Needed someplace near the hotel that was quick. Thai reviews sucked, but the reviews for this place were pretty good. And they were accurate. It's a bit grubby on the outside, but they got all the right stuff on the inside. We did a to go order. I originally got just a gyro, but when I walked in to see them putting together a platter, well, I upgraded and wasn't sorry one bit that I over ordered. Get the potatoes, and don't miss the sauce. Salad was a nice complement. The gyro philly style was darn tootin good too

Food was good, but the place is disgustingly filthy. Saw a number of health code violations while I waited. Sauces not refrigerated, employee wiped the outside of the sauce bottle with her apron, a tub of sauce set up on another one to drain the last bit into the new bottle, tables where not wiped, trash cans where full and sticky. I'm from out of town so maybe that's kinda normal here, but it's disgusting. All that said, the souvlaki and potatoes where very good although the pork portion was a little small. The salad was ok, cucumber and tomato could have been fresher. The sweet tea is good. Only reason for one star instead of two is to offset some of the high marks more. No place this filthy should get 4 stars.

So there are a couple of these places in town. All are similar and different at the same time. The main thing that's wrong with this location is that it is a small restaurant with a small parking lot. Besides that I think these places are a little expensive for the amount of food they give you. Now don't get me wrong, but this is a gyro place and gyros are usually pretty good. This is no exception the food is ok. So the question is would I eat here again? Well maybe not at this location but I will eat at the other location being a little larger better parking and seems to be a little cleaner.

I am on a quest to discover and sample some of the restaurants in my area. Grecian Gyro has been on my radar for sometime. Yesterday, I ventured outside my normal scope and paid a visit to a restaurant I've heard so much about. Although the restaurant is only 8mins (3.5 miles) from my house in East Point, it seems a world away to me. Why do I think of Hapeville and the Airport area as a world away? The restaurant is located on a corner lot. A very small corner lot. Parking is at a premium and the lot was full. Literally, I had to wedge my Scion XB in a spot that was not a legitimate parking space. That's the price you pay for going to a restaurant at 7pm on a Friday night. The outdoor spacing area was full.. plenty of people enjoying there meals on the patio. The restaurant itself is a very small space. Fortunately, there were only 3 or 4 patrons inside. I was greeted immediately and my order was taken. Of course, my first visit, I had to order a Gyro Platter. In less than 5 minutes I received my Takeout platter. Now that's service. Next time, maybe I'll dine in but the thought of sitting my front of my television watching some Andy Griffith or Waltons' rerun got the best of me. Ok, I just admitted I'm addicted to Andy Griffith and Waltons' reruns, there must be a rehab group for people like me. Deliver me from this addiction, the first step is admitting there is a problem. The Gyro Platter is an incredible value for about $10. The platter offers more than ample portions of the lamb/beef, potatoes, salad and pita bread. I could have easily shared half of the Platter with someone else and I would have had more than enough. I must say the best part of the meal was the potatoes. I asked for the sauce (tzatziki) to be drizzled over the potatoes (it was more like drowned). Next time, sauce on the side. My only quam is that the lamb/beef was a bit dry, some of the pieces had hard crusty edges. All in all, a good meal to share with Andy and John Boy and the Family. Opa!!!

I like this place for a fresh quick meal with wholesome ingredients but the execution can be hit or miss. The first time I was in I was hooked. Fresh Greek salad, amazing potatoes and hot flavorful lamb. You always promise yourself you're not going to eat all the bread but you do anyway. The next time I was in the salad was wilting a bit and overdressed, the potatoes were dry like they were the 'end of the day' potatoes and the lamb was too. Guess I'll limit trips to busier times when I can be sure the food hasn't been sitting around for hours.

Ordered Greek Salad with Gyro meat (seasoned roasted lamb and beef). The meat was tender and delicious. The salad dressing was a bit much so next time I'd order it on the side. The salad greens were fresh and crisp. The size was large, a good value. I will come back next time I'm in town.

Every Thursday night while I watch Scandal I have to have something different to eat. I read the reviews and the gyro looked really good so I thought why not give them a try. The gyros, potatoes and salad are fantastic! Too much to eat all of it. I will definitely go back...

First off, mea culpa for thinking it was a good idea to eat at a fast-food Greek restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. I should have trusted my instincts. With all of the high reviews, however, I figured Grecian Gyro was worth a try. And as a plus, the restaurant was just a short walk from my hotel. Maybe I ate here on an off night, I don't know. Bottom line though, this was the worst interpretation of "Greek food" I've had in my life. I've eaten some really great cheap Greek food many times both here in the states and in Crete, and Greek cuisine this was not. The salad reminded me of something you get from a take-out pizza joint...iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and pepperocini drowned in an oily Italian dressing. True, there were a few crumbles of feta on top, but that didn't make it a Greek salad. I ordered the gyro for my entree, and the meat had the consistency of beef jerky. Well seasoned, yes, but super dry and almost crispy. Worst of all was the restaurant's tzatziki sauce, which reminded me more of tartar sauce or mayonnaise. I literally had a few bites then tossed the rest in the trash, a completely unsatisfying dinner. I rarely write a negative review of a restaurant after one visit but in this case I feel like I'm doing the public a service. I have no idea why place rates so highly. Is it due to the fact that it's a unique option and different option from the other typical fast food restaurants in this area? Make the smart decision and eat elsewhere. If you happen to be in this area, the Pit Boss BBQ across the street is an excellent option!

