Great tour. This facility was quite larger than the original in Pottsville, PA. The tour guide seemed to be very knowledgable about the brewery. You're allowed to take pictures, but observing everything through glass makes it difficult to take pics with no reflections. The tour took about 40 minutes. After the tour we went to the tasting room. We were given 3 samples. I tried the Octoberfest, the Premium and the Black And Tan. All good but I still prefer the lager. I do recommend the tour here.

Let's get real. Yuengling may not be ranked with the "Cigar Cities" of the world, but they make a fine beer. Even cooler is that they make it in Tampa. And they give a free tour. And you get to see how it's bottled (which is captivating BTW). We've gone twice with groups of friends visiting and loved each visit. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and seem to be very educated about the entire brew process. My favorite part is the portion of the tour that takes you through the "quality control lab". The guy that works the lab is hilarious. You have to be I guess if you're job is to taste beer all day:) Everything would probably be funny. The free beer you get at the end isn't standard offerings either, we've had some experimental brews in the tasting room that aren't offered to the public. This is a Tampa, must-do.

We went here for a tour. We grew up near the original brewery and thought it would be fun. It really was! It was free and there were samples at the end. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great time.

visited on a Saturday morning for the 1030am tour. YOU MUST HAVE CLOSED TOE SHOES! if you forget, (wearing sandals or similar) they do have a selection of 'loaner' shoes for you, but you probably dont want to touch them. tour guide was fun and sufficiently knowledgeable. our tour lasted approximately 30 minutes and provided a simplistic overview of the brewing process from grains to beer, including bottling and R&D lab. the best part of the tour is the end, where you (21+) receive two complimentary 7oz samples of beer from a wide selection of their brands. this is a perfect way to spend a rainy day, or a day on which the sun is too hot for you to go to the beach.

Great tour... And it was FREE! Brendan/Brandon (sorry my group and I disagree on what his name was exactly) was a great tour guide, great humor and information. The gift shop was well stocked and fair priced.

My Yuengling trip has been the best brewery tour I've ever taken. Everything was top notch from the staff, to the beer, to the facilities. One word of caution: You will not be allowed on the tour if you are not wearing close-toed shoes! Also, plan on sweating a bit because you do walk a lot and some of the tour is outside or in rooms without air conditioning. When you arrive, you sign in and then you can visit the gift shop while you wait for the next tour to begin. It's a large room with lots of interesting knick knacks. You can buy everything from expensive bar signs to dog collars (which you will find modeled by my lovely pup, Tucker). And there's beer, of course! The tour then starts off with an informational video about the family and company in a room behind the bar. I came with a pretty big group and we were all able to do the tour together so that was nice. After you finish the video, the actual tour begins. Our guide, Jordyn, is a friend of mine and truly great at her job. She knows the factory like the back of her hand at this point, so we received a thorough knowledge of the Yuengling infrastructure. Unfortunately we missed out on a lot of the production side of things since it was a Saturday, but we did still get to see where the canning and bottling happens. Once the tour is complete, visitors are able to sample a few of Yuengling's beers. It is a free tour but make sure you bring some cash to tip your guide/bartender! The Yuengling Brewery tour is something I would recommend to anyone visiting Tampa. If the opportunity arises, you should definitely check it out!

All the staff was incredible! The tour was free and very informative! If you're in the area you definitely need to stop in for a free tour!!!

I have wanted to go here for years, and a visit from beer-loving fellow yelper Shannon O. from my motherland of DC was the perfect excuse! (Side note: we've been friends since kindergarten, and she is just now getting addicted to Yelp. Best friend duty accomplished!) I really enjoyed checking out Yuengling. I love that they are four minutes away from my place, close to USF, and located on a beautiful patch of grassy land that feels like a mecca in the surrounding hood. Shannon and I agreed that our dogs would love to run around and potty on the beautiful pastures of the Yuengling lawn. The tour itself: we came on a Saturday at noon. We were right on time, and relieved to see that they were breaking the visitors into two tour groups. We picked the latter. I don't remember our guide's name but she was originally from London and had worked there since 1999 I believe. She was helpful and funny. A great tour, and super cool to see the inner workings of a commercial-size brewery vs. a microbrewery, which I had worked at before and honestly never found that scintillating. This was more interesting since they have to be both good at brewing beer AND cost-effective (by the way, that means using corn starch, be forewarned). I personally love the taste of Yuengling, and call me boring but I would order it at a bar for sure. We tried four samples and they were all great except for the lager. Usually that would be my favorite but I actually preferred the dark ones. The guide said that female coffee-drinkers love the dark bock, so maybe that's it? The beer garden/biergarten area was cool and my favorite room because it was lined in dark wood, with a wall full of tree stumps. It felt like Pennsylvania, and if you know me, you know that Pennsylvania is probably one of my favorite states ever. I would love to spend more time in that room! A few extra notes: the tour and samples are free, and kids ARE allowed. Wear closed-toed shoes and comfy casual clothes. Give yourself at least an hour for the whole experience - times vary based on the guide and how many annoyingly repetitive questions people ask during the tour. Luckily (since it was hot as heck in some of the non-airconditioned rooms) our tour was quick and easy. On Saturdays, the canning area is not in operation, so you'll miss that unless you come during the week. I would have liked to see the action but no biggie. Anyways, if you're looking for something to do with a family member, significant other or Tampa visitor, check this place out! It's worth doing and free, and you might learn something too.

