Typical local joint--mediocre quality, big portions (with the current restaurant trend to charge you a little more and give you a little less, this may have changed) it can't help but be a winner. It'll break your mouth without breaking your bank account. Just don't go into the Walmart bathroom before you eat. You may lose your appetite.

I go to walmart a lot but I don't dine at this particular L&L too often or actually it's been too long since I've had their food here. Let me tell you service is not their specialty here. No sense of customer service when ordering food. We placed an order for 1 mini chicken katsu curry, 1 mini chicken katsu, and 1 salmon patty salad. They gave us 2 mini katsu curry instead but my sister decided to just eat the curry one instead because we didnt want to wait for another one to be made. I got my salad and it was two itty bitty peices of salmon that was totally not worth the price. it's overpriced for the portions they offer here. I think I've experience better at the L&L closer to my home. The quality of food just didn't seem fresh during my last visit here.

I want to say that I used to love L & L when it was banging back in the day .. But, I got over their food quick too ... For the record, I haven't had L&L for years ... until last week Saturday after my awesome massage. I figured I'd pick up something quick to eat while I was in Walmart buying DVDs and crackers. So this is how my adventure with L&L went: Walked up to the counter ... Ordered a chicken Katsu. To go. Said it twice. The guy who took my order talked so fast and SOFT that I couldn't understand what the hell he said. FINALLY, we concluded that he was asking me if this was to go or eat there. I started at him, and stared at him. And he says "oh yeah, never mind" I pay, he hands me my receipt. Mumbles my number, and I walk to the side to wait. Here's where I should've known better. Not 10 seconds after I walked away, my number was called o.0 ... okay I looked at him just to be sure he was calling my number. He waved his arms and pointed at me. Needless to say, because I didn't listen to my inner voice yelling "NO RETURN IT AND GET OUR MONEY BACK!!!!" ... I went home, ate some of the chicken, which seemed okay ... but I not surprisingly, got FOOD POISONING!!!! And this is why I will go back to NEVER eating there again. Sometimes it's best to listen to that inner voice of yours. You don't want to be running to the bathroom all night, every 5 seconds. It kind of blew my zen I had going on from my massage. Don't EVER eat there, don't take your out of town relatives or friends there. Just stay away from the place!

It's L&L...I've found generally its best to have low expectations here in Hawaii, but on the Mainland these places are great! Early start today left me needing a bite about 3pm..had a small plate lunch. Nothing exciting. Mac salad was good.

The straw on the camel's back has finally broken. First off, I like L&L. I'm not saying it's super great but I do eat there often. However, at this location I am never satisfied with the quality of food I get here but I can be forgiving especially when I am hungry. This time around I'm feeling under the weather. Flu season, it's going around. Thank goodness for antibiotics. I wanna eat something but not a lot. Hot noodles sounded real good as it always does when I am sick. I order the plain saimin. That can't be hard to make right? I was disgusted with what I got. The noodles over cooked and the broth tasted like soap water. I could not finish it. I went home and made my own with cabbage and chicken. My other half long ago has condemned this location. I should have followed her lead. That was it for me too. Thank goodness the other locations are not infected with this symptom. My suggestion, try the other locations first like the one by the Ward Theatres on Kamakee St..

I love Hawaiian bbq and this place was fine to get a loco moco to split with my dad. Located in the Walmart.

Very disappointing! I've been here several times, but won't be back again. I had Chicken Katsu. Used to be thick pieces of chicken, was so ono. Today it was almost paper thin and dry. Also, very overpriced. Almost eight bucks for mini and over twelve for regular. . .sooo not worth it! Hubby ordered Beef Curry, he said it wasn't too bad, just average.

This location is inside the Walmart, I was starving and decided to give this place a shot ( I believe is a chain). I got a combo and it was delicious. I don't know if the reason it tasted so good was because I was hungry but I really enjoyed.

  • Jeanie H.

Worst L&L we've ever been to. If this was my first L&L experience, I would never go back. The food at this Walmart location is completely overpriced as if they were inside some amusement park or airport and they give you measly portions. Normally one plate is enough for 2 people but this was barley enough for 1. We ordered the BBQ mixed plate and it cost $13!!! There was honestly only about $5 worth of food since there was only 1 piece of meat on the plate!Ridiculous!!

  • Grace L.