This spot is great for lunch because if your tight on time they can generally turn your meal out quickly. I got a gyro wrap combo the and the lamb was great, had nice flavor. The combo comes with Grecian potatoes and a drink. The potatoes are seasoned and the come with sauce on top, I opted for sauce in the side which worked out well because the sauce works well with the lamb. The wife got the chicken wrap with a side of hummus and pita. The chicken tasted fresh and full of flavor and she said the hummus was good. Definitely check this spot out for a quick bite for lunch if your in the area.

I always come here when in Atlanta! When I used to live here I'd come often once a week for lunch or take out. The people seem welcoming and the food is delicious. Not the cleanest place in the world and it gets so stuffy, but everything else makes up for it! I know I'll end up coming back!

This place rocks! You don't stay in business for as long as these guys unless you are doing something right, and these guy's do it right! They load up the wraps with meat, and their delicious sauce. It's not traditional tzaitiki sauce, but it's works. Get extra napkins, you'll need them. I tried the gyro, and the suvlaki and they were both Delicious! I'll be back for sure. Parking can be tuff here, but make the effort to stop. You will not be disappointed.

My work's North American headquarters just moved into town. Grecian Gyro was the first place that a work friend and I decided to try, thanks to our wonderful interns who quickly sampled the area for the rest of the company. It was a rainy Friday afternoon. My friend and I are not very well versed in the ways of Hapeville just yet, so when we found Grecian Gyro, it was very difficult for us to find parking which didn't require us to park across the street and walk in the rain. Alas, these are first world problems. I walked into the Grecian Gyro and it's a small greasy spoon and they had very energetic people working behind the counter. It was very busy but we were told in advance to be prepared. As far as prepared goes, we were just ready to bring it back to the office. I ordered the lamb gyro and their Grecian potatoes with feta and tzatziki. What I love about the Grecian Gyro, which I don't find very common out here in Atlanta, is that they serve the gyro meat off the rotating spit. Back in sweet home Chicago, you don't walk into a gyro place without the sight of spinning meat. Wait... that came out wrong. My work buddy and I stood there, anxiously waiting for someone to get up. It was just after 12:30, so peak time was over, but those left over from the peak time were dwelling. We then saw our chance when a couple got up from their table. It was like we were running in slow motion to intercept the table before we lost it. Luckily, we were the victors. The gyro itself was 10 stars. It's the one of the top two gyros I've had in Atlanta. If I were to do it differently, I would get a side that was a little lighter. The Grecian potatoes are very heavy. Add the tzatziki and feta to it and you won't be hungry for the next two days. But no regrets, because Grecian Gyro is the best.

This place is a great little diner. I do mean little probably 1/2 dozen 4 person tables and a lunch counter with a covered outdoor seating with picnic tables. it was clean but worn, not in a bad way. this place gets a lot of airline business and they've been at this location for over 25 years. The age shows but its comfortable. I had a gyro wrap with potatoes and a salad. the quality of the food was top notch. warm soft pita, delicious beef and lamb, fresh veggies. I only eat meat 2-3 meals a week and I'm very glad I used up one on this great little diner. Like the sign out front says: "eat Greek once a week"!

Very nice lunch place!!! and quite busy! I tried a basic Gyro with some Feta Potatos, I really enjoyed it! Once I came here for lunch, I ended up returning several times during my training to repeat the experience, and try other things on the menu. This place has character. It's real food, real people, and a real crowd that you sometime have to fight your way through just to order your meal. But all that is OK because once you get your food, it's done right.

If it weren't for my fiance's insistence that this place is good, I would drive right past Grecian Gyro every time. He works nearby and has eaten there several times, and told me it's a hole-in-the-wall with great Greek food. And, he was right. The place wouldn't be able to get away with their disgusting bathrooms if the food wasn't good. I ordered a chicken plate: grilled chicken, salad, pita bread and potatoes. The salad was pretty basic: iceberg mix with tomatoes and olives, but did have some really good Greek dressing. The chicken was also really good and seasoned well. The potatoes, like the chicken, were great and well seasoned. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the place is. Next time we're in the area, we'll stop in!

3.5 Once a week, go Greek might be a little agressive. The favor and food is great, but it's a touch on the greasy side even for a "take-out" greek spot. I recommend the Gyro Plate, as it comes with a salad and potatoes. (The sauce on the potatoes is awesome).

I instantly fell in love with this place. (Many thanks to the friend who suggested we take lunch here.) Grecian Gyro has been here since something like1982. It took me thirty-two years, and I'm glad I finally made it. When we got there, there was a line out the door. (No, I am not exaggerating.) The food is just that good. I had a couple of wraps. I thought I should have had just one, but Nick said I should have two. (I think that was owner Nick Koulouris behind the cash register. Nick had fingernails that instantly made me think he must play the guitar.) Nick had three or four more folks behind the counter that were cheerfully handling all the orders and making their incredible food. Nick was wrong. I only needed one wrap. I had the Gyro Grecian Wrap, and the Steak wrap. The Gyro was the clear winner. Lamb and beef seasoned perfectly--moist and tasty on a soft, grilled pita bread. Delicious. Nick's Grecian sauce is a hit! My friend got a Gyro Plate. Slightly larger portions which included some Greek Salad, grilled pita, and potatoes. It was also clearly a hit. Apparently you can also order the Plate as a "wrap." I admit, I am curious about that, and the Loukaniko sounds tasty, too. Plus, there are other things you're already well acquainted with: steak, souvlaki, spanakopita, dolmades, hummus... It's not a huge menu, but it's clear everything on it is well thought out in preparation and execution. A wrap will cost you at most five dollars--a plate costs roughly nine dollars. Grecian Gyro is kind-of small. The interior may hold something like thirty people. There's an outdoor seating area that looks like it'll seat roughly thirty people, too. In addition to the lunch throng, there were also plenty of people taking their orders to go. I'm not going to say they were fast, but with everything being made to order, and as delicious as it was, the wait is worth it. Parking, however, is in very short supply. There's nearby street parking, or you can snake some parking from the neighboring Waffle House. (One Waffle House employee came to the Grecian Gyro for lunch while we were there.) I'll be looking forward to my next visit. Holler if you're coming with.

