Nothing special maybe, 2 & 1/2 stars. It's just a place to get a quick plate lunch, etc. I like the fact they are open 24 hours that is always a big plus. Other than that this place is just OK, I really don't know what else to say other than their Chicken Katsu sauce is really good; it is different than the others you will find, yum...

Ooooooooooh Lord in Heaven please keep me from returning to that horrid restaurant.. or Drive in... fudge it! ughhh it's sh*t! Let's start off with the ambience. The place is basically a dump, the tables aren't clean, kinda sticky I might add. Sanitation wise I wouldn't let my children even touch the tables. Yuck! The Prices are way too crazy. We paid almost $10 for garlic shrimp which only came with 6 pieces. Are you cereal!? With that kind of prices might as well just buy a fridgen boat, catch the shrimp, grow the garlic, and cook the thing at home. We ate the Mochiko chicken as well, which you know most of the time food-goers know it's a gamble when buying because it's never the same. Well the stars must not have been in line for me today cause mine was mostly burnt, skin, and fat.... ughhh!!!! #FML! Will never go there again, will never recommend anyone there, and may Jesus Christ teach them how to cook... Amen. Lord have mercy

Was hungry for chicken Tonkatsu and I remember that Diners was one of the places to go before. I guess not anymore. The chicken was okay but it's just bare bones tonkatsu, rice and Mac. Not a sprig of vegetation of any kind. I appreciate more now when a restaurant will add some parsley to make the dish look more appetizing. The Mac salad was good but the rice was kind of mushy. The price was good at $8.95. But I don't think I'll come back here for tonkatsu plates anymore.

The Kimchee fried rice is Terrible. It was super soggy like it was jus soaked in a bottle of kimchee then served. Their pork adobo was soo dry i had to order side gravy to eat it with. Very disappointed. Dont deserve stars from my experience. but gave it one only so to finish posting this.

The only reason why I came here because it opens late and I was hungry and on my way back to home. I ordered the meatloaf and waited less than 5 minutes to get it. The cashier was nice. I'm a meatloaf lover! And the meatloaf I had was not so great. It tasted like hamburger steak and beef stew. I mean it taste good and all but after 2 bites It started to taste weird so I threw away. It was about $8 something. It's also open 24/7

If I could I would give no stars DANGER!!! Don't eat here their fried chicken tasted so old and the mochiko chicken has a small piece chicken and a lot of fat and flour

The food has significantly dropped in quality. Hamburger curry was sour, shoyu short ribs was dry and salty. Cabbage pork had no cabbage, Lau Lau was sloppy. I don't know what happened, but twice in a row this place has gave us a bad experience. And last time they even made mistake in both plates. We will not be visiting this place anymore, another disgrace to food in Honolulu.

Mahi plate inadvertently bought by a new Yelper. I scolded him. He gave the plate away. Third party ate it and said, "Bleck" as in Dr. Seuss's Bartholemew and the Oo-bleck! There isn't an item here you could pay me to eat. Greasy, grisly, burnt, dry , sloppy, wet, stink. And no, that's not my dog Ima talkin' bout.

This place is just wrong on so many levels. The location is seedy which is appropriate considering the establishment is just plain old moilepu. Went there for lunch. What a disappointment. some people claim it is the down-home local atmosphere that they like. And I suppose that is true, if you are used to frequenting some River Street fishmarket on a hot summer day. All the food that I saw served during lunch made me lose my appetite. Should I try the salmonella salad or the ptomaine potatoes? The portions range from generous to chintzy, but more the latter. The entire experience made me want to shower when I got back to work. I'm sure this place has its fans, but I'm not one of them. I'm just glad I'm current on my shots. If this is the new diners drive-in I cannot imagine what the old diners drive-in was like. Sheesh! After reading my review I decided to downgrade to one star.

