Who is awake at 4 in the morning? A lot of us apparently. I have found my people-- my nighthawks of Tampa. It was mostly young adults and a slew of cops congregating for some good eats. There were some young couples, a group of friends, partners in justice, and loners like me. To know this place is patroned by cops also helps you feel a bit more secure about this ungodly hour. On to the service, I arrived just at the tail end of a rush. At 4 in the morning there was a rush?! Yes. I sat myself down and my waitress signaled she had noticed me arrive though busy. She made me feel very comfortable and later apologized that my water didn't come early enough. Excellent service. Food was quite good. I got the french toast deluxe. Very simple preparation, but well executed. Bacon was perfectly crispy, canadian ham was just right. French toast was textbook. Not fancy, but practiced and perfected. On food alone I would give it 4 stars for quality with the price. Now considering they offer this when the city is asleep, this is one of the best meals you can get at 3-4am in tampa. That they have such a unique atmosphere and energy when the world is asleep, this was a special experience. I felt as if I walked into a different existence and was instantly in love. 5 stars!

I was looking for a place to eat since my first few options in Seminole Heights were closed on a Monday night. So a friend and I ended up meeting at Three Coins Diner which is open 24/7. It was pretty much what I expected walking into a diner in this gritty area. But we decided to test it out... The menu is pretty extensive so it took me awhile to decide on what to get and I could sense the waitress was getting impatient. I ended up getting the French Toast Supreme, which came out in under 10 min. The French Toast was awesome! Fluffy and with a little glazed crisp on the outside. Topped it off by sprinkling cinnamon and confectionery sugar on the six pieces, poured syrup all over it and dipped my bites in the soft butter. So, so good! I'll come back just for the French toast and maybe next time I'll get fruit with it. Because unfortunately the meats under-impressed. The sausage links were so overcooked that they were basically inedible, really dry and hard inside although outward appearance looked fine. The two slices of bacon were fatty. The ham had good flavor but also had a big piece of fat awkwardly hanging off it (see picture). Almost looks like someone ate half of it. They should have just cut that part off. The eggs were cooked as I wanted, which doesn't happen often when I go to restaurants so that was nice. Usually when I get my eggs "over hard", I still get a runny mess. If it wasn't for the meats, I would give them 4 stars. The waitress was also attentive in refilling water and handing us the check. The prices here are also decent. The atmosphere in the diner was OK, a little rundown but pretty clean. It's a place where you can hear conversations at every table. Speaking of the tables, they'll be replacing them soon so that should help with the aesthetics. 3 stars for 3 Coins because it's A-OK. But most likely I'll bump them up to 4 stars next time if everything is on point.

What a cool place in the Seminole Heights area. I was there before 7 AM for breakfast. The restaurant had many customers. The staff seemed very confident, like they had worked their for many years. Our waitress was great. She was prompt to address our table, take our order & be very agressive with refilling coffee. Breakfast eggs were cooked perfectly. Toast could have had more of a toast on it & margerine, butter or jelly offered could have been present. The bacon,3 slices were crisp & good. I usually opt for the hashbrowns, which are not usually my choice, but they were sliced across, cooked quite well & seasoned perfectly. My friend got grits that werevperfect. My eggs were over medium, his over easy & both were perfectly cooked. Food wise, except for the toast needing more butter & more toasting, I would recommend the rye toast. I was really suprised, with them being relatively skow, how long it took to get our food. Don't get me wrong, the food was really good. It took about 20 minutes from ordering to receiving the food, maybe longer, way too long. What's a girl to do? No complaints about the food, just the wait time.

Came here again after the movies for a late night breakfast treat. Wanted something sweet so I ordered chocolate chip pancakes with a side of eggs. The pancakes were big and just enough chocolate chips to satisfy my craving and big appetite. It was pretty busy it was 9:30pm on a Friday night. Food pre gaming food and several police were there eating a meal too. Fast and friendly service. Nice and clean seat yourself. I would come back here again from my breakfast craving.

I enjoyed my meal here, the food was good and service was quick. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs and grits. It was a huge plate of food and super filling. I was really surprised at how speedy it was to get our food with a full restaurant. We also got an order of fried zucchini and it was a massive pile of zucchini! Great place to hit up after a night of bar hopping!

It seems like every time I am there, there are always a bunch of cops inside. They must be in the know. This place is awesome. Imagine it's late at night, you may or may not be intoxicated. You want to have good food, but everything is closed and your options are limited. You want something that id decent and cheap, because let's be honest you spent more on drinks than you intended. Well what do you do? You go to three coins diner. The food is generous, the staff generous, and the bill is light on your wallet. The omelet is good enough that your stomach actually wants to keep it down and your taste buds rejoice. Your fun night out in the town, just got better.

Good simple food served by an attentive wait staff. Their breakfast plates are the best and never disappoint. The neighborhood is not the best and some customers are unsavory to say the least but overall it's a very good place to eat.

Yes, this is a greasy spoon and you know what? It did greasy spoon right! I ordered sweet tea and a patty melt. I *adored* the patty melt! The french fries on the side were PIPING hot and perfect. The pickles (served on the side) were delectable, so much so that I gobbled them all down before I got to the sandwich. The mini-cup of coleslaw was a little on the sour side, but I'm not typically a coleslaw fan, so it could have just been me. I was sitting right across from the cooler housing the desserts and y'all, I deserve a reward for the amount of self restraint I showed by not ordering one. THEY LOOKED SO INCREDIBLY GOOD. I will be back and darn it, next time I will be ordering one! Fast and friendly service. Loved!