Love this place, dont love the long lines but thats what you get when the food is good. The place is worth stopping at if you are in the area. Always get the sauce on the fries! You will still be wanting more.

Saw where one reviewer said this was "the best Greek food he ever had", to which I must reply, "poor, unfortunate soul". Lets start with the basics. The place is filthy. There is an inch of grease, (not Greece) atop the hood over the grill which is ready to ignite at any second. There are bottles of so-called "tzatziki" sitting out on the counter, all day long. If they were real tzatziki, whose primary ingredient is yogurt, they would have to change the name to "Grecian Diarrhea". Lord only knows what mysterious substance is in those bottles. They seem to have gotten their gyro recipe from KFC, for it is served up "extra crispy". This is a result of to being pre-sliced and then reheated on the grill until it looks and tastes like Kingsford Charcoal. I used to work across Virginia Ave from this place for 5 years. I studiously avoided the place, not just "once a week" but every day of the week. I'm both Greek, and from New York. As I tell people who ask me where to get good Greek food in Atlanta, point your car north, drive 1000 miles and when you see a sign saying "Welcome to Astoria, NY" get out and eat anywhere.

This place isn't much to look at, but who cares? It's basically Greek fast food and it's consistently good. The Gyro salad plate has made my weekly dinner rotation when I'm in this part of town for work. It's loaded with fresh lettuce, tomatoes & olives and TONS of gyro meat, not to mention the warmed pita on the side. And though I was surprised considering the volume of business, the service is also great-- like when I mentioned that I love their ice (pellet ice, yum!), the guy behind the counter quickly grabbed an extra full cup of ice for me to take along. Glad to have a yummy AND quick option down this way.

I grew up eating at this place and they are still a special treat when I am on that side of town. The food is authentic and so good. I'm pretty traditional so I always order the gyro with potatoes and sauce. It is always good. The salads are amazing and I can confidently say you won't find better Greek food in Atlanta !!!! Now the place is small and parking is cramped also don't let the long lunch line cause you to miss out on a good thing. Try calling ahead.

Food was 5 star but the set up is what takes away from it. Hardly any room to order. I ordered the Grecian salad and the feta wrap/pita and they were both outstanding. Wait for my food was average. I will definitely be eating here again.

Food was awsome. I had the Chicken wrap with extra sauce on my potatoes. This is definitely my new spot

Love, Love, Love this place! Don't go during the weekday lunch time and expect to get out fast. This location is obviously near the airport so it is packed during lunch time and parking becomes scarce. The food makes it worth everything and the employees are always generous.

Just a heads up the Lamb is not sliced lamb steak it is a mix of ground beef and ground lamb. With that in mind the lamb has an excellent flavor to it and is very tender. Before when I tried the chicken I found that it lacks enough flavor to balance out the thick pita bread, leaving you with a taste of mostly bread and sauce. Stick with the lamb its their specialty. The creamy secret sauce at Grecian Gyro's is really what sets this Greek restaurant apart from their competition. The tomatoes and onions are cut fresh every day and the pittas are always soft and warm. The gyros are overflowing when you get them, you might even need a fork. No trip to Grecian Gyro would be complete without their Greek potatoes with the Greek sauce on top. During the week Grecian Gyro is packed with a line out the door and no parking to be found. I try and go on Saturdays to avoid the crowd, however parking can still be difficult. The prices are affordable and portions are generous. Grecian Gyro's motto is "go greek once a week". I stick to that motto going almost every Saturday.

Do not go to Nick's Grecian Gyro for a good parking situation. You probably won't get that. Do not go to Nick's for stimulating, personable conversation with the servers. I've been eating here for 25+ years and I don't think that has happened but a few times. Go to Nick's Grecian Gyro for the sauce. Go for the lamb & beef gyro. Go for the potatoes. Go for the baklava. It's a good, greasy joint with questionable servers who pile the food and sauce on the plates of airline workers who come back time and time again. It's been voted best in Atlanta time several times and I'm sure that frustrates the Greek-food purists to no end. I really enjoy eating at this hole in the wall. Once a week, go Greek!

The perfect hole in the wall. Smells like Greece when you walk in here, at least a good Greek hole in the wall gyro joint. I miss Athens every time I come here. The food is great.

My bf wanted to gyro all week so finally we decided try a random place. We were by the airport. The place is tiny and parking is a hit or miss. Fortunately I was able to find parking. Cleanliness was was basic but they rated high 80s. The menu wasnt as extensive as i expected but it had the basics (no rice, grilled veggies or roasted garlicky potatoes ). I ordered the traditional gyro and he had the chicken. We had way too much sauce on our wraps. Which made them messy. I like my veggies on my wrap (i.e. lettuce and tomatoes ) there was barely any on. We were both satisfied but nothing to make us write home to mom.

