So I never thought I would write a review for a fast food joint, but this McDonald's warranted some praise. I met my dad for breakfast because he likes to have his senior-discount coffee there. My husband and I stayed there for 4 hours with my dad talking. During that time, I saw the staff cleaning very regularly. The floors were spotless--they even mopped the floors outside. The bathroom was very clean too. So kudos to them! They also handled the lunch rush that I observed very well. Kind of odd though, I asked for a cup of ice (to make my coffee and iced coffee), but the woman said she would have to charge me 52 cents?! Haha. I ended up just getting three of the little dinky water cups and filling them up with ice at the soda machine.

This all pertains to the drive thru: I'm not a big fan of fast food but when I do get the rare (and I mean RARE) case of the fast food munchies, I usually go to this one since it's close to my house. I think that this mcdonalds has their on and off days. There are times when their fries are really soggy, even during their peak times when you would think that everything would just be coming out of the fryer. And then there are days where you just enjoy everything that they've given you. The workers too have their days, I dont know how many times I've been given too many condiments (im not complaining) or not getting anything close to what I've asked. Sweet and sour sauce when I wanted Ranch and BBQ sauce, no straws when I've ordered 4 drinks. I always double check but the fact that they don't put those in the first time kinda bursts my bubble.

Very disappointed with this location. When I pulled into the parking lot the drive thru line was to the street, so I decided to walk in. The line in the store was just as bad. With about 10 people in line there were only 2 registers open. I don't know what the hold up was, but the lines weren't moving. I waited in line for a good 10 minutes before I actually got to the counter. But after that the food came pretty quick and that's the only reason why I gave a 2 star rating. As being one of the busier McDonald's I find it so hard to that they could be understaffed, especially on a wednesday when school gets out early. So if you have time to spare, this is your McDonalds, if not, move on down the road to the next one. ;)

Always been a crappy McDonalds ever since I can remember. I used to live in town, so I know. It's an Express McDonalds so it doesn't have the full menu options as other McDonalds across the island. Seriously like wtf right? An Express McDonalds. LMFAO Recently went there for a side salad, and suprise! They don't have that. Lamelamelamelame. Their employees here are always slow&ghetto looking have never gone here without seeing at least one employee here with a capp'd tooth -imjustsayin bwahaha Would suggest going to Bale a couple steps down or Jamba Juice* :)

The only place that rivals the crazy traffic congestion that this McDonald's causes is Costco Iwilei gas lines! Both places cause traffic headaches and people sticking out in traffic lanes. It's crazy! I hate it but sometimes this is the only location that serves $1 any size drinks. Lary and I never usually come here for a full on order that requires food because the wait isn't fast food quick nor is it even Jack in the Box made to order quick. It takes forever and you midas well go to a sit down restaurant and eat food that's tastier, better for you, and you will have a place for yourself and not sharing it with the bum next to you! Don't even think about going to the drive thru if you're in a hurry... that's a huge mistake! You should probably go inside and just order yourself. Or come with someone and then they can wait outside and you can order! If they have dollar any size soft drinks, then you'll find me here... otherwise you'll find me eating somewhere else content as can be because I don't have to mingle with the dregs of society hanging out here... or the old people that won't budge because they're enjoying their social hour which I can't blame them for because that will be me one day!

Location is perfect for me and they're fast. What more can I say? I'm loving it. Seriously.

This McDonalds has yet to disappoint me, the orders are always correct and very convenient for me. The fries seems to be always fresh out of the frying pan for me, I hope this never changes. The sauce on the burgers are just the right amount unlike the others.

Getting very upset with this McDonalds. I caught that poor man taking orders in the hot sun again last week. Today, I bought my customary extra large diet coke. When I wasn't given my game piece, the cashier said, "Oh, you can only have one if you get a medium drink, not a large." Really? Changed the rules since last week, eh? When I caught the manager (who looked like the cashier's mother) at the pickup window, I inquired, "Aren't I supposed to be able to just request a game piece without a purchase?" "Oh no," she smiled, "You can only get a game piece if you order a regular fries." Ima gonna tell, Ima gonna tell, Ima gonna tell... ========================================================== Like a ROLLING STONE, I said they're not your BEAST OF BURDEN, GIMMEE SHELTER! I thought that I couldn't GET NO SATISFACTION! I had to wait but I had TIME ON MY SIDE. But then, JUMPIN JACK FLASH, the LOVIN CUP kicked in. A yellow umbrella, not PAINTED BLACK but it gave me SATISFACTION. WILD HORSES, can't keep me away from McDonalds!!!!!! Thank you for listening McDonald's. I didn't think it would matter but it did. You care! Hooray for you!