Havent been here in ages... Food used to be good with big portion. New owner i believe... So much choices scattered everywhere. Very dirty and ghetto. I know im not at a 5 star restuarant but dead flies on the table i was sitting on. Not acceptable. The customer infront of me found hair in his food after taking a few bites. Owner assumed he was trying to get a free meal and gave him a mini instead. That showed me how cheap they were. I get my food....really? I paid 9 dollars for this? Food tasted like garbage. I threw it away. Plate lunch was so small... They are trying to cut corners to make more money. I honestly dont even think a 5 yeard old kid will get full from this plate. Never going back even if it was the last place to eat on earth. I took a few bites and now my stomach feels funny... F this place... If you wanna enjoy a plate lunch place around here id suggest riches or bobs bbq.

Found this place on a random step when I was going to Toshi's Delicatessen on Thursday morning. I got off da bus on Kokea and North King Street, and walked to Toshi's. There was a bit of a line and over looked on what they had in the window. It was kind of slim pickings that day and I didn't know if I had enough cash on me, just in case I were to overkill on food stuff. So, I left Toshi's and walked along North King Street trying to find breakfast before going to work on North School Street. I found New Diner's Drive In across the street. I checked in on Yelp and proceeded to check things out. This place is basically your quintessential L&L meets Zippy's in the heart of Kalihi. Of course, Zippy's is nearby somewhere, but I didn't want to go to Zippy's. I learned quickly that this place is 24 hours, so that was pretty awesome, but according to a couple of reviews, it gets a bit crazy when you come at odd hours of the night. I'm glad I was just here for breakfast at 7:30am, and not wandering around at 2am in search of a bar to drink at. With that said, this place has a wide sampling of foods from breakfast and lunch you can think of. There is local comfort food, as well as some filipino and some Korean food here as well. I just went with the bruddah moco. Here's where the story gets interesting. I only had $7 with me and the total came out to be $7.02 with tax. I scrambled around my pockets, but I didn't have 2 cents and it was cash only. I then tried to change it to the regular loco moco, but the cashier was cool enough to give me the bruddah moco. I have always wanted to try the loco moco, but with corned beef hash. That combination was basically well worth the trip down here. While the taste was ok, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Probably the corned beef hash was probably from the canned, so it's not made fresh, and you know you can taste fresh corned beef from canned anyway. I thought the food came out quicker than most, so I go the food order and left, but only to find out that I grabbed the wrong one! ha ha. I was so embarrassed, that one of the ladies waiting for her own order yelled at me to come back. What a morning it started out to be! So, I returned and this dude came out from the other side of the building and he wasn't mad that I took his food. It was a simple mistake and I was just flustered with embarrassment. It happens, I guess. I didn't think it would come out that fast anyway, but it was a life lesson well learned. Whoops. There is limited parking here so your best bet would be to park on the side streets or in front of the restaurant. It shouldn't be that crowded, depending on when you go there. It was a breakfast order for me, but the portions didn't really justify the $7 I ponied up for. I guess they are somewhat like Zippy's, where they have to increase their prices to justify their 24 hour existence. Maybe, maybe not, but that's my own theory anyway. Overall, this place is pretty good, but I probably won't come back, unless it's necessary. Good comfort food, but probably not worth the money, depending on the portions they give. May need to come back and see how much they give for the regular plate lunches... Loco Moco! B-

Yelp Challenge 365 # 109/365 All I wanted was a late lunch burger (mahi burger) and an order of fried saimin for mom. THAT'S ALL I WANTED. $12 and 30 minutes later, my order comes through. I can live with the $12 but 30 minutes? I mean!!! Sheesh! Maybe they had to go to catch the mahimahi. The worst part was the food was NOT WORTH THE WAIT. The mahi filet was small and fried some time earlier. It was cold and oily. The fried noodles were exactly that=fried noodles sprinkled with green onion garnish. I asked the gal if they forgot anything on the fried noodles and she said "Nope! If you want more, then order the combo next time and we will add BBQ on top". Does that mean the fried saimin combo will be garnished with green onions and BBQ? I should learn! Never try anything new unless you are in the mood for adventure. Well- I was in the area, my mom and I were hungry and New Diner's was the closest stop. I did however get to read their entire menu and look at the menued photos plastered all over the glass windows which have not been cleaned in ...ummm.... 2 decades maybe... And, they are open 24/7 or so the sign says. I guess that's a good thing but they definitely need to shape up on the timing of things and the quality of their food.