Wow!! What an epic fail!!! I normally eat here three or four times a month but it appears that will be coming to an end. My co worker and I called in a lunch order about 2pm. We were swamped at work. Chicken plates with potatoes and salad. Twenty minutes later we arrive and pay. But no chicken. We're told that they don't make chicken plates prior to customer arrival. You might think that they would mention that when you order by phone. In the rest of the free world calling ahead and being told twenty minutes means...... Anyway, then we find that they intend for us to wait for them to cook the chicken breast chunks while we wait because they are out of cooked chicken. So bottom line calling ahead is a waste of time. My co worker requested their sauce ( which is pretty good by the way) on the side. She asked to change to gyro meat since there was a wait for the chicken. She is told there is an extra charge for the sauce on the side. Now if she let them put it on her plate there is no extra charge but it's extra for the little container. Not extra sauce mind you, but 50cents extra for a little plastic container of the sauce that would have smothered the potatoes and chicken. Service has been worse than normal lately and another customer said its been different since the owner isn't around. Seems he is out with medical issues. I hope he has something to return to.

I wasn't expecting anything amazing-- we were just grabbing a quick lunch before my flight. But WHOA. I've had plenty of Greek food from different restaurants, but this one is on top. I had the Gyro plate which came with warm pita bread, fresh salad and potatoes. The meat, ugh, YUM. Perfectly seasoned, well-cooked, absolutely scrumptious. It all went so well with the warm, soft pita bread. The Grecian secret sauce was seriously the cherry on top. Everything on the plate was perfect, including the salad. Fresh, crisp lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives, peppers, & feta, drizzled with Grecian dressing--- if that's not the perfect salad, I don't know what is. The hilarious part of it all? This place is a hole in the wall and you wouldn't expect to find wonderful Greek food just by looking at this place. It's small, has limited seating, the dishes are served on plastic plates and plastic forks, and you don't want to know what the bathrooms look like. But who cares! Food is so good, it'll outweigh all of your unnecessary complaints. I say that with love. *wink Make sure you stop by before your next flight out of ATL!

The sauce isn't yogurt based - its MAYONNAISE!! Do I need to say more after that. Mayo, not yogurt. What a greek imposter, heart attack maker. Please find an authentic greek place to have gyro so you won't be eating tablespoons of mayo at a time. Wondered why the sauce was so tangy...well now you know: ITS MAYO, NOT YOGURT. Yuck!

I continue to visit this little taste of Greece. Nick has several of these around town and I've visited them all but this is my hands down favorite. There's just something funky and right about being served Greek food by some really nice Southern ladies; I love the vibe! Grabbing a bite here isn't cheap but the portions are large and the food is prepared to order. The gyros are hands down the best I've had anywhere including Greece. Their sauce is also EXCELLENT and they'll gladly put it on everything, you just have to ask. Find a reason to make this a destination. You won't regret it!

You know how when you order to-go you have the feeling of being short changed? That did NOT happen here. This place is fantastic. If the cook approaches you and asks: "ya'll hungry tonight?" you need to say YES... These guys HOOKED US UP and gave us a ton of food. I felt bad I didn't have cash otherwise, I would have tipped them $5 EACH. A good amount of food for the price... Which is rare in this world now a days.

Amazing food at amazing prices! Original Gyro is only $5.09! Limitrd indoor seating. Some additional seating outside. The side of potatoes are an excellent addition to a gyro.

This was the best Greek food i have ever had, I have tried upscale and Greek family ran before but this one really stood out. I'm a vegetarian and I walked out stuffed. Try the Greek potatoes, evidently is been over in Hapeville for many years but I just found this old treasure. Laid back and relaxed. I will definitely be back.

Get there early for the lunch crowd. Parking is a pain in the neck... supper small lot, but having been going here for years, it's worth the hassle. The gyro plate has always been my go-to dish, but recently I discovered the gyro salad which is basically the gyro plate with double salad and no potatoes... so if you're looking for a little healthier choice you still won't leave hungry.

  • Jose F.

Simply put...the food is awesome!! You get a lot of food for the money because you aren't charged for decor or parking. You will understand what I mean when you visit. But...the food is fantastic my kids love this place and once you try the food you will too!

  • Karmen K.

I have been coming to this place for over 10 years and the food still is awesome each and every time. If your lucky, you may catch the owner Nick behind the counter serving his customers with a smile! You don't see that very often anymore. I always get the chicken plate, which includes a side of salad and their incredible grilled potatoes topped with a Greek cream sauce. The sauce adds a savory addition to dishes. I have to always ask for extra because I dip EVERYTHING in it. They always has a steady, which further confirms the quality of food. There are currently 5 locations and I have only been to one other location but this location is my favorite. It's just something about the people (many have worked there for years plus it's a family owned establishment) and the ambience! It's nothing fancy but it's familiar to all those that have been coming over the years. Stop by on your way or leaving the airport....you won't be disappointed!

  • Kitty L.

YUM! There will be a line around the building if you go at lunchtime. I think that says it all.

    (5)
  • Dennis S.

While the food was very good don't set your expectations too high for the rest of your visit. The parking lot is an exercise in chaos; entering a spot was questionable and leaving took some effort. The pungent smell of garbage was the next barrier to our entrance into the building and the lack of maintenance on most of the interior was a major turn off. It looks as if the building was finished forty years ago and no one had bothered to provide even basic upkeep. The staff needs to be friendlier to their customers; a simple "Good afternoon, my name is ... may I take your order" goes a lot further than looking at your customer and waiting for them to order. Bathrooms were horrible to the point that my family had to go elsewhere. In summary, the food is pretty good but the atmosphere is horrible. Go with the takeout option if possible.

