves it. The help there is great and friendly and the food quality is better than Yummys, Peppas or other places similar to this. The food tastes great. It is not salty or loaded with MSG which it seems that previous posters are used to. Eat healthier delicious food and eat it here.

had the Hot Kook Soo, tasty broth made to order and served hot! $8.79 the BBQ chicken and the spicy pork good, the regular plate offers 4 side dishes, $10.49 ea. portions are generous. Kim chee didn't have the sauce soaked in enough, kinda bland. Bak Choy ok, could use a bit more seasoning, seaweed tasty, if you order the tofu, you get only 3 pieces. Two could share a Regular plate if you're not a big eater. Clean, not too crowded for a Saturday night. Fast service.

Rarely do I ever post on Yelp however I could not locate an office number for the Pearls Korean BBQ restaurant at Ward Centre and I hope the owners review the Yelp comments. 2 stars instead of 3 due to the explanation below: We have eaten at Pearl's Korean BBQ countless times especially at Kahala Mall when we lived in the area. Overall the food is okay but a little on the pricier side. Last night we did a take out order and one of my vege choices was the Tofu. When we reached home I ate only one of the Tofu pieces and it tasted sour so I asked my wife. She agreed that it was sour and probably spoiled. Sure enough later in the evening I had the runs and my stomach was queasy. Pearls Korean BBQ at Ward - please be careful on your food handling.

Somehow I end up being in the ward area way too much now and everytime I'm around here I get the feeling like there's nothing to eat around here! you know how that is, even though there are lots of restaurants around. well, i look into the ocean and i their grand opening banner caught my eye! then my korean cravings started coming out. So I went into their clean new store and ordered the #1 kalbi. my choices were bean sprouts, potato, tofu, and mac salad. can't forget the mac salad!! anyway, my kalbi came out sooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice and juicy!!!! the size of the kalbis was not skimpy kind so that made me happy. I'm definitely going back the next time I'm in that area.

I flew in from LA for a work trip and stopped here for lunch. I ordered the combination bbq chicken and kalbi ribs with four vegetables (kimchi, pickled cucumbers, glass noodles and wilted green spinach dish). I took a bite when the meat and rice were hot - so much better than eating both cold. The bbq chicken was super flavorful and the kalbi was tender, absolutely tender! The service here is fast and they're friendly. The only thing I didn't like were the pickled cucumbers - I felt they lacked flavor. Overall, it was good. I will return for the kalbi, kimchee and cold glass noodles!