Soooo gooood!! While looking for some home cooked breakfast once again Yelp came to the rescue! With a 4 star rating and 81 reviews this place was a must try. TCD is super cute. Located right on the Nebraska strip TCD is an older establishment who's food compliments its decorum. This place is a win-win. Not only is the food good and full of flavor but it's inexpensive. I ordered the Feta cheese & spinach omelet (add mushrooms, onion and bacon) which came with home fries and a biscuit. I also ordered a cup of coffee. The omelet was GREAT! It was a large portion and all of the veggies were fresh. I wish the feta cheese was broken up a little more but they gave me my monies worth. I noticed they don't cook their home fries as hard as I would like so I probably could have mentioned it to the waitress after previewing the pics but they were still good - but I would add some more seasoning too. My biscuit was warm and fluffy. I wish it was a little more yeasty. Every time I picked it up it fell apart which made eating it a little difficult but still good! My coffee was fresh brewed. I prefer a stronger blend but it took care of my craving. The staff is very attentive. They are constantly refilling drinks and checking on you. Parking is limited here so make sure you get there before rush begins. I was excited to see they are open 24/7 and I really want to come back for a late night visit. I had a fulfilling meal for only $11.19 can't ask for more than that! Yelping is my life!!!

Did you say "Three Coins Diner?" I AM SO INNNNN!!!!! After church last Sunday, My sisters and I were in dire need of a good brunch but were unsure of where to go. So of course, we consulted YELP and found Three Coins Diner. What a wonderful choice! Parking is limited so keep this in mind. The diner is an older establishments so don't expect anything fancy smancy as far as decor. They're open 24 hours so all you night owls feel free to stop in. They have a extensive menu offering a variety of different meals to choose from. We went for breakfast, but I had my eyes on every plate that a waitress walked past our table and everything looked good! Okay, so I ordered the vegetarian omelet with a side of French toast. The omelet came with onions, peppers, mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes. I nixed the tomatoes and added cheese. The omelet was really big and was served with home fries and a choice of bread. I chose the biscuit. After adding a little salt and pepper, everything was great! The vegetables used in the omelet tasted fresh and potatoes were really good. The biscuit was just how I like, a little crumbly and good with syrup. I also had a piece of French toast (don't judge, lol). It was PERFECT! Im not usually a big French toast person but strangely I had the urge for it on this day. I'm sooo glad I followed the urge. I'd definitely order the French toast again...I'd order this whole meal again honestly :) So needless to say, this place gets two thumbs up from me and if you're ever in the area I recommend stopping in.

This place feels like home! Fast service, friendly service, fresh quality food, and easy on the wallet. I think these qualities are what any good diner will stand behind. Three Coins does it best. The menu has anything you can dream up and everything we ordered came out piping hot and full of flavor. I'm going back for lunch and dinner! I recommend the grits and Garden Omelette for breakfast.

The Three Coins Diner is simply a-okay. It is your typical greasy spoon diner, which happens to be my favorite kind of diner. The greasier, the better... only sparingly though or else I'd be in some serious trouble! I found Three Coins to be modest and simple, which I really like. The service at Three Coins was your typical friendly diner-style service from a lady that called us "hun" and made sure my hubby's coffee was always filled. In a nutshell: The food was alright. The service was fast. Coffee refills when needed. Nice venue for people watching at the outside patio. But something was missing from my ham steak, eggs and potatoes breakfast dish. What if I said it wasn't greasy enough for me? I really think I wanted more "grease" to my meal. Not to worry though, I'm certain we will return. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they add some extra love to my breakfast next time. ;-)

Why 5 Stars? For Diners, this is a diamond in the rough! It's not in the greatest part of Tampa, but was very impressed! Friend recommend this place so I took his advise and tried it out. Friendly wait staff for starters. Our waiter was extremely busy, attending to 6+ tables at once and managed to give all of us great attention and service. I was in the mood for breakfast and tried the French Toast with sausage. The portion was large and surprised I was able to finish it. I was so hungry I forgot to capture a photo... Next time. Place is open 24 hours, but beware of your surroundings if you're solo. Excited to have found this gem. 4 Star review overall from other Yelpers.. Can't wait to go back!

Came here way late in the night and big props to all the staff who dedicate their nocturnal time to serving and feeding those like me who decide to eat out around 3am. Great service for being surprisingly busy at the hour and the food was pretty good going by diner standards. I ordered the corn beef hash which came with breakfast potatoes and an egg. It was yummy except I didn't particularly like the crispy, fried outside of the corn beef hash. I grew up eating it more on the runny/ taco meat texture style so that's just what I'm used to. Anyways, great place and I'd stop by again anytime!

I went with a friend. The food was pretty darn good and the waitress we had was friendly and very good at her job. The only problem I had was that we chose to eat outside and this is not in the best area of Tampa. There were a couple of homeless people that went by and some other seedy looking people and there was a lot of traffic so it was a bit loud. Everything turned out fine and I ate some great pancakes.

Not a bad diner at all, but I don't know why it's considered great by so many people. Conveniently located and open all night.

Very good diner food for Tampa. The atmosphere is nice, homey and very grandmotherly. Our waitress Sheila was very attentive and friendly. She even refilled our drinks before we asked. First we started with the mozzarella sticks that were the standard fare. Nothing bad, nothing awesomely good. Next, I got a broccoli cheddar soup that came with my entree meal. It was very hot and tasty. The babes got banana pancakes, bacon, ham and eggs. She says the pancakes were light and fluffy with a good flavor. She says the eggs were lackluster. Standard bacon and standard ham slices. Great portion size for her as she was able to take a doggy bag home with her pancakes. For me, I got the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and collard greens. The greens had some typed of smoked pork meat in them, so that was an awesome surprise. Needed a little salt but good flavor. My chopped steak I ordered "medium" and it was cooked to perfection. Needed salt as well, but it was good once I added the salt. The mashed potatoes tasted good as well, but again they needed salt too lol. The chopped steak was huge with TONS of onions. So if you're not an onion lover like me, ask for half of the amount of onions. My meal also came with a dessert. I got the rice pudding(not pictured) and it was amazing! Had to get it to go, but it was prepared very well. Mmmm still thinking about it! All in all, this place packs a punch. It may look a little old-fashioned, but hunny they have that food that sticks to your bones! I will be back! Great prices as well!