The best gyro ever. It's a small place with difficult parking but well worth it all. Any time we come to Atlanta we stop by to eat here even made the trip from home to here just to have lunch even tho it's 216 miles from us.

I stopped here for lunch today, first time in over a decade. The food is still really good, I had the gyro plate and a spanakopita. The decor hasn't changed, it could use a facelift, but you aren't there for the furniture. This is comfort food and it hits the spot. The service was quick and friendly, the three ladies behind the counter have the system down. There was a steady stream of customers on a late Saturday afternoon, and they knew many by name. Lots of smiles and super polite. I will be back again soon.

Mediocre. Had the veggie gyro. Sautéed veggies with soggy iceberg lettuce. Greek salad was soggy. Hummus was chalky. Would not go out of my way to eat here again

I went in the evening to Grecian Gyro, just looking for a Gyro and their great Greek-style new potatoes. The service was amazingly fast, about 1 min. to order and get receipt and iced tea, and another 3 minutes to get the food. The gyro sandwich was fresh, hot, and plenty of meat. Had a few too many onions for me, but I pulled most of them off (also, dumb me could have ordered the gyro without them). The greek potatoes are great - hot plenty of them, and I got the white sauce (tzatziki actually) which adds a lot of flavor. Prices are excellent, $4.59 for a gyro, and $3.50 more for potatoes and drink. This rating would easily be a 4 1/2, but I just couldn't push it up to a 5. This is not the nicest restaurant around, but the food is awesome! You should "go greek" at least once a week, they say.

This place is great. I have never had a bad experience here. I love the potatoes WITH the sauce. It is divine. This visit was perfect as if they knew I was coming on a lunch break because the freshly cooked chicken was getting done and the wait for pitch perfectly fresh food was minimal.

This place is pretty solid. Was pretty packed when I got there, not much parking for lunch but I felt that was a good sign. I ordered a Gyro Platter; it came with an extremely below par Greek salad, very very good potatoes and an ok gyro. The salad was made with chopped iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, one olive and topped with dressing and feta. Potatoes here rocked my face, especially with the z sauce on top. The gyro...I mean I've had much better. It didn't have lettuce on it, nor tomatoes. Not saying it was bad in any way, but it wasn't great by any means. I was surprised by this because of all the rave reviews but...oh well :p it was pretty cheap too, 9 bucks for one platter. Check it out if you're set on getting Greek food south of I20.

Great Food, in such a small place! There are tables and a counter if you want to eat in, also a small outdoor patio. The parking is really tight, one way in and one way out. I had the Gyro plate which consisted of the lamb and beef Gyro and Potatoes with a Greek Salad and Pita Bread. All the food is tasty and has excellent flavor, great portions and priced just right. It's usually pretty busy, so bring your patience, it's worth the wait.

Great place. I love the greek potatoes and the plates that they offer. The only reason I cannot give it five stars is the building itself is way too small and there is almost zero parking. When I used to work near the airport, I knew if I wanted to dine at Nick's I needed to be there by 11:15 or so or go after 2:00. Also, there was a ten year period where I was not working near the airport. When I got a job in 2012 that put me back in that area, the price had gone up like crazy. If you are prepared to spend $10 or more at lunch, you will definitely get great food. Unfortunately, I do not have the budget for that too ofen.

i have only eaten here once, but I kid you not, I often think of this place and desperately crave some Greek-style potatoes. This place is easy to overlook because it is basically a small, unimpressive looking shack, but do yourself a favor and make a stop here if you even remotely like grecian food. Some of the best I have ever had, and the service is fast and friendly. Believe me when I say you won't regret it. If you have ever watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and wondered why Greek people's lives center so much around food, this will explain it all.

Came by this place because I own a restaurant. Service for the food was super fast! Wow!!!! I like that. Pita was small but for the price not bad. Gyro was good and the chicken gyro was alright. Tzatxiki sauce I give a 6.5 out of 10. But I enjoyed it. Cool small place. Not the cleanest place but what the hell it's Virginia ave.!

This place had good Greek food. I am pretty sure the place is owned by a Greek. The gyro meat is legit. They have it spinning on a spit so you automatically know the gyro is going to be good. I got the open faced gyro plate. I thought I would try something different. It basically is a gyro not put together. The place is very small on the inside. I am pretty sure it was an old diner converted. They have seating on the outside as well. The inside is pretty old and could use some updating but it's not huge deal. It just makes the place look less clean. I wouldn't go here if you are expecting like a formal meal. They have Greek music playing so it makes me to believe that the owner is Greek. Also there are regulars that come in and out as it appears that the owner knows people and they come to this place often.

The best Greek food in Atlanta! The gyro plate is great, but a ton of food. You get lamb, potatoes and a salad. Get the wrap for one person., Its just right. The white tzatziki sauce is to die for. Get extra. Parking sucks here, there is maybe 6 spots, and the line is out the door at lunchtime. they do have other locations that aren't as "hole in the wall". Also, the bathroom is a little scary. I've seen bigger bathrooms on an airplane. Seriously, with the line out the door every day, you could afford to do a little work on the bathroom and patch up the holes.

