After having such a terrible experience at brew burgers pub and grill, we came here and we were so glad we did. The nicest young ladies treated my boyfriend and I so well considering we were sooo angry at brew burgers!!! Anyways, the food was great! They really don't skimp out on the condiments which I love! I got three tacos, fish (my favorite) beef( 2nd fav) and chicken( my least fav). Chicken was a little dry in my opinion but with the condiments it tasted well! They have really good queso and salsa for the chips! The fish was grilled fresh in front of you and wasn't fishy if you know what I mean. Very helpful and sweet service! Didn't throw all the condiments on my tacos, but placed them very carefully and artistically. Oh yeah, the boyfriends empanadas were the best I ever had! Super flaky, deep fried when you order them, they don't sit around in a window forever! Perfection. Thank you tomatillos!

Burrito was great. Just the right size and the Tomatillo sauce was really tasty! There was a wide variety of choices and the food is fresh and delicious. The staff was very helpful and and attentive. Christel was kind to our whole family. We will be back again!

The burrito was suprisingly huge and filled with rice and beans no meat (I asked for veggie). The tacos were ok.

This place very much reminds me of Chipotle if you're familiar with that chain, with only minor differences. The food was good but not special.

Fresh food! Great place for a quick lunch that won't break the bank. I've tried everything but the fish, and have been pleased. Love the 2 taco option for only $4 loaded with all of your selected toppings. Pork and chicken are tasty, but I think the steak has them beat. They have a great spicy salsa and the option of a wheat tortilla if you choose to get the burrito. I'm a happy and regular customer! Keep up the great work Tomatillos - and welcome to the neighborhood!

Meh. Okay, not great. I have gotten the empanadas a couple of times, and while they are indeed very tasty, I think they're way overpriced for what you get. It's not "real" Mexican by any stretch, but the place is clean, and the service is decent and fast. I just think their prices should be a little more in line with say Taco Bell, since you're not really getting much better.

This is not Mexican food. There is no flavor. The manager was nice but I will not go back for the food. I can make better Mexican inspired food myself.

I LOVE TOMATILLO'S!! My BF & I happened to stop by oneday on the way home from work when they first opened & have been regulars ever since. I've pretty much tried everything. The burrito's & the churro's are my favorite!! Everything is always fresh, very reasonably priced & doesn't make my belly hurt after. All of the staff is super friendly & they even have Classic Car shows the first Sundays of the month w. good music & free chips/salsa.

First please note they are open 11-8 every day. Yelp indicated closed on Sunday but they were not. Food was great and price was fantastic. Nachos, quesadilla & kids meal for under $25. Fresh food, fast service. Forgot my 10% discount for checking in but it was still so affordable. Would return if we lived in the area.

The fish tacos are great and they are cooked fresh-to-order unlike some other places. The beef tacos don't have a lot of flavor but are okay. All the sides are right-on and they have chopped Cilantro which I consider a must for tacos. I will visit again if in the area!

Our favorite place to have Tex-Mex lunch when traveling north on 75. Fast and delicious with decent prices.

We stopped in a few times and each time felt they gave our orders special attention. Very friendly. All the ingredients are right there freshly prepared each day. Mix and match what ever you want in a bowl or burrito. If it does not taste good you picked something you don't like. We enjoyed both the bowls and tacos. Give it try before you get on I 75. Across from RaceTrack gas station.

You can't complain when you can order a Junkyard Bowl for under $10. Kept me feeling full for hours!

Got off I-75 with intentions of eating at McDonalds but saw this place just a few doors down and figured I would give it a try. Very clean and staffed with some friendly folks. I went with the Junkyard Bowl and it was delicious. The salsa had a different flavor and I can't really put my finger on what made it different but it was tasty. The portion size made it a great value. I'll be back.

Tomatillo's has the best, fresh mexican food around. All the dishes are affordable, and the location features dine in or dine out options. You custom order your entree, from a nice variety of basics, and then choose from many toppings etc. I wish they had more locations! It's been one of our favorite go to restaurants, and even when they are busy, you can get in and out fairly quick.