I decided to go here after I arrived in Tampa. Since it was in the late night/early morning hours this place seemed ideal. I ended up going with the Bacon Cheeseburger. The burger itself was just okay, nothing special about it. Just an average diner burger. The fries however were pretty bad. You can tell they must be using old oil in the fryers because the fries were a brownish color. They also weren't seasoned at all, so they were very bland. The one positive I would say is that the waitress was really nice.

Great diner! A nice cute small local diner. Excellent food and service. I was there with my wife and son, and this diner reminded me of the old great diners in NJ. Food was done perfectly and tasty, and pricing was excellent! And for the Greek owner; "Efharisto para poli, to fai kai oi parea itan poli kala."

Great food, great tasting biscuits and gravy, not easy to find. I had the southwestern wrap, which is really a breakfast burrito, very tasty. It would have been perfect if they had fresh OJ, but it's from concentrate. Otherwise great!

I love the mom and pop feel of this restaurant, and everything I've had was nothing short of amazing. Honestly, I don't think there's anything that's not on the menu at this fun, quirky place. The staff is sweet, and it's a cop hangout, so I always feel safe, even though the neighborhood is not the best. They have awesome Greek salads!!

Ok I've been to many diners around the US and there are 2 types clean fancy one and dives. Well 3 coins is a dive, its DIRTY run down just a messy place. But so are a million other place. So yes I have eaten here more than one time and i would go back. They know who they are. it's cheap decent diner food.

Slightly smaller than it looks on the outside, and local owned, this is a nice place to have breakfast. After reading some yelp reviews I was eager to try this place out. I have to say my first impression weren't very good. Just getting in gave me this clutter feeling which I don't enjoy being a tall fellow. The menu was lacking a sufficient amount of option, which could be great for some people, but I like lots of things to choose from. And as far as service i had expected slightly better from a small place like this. However the food did change my opinion a little. I was able to try the french toast and also there eggs Benedict. There food definitely tasted good compared to some chain food places. I feel like big chains puts lots of additives on there food to enhance the flavor, and just end up reheating lots of things. The food here was simple, but tasted great. But when i saw this bill my opinion went down little again. The food here is good, but just a little under the price they charge for it. But it does help that this is a local business. For that fact Ill probably be coming back.

There's not much to say... Three Coins is everything you want in a diner: cheap, a little bit greasy, open 24 hours, and if you're lucky -- your server calls you "honey" and "sugar." They have a range of lunch and dinner options but I always order breakfast (available 'round the clock). Expect a little bit of a wait on weekend mornings.

FINALLY, A DECENT DINER If you like: Fresh, non-greasy food Decent portions Diner atmosphere full of locals French toast made WELL with Texas toast and good 'ol pancake syrup like your grandma used to serve (not that horrendous maple crap) Quick service Cheap prices..... .....Then the 3 Coins Diner is the right place for you. Do not go here expecting: a squeaky clean restaurant, new furnishings, trendy hipster bullshit decor trendy hipster bullshit food like french toast bread pudding with caramelized pomegranate syrup, short lines. Expect well cooked food at good prices and a blue collar crowd. If you are going for breakfast, get here early; the lines start forming at 8 AM. I recommend the "Hungry Man," with a side of potatoes.

  • Bonnie L.

This place is really busy on Sunday mornings! I had read good reviews so I think I was expecting really good diner food, but I didn't taste anything special in the food or see anything interesting in the menu. Its decent food, and I guess its a better alternative to the national chains.

My college friends and I love going here and we love that it's open 24/7. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, no matter what time of day. It's not "gourmet" but I'm pretty sure no one expects that from a diner. Good food, kind staff, cool atmosphere, and they have basically any kind of diner food you'd want. Highly recommend.

  • Michael P.

This place has always been a Tampa gem. Open 24/7, this diner has a large menu, from breakfast all the way to full dinners. And everything in between. The staff is very friendly and swift. I never have to send anything back. I'm here mostly late at night with my friends. Try this place. You will not be disappointed.

In perhaps the only Diner I have ever seen in Florida. Table reserved for "party of 4 or more" so we waltzed in and seated immediately. Food was good, portions just slightly under truck-stop but definitely more than Cracker Barrel.

Great little diner with wonderful food! Don't come here expecting Bern's Steakhouse. This is a diner. As diner's go, the food was quality and well portioned. I had the Delancy open face sandwich for $8. Very good!

  • Alicia S.

First of all this place is open 24/7 which made me already like it. But sometime with 24/7 service the food is inconsistent and the servers are less than nice, so I was skeptical. After eating here a few times, mostly late at night, I came to the conclusion that this is a wonderful tampa gem. Each time I've visited the service has been great and the food comes out hot and fresh. The menu offers any kind of food you could want, from breakfast to seafood dinners. Breakfast is served all day, which I love. I've had the chicken Cesar salad, the ruben, a BLT, a mushroom burger and multiple breakfast items. None of these menu items were less than delicious. The whole place has the true diner, in a small town feel. This is definitely a must go to place in Tampa.

Stopped in for lunch. Service is great! We always get the Philly which is a excellent! Today I tried the burger and it was pretty good. The food comes out fast with no long wait. Looking forward to coming back but next time I am trying breakfast.