What a restaurant. I love Grecian gyro, and while I don't go greek once a week, but I do try to go often. This particular location (i'm familiar with three) is very hard to find parking especially if it's a nice warm day. The outdoor seating is prime real estate also, so if you see an open spot, you better grab it and give your buddy the order to place for you! I always go for the veggie wrap, which comes with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and a special sauce at just under 3 bucks. Add some of the potato slices and that's some fantastic eating (go easy on the sauce though...it's great but can't be good for you!). They do have a selection of grilled chicken gyros, beef/lamb, and they just introduced a new Mediterranean wrap (I honestly wasn't very impressed). A word of advice. If you order the Feta pita wrap, order another wrap to go with it, because it's quite literally filled with Feta cheese. Awesome if you love feta, but you may need to mix a few veggies/pieces of meat into that feta pita to even out the flavor. Their hummus is just 'okay' and I rarely order it and I say the same for their baklava, but everything is worth a try here once

  • Aja T.

I love the lamb/beef gyro meat and the pita bread....that's it! The "tzatiki sauce" tastes more like peppercorn ranch and everybody knows the sauce makes the gyro. Another downfall is the quality of the veggies and the varying sizes of the cuts. Grecian is okay if you are in the area, but definitely not worth making a trip for. **My husband likes the greek plate especially the potatoes***

I am fortunate to work on the same street as the Grecian Gyro on Virginia Avenue. This place is always packed and the small parking lot is not very helpful but I tried to go once a week like their slogan said "Once a Week Go Greek" because the wrap is so good! If you are getting off the plane in Atlanta airport and you want something to eat fast, I suggest you stop here to grab their wrap to go (or to sit down and eat if you cannot wait any longer). I do think the sauce is their secret ingredient, which I like on their potatoes as well. Also, there are now other Grecian Gyro locations around town so maybe you don't have to drive all the way to Hapeville for this anymore!

  • Phoebe T.

The gyro was pretty yummy and I enjoyed the sauce. It was well wrapped and didn't get messy at all as I had assumed it would have. The amount of lamb they give you in a gyro is pretty sizable too. The price for a meal was a bit too expensive though - I would've been okay paying 5 something for a meal but it was close to the 8-10 range. That is bordering the cost of Greek food in downtown LA at this place which was much more nicely decorated and had salad included in their meal. The patio is super cute though and if you're craving Greek food and in the area, I would highly recommend this place. If you're just looking for places to eat and don't really like spending 10 dollars on lunch, I would look elsewhere.

  • Tim R.

I generally liked this place. Got a gyro to go. They sliced the meat a little thicker than I like, but the flavor was there and I liked the sauce. Small inside.

Love to go here when I have meetings near the airport. Lines can be long during lunch but very much worth the wait ... Have never had a better gyro, and that sauce they put on the fries... Soo delicious.

  • Qubie S.

Place is small, so it's best to get it to go. Really need to know what you want before approaching counter. Food is good, but it's best to ask for "sauce on side" of Gyro. I've been about three times in last 90 days. Would go again if I'm in the mood for a Gyro!

    (3)
  • Brannon A.

Everything on the menu is awesome!!! The portions are just right, the food tastes excellent, and you will leave full. Save some room for the Baklava. The only down side to the Grecian Gyro is the lack of dining space. If you're going to eat lunch here you need to show up by 11:30, or expect to wait for a seat.

    (5)
  • Mary G.

maybe my timing is the reason, but later in the afternoon, all the food was way overdone. You DONT reheat gyro meat on a grill. Potatoes were crispy critters. The price is not worth it.

This was absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting it to be, it didn't look like any place with amazing food. BUT i should have known better, that's usually where good food is located. Its small and cramped and barely any seating inside, but there is outdoor seating. I went here today on a whim during lunch hour. It was a small joint surrounded by a lot of other options, however the crowd came pouring in as I started to place my order. I was in a group of 3. I ordered the chicken wrap, w/a side of potatoes & white sauce. First bite in...I was hooked. The sauce is absolutely EVERYTHING and completely amazing!!!! NO seriously....that SAUCE!!! YESSSSS!!!!! lol. My coworkers ordered the authentic Lamb Gyro and they too had good things to say. Potatoes were seasoned and very tasty. The pita bread was a winner in my book. Overall, I would go back while I am staying at a hotel not too far from this place. Take my word...check it out. You will not be disappointed.

I have been eating Nicks Grecian Gyro for more than 20 years. The white sauce they put on the gyros is absolutely ridiculous. I live on the north side of town and have driven during rush hour more than once down to the south side for this sauce. This place is an Atlanta staple and will blow you away, a must-try!

Went here with a small group for lunch. Negatives: Yes, there's barely any parking, the restaurant itself is tiny and it's uncomfortably crammed while you wait for you food. Positives: THE FOOD! Yes, it might be a pain to get to Grecian Gyro and order, but the food makes it all worth it. I've tried the gyro and the chicken gyro and I LOVED the gyro, chicken gyro was a bit flavorless. Also, the feta potatoes are awesome.

Small place, bad parking, hole in the wall, bathroom is back through the kitchen (weird), but food? AMAZING. Best Greek food I have ever put in my mouth. The gyro plate is what i recommend.

The closest Greek place to East Point and College Park. Tasty gyros. Be sure to try the potatoes. The baklava is also worthwhile. These guys seem to be open all of the time and I have never left there hungry. Great place to scratch your Greek itch!

