It's been well over 10 years since I've had Jack in the Crack. Now I know why. BF and I wanted to actually sit down and eat rather than go thru the drivethru. There was no one manning the front for 15 minutes. 15 minutes! Thats ridiculous for a FAST food restaurant. I repeat, FAST food. I'd get my food faster at McDonalds standing in line behind all the Asians in Hawaii (no racial). Either they're really understaffed or they cannot multitask. Food is basic fast food. The tacos were disgusting, the steak melt and curly fries were delicious, and the shake was dangerous for my lactose-intolerant body haha. That was a day and a halfs worth of calories, yum. Sorry but it'll be another 10 years at the least before I go back again

Ok, since my pace of churning out reviews has slowed a bit, I'll go ahead and write one up for our neighborhood "Jack in the Cracks." I think it's fitting because this is one of the places we go when we're too lazy to go beyond 100 yards from our place. You can always smell the frying oil in the air when passing by. I always get one of the sourdough burgers (either the beef, but mostly chicken). There's something about that toasty bun that I enjoy over the regular burgers that they sell. Jack's fries are somewhere between Wendy's fat and McDonald's skinny, which to me is a good thing because I feel they're just the right size. Additionally, of all the fast food joints, the tacos here are the best. You have to eat them when they're hot though or else they'll turn junk quick. The service is usually pretty slow for a fast food joint and it's usually pretty busy. If you're going on a school day, you'll probably see the tons of Washington middle school kids hanging out here. Please be aware when you're going through the drive though to be respectful of some of the residents because you'll be right up against some of houses and apartments. Also there are plenty of pedestrians walking through their parking lot including the kids from the local schools, so just be careful. It's location is slightly odd, being set back behind the gas station and the main entrance right of Punahou St, but it is easily recognizable from any of the cross streets.

My friend found a piece of white hair in his jr. bacon cheeseburger... We took a look at the staff and saw that no one had white hair... Sketch, don't really want to come back to this Jack-in-the-Box ever again.

Are you KIDDING me!? EVERY time I come here they ask me to pull to the side and I wait and wait AND WAIT for something that should take 5mins tops. Even when I am the ONLY customer in line. If you have 20-30 minutes to kill, sure... Stop on by.

Not the best looking out of all the Jack In The Box but definitely the crack spot for some late night Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger with some Seasoned Curly Fries!

The one thing I look forward to after a long night out is going to Jack's and getting a chicken sandwich in the drive thru at 3 in the morning.

Like many fast food restraunts you have your good visits and your bad visits. But you still keep going back. One of the more oddly located ones, it pretty much is the place to go if you are headed into Waikiki, or leaving Waikiki. I've always been on to hit the drive-thru, and ill say it does get busy right around 10PM. Not to mention the route you take, is a bit crammed. Can't complain much about convenience though.

Without exaggeration, the fastest fast food place I've ever been to. I used to eat here everyday (trying hard to eat somewhat healthy) so this is not just a fluke. Employees are very friendly. Be warned, the drive thru smells like the urine of 100 hobos.

I love this JITB. I come here pretty often on my lunch breaks & often get recruited to pick up food for all my coworkers as well. I always get nervous when I have a bunch of things to order but THANK GOD they have never once messed up my order in 6mons! I always use the drive thru & got stuck in a line maybe once or twice. Otherwise they are really fast & when I say really fast I mean I'm only waiting like 5mins for about $30-40 worth of food. Their food is always hot & tastes great & the workers are nice.