Seeing as I live west of the Yuengling's shipping line, visiting their brewery was a special treat. We were here in November 2013 on getaway day..flying back to Chicago that afternoon. The tough part was not getting to do the actual brewery tour. Part of Yuengling's tour includes viewing a video on the history of the brewery. Our visit was primarily confined to the gift shop and post-tour bar area, where you can sample their crafts. We also spoke to the two gals working the front desk and gift shop. Both were helpful, knowledgeable and very courteous. My review is incomplete at this point, but I don't see it getting anything but better with the tour. Cheers!

Being from the DE/PA area Yuengling is such a common beer that it was cool to come to the brewery and take a tour. Our guide was so nice and knowledgable about the whole process. The whole tour/tasting room took about a solid hour. We got to see the new brewery as well as tour the old one. We got to walk through the Chem Lab where chemists test the beer, and meet one of them who was hard at work. We also got to see the bottle/can/keg line where the end result of the magic happens. The tour ended with 2 samples of beer. I got the Light Lager and the Summer Wheat. I personally liked the Light Lager better, but they were both good beers. Great place to bring Yuengling fans or just to go to learn about the beer making process on a larger scale.

  • Bob B.

I highly suggest visiting the Yuengling Brewery for anyone who really enjoys beer. You can't beat free! The tour is very extensive as you get to see the fermenters and all the inner workings as well as the tasting/experimentation room. The history behind the company is really interesting as well. Obviously the best part of the tour is getting to drink the different types of beer straight from the tap. Prost!

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area for vacation or just as a local. The tour is free, but they recommend tipping the tour guide at the end., so it is something that won't cost you very much. Basically a short tour through their factory where you visit their brewing tanks, bottling assembly line, lab, and bar at the end of the tour.

Free beer is definitely worth a boring brew tour. I say boring because one brew tour anywhere is enough to understand how beer is made. What I loved about this was the video lesson on the Yuengling family. And I'd never had anything past their main brew so tasting everything else was awesome. And I was pleasantly surprised by them all, especially the Black and Tan.

The tour and samples are FREE!!!!! I repeat- FREE!!!! Elizabeth our tour guide earned an extra star for these guys. She was funny and witty and gave a great tour! The decor in the tasting room/beer garden was comfortably outdated. I felt like I was in my dad's Pennsylvania hunting lodge. Really comfortable. The gift shop has a plethora of tee shirts and other yuengling memorabilia. I bought 2 pint glasses with the cute puppies printed in them. You got to see the original brew kettles, the new brew kettles, the silos, the lab, and the bottling/canning operation on the tour. Once the tour was over you got to pick two beers to sample. I loved the bock. By far my favorite. The Black and Tan and the Yuengling original were both very good. The Yuengling lite was gross, but that's just my personal taste in beer showing through. I'm sure millions of other people love it as much as I disliked it. I had not clue that Yuengling is not distributed nation wide! Apparently they only distribute on the east coast. Who knew? Definitely check this out if you are in Tampa. It is completely FREE!!!!!!

Good tour of the facilities, it doesn't compare to the St. Louis Brewery, but definitely worth the trip if you live around the area. Decent selection of free samples after tour.

We brought a fun group of 25 here, on a weekday for a tour. The tour started with watching some movie about the place on an ancient TV. We couldn't hear and our expectations, at that point, could not have been lower. But, things picked up as we explored, seeing this massive multi-story vat with beer angrily boiling in it. We also explored the lab where they test and examine various beer-related ingredients. Raw hops is certainly a taste sensation... So, overall it was fun and informative. As you might expect, the high-lite was sampling the beers afterwards. :-)

I made the drive over to Tampa with a few friends to do some brewery tours. Yuengling Brewery was our first stop for the day and we showed up to take the 10:30am tour. I'd say there were about thirty of us grouped which made for a nice size. We got the obligatory video of the complete history of this historic brewery. It is quite fascinating to see how this brewery has stayed in the Yuengling family for five generations. Watch the documentary Beer Wars and you'll see how amazing it is that Yuengling is still a family business. It's exciting to see that the next generations of daughters are doing their part to keep that family tradition alive. I enjoyed learning about how the brewery was looking to expand from their original location in Pottsville, Pa and saw an opportunity and purchased the old Stroh's factory here in Tampa. The tour we took through the plant will be a bit different than those coming in a month or so when the tour will begin exploring newer parts of the facility. We went on a Saturday, so there was no production going on. While it would have been cool to see some bottling it didn't really detract from our overall experience since overlooking production was a one of a handful stops along the way. We had a fabulous tour guide who was engaging and informative. She answered any questions from the group and she knew her stuff. Our tour lasted about an hour and we wrapped it up with a few samples from the bar. I enjoyed a Lord Chesterfield Ale along with a Black & Tan. We checked out the gift shop where some in my group picked up a few Yuengling souvenirs. I enjoyed learning about America's oldest brewery and would recommend this tour for folks who enjoy beer or even those who have an interest in how things are made. When you go pick up your next six pack of Yuengling look to see if you find a 2 on the bottle, if so you'll know it was brewed right here in the Sunshine State.