I drove here right after getting through Burger King's drive through. I had bought two Whopper Jr's there, but decided to come to McDonald's because they have better fries and cheaper drinks. I got a 44 oz. Hi-C for only $1 and a small fries to go along with my burgers. For a limited time, they have blueberry pies, so I got one of those too. Total damage came to $3.14. The drive thru line was long, but I endured and actually ate both of my sandwiches by the time I got to the pick up window. Good thing I bought those sandwiches from Burger King first!

I haven't written a review in ages and i can't believe i'm reviewing McDonald's. All I have to say is that your workers don't know how to count, i ordered a 10 piece nugget meal and before i started eating I only counted 8 pieces. SMH micronesian, i was hella hungry and i just got hustled.

came here on a whim b/c friends were driving, and we were HUNGARY... normally, i don't go to McD's - but when you're hungry and broke and everything else is far.... why not? the chinese boy at the drive thru this past saturday was horrible. he forgot the sauces for our chicken nuggets, and then didnt give us enough, and then didnt give us the right flavors. it was like talking to rain man. then again.... this is fast food.... so i really shouldnt expect much, should i?

Yesterday evening the traffic on the roads were horrendous because of the rainy weather so I decided to kill some time and run a few bank errands then pick up some take-out dinner before heading home. I didn't really feel like jumping out of the car because of the weather, so I thought that I would try pulling into a drive-thru. I had my dog with me in the truck, and I know how she loves her french fries so I pulled into this McDonald's. I too (like previous bloggers) ended up waiting quite a long time with just a handful of cars in front of me. I would have jumped out of line also, but figured that I might as well stick it out and let the traffic die down even more before heading out. I got my usual filet-o-fish meal with a sprite and headed off. The french fries seemed a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was piping hot, put together presentably and seasoned perfectly. Don't you just hate it when your filet-o-fish is just slapped together where the cheese and fish is off the edge of the bread? Food: *** Service: ** Ambiance: *** Value: ****

I always think to myself, "When I retire, will I be hanging out at McDonald's at 5am in the morning?" It's just one of life's many mysterious and upcoming questions. I wouldn't mind it as long as they get free wi-fi when I get there. 8) This is actually our "on the way to work" stop every now and again. So, depending on the traffic, we'll drive though or just park it and walk in. It's mostly the latter though. One of the best things about this location? They get the order right super early in the morning. It'd be so humbug when I'm barely awake to get something wrong, but all the times we've come here they've been on it. Nothing really more you can ask than that. Always a bonus to start your mornings with a McDonald's Coke and hash browns. 8P

  • Kanoe P.

If I could give a negative star, I would. This was such an epic fail! Super simple order, gone horribly wrong! My coke float was: 1. Made with diet coke. I'm already adding tons of calories to my coke by adding ice cream, why would I want it to be a diet?? 2. The drive thru guy handed it to me WAY OVERFLOWING. Umm hello? I'm in the drive thru, couldn't u dump off the lake of coke that's floating on TOP of the cover?? If I wanted it to spill all over me I would have asked for no cover. EPIC FAIL. the rest of the order was actually ok, but couldn't get over the coke that is now all over my car.

