Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Burger King is my favorite fast-food chain restaurant. I like their flame grilled burgers, the ingredients they put on top, the taste and style of the french fries, the unsweetened iced tea option, Coke Icees, and special sandwiches. This is an airport location, so obviously all the prices are inflated. Regardless, the restaurant is clean and very efficient, which can sometimes be a necessity. The staff is always friendly, regardless of time of day. There is plenty of seating, all overlooking the taxiing planes. Sauces are free. Refills on drinks are allowed by request. Food is consistent with other locations. Note: unlike stand-alone restaurants, they limit breakfast to morning hours and lunch is only available thereafter. It's my usual pre-flight stop at HNL.

Airport eateries are generally poor and pricey. This didn't disappoint on price. PRICEY. But I'll admit that my whopper was tasty. Could be that I was super hungry at the time and anything would have been ravaged. The fries were a lot better than I remember but then again it's been a loooooong time since I last had a BK, possibly not even this millennium!! Did a job ahead of the flight back to the mainland.

Stay away from this particular location. We are vegetarians, we don't eat meat. Any kind of meat. They had a vegetarian burger in the menu which is basically a veggie pattie and onions etc., I placed the order for 3 veggie burgers in my group. While doing so, I emphasized the fact we want no meat on that. I told this twice to the guy who took my order. He did not like that, he replied 'in a veggie burger, vegetable is the meat. We don't put any other meat' I got the order after few min, 2 of them were actually veggie burgers and one was a fish burger. I went back and questioned the guy who was so confident and rude to me. He said, 'mistake happens, we are humans.' This is the rudest response and experience I got in any of the fast food chains in USA. Vegetarians stay away from this particular shop. This one sucks big time.

The most I've ever paid for fast food in my life. There is dollar menu either. All the meals are $10 and up. Nothing under $5 for a burger or sandwich

    (1)
  • Marko C.

Roaches in the food! Honest to goodness, I was eating my BK whopper combo and out comes a little Hawaiian roach from my sandwich. Disgusting. I am too far to walk to return it.

    (1)
  • Rebecca H.

Meh. Everything is cold, greasy, and expensive. Plan at least ten dollars per person. My kid even refused the French fries, a first. Truly blah.

    (1)
  • Sally V.

Terrible service, employees are not happy people. They look like they are mad. The only normal, not mad looking employee there was a man working there. They messed up my order too.

    (2)
  • Serena M.

Worst service ever! The line was so long and yet they still had one person taking the orders, one person bagging the items, and one person cooking. Definitely not fast food.

    (1)
  • Jaena J.

The only reason I reviewed this restaurant with one star is because zero stars wasn't an option. This place was absolutely Horrible. Totally overpriced, rude service, and the food was just plain gross. The only good things about this place was that it was open. I was with 5 other people and we all got stomach aches almost immediately after eating here.

    (1)
  • Jeremy B.

None of the airport food is great, it's the airport. But if you must eat at the airport, this place isn't a ripoff. There's plenty of options, but at least BK is familiar. No one comes to the airport food the food, we're there for the planes.

    (3)
  • Angelo A.

How does one describe a short, but long, line?? Only two people in line ahead of me but it still takes TEN MINUTES to order ?!?!?! And all I wanted was an order of fries!!!! Granted, once ordered, I got them in no time flat, but I still can't get over that damn 10 minutes lost forever. Oh well. I was on vacation, I didn't miss my flight and my twins DEVOURED the fries.

  • Grace N.

Worst service of Burger King in entire United States, supper slow, employee is lazy and impolite.

    (1)
  • Sebastian M.

Burger King at the HNL airport is expensive compared to locations outside of the airport! But that is not what I am ranting about...the lady who took my order was rather rude. A lady before me was in line and they were conversing in Ilocano. They took a while which I didn't mind. They held on a conversation about 3 minutes after the lady has made her order. As I was on my iPhone 6 plus, the customer behind me wanted to see my phone because she was interested in getting it for herself. The conversation got interesting and then her husband introduced himself and jumped into our conversation. Keep in mind out conversation went on for about 2 minutes. Then the lady taking orders called me rudely and said, with an attitude, are you ready to order? Like really, you take the time to talk with another customer and the moment I start conversion with a customer you act all insulted and have an attitude. We are already paying for expensive food, the least you candy is be pleasant!

    (1)
  • Greg Y.

The prices are "airport" prices...meaning $12 for a standard whopper combo. The lady who rang me up was very nice and efficient. The reason for three stars is the thickness of the meat. Honestly it looked like I got a kids burger patty instead of a "whopper". I have a feeling it was the case and they don't expect anybody to notice or complain.

    (3)
  • Irene L.