I have only been there for breakfast. The diner is located on a corner with a small parking lot. The breakfast is pretty good and the quality of the food is pretty good. They have the best corned beef hash, it's crispy and cooked well, it's a large portion too. The omelets are large and tasty, they also put in a lot of ham, bacon.....the service is good, the waitresses remind me of the New Jersey diner waitresses, all very nice. There is also a nice gentleman that keeps the coffee coming. There are a limited amount of tables; first come first serve. I enjoyed it and I also got take out for the next morning.

No complaints here. Mom and Pops style diner with good traditional breakfast. Restaurant was small so was worried it would be busy but was pretty dead when we walked in. The service was quick and the food came out hot and fast. I orderd the farmers omlet which had ham, bacon, sausage, and potatoes. It also came with a large portion hash browns that were just as good! I would definitely recommend this late night breakfast joint!

I love, love, love this place! I go to school down the street and when some classmates and I have a few hours to kill after a test, we always go here. The breakfast is delicious, portions are generously sized, and it's incredibly affordable. Plus, the waitresses are always very sweet. The only thing I would say is, if you want to eat here on the weekend, there may be a bit of a wait. It's a very popular, but very small restaurant.

really great prices buuuut I wasn't the biggest fan. it IS open 24 hours unlike some diner establishments who let us down in a much needed pie time crunch.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! This is a true Jersey inspired dinner. I believe the owners are from Philly. The decor, clinging dish sounds, and little candy machines in the door way are so Jersey. It makes me so happy! They have a full, delicious menu with breakfast all the time and even a little Greek section. My boyfriend loves the chicken souvlaki and I usually go for breakfast or a club sandwich. Open 24/7. Yes!!!

This place never, ever disappoints! Anything sweet and breakfast-y that you get from 3coins has some sort of enchantment cast over it: looks plain and un-special, but tastes better than anywhere else in town. The coffee's great, the service is great, the 3am vibe of this place is great, the portions are great. Just go.

The diner experience at Three Coins is unparalleled. Whether you go there for drunk person food or for regular person breakfast, it always hits the spot. Personally I am obsessed with the French toast. In addition to the syrup, they will give you these beastly sized powdered sugar and cinnamon shakers. And the coffee just keeps on flowing. Three Coins has its own laid-back style, which sets it apart from your typical big diner chains. The front porch area is all decorated with mismatched coffee mugs glued to the ledge filled with mosaic tiles. The inside is pretty cozy too. So next time you get one of those greasy food cravings, just ship on over to Three Coins! It'll be exactly what you need, and you won't leave hungry or broke.

Good diner food w/friendly service. It's definitely food where you're not worried about caloric intake! There are salads on the menu, but do you really want to go to a dinner for salads? I had the Greek omelette (tomatoes and feta) and added spinach with potatoes. The omelette was huge and taster! The potatoes were OK. My son had the kids grilled cheese and fries and chocolate ice cream for dessert. My husband had the French toast, with eggs and sausage. It was very good! We got a slice of homemade chocolate peanut butter cake. It was delicious and gigantic! The prices are very reasonable. It's no-frills, but we had a good experience. The menu has a lot of options

A place in my heart really loves this place. A Real Diner with all the noise and conversation and Forever Fresh Coffee. I found this place when I was looking for breakfast takeout. It was after noon on a Saturday so when I found this place I was happy. I moved past the line to place my togo order and then sat at the little bar to have coffee and wait. I had some great conversation with some of the regulars and my coffee cup was never empty. Time flew by and I was on my way with my treasure of homemade breakfast to go. Everything was tasty. Loved the corned beef and hash with an egg over easy and cooked perfectly. I have to go back soon. They were sold out of sausage gravy.

Funky area, funky clientele, classic little almost never closed Diner with great soul. Outstanding coffee - i think it's Joffrey's - great service, and good to excellent chow. The French Toast special is shareable and while not high brow, everything is solid and fresh. If you're cool in any setting and can enjoy waffle house as well as anything else, you'll enjoy this, 'cuz its a thousand times better than any waffle house but has a diverse and spicey clientele. Christmas eve they close at 8pm - great place to come decompress from the commercial holiday rat race!

First time here. A real local diner. I love local gems. Came for dinner. Did not disappoint. Our dinners (pork chops and meatloaf) came with soup or salad, choice of potato and vegetable, and dessert. All for under $10 each. Portions generous (I am all set for tomorrow's lunch, too). Service outstanding. Will come back and check out breakfast.

Went there for breakfast, their pancakes were delicious, services was good and the place was clean. This place is old school classic, love it. I'm gona got there again for sure to try the Waffle Sundae, it looked amazing, but I was too stuffed with pancakes to eat anymore, they serve big portions.

First time here and recommended by my host and it didn't disappoint. Everything was very nicely prepared. Chicken fried steak was crispy, juicy and a good sized portion. I like my eggs scrambled soft and they were don't perfectly, and the grits were real, creamy and perfect. Coffee was refilled by the waiter without asking. Cozy 24/hour diner. Will be back next time I'm in Tampa.

We were looking for a new diner since Nicko's has dropped a bit in my opinion. Place was full which is always a good sign. Very simple decor but the good was very tasty. Had the southwestern breakfast burrito which was very flavorful. Girlfriend who is a French toast lover gave the French toast here 2 thumbs up. Only negative we had was the service was a little slow, but that is to be expected with the place at capacity. We will definitely be back!

The food here is always good and affordable. My partner, nephew and I eat here at least once a week. It's nothing fancy by any means and I often find myself redecorating the place in my mind each visit, buy hey....it's cheap and the food is great.

Best place to get breakfast in Tampa. We go every Sunday, staff are friendly, and know their regulars.

Nice old "diner". Great food. Nice servers.