I find myself coming here on occassion through out the month. One is for the Jumbo Breakfast. I feel I can get a better deal elsewhere but I do like that combo with the mini pancakes that I dip easily into the syrup. The portion is just right for me. The eggs are pretty good for not being freshly cracked. With a cup of coffee, this convenient location makes a quick morning start. I've always loved their Breakfast Jack consistent through out their chain of stores. I would order these on my late night munchies before going home to bed. The hot eggs and ham were so yummy. Another thing I do like is their shakes. This is where they are not consistent. The thickness and quality of the shake depends who is making it. This location can make them super thick to my satisfaction. So thick it's hard to suck through the straw in the beginning but I always do prevail. The oreo shakes are the best. Today's visit I've got a craving for an old fashion grease ball taco the way almost everyone use to make them before Taco Bell made them a legitimate thing to eat. This is where the shell is kinda hard, the meat is not all that tasty, there's lettuce and you can add your hot sauce. They dropped the price on this big time to be part of their $1 menu. At 2 for $1 we're talking a major deal meal. I order the 2 and Gabriel B. orders the Monster Nacho Taco. The cashier takes our order. She's very nice, constantly smiling but is speaking with a low voice. A little difficult to hear but not a problem. Very efficient and thorough. We take our order and sit down. I like the art work they put up in this location and the colors they used. Same colors you commonly find throughout Mexico but more muted and not so bright. Has a nice feel. What may put people off is the amount of homeless that tend to hang out here. They do keep to themselves. And, you do have to ask for the key to use the restroom. I'm not sure why they call it a Monster Taco. It's a big shell that doesn't look full. Looking inside I see lots of jalapeno slices covered in melted cheese. I'm assuming the meat is underneath that gooey mess. Gabriel B. loves it but this guy is a big cheese lover. I like my tacos better. Doesn't have the cheese but it does have the lettuce that gives it more of a fresh taste. It's oily. It's crunchy. It tastes like I expected like I had decades ago. I'm satisfied. Tesoro is right next door making this a nice 1-2 punch for gas and a quick meal, bite or shake. If you're in the neighborhood, drop by for a quickie.

This is just an average Jack in the Box. I usually have a good experience in the drive thru, but recently have noticed that the person must be following a script. Unfortunately, this means they are not listening to the person If they deviate from their script. Ordered a combo meal and start d ordering the drink, but they corrected me and asked for they type of fries first. When I ordered a second drink, they refused to hear it and so I only had 1 drink. I hope they will move off the script. The food is okay. If you asked me three months ago about this location, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars because the service was always courteous and they went out of the way in the drive thru to get things right. Today, they almost got a 2 stars, but the food came out fast and the food was good.

We stopped to get some food here after an event in town. There were two customers sitting at a table waiting on their food and an employee sitting at another table possibly on break. There were three employees standing in the back. One came up to the front after we had been waiting several minutes, grabbed something from the counter and went to the back without acknowledging us. We waited another five minutes while making occasional eye contact with the manager and decided to leave. As we were walking away the manager finally came to the front but still didn't acknowledge us. The people waiting for there food still didn't get it the whole ten minutes we were standing there. We won't be going back to this location.

This Jack does a good job of getting the food out quickly and the orders are correct. But I have noticed that the food does tend to be overcooked. Maybe it's the time of day that I go there, usually after 6 PM, but not only is the burger bun too dark, the burger patty tastes a bit burned and the curly fries are also burned a bit. Don't get me wrong, I still eat them! But a little less cooking time would make it all SO much better. Maybe a bit more training for the kitchen staff would be a good idea. I still go to this Jack in the Box, so you know it can't be that bad.

Jack and the Box is always quick with the order taking but getting the order right sometimes is a hit or miss. I only wanted a small salted caramel milk shake and breezed through the order line, but I am sure if I had ordered a meal, they probably would have gotten something wrong!

I always get after work munchies and I come here. I get the $7 munchie meals. LOL There's never a line and the guy who takes my order is always nice, service is quick, and they never screwed up on my order yet. #Winning

Nothing fancy. Same menu every where in the world. I haven't had the food yet but I'm pretty sure it's the same in low angeles. Super speedy which is always scary. But I you already know the nutritional value for ordering this late, ordering this food. Do I need to explain myself ?

So we've had this JITB a few times. Always in the lobby and always pretty good. Tonight my boyfriend went thru the drive thru at this location. They forgot his meal, messed up my burger (and the bun was totally dry), and didn't give us any sweet & sour for the eggrolls. He brought it home and I checked the bag and noticed just one burger with the eggrolls and fries, asked him where his burger was. He ended up going back and they gave him a munchie meal for forgetting his (so I will give an extra star). I didn't eat my burger until he got back so I didn't know they messed mine up or that the bun was dry and also didn't notice the s&s sauce was missing at first. And obviously I didn't want to send him back a 3rd time.... I think I prefer the one on Kapiolani + Ward.

