Comfortable spot with a large assortment of cakes and fudge, but being the coffee yuppie I am that is what brought me here and will have me coming back. They have a great French press and a slew of different coffee options. I recommend you check it out!

Amazing! I am a coffee junkie and like to try new thing and this place is great. I had the shot of espresso with foam, honey and cyan pepper. It was delish. And the place has a great atmosphere as well.

The perfect coffee shop has opened in downtown Duluth. The ambiance is a perfect combo of fresh, inviting, and cozy. The coffee is wonderful with friendly service. They offer espresso of all kinds, multiple coffees of the day, fudge, beautiful cakes, scones, cookies, and a wide assortment of truffles. I love that the medium dark roast that I got was strong but not acidic. I am so excited that I can grab a nice cup of coffee and enjoy Taylor Park with my baby girl.

Gwinnett needs Starbucks-alternatives and this is a perfect example. Love the historic and comfy space. Great coffee menu plus cakes, chocolates and box lunches. Nice addition to the cute Duluth downtown area....and 100A from the health department - perfect!

Let me start off by saying although I love coffee, I am not the type of a person that will go miles to get my coffee fix. Having said that, Espresso Theory might be an exception. I've been here four times now, my usual visit is on Tuesday morning as that's the only time I'll be passing by the cafe. On my first visit, I had the recommended 'new orleans chicory coffee' and boy that was excellent coffee. I was blown away from the aroma and how earthy the coffee tasted. On my second visit, I had the something light roast, quite acidic yet had a pleasant brightness to it. On my third visit, I had the something dark roast.... yeah I know, I am not good with the name of the coffee beans.. Which was also excellent. The same day after lunch, I took my wife here to have her experience the same pleasant experience I had for the past three visits. The barista was different from the one I met in the morning, whom I don't even know the name of.. was very friendly. Not only to us, but to everybody that was walking through the door. He was also very knowledgeable on what he had. Not to say the other barista didn't know, let's just say he had a lot more passion when he talked about the coffee he was offering. My wife doesn't drink coffees straight up, she usually gets latte or frappuchino from Starbucks. She also does decaf as caffeine will trigger the migraine headache sometimes. On the first order she felt like there wasn't enough of the coffee taste in her latte, so David, the barista, added extra shot for her. Little better but she said she'll have to experiment a bit with the future orders. While we were talking, David came up to us and asked how the extra shot was. Upon finding out she is not yet satisfied, he went ahead and made another cup of coffee to make sure she finds the right coffee for her. We got an exceptional service, a very pleasant after lunch coffee, and walked out knowing we will be back. Great job! ps. David asked us our name when we were about to walk out and greeted with our names. Very personal touch and appreciated it a lot. You don't see this anymore with a lot of the cafes anymore. Let alone a place where you go regularily.

What a cute little coffee shop! I was in Duluth (my old stomping grounds) with my Mom and brother and we happened upon this little gem. The staff was super friendly and they brewed a strong, delicious cup of coffee. I was also impressed that they had non dairy milk options (coconut and almond milk). The environment was very cute and welcoming with plenty of places to sit and work or chill. They had some yummy looking treats for sale too, but we did not indulge during this visit. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.

TOUR OF DULUTH, (COFFEE) This little coffee shop is located just off of Main Street. It is really on the side street and it bumps right up to the Main Square. It is very cute and quaint, just as sweet as its desserts. I sampled the cinnamon roll and it almost launched me into orbit. Way too sweet for my taste and my husband found it too sweet as well. They also have scones and bagels which may be a better option for someone who prefers a little less sugar. In addition to a variety of coffee options, they also featured a selection of tall layer cakes and cheesecakes. This place has a wonderful vibe and is a super cool hang out. It has comfortable seating, a large farm table for large groups and smaller more intimate areas. There is a television available if you want to just sit and listen to the news. If you walk out of the backdoor, you will encounter a patio which has a beautiful view of the town square and its beautiful grounds. This is where you want to be when that next snow storm hits: It's cozy and warm and you can always cuddle up to some cheesecake.

What a great find! It's my 2nd time here, & the staff is really friendly. Coffees are good, & I live their chocolate cakes. The interior is cozy too. Definitely worth the visit.

This coffee shop is a decent place. New to town about 3 months ago. Tucked in downtown Duluth, they offer a good tasting house coffee. They even offer a $9 Jamaican French pressed cup of coffee. Way too expensive for my taste buds, but I guess it appeals to someone. They offer many other hot beverages as well. It has a welcoming environment, kind of like someone's living room with sofas and TV all around. They sell many types of cakes, cookies, and pies, but they don't bake them in house. They use a dessert vendor. They also sell fudge by the pound. Worth a cup of coffee if ever walking around Downtown Duluth. Not really a go to destination spot. The parking and traffic at/near that 3 way stop is maddening.