This little gem is open 24 hours and has become one of my frequented late night spots. The Southwestern Burrito Wrap has been my go-to lately. The Belgium Waffles are another favorite of my family. Corn beef hash with eggs is not the best I've ever had, but it hits the spot at 4 am after a night of drinking. I can understand why the place stays hopping 24 hours. The price is right for a decent bite to eat, day or night.

I was surprised by this place. It's a very cute little diner. There were lots of good choices on the menu but I had a club sandwich with fries and it was good. Sweet tea was good. No complaints. Very good service even though they were a little busy. They are open 24 hours so I will definitely be going back.

Great place for some late night grub! We both ordered country fried steak and eggs! Wow the portions were huge! Which is great for a diner! It was very good and my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly!

An old, well established and reputable Tampa diner. It's your traditional no-frills breakfast menu serving moist and mouthwatering pancakes. Their cheese omelette is tasty as well. All menu items are reasonably priced. You'll leave full and satisfied!

The must be place to hit up after any night out in the magnificent city of TPA. The Nebraska ave used to be riddled with lechery workers so you won't be able to holler at any to satisfy both areas of you hypothalamus. In any case the food is better than IHOP. The fat and obese waitress are usually jealous of skinny girls

It's Sunday night, pouring rain, and I don't have anything thawed out in the fridge. This is how most of my culinary adventures begin....."Nothing ready to cook? Then it's time to go Yelping for a new place to eat!" My buddy Brett has been raving about a diner over in Seminole Heights, and that sounded like it would do the trick -- nothing too dressy, nothing too pretentious. Three Coins Diner is located along Nebraska Avenue, just south of Busch Boulevard, and it's one of those places that stays open 24 hours a day. Just like most New Jersey diners, Three Coins has a diverse menu including breakfast specials all day long. If you're looking for a freshly-cooked omelet in the middle of the night then Three Coins is your place. In addition to breakfast, Three Coins has burgers, sandwiches, salads, and full dinners including Greek, Italian, and basic American comfort food. Plenty of steaks, chops, chicken, and other choices. Tonight I had a meatloaf dinner which came with a salad, choice of potato, choice of vegetable, and a drink for about $12. Good food, fair prices, wide variety of menu choices, and open for 24 hours. This is not a high falutin restaurant, but it certainly does the trick if you want quick and convenient eats.

Excellent portion size with outstanding value. If you like dining in a diner with a side of greasy spoon this place is for you. Dine with the average Joe's, from every walk of life. Servers were great always ready for your your every need.

It's a diner. I came here for breakfast with my family last weekend and we all had a great meal. Good eggs, potatoes, grits....even mickey mouse pancakes for the kids. Nothing special, nothing over the top. The restaurant has mostly 4 person booths- just one or two tables for big parties- so just be aware if you're coming with a large group. The staff was friendly, prices were great, and they accept credit cards. :)

Area is obviously a little sketch and stragglers will walk by while you are dining, but the food was on point and the service was very good...on a busy Saturday morning! Great value for a breakfast in Tampa.

My friend and I stopped in after an event at USF. It was late and pretty much anywhere serving food was closed, except for 3 coins and taco bus. So we opted to try something new. I was torn between a couple things on the menu, and the waitress suggested the French toast from my list. I went with it and while it was good, there was nothing that blew my mind. I also found myself wishing for real maple syrup as I always seem to do anywhere that only gives me "pancake syrup" as an option. Our waitress was fantastic, but the place is a total dive. I was reassured by the 3-4 cops that came in for their dinner break that night though.

Why 4 stars? Because the key to my morning heart is a good omelet. --- --- --- 2+ years living in Seminole Heights Several hundred occasions driving right past Three Coins Restaurant Zero trips inside. I just wasn't sure what to expect in there. It recently dawned on my curiosity to check out Three Coins on Yelp, and the reviews guided me to finally stop in. What I got was a better version of Denny's, that's closer to my house...and most importantly...locally owned! Mmmm....local....(Homer drool sounds) The girlfriend needed to catch a 6:55am flight, which meant I was up at 5:30am on a Sunday. This typically would cause me borderline schizophrenia, but I suffered through waking up when it was still pitch black outside, knowing that a new Seminole Heights gem was on the docket for the morning. I braved this venture alone, as not only were none of my friends awake at that ungodly hour, but I believe only 11 people in the city of Tampa were conscious during this time. My omelet hit the spot, big time! The fact that I was sitting across from a prostitute that was just getting off "work" for the night, was a bonus. I got to listen to her haggle with the waitress over how much extra jelly cups would cost and why she couldn't do substitutions for free on certain menu items for take-out orders. I couldn't tell if these silly restrictions were legitimate, or if she was a regular trouble maker that they were trying to eliminate from coming back. Either way, I got dinner and a show.

Good food. Good prices. Staff was friendly. Owner was a bit of a moron, but that's to be expected. In my experience working in restaurants it's often the owner who knows the least and impedes workers by slowing them down.

3 1/2 Stars - I have nothing bad to say about this place. I came here after a night of gambling at Hard Rock Tampa. It was the closest 24 hour diner from my downtown hotel according to Google but I still had to drive. Arrived around 2am (Fri) and the place was slow. I was just happy that it was open and can sit & eat fast. As I imagined, the place had old skool diner decor and as expected, the staff had old skool diner hospitality....courteous and called me "Sweetie". Love places like this but have to expect that the food will be mediocre but served in large portions for more or less than $10 bucks. My server was attentive and made my experience pleasurable enough for a repeat visit the following day :)

Go for some of the food choices and wear blinders. Our party of 4 had a burger, grilled ham & cheese with bacon, patty melt & country fries steak. 3 out if 4 were good. My melt was delicious in crispy rye bread & fries. The mushroom burger was large and also good. The country fried steak, not good at all. It didn't have any of the crispy ness it should have and we should of stopped the order when we were told there was no white gravy today only brown. The customer service was great. Quick, polite, and made sure we were taken care of. Now for the tough love. I've always told my kids that unfortunately we live in a world where people judge you the way you look and act. In this case, I would have had to treat 3 coins like a cheap hooker with good manners. The interior was disgusting. Smooshed food on the floor, rusted dirty ceiling, no toilet tank in the restroom, water on the floor, a bin of lettuce out in the open & a condom in the parking space as I walked in. I went for the reviews, but should have paid better attention to the lesser reviews. Good for after a late night of drinking, but not if it's daylight.

