I love their Cheesesteaks. I've had the really good ones in Philly, New York, NJ and this is the closest, in my opinion, to the real thing. Sounds funny being that this is a fast food/franchise store but the overall quality is pretty good. Nice soft fresh bread, fresh veggies, nice portion of meat, the cheese is soft and stretchy (some places use those neon orange fake powdered cheese but not here!) and the best part is they make the Subs right in front of you. You can have the sub the way you like it - no tomatoes? no problem. No mayo? No problem. They also have lots of great deals and coupons. They will either hand you a little coupon depending on the promotion they have, or check the back of your receipt and sometimes they have an offer where they ask you to answer a quick survey online and you can get free fries/drink with a purchase of a sandwich - not bad right? Try them when you're at Ala Moana Center :)

Charley's is a good fast food sandwich alternative, serving a variety of Philly cheesesteak like sandwiches. The gourmet fries and lemonade are what a mainly come here for, though, as the cheesesteaks just can't compare to the real thing. The closest thing to real Philly Cheesesteaks you'll find in Hawaii comes from Ono Cheesesteaks in Waikiki. While the food is decent from Charley's, the service is anything but. On my last visit here I ordered a meal for myself and a sandwich and drink for my fiancee. The employee repeated the order back to me and announced the order to the kitchen. I got my two drinks quickly and got my fries relatively quickly too. However, the kitchen gave me only one sandwich. When I looked at the recent, I was only charged for one so the second wasn't made. So I went back to re-order the second sandwich. The employee questioned why I was ordering the same sandwich again when I just got the other one. I explained to her what had happened and just got a stink look... not even a "sorry" or anything like that. Such a problem is better than getting over charged but really?? Do you have to give me stink eye because you screwed up??

The service is fast, but the workers are really rude and have no patience! The food is good, but you don't get what you pay for because the portions are small.

I had the deluxe philly cheesesteak and the deluxe fries. It was $13 for a very sub par cheesesteak that was not only lacking in flavor but also in amount of ingredients. A cheesesteak should be 50-50 bread to ingredient ratio at the very least, this 'cheesesteak' was 20 ingredients - 80 bread. The fries were good, but for the price not worth it. Too much money for very subpar food. I was left very underwhelmed and feeling like I wanted to eat something else.

Absolutely horrible. Avoid at all costs. Complete waste of money absolute rip off. The fact that they could even write gourmet on the box of fries and drown it in liquid kraft cheese makes me cringe.

I imagine the market is the same target market as Subways. Unfortunately Subway does everything better by offering more options and fresher ingredients. Their fries are also way too expensive. On the plus side, their service is fast. 3 stars given the price and what you can get.

Staff- super friendly- they take all the time in the world to help tourists- which from someone that lives here - I appreciate that. The women are wonderful at showing full menus and helping all of the customers. They are great. The food is (again in my opinion) small portioned. I want a huge sandwich!!!!!! they provide more than reasonable portions (I don't want to be reasonable - it is my lunch break!). The food though is great- grilled right before your eyes- wonderful. Fries are freshly fried and great with a little sauce. Add bacon- can't go wrong. They are subs so it is better than burgers if you are sick of burgers. (which is sometimes the case for me too even - sad I know) Food and service - they are good.

The incredibly rude teenage looking boy working at the counter of this establishment offered me a sample. I thought I would partake since I have never eaten here. He picked all the samples and found the most meager looking piece he could pick up as if to find it funny and handed it to me. I still proceeded to order a Philly cheesesteak and against my better judgment. He was also working the grill. The food was cooked poorly and he was incredibly lacking of any good manners and his treatment of up of customers. It seems to me that this young fellow is in high school and clearly needs some lessons on customer service

I'm hungry! No I'm not! I just can't decide what to eat and I look up OMG! Thats It! I always past by Charley's and never felt the need to eat a sub, but today would be the day. I order a Philly Cheesesteak with provolone cheese, tomatoes, grilled onions on top of a grilled bun. My order came out really fast and I found a seat and stared at the sandwich for a couple of seconds. Thoughts ran through my head looking at the melted cheese on top of the thinly sliced meat, this has to be bad for you but who cares! My review of my sandwich: After my initial bite....Damm I should have ordered the LARGE! It was tasty! Love the grilled bread Love the cheese Love that a simple sandwich could taste so good! BE BACK FOR THE LARGE!