This L&L used to be my favorite! The chicken katsu here used to be the greatest... In the past, the katsu plate provided large pieces of white meat chicken, enough meat so that when you bit into it, you could tell it was chicken. It came fresh out of the fryer so you could definitely taste the crispness of the katsu. However, the past few times I've gone, the katsu is just skin and breaded crumbs. When I bit into it, all I could taste was the crunch followed by some grease and oil. It wasn't hot either, which meant that it had been pre-fried and then just left there to sit. I can understand that it's a fast food joint which means precooking is sometimes a necessity. However, for something like chicken katsu where you can taste the old grease if it's not fresh, I think it would be advisable to fry batches frequently instead of all at once and left to sit. I had a bad grease taste in my mouth all day. I don't usually eat chicken katsu or L&L in general but I don't think I'll be back for another round...

Ordered a ramen burger that did not taste like the ones I had before on an other L&L. The noodles was not crispy and there was like three tiny pieces of lettuce on the burger. Price was also bit higher than other places.

  • R K.

Today I tried the big hype "saimin burger" .....well it was no big hype at at least from l&l.for the following reasons...1. Pricy....2..very greasy..3....no taste at all the grease overpowers and lettuce overpowers the the taste.......so after I had burger I ask the manager the lady with the red shirt....what type of oil do they cook the noodle (bun part of the burger) with she said sunflower oil.......I mentioned that it ruins the taste of the burger and suggested the noodle would taste much better if cooked with butter.....the manager didn't even acknowledge my suggestion or comment....on the positive noteI hope Mr Flores sees my comment and I hope it can improve the burger!!!! And have better management

Ok so my review is a little different from the other Yelpers due to my tourist status. This L&L is by far the best L&L I have eaten, and perhaps even the best Hawaiian fast food...period. The Hawaiian fast food places in Los Angeles have nothing on this place. The food was delish, conveniently located, and cheap! I am a budget traveler so this nailed all 3 items on my wish list. I played it safe and tried the Teriyaki Chicken and Beef plate. Everything was great, more than expected. Seating can be a little tough to snag.

The only thing I like to order from here is the side of crinkle cut fries ($2.95). They make it when you order it so it's a short wait involved. The fries always come out piping hot. Good thing I don't get these cravings too often, wallet-wise & waistline-wise. Plate lunches at this Keeaumoku Wal-Mart locale starts from $6.95 for the mini & $10.75 for the regular. Spam Musubi for $2.95? Expensive! I'd rather walk over to Iyasume Musubi Express for that. The way I see it, why order a plate lunch when you can get a polish dog & soda from Sam's Club upstairs for under $2.00? Guess the Scrooge in me is lashing out. Thank goodness I don't feel like eating plate lunch when I have to do my "other" shopping here, but at least it's nice to know the option is there. This time when I ordered my fries it looked like the portion got significantly smaller. Like 30% less. Normally the bag of fries would be almost full, but today it was only half full. I don't know if the cook had small hands or if that's the new portion since it's been over a year since I last ordered one, but for 3 bucks I kind of felt ripped off. Guess I saved myself some calories here? Hopefully I won't crave these for another year. My overall rating is 2.5 stars.

Hawaiian fastfood chain ... probably not the best place to try authentic hawaiian food but what do u expect inside a walmart/from a fastfood chain ... that being said it is still better than mcdonalds or jack in the box .... however its a little pricey in my opinion

Very disappointed. Really bad customer service. CASH ONLY! C'mon! I got a mini chicken cutlet curry plate around $6.80.. Yeah, all of their MINI plates are $6+. So I went back to Walmart and gotten 'cash back' since I didn't have enough cash. I had 30 mins break from my 1st job and school to my 2nd job. Tired and exhausted, as I sit in the parking lot of my 2nd job, hoping to eat my food and relax for a couple minutes, my food had probably 2 tablespoons of curry. Really? Not only did they give so little curry/gravy but it was really bland. Thanks L&L Keeamuoku!!

I have worked in the vicinity of this L&L location for the past 4 1/2 years and only eat there as a "last resort". The food always tastes like it's been sitting under a heat lamp for hours, regardless of the item ordered. I'm a huge fan of L&L's cheeseburgers & fries, but this location is the worst ever. The meat is overcooked and the fries are soggy & limp. Every time I eat there I tell myself NEVER GO BACK, but apparently I'm not so good at heeding my own advice. After yesterday's visit, I spent all afternoon in the bathroom as a result of eating the chicken katsu. Hmmm...I think the health department needs to pay them a visit!