This was my one of my first brewery tours and I was impressed. It felt somewhat of a privilege to be in one of the breweries that belong to the oldest American brewery. Yuengling may not produce my favorite beers, but I certainly respect them for keeping their business local, and family-owned. We went on the Saturday, 10:30am tour and it was a comfortable group size (~15 ppl). Our guide had a loudspeaker with her which was extremely helpful, especially as I tended to hang back to take pictures. When we returned to the main lobby and saw the 12noon group, we were thankful for going early because people were spilling out of the building. So if you prefer a more intimate tour, remember to go early! They do allow visitors to take pictures on the tour, except in the lab, which is probably the most frustrating for a photographer of any level because the lab had so much intrigue and potential. But I'm glad that I was able to focus as this was the part of the tour where I learned the most about the process. Unfortunately, there was no production going on that day, so if that's important to you, don't go on a Saturday. At the end, we were treated to two, 7-oz cups of whatever they have on tap. The tour and the beers are free, so really, this makes for a cheap and brief amusement. Don't forget the gift shop close to the front entrance - they have some interesting items for sale in there.

Wow, how cool! I am a beer snob kind of guy, and Yuengling has always been a favorite in the "mid-range quality beers" for me. We were a bit early for the 1:00 tour, but we were greeted by a very friendly host, and she signed us in, and invited to walk around the visitor center and take a look at the gift shop. The building was once used by the previous Pabst and Stroh's brewery, and has an old 1950's - 1960's classic feel to it. (It reminded me of Mad Men.) But the bar area for the end of the tour is really nice. We toured virtually all parts of the brewery from the brew pots, the lab, the bottling, packaging, etc. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and it was really interesting hearing about the family history and the history of the company, and this brewery in particular. The gift shop is nice too, and I bought a cool golf shirt with "Yuengling Tampa" on the front. I'm a local, but most of the guests were from out of state. It's an interesting, fun little diversion for anyone, locals or tourists. It only takes about an hour or so, and you get a couple free samples of beer at the end (or sodas for kids). Oh, by the way, IT'S FREE!

Prior to moving to NYC, I spent 2 years living in Philly, where Yuengling is king. In Philly, you don't even have to order Yuengling by name, you can just order a "lager" at the bar and the bartender knows you want a Yuengling. So you can imagine I was pretty excited to find a Yuengling brewery in Tampa. With only one day in Tampa on the itinerary, we decided to start the day off with Yuengling's brewery tour. Tour was very enjoyable and it's free!!! You really get to see a lot, all through glass windows safely above the brewery floor, to keep you out of the way. The best part by far was the tasting. Since I was with friends, we shared our samples (two per person) so that we all got to try every different type of beer. Loved the store too, they had a lot of cute items. I ended up taking home some Yuengling branded clothes, including a pair of super comfy shorts that I love to sleep in. We also bought some Yuengling beer taps, which are a fun decorative item. If you're in Tampa and a fan of Yuengling, I highly recommend a stop here. I would even consider doing this again if I return to Tampa.

While visiting from New Jersey, it was decided to visit and tour the brewery. Who knew Yuengling had a second brewery in Tampa? Wow! We had a nice tour, which began with a 10-minute video of the history of the company. Then a young lady took us on our tour. It was very neat to see the wort being cooked. It was informative (and free) and ended with a nice tasting of the beer. That is where there were some issues. The brewery was out of at least two of its beers. WFT? Perhaps a distributor could be excused (probably not), but the folks that actually brew the stuff should never ever be out of beer. That was disappointing as I was eager to try the ale. What the brewery did have, however was their bock. The bock is awesome stuff! I tend to be a beer snob, although Yuengling is my go-to American beer when there is nothing better. The bock was excellent. Apparently, it is only offered in limited quantities, although Florida is going to now have it in the grocery stores. We picked some up for my stay. Good stuff! That's another thing I found odd. The brewery can make beer. It can serve beer at its bar. But it cannot sell beer out of its gift shop. No biggy, but odd.

FREE BEER! I could end the review there, and you'd know all you really need to know, but there's more to this place than just free beer. We had some time to kill on a Friday morning, so being the bunch of beer lovers that we are, we decided to head on down to the Yuengling tour. It's a free tour that goes around twice a day. After watching a short video on the general history of Yuengling and the Yuengling family, you're taken through a short guided tour of the plant. Your guide explains most (or what I assume to be most) of the major elements of the plant. We also met the head of the Quality Assurance team and some of the testers. The head of QA came over to tell us about what he does and answered a round of questions. While we walked down a hallway, one of the floor managers walked by and stopped for a moment to give us extra information about what we were talking about. Unfortunately, the lines don't run every day - and today was one of those days that it was shut down. I was really hoping to see that in action. They've also stopped allowing visitors to go down onto the production floor for an up close look. The tour is very informative if you're into such things - but there's no photography allowed inside the plant itself. That was kind of disappointing. And of course, we end the tour with free beer. Your guide goes over the options available to you and you can choose two small samples (I believe she said they were 7oz samples). There's a gift shop there you can buy Yuengling merchandise, but everything else about this tour is free - including the parking, and of course - the beer.