I remember back in the 70's, when we were living in Kalihi, we used to get dinner here when mom didn't feel like cooking. My favorite back then was the teri-beef plate. They soon expanded and in their hay-days, they had locations in Pearl City,(by Safeway) Keeaumoku (around where Mc Donald's is now) Waipahu (east end) and the current location near the intersection of N.King and Houghtailing. If I'm not mistaken, they are the creators of the now-local-favorite, Chicken Katsu. I don't recall seeing chicken katsu on any menu anywhere, until around high school time. I remember my friend telling me: "You gotta try this new stuff! It's like tonkatsu, except it's chicken!!" I especially liked the sweet and tangy sauce... I might be wrong, but the chicken katsu's instant hit might have been the key for them to have expanded so quickly... Fast-forward to today: The original owner has long passed, and the establishment changed hands. Same ono plate lunches at reasonable prices, same chicken katsu with their sweet, tangy sauce. But now, they're a little more culturally diverse....They have Meat Jun, Chicken Adobo, Teriyaki Beef all on the same menu! You can even make your own mixed plate combination. So if you have a craving for something, but you're not quite sure if it's a Filipino, Japanese or Korean thing, the New Diner's Drive In might be the place you're looking for! Can't go wrong with a Meat Jun & Chicken Katsu combo with Large Lilikoi drink...

  • Nathan N.

It's open 24 hours for the Kalihi bar scene. This place just plain sucks. Last night I paid $10 for a tiny mixed plate with Meat Jun and Pork Cutlet. First of all the price was ridiculous for the amount and quality of food. The pork cutlet was the roast pork dipped in batter and flash fried. Macaroni salad was okay. Only saving grace - the meat jun was very tasty. That kinda makes me wonder if they used MSG. Am I going back again? Not in this lifetime.

After a long morning of house hunting, my boyfriend and I stopped at New Diner's Drive In for lunch. The menu was varied and included local dishes as well as some Filipino and Korean food. We ended up ordering mini plates of shoyu chicken and mochiko chicken. The food came out quickly and filled our hungry appetite but was quite pricey.

I've been meaning to try this place for quite some time now and I finally got my chance when a nearby okazuya was already closed at 1030a. I like that theres a lot of parking and esp right in front of the place too. But I know that area gets super busy during lunch and its hard to find parking cause thats what happened to me when I went to try it for the first time but no luck with parking. They haven an extensive menu board with the usual "local kine grinds" such as loco moco, chicken katsu, and so forth, but they also have filipino, korean, american, and japanese dishes. However, its very hard to see the menu as its behind the counter; which is behind glass windows that have so much paper stuck on it displaying pictures of their dishes and their specials and other advertisements. So, being that I was a newbie, I had to shift from place to place to look at the menu, trying to find the right spot between papers so that I could choose some thing to eat. Everything sounded good so that made it even harder to decide. There was only a couple other people there waiting for their order, and they seemed like regulars so they were watching me and probably thinking, must be new haha. Anyway, I finally decided to get the special which was their "special shoyu chicken" since I was craving for that for awhile and it was only $4.99+tax so cant be that! The wait wasnt too bad but while waiting I noticed that they have an okazuya in the room on the right and I was like whaa!? thats what I wanted lol, oh well, at least next time I know ;) It came with 3 thigh pieces and the chicken was tender and very flavorful and I liked that they had a choice between toss salad or mac. Will def be back to try out more things, esp since the price to quantity ratio is pretty darn good.

I was out late partying on Saturday night. I was looking for a place to eat at 4:00 in the morning. I assumed there was an indoor dining area, but we ended up eating outside, I eat kim chee fried rice. It was really tasty and spicy. They used sour kim chee and butter, which I like very much.

