Fairly authentic Mexican food. Good margaritas. Excellent crane asada tacos. I will definitely be back again and again.

Our family really enjoyed stopping at this authentic Mexican restaurant. From the sizzling chicken fajitas to the frosted mug of Horchata, the food was perfection. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We would gladly stop here again as we travel through. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Yulee so this was convenient.

Stopped by off I-95 in search of a vegetarian option, other than Subway and all the crap you see everywhere else. I ordered a spinach enchilada, rice and beans - delish! Super flavorful and fresh. Another reviewer commented they had the best rice and beans ever at San Jose Grill. While I think my moms are better, these were pretty good. Really tasty salsa and chips came complimentary with my to-go order too, bonus. I'd definitely go back when in the area. Worth going out of the way off the interstate too.

Below average food and service. It took a long time to get our dishes and not many customers. Food just meh. Won't be back.

I love San Jose! My husband and I go there for lunch every other week. The lunch #4 cheese quesadilla with a side of guacamole is excellent. There is a lady server there who is super sweet & always remembers that we like pink lemonade with our lunch. I definitely recommend eating here.

Just visited San Jose restaurant for lunch. March 6, 2015. We saw that it had 4.5 stars. We find 4.5 stars completely implausible. Two stars best. The food was forgettable. And it was not as inexpensive as you might think. We got regular lunch specials. Nothing great. The bathroom area is extremely dark. They asked the customers turn off all the lights before they leave. On one level I'm okay with this. On another level I am concerned where else they might be cutting corners...

Had tasteless fish tacos! Prices high for the product served. Would suggest Chilli's unless you like bland food at above market prices.

As a couple from central Texas, we are kinda picky about our Mexican food. San Jose takes care of our cravings at a reasonable price. We recently had San Jose cater a party for us. They were inexpensive and we had plenty of food or everyone. Our guests especially enjoyed the taquitos they put together for us.

Food is exceptional, but service isn't so great. Hope you don't need any extra salsa or chips. Order a burrito, and you might just get a quesadilla! Who knows!?!

I am pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food as it is my favorite. It did not top my two favorite Mexican restaurants but it was a good experience. It was clean and well decorated. The staff were all very attentive and the prices were great. I would definitely go back for a quick lunch or dinner.

Wow, this place is fantastic! Thank you to my fellow yelpers for this find. We walked into this Mexican restaurant and was pleased to see Mexican people sitting down enjoying a good meal, so I knew this was the real deal. We had a very friendly server who was on top of his tables. As for the food....delicious! I had the burrito and loved it (burrito boyz don't even come close to this). My wife had the Mexican style taco and loved it. My daughter had the cheese Quesadilla and loved it. For desert we had the deep fried ice cream. Oh boy, what a treat! I highly recommend and will most definitely be back in the future

As we walked in, all of the booths were full, but they cleared off the last booth that had silverware and napkins on it for us. As we sat down, hot chips and tasty salsa was delivered for us immediately. The waiter, Raul, was very polite didn't check in too much, gave us a heads up about the drink special a 2for1 deal, and the food came out amazing. This is now the only Mexican restaurant we will go to in the Yulee/Fernandina Beach FL area. 5 stars, no brainier.

I come here at least once a wk for my lunch break. The food is always good. The chori chicken is my fav. Chicken breast covered in chorizo and cheese sauce w tortillas rice and beans. Great drink specials and lunch specials. Today's special was two California burritos w steak covered w cheese sauce and guac w rice and beans. I had it but w chicken. Super pleased. The guac has great cilantro flavors. I'd like to see them add more meats as options. But clearly I enjoy this place as much as I'm here.