Enjoyed this tour! Free beer, beer-making history and tour. What's not to love! Definitely a must-see for the area.

The best part about this place is the architecture. Built in 1958, the tasting room/community room building out front is a superb example of mid century architecture and should probably be placed on the preservation rolls. i was there with a group of planners for a comprehensive tour and tasting opportunity. Apparently they offer tours at various times, and have a big gift shop for you to visit on the way in or out. The story of 6 generations of beer people and the physical plant are pretty cool. The hostess was perky and knowledgeable about the products and the company history. I'm actually not a beer drinker, but enjoyed the Porter on tap in the tasting room. Tampa is quite lucky to have this family owned brewer operating in this space. Originally built by Schlitz, sold to Stroh's and sold again, it closed - only to be bought by an expanding Yuengling and cranked back up to contribute to the local economy. Well worth your time to visit, even if, like me, you are not a beer drinker.

Not a bad brewery tour but certainly not on par with the big brewery in St. Louis. The beer at yuengling is definitely better though.

One of the most thorough and enjoyable beer tours ever. And I've done quite a few! Its free! Definitely fit this in. Plan on 60-70 minutes total. Ive always appreciated yuengling, but learning the history made me like the company even more. Very respectable practices. The tasting of the just made octoberfest was the highlight! Well, that and the porter...

This was a fun and best of all FREE thing to do while in Tampa. While some may be blaise about the tour, I've never been to a brewery tour before, and it was interesting, though I was disappointed because they were not in production. It was a Friday, but apparently they'd made enough beer for the week, so most people were in furlough I guess. If you really want to see things in action, you may want to call first just to make sure that it's a production day. The tour guide was really nice, well spoken and while in the lab, we were lucky enough to run into the brew master! He was very nice, and took the time to answer our questions, even from that "one guy" who always has to ask repetitive dumb questions. Of course the free beer tasting at the end was great as well. Especially since I got to try brews that aren't even for sale where I live in NY such as Lord Chesterfield Ale, and the Black and Tan. It was actually one girl's 21st b-day that day, so we all sang her Happy Birthday while sipping our beers. Fun! But please, no flip flops!

Tour Guide Elizabeth was great. Tour was brief but enjoyable. I like beer, but don't "get" the huge draw to Yuengling. Nonetheless, it was nice to do something different. They have recently updated their rules -- NO SANDALS OR CROCS - shoes that cover the entire foot only!

Here's my recap in a sentence. It was a nice tour followed by free samples... what can get better than that?

Now that Anheuser Busch has been sold to European company, InBev, Yuengling is now the second largest American owned brewery after Sam Adams and the oldest brewery in the country (established in 1829). Though Pottsville, PA may be where it all started and still it's home base, the Tampa brewery is significantly larger and is the second of Yuengling's three breweries (the third being in Mill Creek, PA). Tours are held twice a day, no reservations are required, and it is completely free. The tour is incredibly interesting, informative, and you get to see one of the largest breweries in the country. During the tour you get to meet the one brewmaster at the location in his lab and ask him anything you want. At the end you get free samples (they didn't seem to have a limit of samples but they did stop handing out the samples after a certain period of time when people stopped coming up to the bar asking to try something else). The beer was the coldest and freshest beer I've ever had (and I've drank at breweries before). I even got to try their new Octoberfest beer before the general public even has a chance to get them at the store. The gift shop was nice and the prices were good too. They even had some metal toy trucks where the boxes were personally signed by Richard L. Yuengling, Jr. (5th generation Yuengling to run the company). If you like beer or just manufacturing and are any where near Tampa, you have to go on one of their tours.

If you ever find yourself strapped for cash and need something fun to do that involves alcohol, then I suggest going to the Yeungling Brewery to tour their facility. Some friends and I ventured down to Tampa to go to the only Yeungling Brewery outside of Pennsylvania. The overall best part is that it is completely FREE! They don't charge for parking, going on the tour, or sampling their beer. They do have a small gift shop, but of course the souvenirs are not free. They do tours at 9am and 1pm. We started off in the main lobby/gift shop area where we met the tour guide, Elizabeth. Once 1pm came around we departed for the brewhouse. I have to admit, we did this tour on the worst possible day. Not only was the entire production shut down so we couldn't see the packaging of the beer bottles in action, the brew kettles were being cleaned so we couldn't get up close either. We next went to the quality control and quality assurance departments (nothing really exciting to see here). The best part was going to the lab where Randy, who has been working in the lab for 20 years, tests every batch of beer to make sure it is up to par. He took time out of his long day (he arrives at 3am and didn't leave until we were done touring his area around 1:30pm) to tell us about what he does. After the entire tour is over, you go back to the lobby/gift shop area where they have a mini bar area. They have about 5 different kinds that you can sample. It was a really cool experience and completely FREE.