I like the fact this place is open 24 hours. If you get tired of zippys and want some good local food, good sized portions and good prices, this is a good alternative. Although they're located in kalihi, not a bad location, at least for me. Wish they had a little cleaner dining area, but you can't have everything!

  • Momo N.

I was excited when i decided to check out new diner. They had an extensive menu and was open 24/7 (finally something other than zippys!) Not knowing what to choose i got 2 mixes plates so I could sample 4 items. I got meat jun and wing dings and pork cutlet and teri chicken. All in all it was pretty mediocre. The meat jun was very powdery. The batter just didn't mix well and the sauce did not match. The Wing dings were par, but there wasn't a lot of it. The pork cutlet was a bit tough and the gravy didn't have enough flavor. Unfortunately zippys is a better choice, but at least have another choice for 24/7 plate lunch munchies!

Holy cow! This diner has the biggest selection of food I've ever seen. And it's open 24 hours! To the right is an okazuya. On the left is takeout sushi. Walk up to the counter in the middle and you can order anything from burgers and fries to all kinds of plate lunch, breakfast, Korean and Filipino foods, Hawaiian plate, sandwiches, and soups. They even do catering. I only found this place one day when I was driving around town with an inexplicable craving for greasy meat on rice with brown gravy all over it. I found it that day at New Diner's: a roast pork special. It wasn't the best tasting pork, but it did fulfill my craving and the portion was so huge, I actually made two meals out of it.

This is located next to diners drive in (same owner) where the little bento and delicatessen was . They recently opened up and offer ice cream, yogurt, bubble drinks, shave ice, acai bowls and waffle sandwiches. They have plain and blackberry fat free yogurt and vanilla and chocolate ice cream. They have 8 flavors of bubble drinks and 23 syrup choices for your shave ice. Right now theyre running a special when you purchase a bubble drink you get a free waffle sandwich. My daughter rated this place with 4 stars. I give it a 3 because of the limited variety but overall its good.

Been going here all my life and its ok. I prefer other drive ins like L&L and Loco Moco drive in. But this place is close to the basketball courts i go to and since gas is expensive i go to this place. I tried pretty much everything and really liked the bbq teriyaki chicken, hibachi chicken, and Hamburgers. I tried the loco moco and its just ok. Being a hard core loco moco boy I can make a better home made one. The burgers that they use are of low quality and taste like the burger from a double cheese burger from mcdonalds. It pales in comparison against zippys and L&L. The chicken dishes are my favorite and they give you a lot for the money. Its also pretty healthy since they serve salad and brown rice. Diners have a few good dishes but also a lot of bad ones too. GO for the chicken and you wont be dissapointed. And plus they are open 24hrs. THREE BIG STARS.

what: a rustic drive-inn that makes you feel old school :) something good: it's convenient since you drive up, order and then go! there is a huge selection of food: breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks! and a variety of types of food to choose from: hawaiian, bbq, local plate lunches and more!! something not so good: the food is okay, it's more the character of the place that makes it special :) something to try: spam and egg sandwich & french fries

Just for the fact its 24/7 and I am a new fan of there Spicey Chicken and Corn Chowder. They have a enourmous menu, for all type of cravings at any hours. That is once you can get past the photos of food placed all over the window. The counter lady was very polite and the kitchen was quick at getting the food out. As for the area, it's okay. The local population are polite sometimes a bit strange but it ads to your free entertainment while you eat.

This is mainly for the Okazu ya, as I have a review for the drive in somewhere around here. It rocks. They have a huge selection and awesome cone sushi. The hours are different from the drive - in portion, but they are open early morning. Perfect place to stop before work or a trip to the beach to stock up on lunch type items. Of course, you might as well pick up some saimin at the drive-in for that stuffy head of yours... and maybe a tuna melt for afterwards, I mean siamin isn't all that filling, right? * Wait staff: Friendly older ladies that give you what you ask for * Drinks: Okazu ya and typical plate lunch faire * Parking: A small lot out front, more if you dirve around the side * Dress: I think they might serve a naked person.