Yummy fresh food! We had a lovely lunch at an affordable price. The employees were friendly and nice, and the dining room while small, was clean and had cute decorating. Also some seating outside, very nice place. I liked that even the hot sauces were from Sarasota, nice to have things local!

Eat here. I like the ranch-tomatillo sauce. My husband likes the cayenne pepper sauce. I had one beef and one chicken taco. I didn't want to wait for them to cook a fish taco, because those are made to order. I bet the fish tacos are good too. Reasonable prices.

What a great surprise! Do not let the looks of this place scare you. It was formerly an ice cream drive through. Avoid the McDonald's on corner and just try this local secret. A better copy of Chipolte's and at lower prices. Plus they do not charge for every extra item. (only guacomole is a slight charge). Had three different soft tacos - delicious. Order of preference: pulled pork (cooked for 6 hours); then the seasoned beef; then the steak. I did not try the chicken. but you could have a veggie taco too. Watched them make the burrito and saw the humongous Max Nacho. Must have weighed 3 pounds. Taco Tuesdays are $1.50 fully loaded. Save room for their original churros. Apple was excellent. Choices of over 25 toppings to add to your sandwich, burrito, plate, or taco. Ask for Brandi -- she makes a heck of a taco. And super friendly. Brandon is manager and just tell him Skip the Burgermaven sent you.

We stopped in for a quick lunch. Had the tacos which were ok, the pulled pork definitely better than the chicken and the ground beef. Service was ok, not very friendly but not rude.

Good food and fast! Just like chipotle only the wait is not as long! Heard its a local joint but can't wait til they open more stores! Got the junkyard bowl with a little bit of everything and it was great! I work at this exit and I'm so happy I don't have to eat at that crappy McDonalds any more!

Stopped here for lunch on our way to the airport and so glad we did! I ordered the burrito and got almost all the fixins' in it. Unlike other Mexican style food joints, they don't charge you extra for items in the burrito. The staff was super friendly and conversational, there was seating outside so we had lunch in the beautiful Tampa weather. The manager was so nice and helpful, if we lived closer I would make this a weekly lunch spot.

Really good, large portions and much much fresher than Taco Bell. So spend a few bucks extra and have a decent meal that won't make you crap blood. The staff here is really friendly and the owner is great. Even has a nice little area out back where he will be happy to tell you about the wild life that resides there. Otters, gators, fish, you name it. Its like dinner and a show.

Stopped here after visiting a doctor down the street. We only were going to get something to drink at the drive-thru, but decided to order two soft fish tacos for $4. Great decision as they were freshly made, not fried, and were absolutely delicious. We asked the very friendly person about the business and she said it was the first location, recently opened and soon to be franchised. Hopefully, it will be successful and discovered by others as it is way above any other Mexican fast food place and very reasonably priced. Being new, surely they have to work out the kinks, but give it a try!

Good fresh fast food with friendly service what more can you ask for? If you thought it was bland lol you missed the salsa and the jalapeños Nice that you could have mild if you wanted. Nice that this wasn't mass produced processed crap - would not compare to subway as previous review did-

Wife and I were 1st time customers yesterday. The 2 girls were beyond helpful to us. The food was pretty good too. We will be back for sure!

If you like Subway, you'll probably like this place, too. They're almost the same. Subway starts with a big loaf of bread and 50 cents worth of cold cuts, then they load up the sandwich with whatever fluffy toppings you want. Substitute a tortilla for the bread and a small scoop of grilled meat (with no noticeable Mexican spices) for the cold cuts, and you have Tomatillo's.

Only open a few days and people have caught on. Small BUT Fast drive though or NICE seating. In and out. You pick and choose what you want on there entire menu. Very tasty! Suggestion - Keep the chips on the side with all entries. Nice to have them right off 75. Exit. We will be a local regular. Wish you good success !

We've been waiting for this place to open and finally tried it. Don't bother! It was horrible. Actually threw it away. Had junkyard bowl with veggies and it looked like junk and tasted like it. My husband had burrito and it was ice cold. Didn't even help when microwaved. Too bad people with a good idea can't get it close to being right.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