Conveniently located inside the Walmart, i've eaten here a handful of times. It's just super hard to get a table. So if someone is leaving, you got to hurry up & grab the table before somebody else does. I've been eating L&L for years since i've lived in Cali. There was one down the street from my house. At first i thought it was just a chain in California. I didn't know it originated years ago in Hawaii lol. I pretty much tried everything on the menu. Spam musubi, saimen, loco moco, chicken katsu...ate it all! Nothing really taste bad here. It just gets old if you eat it all the time! But if i'm hungry & happen to be shopping at Walmart i most def eat here.

Walmart.... one of those places you go to with the intent of buying 1 thing, but instead, end up staying for hours and when you leave, your hands are filled with packages. only in Hawaii will you find a frigging plate lunch place in a Walmart!! i was starving, and L&L happened to be right in front of me at the time..... i should have waited to eat instead of giving in!!! ordering a mini chicken katsu, i sit on the side and wait. eventually deciphering the broken english of the girl on the mic - i figure out she's calling my order. the chicken was a little over cooked and stringy (read: junk), and the katsu sauce was abysmal!! it was the most flavorless, bland, crappy katsu sauce i've ever had. my friend said "so, does it taste like ketchup and shoyu?" i said no.... ketchup and shoyu would be better than this katsu sauce. i had to dump a bunch of sriracha sauce into it just so it would burn away the crappy taste in my mouth. my friend had the mini loco moco, and the consensus here is that their food is BLAND BLAND BLAND...... SKIP this L&L (not others tho, they are all independently owned from what i understand....).... and go get some food somewhere else. Millions is right around the corner in the back of Walmart if you're interested...... if you really insist on eating here - you should also know that they are CASH ONLY....

Baaaaaad service -.- Me and my boyfriend decided to eat there. He ordered a regular hamburger steak and I ordered a mini chicken katsu. We sat down and they called our order number so I went to get the food. Usually the chicken katsu comes with the katsu sauce but I didn't get one. I went back there again and asked this lady for the katsu sauce. Guess what she did? She tried to look at my tray to see if I'm like lying about it or something, grabbed the katsu sauce, and just lazily threw it on the counter towards me. Oh hell no, the hell did you JUST do?! Gosh, it's just a sauce, Miss Little Stingy.

I've been to this l&l a few times cause its right across from my work. The garlic ahi used to be good, but it kept getting smaller and thinner pieces of fish. And the price went up. Last time I got it the fish was hard and way over cooked. The Kailua pork is always good. And it's now the only thing I will buy from here. I got the curry Katsu a couple times and the chicken is always cold and has no flavor along with the watery katsu sauce that you have to pay extra for. Had a BBQ burger once and it was horrible, it looked like they scrape grease of the grill and put it on the bun. I recommend spending your money else where. Like the shrimp and BBQ place across the street.

My husband talked me into this after shopping at Walmart for some cheap souvenirs. Turns out it was the best Hawaiian food we had on our trip! The pork was soooo good & the portions are big enough to share! It would get 5 stars if it weren't for the Walmart view :)

  • Christine C.

This is where I go when I am craving that not-so-healthy Chicken Katsu that tastes so good! I usually get a mini, with brown rice and green salad. It's quick service and a good price. It is a little annoying that they charge extra for brown rice. Yes, it's inside Wal-mart. It's always better to park on the 2nd or 3rd floor, to avoid slow-moving traffic.

Came here for the 76cent plate lunch special on June 7th. It is amazing how good chicken katsu tastes for 76 cents. We actually saw people who had waited in line multiple times. No shame!! I was a little suspicious....the posters said that proceeds would go to Goodwill.....What proceeds? They were basically giving away food!! But we saw that they had made out a check to Goodwill for $1000! Great job, owners of this L&L. A very nice lady was handing out her card and the people handling traffic and what not were very friendly. Cashiers were a little overwhelmed and NOT very nice. But, no complaints, I felt like I was stealing their food anyways. Can't wait for next year (apparently, this is an annual thing!!)

  • Gemma R.

I shouldn't have done it but I locked eyes with the lady behind the counter and she started waving us over. Plus I wanted katsu curry. WELL. Lesson learned, don't do it. This had to be the worst Katsu Curry I've ever eaten. It was bland and watered down. even the katsu sauce was watered down. I hardly give 1 star and this one totally deserved it. Stop being so cheap!

