I remember about 7 years ago Heidi's were located on Queen and Bishop. I wish they were still open. This place is my favorite place to eat as far as SALAD goes. Their Chicken Caeser Salad is the only place I go to if i'm in the mood of eating healthy..hahaha..but anyhow, I enjoy a salad that is not drowned with dressing and with all that good stuff that comes with the salad. They give you a bonus by serving bread with your salad..mmm good...i've had other items on the menu but I choose to have their salad only, not that its not good, its just their salad is as good as it gets ;)! Pro's -Close to my job -Salad's are awesome -Friendly service Con's -A bit pricey

Delicious vege-wrap. It comes with two wraps filled with vegetables and guacamole. Very good. Priced well and good service too.

Had the Thai Chicken Wrap...it was awful. Meat wasn't even seasoned, veggies were microwaved & peanut sauce came out if a plastic tub. I could've done better making it myself. For $8, it sucked. No flavor at all.

Seems like Heidi hasn't been spending a lot of time at her lunch counter. My overall sense was of a non-owner-present business operating too long on autopilot. I needed some comforting and Heidi's soup and sandwich special--- ham and cheese panini with corn chowder for about $7.50 --- looked like it would give me a hug. What's more comforting to a mainland New England haole than ham and cheese and corn chowder, right?? The servers were pleasant... but the corn chowder was bland and under seasoned, and the panini was well toasted on the outside but the cheese was still unmelted inside. The overall feeling of the counter is dated, they had a green health inspection "pass" poster prominently displayed, but the front of the microwave oven didn't look so great. Overall it was OK, but nothing made me want to return.

A few blocks away from my office and hidden in a little food alley in the pioneer plaza, I stumbled across this little shop serving soups, sandwiches and salads. My friend wanted to go here because she used to like their salads. I ordered their soup and sandwich special for under $8. It came with a tuna melt Panini. The bread was toasted crisp, with tuna, cheese and tomatoes. Don't expect a lot of filling but surprisingly, the Panini itself filled me up. I tried the clam chowder which was good but a little too watery for a chowder. I loved the chunks of potatoes in there though. My friend ordered her salad, half Caesar and half greek. She ate the greek salad and enjoyed it but did not care for the sour tasting Caesar. :-( All in all, it was a mixed bag. But if I were in the area again, I'd give them another try. The staff was friendly and very quick (I'd give them 4 stars).

I ordered the sandwich soup combo. I got the tuna panini, despite sitting in the panini grill the sandwich was cold, cheese was melted. It was average at best. I got the clam chowder, which really should be advertised as potato soup with a hint of clam. Soup was bland and grainy (clams needed to be cleaned better) also I found a hair in my soup. Lastly the brownie was more sugar then it was chocolate. Also huge cockroach in the display, man tried to hide it from me as he removed it but I saw it. I know insects are forgiveable to a certain degree here in Hawaii but combined with my cold panini, hairy soup, and overly sugared brownie it was a bit much.

I love deli's, so I can tell you when I find a good sammy! I've had a half dozen varieties of sandwiches here and some salads. I like their combo deals which are usually a half sandwich and salad. It'll cost you $7-9 bucks depending on what you order, but it's not uncommon for lunch downtown. I really like the roasted eggplant and grilled zucchini on rye and their turkey melt is pretty good. It's simply fresh bread with fresh ingredients. It's pretty quick to pick up and go. The sign is pretty hard to read, so pick up a printed menu to read through when you have time (it's pretty extensive).

I just paid $8 for some lady to manhandle a roast beef sandwich with her bare hands, using costco ingredients, heating up the roast beef on a dirty reused ceramic plate in the microwave. Didn't even get any chips. Should of just went to Subway. Check out Mix Cafe if you are interested in paying $8 for a sandwich; they put thought and effort into selling a good product.

So this place is not bad. But every time I go here, I'm just a little "meh". I never receive stellar customer service, they're always sort of in a rush (which is understandable in rush hour lunch traffic in downtown), but today there was 1 other person in line with me, and still they were kind of grumpy pants. I'm not ok with this. I also think it's pretty pricey (not Aloha Salads kinda pricey, but kind of up there, say $6.50 a sandwich), so if I do eat there, I opt for whatever is on special. For around $8 I got a turkey reuben panini and a fairly large soup! I was ecstatic to see that they had corn chowder! But sadly, I was left disappointed. I was expecting yummy creamy goodness, but instead got gloppy, gelatinous, mediocrity. It was very clumpy, like the roux did not get mixed well, and other than the taste of flour and a potato here and there, there was no flavor. AND, my panini'd sandwich was cold and unmelted on the inside. It's like they only panini'd the bread! If something is going in a panini, it better come out cheese melted! I probably won't come back here for awhile. The food is just ok. And for the money, you might as well go to the 10 billion other places in downtown to eat. Keep in mind however, I've never had a salad from here. Maybe that's their strong suit?

Love the LA Express. It was the first thing I got from there and now I have a hard time trying something different.

I've had quite a few of their sandwiches and salads and for the most part, the food is average - I usually come here when I don't want to make the long trek to Cafe Grazi or Le Crepe Cafe or want more than soup and salad from San Francisco Salad Company next door. I usually get any of the sandwiches that have avocado in it ~ I tried the turkey pesto panini, that wasn't so good. I think mostly because they use regular bread for the panini and were pretty stingy with the pesto. The pasta salad is pretty good, just the right amount of dressing! Some of the ladies working there are nice, some might be stressed and don't seem happy to be there - but for the most part, they're cool with me!

I visit Heidi's for lunch about every other month or so and usually order the Combo Salad with Chicken Caesar and Pasta Salads or the Panini Combo, depending on which panini is part of the daily special. The food here is simple. Sandwiches are all made to order and the Chicken Caesar Salad is tossed when you order. The prices are a bit high for what you get so don't get suckered into getting the garlic bread with your salad order. It's not a complimentary accompaniment. They also have an assortment of baked goods, including breads, muffins, cookies, and brownies. I am always tempted to try their baked goods as I wait for my panini get toasty in the panini press, but always decide against it. They look good from afar, but look kind of dry after a closer look. One day I should just try one before passing further judgment. All in all, I come here for lunch because it's convenient and the food is simple and fast.

Love this place! Especially since it's a walking distance away from my work place. They have all sorts of sandwiches, bagels, paninis, salads and more! They also make really delicious homemade soup. My favorite is the corn chowder filled with lots of corn, big chunks of potatoes and carrots! I recommend ordering a combo which is either half sandwich (which are filling just by itself!) and soup or half salad and soup. Only downfall is that it's a little bit on the pricier side but the quality and taste is all worth it :)

Simple lunch: sandwiches, salads, or wraps. Generous portions, but their prices are still a bit steep for my taste. I ordered the L.A. Express: turkey, tomato, avocado, Swiss cheese, and sprouts on wheat for $7.25. Add in 2-bottles of water and my total was $9.77.

First time visit today. Service was quick and friendly. And their salads are huge. :)