Had the philly cheese steak sandwich, fries and lemonade. Sandwich didn't have too much steak and cheese in it. Fries tasted like they were previously frozen. But lemonade was really good. Really don't like it when they give you ketchup in those stupid little packets and when they don't give you enough. This happens to be one of those places. Wished this place would serve ketchup in the bottle or in dispensers. Don't think I'll be back here or at any other franchise location.

As I stand in the Ala Moana Food Court, looking at all my different options I think to myself, "Pizza? Mexican? Asian?" So I decide to walk around to explore my options and then suddenly I hear "samples!" And I look, and there is someone holding a tray of cheesesteaks and I think "why not." And then as soon as I eat one it sucks me in and makes me decide to eat here... again. It happens every time. So what is it exactly that wins me over? First off, I'm a sucker for a perfectly cooked cheesesteak and they know what they're doing here at Charley's. The perfectly toasted bun (that they send through a conveyor belt toaster) that gives it that warm crunch, but it's still a little soft in the middle. Then you get to choose what kind of meat and toppings you want in the sandwich. I usually go for either the philly steak deluxe or the chicken deluxe. It's the works with mushrooms, green peppers, grilled onions, and provolone cheese. There are other options you can choose from like a steak siciline sandwich (with pepporoni and provolone) or chicken cordon bleu sandwich (with ham and swiss cheese). I haven't tried anything but the deluxe cheesesteaks because I want to keep it simple and straight to the point, but I'm sure all sandwiches are just as good. I don't know how they make everything taste so wonderful (because there are places that just need that certain something), but whatever they do keep doing it. On top of that if there are two of you just get the large sandwich instead of buying 2 seperate sandwiches (it's basically like 2 sandwiches) and it'll save you a couple of bucks. And then the icing on the cake is their fries! O.M.G. they are fry-tastic. What sets this place apart from other places is that their fries are made fresh-to-order. As soon as they call the order BOOM, they're down in that fryer. I mean what service! And if you order the gourmet fries you get to choose the toppings that go on it. You can choose from a) cheddar b) cheddar and bacon c) ranch and bacon or d) and my personal favorite, all of the above. What completes this meal? Their freshly squeezed lemonade of course!! Choose from plain lemonade, kiwi lemonade, or rasberry lemonade. It's 12pm right now and after writing this I think I know where I'm going for lunch today... do you??

After searching high and low for the mythical Hawaiian Shawarma, we land at the unlikeliest of Charley's Grilled Philly Cheesesteak subs. In the food court. Amusing? Yes. Tasty? Yes? Shawarma? Well...if you minus the cheese and mayo and add some hummus and tahini, yes! The large size sandwich $10 fills an entire plate lunch styrofoam box. Yes, the Entire Thang! I enjoyed the Philly Cheesesteak Deluxe which comes with cheese, onion, bell pepper and mushroom, Regular Size for $7, filling a box about two-thirds large size. "Gourmet" fries? Well, for $4 you get a complete heart attack on a plate! Steak fries loaded with nacho cheese and bacon bits. Not my favorite. But HUGE. Lemonade $2.89 = good and drinkable. Does not taste of high fructose like many another lemonade I could mention. All in all, a good meal, will return.

There's something about the huge arse Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches here. Is it the soft bread or the grilled steak and onions? The melted cheese? Not sure, but smash all of that hot grilled melted goodness together and it's plain BoyzIIMenMotownPhillyBackA-gain great! To me, this is one of the better Philly Cheesesteaks on the island, but then again that may or may not say much (because of the actual sparsity of places serving it, which is too bad for us). Fortunately, at least this one place can satisfy your Philly needs. It's a bit on the spendy side, a large cheesesteak sandwich being $9.99. It can relatively almost feed two people. Add fries and a drink to that for an additional cost and that would satisfy you and your friend. They also have frequent buyer punch cards. Buy seven, get a small eighth for free.

I used to eat here all the time because the bread is soft and the sandwiches are yummy. I haven't eaten in the food court for years. I ended up here because I have family in town and we needed to eat fast so we could shop. Of course Charlie's caught my eye. Mmm bacon cheese fries. The bf and I shared a bacon three cheese and it was to die for. We were that hungry so we split a regular with bacon cheese fries and a strawberry lemonade. The fries were crispy even though it was loaded with cheese. The thinly sliced meat covered in cheese and mushrooms hit the spot. Totally have a craving to eat there again. See you next time. Tip: get ranch on the side.