I love it here! The owner was extremely pleasant and informative regarding my question on the espresso tonic. He gave me a sample of the tonic water that is used and it was the best tonic water I've ever had and I usually only drink tonic water with gin. It looked and tasted amazing with the espresso (as shown in pic)! Cozy environment with an abundance of cakes and sweets. It's shops like these that remind me why I prefer locally owned businesses over corporate (ie: Starbucks). I will definitely be coming back for the great customer service as well as the coffee!

Vibe is cool. Killer location. But, the coffee needs a lot of work. Ordered a regular cappuccino. They asked if I wanted a small or large. A cappuccino doesn't come in different sizes. A larger cappuccino is a latte, smaller is a cortado, etc. Espresso 101. Milk was super bubble-y, no micro foam, and overheated. Speaking of espresso, their cup sleeves are misspelled. They say "Expreso" Theory, the way most folks pronounce "espresso." The place has a lot of potential, just need to nail down their espresso drinks / milk frothing.

A decent selection of pastries and a pretty spot. Fudge is homemade. This place needs to change their espresso bean. It is too dark roasted and bitter. Since espresso is burnt by definition, the challenge is to find a sweet, creamy tasting bean. So that the cup will be smooth.

Super friendly atmosphere and employees. The desserts and treats are very yummy but huge so sharing is easy :) it has been a great small group meeting location for us as well.

If there was a no star option, it would have been (firmly) selected. Upon spying a potentially decent latte experience, we were bitterly (pun intended) disappointed with the lack of atmosphere (ala weird smells), the begrudgingly average service from the lady at the counter and last but certainly most importantly the burnt, bitter lattes with notes of soapy caffeine. It was a Sunday afternoon, if that should make a difference to any of the above factors please keep that in mind. I have never given a one star review but today I have to make an exception for the good of all those residing in and near Duluth, GA. Starbucks, Orange Coffee Bar, heck even Dunkin' donuts would have more to offer in all aforementioned categories.

Will go back. Great, quaint place. Very cozy. Could have spent the whole day there. Tried their Indonesian and French Roast coffee. Flavors were good. :) Returning customer.

Espresso Theory is a wonderful new addition to the flourishing community of Downtown Duluth. The owners Steve and John have created a cozy comfortable environment in which one can come to relax, do some work, bring the family, or have a cute little coffee date. Offering a wide variety of roasts, espresso beverages, and teas you simply can not go wrong. The house made fudge is enough to make your tastebuds melt, simply delicious! It is wonderful to have a little wholesome coffee house in Down Town again.

Create coffee and amazing people. John, the owner, is so friendly and knowledgeable. He worked with me to help find my perfect coffee drink. He is also just simply a very interesting person to chat with.

Super friendly, and very cozy! Many comfy seats to choose from. Grinds out a mean Americano. The pastry treats looksto die for, but I'd give this place another star if they offered gluten free nibbles. Only after we settled in did we notice the chocolate truffle case. A shame that's not tempting customers as we enter. I will definitely return.

Very nice place to go and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and relax. They have a good variety of sweets to choose from and the owner was very friendly. Overall, I'm happy to see a small business like this one open in the Duluth town center and am planing on making this my regular coffee & cake hang out !!!

The wife and I stopped in on Saturday night after dinner, around 8pm. Before we even opened the door, Steve, one of the owners, was there to welcome us in. There was still a good crowd, even though it said on the sign their closing time was 8 (that was obviously only a suggestion, as Steve did not appear in any hurry to close as long as there were customers) We ordered a french press with the Jamaican Blue coffee, and split a piece of German chocolate cake. Steve even threw in an extra piece for us to take home. Both the coffee and the cake were wonderful. They had a wide variety of other sweets that looked wonderful as well (fudge, truffles, and more). The inside has a really great vibe. There are a few large, wooden, community tables as well as several couches and comfy chairs. It really is a perfect coffee house feel: warm, inviting, and laid back. We had a wonderful time chatting with Steve and some of the other customers. All in all, it was a perfect way to cap off a wonderful date night. Espresso Theory is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood, and we will definitely be back.

I am so very impressed with the coffee, deserts and the cool atmosphere. I have been with business associates and my family for deserts after dinner. I have been a half a dozen times and Espresso Theory does not disappoint.