  • Cameron B.

Better late than never. This has to be the worst L&L I've ever been to. Shared a regular chicken katsu curry plate with the GF and we had so much left overs! Why? Because it didn't taste like anything! The curry had no flavor, the katsu sauce was watery and flavorless and don't get me started on the macaroni salad! How does this place stay open and have a decent rating! Worst L&L ever. I can't even stress that fact enough. Bad.

This has got to be one of the most poppingest L&L's on the island. The prices are a bit higher than other L&L's on the island just because it is in a busy area like Walmart and in the Ala Moana area through Keeaumoku. It's conveniently located inside the Walmart store right next to the entrance on your right and right next to the restrooms as well. Most of the food here, however, is alright. I think the quality and taste of food is way better in other L&Ls. One of the good things in this stand is the presentation of it's look and the counter. The graphics and presentation of the menu is crisp and clean. The staff workers are also nicely presented with their attire and uniforms. There is a small dining area right inside the stand. Sometimes it gets full and crowded fast during busy peak meal times like lunch. A good thing about ordering here is that if you do order a drink, you can't really get screwed over the quantity of your drink because they have their own soda dispenser. Yelp 365 Challenge #279/365

I think this is one of the better L&Ls on O'ahu! What I really adore about this place is that it is open late at night, and it's an option for me, since I get off work late. Because it is an L&L, I don't expect gourmet quality food. After all, it IS a fast-food plate lunch place. What I also like about this place is that it is located inside Walmart, and before I order or anything, I can pick up some wine/soda/etc and come back. It's been a while, but I really like their healthy option. Although it is rather small, it does offers me something less fattening when I don't feel like eating a large plate. Also, they include a calorie count now for those who are calorie conscience. I've been going to different L&Ls since middle school, and it's been pretty consistent. My personal favorites are the Loco Moco, BBQ Chicken, and the Fried Mahi-Mahi with Tartar Sauce with all rice/brown rice (I love Mac Salad, but I try not to eat a lot of it). The best L&Ls on O'ahu has got to be this one, the one located at Ward(Next to ColdStone), and the one located on Sand Island(I've never been to this one personally, but a friend brought some food from there, and the Chicken Katsu was the best Katsu I've ever tasted!) I could go on for ages about L&L, since I grew up with it, but to sum things up: Pros: Fast Affordable Convenient Tasty (Imho) Lots of Variety Cons: Unhealthy(Though there is a healthy option) I don't really have a lot of Cons, but maybe "Tasty" would be one of them. In my opinion, the food isn't great, but it tastes good to me. Others, however, may think otherwise. Service as well might be a small con. I think this location is fully ran by FOB Chinese people, so don't expect much conversation or joking around. They are there to do their job straight up and front. You might not feel welcomed or see a lot of friendliness, but hey it's L&L, and you're there to get food and not get serviced on. *For those who think it is always Mac Salad + Rice, you can always ask for substitutions. You can choose just all rice, all brown rice, and/or salad substitution. They do charge for brown rice, but it's not expensive at all considering how much of it they give you. I usually get the brown rice option for the fiber. Definitely a better alternative to Mcdonalds, expensive restaurants, and other fast food places late at night.

Local food, love it or hate it. This place is like a fast food Zippy's. The fare is unappealling esp if you're from the mainland and dont understand the locals' fascination with high fat mac salad, fatty meats, and fried foods. This is one of the places your doctor will tell you steer clear of, and you wont be missing a thing.

Never again, I just found a huge pubic hair under my chicken katsu. I'm disgusted and will be not giving them my business anymore. I love that place now I'm just sickened

They've improved somewhat. Before their regular Kalua pork and cabbage plate was in a bowl, which was way too small. Now they're in a regular plate. and since I've got the munchies, well, my dinner was awesome-sauce. Lol.

This place is gross, the food taste old and had no real flavor. Nothing healthy for the body and/or mind. Customer service was even worse. Not to mention the inside story I got from Terminix... blah

...go with the chicken whatever....the hamburger steak...etc. seems pre-made/frozen...terrible, terrible, and kinda expensive for a plate lunch... )); how hard is it to make a patty?