Okay. This is a guilty pleasure. I don't ever review fast food establishments, but this one--- this one I love. This particular location has seen me through some rough times, and I love how each and every time I visit, I am greeted and assisted by the sweetest staff. Seriously. It never fails. I don't know who is responsible for staffing, but you've done a great job of picking excellent and personable people. So, thanks! (I always brag to friends that this location has the kindest staff I've ever met! Lol, is this real life?) Side note: why did you have to do away with the 2 breakfast sandwiches for $4?! I'll have to find a new favorite thing to order. The chicken sandwich on brioche is becoming a close favorite. You know I'll be back!

The employees here always interrupt you and talk over you when you are trying to tell them your order, they often screw up the order because they dont listen very annoying...always check your order here they mess it up more often then not

The best comfort food after surfing that beats inflation regardless of area cost factor over the past decade, see analyses below: Four tacos + Chicken sandwich with cheese less than $4.00 (2002) Four tacos + Chicken sandwich with cheese less than $4.00 (2013) It doesn't get any better than that. Try the Sourdough Jack!

....Not for the food, but the weirdos who dwell inside. Tonight me and my friend/co-worker were eating there and we noticed a homeless guy who just purchased four tacos. And then there was this white guy (normal looking for the most part) with a nice guitar. I noticed as I was grazing my food they eat the tacos and now go to the bathroom together. They we're in there for a long time and people couldn't get in. So when they do exit the bathroom they we're both sweaty and it now seemed that the guitar was in the homeless man possession as they both left the restaurant with the song playing in the background at this Jack In The Box at the time; James Brown "I Feel Good" on the last note of the song. So.......did the white guy get a bj from the homeless man in exchange for the guitar? What are your thoughts?

To expand my repretoire of fast food restaurants, I have stumbled upon this delightful fast food chain recently, which happens to be a regional chain at best - serving the western half the USA, not like MCD, BK, and TB. Sort of like In N Out Burgers, but this Jack in the Box has it all together. I have eaten here since I could remember having a job as a newspaper carrier back in the early 1990's and spending my money on fast food and not really thinking much of anything. 2 jumbo jacks and 2 orders of large fries per week helped me gain a good portion of my weight. It was a sad state of affairs, till I wised up. But then again, lessons in life are best learned the hard way - sometimes. With that said, I really don't like this location on S. King Street at all. Too small and just sometimes out of the way for most people. Only if you have a car, then you can partake in the speedy drive thru. It was your standard operation, just tight quarters. I must have waited 10 minutes after ordering for me to get my food, but I guess it was pretty cool to be standing in a Jack in the Box. The Jumbo Jacks are still their signature food, as with the Whopper (BK) and Big Mac (McD). I didn't want to over load that day, so I chose items on their value menu, which was the 2 tacos and an order of curly fries. I miss that seasoned curly fries. And a large chocolate shake. The parking lot is limited, so don't expect too much. You might have to drive in circles to find parking, when the lot is full. Or you can drive to the one further down - still on S. King, but next to Washington Intermediate School. That location has a better parking lot, which shares its space with the Chevron gas station. The dining area is about 2x larger than this one, so I'd recommend going to the other one. It does mimic other fast food chains. Order food, pick up food, and dine in or leave. It's the life in America, I suppose. I just may be back to try out the Jumbo Jack, just to see if it is as tasty as it was 20 years ago. Should be, I guess.

I really want to like this place because it is close to work, but time-after-time it still disappoints. The biggest issue is under-staffing. At lunch time it usually seems like they are one or two people short of a full-crew and this shortage makes for a very long service time. Standing in line to order for five minutes and waiting another five minutes for food is common. I long wait time at midnight I could understand but to be consistently slow during lunch rush seems like a huge management failure and probably a lot of the reason that many of the Jack in the Box locations in Honolulu have closed. Another gripe here is with the choke ice in a soft drink. Filling the cup 3/4 with ice for an eat-in order seems silly. So I always have to specify "easy-ice." Another management short-coming. The ultimate cheeseburger is da-bomb! Only reason I endure the long service times.

WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE FRONT LINE SERVICE INSIDE THE RESTAURANT. There was a long line. Also the bathroom smelled like there where homeless people doing the hygiene and other things in there. I dont think I will be going back there anytime soon or ever.

This location is the pits. It was crowded on a Friday morning at about 9am. So when a table opened I told my boyfriend what I wanted and nabbed the table like a ninja. I had the Breakfast Pita Pocket, it was stuffed that the eggs, bacon, cheese and ham were oozing out on the bottom. But my meal didn't come with hashbrowns, so I figured it didn't come with it. Well when my boyfriend brought the food, he was grumbling because he said the cashier had attitude. This location doesn't have self serve fountain drinks, so he had asked the cashier what soft drinks were available. I laughed because I said, we go to Jack in the Box often enough to know what we want to drink, and its pretty much the same. He said, well I thought I'd try and ask if they got Mountain Dew here. LOL! I said well what did you expect? Its just Jack in the Box. The service isn't all that. Anyways, days later at another Jack in the Box location, (School Street, Kam IV Rd). I order the same meal and I noticed on the menu it said all meal combos include hashbrowns! So hence my review for this location. I didn't get my hashbrowns! RAWR! So from now on I will make sure I get what I or my bf are paying for.

When you walk in to a fast food joint you expect the regular but this jack in the box has an amazing crew back there. The burger and chicken sandwich were on point and perfect. Yes... I know it jack in the box and they actually serve the food the way it is supposed to be served. Hot, perfect and delicious. I can also say it wasn't luck because I went a day later and the food was just as good as the first time. All I have to say is even though it is a fast food joint they set the bar higher by serving it the way it should be and not just rushed and smashed. Good job!!! I will definitely be going again when in the area.

Jacks at the corner of King and Kalakaua is one of those places I take for granted (proof: I'm only reviewing it now) because it's been around for what seems like forever. It's so close to home that I pass by it via car or bus every day. I prefer Jacks over similar joints like BK and McDonald's (exceptions: Wendy's because it's not in town, and both Taco Bell / KFC because they're not burger-themed at all). However, I don't eat at Jacks (or any fast-food restaurant, for that matter) at the same frequency or with the same enjoyment of my youth. My body just can't handle it, since I just don't want to transform into a 4' 11.5" 200-pounder anytime soon (lol). Weight concerns aside, I suppose this could be considered my preferred branch of Jacks. It's obviously the best for me, location-wise. As for service, well... they are notorious for taking forever and a day to actually give me my orders, and also for forgetting to include parts of my orders. But I guess I'm so used to it that it seems counter-productive to get upset about it each and every time. Plus, it beats having to go to the other branch at King and McCully. All in all, I love too many things on the menu (Jacks' egg rolls, breakfast sandwiches, curly fries, tacos, hash browns, buttermilk dressing and themed antenna balls) so on the rare occasion that I'm there, nothing else really matters. Four stars.

I only order their Chorizo Burrito now. If you enjoy breakfast burrtios, It is the best thing on the menu and you can order it all day or night. It's so tasty and you really don't need to get the whole meal thing because it's pretty filling.

2 Jack's spicy chicken sandwich for $5 dollars ( plus tax), why not. We decided to give it a try after the gym. No line, quite at around 5pm. The cashier was nice. The tables are clean. The chicken piece is deep fried, the thickness of the piece is about 1/5th of an inch. Much thinner than the advertised picture. The taste is OK. For a quite fix, just eat the deep fried chicken piece without the buns. It is fried chicken breast meat: white meat only!

What was I thinking? My daughter and I were out for a father-daughter shopping outing, and by the time lunchtime arrived, the really good places were too crowded for lunch. So, since we live in the desert area of the old city of Honolulu (hot, muggy, cracked sidewalks, definitely not the "Leave it to Beaver" suburbs), we came here. The white, empty walls couldn't be more depressing. Well, I guess they could be. They could be gray instead. I ordered two tacos; my lovely daughter ordered one. I also ordered a soda. The combination soda and tacos sat in my stomach like an anvil. My daughter, bless her heart, forgave me for bringing her here. Well, at least I'm cured of setting foot in this place, that is, until my next case of hunger-fueled temporary insanity kicks in again!