Visited twice and food was good both times. This is my favorite drive-in among those I have tried. Barbecue pork over rice and beef over rice were filling and a good value. Cashier was pleasant to me and food did not take long to prepare. Also like their 24/7 hours. Afterward, had ice cream next door. Place is also under name New Diner. Ice cream cone was nice to have in the heat of the day. Just raised price to $2.00 for a cone. Next time I am in Honolulu, will return to this place.

I really like the azuki bean waffles! This is where they used to have the little okazuya off to the side of diners. They also have acai bowls, and cups, bubble drinks and shave ice.

Big selections of sloppy food for the late nighter. I remember coming to this diner when I would get off the plane when I was visiting from the mainland. I love red-eyes, which leaves me at a disadvantage as far as plate lunches go. Rather than going to the default, which usually is Zippy's, I would come and grab something at this place. The food is nothing great, just quick junk food. The selection is large; a bonus when considering that they are open 24 hours. The food is nothing over decent, but I do enjoy coming here for a change from heading to the local Zippy's for local food. I personally think that the Bruddah Moco (Corn Beef and Eggs) is one of my favorites to order. Mediocre local food that serves as an alternative to Zippy's.

Well Today was my First time eating here and because it was morning I went with their Breakfast Hot Cakes & it was Ok, i wish i wouldve ordered something else though because their Hot Cakes weren't all that. But i ate and it was ok. Next time I'll try something else! Like their BBQ Chicken maybe. Does anyone know if they're Chicken Katsu Sauce is like the one from L&L or is it the generic one??

This place is open 24 hours, so after a long night of drinking, you can come here for a late night or early morning snack. It's not the best plate lunch, but it's not the worst either. They have a few tables, but if you go at 3:00am I would recommend take-out unless you're packing some heat. I do like their luncheon meat and fried egg sandwich. Yes, luncheon meat, the other canned spam.

The mochiko chicken was nasty. Batter was gummy and thick. Also, there was a strong ginger flavor. Hawaiian plate looked good, but the lau lau was greasy and tasted like dish soap. Kalua pig had too much liquid smoke. The lomi lomi salmon was good. The tonkatsu plate was delicious. Needed more katsu sauce, but other than that, an excellent choice.

jus be aware when going there late night. lol. interesting people. my favs here are the mochiko chicken or adobo. dinners is not as good as I remember. It is however a great alternative to eating Zippy's or McDonalds late night. Because they (Diners) are also 24hours. Remember its a diner.. so food is going to take a little longer than expected. worth the wait. an service is a cashier. Who happens to deal with lots of drunks an weird people.

I have actually never went to this place for about a few years even though I live a couple blocks away. However, I decided to go there to get some food one night. Oh boy, it sucked. I was a little skeptical of eating here since the tables outside the place were dirty and the place was not exactly well lit. I did not bother to read yelp reviews before I actually went to this place because I already had low marks for it anyways, since anywhere that is 24 hours usually lack quality as the night goes on. I took sometime to decide what I wanted to get, but the cashier that was working seemed a little annoyed that I was taking my time ordering my food. She did not say anything to me, but she did stare at me with an intense look the whole time I was looking at the menu. I finally decided what I wanted and ordered the mochico chicken. It took only about 10 minutes for me to get what I ordered, which is pretty good for a restaurant. I started biting into my food and then I started to notice that the chicken was extremely greasy. It also tasted like they just microwaved the chicken and refried them. I could not eat anymore of it after a few bites and ended up throwing away the rest. I felt sick after eating the chicken because it was so grease. I would not recommend coming here again.

Ok, let's get this out of the way, I used to go to Diners back in the day but swore I would never go again. It was that bad. So why today? I was on the road and needed to get back to work but needed to pickup lunch along the way. As I came up on the location, I saw that it was the "New Diners Drive Inn". So why not give it a chance. I am a fan of homemade hamburger steak and they had one on the menu so why not give it a go. It was homemade however, the pieces (two at that) was very very thin. At first taste, it seemed like Salisbury steak patties from the frozen TV dinners of long ago, but the taste wasn't that bad. Gravy was ono, rice was sticky and not over/under cooked. And most important, food was hot. So, will I go there again? Probably. Their garlic ahi looked pretty good. And there is a bubble tea shop connected to it. Will I get the hamburger steak plate? Nope.