As far as brewery tours go, this one is a more about the history of a company than it is about the beer. But I have never had a bad time on the tour. The guides are always very friendly, there is no cost to the tour, and if you happen to go on a day that brewing and bottling aren't happening, you get an extra sample at the end. Who can really complain about free beer and a fun, interactive history lesson?!

    (4)
  • Chad L.

A short wait, a good history of the brewery along with a short walking tour, and then free samples in the gift shop. That about sums it up. This is a satellite brewery for Yuengling, so the staff is small but very knowledgeable and friendly. Not much to see during the tour, but you do get to walk the facility and grounds. A good way to spend a rainy day or stopover in Tampa. Obviously the best part is free beer back at the bar/gift shop, so don't have too many expectations.

One of my favorite places to see everyday. I live very close to the brewery and on my way to pretty much everything I see this wonderful place. I can sometimes sit outside and enjoy the smell of the brewery, brewing, some nights. If you're interested in seeing how the magic happens they give out free tours. Check out the website to see which days they are having tours and just come right in, no sign up needed. When you walk in it seems a bit old fashioned, but it's a cool experience to see how they make the beer. Throughout the tour they basically explain every nitty gritty detail on how the beer is started all the way up until it gets to your mouth. I've been on the tour around 5 or 6 times now, and it's still a pretty amazing and informative experience and the best part is you get some samples at the end, fo' free!

Tour is free. CLOSED SHOES ONLY. We came in for a day trip with flip flops on - NO, NO. I had to buy new shoes. Otherwise, you can buy socks or use their "public shoes." ewwwwww.... The rule is, NO TOES DURING THE TOUR. I wish someone said this in all of the reviews I read beforehand. Other than that, we came on a Saturday - 1030am and 12 noon GUIDED TOUR Only. There was not much action since the bottling and canning department was not working when we came. The guide, Brendon(sp?) was absolutely charming, but other than that, it was not really exciting for. Then again, I have been to some really large breweries in my time. You get two samples each at the end of the tour. There are about up to seven (more or less) samples that you can have, but nothing really that you cannot buy from your local gas station, except maybe for two things. The tour is humble, no aristocrat bruhaha, and the tour itself lasts anywhere between 45 miuntes to an hour and a half or longer, if you would like. There are no restroom stops during the tour so do your thing before or after. The tour is not really picturesque or photo-worthy, but it is still an experience nonetheless, especially since it is free. The gift shop mainly have POTTSVILLE, PA printed on their labels, so that kinda dampens the mood since I am a collector of "address labels" when I buy my memorabilia, and I hate to have this Philly address when I toured the Tampa plant. Other than that: BUY THE HOT WING SAUCE. LOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!! AND OH, staff is wonderful :)

Living in California we don't have the opportunity to actually have Yuengling since they won't deliver past the Mississippi River. we travel back and forth between California and Philadelphia frequently and this is hands down our favorite beer. we have done the tour in Pottsville and now Tampa, the Tampa location is much newer, and totally worth a tour.

Good tour! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable on our tour. She was engaging with the crowd and had some good jokes. The tour took about 50 minutes to complete and we even got to meet their chemist. I did enjoy learning about the history of the brewery and how to tell where my beer was made. I still can't believe the size of the brewing operation here. It amazes me that they can make that much beer!!!! The samples at the end of the tour solidified that this is some good beer. The gift shop was well priced and had a huge selection of stuff.

Nice way to spend a couple of hours... did the 12pm tour today.. informative 1 hour walk where stuff was explained in detailed by our knowledgeable guide. No production on Saturdays, so we did not get to see people at work. As everyone said, there are samples at the end of the tour... some of which are not readily available in the supermarkets, etc. Was nice that there was a Paws for Friendship dog event going on this morning too.

Visit date: 7/18/2015 As their label mentions "America's oldest Brewery since 1829" what better way to advertise and acknowledge their credibility. This is not the original Brewery but their biggest one thus far here in Tampa, Florida. The tours are open to the public at no charge and are currently given 10:30 AM and at noon on Saturdays (check their website calendar for the day you plan to visit). We attended the noon one, which I do not recommend (time-wise). It was a large crowd, if you prefer smaller groups and more personal group tours, I recommend a weekday time. The website currently has 10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm tours for a typical weekday (not including holidays). The female tour guide was very informative as well as entertaining with side stories about the brewery and current employees. It was interesting to walk through and see the bottling/ canning , packaging, and storing centers. *Their new brewhouse, just built 2013, is now part of their tour. There is a gift shop for any brewery souvenir purchases as well. At last, the tour ends back at the main lobby where you receive 2 free samples of fresh Yuengling beer straight from the tap. What a perfect way to spend a summer day while learning a little about brewing history and sipping on free beer. Like most things, with age and time comes quality as Yuengling beer is JUST THIS!

We took the Yuengling Brewery tour during our recent visit in Tampa. It's a nice, informative a free tour. We took the tour on a Saturday, so we didn't actually see the production aspect. But our guide was very informative. We will just go again on a weekday. After the tour you are able to sample the beers and chit chat with the guide & bartenders. Set aside about 1-1 1/2 hours for the tour and tasting. There is also a small gift shop that you can browse/shop before or after your tour. Unless you take the last tour of the day, then you might want to check it out before the tour. Be sure that you wear closed toe shoes. I saw that they had some loaner shoes. But I, personally, would not want to use those. Yuck! Also, you will be going up and down stairs, so if you have difficulty with stairs or walking in general, maybe this is not the tour for you. I believe that they have an AV presentation for those that can't take the walking tour, but I'm not sure. BTW, it is always nice to tip your guide/servers.