Mmm, my new favorite lunch spot. Gyros and potatoes are good, love the tzatziki sauce. If you love feta the feta pita is so good. My fave though is the chicken pita with feta added- goes great with a fountain grape soda! Wraps are the perfect size and prices are very reasonable.

LOVE this place & Nick & sons who still run the place after years & years. I used to live around the corner & this was a go-to spot for good food. The gyros & Grecian potatoes with Nick's special sauce is soooo good! Lunch time it is always packed with Delta employees (as are most places in Hapeville during the week).

I am Greek and this place was delicious. $20 for dolmathes, spanakopita, salad, chicken gyro wrap with extra chicken and feta and the AMAZING feta potatoes topped with their special tzaziki-like sauce. Potatoes were the best and everything else very good as well. Rudeness by the people taking orders on the phone added to the experience.

This place stole my heart. Everything I've tried is delicious. I first tried the Steak Gyro and I couldn't bring myself to try anything else, it was that good. The sauce is just so damn delicious. I eventually ventured out and tried the Chicken Gyro last night and then I cried tears of joy, for it too was just the best I could ask for. I go greek more than once a week.

This place is good! I have passed this place tons of times while on my way to the other eateries across the street, and never considered Grecian Gyro because it looked super sketchy, old, and was basically falling apart. But my coworker once mentioned that the potatoes here are "awesome," so we took a lunch out here the following week. At first, I was afraid that there wouldn't be any vegetarian options on the menu since I don't eat meat, but there was enough to keep me happy. If you get a plate, the meal is a good size for lunch - medium sized gyro with potatoes (there's some sort of addicting white sauce on them), salad, and a drink. It's a bit pricey though - $10 for something that is essentially fast food. Plus on the salad, they give you just ONE kalamata olive, which is simply ridiculous. But all in all, its decent food. It's too expensive to come here all the time, but its a good treat every now and then. Make sure to come on the early side, because parking can be rather scarce.

This is one wonderful establishment. A friend at church kept telling me about this place so we had to give it a try. The format is interesting and different and the parking is almost nonexistent. But, it is the food that you come for - good and plenty. Great Greek and a line out the door. This is one wild and crazy place!!

I don't know what all the buzz is about. I thought it was VERY meh... My chicken wrap was swimming in the white sauce, there was WAY too much of it. It was pretty gross actually. Big chunks of white chicken though...too bad they were cold! The worst part was the potatoes. Cold and greasy. I think that, had the food been at the proper temperature, it may have been better. It was just bad. Very, very forgettable meal.

  • Bryan S.

This place is kind of dirty with awfully soiled looking people behind the counter (one lady with jail-house tattoos, missing teeth & greasy hair) but, damn, the food is good. I don't want to publicize them lest they become even more popular and prices go up but I think word got out about 10 years ago. Gyros are highly recommended. They aren't huge (I'm a big eater) but two really fill me up. Great sauce - not tzatsiki but something similar. Side order of olives are pathetic (what do you expect for, like, 50 cents?) but the dolmades are really good and a good value. A gyros and large order of dolmades run me around $9 and I'm a happy camper. Easily accessible from the airport if you know where you're going. They close just before 9:30 p.m. so not a destination for late night munchies.

Went with a friend and ordered a chicken wrap, potatoes and drink. We ordered takeout since we were staying nearby at a hotel by the Convention Center. Very casual atmosphere and friendly employees. The kitchen is open and you can watch them prepare your meal. Very generous with the sauce on the potatoes. I'd definitely return if I'm in the neighborhood (or stop by one of the other locations).

Don't be afraid to pull over and get in line... This place is not really the greatest place to look at but once you have their food..you just won't care about ambiance. Greek is my favorite type of food and this place does it better than anyone else. The gyro is juicy, well-seasoned and flat out delicious, pair it with Nick's sauce and it's heaven. Go ahead and get the gyro plate cause the potatos and salads are the bomb too. You can't miss with this place, just wish parking was more convenient and that I lived closer....

My husband runs by Nick's on the way home from work sometimes and picks up dinner. Twice, I had the gyro plate. First time, I got a lot of potatoes seasoned heavily with their salt/Greek seasoning and basted heavily with their Greek sauce. On top, they laid out the tasty gyro beef and lamb meat. The accompanying salad was pretty good and not drenched with salad dressing. The last time with the same order, I requested the sauce to be on the side. I got fewer potatoes that weren't as soft. Again, the salt/Greek seasoning was heavy (why!!!???). The gyro beef and lamb were great. The salad was wilted from sloshing around in the salad dressing which also was very salty. Too much salt, people! Wow. in both instances, the bread was great. Their hummus is pretty good as well as the dolmades. I grew up on this food. Now, this place isn't as good as homemade, but, if you catch the heavy hands that shake the salt, you will have a decent meal for a decent price.

  • Dean A.

Nick's Grecian Gyro doesn't look like much but it offers excellent food for the price! Try the Gyro Plate, with Greek salad and potatoes. When they ask you the magic words "Sauce on the potatoes?" the answer is "YES!". Dang....now my mouth is all watering! The souvlaki (pork loin) is very good, as is the lamb gyros. I also like the chicken plates but the lamb or pork rule here. The hummus is ok. Not the best I've had but decent. While the meat and potatoes are great, the thing that really tops it off is the pita bread they use. Toasted up on the grill and either wrapped around the sandwich, or in the way of the plates, cut and served open faced. This is the stuff that will make you come back. Their tea is super sweet, so be warned. I usually order half sweet and half unsweet. Man, where is a napkin when I need it?