Bad service and they got our order wrong! Make sure you open it and check what you got and not just by looking at the wrapper!

    (1)
  • Douglas T.

Rude and lazy! Clearly advertises Burgers for breakfast so I order Whopper meal @ 5:45 am. Lady says, "No were not ready. Maybe ready by 6:30am." You have to order breakfast only" I know it does not take 45 min. to microwave a burger patty. I could understand if they were busy but I was the only person there. They had nothing else to do. I left with nothing.

    (1)
  • Jason J.

it's your regular BK menu, plus a few bucks. then again you are in the airport so maybe it deserves a 3 star review. there are like 5 BK's in the airport, so you can't really go hungry here, but you're better off dropping some more coin at kona brewco. ok fine, a 2 star, since they don't have a $1 menu.

    (2)
  • Jameson S.

This place is ridiculously expensive. But then again, everything at the airport is ridiculously expensive. Overlooking the prices, I was pleasantly surprised at how fast and efficient the service was here. The gentleman behind the register was able to multitask effortlessly.

    (4)
  • Ryan H.

There is not a lot to say. It seemed a little dirty, a little expensive, and the service was a little slow. Had to grab a little breakfast before an early flight.

I am Yelping the Burger King in Honolulu because it is the FIRST Burger King (or fast food burger chain) I have been to that has A VEGGIE BURGER!!!!!! You have absolutely NO IDEA how fantastic this was! I didn't have to order a burger without the burger. I actually got some substance!!!!!! So awesome. Way to go Burger King in HNL!

    (4)
  • Rachel A.

I always get the same thing here, chicken tenders. It's usually at hit or miss. Sometimes they are delicious and others taste like cardboard. The one great thing about this Burger King is that it's in a food court which means...FREE refills. It says one refill, but for the price who's really watching!

    (3)
  • Niesha M.

This is an expensive a.z.z. Burger King! And I thought the ones here in Cali were expensive! I ate at this location back in 2006 when my mom and I traveled here. Man, the Value Meals are damn near 7 and 8 dollars! When the commercials say in fine print 'Prices higher in Hawaii', they ain't lying!

    (2)
  • Mary C.

Who opens only one register during the height of the lunch time crunch? They do. Our flight from AZ had just landed. Many of us were waiting for flights to the neighbor islands. Add that to the interisland travelers and airport staff and you have one hell of a long line where people have no choice but to wait because they're hungry and tired. With that said, the food was expensive ( what airport food isn't?) but hot and tasty. What was heartbreaking was listening to a father and his two sons (one a preteen and the other about 8) discuss the high prices. The preteen was in distress, especially when he saw that the $1.29 whopper jr. back home costs $3.59 here! Don't even ask about the chicken nuggets. "Is everything here so expensive?" he asked his dad. What a sad first impression of Hawaii. Long lines. Slow service. And high prices. My husband and daughter gave their business to the Chinese place next door vowing never again to spend a cent at Burger King. Just because you can charge exorbitant prices doesn't mean you should.

    (2)
  • Valerie C.

Good food, good service, crazy expensive prices. Paying double digits for a fast food meal hurts, but the chicken burger and buffalo tenders we had were good! (The tenders were a little small though).

    (3)
  • David P.

Only 1 cashier super slow people are just walking out of line very poor staffing! I might miss my flight at Least 20 min just to order! Whatever I'm going to miss my flight now I'm out also! really wanted a whopper!

    (1)
  • Brandon Y.

I suppose I should expect high prices at an airport, but $12 for a chicken tender meal is a bit too pricy for me - maybe should have opted for another place in the food court. In addition to that, flight was boarding in three minutes and the chicken took a bit less than ten minutes to come out. To top all of this off, b/c I rushed in to my flight, didn't end up eating until we could pull the tray tables down and of course, by then, food was cold and fries were soggy. Perhaps this is mostly on me and being on time, but I'd call it a BK-fail.

    (1)
  • Daniel K.

Super expensive as expected in an airport. A lack of choices leaves you to the airport monopoly money prices. The service here was sub-par, but then again it's Burger King. I would stick with bringing your own food and save $10 a meal.

    (2)
  • Terry F.

Absolutely the nicest food court staff I have ever met. Both the order taker and the person giving us our order. Usually the best I would give fast food is a three, especially when your burger is $7.00, but, hey , they were really nice!

    (4)
  • Arynn I.