I've always passed by this brewery but it wasn't until recently that I realized (thanks to Yelp) that they offer free beer tours. They offer beer tours every day, usually 3 times a day--- no reservations are needed! Just make sure you wear closed toe shoes because I completely forgot and had to run by the nearby CVS and buy some socks to wear under my sandals. Apparently, they sell a lot of socks there for that reason because the lady asked if I was going on the beer tour. The actual tour was nice, we had a very informative tour guide (well, actually three of them). We observed the old and new brewery on site, as well as walk through the lab, and look at the assembly line. At the end of the tour, we sampled the different types of beer on tap. I had the black & tan and the summer wheat. There's also a cool gift shop in the end with all sorts of souvenirs. My boyfriend couldn't resist getting a Yuengling wall plaque. I highly recommend visiting here, especially if you have guests that are visiting and want to see something different. It was a super plus for my guests because they were visiting from Indiana & Yuengling doesn't distribute there so they were pretty ecstatic.

We were a few minutes late but they still added us on to the tour and caught is up to the group. We had an awesome guide, very friendly and personable! Great beer sampling at the end, you get two free samples. They also have a gift shop, and they sell wing sauce. I didn't try it but it looked amazing! Would highly recommend!

The tour is extensive and takes you places all over the brewery. The guides are great and have a wealth of knowledge about the business. After the tour it's all you can sample. Sounds like my kind of place. The last tour is the best because its about lunch time and the workers are willing to laugh and let loose. If you are a home brewer there will definitely be advice that you can use.

I want to thank all the awesome Yelpers who did these reviews on the Yuengling Brewing Company of Tampa and informed me about their free tours and beer. After reading the reviews, I visited Yuengling the next day with my friend (it's Christmas break and our schedule is wide open). We checked out the store filled with Yuengling merchandise before the tour began. The tour was everything Yelpers said it would be. I learned a ton of new things about beer and Yuengling and the tour guide was informative and humorous. They walked us through every step of the process. Many of the workers are home for the holidays so we didn't get to see everything in action (I was especially looking forward to meeting their Chemist Randy because Yelpers really seemed to like meeting him), but the tour guides still did a good job of explaining everything to us. There was some pretty cool things we got to see and smell and by the end I was pretty happy that we had decided to go on this tour. The free beer at the end of course made it even better. I go to school at USF so I probably pass this brewing company all the time on my way to Busch Blvd., but never knew there was something so cool nearby. Thanks Yelp!

I'm a homebrewer and self-proclaimed beer aficionado, so brewery tours are usually a bit boring because they are pitched at the level of tourists that don't know much about beer. I've been on a lot of tours and have patiently waited for the explanations of the fundamentals of brewing to be over. To me, the tour is more of a "gear-head" trip and a way to get ideas for how a professional brewery can be set up (one can dream, can't one?). This brewery is one of the biggest ones I have toured, so it was cool to see their giant mash and boil systems, as well as the crazy bottling line. The tour guide called me a pothead because I knew the piece of trivia about hops being related to cannabis. Before the tour begins, you have to endure a 10-15 minute corporate video about the brewery. Good production value and very informative, but it is pretty much all about the original brewery in Penn. At the end of the tour, you get two 6 oz samples of beer in plastic cups. When I was there they had the Porter, Black & Tan, Light Lager, Lager, Lord Chesterfield Ale, and a green lager leftover from St. Paddy's Day. Though it's MACRO-beer, they do a good job. Their beers have good flavor and I've actually been craving a pint of the Lager ever since I went on the tour. I'd choose a Yuengling beer over any macro, any day. TIP: MAKE SURE YOU WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES! They advertise this on their website and on the door when you enter, and they don't back down from it. A group of 4 blokes tried to go on the tour, but two of them had to sit in the waiting area because they were wearing flip-flops. TIP #2: BRING SOME CASH. The tour is free but they encourage you to tip the tour guide. Shamefully, I had zero cash on me, so I had to slink away from the tip jar with my two beer samples at the end of the tour.

In Tampa? Want to do something awesome? Go take a tour of the Yuengling Brewery. I've been on enough brewery tours to know that anyone there is in it for the free beer and free beer alone. Except my fiancee and I. We're food nerds, love seeing the fermentation tanks, smelling the hops, and seeing the bottle line. You can also imagine our delight when the tour included a 20 minute Q&A with the head beer chemist, the guy was amazing. The tour of the factory was great, the place is huge! We learned tons of information too. Our tour guide was pithy, witty, and just a general ham. This lady was good at her job! Once back to the main building we sampled some delicious Yuengling varieties which was awesome. And we spent way too much time in the gift shop which has everything you could imagine. Tours are small, parking is ample, and the whole experience is amazing.