This is the McDonald's that we tend to visit more often than any other McDonald's in town. We found that that this one was a little less expensive than say the one on Keeaumoku. It's not a lot of savings but it was enough for us to visit this one often. Today was the first time that I ever had to wait on the side for my food. I waited less than five minutes but come on...this is McDonald's. I always thought that they had food all ready for any customer that showed up at the window/counter. I guess I caught them at a bad time. The guy that took my order had a very monotone and not the most inviting voice I have heard at a drive thru. He was quick to give me my change but when he gave me my receipt and change, his voice changed and he sounded a bit happier than when he took my order. Then that went away when he was talking to the next customer behind me. I drove up to the next window and waited for a minute before a really nice girl came up to the window and told me to pull up on the side. She didn't give me a reason but she said it with a smile so I didn't question it. The boy that came out of the store to bring me my food was nice and said thank you. The fries were not pipping hot even though I had to wait but they were still good, as McDonald's fries generally are. Our nuggets were crispy and packed nicely in their cute little boxes. Overall, the food was typical of McDonald's...just the right amount of salt on the fries and a smell left in my car to always remind that I ate those oh so yummy french fries.

Rating: 3/5 Date(s) visited: 12/03/2010, many times before this. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Price: 4/5 Parking: 2/5 Drive Thru: 2/5 Open 24 hours a day, this is another of my "Goto" McDonalds. I think and have heard that this is the location that trains most of the new employees of Mc Donald's Food: Not sure whether to label this "Comfort food," or a "Last resort" kinda-thing. Service: Drive thru was average. Hit or miss. Can't beat free Wi-fi. Atmosphere: A fairly new decor. Price: Nothing to complain about. Especially when they have a dollar menu. Parking: This location has limited parking during peak hours. Drive Thru: Normal. Neither fast or slow. Hit or miss.

I love Mcdonalds, mainly because I am addicted to chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce and their super sweet iced coffee (did you know you can order a meal and basically change anything? I hate soda, so I always opt to get an iced coffee with my meal instead. It is a bit more expensive, but worth it!!). Recently, I went to this Mcdonalds, hoping to get my chicken nugget fix. It was sooooo crowded at about 1:15pm. Anyways, I ordered my chicken nuggets with a smoothie after waiting in the ridiculously long line. They called my order and I picked it up and went outside to eat, taking my chances with the wind blowing all my food away since there was no room inside. I thought my smoothie looked a little different than when I had ordered it before.....but ignored it. I started eating and realized I had gotten a strawberry milkshake instead of the smoothie I ordered (I hate milkshakes too). so I packed up all my food and went back in to get a smoothie. Waited in the same long line since it was the same cashier who had taken my order before. Okay, so most people order, then move to the side to let the next person order as they wait for their food. Not the Korean lady in front of me. I guess the cashier guy was too shy to ask her to move.....so what does he do?? closes his cashier......but no one in this line realizes this until the korean lady has gotten her food and moves away so that we can read "pos closed". -___- great. I then have to walk over to another line to wait in. They did replace my drink though, and even after this 25 minute ordeal, I will still come back. Next time, I'll probably come at some obscure hour though so they wont mess up my order.

Normally, I pack my own lunch, but today I couldn't think of anywhere to go for lunch. I'm a one-man show in my new job, with a somewhat isolated office with no colleagues nearby (albeit with a lovely mountain view), so finding lunch dates is proving to be a bit of a problem, and I just can't bring myself to sit alone in a regular restaurant . I was feeling very much like Steve Martin in that film, I think it was "The Lonely Guy." ("Uh, yes, party of one, thank you."). Walked past the lunch wagon near my building...just too much food. You get to be my age, you can put on 5 pounds between morning and night...maybe something else. Walk down King Street to the cafe in Straub...geez, they used to have ready made salads but now they just have the salad bar, and no "to go" packs; just a plate and foil, which might blow away walking down the street...pass. Down to Pensacola. Subway? Eat Fresh? I'll have a stuffy nose reaction to the yeast in the bread. Korean Bar-be-cue? Yum...but I'm trying to slim down...part of the whole mid-life crisis thing. You get the picture...very indecisive today, thus I ended up in McDonalds...the one across from Burger King on Beretania. Wow, haven't been in here for years; the interior is pretty nice. Ordered a "Southwest" salad and green tea, and the salad wasn't bad. Yes, contrary to what Seinfeld said on his show years ago, real men actually do eat salads! I just kept my scary John McCain Halloween mask on though, so nobody would recognize me.