    (4)
  • Mark C.

Nick's is definitely part of my regular lunch-time rotation when I'm working, and I'm kind of sad that I'm not at Delta HQ as often as I was over the summer. I always just get a gyro wrap, but if I'm feeling extra-hungry, the gyro plate is an amazingly filling meal. The gyro as a whole is sometimes a little greasier than I'd like, but oh, add the sauce and it really doesn't matter anymore. The place isn't much to look at, but a glance at the line at lunch should be enough of an indication that the food's good. Indoor seating is very limited, and while the outdoor patio is comfortable, how comfortable can it really be with the smell of Jet A and diesel? Still, Nick's is a standard lunch spot, and one that anyone who enjoys gyros or other Greek food to take a visit to.

I used to go here more than once a week in the 1990's and can attribute about 15 excess pounds to the food I enjoyed there. Love the herbed potatoes, the gyros, the salad. But then, 10 years ago on a warm summer day, I had their wonderful Z-sauce as usual, which had been sitting with 10 other squirt bottles next to the hot grill all day. You can imagine the result. After avoiding the place for more than 10 years, I noticed they'd spruced up the place, and decided to give them another chance one later afternoon. Once again, I noticed 3 bottles of sauce stored on the prep counter outside the fridge (which is immediately underneath the prep counter and quite handy). The lunch rush had been over for 2 hours, and no other customers were there, so they weren't exactly busy. So, in order to avoid the previous experience, I asked for some sauce from the fridge. The only sauce they had refrigerated were in small go-cups, which had been filled who-knows-when. Starting 6 hours later, and for days afterwards - the same effect. Missed two days of work as a result. Sorry - never again.

Potatoes are great, the mythic white sauce is really good, but probably not good-for-you. Got a gyro, which was among the better I've had. The meat was well seasoned, and adorned with the same white sauce. The little house salad served on the side was pretty fresh, and had a very nice dressing on it - also housemade, I'd guess. Overall a good little spot, and obviously popular judging by the crazy long line that backed out the door (even on the rainy day when I was there). It *is* a bit pricey for what you get, but I take solace knowing it's scratch-made and damn tasty.

I'm part of the Delta clan, so we usually frequent this place once a week. "once a week, we go Greek" I've been coming here for about 6 years. I have no complaints. When i come here during lunch, the line is always out the door. I love the potatoes. I always ask for the sauce on the side (depending on who makes your plate, decides how much sauce you'll have) I always get the lamb gyro plate. It comes with a great greek salad (nothing special, just a basic salad, but very good) and some potatoes w/ the Mediterranean cucumber sauce. I pay about 7-9 dollars. The wraps use to be a pretty good portion, but within the last few months their size has decreased by half. And they charge you for extra sauce and feta. This recession is a bitch! I love their ice, it's the small, crumbly ice like you get at the hospital. This is a family owned, but not operated business. It's tiny in size and personality. The food is good and simple, not great, and the prices are fair. A lot of yelpers have commented on the workers. Yes, they do like they are on work release. I can honestly say, Nick's gyros are the best I have ever had. If you know of better...tell me

  • Jesse Z.

Lunch was actually very tasty, minus the price and the salad. Gyro Plate wrapped, came out to $10.05. Its a ton of food, I would rather it be a little cheaper and small portions, as I could not finish all my food, and neither could any of my co-workers. The Gyro was very good, as were the Grecian Potatoes. I'll be back if I feel like spending the money. Food is great, price isn't.

The Gyro here is perfection, really. And Nick is actually Greek, so that helps things too. Lunch here is inexpensive ($3.99 for a Gyro, add feta for $.90, get a side of pita bread for $.93) and truly yummy. Get everything "sauced." Mmmm...

I eat here about once a month, I get craving the grilled chicken and potatoes with that yummy sauce and just find myself there - standing in line. The place is small so I almost always get it take out which is fine with me!

Down the street from Delta Airlines HQ, most of the patrons are airport workers and such. My dad is addicted to the Gyro plate, which is delicious. The gyro meat cooks on the vertical oven deal and Nick or someone slices it off and grilles it up. Just a bad ass place. The Cokes have crushed ice, which is a little added bonus. Very small space inside, with a covered deck for the overflow.

Gyro and get the sauce with the Greek fries. Penny for penny, tough to beat.

Excellent Gyros and potatoes. I've had a lot of gyros and different places in Atlanta and I've yet to find one that comes close to the ones here.

The line is out the door, but the wait is well worth it! I always order the Veggie Gyro with Greek Potatoes, the Tzaikiki sauce is loaded on top and it's addictive.

  • Nick C.

Love, Love, Love this place! Don't go during the weekday lunch time and expect to get out fast. This location is obviously near the airport so it is packed during lunch time and parking becomes scarce. The food makes it worth everything and the employees are always generous.

Simply put...the food is awesome!! You get a lot of food for the money because you aren't charged for decor or parking. You will understand what I mean when you visit. But...the food is fantastic my kids love this place and once you try the food you will too!

YUM! There will be a line around the building if you go at lunchtime. I think that says it all.

Good all around Greek. Great cucumber sauce and large portions of food. If your looking for something good an different this is a good place to go and take friends to try new food. "Once a week go Greek"

  • Scott H.

Awesome gyros. Went back for seconds during the same meal. Really happy service.

    (4)

I generally liked this place. Got a gyro to go. They sliced the meat a little thicker than I like, but the flavor was there and I liked the sauce. Small inside.