The last time I was there (3/25/15), I noticed that they had replaced the old booths that had duct tape repairs on the seats with new booths. The place appears cleaner now.

While visiting Tampa we were looking for a good place to get brunch. This place looks like a hole in the wall and the food tastes the same. The menu is pretty diverse just like the clientele. I'd recommend anyone looking for some good diner eating to stop here. I personally had the spinach and feta omelet (5/5) and banana pancakes (5/5). Service was 5/5 stars. Check this place out for sure.

Every time I've been here I haven't been disappointed. Recently though I went to dinner with my family. My grandpa and father both got food poisoning. My dad ordered turkey and as he was eating it he complained about it tasting funny. My grandpa ordered the grilled fish dinner and was sick for 3 days. I know that this happens sometimes at restaurants, I just think it's something people should consider when ordering from there. My mom and me ordered the breakfast and we were fine. I won't be eating there again.

Love the farmers omlette for breakfast. Good prices, but often a wait on sat and sun mornings. Im reading a lot of reviewers that have concerns with the area. Yea it.'s on Nebraska but 3 coins is also a TPD hangout and the area seems much better than it was a decade or 2 ago.

  • Alecia S.

The food was great but we had to wait standing up for a table because they were so busy. Also our waitress was good she was funny and very interactive with our daughter but the food took a while to get to the table. Good breakfast food though and friendly atmosphere. But being 8 months pregnant and waiting for a table standing up was uncomfortable for fifteen minutes. But like I said food was great.

One of the best places I have ever been to for breakfast. It is a local hot spot in Seminole Heights. It always packed even at 2 a.m. in the morning but so worth the weight. The staff is phenomenal and always a joy to be around. My kids love the chocolate chip pancakes they serve them in the shape of mickey mouse. The chicken friend steak is amazing and the farmers omelet is to die for. I love the coffee, not to strong and does not have a burnt taste to it as some diners will have. If you are visiting or looking for a new place to have breakfast this is the place to go.

Best chic fried steak on these parts. French toast rates! Delancey St, sandwich is real good interpretation is excellent, couldn't finish it. Basic good greek family managed Diner, with a southern spin. Good wholesome filling food. Price is real good and affordable. Only sits about 35 people max. It can get crowded. The restaurant looks a little worn, but pretty much spotless. I'm in here about 2-4 times a month.

Breakfast is a personal favorite of mine. It's a meal that is good any time of the day, and it's the meal where you're allowed to eat what is essentially large portions of dessert in the guise of a meal. That said, I've frequented several breakfast joints scattered around Tampa. Unfortunately, my favorite ones are way out on the other side of town, so I'm glad I heard about Three Coins and even more happy that I decided to try it out. Yes, it's ye olde basic diner, but like all true diners, the food is simple and delicious and most importantly of all- cheap. For $7 you can get three gigantic pancakes stuffed with bananas and a side of scrambled eggs. If you finish it all, good luck getting out of your booth. I ordered said pancakes and was very happy. They were a little more on the cakey side and weren't at all greasy like when you order them from some other breakfast chains. The eggs were fluffy and best of all they weren't from that powdered mix that makes unnaturally flat eggs. My wife's home fries were that perfect balance of crisp on the outside and still starchy good on the inside that allows them to soak up catsup. So for $12 we both left stuffed. When we arrived it was fairly busy and from what I could overhear from other diners, this happens quite frequently. Despite this, we were still taken care of pretty quickly and our waitstaff was very friendly. Definitely will be returning here at any time of the day, which is good, because that also happens to be when they're open.

Friendly service, open 24/7 and a good place to stop after leaving Busch Gardens if you don't want IHOP or Olive Garden or Red Lobster. I had the Cobb Salad, which was GINORMOUS, and my date had the veggie wrap and white bean soup. The best thing was the white bean soup.

Love this little diner! They have the best omelets and the potatoes that come with are my favorite. I tried some of the lunch offerings and was not thrilled but when I stick to breakfast I am never disappointed. The servers are fun to talk to and always fast and on top of their tables. The coffee is also really good. Not all burnt tasting like lots of places.

  • Danesh J.

For breakfast food, a resounding meh. Why? Everything was greasy. I mean too greasy and biscuits were sort of rock like. Highlight was some of the french toast. I say some because part had cheese on it and tasted like a hamburger. I ordered french toast with sausage links and got both plus bacon. Overall, I can say that I tried it, but it's not for me. I've experience better at the Dutch Valley Restaurant, First Watch, and Savvy Jacks. I recommend that you at least give it a try if you are the type of person that wants to give things a try to determine if you like them or not. They have dinner options as well. Probably good for late, late night meals. You pay at the register by the way. Probably should bring some cash too to leave on the table. They appear to be open 24 hours. Prices are decent. Service was fast.