This is the best Mexican Food we've had within a 50 mile radius, definitely one of the best we've ever had. I can only hope they'll branch out and bring one up to the Kingsland area. As the other reviewers mentioned, you're started off with warm chips and salsa. The salsa has a kick. Their chips are a bit thick but better than any other place around. Also, if you check out their website, they have a coupon for free queso that you can redeem. (We've used it twice so far) The dishes are fantastic. Their tacos are amazing, so much so that I order them now each visit without fail. We are also very impressed by their Quesadillas which are fried and a bit greasy. It reminds me of when I lived in San Antonio, TX - which is impressive. We've also sampled their Burrito California which good, although the meat was a little charred, but not overwhelming so. The only other quirk is I didn't think the refried beans were very flavorful. However, it is very minor and the other dishes more than make up for it. Two of us can eat for less than $15 - it's a remarkable value for some outrageously delicious food.

Visited again this past weekend, and our favorite server, Raul, picked up our table. Fast service with chips and salsa while we looked over the menu. We had our favorites- me, mushroom quesadilla, and him, the fajita entree. The sangria was on the sweet side, so I don't recommend it. But the food is always great! We love this place! Great prices and service. Delicious and filling amount of food; usually we have leftovers.

Pretty darn good. I always order the vegetarian platter that features a spinach cheese quesadilla (sp?) Fast service always. Very, very reasonable prices. Usual neighborhood Mexican restaurant decor.

Closest we've had to authentic Mexican since we visited San Diego. Salsa is quite spicy, but they offered us less spicy for the kiddo. The jalapeño queso is also really good. Hubs liked the chicken fajitas, and I thought the fish tacos were great! The little even finished all of her taco supreme (which was huge!). Would recommend to anyone who loves good Mexican food!

Easily the best Mexican food on the east coast. The tornado margarita packs a punch. Chips and salsa are excellent and abundantly brought to the table. Great courteous service. Burritos California were good. Tacos were good. I recommend it to anyone in search of great Mexican food outside of Southern California!!

Food is delicious. They start you off with warm chips and homemade salsa, and then give you a menu consisting of the typical Mexican fare. The rice and re-fried beans are the best I've ever had. This is the only food I ever had in Yulee, that I can't get better in New Jersey. This place is unbelievable, and if you're ever in Yulee it's an absolute must.

Driving from Clearwater Beach to Savannah, we were not met with many dining options. Tracts of road in rural areas and little in the way of signage only worsened matters. I used my Yelp app to find a place to eat in Yulee, and even with the physical address, we couldn't find the place. Fortunately, given that we were pretty hungry at this point, we chanced upon San Jose Mexican Grill and opted to eat there instead. There were no reviews to guide us, and strip mall Mexican food only sounded so promising. However, we ended up having a rather great meal -- what a find!! It's an authentic Mexican restaurant. That's not my pronouncement though, rather a reflection of the fact that the two owners are brothers from Mexico. You know something is different when you are given chips and salsa, and the salsa is really fresh and quite good. It was also a bit hot, which I absolutely adored. Looking over the menu, I opted to create my own combination dinner choosing 3 items for $8.99. Yes, that was the price for dinner, lunches are even cheaper. I went with a chile relleno, a beef burrito, and a hard beef taco all of which was served with refried beans and rice. The relleno was really impressive. The pepper was the size of an entire plate! While the cheese was plentiful, I could still distinctly taste the pepper throughout. The sauce was really quite good too -- what a great dish! The beef burrito was even better. They apparently make their tortillas in house, and it shows. It was so tasty! The sauce and beef were very good as well. The hard taco was just okay. I clearly should have went for a soft taco. All in, I had a grand meal at an incredible price. The quality of the food was very high, far exceeding my expectations. Definitely recommend for road trippers and locals alike. What a great place!

San Jose is a notch above the other Mexican restaurants in eastern Nassau. Most importantly to me, they serve real tacos al pastor, carnitas, chorizo, etc. I know of only one other place I can get good tacos in Nassau County, and that's only one day per week. They are a bit overpriced, and you have to buy three of a single type - but they aren't claiming to be a taqueria and I'm sure it's sensible business, given the overall size of their menu. The standard fare Tex Mex items are as good as you're going to get anywhere around here. The staff are always friendly and attentive. I visit as often as i can afford to.

Most authentic tasting Mexican food in Yulee and on the island. I tend to choose peppers every time over San Jose however.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