My husband is a fan of Yuengling beers, so when I drove by this factory not knowing about the existence of the place, I immediately thought of going to the tour. When we went to the tour, the tour guide was a trainee. So she was probably not as knowledgeable as she should be and it was a little awkward. However we all know how it feels to be a newbie and how hard public speaking is, so no big deal. Tough they were not making any canned beer that day, we were able to see the bottle beer being made. It was very cool. We were able to question the person works in the lab too. At the end of the tour, they will give you a generous portion of their products. From the tour to the sampling, everything is free! It is definitely something to do when you have seen all the major tourist spots in Tampa.

If you are a beer fan, you have to plan a visit. Yuengling is a family favorite - with the Pennsylvania side of the family. We were super excited to find out that there was a Tampa brewery - and they offered a free tour!! There's so much history within this facility - so it's not JUST about beer. Not only is the tour free - but there is also free beer at the end! The best advice - call ahead to see if there is beer production. The brewery produces Monday-Thursday - and sometimes on Friday/Saturday. So if you want to see beer in the making - be sure to call ahead. It's a very family-friendly organization who make you feel welcome and make you want to drink lots and lots of Yuengling for life!

What a fun tour! We took a tour on a Saturday, unfortunately the plant was not bottling, but that's okay. It was very interesting to learn about the brewery, the history, and to see where and how beer is made. It was my first tour of a brewery, and the price was right... FREE! As many reviewers have mentioned, there was a free tasting at the end. A great place to take a tour while in the Tampa area. It's free, you have no excuse not to go!!

We arrived at the gift shop at 11:15 and we sat near the bar at a lone table waiting for the tour that started promptly at 11:30. They do not give samples at the beginning of the tour but the lovely lady with a British accent offered me a coke. The tour itself is not a very long one, you will have to climb some stairs, but it went fairly fast and our tour guide was very knowledgable and nice. They offer two samples of beer at the end of your tour which is nice but they could offer a little more but I couldn't expect too much since the whole experience is free. In the lobby area of the gift shop they have some pretty neat pamphlets for neighboring attractions with coupons so I snagged a bunch :) I heard rumors that they give a souvenir glass but sadly we didn't receive such an offer. My brother in law bought a tap handle for a reasonable price $39.95 that he is going to turn into an epic shift knob. Overall if your looking for something free to do its worth wasting an hour or two like we did on our Monday morning :)

You have heard plenty about the FREE BEER element of this tour, and it is undoubtedly a magnetic factor. However, I am such a Yeungling fan, I might have even paid because going to the brewery is the only way to try some of their less-well-known brews, including Chesterfield Ale. I have long enjoyed their lager which is my standard beer to keep and drink at home...or order in preference to Bud, Coors, Miller and the other foreign-owned brews. As noted, Yeungling is made by a family brewery founded in Pennsylvania, and now the oldest surviving brewery. Also Yeungling decided to come to Tampa to expand distributions in the South, thereby resurrecting the brewery plant previously operated by Schlitz, then Coors----also providing lots of jobs. So they are a fine citizen too, that makes fine brew. The tour itself is interesting, esp. getting to talk with the Quality Control staff and brewmeister in the lab. The production process is so mechanized, you see few workers on the floor where streams of bottles wind through the open area getting washed, filled, labeled, capped & boxed. Impressive...and tasty. Every True Tampeno needs to visit this shrine.

I love making my own beer plus I work in a production facility so I thought the tour was very interesting. A lot shorter then we were expecting. We did not watch any video as the other reviewer did. 2- 7oz beers at the end make it worth the trip. I love their beer. Nice tasting room and gift shop

Welcome to the world of Yuengling, proud owners of the oldest brewery in America and responsible for providing fun to the masses with their lovely brews. The tour is free, but it has irregular times making it essential to look up their tour times on their site. Also, the tour includes beer tasting of all the Yuengling products. The tour did not really excite me and most of the information comes from the video before the actual tour. Once on the tour, we ran into the lead brewmaster, seriously what an awesome job title, and the main chemist, who is responsible for making all the wonderful Yuengling tastes that we grown accustomed to love. The route takes everyone through the bottling room, the chemist lab, and brewing kettles. It is a quick and efficient tour. After the tour, it was on to the main event and there is nothing like a little rain to get everyone moving faster to the hospitality room for some tasty beer. Once in the room, they allow for two beers at a time with choices that include Chesterfield Ale, Bach, Yuengling lite, Yuengling, Black and Tan, and the Porter. Well, my friends and I decided we would be a little competitive and play quarters. This got the beer flowing with every bounce of a quarter into a cup. Luckily, the game kept going because the lovely people of Yuengling allow refills. We all got a nice buzz going till our desire for food became stronger than our desire for beer. Thanks Yuengling for the Free Beer!

Not your average brewery tour. The Yeungling brewery here is a recent acquisition, so it doesn't come with a lot of lore and whatnot that you might find at some of the other big brewers -- and the aging brewery can look a bit dilapidated here or there. But, what it lacks in old world charm, the Yuengling brewery makes up for in free beer. Lots and lots of free beer. If you're looking for something to do outside of the usual Tampa Bay tourist traps, there are worst ways to spend an afternoon... like not drinking free beer.