Went here today tried there food. I ordered spicy mochiko chicken and roast pork mix. one out of 5 I give it a 2. Gravy was on point chicken not bad roast pork slices 4-5 pieces not worth the money. My wife ordered the fried noodles what a waste of money no flavor. Little bits of spam. cheese burger deluxe on point that's what the one star was for and the gravy

Tired of going to Zippy's after your late night binge of alcohol at the club and being a ratchet in the bathroom? Welcome to one of the better late night spots to get your sober on and reflecting on how your spiral down into this plate of food that layeth beneath your face from New Diner's is probably one of the better decisions you've made all night. PLACE: located adjacent to the post office in Kalihi, this is a very easy place to spot while you're driving by. Parking lot is plentiful, but it does get busy with its regulars. Don't be afraid, Kalihi isn't what it once was. Nowadays all you have to worry about is why you just saw a random running independent chihuahua get VIP access to one of the many buy-me-drinky bars that litter the area. Like, did you just see that? Yeah, you did. AMBIANCE: no dining in, it's an outdoor seating kinda thing so enjoy your view of the local drunkards trying to get their fix on as well. No worries, lots of tables to sit your ass in. This place is definitely not romantic, so no first dates here ya'll unless you know how to work it with you know what, so then all that superficial bull crap comes secondary. Lol EXPERIENCE: this place has never failed me once. It beats Zippy's by a lot. It's priced dirt cheap for the large amount of food they give you, I teared once because the shoyu short ribs were monstrous . . . it was beauUuUuuutiful. They have a wide variety of local food and an assortment of crappy bubble drinks to choose from . . . c'mon, you're drunk and it's 4am in the morning, where else you gonna' sip bobba's that hit the back of your throat perfectly at this time of night? Yeahhhhhhh. I've noticed that they have a new chef in the back as well, and he's doing wonders. Compared to how this place was before . . . big BIG difference. Overall, a really great place to sober up or get a late night snack for your munchie probs. Either way, this is the solution to your vice. Enjoy. FIN. p.s CASH ONLY!!!!

Never ate food so fast. the mixed plate with BBQ chicken and Teri Beef was the juiciest meat I've ever tried. it came with 2 scoops of white rice and Mac salad. then the homemade vanilla/chocolate Swirl cone was a perfect way to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Don't ask me why but I'm just addicted to Diners meat loaf. I've eaten it since I was a kid. Keeaumoku, Kalakaua and Kalihi locations (wont go to Aiea its just different). That's the only thing I'll eat there. Don't know why. I've had it served to me cold and sometimes when I go at night, I get the piece that's been sitting in the warmer all day and has that carcinogenic crust on the bottom. This latest incarnation is the worst yet. It has barely enough meat to hold all that bread together. Mushy sadness. The rice scoops will soon be golfball sized. And they charge for gravy-all-over. Pitiful and down right sacrilegious in Hawaii. Cured?

    (1)
  • Lynn M.

The cashiers are rude and you have to wait a long time for your food. Think they are expensive for the amount of food they give. The short ribs are vey good though which is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. Breakfast is okay and the price is more reasonable

Visited the place next door which serves bubble tea after having dinner at Han Yang with my family. About 6 of us wanted dessert so we ventured over to this bubble tea place. As I was ordering, one by one, the woman said in a rude voice, can you order now because it's only me. I said politely, it is OK, we are all family and can wait. Mind you, there is no line before or after us. All the orders are put in, she takes my money $18 worth of desserts and makes the orders. All of that took about 8 mins. No biggie for me and my family. Then, I place an order for another bubble tea and ask for a snickers ice cream bar. She said in a rude voice, we don't have that and continues making the drink. For 10 mins worth of work, you made $22... Is that really how you treat your customers?!? Never will I ever return.

