My boss likes to come here cause they have reasonable prices and some good food? But last week I ordered the bulgogi and I got food poisoning. So I called the next morning to let them no and the owner was just saying sorry after I yelled at him. Then I hung up the phone then 5 minutes later he calls back and told me sorry again and that they cooked the food on Sunday and I ordered it Monday afternoon at 1:00 pm so who knows where it was and how long it was out????? Never going back

My fiancee the elite finds this place as we're near the airport @nd gave this place a try. And we're glad we did! I am extremely happy and food was "broke da mouth." Prices are super reasonable and the portions are so big they use a rubber band to keep the box closed!! We met the owner (Dave?) and he gave us a good run down on how his wife (the cook) cooks and genuinely asked us how we felt about the food. He was very polite and was interested on what we had to say (all good things of course!) We were very pleasantly surprised at the taste, price, and portions of this place! We will definitely be back again! If you're looking for a great place to eat in the Nimitz / Airport industrial area, give this place a shot!! We WILL be back!

Visited here this past Friday, March 12, 2010. We had: * Shrimp Scampi Fetuccine plate - rating: 2 stars. * Lau lau plate (with a tossed salad?) - rating: 2 stars * Cajun Grilled Ahi & Shrimp plate - rating: 4 stars * Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich & Fries - rating: 4 stars Note, the mac salad is perfect. Cool, creamy and simple with no surprises. Prices are incredibly cheap and portions are "truck driver" huge, hence their name. The meat in the philly cheese steak was packed with flavor (fatty, with a nice char on it and super tender. I highly recommend the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. My friend also raved about the Cajun Grilled Ahi and Shrimp, noting the shrimp were just as good if not better than the ones from the shrimp trucks. I tried a piece of the Cajun Grilled Ahi, and that was the bomb as well. The seasoning makes it almost taste like a beef steak, not fish. It looks like they change the menu daily, as there wasn't a set menu board, but only what's temporarily written on a dry-erase bulletin board set-up on an easel. I added pictures in the photo section of the dishes mentioned above. Yelp Team, please correct Driver's Diner's business information. The correct current address is 3006 Ualena Street, and their current phone number is 836-1575.

There's some interesting finds on Ualena Street. Among a hub of industrial businesses, there are a few food finds that includes Driver's Diner. A homey hole in the wall that is a cross between L&L's and your Filipino aunty's living room. We ordered the Pork Adobo & Pork Guisantes plate lunches that came with the usual two scoops rice & mac or toss salad. Delicious stuff and obviously made with love. Perfect flavor with acceptable fat to meat ratio. A unique find down a rather odd street.

Went here for lunch today since we were done working. This is the home base for the Joe's Lunch wagon around the airport area. You get all the food that the lunch wagon serves in a nice a/c'd dining area. Fast service and good. My friend had the seafood gumbo. He liked it. Eh, for $5.50 how can you go wrong. i had the Chicken Cesear Salad. They gave a bunch of chicken katsu pieces on the romaine lettuce. dressing on the side $5.50. Good food at great price. Your local plate lunch place. 2 scoops rice, mac or toss salad and entree. G

Tried it for the first time Monday, had steak and shrimps with green salad. Took a little while for them get my order right as the Korean lady doesn't really understand much English...? They first gave me steak caesar salad, then gave me steak n shrimp with rice n Mac... Uhhh... I ordered steak n shrimp m green salad . :/ but when they finally gave me the right order, food was good. There were 6 pieces of shrimps n steak. I was happy. Then went back again on Thursday n ordered the same thing. This time they gave me the right order the first try but there was only 3 shrimps... I was not happy... :( Then I went back for breakfast n it was good. :-)

This Local Plate Lunch place which also operates several wagons relocated to a clean & roomy space at: 3006 Ualena St # B Honolulu, HI 96819 I don't have any street cred on this type of establishment... what I can tell is that the Sirloin & Garlic Shrimp plate for $6.50 is much better than the equivalent at L&L Drive In... and the portions are huge... 8 oz of steak & 8 large shrimp. I can also tell you that co-workers more familiar with Local Plate Lunch places have made this their go to lunch joint.

This place is perfect for anyone working near the airport. There isn't really much available parking so get some exercise and head over. The prices are affordable and a real bargain in these times. The owner is a really nice guy and his food tastes great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone tired of eating overpriced and underwhelming food.

Ok, So I went back to this place again today to try a slice of pumpkin crunch cake made painstakingly by the hands of Jane G. : yelp.com/user_details?us… Excellent piece of work, this cake is. Better than the one i used to get at Aiea Bowl, as she said it would be. Check out her profile and you can see some of the other tasty desserts she creates. "S"

This place is cheap and yummy. CHEAP AND YUMMY! A lot of the plates here are under $6 and they are HUUUUGE and CHEEAAAP and YUUUMMYYY!!! So far, everything we've ordered has been amazing. I love that you can request mashed potatoes instead of rice and tossed salad instead of mac salad. I know, I'm weird. This is Hawaii... who prefers mashed potatoes over rice? Well, sometimes I do. We usually call before we place our order so we can hear all the specials.

Good local food. Breakfast is cheap and large. Plate lunches show a little more personal touch than usual. Good stuff!