What a fun place. You get to take a great tour, here the interesting history of Yuengling family, and then have free samples! How awesome is that? The lines were not running the day we were there, but we did get to spend some time in the lab and the Brewmaster himself was there. My only complaint was our tour guide walked like she was headed to the free beer for the first time herself and I had my elderly parents with me. She got so far ahead of us that we actually got locked out and had to wait a few moments for one of the other tourists to come back and let us in. I'm sure my parents were not the first elderly people to take the tour and I just think she should have been a little more aware of slow walkers. The beer was good, I liked the Black and Tan, and I got some good deals on some t-shirts. Fun place.

I brought my boyfriend here on a Saturday for a tour and beer sampling since Yuengling is one of his favorite beers. We never knew it was so close! Be sure to look on their website for tour times before going and read the FAQ's. - First note: There were many people wearing flip flops on our tours vs. the insisted closed toe shoe policy, but that could be because of the next note. - Second note: There is no production/brewing on Saturdays so the brewery is quiet and empty. We looked around the main waiting/lobby area and gift shop waiting for our 12p tour to begin. We had quite a large group, which had to split into two smaller ones. The tour lasted about 40 minutes, starting with a ten minute video of the history of Yuengling and the rise to present day. Next, the guide takes you out to the brewery, and into the kettle room, around through the lab, the bottle line, and the holding tanks. The tour was informative and hands on. Our guide was informative and knew quite a lot about the history and brewing process. She did a great job! Once done, you loop back into the lobby where the tasting room is and it's drinks galore. The BEST PART? FREE. Tips are encouraged! ;) We tried the Premium Lager, Lager, and Black and Tan. Sadly they were out of the Lord Chesterfield this day and the Premium Light is not available here in FL. Overall, a great tour and I will be revisitng with my parents when they are in town!

A cool and thorough tour of the Yuengling Brewing facilities. The tour is about an hour long and takes you through the entire brewing process. Our tour guide was friendly and quite knowledgeable. It was interesting learning about the brewing process and the history of the company and Yuengling family. The tour concludes back at the visitor center where each person on the tour is given two free samples of any beer of their choice. Definitely worth checking out and the tour is free!

This is a review of the Yuengling Brewery Company tour and gift shop, not of the beer itself. Though the beer would get a good rating too, as it has something of a cult following in the mid-Atlantic and that's got to be worth something. Anyway, I've toured several breweries over the past couple years (Magic Hat, Harpoon, Sam Adams) and the Yuengling facility is Tampa is easily the largest I've ever seen by a factor of about five. It is massive, and much of it is open to the public during these tours. I was able to get up close and personal with the enormous batch kettles, traverse the outdoor walkways connecting the various storage and processing areas, and even wander into the lab of the chief chemist. That last bit made the tour really shine. The chief chemist was in the lab and working, and he took a few minutes to explain what he does, how he does it, and why he does it. I'm sure it doesn't say "answer questions from tours" in his job dscription, but he pulled himself away from his work and gave us a fantastic understanding of what he did. That's going above and beyond, and that was fantastic. The tour ends at the in-factory bar, where our fantastic and personable tour guide poured us all a couple rounds. I walked through the gift shop afterwards, picking up a couple of souvenirs for their well-stocked shelves (hats, coolers, cookbooks, posters, steins, anything you need). Overall, it was a great experience and one of the best free things you can do in Tampa. I highly recommend it as an activity for factory tour geeks, beer afficionados, and folks that just like cool machines.

This is a great visit if you LOVE beer and you like FREE. The tour of the brewery is free. Check the website for specific tour times each day. The times vary so beware. I wasn't particularly thrilled about the tour itself. I was more interested in beer sampling. They allowed us two beer samples at a time. We were welcomed to return to pick up some more samples when we were finished. My friends and I made the best of our visit by playing quarters with our free samples. Had we been better prepared for our excursion of the brewery, we wouldn't have dipped out so early to grab lunch. Note to self: try to visit when you're not hungover. Just saying.

I moved to Philadelphia from the midwest as a wide eyed 19 year old full of wonder. Yuengling lager was the first beer I've ever truly enjoyed and remains in my top five favorites of all time. Smooth, sweet, cheap, it's like me in a bottle. I love that the bottlecaps can be rusty, I like that the taste varies per batch, I even like its relatively low alcohol content. The tour was pretty great, the British tour woman was funny in a non canned way. She took a shine to my grandpa and was constantly begging him to sell her his hat (signed, sports, I haven't a clue). I was amazed at how close they let you get to the active equipment, I could've spit in the mash and no one would've been the wiser. The whole facility reminded me of St. Pete Catholic High, 50's cinderblock with a residue of toil clinging to the walls. The tasting, that's what you came for right? Fantastic. They were out of Lord Chesterfield, but who drinks that? I "tasted" the shit out of the lager, probably 6 times. It makes sense, the bar is next to the gift shop and I went a bit insane in there. The fact that Dick Yuengling made it a point to hire back the laid off workers after the last closure bumps it up a star. This is a family business, one that deserves support as Inbev has encroached upon everything else.