This review is based soley on their food. Yesterday I was craving beef stew (btw this craving has yet to be fufilled) and I made my husband go get me some. I was tired and my baby in my belly was rocking out and making my tummy hurt. He first went to Zippy's because honestly, I had no idea where to send him and I told him to check Zippy's first. He said they didn't have any so he went to L&L instead. So as with a lot of food, I compare it to my mom's cooking... if she can make the same thing. Another reason why I don't order beef tomato when I eat at Chinese restaurants... no one can make it as well as my mother. Anyway, my husband brought me back some beef stew from here. The color was quite disturbing... it was the color of the carrot. Quite odd but since I was hungry and wanting beef stew I tried it anyway. There was only one small potato and one carrot... I think I might have gotten a celery sliver but I can't be too sure. The rest was meat. I like a lot of veggies in my beef stew... I don't like five thousand pieces of meat without any veggies. Two stars only based on the fact that the mac salad was okay and the beef was tender enough to eat and there was a lot of them. The taste? Meh it was lacking... big time. I didn't like it really... I ate it because I felt bad that the husband got it for me. I ate two pieces of beef, the veggies, and some mac salad. The rest of the beef? Went to my puppy who ate it... he eats anything but I'm sure the beef was good for him... he eats dry dog food and various items of my clothing... what do you expect?

You can eat healthy at L&L. Grilled garlic ahi, brown rice, toss salad. So delicious and generous portions. But chix katsu is still #1

So, I figured I had to try one of these places before leaving the islands. The food is standard fast food fare - greasy, fast, etc. It's nice that they seem to make things fresh to order, so you don't get the "fries that have been sitting under a heating lamp for the past hour" issue. For the non-locals or people who have never eaten here before: Portion sizes are HUGE. If you have a normal sized appetite, get the "mini" version. There ain't nothing mini about it except for the box it comes in...

To be honest, I don't see anything that special about this place. It tastes just like Ono to me. But I don't really have much to compare to soooo just try for yourself :) It sure is convenient though!

Is this the one inside walmart? If so, I was pleasantly surprised by their "healthy" plate for breakfast one day. Ok, so it's not really breakfast food, but the BBQ Chicken on a big bed of salad with olives, tomatoes, and other condiment veggies was good and satisfying and not too greasy. I like. Their chicken katsu is all right, their beef stew is not to be ordered again (although I haven't learned my lesson because I always crave it and I am always disappointed by the orange muck that comes my way!) and the curry is almost the same. And I keep going back for the convenience.

Great "healthy plate" option comes with brown steamed rice instead of white rice and green salad instead of maccarooni salad. Great food for a really great price!

Roast pork was nearly inedible. Almost entirely fatty skin; almost no meat. Anemic brown sauce. Truly horrible, even for a food court.

This was the first L&L that I had ever been to. I was a bit scared off by what I knew of the ways of Spam and the fact that it is inside a Walmart but one day I broke down and tried it. While working at HMSA, I would alternate between here, the Sam's Club cafe when I didn't have any money, or the amazing plate lunch place across the street next to a strip club that I'm not even sure had a name (although if I can figure it out I'd love to write a review on it). This is one of the busiest L&Ls on the island and has one of the biggest menus too. Moderately clean by mainland standards. Immaculately clean by Hawaiian ones.

Staff is terrible, Prices are way to high for poor quality food. Sorry go to another L&L!

Typical Hawaiian fast food with locations all over the island. This particular one is located inside the Walmart (I thought it was hilarious because I'm used to seeing Mickey D's in Walmart). You order off a menu and then pick up your order when your number's called. Combo plates include seafood, lau lau, kahlua pork and there are Japanese style selections such as chicken katsu, garlic ahi, teriyaki steak. Loco Moco, a local favorite is also on the menu. You can also sides such as musubi and salad and my all time favorite Portuguese Bean Soup.

No carb, no fat, no sugar - no way. It's the original plate lunch...huge portions for under $6 - PERFECT for after a day at the beach. Chicken katsu, chicken katsu, chicken katsu.

"If you build it, he will come." And come I did! It has been all about the Saimin Burger this past month. Inspired by the Ramen Burger, the Saimin Burger is legit! Slimy yet satisfying, it was a pleasure eating it hot off the grill. It's not the healthiest burger, but it was delicious! It did leave my hands a bit greasy though. Luckily, the restrooms are right next door! This L&L is located in Walmart and there is lots of parking available in their parking lot. It does get a bit crowded with shoppers looking for a deal. I'm guilty of doing the same. Service is fast and the dining room is small. Everything has a modern vibe. Plus, there are plenty of tourists!