I happened upon this place while I walked from the airport since I caught a ride with my wife, I was heading to Uhaul to pick up a van to haul stuff for a show I don't mind walking as it gives me a chance to visit new places and to see things. I stopped by to have breakfast here and basically got the standard portugese sausage breakfast the Guy at the counter was very friendly and told me that the coffee was free, Cool! except that they ran out of cups, aww.. but I could use the styrofoam soup bowl.. Wow, That was interesting :-) I've never had coffee in a soup bowl before! This made the place memorable to me heh! The food was good nothing to complain about the fact that the coffee was free is a good bonus, although you don't normally get the coffee in the soup bowl it just made the place more memorable to me and I'll have to come back and try lunch now :-)

I really miss the Filipino owners before the Koreans came. I still think the original cook is here because the pork Adobo fried rice still taste Ono. Before it use to always be soo busy and hard to find parking but now there's lots of parking, and hardly any customers. The prices are great and I still eat there.

Working in the airport area limits my lunch choices; since Drivers Diner Has opened I have a great new lunch option with good food at a good price. They have really great plate lunches; Thursdays my whole office looks forward to the corned beef Drivers offers. Chicken cordon bleu with mushroom gravy was really nice too. A little place with limited parking they are always packed at lunch. Fridays they seem to have Hawaiian food such as Laulau and Kalua pig as well as the traditional Hawaiian plate. They also have different specials everyday and one thing I really enjoy is the specials are not just combo's or lower priced standard items but different dishes entirely. The low price "5.50 to 6.50 per plate" and great food make me and my coworkers come back frequently. The current Address is 3006 Ualena St # B Honolulu, HI 96819 as Eat N. pointed out.

I am always looking for good deals. Over the years its been hard to find. Most plate lunches are over 6 to 8 bucks. Gee I remember the day I could get a full plate not a mini for $5.50. Yelp find me something good.....wait what is this a new place near the airport. I know must be ghetto and can't be good if it is near the airport. For those of you have not ventured near the airport to grindz well you will find some great places to check out. I am glad I had the opportunity to check out Driver's Diner. From the guess of the name, I'm thinking maybe a truck stop diner. Maybe but I decided to go there on my day off and found this cute diner located next to MItch's sushi Trust me it looks a lot nicer inside then it does inside. The first thing that caught my eye was the prices. As I mentioned almost the entire menu is $5.50. From the reviews, it said to try the steak sandwhich and for $5.50 it comes with soup (corn chowder) or french fries. Don't get me wrong, you will not be overwhelmed with iron chef like qualities but I must admit I would pay over $6 for this meal. There you go the qualify of a local plate lunch is,,,,,would you pay more for what its worth. This place is a great example of it. There is so much I want to try on the menu. Yes they actual have Filipino food such as chicken papaya. The guy after me ordered the meatloaf and even he was surprised how big the portion was. He must have liked it because he didn't even breath eating it. The menu is filled with local favorites and ethnic food. This is one of those places you have to see and try to believe it yourself. Bottom line is I enjoyed the food and walked away with more money in my wallet. It is these kind of places that made me realize what a wonderful thing yelp is. So many places would not be discovered without yelp. We are the explorers of the 21st century willing to venture unchartered lands to share to the rest of the world. Okay I'm getting dramatic but $5.50 plate lunches gets me emotional. Yelp stake your claim and visit this new treasure called Driver's Diner. Where is my YELP flag? I'm too emotional to create my usual slogan plus I can't think of any word that rhymes with diner....I know finer but I swear that sounds like another slogan. Gotta watch myself this is a BIG CITY and I don't want to steal any slogans. By the way go eat at DRIVER'S DINER.

They have the same food over and over again. When they first opened they were great. The quality of food has gone down hill drastically since then. I have bought plate lunches from them and the meat was raw. All their menus are the same. Gravy over something. I wish i could give 0 stars. It is cheap and they give HUGE plates, but you get what you pay for. The taste is not worth the price. They started using lower quality meats as well.

We skipped this other place and came here instead. Nice little place on the corner of Ualena and Ohohia st. I had the mix plate with kalbi and spicy pork with a side of kim chee. The plate was big and it had some weight to it in the bag. The kal bi was good but the spicy pork was lacking the spicy part. Kim chee was on the sweet side with just the right amount of heat. The tables in here look like they came from Camellia. The ones with the grill in the middle. The guy said the will be up and running in a month or so. I guess it something to look forward to. Nice and friendly customer service. I kinda got a kick from the sign they had on the wall as you enter. I wonder who obeys that sign.

Food was ok but they didn't have some of the things which they had listed on the menu such as the Fried Chicken with stew or Garlic baked chicken. Typical plate lunch take out place. Everyone raves about the Philly Cheese steak sandwich. Maybe will try that next time if they have it.

Pretty solid little place, nothing too crazy or fancy but it's not bad for what it is. My favorite is the Pork Adobo omelet but I haven't been here too many times as I just started working nearby just a few weeks ago. Prices are a little on the high side but I think it's just because I'm older and remember when prices were cheaper, so the price of everything went up and is "expensive" ha ha. Pleasant person behind the counter and it's not very busy so you don't have to wait long for your food, they offer Korean food starting early in the morning and have a pretty decently large menu now that I'm thinking about it.

Great place to eat, but kind of in an obscure location near the airport. Spotless every time I go in even though it's a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Also found out that it was run by a Korean couple, but the husband passed away recently and so the wife is running the business completely on her own. Condolences! Will be showing my support by going more often!

So good! I wandered over here while my car was being serviced and I had the best chicken of my LIFE! Baked garlic chicken with gravy. A heaping portion too! With rice and pasta salad. plenty to choose from the menu and daily specials. Great for the price and the staff is super friendly. Clean inside too! I'll definitely be back! Mmmm