I said a little prayer before driving to Three Coins for dinner tonight--yes, I had some concern for my safety as this sketchy area of town closely resembles some third world countries I've visited. Thankfully, I enjoyed a satisfying meal--and I am still alive to Yelp about it! In my opinion, Three Coins is way better than Waffle House or Denny's. The diner seems relatively unchanged from the 1950s (that's my guess). Our waitress was a very helpful and courteous lady--a welcome change from the apathetic waitresses I usually find at chain diners. I ordered one of the evening's specials--the beef stew over rice. The meal also included a bowl of soup (chicken noodle = thick and delicious) and a dessert (mint ice cream--yum!). The beef stew was totally something that I can see a grandpa and grandma eating every Monday night. Loved it! Bonus trivia... the name of the diner originated with the original price of a cup of coffee... and it used to have a drive-thru. Thank you, awesome waitress! Even though Three Coins is in a scary part of town, it's definitely worth a try... just remember to wear some body armor if you opt for the outdoor dining.

  • Kasha V.

The food is ok~ It's honestly just a mediocre diner like everywhere else. I do enjoy the cheese sticks though. My server on the other hand was very sweet, polite and on top of her game. My order had originally came out cold and she was so sweet and patient about fixing it. I give it a 3 because of the food...

Perfect diner. Their omelets are out of this world, full of delicious ingredients. The bottomless cups of coffee are a plus, too. I love exploring new restaurants (especially breakfast places), but my fiance and I have been coming here for years because it is so homey, delicious, and affordable.

  • Katy S.

I have tried and tried to like this place, and in the end, I just don't. My fiance' LOVES Three Coins and always suggests it for breakfast. I've just really never had anything that I have liked a whole lot. And I've had hair in my food, more than once. I don't usually consider myself a picky eater...but I'm just not into this place.

  • Justin R.

Diner food at it's okayest. I just made that word up, but it's the only way I could adequately describe three coins diner food quality. It's diner food, they have almost the same stuff every other diner has, nothing special or out of the ordinary. I got the super waffle special that came with eggs, bacon, sausage and a waffle. It was standard in regards to taste, preparation, etc. The hashbrowns I ordered were just potatoes thrown on the grill, not a big fan, but I guess they did the trick. The service was on-point and attentive. The bonus to Three Coins is the hours of operation -2-4-7. You can get your dive on, all day long.

  • Mike S.

I agree with Amanda that some of the earlier reviewers are hyping the drama of visiting the Nebraska Ave. combat zone. Although I would not hang around outsie at night, and there are a lot of transient pedestrians, there is no problem having a fine meal at Three Coins. It is an all-hours diner/Mom & Pop kind of restaurant, filled with comfort food favorites, standard breakfast combos, omelets, and some more unusual options. Service is quick and friendly, and it has plenty of repeat customers, most of whom actually drive cars. Give it a try.....it is friendlier, lower cost and safer than Ybor where the body count & arrest stats are truly scary.....and you are deal with pedestrian traffic made up of drunken, obnoxious yuppies & jocks mingling with thugs after dark. The occasional Zombi Pub crawl upgrades the neighborhood.

  • Odion B.

Three coins diner. Some of the reviews refer to it as an institution- it definitely looks like its been here for a while, but I hadn't heard of it living in other parts of town. Now as a proud member of the Seminole heights community, I ventured in. Pleasant staff, prompt service on a busy labor day morning. Waitstaff referred to customers by name. Menu covers a wide swath of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bummed that they didn't serve white gravy with the country fried steak after 11am. Food was good enough for a diner- greasy, and probably would taste better after 2 am. Several of the patrons were colorful. Will require a re-visit after dark.

    (5)
  • Brice W.

This is a price performer. Good solid food served by friendly waitresses. Hang with an old timer at the counter to take it up a notch. Those posts that warn you about the neighborhood or proclaim their misgivings about eating in a rough neighborhood have never ventured beyond their suburban safe houses into the real world. Real people eating real food in a real neighborhood - That's Three Coins Diner. You have nothing to fear here other than your own worries and insecurities. Stop by three coins any time. You'll be glad you did.

  • Matt J.

For a cheap yet quality and delicious breakfast....this place is it. Cozy inside with counter seating too. Best gravy I've ever had on country fried steak or biscuits. The neighborhood it's located in is possibly sketchy at 3 am but during the day you should have no worries. The coffee is also delicious and the service was very good. Also has a very cool outdoor seating area out front. I'll be back.

3am. Reeking of club and Ybor and bad decisions and not wanting to go home yet. The best thing you can do to yourself is park your polite, well-mannered self here and get some eggs and coffee down the hatch. Then you notice the food is good. No, really -- it's a damn sight better than what you're used to having. Later, when you wake up, go back during the day and eat thoughtfully. Taste the food, and you will be pleasantly rewarded with eggs that are cooked to diner-levels of perfection and fresh ingredients. Solid home-cooked food, and coffee that tastes -good- without being pretentious. You will be served by quick and efficient staff of lifers that smile when smiled at, and leave you quietly in peace with your breakfast if you seem to be in need of peace, and who isn't? The staff and patrons are real, and the place is obviously an institution, with good reason. I heard several ongoing conversations start up again when someone walked in the door, and missing people were asked after and genuine care was shown about them. This place is a rare gem of the human condition paired with surprisingly good food. Highly recommended.

  • Kassandra G.

There was nothing wrong with three coins but then again there was nothing real great about it either. It's not really in the best part of town but it's a 24 hour diner hard to find in lowly old Tampa. So for a local place to eat late night breakfast, it's a good location. Just nothing real special about their food or service. I've been to much better diners in Lakeland. I can't even tell you what I had because it was just another breakfast meal for me. Again I'm not saying there was anything wrong but nothing really for me to remember or make not of.

  • Robby M.

Great spot if you really enjoy diner food which I do. The omelets are thick and full of cheesy goodness. The place is really crowded but they turn tables really quick. The prices are really cheap perfect for a hangover or just a good greasy meal.

  • Dahoniel P.