Why does it take people so long to get their orders in drive through yet people can park their car and walk out the door with an order in hand before you move a car length closer to the window? This McDonald's has gotten a complete overhaul with renovations and upgrades and they can't deliver service better than they did before they renovated? Something has got to be wrong. The food here is still the same standard you expect from McDs. But after several people parked and returned to their car in various different times made me regret going through the drive through, I had to rethink my reasoning to stop by this McDs all together. I didn't even want food? I just wanted a sprite and a water. Maybe I shoulda went to the Burger King across the street. One wrong left turn.

When I was waiting for the food that I had ordered for my girlfriend and myself, I had been notified that the order was up, and I walked over to get my order. Due to the poor line control executed by this restaurant in this location, someone was blocking the path. The person behind the counter said nothing to the person to ask the person to vacate the area. I had to say excuse me 3 different times before the person looked at me dumb-founded and still didn't move. And the person behind the counter still said nothing. I had ultimately gotten my food by pushing my way to the counter. Following this incident the customer blocking the way had come up to me and yelled at me while my girl and I were eating our lunch. The person then had the audacity to call management, whom when arrived never really bothered to listen to our side of the story, and asked us to leave. We did so, and I didn't even finish my food. To top it all off they got our order wrong! The management and staff here are abhorrent, incompetent, and incapable of doing their jobs. Be careful if you visit this location, you're likely to get a bad case of indigestion.

Ahhh... the golden arches... oh the memories... Getting out of my nostalgic stupor, I can honestly say that I do love McDonalds and have come to appreciate their "healthier" outlook and packaging of their products. I love how their burgers and fries now come with nutrition facts... even their bottled water. I particularly love how Hawaii's McDonalds have their own local spin like Spam and eggs or the haupia pie. This McDonald's on Beretania is clean and has such friendly service from its employees. I do have to agree with the drive thru being on the slow side but eh... cest la vie! But this is one of the best McDonalds I've been to. That might not be a lot but in the world of endless, greasy fastfood joints, that should count for something. I'm lovin it!

    (4)
  • James H.

The best McDonalds on the island in my opinion. Lines usually move pretty fast, they're open 24 hours, they're very clean and $0.99 any size drinks! The soda's have a lot of fizz and the fruit punch is just right!

Wifey and I saw a commercial on TV about the banana pies and we (meaning she) wanted to get one. We were already about to eat dinner (spicy tuna hand rolls) so we thought we'd eat at home then walk to the 2nd nearest McD's (the closest one was about to close at 7:30pm on Fort Street) and have that for dessert. This one was about a mile walk 1 way so we could justify the unhealthy crap we were about to eat. It was pretty nice inside, definitely not what I would've expected from a McD's. I guess it was just renovated recently. I got the banana pie a la mode for $1.89 and she got the banana pie $0.99 and the vanilla cone (out of nostalgia's sake) for $1.20. The banana pie is really good and goes really well with the vanilla soft serve. I really enjoy the experimental and local things McD's comes out with in Hawaii McD's that aren't anywhere else: taro pie, pineapple pie, haupia pie, spam, rice, Portuguese sausage, soy sauce. But the kicker was seeing saimin on the menu here! I know for most people here, you've probably grown up with all this, but I wasn't raised here, so I love seeing little things like that.

Oh McDonalds, the thorn in my side. I blame you for keeping me away from my goal weight. Curse your extra value meals number two & number nine, your milkshakes, hash browns, apple pies, and portugese sausage breakfast plates. All the items I love!

The drive thru this morning was extremely slow at 6:30am. Watched several cars behind me leave the line and drive out of the parking lot. Gonna find somewhere else for my morning fix.

  • J K.

Recently renovated, so it looks really nice, but beware of the drive-thru unless you have an hour to spare. I have never seen a drive-thru have so many people drive out of the line because of the wait. It is so ridiculous. We have sat there and have actually driven out of the line because it took so long. This past weekend we were at BK and saw someone drive out of the line. I think it is because of the workers there. They don't communicate very well and they take forever to get you your food. So if you want to read a book or watch a movie in your car while waiting for your food, this is the perfect place for you.