Great service, fast. Food was HOT and fries were freshly made. It's Burger King so the flavors and taste are what I expected. :) Very efficient fast food place and in a convenient place at the airport. Just after you go through security. The tables were all clean and ready for patrons and the nicest little old man was taking out the trash with a smile. My fast meal here was a pleasant one and nice before a plane trip. #Yelp 365 Challenge-112/365

Guess what happens when you stay up all night messing around and don't pack your bags till 15 minutes before you need to check in....YOU RUN OUT OF TIME TO BUY A PLATE LUNCH FOR THE PLANE! With a 6AM checkin I ended up just barely making my flight, but I was hungry and wasn't sure if we were getting fed breakfast or lunch way later on the plane. Stopped by the Burger King in the airport and I knew I was gonna pay arm and leg prices for an airport spot but didn't think it was gonna be this expensive. I got my bacon egg and cheese crossandwich and it was tiny like a spam musubi. Hey I paid almost $5, hook it up fool! The service was extremely slow and the lines to pay moved but the waiting crowd grumbled non-stop. Next time I learn my lesson and bring my own grub. I wonder if whopper time is better. Let's not find out.

  • Wanugee N.

This Burger King is one inside HNL airport. It is a good idea to grab a Combo meal before a long 4+ hour flight back to the mainland That is cheaper and maybe better than what you might get in the Economy section of your flight. There are plenty of seats inside and some outside in the terminal walkway. Stop here before you go out to gates 6 thru 11, where most of the flights are back to the mainland. There isn't much out there, except for a small Subway. Prices are a little more than the Mainland. 8 Piece Chicken tenders combo, $8.39 Whopper Combo meal, regular size, $8.99 Tender Crispy Chicken Combo meal regular size, $10.52 Nearly $30 for fast food for 3 people is sort of expensive, don't you think? I guess they can get away with it inside the airport.

  • Gspot H.

Aint Gonna lie, when in an airport early morning: I'll rock a Ham egg n Cheese croissant

    (2)
  • Sharon G.

Hey for those early morning flights...stopping here is necessary! Keep in mind though they don't serve iced coffees, and they may run out of Orange Juice.

    (2)
  • Janet E.

The service by the cashier at this Burger King was great. But it took a while for my food to be prepared, and I had only ordered one burger. There is an open area for seating next to this Burger King, but I would recommend sitting on the outside seating area where they have an open area that looks down to a Japanese garden. But in that area, the birds might attack you. Its a risk worth taking though! Its also a little warmer (because the Burger King area was super cold with the AC pumping). This review loses a view stars because I had the worst stomach pains after eating the food from here. That's never a good sign for me when food does not settle well.....

    (3)
  • Arabiki D.

Last ditch effort for food before a flight! If I eat here its through desperation! Food is basic BK menu...Bfast has NO BISCUITS!!! Missing a few items from the normal menu and the PRICES ARE HIGH!!! Be prepared for a $10 combo meal!

    (2)
  • Michael C.

Ok place to get a burger when your on the run inter island travling. Some times there is a line so good luck

    (3)
  • Neal D.

Don't be too put off by the prices at this establishment--they're exorbitant all across the airport. In fact, the way you should perceive this Burger King is as the best burger in the airport (including the sister location in the interisland terminal). You know exactly what you're getting yourself into; that's the beauty of chain restaurants, isn't it? And on any of the Whopper products, you'll get helping of veggies so large that you won't completely abhor yourself for jamming such a monstrosity down your gullet. To pick a bone with another establishment at HNL (a certain brewpub that, like the BK is managed by HMS Host), you'll get a whole lot more plant matter on top of the patty at BK.

    (2)
  • Chad R.

They are getting a 1 star for only one reason. They ran out of burgers 2 hours before they closed. Really!!!

    (1)
  • nicholas y.

I mean come on. Waiting 18 minutes for burger king is ridiculous. I had to leave my food wasting $24.88. And don't even try to ask when you food will be up, you will be ignored. I mean they have like nine things on the menu, 7 of them are burgers. Terrible customer service and since I didn't get my food I will be taking my six hour flight back home hungry and annoyed. Totally just lost a customer burger king.

    (1)
  • Jeremy S.

Truly average food, astonishing prices (Whopper meal $11+), and slowest service I've seen before. But in the end, it was what I wanted, and the only thing open. $26 for two people to eat $12 worth of normal BK food, and about a 8 min line, 5 min food order wait at 9:15pm on a Saturday.

    (3)
  • Emmanuel B.

What a bad experience. The whopper didn't even feel fresh and the surrounding is also dirty. The fries were very oily and also close to be cold. I felt like eating in a doggy place. Definitely not at the level of an international airport. God that was bad.

    (1)
  • James D.

Very costly and I will be sure to bring my own food next time or not eat at all. The cashier cant speck English to save her life. A fish sandwich and a dry burger I should have eaten card board.

    (2)
  • Sean B.

Really greasy breakfast sandwich. Average in every other way. Not a fan.