I am definitely a fan of The Three Coins Diner. As a night owl, I am usually up very late into the night, and this is the only spot around that could offer me a great meal nearby. I have been here a couple of times now, and I expect to return as often as possible.

Apparently Mr. Benjamin M. is a giant pussy, because I regularly eat outdoors at Three Coins and I don't need a bulletproof vest. Yeah, it's on scenic Nebraska Avenue, so you might see a hooker or two, but for pete's sake, no one's going to shoot you for having a cheese omelette. Anyway, if you're not a white bread yokel afraid of stepping out of the subdivision, you really should hit up Three Coins. The breakfasts are UNBELIEVABLE and cheap, the waitresses are all darlins, and it's delicious diner food fast. How can you beat it? I recharge my life meter daily with broccoli and cheese omelettes.

Trashed from a night of debauchery and drinking at 4am? Head down to The Three Coins Diner. The food isn't remarkable, but it's much better than other chain alternatives. Though, the main reason to go here is for the show. There are some interesting characters that creep into this tiny establishment and they always seem to come out in the wee hours of the morning. It's sometimes hard to tell if they're local to Nebraska Ave (if you live here, you get want I'm hinting at) or if they've just come from the clubs in Ybor. Either way, it's always a wonder how they made it to the diner alive given their inebriated states. Major props to the late-shift staff for putting up with as much crap as they probably do on a regular basis.

    (3)
  • Adam S.

First off, thank you Benjamin M. for informing me I live in the "third world," despite his making it out "alive to Yelp about it." Is this thinly veiled racism helpful? Why yes, Benjamin, it is! Send my best to New Tampa. Three Coins is solid local flavor. It's an old fashioned diner, but more importantly a truly organic community center. Everyone from the 'hood saddles up for Heart-stopping omelets, great coffee from Joffrey's, and service with a smile. Not to mention cheap! The pride of Seminole Heights! BTW, how great are the waitstaff polos? I want one.

  • Kiera B.

I've been eating here for about two years now and I've never had any major complaints with the place. Sure, it's no five star restaurant - but it IS the perfect place to go to when you're suddenly experiencing a case of the munchies at 3am (I'm an insomniac). I've tried just about everything that they have to offer, but I regularly eat their yummy house omelette with cheese grits. It usually hits the spot. The staff is friendly, expect for maybe the occasional bimbos ( that usually don't last long). If you become a regular, you'll get to experience interesting characters strolling in late a night that will offer you much amusement. Worth checking out if you're looking for an alternative to the Waffle House and Denny's. Plus, it's a local business - so show some support!

this is a run-of-the-mill greasy spoon diner, but the food isn't bad at all and it's an inexpensive breakfast. the place was very busy and seemed to have a few regulars. i'm not super picky about my eggs, but i was pleased to find them not too greasy and the side of fresh fruit was nice. i don't think you can go wrong here for your basic needs.

Week 1: Get Your Gat, We Are Going To Three Coins An excerpt from the Meatball Chronicles sundaymeatballchronicles… As I sit here excited to tell you about my first (and only) adventure to 3 Coins, there is also a feeling of disappointment. I've had so many culinary adventures and aside from a few uploads of corned beef hash, I haven't shared them with anyone. The Meatball Chronicles never reserve seats for the excessively meticulous. The engagements have included canned meat mountains, dirty tables, fraudulent Elvis booths, 6000+ calorie challenges, breakfast cocktails, sake bombs then falling for the love of my life (and not the other way around), raw food, cooked food, northern food, southern food, a meatloaf marathon, a few instances of food poisoning, some hand holding in public, and much more. I can only pray that some day I make it to Australia to eat those berries that grow in the digestive systems of emus and can only be found by picking through their crap. Three Coins Diner, Tampa: Last Sunday was like any other Sunday. We woke up on a mission for calories. In the mood for a hole in the wall, greasy southern breakfast joint, we settled on a Nebraska Ave location... we were on a mission. But Nebraska?!? Should I change my Burberry boots? Should I rent a gun? This was sure to be amazing. As we walked in, I was instantly bummed. Where's the big fat Southern Lady? Where are the cackling motel landlords? Why is everyone here a white elderly couple? Thankfully, there wasn't time to dwell on this because I was starving and knew what I wanted. We immediately ordered country fried steak and gravy, grits, corned beef hash, eggs over easy, a side of sausage links, two coffees, and two waters. The table next to us had two young guys and their food was served within minutes. What the F?!?! That grimy bastard ordered the same thing I ordered. Should I stand up to use the restroom and accidentally drop my face into it? I don't want to wait any longer. Thank goodness my better half has caught my attention with his outrageous Sunday morning thought. "I'd be interested in genetically engineering a child" I must have looked dumbfounded because he immediately got defensive and said "WHAT? We did it with cows all the time." I wasn't dumbfounded, I was lost in my own thoughts again... could i genetically engineer a child to have a fast metabolism so it could join me on my culinary adventures without being obese? Clearly these adventures are no place for children. "If you and I did this, it would definitely need my nose and my boobs." Really? You are a man, you don't have boobs. Oh shit neither do I. And what's this crap about my nose? You don't like my face? AHHH THE FOOD!!!! A GLORIOUS MOUNTAIN OF CORNED BEEF HASH. I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE I WANT THIS HASH NOW. To be honest, I was so starving that I would have enjoyed anything. But man, this hash... it was freakin' amazing. Crusted on the outside and everything. The grits were okay but anything is okay with a puddle of butter in it. Sausage- Good. Eggs- An egg's an egg. Country Fried Steak and Gravy- Well the gravy wasn't sausage gravy and although it wasn't my order, i'd say it was average. Major fail on the lack of sausage--they don't serve it after 11AM. I won't be back... the hash is worth doing illegal things for, but I'm positive there is more hash to be tasted someplace new.