Been here only once. Will be back for sure. Tried only their burgers. Ordered two different ones. One was a Teri burger and the other was the kalua pig burger. Both are a must-try. However, they are on the pricier side especially for the size of burgers. The Teri burger was a good mix of sweet and salty. Can't put my finger on it but it definitely stands out from other Teri burgers sold at other local joints. The kalua pig burger was not too salty (which is usually the complaint for most kalua pig). And it tasted homemade, nothing like the one in that tub you buy from the store. Location: not wise to go here at night. BUT, their burgers are worth the risk. Just have one person go out to get the food and the other stay in the car with it already running just in case you need to make a quick get away, just like what we did.

I wish i had read the review of this plave before i went to eat. OMG! Really? I know the place is in kalihi but dayum! Can you say GHETTO? There were tons of overweight kids running around screaming. Why did i even stand in line to order? I will agree. My fault. That should have been a sign from god but i guess this is what I get for not taking in the signs. Theres an older lady working the cashier who looks disgruntled. She took our order of meatloaf and roast beef plate. The rice was pitiful. Golfball size. The roast beef was old and dry with a slab of gravy. The meatloaf was by far ths worst meatload I have ever eaten. It tasted like baby food. The consistancy of the meatloaf was runny as if they blended the meat. I was dumbfounded! How in the world do you have a food establishment without someone who can cook?? My cousins a bad cook (this guy could burn water!) But i would rather have gone to him than order this plate of death. I will never come here again EVER. $20.89 for old roast beef jerky and meat flavored baby good!

I've driven past this place MANY MANY times but never ate here until this morning. After shopping with a friend at the Swap Meet we were both hungry. I wanted to try Bob's BBQ in Dillingham but my friend didn't think it was open (when I checked on Yelp later they're OPEN). As we arrived at about 830am there were just a few people. There have an extensive menu on the wall as well as a large board on the window with daily specials. Was somewhat hard to decide what to get but ended up with kimchee fried rice (egg cooked to order) and garlic ahi plate. My friend didn't want white rice so we had tossed greens as a substitute. While waiting to order the counter clerk too quite some time. She was making a boba tea so we just stood there until she was done! After placing our order the food came out in about 10mins. As we sat down I started to read some reviews and with a bunch of below-par ones, I told myself "I think we made a mistake coming here..." but the food was pretty good! The fried rice was cooked with a great amount of heat and enjoyed the bits of "crunchy rice" here and there. However, I didn't like the frozen corn and peas in this dish and how the egg was placed in the box. It was "thrown" in the corner - - such bad presentation!!! The garlic ahi plate was really good. A little overcooked to my liking but still very edible. Came with tartar sauce, lemon and thousand island dressing in cups but we only used the lemon wedges. This plate is worth ordering again. For the 2 plates and a large non-sweetened iced tea the bill came to over $22. A little pricey in my opinion. Overall, a decent place for a quick bite. NOTE: There was a sign at the register of "CASH ONLY".

Owner is very rude! Do not support such a selfish lady! On our way to the window to order, we were going to throw away our empty Starbucks cup in her trash can, she rudely said we weren't allowed to throw it away here and we should throw it away where we bought it from. How can you treat customers this way? Over trash? So sad that we used to go there all the time..never again will I support such a unappreciative stuck up lady and her business

I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food for the price! We had kimchi fried rice with egg and the garlic ahi plate and both were good. The fried rice was super flavorful with ham peas and kimchi. The garlic ahi was four slices and seared nicely. It wasn't rare or pink in the center as I like, but was still tasty. The location is on N King St and only three outside tables and some bar seating.

When you order oxtail soup from diners please don't it's really small the size of your thump three pieces for $14.95 and when the rice is spoil they tell you next time brother. So never again I'll go to the place. Sorry that's really bad. Not even a star for this one. If you don't believe then go try it for yourself.