So I thought we were going for a jog or hike after work. Well, didn't happen because we got hungry. Fail to workout and ended up pigging out instead. Hungry and starving we headed to the food court. I felt like eating a sandwich and my friend recommended this place. We order the large philly cheesesteak with 3 types of cheese and bacon I think. Oh boy, that's a lot of cheese! It was crunchy and good. But don't think I'll eat there again. I'm so glad we shared that sandwich because I was real full. Their fries were chunky and no seasoning. We saw them make it fresh but not crispy tasting. It's pretty pricey for that meal. The sandwich, fries, and a drink cost $11.

Good subs. I'm not sure where else to get a cheesesteak sub so I go to Charley's. Always tastes great. The fries were just okay though. I am not a fan of the cup as a container for fries because you can't get the seasoning on the ones at the bottom. They hide the ketchup behind the counter, not sure why they don't have a large container of it with the mustard and other condiments which are on the counter. They also always have a sample of something usually chicken or turkey.

Came here this past Saturday for a bite. Service was good, got my order pretty quick considering. I ordered the deluxe Philly cheese steak sandwich, "gourmet" fries, and a drink. The sandwich tasted good enough, as far as I could tell, although they are REALLY tight on the fillings! There was MAYBE a third of what a real sandwich should have as for the amount of stuff in it! So not worth the Ala Moana price tag! This was the saddest Philly cheese steak sandwich I've ever had!!! As for the fries, they give plenty but they're nothing special - the toppings tasted generic like they came fresh from a can.

Got a traditional Philly cheesesteak and the ultimate fries. Both were good, but not amazing. If there is a next time, I'm going to see if they can add chili to the ultimate fries to truly make them ultimate! The fries were yummy, but you can tell the quality of the potato wasn't anything special. Hard to not like fries with bacon, cheese and ranch! If I could have them any way, I would do the same with a higher grade potato, and use real cheese instead of a liquid nacho cheese. Perhaps even seasoned fries to start? Add chili!?! Yum! As for the cheesesteak, I like how they have so many different varieties. I always like to start with the original, which I did. I also like how their preparation area is in plain view, kind of fun to watch them to prepare the food. They use frozen beef. I could imagine how amazing the sandwiches would taste of the ingredients were fresh. Good bun, and nothing stand out about the shredded iceberg lettuce or tomato. I don't think I'll go back, but the food wasn't bad, I would rather spend my money on something I find more amazing

Walking through the mall can make a girl hungry, and wouldn't you know it I was craving a sub: So I ordered the #1, which is a philly cheesesteak, bacon and cheese fries, and a drink, which came out to roughly $12! Yikes! Did not start off so great with the crazy high prices. But like I said, I was hungry for that philly, so I paid up. The cheesesteak and fries actually weren't too bad, I mean its the mall, so my expectations weren't too high, BUT here's why I went for 2 stars instead of 3: While I was waiting for my food, the local brother working the grill kept running his mouth about working there. "blah blah blah, and they're only paying me minimum for this $H!t!", BRAH, then quit! You're making it uncomfortable for everybody standing here waiting for they're crazy expensive food. Here the deal Charley's: If you're gonna charge me an arm and a leg to eat you're subs at least pay the guy decently for running your grill. That way he's happy, and you're customers aren't left staring uncomfortably at the ground.

We went to Charleys on Friday for lunch, and boy were we disappointed. My husband had a Philly Cheesesteak, and I had a BBQ cheddar sandwich. My sandwich was not even warm enough to melt the cheese, and it was dry and lackluster. We each got gourmet fries-- my husband had the cheese and bacon, and I had the "ultimate" fries. The fries should be a little bit crispier to be able to hold up to all those sauces; the ones under the most of it all were totally soggy. My husband's fries were good, mine were odd, but that was mostly my fault for thinking that ranch dressing would be good on French fries. Spoiler alert: it is not. We knew it was a splurge to order over thirty dollars' worth of food for lunch, but we thought we'd be getting our money's worth in tasty, toasty sandwiches and decadent fries. Huge, huge bummer, and we will definitely skip this one the next time we're at Ala Moana.

It's 12pm right now and after writing this I think I know where I'm going for lunch today... do you??
